hedgie said...

Wanda, what can I bring???? (besides a bib, LOL!)

magpie said...

Well how about that! A new late night thread...that's really great
Thanks, Ceil for the news and Steve for the action!

Oh, if there are any weak tummies on here, avoid the live cam....Boris is doing his acrobatics !

ceil said...

Hi Wanda and Lynn.

magpie said...

I hear ya' about that Week-end and Holiday work stuff, Loretta - I lucked out this week-end.

paula eagleholic said...

Good evening, all my eagle friends!

Hope everyone is doing well...haven't been online for several days...work keeping me busy.

Hopey everyone has a Happy 4th of July!!

ceil said...

Hey Margy. Was just about to look in on the nest. Think I will wait.
Good night all. Pleasant dreams.

paula eagleholic said...

Hi Margy, Ceil, Wanda and Lynne!

Aren't you up late Ceil? And Margy must have the night off...

magpie said...

Good to "see" your smilin' face, Paula

I know we can put out a "Silver Alert" for the oldies, but what do we name the alert for the Young'ns?

Like Paula, Megan...

paula eagleholic said...

Has Hidey been around?

I see the 30 second cam is stuck again :(

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, guess it never got unstuck from last week...:(:(

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Margy I have no idea what you would call that!

NatureNut said...

Hello, new thread!Hope Steve isn't becoming a night owl like me!
I never even got a chance to look at cam, but will now, Paula.

Costume Lady said...

BLONDIE ALERT: Megan and Paula:)

magpie said...

Well, I don't really mean "Oldies" - just maybe those of us over 50 ☺

Hmmm, will have to ponder a name for the young'ns alert.

Hope you have some relaxation time for the week-end Paula...

ceil said...

Hi Paula. Good to hear you.
Hi Loretta. Will look at you pictures before I turn in.

paula eagleholic said...

LOl Wanda... more like a worked to death alert!

ceil said...

Great avatar Loretta.

paula eagleholic said...

I need to find a holiday avatar!

magpie said...

Blondie Alert, pretty good one Wanda
but Paula I think you hit the nail on the head !

Okay, I cooked for a change, and ate, now I have to clean up
:(

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, it would be our pleasure for you to just come and enjoy the evening. Gene has his menu planned.
More than enough food for all.

magpie said...

Oh Yeah ! Love that Flag, 'Nut!

I am sad to say that I did not qualify for an AMTRAK senior citizen discount...have to be 62 for that. Oh well....I can live with that I think.

TTFN ☺

hedgie said...

Hi, Ceil....goodnight, Ceil!!! Short visits are fun! Hey, hey, Paula (Megan, need a song link!)...sorry you are working too hard!!

ceil said...

Loretta love the pictures. Good night again. Doing a Margy. LOL

magpie said...

Ceil - I always love seeing your avatar, but that Seal is So Serious!!! Gives me a chuckle when I compare it to your bubbly personality !

Did I say TTFN ?

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, just noticed your new Avatar...Cool!

NatureNut said...

Well, doesn't look like Hidey is sleeping in the nest tonight. The Blob is even worse and Spidey is decorating the top!
Last night I was too late to save a firefly still blinking from a small spider wrap, but knocked down the web & that beast won't be back!

hedgie said...

Wanda, I hate to come empty-handed!! If you insist.....but I'd be happy to contribute.
I love the Blondie Alert....but might not apply to ALL of our youngsters!
Margy, senior discounts can add up!! You are old enough for AARP---if you are already a member, they might have something Amtrak-y listed in their offers!!

NatureNut said...

Night, Ceil!! Late shift for you too, huh? ☺

Costume Lady said...

I checked my slug traps this morning and there were some lightning bugs in the trap. I put beer in the traps...so they were either dead or drunk;)

hedgie said...

Just saw it today in an email, Wanda....had to grab it!! TY.

NatureNut said...

Wanda, if they were still blinking a lot, then they were partying!!!

NatureNut said...

I said I was gonna finish stuff to get to bed early--DUH.
Hopefully when the crowd dies down at the Park, I can read some comments tomorrow! Most of you will probably be celebrating, so Have a Capitol 4TH!!!!

Costume Lady said...

I know what you mean, Lynn, but don't want you to bother with anything...just enjoy the evening with us. You know Gene loves to cook. He's doing ribs, New Yorkers, corn, cole slaw and GeeGee is making a fruit salad.

Costume Lady said...

Loretta, I'd like to think they were partying;)

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Ceil, again:)

paula eagleholic said...

OK, I read today's blog...Hidey in the nest 2X...what a treat...glad ya'll got to see him!

hedgie said...

Don't think I've ever seen as many slugs as I have this year, Wanda....ugh.....

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda, what are New Yorkers???

I got my first squash today!

Costume Lady said...

It's always a special treat to tune into the nest and see Hidey standing there...like, where have you been!

hedgie said...

Sounds like quite a feast...yum, yum!

PA Nana said...

Thanks Steve. I'm new but everyone thanks you when a new blog appears, so here's mine.
Hey everyone, those still up, does the little imp ever sleep over in the nest? I haven't seen him/her at night since s/he fledged. Or am I just not tuned in to his/her schedule? I having some withdrawal symptoms ... other cams don't have light.

