Thanks for the new thread, Steve.

Shirley you know how to use the a for the blue right just put a b instead of the a

this gives you bold

stronghunter said...

I only know how to make a blue link. Do you use the same codes for the other blue thingy?

jmp said...

Hi everyone,

Thank you, Steve.

Left a message at the end of Sunday's thread.

Eleanor Holmes Norton may not be receptive but it never hurts to try. No contacts in her office.

DANA...I took no offense at you for telling me that I had missed Anne-Marie's earlier comments...Was glad that she felt well enough to contact us earlier than today. And--if you don't read all comments, you may miss something important:)

THANKS STEVE for the SUNNY THREAD!-----ENJOY YOUR DAY!!----MORNIN' MEGAN----Thanks for the call over!!!----LIFE IS GOOD!

stronghunter said...

Congrats Judie! You got the message in a spot that should be noticed by many. I did send letters to the Fredericksburg paper and the Culpeper paper, but so far nothing has happened.

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley use the letter a for blue links and the letter b for black bold links.

use arrow to left put b inside then close b with arrow to right...then type what you want in for bold then at the end no space use arrow to left no space then a slash that is on with the ? mark then put the b and enclose with arrow to right

stronghunter said...

The Norton Website has three e-mail links. Should be easy to send her a message.

I emailed our NW DC buddy---sent him Judie's Post Letter and sent the EHN link also. Hope he will forward. Told him to mention he is a DC resident. Hope they won't be picky about Judie's address. If so, if he's willing, I asked him to perhaps put something in his own words. He's a poli/sci + English major! Worked at US Senate w/Fubby.
Gotta get ready for mtg-----BBL

Hi,

Taking a break. If anyone needs an official address you are welcome to use my home: 8114 Saxony Drive, Annandale, VA 22003. Just don't give it to Homeland Security as I might have large black SUV's followig me around -tee hee!

Thanks for the "back pats" but this is a group effort and I just got lucky.

Ok, eagle lovers! Time to go to work. Judie's letter has already gotten one negative comment--"let'em move to the suburbs." I've added my remark already.

You will have to log on to their site, but if I can do it, I know you can.

hedgie said...

Morning, gang! Great ltter, Judie, and shame on the commenter!
Refresh my memory, please, Judie....Saxony is where? I spent my teen years in A'dale (GO ATOMS!!! We were state football champs my junior year!). We lived on Beauford Circle, off of Masonville Dr., off of A'dale Rd. near Hummer & Gallows instersection.
Good to hear that Anne Marie has plenty of help, and that she's recovering!
Got an "out of office" response from the guy at GSA.

hedgie said...

Lovely morning here...only 73. Saw a young 6 pt. buck a little while ago. Squirrels found peanuts I put out yesterday...guess they are happy!

stronghunter said...

Wonder if you will have peanut plants growing in your yard, Lynn? I got a kick out of watching a squirrel hiding pecan pieces in the clumps of grass in my back yard.

hedgie said...

Megan....missed you again, but sure glad to see that you had a shot at using the puter!

hedgie said...

Shirley, you have mail!
LOL....peanut plants in the woods!

hedgie said...

It would be good if anyone knows someone in Nortons' district, since email sites say that messages outside it will not be accepted.

They are resurfacing the entire parking lot today, and I dutifully got my vehicle out of there by 7 A.M.

Now I've got to get me cleaned up and out of here, move my car, maybe find some place to go for the day.

I'm very glad to read that Anne-Marie is home and doing better. [:~D]

Have a great day, everybody.

Lynn,

We are in a subdivision called Camelot which is between Gallows and Little River -- maybe half mile from Annandale/Hummer. Been here 22 years. Our first three months were spent in an apt on Americana Dr.

Thanks for the backup Shirley. Just goes to demonstrate how selfish humans have become -- so sad.

Hot here but birds, squirrels, chipmonks very busy this morning. Peanuts, sunflower seeds, carrots for thumper -- husband says I will put us into the poor house feeding wildlife. Crippled bambi returned to eat seeds and flowers.

Back to work.

hedgie said...

Jim, have fun doing whatever you end up doing for the rest of the day!! Hope you didn't have to park too far away!

Mema Jo said...

Good Late Monday Morning To All!
I have been checking out the cams to see how many eaglets are still in their nests. Wound up on the Panda cams Norma Luney being attacked by Lun Lun (fight-play I think)

Another beautiful day - didn't have any rain yet...

Congrats to Judie on the Post's Letter to the Editor being published and to all others who have received responses. You all are the greatest as far as I and the eagles are concerned!

stronghunter said...

Thanks, for the e-mail, Lynn. I was wondering how you all were doing those things.

I notice I misspelled the guy's name in my response at the Post site. Oh well. Didn't have on my reading glasses.

hedgie said...

