I have been at the computer all day trying to finish course syllabi for Fall. A favorite task -NOT!
Andrea, study hard but take as many breaks as you can.
Lolly, sounds like you had a very nice day, afterall. I'm with Shirley, glad you're not in China because the old Bassett hound ghost would be barking at you.
Shirley, not to worry about my house being cleaner -- dust is my sidekick.
Wanda, I do apologize about not sending you sunshine. I just have to take time to order my dopler software. The penalty is hearing thunder above my head.
Once again, off to gaze into the frig for inspiration. Think I will need to go for groceries sometime tomorrow. Frig is getting short on inspiration.
As usual, Judie reviews everything carefully before commenting. Love your thoughtful entries, Judie.
The syllabus ghost is haunting me. I still wonder why nine pages of mostly single-spaced material is required by a community college for a freshman level course.
Ooohhh...It's after 5 so G&T time it is...now someone have one for me. Cause I don't like gin or tonic...hahahaha Here's my day so far....load van at 5:30 am- leave house at 7 am- head down lane, brake, wait...no brakes, can't stop- panic, finally stop...phew...back up lane slowly......unload van reload another van, go to mkt.... a very slow mkt. Back home, back to work-basement- snake- black, very long at least 7 ft... what, days not over yet??? oh goodie....
Megan, that's 3.....nothing else bad can happen!!! Did you "get" the snake, or is it still in basement??? Is it a root cellar type-basement? Creepy! Thank goodness you got stopped before you wrecked....God was with you!
Please add my friends' BF to our prayer list....Ken is going in for emergency quad bypass in a few hours in FL. Terry lost her hubby to a tragic tractor accident 8 yrs. ago; she is very worried, and far from family. Thanks.
Thanks for the mojito:) basement is my 'workroom'- I am still working there, snake is out- hubby took care of it for me. Better to find you have no brakes when you are still on your lane, than out on the road...but freaked me out just a tad... Back to work.
Closest thing I have to a drink in the house tonight is a little bit of margarita mix. Somehow that does not sound too inviting. Guess I will stick with my tea. Someone will have to drink a margarita for me.
Yikes, Megan!!! What a day! I volunteer! Will have two G&T's for you. I'll do this just for you! What a sacrifice!
I just want to tell you that Loweeda can do some rain dance! We just got another 3/4 inch of rain in 15 minutes. A powerful storm blazed through. We sat once again on the patio to watch, but this time had to move our chairs way back, the wind was really blowing! So, I just want to say thank you to God for heeding Loweeda's rain dance. ☺
If I had the makings for a margarita, I would gladly sacrifice and drink it for you. I did have one yesterday after my bad afternoon.
Megan, thank goodness you were in your lane! I want to see one of those snakes you all have, there sure seem to be a lot of them. We hardly ever see snakes here.
Well, okay, if this is the way it has to be, I will have the G&Ts AND the Marguerita AND a glass of wine AND a snort of brandy. All will be well with our world.
Megan, at least your husband got the snake. Alexandria, VA courthouse yesterday had to adjourn a trial/hearing because a snake got loose, was chased by deputies, BUT wiley snake that it is, eluded the cops and escaped through a vent. Hope it doesn't return -- tickets for trespassing and eluding. On a serious note: I am so very happy you did not have a serious accident.
Prayers for Ken.
Now to begin consuming all the liquid refreshment.
Judie, if you come back on making lots of typos, we'll know why!!! Deb, you saw my snake pics, right?? Just heard a call on scanner for Animal Control for a juvie red-tailed hawk in someone's driveway....they are afraid something is wrong with it. MARGY....what are the rehab options here???
Hedgie - don't know of any options, never had to be involved...hope that DNR has some tricks up their sleeves, this is not really an animal control call but better something than nothing... Where is it ??
Judie, kidding about all of those drinks, reminded me of the time that I was at the Moose in Berryville to pick up Dustin and I contacted you all on Karla's lap top. Said I had too much to drink and needed a ride home. Margy didn't know if I was kidding or not, but said that she would be happy to come and get me if I was serious;) I hadn't had anything to drink...the lounge wasn't even open yet:) BLESS HER HEART!
I have a half a bottle of Black Velvet that hasn't been opened in almost four years, and a bottle of Sherry that is not very good, but after a couple of cups of coffee I would travel over to Sharpsburg if needed.
