ceil said...

bbl going to look up some receips for the weekend

stronghunter said...

Haven't heard Hidey this evening. . . . well, maybe I just did.

Have a good long snooze, Steve! Hopefully you have a 4 day weekend!

I'll be back in a little while -
Company has just left and time to tidy up a bit!

floralgirl said...

Thanks Steve:) Hello everybody! sleep.....that sounds good..... gotta make some dinner first... that's right, it's finally dinnertime!

Lolly said...

Well, Momsters and Dadsters, guess what! The part did not arrive until 3:30 and we will not be getting the van until late tomorrow. Or so the story goes!

Hope the hot air balloons we were told about go off in the morning and we will have that to entertain us!

Going outside now. Jacob fell asleep at supper with food in his mouth. Laurel is going to attempt to get pjs on him and put him to bed.

hello everyone, got home around 7, spent a few hours with the M&M girls at the condo before I came home....Maggie has a cute new haircut, and was walking around looking for gampa...and Molly is once again cutting a tooth, a molar, and is not feeling to chipper, but still smiling....take care and good night.....sorry Lolly you are not home yet, enjoy the balloons....

Costume Lady said...

I feel so badly for you, Lolly:( I'll bet those little Natives are getting restless by now. Hope you can get home before the 4th. Traffic will be heavy. Will say an extra prayer for you tonight, that you can get outta Dodge early tomorrow;)

deb said...

Hi, I am feeling better, but a half a bowl of chicken noodle soup didn't want to stay in my stomach. Maybe that was the last hoorah, because it made me feel better.

Sissy, so sorry about your fall, hope nothing is broken or injured.

Love the Black-capped Night Heron!

Lolly, can't believe you are still there!

Signing off for the night, Night everyone

Mits said...

hope Deb is feeling better and Sissy gets well too...just what you need Sissy another dog:)

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Helen:)

Mits said...

Good news.....the FINLAND NEST IS UP AND WORKING..looks like maybe 2 chicks are there...can't tell for sure

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Deb....hope you feel better in the morning:)

Costume Lady said...

Water Finland?

Mits said...

for you newbies, this is THE FINLAND NEST it is over the water....the land nest is FINNEY'S NEST, because that is the name some of us old timers' gave to the single osprey chick of a few years ago.

floralgirl said...

Yikes, feel better, Deb:) And I hope you guys make it back on the road soon, Lolly.

Mits said...

Suzanne will be really happy to see the FINLAND NEST again, she has missed it.

Mits said...

goodnight again...

Mits said...

They must still be ironing the bugs out on the "FINLAND NEST", it is not refreshing

hedgie said...

Welcome home, Mits!
How cool is Finland....even now with a close-up view!! Hope they get the refresh bug worked out. So good to see that lovely water/landscape again! I'm a happy camper even if poor Lolly isn't.

hedgie said...

Think there might be three chicks. Suz is off tomorrow...she won't get a chance to see until Monday!

hedgie said...

Only one posting on their blog...it says two...wish they would move so I could tell for sure!!!

hedgie said...

Their webpage seems to be all that is refreshing....time is not changing...maybe tomorrow will be better.

ceil said...

Mits thanks for the Finland nest pictures. They sure are big already. Suz will be so happy she really loves the osprey. Good night all. Pleasant dreams. Lolly enjoy the baloons. Did Helen tell you she and hubby went on a baloon ride.

hedgie said...

Neat, Helen....was that recently that you and Jay did the balloon ride? Another one of my bucket list items! Tried to do it the first summer after diagnosis, but weather did not cooperate--it was too hot for the balloons to go up!

Mema Jo said...

If we can get Lolly home - we'll have a nest full. Hope the balloon show tomorrow will be enjoyable. Some of those balloons you see are beautifully colored!

Had dinner company tonight - that will probably be the last big family get together with the Germany crew. I will see them again but won't be entertaining them with all the family.
The ggd are really adorable - Samantha acts so grown up at times and then the silly little girl comes out of her! Elizabeth is a happy go lucky and loves everyone to pick her up! She is so friendly for a 1 yr old.