Yep, Judie, know exactly where you are!
We moved there from Falls Church in '63...was there til I got married in '71; mom was there until about '80 then moved to an apartment at intersection of 236 and Ravensworth Rd. until she went to FL in '89. Of course, schoolbus took Americana to school everyday!
Isn't it a small world??!!

stopping in to say HI. Looking forward to my very last shift "on a schedule" tomorrow night. I so need a break. Dex and I are going to see if we can find our wheels. Just have a short overnight with a friend a couple of hours away planned so far. Since he is blind now I want to see how he does in a strange setting on a leash before we do the longer trip and motel thing. Hoe you all are having a good day.

Mema Jo said...

The day is much better since you have said Hello! Good luck with Dex - hope his other senses have increased! As long as you hold the leash Dex will do well! Hope you are well and it is so great to hear from you!

Another break -

It's me with the crippled bambi. Looks alert and is able to jump the 4ft fence so can't call animal control because I cannot have bambi killed in my backyard. Maybe mine will survive for a long time. It's a young'un.

Don't know Dex but am sure the loving care will ease his/her adapting.

Lynn, small world indeed. Now everytime I drive by I'll think of you.

Afternoon everyone. Mits called while I was out but did not leave a message or call my cell phone. She should be on her way back soon and my son will leave for Switzerland in a few hours. Seems like all I am doing is watching planes go back and forth.

ceil said...

juvie at Norfolk. He is so pretty

hedgie said...

Judie, is this the first time you've seen the fawn? What kind of injury does it have? Poor thing.
Yea! Anne Marie felt well enough to blog! You go, girl!
Ceil, wish we could get you on a plane! It's a long cruise to the Orient, if you want to go!! Glad your son is back from that trip...and now off on another adventure...is it his first time in Sweden?
When does Mits come home? End of the week? All of these lucky travelers!!

hedgie said...

Mowing is done...but will probably need it again in a week---couldn't get it as short as I wanted since Sat. rain DIDN'T wet things down enough. Dust...choke, choke! Glad that it's not a real lawn that needs real care!

ceil said...

Lynn Mits is on her way back now. First time son has been to Switzerland.
Lynn I was thinking of you. It is warm out there today.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I didn't do it but my grass did get mowed today. It was getting pretty tall.

ceil said...

Hey Sharon.

hedgie said...

Oops, Ceil...got countries mixed up! Switzerland is probably more lovely than Sweden! That really was a quick trip for Mits!
Heat wasn't bad since humidity is low...and we do have a little breeze. Thanks for thinking about me, girlfriend!!

So glad to hear from Anne Marie!
Prayers for her to heal quickly!

jmp said...

Crippled bambi showed up first time last week and is more than a fawn. I figure about a year or maybe two. Looks female. Right front leg projects sideways so only three legs being used. If I thought it was suffering pain or starvation, I would change my mind but --- not in my backyard.

Nice to see Anne-Marie is up for a few minutes.

Sure wish Hidey would make an appearance sometme today or this evening -- just like an adolescent to stay out all hours.

Mema Jo said...

Also hope Mits gets that taxi home from the airport. I bet she is happy she had sunny skies to fly into coming home!

ceil said...

Jo I was thinking that Margy and James should be at their destination. Hope they enjoyed it.

hedgie said...

Loretta, don't know what the wards/districts are....St. E's is in SE...don't know who the councilmember is for that area, but wouldn't be the same person as NW...hope any of them would at least throw the ball to the right person! Of course, Norton is like a congressperson who represents the entire city, but won't take messages from outside.
Hope Mits doesn't get caught in rush-hour coming home form airport.

hedgie said...

I find it amazing that Amtrak can make a run to Massachusettes in about 8 hrs., but takes 24 to get to St. Louis!! There are alot of stops on the northeast corridor, too...but guess no connection layovers like going to midwest!

LOL about Barry, Judie!!!!
Loretta, sounds good---don't remember if anyone else contacted MD people or not. Wonder if Bill made contact with Byrd's office today.
Good news for Duke, Jo!
Speaking of Bill...my Bill spent afternoon in ER with his mother---she went to visit a dying friend and her dog tore open all four fingers..practically denuded them, it sounds like....many stitches, antibiotics, tetanus, soft cast, sling, etc. Apparently dog okay on shots---animal control called to verify. She's referred to a surgeon for Weds. She is 83. They told her she would be in a lot of pain.

hedgie said...

Good, Ceil, glad you did that....I'm sure from past experience that Capito will be way off base when she replies, too---and she only replies snail mail.

Mema Jo said...

Too funny, Wanda! lol

Sorry to hear about Bill's mother's incident. Sounds like an over protective dog.

hedgie said...

Mits is online! Guess no rush-hour jam!! Welcome home, Helen!

hedgie said...

Jo, dog is normally outside, but the lady's son forgot that it was IN when he opened the door for Rose, and I guess dog WAS protecting its territory.

deb said...