Yes, Wanda It sure Is! And a little later on, New York and New England Asters, tall and stately, will come around. It is that time of the year....summer approaching fall. I got a nice picture of a monarch on the Ironweed, and if I can muster up some energy between tonight and tomorrow I will get some of these photos on. Also saw some nice YELLOW jewelweed....usually see just the orange, so this was nice.
☺ Another thing out in great numbers today: Motorcycles!
Gamber is a community located in Carroll County. I had not heard of it before but I don't go into Carroll Cnty very often. I am surprised we didn't have some rain today - Seems like it all has gone to TX! Way to go Loweeda!
Megan - I hope it was just out of brake fluid and not a major problem!
Speaking of eagles . . . last night, I heard the adult eagle calling. I had not heard that before and I had to go online to listen to an eagle call. We have heard so much from Hidey and nothing from the adults. I didn't know what they sounded like.
I do not know if it was Lib or Belle, but whichever one it was landed in the nest making that same sound.
Ironic that after all this time, I did not recognize an adult eagle call.
Cam Daily is rather pokey refreshing for me tonight... is it me? Or the program ? Just wondering. Think I will distract myself by reading backwards the comments on the other thread. See You in a Few !
Brake Problems. GRRRRRRR ! I once had a bolt fall out of the brakes, fortunatly only one block from the house so I could baby it home, but it was Palm Sunday and I had to miss Services and I was not happy !
Lolly - Margy and I will both agree whole-heartedly that it was NOT FUNNY when Wanda put us on about having too much to drink. We took her seriously and really felt like we had to go save her! Now today when she tells the story I can laugh! She really had us going!! lol
I cleaned bathroom cabinets and drawers Thursday. Then I started on my closet. Threw out a lots of clothes. I was major purging! LOL It helped! Today working in the yard was the best!
I have been trying to get a good capture of Queen Anne's Lace and Chicory together, one of my favorite combinations..but I have not been too successful yet Lynn.
Got the grandkid a little el cheapo digital camera today, Big Lots had something on sale. He is taking to photography, so this is a trial run !
Went to my favorite GoodWill store today: There was a remote control Tarantula there! Complete with glowing eyes, it had a National Geographic endorsement...I should have gotten it...NOT !! 6 bucks...
I DO APOLOGISE for my insensitive joking...I promise I will never put you all on the spot like that again. Thinking about it later, I realized that that kind of joking isn't funny! Now, I can't promise that I won't joke about something else! LOL
Shirley...that was an excellent lead: Margy, do you want to add this to your store of contacts??? West Virginia, Eastern region, Jefferson/Berkely Counties..... 304-267-3482
Diana Mullis, Rehab Coordinator for the Potomac Valley Audubon Society dianamullis@aol.com Comments: coordinate the placement of injured and orphaned wildlife with local rehabilitation facilities
Margy, I do love Queen Anne's Lace. I used it as fillers in the flower arrangements that I made for Denise's wedding. The other flowers were lavender (roses & dendrobium orchids). It was a perfect combination. Had to spray them first...they carry a lot of bugs.
I AM so lucky to have you, Margy and Jo in my life. I can't imagine my life without my Mom. I love her so much. And then there are all our SISTERS out there. I have alway wanted a sister and now I have all of you! (((HUGS))) to you all!
Dustin's doing OK. Hasn't been on the 'puter much today. We went into GeeGee's to take her for a ride over the mountain (Swangin' Bradge) to see her old stomping grounds, and she was sound asleep. We waited a while and she was sleeping so soundly that we just left and went for a drive on the country roads. Saw many beautiful wildflowers. Yes, Fall is nearing.
Yes, Jo and you told me that Jesus didn't have anything to do with it! LOL I, too, laugh about that. It was one of my BLONDE moments or was that a SENIOR moment?
Allensville Church of the Bretheren - park in the lot and look in the field behind for Ironweed! And Dry Run Rd on the down side from Cannon Hill Bridge - before you get to Kursey's Ford Rd - for Joe-Pye and Ironweed !
I can repeat all that if you need me to.
What is that plane noise on the Cam ?? or maybe not a plane
I really want to load my Massachusetts and other Wild Thing Photos, but I have so many I am afraid I am going to crash my computer....guess I better take the plunge soon.
And the most beautiful Wild Sweet William and/or Garden Phlox is out along the creek near Allensville Low Water Bridge, and also near the Cannon Hill Bridge....
Freezing up here, got to clean it up and shut down and try all over again. I have been running off at the mouth anyway so gonna give you all a Magpie break...