Mema Jo said...

Grandson works in Hagerstown at the Honda dealership (mechanic). Told me this evening that someone's car he moved had an eagle key chain just like mine!.. I am wondering if an Momster who has a Honda was getting her car serviced very recently.

Mema Jo said...

I see all 5 blud bird eggs have hatched
Good to have Lake Washington Eagles up/running again! They should be fledging soon.
The Duke Farms has had 2 fledges - all except the one they call Tiny. He is the youngest but he should go in another week. The forum is concerned for him!

Mema Jo said...

I keep thinking it is a weekend - not use to week day visitors. But it is only RED Friday tomorrow as Margy would remind us.

Hope that flu is leaving Deb. Nasty!

hedgie said...

Saying goodnight to all y'all! Pleasant dreams of peace and wellness. Retiree breakfast in the morning, so will talk to you later in the day.

Mema Jo said...

Good night All
Prayers for all needs being said
((hugs)) ♥

Lolly said...

Just got on to say good night. Googled Raton and Hot Air Balloons. The man who told us about them was wrong....the balloons will be the 4, 5, 6 of July. Hopefully we are outta here tomorrow before noon. Oh, well, another disappointment.

Nite all!

Sweet dreams!

stronghunter said...

Norma . . . my squirrels. I am experimenting with my new camera. Just took a picture of one of the little guys eating the bird food that the rain washed down from my feeder. George is keeping watch for me.

Too bad I didn't have access to you guys a few years ago when we were trying to identify a bird that we had visiting us every day and fighting with its own image in my husband's car mirror.

It would just sit there and poop all over his car door and fight with its own image. I do not think we even have any pictues--it was many years ago, but it was the funniest thing.

jmp said...

Good morning,

Mema Jo, I see Tiny on a branch and wonder if you know what the concern is about. Is it just that this eaglet is so much behind the other two? Saw some wing exercising earlier this a.m. Let's hope he/she graduates flight school soon.

Haven't seen/heard Hidey this a.m.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Judie

normabyrd said...

normabyrd said...

WHOA! SHIRLEY---I am still laughing!!---I wouldn't even try to think what my husband WOULD have said!---'it wouldn't have been printable'------(i needed that laugh)

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Shirley, the robins here do that all the time. They have done it to my neighbor's car and my brother's camper. And they are persistent, stay all summer doing that!!

stronghunter said...

Wasn't a robin. I will give my hubby credit. He was more intrigued than aggrivated . . . even though he's now my "ex," he did okay on that one.

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' JMP!!---I'm not familiar with that site!---I heard 'BABY' when I logged on this am!---but don't think she was in the nest!!!

stronghunter said...

. . . feathers and duck feet.

Lolly said...

Good morning! We are getting the trailer ready to head out so when they bring the van we can leave quickly!

Had a good nights sleep. Jacob slept over 12 hours. He fell asleep with food in his mouth at supper. LOL

Saw 8 balloons this morning but the festival does not start until tomorrow.

Going to say bye now. And it will be a good thing if you do not hear from me again today.

Have a great 4th! Say a prayer that we will be home for the 4th.

Bye!

Hi again,

Never seen a robin attack its own image but our cardinals do that all the time -- told they think the image is competition. Lolly, happy you all are on the way home. Sissy, hope you get better but a doctor might be the best thing. Normabyrd -- hope Mema Jo knows something -- maybe eaglets can be like students -- a little slow sometimes. Also, what a cool name for a cool grandson. Okay, hear Hidey again.

stronghunter said...

Yep, Deb... ginger ale, 7-Up, or, in a pinch, baking soda and water...or Gatorade w/electrolytes should sweeten that stomach up very well. [Forgot all about Alka-seltzer and Bromo-seltzer. hahaha.]

For me a peanut butter and jam sandwich with plenty of milk would take care of my needs for a few hours.

