don't know what time this would come in in some areas, but she will be on tomorrow.....

WBAL-TV11's own Sandra Shaw will share hosting duties and the national spotlight when she fills in as a guest co-host of Live With Regis & Kelly tomorrow morning, August 19, at 10 a.m. Sandra entered a contest and thanks to the viewers in Baltimore, she was one of only five media personalities from around the country chosen to fill in for Kelly. And since Sandra's entry tape focused on her participation in the Plunge, we fully expect her to come back home having talked Reeg into joining us on the beach at Sandy Point on January 30!

Be sure to tune in tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. to WBAL-TV11 and support your fellow Plunger Sandra! Plus watch TV11 News all day long as the station takes a "behind-the-scenes" look at her trip to New York and all that goes into being a famous co-host for a day.

Thanks, Margy. Brought over from old thread:

Deb, that will some blast!!! Hope they show it on the news tonight.

Going to the movies this afternoon...youngest daughter won tickets (radio station thing that she and co-workers win very often!) so we are going to see The Time-Travellers' Wife, and then an early dinner out.

Been on phone "arguing" with receptionist at Drs. office about my osteoporosis IV med---pit was supposed to have been ordered last month, and they haven't done anyhting yet....ARGH!

Trivia: ala Millionaire last night---Vultures are called a venue when in a group on the ground, but a kettle when they are circling. How about that? Remember all the vultures we saw on the manure piles at Patuxent??

Aha! Found ya! Still sitting listening to Tom's heart on the monitor, running a little low but they said he had a low heart rate when he came in, in the 40s. I don't know what that is about.

I would love to crawl over there with him and take a nap myself. Woke up at 2 and could not go back to sleep!!

Maybe I will go get food, that might perk me up!

Mits said...

the low heart rate now is probably due to the anesthesia....when are they releasing him?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Hopefully we will getting out of here before too much longer. They told us the other day it would be about 4 hours after he got out of surgery, so that is only about another hour or so. We will see. He is still sleeping, that Phenergan knocked him out. They said the gas they use to inflate the belly when they do laparoscopic surgery is what makes them so sick with this kind of surgery.

Dear Sissy, glad your husband is doing o.k. I had the same surgery back in the 90's and went back to work in 10 days. My last job was in outpatient surgery. Don't let the staff push him out the door too fast, I was glad I was able to spend one night in the hospital. Good luck to both of you. God Bless. Gwen

Sissy, if you are not aware and you and Tom were not told, sometimes sleeping can be uncomfortabe until the gas dissipates. Not the same reason fo surgery but for me it took about 24hours. Nothing to be alarmed about unless there is actual pain. Maybe our nurses can give more details, if needed.

Back to the laundry.

Happy Birthday to Candy!

Wishing Tom well fast! Should be uphill from here.

Good afternoon, everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CANDY!! HOPE IT'S A FANTASTIC DAY FOR YOU!

So glad to hear that Tom is out of surgery OK and is going home to rest up! Thank God! Sissy and Sharon, hope you can get caught up on the sleep you missed now, too.

Loretta, thanks for the ID on my bird!
I appreciate it. A Pied Wagtail--will have to look that up on the internet.

I have been busy in the yard this morning. The gardeners are supposed to be here some time today, and I always check to see if a sprinkler needs repair, and do a bit of trimming, etc. before they get here.
All the deadheading is done for the week.

Think I'm going to go shopping today to look for some clothes I need to replace. See a couple of good sales going on.

It's been all quiet on the western front regarding our wacky neighbor. Only hear a couple of herons at night now, so they'll probably have left the area soon. That'll be a relief!

Jacob and I have been finding games on the computer. We found some great kids games at the ICE AGE web site.

Lolly said...

Time to get ready to go to Michael's. Jacob is soooo anxious to find the secret hidden door into the attic storage. It will be treasure hunt! hee hee

Costume Lady said...

Rain here too, Margy. Lots of thunder, but not enough rain to sustain a garden (maybe for one day). Greatful for any rain, though!

Lolly said...

In the hall upstairs there is a built in bookcase that swings open to another door that leads into the attic. mmmmmm??? Will they know where to find it?

Lolly said...

Deb, I watched the Crazy Horse cam all afternoon and especially around 2, but never saw anything.

magpie said...

Sounds like a lot of Fun, Lolly -
Enjoy your reports, will be fun to see pictures too. Bacon Pasta, sounds scrumptious!

magpie said...