I would like to gather some seeds from the Sweet William...the tall ones. When I see them, they are never in an area that I can get to easily or there is no place to park. When Gene and I first moved down here, 45 years ago, I couldn't afford to buy flowers, so that is where our "bushwhacking" habit started. I had wildflowers stuck everywhere. Beautiful and free:)
Margy and Wanda...PLEASE....stop talking about summer ending!!! We still have 7 weeks of summer!!! I am NOT ready to think about cold and wind and woodstove....not sure I can survive another winter!
Left for a while. Uploaded nine pictures to Hawkwood Garden. Come on over! Remember if you double click it gets really large and you will fill like you have really been here. Join me on the patio for wine. Whoops! I told Megan I would drink G&T for her.
Yes, Shirley, this is the time of year I say...hee hee hee! Usually by this time I would be working hard in my room. I usually worked for two weeks before we had to be there. Takes that long to set up a kindergarten room and to get their names on everything! Laurel goes back in two weeks for her week of inservice. That will be the week we get the boys for Camp Hawkwood. Yea! Found red t-shirts for $2 each for us to decorate. Our camp shirts!
Our students start back 8/24 also, but teachers start back on 8/13. Last year teachers went back on 8/11. That was really early. People are under the impression that we get three months off in the summer . . . it really is not that long.
Lolly, just beautiful!! Sure would like to see it in person! Is your gate one of those that turns?? Can't remember---what is your winter climate like? Do you stay green??
Lynn, the gate swings open...splits in the middle. No, we do not stay green. We get our first frost usually in Nov., but can be late in December. Once in a while we get snow...none last year to speak of. Usually have at least one bad ice storm.
Well, I juss don thing I can do a boddle of sherree. Alweaddy have a head pain. Mush go to scleep soon.
Ah, Shirley just sobbered me up. Only 11 days? I feel your pain or our pain. Just yours begins sooner. My first class is 9/1.
Now I'm really sobbered up at the thought of Jo and the rest of you showing up to wheel me to bed - that would NOT be a pretty sight - do appreciate the thought.
Yes, I heard the "discussion" between Hidey and a parent last night. Typical teenager: I want to fly further away -- no, you're not old enough, yet -- just play with your twig.
Now I must say goodnight. Pleasant dreams for everyone.
I do not have to do as much as a kindergarten teacher to set up the room, but it still takes awhile.
I am just happy that I get a room again this year. I had to give up my room second semester last year and float. I had a desk in an office and taught in two classrooms during the other teacher's planning times.
I do not want to do that again. My dept chair went to bat for me and I have been promised a room. Because of not having a room, I do not have very much stuff at school, even though I have been there for 16 years.
They did all of this because they are establishing a new way of organizing the school. Each grade level has its own "house." When I changed from 11th grade to 12th grade, I had to move to the 12th grade house and all the rooms were taken. There were empty rooms in the building, but not in the 12th grade house.
This year they have decided that my 11th graders may come into the 12th grade house to see me. Dept chair was able to convince the principal that it did not make sense for me to have to pack up and move mid-year every year, especially when I have to plan for unique classes to begin with. Furthermore, I have some 11th graders all year, so I would have been running up and down stairs every day.
The yard is usually at its peak in late June. However, the cloudy weather and rain this week has really perked things up. I have been allowed to water this summer. Last summer it was not so green down front. We do not water as much around the front and the pecan trees than we do up around the house and in the back. I take donations for our water bill. LOL
Oh, Shirley! I can not imagine! I was in the same room for my last 14 years. Bad thing about that is you accumulate junk and never get rid of it. When I was cleaning up to get out of my room and started throwing away....I thought "Gee, it would have been better for teaching if I had done this long ago!" Oh, well!
Judie....school starting is a sobering thought. Sort of ruins the summer when you have to start thinking about going back!
I loved teaching, but oh, retirement is so nice. I am poor but rested! I have my life back!
Lolly, your yard is absolutely beautiful. I do not know that I could do that even if I retired. I find now that it is really hard to do gardening because I just am too tired in the spring when I would need to be getting things started. I will just enjoy yours!
Evening Everybody! Opened the nest----it's a jungle in there!Too bad the birds don't eat veggies! "course these might be bad..... Heard at Park that the other day(when I wasn't there), a rehabber lady who's come down before brought 4 juvie ospreys. Greg, one of our naturalists, took them in boat and placed each one in a separate nest. They all flew off!!!Shows they were in good shape. Our newest nest platform w/ probably the youngest chicks Had all 3 sitting pretty this AM. The 3rd chick decided to fly the other morning & fell in the water. Our people were out there & scooped him up & put him in a different nest that was close to them. He flew right back to his home nest. Just checked Finneys & no fog--put an "exercise" pic on blog.