Costume Lady said...

Wow! Our squash is only about an inch long.
New Yorkers are hot dogs served with saurkraut that has been cooked for 2 days in a slow cooker along with chunks of pork. Very good! Come join us and have some:)

Costume Lady said...

I think Hidey has only spent one night in the nest since fledging. I'm not sure.

paula eagleholic said...

There...that's better :)

PA Nana said...

Costume Lady you're making me hungry! It's late but a snack won't hurt - much.

hedgie said...

I think it's only been one night, too.

paula eagleholic said...

Yum, sounds good Wanda.

Hidey has spent more than one night in the nest...spent plenty after fledging....now is perching in branches near parents, I'm sure.

paula eagleholic said...

Welp, hope Lolly made it home, Sissy is not too sore, and everyone has a good evening. Signing off for tonight....have to finish mowing the lawn in the morning, then out to find a fridge for Moms....haven't had much sleep this week...catch ya'll in the a.m.

Night, all.

Hugs to all ♥

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Paula...sleep in!

stronghunter said...

Hidey spent lots of nights flopped in the nest after fledging.

Costume Lady said...

Sandman is knocking at my door;)

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYRS FOR ALL

PA NANA...a little snack is good!

Costume Lady said...

Guess I didn't watch the nest at night often enough...didn't know what I was missing!
Nite.

stronghunter said...

I am ready to flop into my own nest. See you tomorrow!

hedgie said...

I don't watch at night! Was mostly just going by what Jim and Andrea have said. Oh, well....mea culpa.
Good night to all turning in...I'm following you out the door. Peace and prayers. Hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th!!

Mema Jo said...

Signing in to tell all you eagleland momsters good night.

Spent most of the day down the road visiting with Staff Sgt Ryan! WHoo Hoo!
He is doing very very well and looks great.

Have a great 4th tomorrow!
Hope the weather stays as great as today!

Prayers for all our needs!
(((hugs)) ♥

PA Nana said...

For those leaving, good nite and pleasant dreams. I tried to add a picture to my blog info but don't know if it worked yet. It a picture of one of my cats - MissChevious (Missy for short) on the kitchen windowsill sunning herself. She'll be mad when we close windows and put on the a/c. The cats have gotten a lot of exercise this evening with the windows open and firecrackers going strong. Some even scared me.
They head upstairs at those times and maybe crawl under a bed.

PA Nana said...

I see the picture showed. Who said you can't teach an old dog a new trick?!

jmp said...

Hi everyone,

Thanks Magpie. Just back home. Kennedy Center to see Color Purple. Didn't expect much. Bad review, tragic story as musical, and an American Idol winner as lead character. BOY WAS I WRONG! Really talented performers and Fantasia is a real show-stopper. Guess I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss American Idol winners.

Who's Boris? Is he really gross?

Night everyone. Back tomorrow sometime.

Judie

magpie said...

Probably too late to tell you Judie:

Boris is our resident Spider aka Spidey!

sometimes we just see his art work, but sometimes we see the artist AT Work. Not for the faint-hearted...

I just pulled "A Deb." Returned a call to a long-time friend...an hour later and I am seeing most everyone's "Good Nights."

xoxo

Black Bear celebrating the 4th at the Snowman Cam

ceil said...

Happy 4th of July all. Up because some celebraters drank too much and the police had to come. One police and about 15 celebraters. No one arrested but I can't get back to sleep. Jim called for backup because they had started to argue and only one police. He and the backup got them inside. One wanted to explain what happened. Police said are you going inside. It was funny. I thought you are going to spend the 4th in jail. He went in.

ceil said...

Oh and Happy Anniversary to Sissy and Tom.

stronghunter said...

Good morning! Testing out the theory that the knocking at the camera is the wind--probably sometimes, but sometimes we hear it right before an eagle lands in the nest, and just now I hear it when the wind isn't blowing. Would be fun to see what is up there.

Can't be Spidey / Boris, regardless of how big he looks, he can't be that big! I've seen a long-legged spider and a short-legged one. The spookiest is the one with the long legs. . .

normabyrd said...

LOVE & KISSES!!!

stronghunter said...

Judie--appreciate your review of Color Purple. Would love to see the play. I have to admit to being an American Idol fan and am happy to hear that Fantasia did well.

I read The Color Purple for a class I took some years ago, then used it for a course I taught. It generated some interesting discussions.

normabyrd said...

MORNIN! SHIRLEY!--keep us posted!--anxious to see what is making all that noise too!!

normabyrd said...

WHOA! MARGIE---One never knows if you are saying G'NITE or G'MORNING---ho!---You are so COOL!---I'll loan you my ID---(heck--after they see my birth-date---you will get to ride FREE for life) ho!

normabyrd said...

I saw 'The Color Purple' movie--many moons ago---80s!---I think I might like to see it again!---I am sure I would probably react entirely different now!----

stronghunter said...

I saw the movie back then, too, Norma, and showed it to my class.(Not a high school class.) If the play has a tragic ending, it is different.

stronghunter said...