I'm wondering if Lolly is "outta Dodge" or just getting ready for WHEN the van gets back...Sure hope she is on her way home. Just seems to me that there is no excuse to keep people waiting that long for repairs. How long does it take to find a part for a fairly new van. If it was 25 years old, I might understand. OK, calm down Wanda!

jmp said...

Hi,

The OK "sooner" has learned to fish -- just brought in its own late lunch.

One eaglet, probably Tiny, in Dukes nest.

Hidey when poof -- no late lunch, I guess.

Judie

stronghunter said...

Judie, I see the OK eaglet. It looks like he has probably finished lunch now.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good afternoon my eagle budlets!

stronghunter said...

Hi Sharon, I like your new avatar.

stronghunter said...

I've put off my errands too long. Must go get them done.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Thanks Shirley. I have one hanging out in the flicker tree. Such a beautiful bird.

hedgie said...

Hi friends! Caught up on blog and email and read papers. Still have crosswords to do, but feel a panda nap coming on!
Jim....nix the baking soda in water....can have a laxative effect in some people, and can elevate blood pressure in people who have hypertension! It's one of the old-time remedies that isn't a good one!

hedgie said...

Margy must have really been wiped out this am....no comments from her before she hit the pillows.
Hoping that Lolly gets on the road...can you imagine how awful it would be if the mechanic decided to shut down early for the holiday weekend???

hedgie said...

Sissy...glad you feel better than you thought you would, but sorry you aren't 100%....knee could be a meniscus....and ribs could be broken....don't put off til Mon. what you can do today! Please feel better.
How is Justin doing? What did the cops do???

jmp said...

Hi,

OK eaglet seems to be finishing up. No Hidey. Also, going to have to be more careful proofreading. I'm getting sloppy.

Judie

hedgie said...

My eldest's good friend got beaten up by an abusive boyfriend last night...cops couldn't find him...they told her to come into station today to file a protection order...she went in and they told her it's a holiday and there wasn't a magistrate to handle it until Mon. Know for a fact that there is always an on-call magistrate...he or she will get called out to arraign the criminal if he kills her over the weekend! As usual...protections and amenities for the guilty but not the victim.

magpie said...

That's BS Hedgie ! Always an on-call magistrate and especially for emergency protection orders. Hope she pushes harder on that one! As if the Hostage situation is not fresh in our memories!

Just had time to check a few comments but this one went through me like a knife! Sorry for the terminology but that's the way I feel about it. Piece of paper or not, it does afford some protection and an immediate arrest for an infraction !

Now, on to some other topics...
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!

xoxo

magpie said...

I think I would call that magistrate - and say "Remember Raider Lane ????" do you want this situation on YOUR conscience ??

Double Grrrrrrrrrrrr !!!

magpie said...

Passionate I can be about these things ! sorry folks, you might not have seen this vitriolic side of me before.....but we TAKE these calls at 9-1-1 and can sometimes hear the smacking around in the background. Okay, NOW on to other topics....

hedgie said...

Looks like night is coming to Finland...shadows too dark to make out the little ones, but mom is sitting up keeping guard.

magpie said...

Oh yeah, one more thing, I am in charge of making tapes of calls so unfortunately have to hear them over and over again. Okay I am adjusting the air conditioning controls here so I can cool down a little ):

magpie said...

I still can't get Finland water to open - Patience.....sure enjoyed the pics that Helen sent me though. Now THAT was an upper !

magpie said...

Okay so Lolly says if we don't "see" her on here again she might have the Blessing of being Homeward Bound! Sure hope so!

I see Sissy is ailing, Sharon is protective, and there are bird stories all around.

On the way home this morning, about a mile from my house, watched four bucks! With healthy racks in velvet, and one doe, cavorting around like it was recess time! Never observed such a playful display, it was great.

magpie said...

Rats! Hit the wrong key and zapped my message...

Hope to catch up more, later, but did surely see that MIts had some M&M time and that Mema Jo is going to have a double Military Grandson visit today ! Hallelujah Hawaii

You all take care, I will "see" you later. Got to call Amtrak for train schedules, and recoup some lost sleep time....