LOL When we were in court Friday. I was thinking you know you are getting old when you know the mother of the judge and he went to high school a few years before your son. (Who is a lawyer and was sitting by my side.) Also, the assistant DA in the office down stairs is a good friends son and I baby sat and changed his diaper!! Lord have mercy! I am still YOUNG!!!
A couple of years ago, the principal said that we could not leave anything in the building except a couple of file cabinets because he did not know were we would be in the fall and he could not move stuff for us. I threw away almost everything or brought it home. I do not plan to take it back.
Hi Loweeda! Been thinking about you today! We got more rain tonight. We are well over two inches this week. Praise the Lord and thank Loweeda for her rain dance! LOL
Laurel, my daughter, teaches 6th grade reading. She will have her room ready in two days. She says she watched me too often get ready for school to teach kindergarten. The older the kids the less stuff you have to have.
The rest of the story is that after work I went for a little hike & when I walked down a boardwalk area that has cattails on the riverside & woods on the other, AN EAGLE flew out of tree above my head!!That's the 3rd time at that spot & another lady working there said the same thing has happened to her. Lesson learned----look up in that place!
Yeah, I think he would have had to back down on that. I mentioned it to Hunter's first grade teacher and she said that she would have to rent a storage unit because she did not have room at her house.
I have stuff in the garage and the basement. I lost track of some things that I would like to have, but mainly to give to other people, because I changed grade levels.
I left the windows slightly opened because I painted the bottom part. When I left, I was thinking that if anyone was able to push them up from the outside--they are too stuck with paint for me to close them--they would be in a booby trap with all the wood strips and buckets of paint in there.
Lolly : Is there sound on one of your pictures or am I losing my mind....computer just made a very ridiculous whiz bang zoink boing noise... Nice pictures though !
Hi NatureNut, nice PRP stories !
Oh guess what, NO chicks at Finland Water now !
I got Finland Water back, was two there - chicks - now just one.
I surely do not want to hurry autumn and winter along...I always feel melancholy for the students AND the teachers this time of year. Wish your summers could last forever!
Good Evening everyone! I just finished catching up on all the posts and have to admit I enjoyed the chuckles and banter. Judie, you have a marvelous sense of humor as do several others that I can't remember their names. I sometimes forget my own children's names - I'll call them one of their siblings. ;o) I could use a Margarita or glass of Guiness then it wouldn't matter who's name I called. ;o)
My baby is home, safe and sound! They had a good time, but she did get sick on their 3rd day and spent the whole day in bed except for when she was in the bathroom with the trashcan on her lap. Poor thing. SIL lost his new cell phone. But the weather was nice--hot and humid (like what else in Mexico in July!?), nice resort, good food. But I'm sure glad they're home. Momma can stop worrying so much now!
LOL, Diann!! That's okay....the more time you spend with us, the better you'll get to know us!!! Margy...the sounds on Lolly's blog are from her SuperMario game!! Upper right corner. You weren't hearing things!!
Only two chicks there, Hedgie...and it seems that it has...not sure how long it is away from the nest at any one time, just noticed tonight the nest was empty briefly....
Did I miss Celtic Thunder? I love that group. Just checked our local PBS and Doo Wop was on. Oh well, I'm watching the Finland (land) nest now. Looks like the sun is shining. Is this the one you call the Finney nest or is it the one over water? I get confused.
Right you are, Margy---two not three!! Well, that's a relief to know it is flying! Suz will be relieved. The Yorkie pups are at the house next door to it. Think they had put up the fence when last tenants lived in the shack.
Well, I think I am going head for the pillows...going to take my wildflowers books with me and try to ID some of what I saw today. Is it this or that? Ha Ha six or seven pages of goldenrod alone! right now there seems to be only one species out.
Good Night Everyone...I agree totally with Wanda - it is so nice to have such a nice family of sisters on here....and a few brothers too!
Oh, by the way, I only get one of the three public television channels on right now, it is WETA on my channel 26 - it's mostly men singing tonight PA NANA I have the converter box but have not hooked it up yet to get the other channels.
Diann, Finney is the land nest, and Finland is water!!! I am going to say goodnight, too. Hope everyone has a peaceful rest and a good day tomorrow. Prayers for all in need, and thanksgiving for all the good things in life.