Funny thing . . . when I taught the class, I planned everything around the theme of women's rights and worked the book and movie into the theme . . . somewhere near the end of class, one of my students commented, "Everything fits together. Did you plan it that way?"

normabyrd said...

you can't fool all of them all the time!! ho!---I watched the movie from a theme of woman's rights too!

Did you ever read the book--'The Woman's Room'---I think that's the title---think late 70s!!

jmp said...

Good morning, everyone!

Thank you Magpie. I feared Boris was a blogger of ill repute with very nasty habits. Might have had to add a "Boris Blocker."

Stronghunter: It might be interesting to assign characters from The Color Purple for my theories of personality class.

Nana PA: Welcome. I'm still a newbie yet everyone makes us feel very welcome.

I heard Hidey but no sign of him/her yet. I hope to get a glimpse later. No one home in OK and one eaglet on a branch at Dukes.

Thank you, Lynn. Lovely.

Off to get some coffee and the morning paper. Visiting the blog before coffee? I think I have an addiction and another example to add to the topic of addictive disorders.

Hope everyone is feeling well, mending and/or home with loved ones. God bless our military, police, and 911 operators who protect us everyday. Bless Hidey, the amazing symbol of all our freedoms.

HAPPY 4th 2009.
Judie

normabyrd said...

JUST GOOGLED---It's 'The WOMEN'S ROOM'---Marilyn French----WHOA!---that book was my wake up call---way back then---

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' JUDIE---REMEMBER---Have COFFEE while you blog!--ho!---works for me!

jmp said...

Ah, still haven't made it to the kitchen.

I did read the Women's Room. At the time it was considered quite radical. When I saw the movie Color Purple I took the women's rights perspective. Last night the woman next to me and I kept saying "you go, girl" then we'd look at each other and laugh. Now I also look at the characters from a psychological perspective -- how did they develop?

Judie

normabyrd said...

JUDIE---I remember after I finished reading it---I thought---Whoa!!---I knew that!! ho!

stronghunter said...

Yes, I put the coffee on to brew while I'm feeding George, then grab a mug and check the blog while I drink coffee.

Maybe the blog is addictive, but, professor, . . . is it a disorder? Surely some addictive things are perfectly healthy.

jmp said...

Rats! Knew I needed coffee. God bless our firefighters and nurses.

Good advice, Normabyrd!

Judie

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all!

Do we have a woodpecker in our tree?

normabyrd said...

M/T NEST at the NORFOLK 'REBELS' site!!---Look to the right & check---'EAGLET HH SATELITE TRACKING'!!----WOW!----'a wealth of EAGLE info!!

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' PAULA!---I have no sound now!!----mine comes & goes!

stronghunter said...

Listening for a woodpecker . . . I always wondered why a woodpecker would peck on my house which has almost no wood exposed. I read that they do it to make noise to establish their territory. So the woodpecker has claimed my house.

normabyrd said...

PAULA----LOVE YOUR AVATAR----

paula eagleholic said...

Got a good 8-9 hours...feel better!

Happy Anniversary Sissy & Tom!

What a pretty morning...gonna have a couple cups of coffee, then mow the front yard...

normabyrd said...

SHIRLEY--I am laughing now--but last spring they were pecking on my house---NOT FUNNY!---I have REDWOOD SHINGLES!!!!----

paula eagleholic said...

Shirley - sent you an email.

Judie - glad the play exceeded your expectations!

stronghunter said...

Norma, I am sure they could do serious damage. Have you seen the spider thing recommended to scare them away?

We had birds nesting in our dryer vent and used a funny-looking ball thing with eyes to scare them away. The spider thing is sound activated and drops down making a noise. I haven't seen it except on the ad.

paula eagleholic said...

Shirley - of course it is perfectly healthy to sit in front of the computer, watch the eagles, chat with friends, and get a numb butt! LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Got one of those owls down here in my basement you can have!

paula eagleholic said...

We have an owl here around our neighborhood...hear him all the time.

normabyrd said...

DAD was in the OSPREY NEST in FINLAND with two CHICKS snoozing---POW!!!---DAD took off---now chicks are alone!---But they are certainly camouflaged!! ---GOING TO CHECK BACK!!

stronghunter said...

Paula, I answered your e-mail.

stronghunter said...

Paula, it's comforting to know that what we are doing is healthy. It's just the coffee that is addictive.

normabyrd said...

The OSPREY CHICKS are still alone!----They are peeking out of the nest--please come back MOM!!

paula eagleholic said...

Got it Shirley...and thanks!

paula eagleholic said...

Exactly, Shirley! gotta have that coffee!

The knocking noise is gone.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, I read that finney water nest is working! And has 2 or 3 chicks! How cool is that, will have to check it out.

normabyrd said...

SHIRLEY used all kinds of shiny plates & the best things---I hung a couple of those silver things one puts on their windshield on sunny days---They blew in the wind!!---

paula eagleholic said...

And did Red pop in recently?

normabyrd said...

PAULA---What kind of OWL do you have in your basement???---WHOA!---How did that happen?---At least--you won't have any mice--ho!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh cool, the Finney water nest is on! The chicks have some pretty good camoflouge.