God Bless Us Every One
and may everyone her be treated like the Royalty they are !xoxox ☺ ♥

hedgie said...

Thanks, Margy, for sharing my outrage and frustration. My kid didn't know whether she was dealing w/ state or county last night...you may have taken the call....it was off Butts Mill Rd., but not the 1st road that I heard on scanner, so it must have been either while I was in tub or after I hit the hay. Her father located where the guy had settled....don't know if they called that back in or not. She is going to stay with Carolyn after she gets off work, I think....jerk doesn't know where that is! Luckily, her kids are with their dad for the weekend so she doesn't have to try to protect them, too.

hedgie said...

BTW, Margy, taping the July 4th shows for you tomorrow evening, in case you have to work. Will put on same tape as Memorial Day and then I WILL get it to you soon.

magpie said...

Well Lynn - I think I might have been out of the Dispatch room making a copy of a tape ! Mauve Road maybe? -
- I am not sure which agency handled it...but I don't think it was County.

Okay, prayers for her safety !

xox TTFN xoxox Hang in there !

magpie said...

The magistratates numbers are required by state law to be published - so if she can obtain the name of the magistrate on call, then she might might make her OWN headway on this.

Geez!

Okay, this is my third good-bye -I really mean it this time, got to call Amtrak !

xoxo

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Hidey is in the nest.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And she is eating.

hedgie said...

Do you have to make reservations for Amtrak, Margy, or just show up and buy tickets?? Did you get my email about the chauffer??
When I was coming back from town this am I had to stop at Laurel Ridge to let the geese cross the road! There were 16 of them...other lane stopped, too, so they made it safely---single file, of course!! LOL! They were going from Petrucci's over to the pond at L.R.

hedgie said...

Yep, Margy, it was Mauve Rd.

hedgie said...

I'll tell Carolyn to tell her that info. Apparent from radio traffic that cops don't usually know who the mag is on call until they ask Central, so guess she could call non-emergency and ask, huh??

hedgie said...

Let's all hope that Lolly is "on the road again" (Megan, we need a link!)...wonder if Jack is up to driving straight through to get home ASAP?!
Gotta go rest these eyes....y-a-w-n! BBL.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Our lovely Hidey is still eating, standing at 2 o'clock. The breeze is really blowing at the nest.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

She is quite loud.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Now Hidey is sitting in the middle of the nest and I hear one of the parents calling nearby.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Now she is looking straight up and just a squawling.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Poop shoot.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

She did some wingersizing and then took off at about 4 o'clock position.

jmp said...

Lynn, so sorry about the abuse. Hope all is resolved quickly. Also hope the friend keeps a record of any contact in any form. Helps to build a case, if necessary. Regretably, it is the victim who must self-protect.
Medical report, restraining order and police report are first steps.

Hidey either bored or in the mood for rearranging stick furniture. Been there quite a while which is a super treat.

Off for a rare night on the town with husband.

Judie

Costume Lady said...

Bye Hidey...what a nice visit!

PA Nana said...

Hi Everyone!
Is there something wrong with Hidey? S/he's been in the nest at least 45 minutes, hollering for 25 of them, and appears to be looking for food in the nest (nestovers?) or for the parents to bring in his/her dinner.
Could the parents be encouraging him/her to hunt for their own food?
Oops! Hidey got tired of waiting and just took off. Guess there's nothing wrong with him/her

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Glad to know I wasn't watching Hidey by myself. :)

Costume Lady said...

What a wonderful day it is here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown! 72°. Just perfect for working in the garden and yard. We have 2 ripe tomatoes.....WAHOO!

Costume Lady said...

Hi Sharon...I was taking a break from fixing supper and got lucky...Hidey was home! Isn't it just sooo special to see the results of Lib AND Bell's labor, entertaining us? They worked so hard to bring this spoiled brat into this world and I hope they are enjoying him/her as much as we are!