I am done for the day. I have to mow, too, but might rest a bit before I do. Work is not physically demanding, but sometimes it drains your brain! We had system issues this pm, that is what drained my brain today. :(

deb said...

I was going to give you an update on my Uncle. He has a special brace now that helps him walk. Last night he walked 530 feet! When he first got it, he had trouble with coordinating walking and activating the brace. His gait was very herky-jerky (their term). Now he is getting that all figured out and is really taking off. They even got to go to Cripple Creek for 2 weeks of relaxation, but have to go back to continue therapy.

I am caught up on blog.

deb said...

He has come a long way, Dana. The doctor's told him he would never walk again. Here he is today, walking and he has tried fishing and golfing already. He is definite proof of the power of prayer and determination!

hedgie said...

Deb, glad to hear that Uncle Bob is doing so well. Hope the "Cripple Creek" moniker didn't depress him. Where is it? In Texas?
Sorry your day was trying. Your weather must be good again if you're going to mow!

deb said...

Cripple Creek is in Colorado, right behind Pike's Peak. It was a mining town, way back when. All of my mom's 9 brothers and sisters were born there in the family home--2 bedrooms, maybe 1000 sq ft at the most. It is a tourist town now with gambling available.

Sad but I saw lying along the highway a little fawn that had been hit.

Mema Jo said...

Barn Owls on Wild Watch... I think it IS NOT the mother but just one of the older chicks. Did some leg stretches and then huddled with the other 3.

deb said...

I missed the preening at the Owl Cam. I see three owlettes, but they are bunched in the corner. I hope # 4 is just hidden in the pile of fluff!

deb said...

Mema Jo said...

Yes, Deb - I do like to see 4 sets of feet in that owl box! lol

deb said...

Roger and I saw a Great Horned Owl yesterday. It was quite a ways off the road. When I first pointed it out, we thought it was going to be a Red-tail, but when we stopped to check it out, the shape was wrong. It is strange to see a GHOW in the middle of the day out in the open.

I think most everybody has gone to bed by now. I just happened to be looking over the blog when I saw Judie's question about the ROFLMAO comment, and I had to say something because every once in a while I do have to look up things you say.

Wikipedia or one of the dictionaries online does explain them. Of course, you all are always nice enough to explain. But the comment about Barry just blew my mind!

Deb, it is just as well you don't know much about him! It is amazing that he keeps getting elected.

I spent a good part of the evening talking to my younger daughter. She has just told me that she is planning a trip to Hawaii and is going diving in a shark cage. I don't think I could do that. I am not sure where she gets some of her ideas.

I enjoyed reading your blogs this evening.

I haven't been on in days, computer problems. Had to get a new computer and spent all evening yesterday trying to install my work program on it. What a pain!! But it is done now and I am so grateful.

Hey everyone,
I got a reply back from USFW yesterday that the plan for the access road thru Shepard Park
has already been addressed and modified to protect the nesting site.
Norma,I did follow up with Sen.Byrd's office Monday, the lady
I spoke with,Joann Warner, assured me that Sen.Byrd was most concerned about the nest and would be following the future plans for the DOHS complex not only for the nest but the historical side of the final plans.

We should ask them to put some cams in the proposed area so we could keep an eye on them!!!!

Maybe someone should put a web cam on M. Barry, since he is a part of DC's wild life.

Costume Lady said...

SISSY, COME BACK! I'm sorry I didn't get to you sooner...I was wandering through the news.

Costume Lady said...

Good Morning, Shirley...Remember, they did have a cam on him when he was doing the drug thing in the motel?

Costume Lady said...

LOL...he is, indeed, part of DC's Wildlife;)

stronghunter said...

Yes, somewhere I think I have a copy of that sting on Barry. My hubby brought it home from work.

Costume Lady said...

SISSY, I do know how you feel. Spent all my money on a car last year and a few months later, HAD to get a new furnace, a little later, a new freezer, then a new hot water heater...And now, the discovery of TERMITES when we had our patio doors replaced + need a new fridge and stove and rug in the kitchen. Was getting new drapes, but they will have to wait! Hope we have a good year in the Costume Shop:):)

You know, Shirley, after viewing that video of Mr. Barry, how can anyone vote him back into office? He looked so sleezy and pitiful, I just can't believe how people rallied around him and treat him like a saint??

We hit the Culpeper paper this morning, but I'm interested in Bill's comment that the road has already been moved to accommodate the nest. Wouldn't that be nice?

Thanks Wanda, yeah when it rains it certainly pours. Ya'll might know about that site above, but I just found it. It is a live osprey cam with sound. First time I have ever seen it.

Costume Lady said...

Yes, Bill had good news...I hope that is a DONE DEAL, and not just THINKING ABOUT IT.

Okay, that link isn't working.