Hey there Sharon... yep, saw that one and knew where it needed to go...you should see my pile of cards!

Wanda - hope the rain helped a little bit with the crops...
I didn't know we were expecting rain!

Costume Lady said...

Enjoy your evening Lolly.

Did anyone get to see the explosion at CRAZY HORSE? I turned the cam on at 4:00pm, but saw nothing:(

magpie said...

Sure glad to read that Sissy and Tom are headed to their Roost...
Hope the recovery period goes well!
Sharon - glad that you will be close by for them...☺

Costume Lady said...

The rain was just a "maybe" on the forecast. I don't like "maybes", so I watered the garden this morning. That's one way to make it rain...I don't dance so well anymore, MISS NORMA;)

magpie said...

I didn't, Wanda...was trying to sleep...didn't do a very good job at it either. :(
As long as I don't talk in my sleep on the radio tonight I guess I will get through okay...
But typing in my sleep is another story !

magpie said...

I got my schedule for September and October....dayshift, 6 am to 6 pm - still the 12 hour shifts.
Woof! I will be scheduled to work on October 17 and 18 ! Might have trouble getting the Saturday off because of the Apple Harvest Parade here in Martinsburg :(

Maybe, I can arrange a switch. If not, I will be one very sad Momster. But I could show up late for dinner!

Costume Lady said...

Are you doing another 12, Margy?

Judie said...

Hi all,

Back for a short visit.

Lolly, what goes into bacon pasta -- well, I figure bacon and pasta --any thing else? We love both and it sounds great. Have fun at Michael's tonight with all the family.

Jo, have fun with meatball.

Earlier this afternoon, Bai Yun provided everyone with a fantastic treat and let us see Diego for several minutes. Couldn't believe my good luck timing.

Don't see anything more about Tom. Hope the travel home was easy and he's resting now.

We had about 4 minutes of rain. Sure could use a bunch more and hope it cools off. Really steamy here today.

About to go off to the frig to search for inspiration and food, too. Thinking BBQ pork loin with green salad and potato salad.

Andrea, never heard of a Pied Wagtail. Have to google that.
So glad the neighbor has been quiet.

Judie

Costume Lady said...

Judie, Sissy and Tom are at home, resting. I read on facebook where Tom was having some problems with nausea. I think you mentioned that would be a problem, earlier. It is!

Costume Lady said...

Bacon Pasta may be something like Fettucini Alfredo/Bacon...love that!

Costume Lady said...

Shake n Bake chicken and salad here. Such an easy meal and sooo good.

Margy, do you have any tomatoes? I can drop off some on your porch tomorrow, if you don't.

magpie said...

Yes, Wanda going in for another 12 - then "sort of" off tomorrow, will sleep a little first thing, then have a shopping engagement with 91 yoa gal pal who loves to shop (and just get out, really...) then maybe a trip to Berkeley Springs...if it is safe to sneak out for a little bit while "on call." Got to plan around the "windows" of the work schedule when there are plenty of people in there.

and No, I do not have any tomatoes..would love some! If it is not too much trouble, or I could motor down to your place later in the evening and get them that way ☺

magpie said...

Have to tell you Wanda, the other day I was watching someting dangling near a sycamore tree, it glistened orange in the distance, thought for sure it was a Monarch emerging! Ha Ha joke was on me, it was a browning leaf suspended on a spider web! I tramped through some dense undergrowth to discover this !

magpie said...

But I did fine some magnificent Cardinal Flowers! Have lots of pictures to download, maybe in a day or so.

WANDAGENE has two cousins in a chrysalis and 4 crawling like rug rats all over the "house". Everytime I bring in fresh milkweed for them to devour, UP POPS ANOTHER! Hi all. I'm b-a-c-k and settled in and caught up.
Movie was okay....kind of wierd....don't think I've read the book. It was a little hard to follow...and just plain wierd! Not like any time-travel story I've read before. A little sad, particularly near end....if you have to pay to see it, I'd wait for it to come on TV!

Jo, I'll take chicken over meatballs!!
Have to laugh--I remember a couple of years ago fixing Shepherd's Pie for the grands----told daughter while I was fixing it and she they would never eat it. Well....there wasn't a bite left. She now has to fix it every week for them!!! LOL.

We did have a heavy storm while we were eating "linner" at 3:30. Very cloudy again now with a light sprinkle just finished.

hedgie said...

Real bummer that Margy has to work on open house day...hope she can trade!

stronghunter said...