The noise I hear from the cam; could it be a branch hitting it and not our little imp? I see the wind is blowing and while Hidey was in the next I heard that clunking sound so it wasn't her/him.
In case, I don't get back later, have a good evening everyone and best wishes for a super holiday weekend.

Hope you are Sleeping Sweetly, cool story about the Geese! Got your message about being my chauffeur: I'll discuss it with you. I got my reservations -
Think it was necesssary, Wanda - did not want to take a chance on not getting seating!
I budgeted the right amount for this trip with a little leftover !
We'are going "business class" - and we can hit the dining car with some of that "leftover."

I'm gonna hit the back roads and look for some wildflowers, then on to the creek for some evening roosting - maybe I will see some of those Cedar Waxwings and, I hope, either an Osprey or two, or some Red-shouldered or Broad-winged hawks.

Best wishes to Every☺ne !
With a lot of xoxo's and ♥'s

Hi, everyone!

Have been running around all day, but back home now, and wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND! Hubby & I went to brunch and to see the latest Ice Age movie with my sister-in-law. That movie is really cute! Love the little 'acorn critter'!

We will be staying at my SIL's house for the weekend and beyond-- they're going to Hawaii to their time share, and we're babysitting all 3 bulldogs. Much easier to do at their house than ours! Wanted to mention, though, that I might not be able to get on the blog until Monday.

You know, I've wondered too, PA Nana, if that clunking isn't just a tree branch. It's possible that Hidey sits on it sometimes, though.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to see a Cedar Waxwing again! Absolutely love them.

Well, better get going-- more to accomplish. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! Prayers for all, with much thanksgiving. :o]

Was wondering if you or Jim rushed right online to get your tickets to MJ's memorial?????? Right!!

Well . . . I turned on the cam and there was Hidey. But she's already gone after a couple of squeals.

Interesting piece about eagles in my local newspaper:

http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2009/072009/07022009/477142

Sorry, I do not know how to make this into one of those convenient links. (Maybe one of you could help me.) The article is about a count of bald eagles on the Potomac.

They found 488 bald eagles between the 301 bridge in King George County and Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County. They found 344 eagles in this area last year. The count was done by Jeff Cooper of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

Hope that everything is okay with Paula and Megan....they have been scarce this week! Also thoughts going out to MIA's like Dave and Red and Pauleo. Know that Candy is still having computer issues; Chrissy keeps in touch w/ email but time factor is an issue from across the pond---which I think means that she is no longer suffering form insomnia!! Yippee! AnneMarie found her ranch according to her Facebook entry! She was apparently working off of youthful memory....way to go, gal!

hedgie said...

Shirley, that is amazing information!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I will send you an email telling you how to create a blue link!!

Happy 4TH of JULY weekend everyone!!!***
Took some pics at Park TU after work & got some birds I wasn't sure about, so have been studying books to ID them. One is still a mystery, but all my experts will be off tomorrow, so I might put it on blog as a mystery bird. Someone may know what it is.
They'll be on soon...
And Hedgie, PLZ send me also the directions for Blue Link. I can't find that anywhere in Blogger.TY

hedgie said...

The link I posted was just to the home page....the actual article link is way down the page.....sent Shirley the address for it and will let her try to post it here!!!

stronghunter said...

Okay, Lynn, I am getting a message from the Blogger that says "Your HTML cannot be accepted. Tag is not allowed." It has happened twice now. This is the same thing that happened when I tried this before.

Loretta, you have mail!

Loretta, if Deb is feeling better, she may hop on here and ID your bird.

hedgie said...

Here, too, Mits! Don't know why folks can't wait til tomorrow evening...some people think they have to make it a week-long event...dog is not a happy wiener at the moment.

magpie said...

Sounds like a Civil War Re-enactment around here, and I heard same kinds of things from the CAM!

I am going to guess, for now, Loretta, juvenile male or female bluebird...but that beak has got me wondering.

Loretta
you saved us a lot of trouble by listing all the things it does NOT have.
