Thursday September 7

Thursday post. I know some folks have been trying to get in touch with me. Please indulge my lack of communication and or response.

We are in final crunch mode on a 350 person conference here at NCTC that starts tonight and goes through the weekend.

Folks from all over the country are coming in for an invitation-only dialogue on the issue of children becoming disconnected with nature. We have been living and breathing this event for the past two weeks.

The inspiration for the event is the recent book by Richard Louv--Last Child in the Woods--Saving our Children from Nature-deficit Disorder. Highly recommended.
thanks-Steve

I'm thinking it will be "a cold day in hell", before, any of us get on that Atlanta cam. Did they really think people would not be flooding the site trying to get in?

I'll take...

Paula Since this is the reunion for the Lennox's, seems as though I am the only one who can make the potatoe salad - cooked dressing of course. So I am about to crack 13 eggs - you think Frieda could go ahead & crack her 3rd egg! But Paula, do you think it already has cracked & hatched? Saw Jim's reply to your pic.

Afternoon, Mits! Nice lazy day at the beach?

paula eagleholic said...

Mema Jo,
Probably hasn't...yum, love tater salad...

paula eagleholic said...

Might have hatched overnight...

paula eagleholic said...

Meant that it hadn't hatched yesterday, I would think today or tomorrow.

On the Frieda & Frodo site, the chicks are pictured also in Gallery 17.
Still think it is so funny that they referred to Its Twins. They must have been so excited about having 2. I just hope they don't announce the 3rd as Its Triplets!

Mits Cold day in hell - Well tell you one thing, I don't want to go there! LOL

At Thanksgiving my daughter may travel to GA - her destination is close to Atlanta. Maybe I can convince her to go to the Zoo on a day trip & get us some real live pics. How old was Tai when he was presented to the public??

Mema Jo said...

Ok Now I really am headed into my kitchen..... BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Jo,
They have 10 pics in there...

Yes, Paula, real lazy day, Think I have a bit of a stomach virus. Jo, Tai went on public display(you had to have a ticket to see him) around the beginning of December and went outside for the 1st time about a week before Christmas, even need a ticket when he went outside. nbc4.com has some really good shots of him and , also Animal Planet has some great early shots of him.

back from my travels. Found wonderful flowers for the upcoming wedding in my family No I am nOT getting married
Freida I see isn't in color yet. Can't get into the Panda cam either HMMM. Well I too think a video an dpicture a day will at least help to back some of the intense traffic away, and keep us a little bit happier

Of ocurse theywill be announcing the arrival of the "triplet" at some point today, is my guess. Once we Americans tell them he is there.

paula eagleholic said...

Freida is feeding chicks now...

paula eagleholic said...

Now, in living color!

Eaglet at NU, When it rains it pours!

Mema Jo said...

Those fuzzy babies are sooooo beautiful. It will be hard to tell if Frieda or Frodo is the one feeding them. Remember in Harrisburg that the male brought in food. I guess his work now begins!

Potatoe salad dressing finished! Now to the Pumpkin Cake...............

Making you all hungry?

paula eagleholic said...

Eaglet really mantling, fish..

In Brisbane it is 6am tomorrow morning for us...At the last feeding, you would think that someone has their binoculars handy & would be checking for the number of Chicks. They were pretty punctual in announcing the 2nd one. There isn't anything new on their home page yet.

I love watching the NU eaglet. That site is the closest to resembling our WV nest. I wish another would join him with a visit to the nest - he looks lonely..I miss Spunky,BigBoy & Inbetween