Hello! Looks like things are pretty quiet on here right now.

I would like to say Happy Birthday, Candy!

Judie, the first syllabus ended up being 10 pages long and has been submitted for approval.

Hope chicken will be okay with Meatball. We had shrimp stir fry tonight.

Good to see that Tom is home. That's the best place to recover.

Diago has been more visible today. That is great!

Bacon pasta does sound good. May I have a recipe?

Hope I am making sense. I am pretty worn out tonight. I have a dentist's appointment tomorrow morning, so I will go in to work late. If I am lucky, I will miss convocation and get there just in time for the picnic.

hedgie said...

Sissy, Judie is right about the "gas" pains---they inflate the abdomen with so much air during a laparoscopy that is then freewheeling itself around inside that it can be very uncomfortable!! Tell Tom to lay on left side with left leg straight and right leg drawn up toward his chest. This lets all of the abdominal organs relax and lets the air move more freely. (also works for intestinal gas!)

Judie said...

Good grief, I get all worked up about maybe finding out how to make bacon pasta only to find out there are no meatballs tonight! Boo hiss! Well, meatball will like the chicken or, I bet, grandpa will help clean her plate. I do agree it is confusing not to have meatballs on Tuesday.

Margy, enjoy some time away from work tomorrow. Know you deserve it.

Ooooo! A secret door. Reminds me of Nancy Drew.

Wanda and Lynn, I do remember feeling a little nausea in recovery but not really being sick sick. Mostly not being able to get comfortable to sleep after getting home. Sissy, Tom may have trouble walking completely upright because of the discomfort for about a day. Not to worry.

How exciting to have an extended Wandagene family. What an amazing experience.

Shirley, you've got me beat. My longest syllbus is 8 pages. Sad but with wannabe adults these days, teachers need to have what amounts to a legal contract. Know you're tired. Tomorrow you will get an even prettier smile and a gold star for no cavities. How's Will?

Margie, too funny. Those turning leaves stuck in spider webs are just so very annoying. I saw a clump in the back lawn last week and thought Thumper was dead or injured. Ran to the rescue and then felt soooooooooo stupid! Stupid leaves!

Off to watch some t.v.

Is there a receipe for this Bacon Pasta or Fet. Alfredo Bacon Pasta? Who is having it? Sounds good.

Judie said...

Mits, glad I did a quick check. I'll tune into A&E in a few minutes. Thanks. Now, on to The First 48.

stronghunter said...

Just keep your fingers crossed that it gets approved, Judie. I think I have it nailed down, but . . .

I probably have more pages because my class is two courses combined into one. It is writing combined with literature. I have to include both the high school rules and requirements and the college rules and requirements. I will also have to attach a letter to parents.

Yeah, that is one mysterious house with secret doors. Fascinating for children!

Will is keeping the Jack Russell doggie again--West, his name is. I just got one of West's enthusiastic greetings. West is enthusiastic about everything. George is not enthusiastic about West.

In answer to your question, Judie, Will is fine, thank goodness. He is out walking the doggie.

I really want to meet Margy. I do hope she can make it to the open house.

A bumper crop of monarchs. How exciting! Wanda, I think of you every time I see milkweed. I can just picture you out there gathering it.

Dana, Lolly was making the bacon pasta dish. Don't remember who had the bacon fettucine alfredo recipe.....scroll back...you'll find it. Both sound delicious to me!! Love pasta salads of almost any kind!!

Goodnight Sissy and Tom...hope you both rest well...it's about time!

Shirley, how does George tolerate a doggie visit???

ceil said...

Oh Deb poor Gabby.
Just stopped in to say good night and peaceful dreams.

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie I did an still must be overlooking it. Anything about daughters interview?

Deb sorry Gabby crashed. Let us know more as it goes on please.

stronghunter said...

George does not bother the doggie unless the doggie bothers him, then he hisses. If too provoked, he shows his claws. So far, he has not drawn any blood, and he has to put up with Flash, Kathryn's basset, who bugs him more than this little doggie.

We do intervene!

George refuses to be inconvenienced by a mere doggie. He does not hide, just goes about his business.

Mema Jo said...

Gabby you will make it yet! We all have faith in you! So happy to hear you had a very fun day Deb!

I sure hope Margy gets someone to switch the 17th schedule with her. At least she would be at dinner when she gets off.

A Secret Door - Very mysterious sounding! And lots of fun too!