I can remember my Grandparents chickens having leg bands on, in different colors...have no idea what they were for. Lynn, I would hope that the Fins know what they are doing with those precious birds. Glad you precious bird is home safely!
Everyone is asleep but me...if you can't beat 'em...join 'em. GOOD NIGHT SLEEP TIGHT PRAYERS FOR ALL
Sounds like most are about ready for the sandman, so I'll say good night and peace to all. I may stay around for a while until that sandman gets to me. I'm a night owl. ;o) Blessings diann
Even if everyone has hit the hay, Hope you have Pleasant Feather Dreams! Lolly, I didn't dance yesterday, but maybe it carries over for a few days. Last (Fri) evening we had buckets of rain. Fubby usually takes down the table umbrella on the deck.I went outside afterward & noticed umbrella was gone. Then I looked up & it was on the roof!!!!!He didn't think it was windy! LOL
I was ready to konk out, but found a forum for Finney nest.Scrolled thru it to get 7-15, the "ringing", banding date. There was a link posted to Finland newspaper showing pic of man on ladder at nest and stating the news of the injured baby boy. "There will be no rehab or euthanasia". And they had a Comment section (the paper), so I gave them a piece of my mind!Even if rehab is not feasible, it could be an educational bird & be fed, not left there to the fate of last year's chick! Why didn't they just keep it's ring?Probably won't be included at this late date. Thank you for listening. My next quest will be to find out identity of wildlife people in charge of these nests.
I'm back up still, Loretta... I'm with you...If they are going to have the involvement to ring the chicks, then personally I feel they can take the responsibility to "interfere with nature" and spare the bird a pretty certain poor outlook for the future.
Seems like Family Day in Finland, just saw the parent a little while ago with both chicks at the Water, and Mom is with two of the kids at the Land nest, guess one of the younsters is out carousing around.
Diann, Finney nest is the man-made land nest, named after "Finney", the 1st osprey we saw fledged there...."Finland" water nest is the nest I found online several years ago, named it that, so as, not to get confused with Finney nest...this nest, Finland water nest, has sea eagles that take over during the months when the osprey are in Africa.
I hope you all remember Hugo the stork, there was no intervention there, no matter how many outraged letters they received from all over the world.....if this is the decision that has been made, they will likely stick to it, if there was no cam to watch it, we would not know that his was going on...
Yep, nasty storm passing over us... winds 20- 25 mph, thunder, lightning, heavy downpours...making it difficult to get the van loaded...what a weekend.
Today Showers and thunderstorms likely. Highs around 80. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent. » ZIP Code Detail Tonight Mostly cloudy in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the mid 60s. South winds around 5 mph in the evening...becoming light and variable. Chance of rain 30 percent. Monday Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. Southwest winds around 5 mph. » ZIP Code Detail amen;)
Ok, very nasty storm past us, looks like more showers behind it, though. Van loaded and I'm off to see the wizard. Have a good day everybody:) Hate to use my good van in the rain, but Mkt. van is out of commission, brake line has developed a leak somewhere, hence yesterday's morning braking issue. I need a vacation form life.... Hello Mits:) bye!
Cam watchers have asked if Braveheart will still hang around the nest. We'll continue to see her, as she uses the nest as a home base and learns to become a proficient angler, which could take several weeks.

Thanks, Steve. Thanks, Judie.
Brought this over:
Glad you didn't dig to China, Lolly. We want you to stay around here.
We had a basset hound that used to dig and dig and then bark into the holes. We always said she was barking at the dogs in China.

Judie must still be typing . . .
Thanks Steve and Judi
Headed out to Mass & dinner
I'll be checking back when I get home
Either Judie has a lot to say or she has gone away.
Hi everyone,

Ha! Because it is our only hope of keeping the wannabe adults under control.
Been thinking, since last night, about shrimp with angel hair pasta and garlic sauce but I don't have any shrimp.
Maybe a taco salad?
Maybe a G&T?
Judie
Shirley,
How could you tell I was either typing or gone away? Are you a secret psychic?
Judie
Well, Judie, you appeared on the old thread to tell us that there was a new thread, then you weren't on the new thread.
I came over here looking for you and you weren't here . . .
Thank you. A little scary for a moment -- thought you might be related to Miss Cleo.
Really going to the frig now.