Meatball ate her chicken without even mentioning 'where's the meatballs' !! She made polka dot mashed potatoes with her peas! I ate the green beans - didn't even offer them to her --lol It was a fun evening - especially the ice cream dessert

Mema Jo said...

Very happy to hear Sissy is going to get a good night's rest and that Tom
is doing very well.

hedgie said...

Deb, Gabby didn't get hurt, did he? Hopefully just a bruised ego. Glad you had a good day.

BTW--daughter Carolyns' interview went well....she will know for sure tomorrow if she gets the job...if so, she will start Thursday! It's a 9-5 M-F job....a schedule she's never had before. Works out well...kids will be on schoolbus before she has to leave house. But no benefits...so she will have to keep looking for something better.

Mema Jo said...

Yep, Shirley, makes sense about the syllabus as you are essentially teaching two different courses in one. Bless George for being relatively tolerant. Apparently his attitude is mind over matter: He doesn't mind and the dogs don't matter very much.

Can't wait to find out the end of the "secret door" episode.

Jo, so happy to know there was no "meatball" crisis at dinner. However, there could be a story for Lolly's crew called "The Case of the Polka Dot Potatoes"

While Joseph was brushing his teeth, Jacob curled up on the bathroom rug. Tired boys! The three boys played so hard and had one of the best times ever. I have some pics! We all had fun. Will post tomorrow!

Good morning Norma! How's stuff in your corner of the woods?

normabyrd said...

You EAGLE BUDDIES were busy MOMSTERS & DADSTERS yesterday!!---Must check on 'CRAZY HORSE'--DEB!--That is 2nd on my list after MT RUSHMORE!!----Maybe we could all go there on our way to ALASKA!!--

normabyrd said...

SHIRLEY---I have it all figured out for you!---as my brother & friends used to say--NO SWEAT!--GEORGE is taking care of everyone & everything at your house!! ho!--feel you pain this am!--If it starts to hurt in the dental chair--JUST stick your fingernail in your arm real hard! --(it works)---

normabyrd said...

SHIRLEY!---When you meet MARGY---you won't be disappointed---'SHE IS A JEWEL'------

stronghunter said...

Good morning, Sissy and Norma. I'm hoping it won't be painful at the dentist's. They are really pretty good.

normabyrd said...

OH HEDGIE!---must put our heads together & figure something out---MARGIE doesn't want to work on the 17th!!!---(maybe i could fill in--as my kids will tell you--i LOVE to talk)!!!

stronghunter said...

There has been some hissing this morning already, but George is curious about the little bundle of energy.

Now he is watching all of the grackles that have taken over the feeder. I would like to turn him loose on them, but probably not a good ideal. They have chased most of the other birdies away. That makes me angry.

stronghunter said...

But, Norma, we want you to be with us, too!

normabyrd said...

The skies are turning dark this am---maybe we will finally get some rain!----You folks in panhandle area seem to be getting much more than we have!---maybe today--will be a day 'TO DANCE IN THE RAIN'---

stronghunter said...

Clouds here too, Norma.

stronghunter said...

Throwing a box of tissues at the window works for chasing away those annoying grackles.

deb said...

I have been putzing this morning and almost missed saying Good Morning. Just about time to leave for work.

deb said...

Sissy, sorry Tom had a bad night, hope today is better!

normabyrd said...

SHIRLEY---Just one hiss from 'KING GEORGE' & the 'PEPPY ONE' would scoot out of the room---fast!!

normabyrd said...

DEB!--MORNIN'---Hope you day goes fast----

deb said...

My day may not go, Norma, I don't feel well and am not getting any better. I think I am staying home today,

normabyrd said...

MITS--What kind of weather are you having at the beach?---Daughter in FL doesn't seem to be worried---but I worry for everyone!!---PRAY it misses you too!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

ALRIGHT!!!!! EVERYBODY, let's get it together. No more sickness, pain, sorrow!! I want to see some smiles out there this morning!!!!

Okay, if that didn't work, Deb, feel better. Take care of yourself and work will be there waiting when you get better!!!!

deb said...

Decision made, I called in and am going back to bed. I might just need extra sleep, but stomach is flip flopping right now.

stronghunter said...

Funny thing about pups. They don't get the message when cats hiss. This little fellow is afraid of a laundry basket, terrified of plastic bags, but thinks George might be a playmate.

deb said...

It isn't anything serious, SIssy! Just an upset stomach.

stronghunter said...

Hope you feel better soon, Deb. It is always a relief when you make that decision to stay home and go back to bed. Sleep well.

normabyrd said...

SISSY---I sent YOU & TOM a note praying you all will both get some REST---& sending many--many prayers your way for a restful day!!---REMEMBER!---don't worry be happy!---& pray the pain will go away soon!!!

(something has eaten a couple of my comments)

normabyrd said...

HEDGIE---your daughter is going in for a job interview!--WHOA!---happy news--prayers...

stronghunter said...

Sorry that Tom had a rough night, Sissy. Hope that today is much better.

Good morning NCTC Blog world. I have been retired one month. I have had my camera out quite a lot and still head over for coffee and dog treats every morning. Decided I need to get back into stopping by the blog in the am to wish each of you a great day as a new year begins. Yep it starts as school starts for me LOL. Not at all sure why but feels like somekind of routine and when you are retired you really don't need one of those very often.

Dex is fair...seems to have good and bad days. He has a chariot now ( doggie stroller ) and seems to love it when we go strolling. The exercise is good for me to :-).

Wishing everyone a good day and returned health for those who aren't quite up to par this am.

stronghunter said...

Hi Glo,

Must get ready to depart. BBL.

normabyrd said...

GOOD MORNIN' GLO!---We have MISSED you & DEX!---It took a while for me to get used to retirement---WONDERFUL!--but miss all the folks I worked with---really do!---have lunch OFTEN with them!---Must keep up! Wishing you & DEX would stop by more often----wishing you a happy day----

normabyrd said...

DEB!---I am not with the program---YES--Stay in bed at least a day--You need rest & liquids--If I owned a plane---I would fly up & be your nurse---(you would want to get rid of me so much---you would be well before i arrived)---TRYING TO BE FUNNY!---take care DEB--rest & chicken soup--

normabyrd said...

LOLLY---I bet you have a 'halo'--you certainly are an angel---wish I had had a mother-in-law like you!
STAY COOL-----

Judie said...

Good morning, everyone.

Deb, hope you feel better soon, maybe soon enough to enjoy most of the day.

Shirley, you go get a more beautiful smile and I'll go get a beautiful hair cut. How long is the little dog going to be there trying to make nice with George?

Sissy, I had completely forgotten the shoulder pain or I would have mentioned that. Should be gone soon.

Bai Yun was not sharing when I checked in a few minutes ago.

I find grackles do NOT like a redheaded woman storming through the back door flailing a dish towel. Only works until she goes back inside, though.

Okay, off for the haircut in a few minutes. Later.

Deb, hope you feel better FAST!
Hope Tom starts to get better, too.

Shirley--grackles & starlings ruined my summer---so bad, Fubby took down seed & suet! I missed seeing so many bird families. I might put suet up soon for a try since wrens are gone. :>(

Tom is feeling alot better now that he is up and moving around. He is still sore but not as bad as last night. God is just so good to us!

Can you imagine a Circ de Soleil show combined with an equestrien performance?? A new show by the C-D-C originator. "Cavalia" is the name of it. Looks very beautiful, peaceful and artisitic. Neat!! Biggest touring company in world. Setting up at Pentagon City.

wvgal_dana said...

Deb hope you start feeling better quickly.

Sissy so glad Tom is up. Moving around slowly will help that gas too.

Shirley I think George is just curious of the little fellow.

Lynn fingers crossed daughter gets that call.

Glo so happy I was here to see your comment.Sounds like Dex has a ride ( :

HEDGIE--They said yesterday--child left in middle of bed---How would the DOG get in the crib with the baby---don't know why anyone would have a PIT BULL!!----There were 2 dogs--but our paper stated that the mother was trying to choke the dog---but it would not let go----

normabyrd said...

DANA---I think the dog at KING GEORGE'S house is a 'JACK RUSSEL'--LISE has one & it has taken at least 2 yrs--before he settled down--they are active little doggies!! so--cute!

normabyrd said...

later....

wvgal_dana said...

When daughter was younger her friend has a Jack Russel. Mom couldn't go anywhere unless doggie went with her. Yes very active dogs. If she left him home. He would jump up at the window the whole time she was gone. They knew because they left one day with car.
Dad got out went behind a tree to watch. Glad he had a chair. lol Dog jumped at window for over an hour. Wanted his family.

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn did you see that information in the online newspaper?

wvgal_dana said...

Cam 2 at DC panda is getting treats. From the ball with stick on the end. Might be Tai I think.

magpie said...

I believe there is a New thread

hedgie said...