Hugs
thanks you Steve and Judie:)
Ooohhh...It's after 5 so G&T time it is...now someone have one for me. Cause I don't like gin or tonic...hahahaha
Here's my day so far....load van at 5:30 am- leave house at 7 am- head down lane, brake, wait...no brakes, can't stop- panic, finally stop...phew...back up lane slowly......unload van reload another van, go to mkt.... a very slow mkt. Thank goodness you got stopped before you wrecked....God was with you!
Is there something you like better than G&T? Maybe you need some of that!
glad you are ok Megan, that story shook me up, having a mojito for you:)
Good looking birds, Deb! Jo will love the owls.
Lolly, I hear GHO's often, but in almost 17 yrs. have only found 1 feather. So you are LUCKY!
Wow, Ijamsville damage is scary. Yes, Jo, too close to you. But TG no injuries. There was also a tornado confirmed in Gamber, MD---?Carroll Co.??
Found out a little while ago that my girls' flight is delayed....not due in til 7:50 now...that will make it close to 10 before she gets home.
Gambrills, MD....Anne Arundel County?
off to fix dinner bbl.
Please add my friends' BF to our prayer list....Ken is going in for emergency quad bypass in a few hours in FL. Terry lost her hubby to a tragic tractor accident 8 yrs. ago; she is very worried, and far from family. Thanks.
Thanks for the mojito:)
basement is my 'workroom'- I am still working there, snake is out- hubby took care of it for me.
Better to find you have no brakes when you are still on your lane, than out on the road...but freaked me out just a tad...
Back to work.
Nope, Mits, news said and had written on screen Gamber.....and I think I heard them say Carroll Co.
It's near Finksburg, Mt. Airy and Westminster from what I found on search.
Hurray, Russ!! if I were you, Megan, I think I WOULD be having a drink this evening. I'm sure you were a bit scared! Can Russ fix the brakes?
Oops, I meant to say Ken is having surgery in a few DAYS, not hours....had Christie's flight delay on my mind!
Closest thing I have to a drink in the house tonight is a little bit of margarita mix. Somehow that does not sound too inviting. Guess I will stick with my tea. Someone will have to drink a margarita for me.
Prayers for Ken, Lynn.
Oh, my! Sorry, can not take care of G&T's plus a Margarita. I would do the Margarita for you, Shirley, but I told Megan I would drink for her. LOL
Don't want you to overdo it, Lolly. I am sure someone else can volunteer!
Judie
Judie, nobody said anything about wine and brandy. Don't blame me when you wake up with a hangover!
Rehab options: GnT followed bye brandee.
Hopping tha hawke will be okaye.
hiccup
yes, Lynn, I saw your pictures. Too bad Janie isn't out in your area, she could come for the Red-tail.
LOL, Judie!!
Yep, Deb, I had the same thought. When does she return home?
Maybe you can find a phone number here:
Wildlife Rehab
We have a vet here who sometimes takes wild animals or refers you to someone who can help. Anybody like that in your area?
Hedgie - don't know of any options, never had to be involved...hope that DNR has some tricks up their sleeves, this is not really an animal control call but better something than nothing...
Where is it ??
Hello Everyone ! ☺
But my memory is trying to remember something about someone in this area....might take a little while, brain and whole self is tired.
Now, how do we rehab Judie?
Judie, kidding about all of those drinks, reminded me of the time that I was at the Moose in Berryville to pick up Dustin and I contacted you all on Karla's lap top. Said I had too much to drink and needed a ride home. Margy didn't know if I was kidding or not, but said that she would be happy to come and get me if I was serious;) I hadn't had anything to drink...the lounge wasn't even open yet:) BLESS HER HEART!
I thought I hear a one-peep chortle about four minutes ago...anyone else?
Let me tell you, Joe-Pye Weed is out, and is it ever beautiful!
and New York Ironweed, two beautiful patches of it along the back roads....
It's a good thing we don't drink every time we say we are going to, or we would ALL be in REHAB:)
I have a half a bottle of Black Velvet that hasn't been opened in almost four years, and a bottle of Sherry that is not very good, but after a couple of cups of coffee I would travel over to Sharpsburg if needed.
Oh, yes, Margy. I saw some today driving down the road that goes past Rosedale Cemetery. Ironweed, that is. Such a beautiful, vivid purple.
And one completely unopened bottle of wine that probably IS pretty good. ☺
Wren and crows at our nest...now how about some Eagles like last night please ?????
wren and crow SOUNDS that is, not the actual birds in the nest
Speaking of eagles . . . last night, I heard the adult eagle calling. I had not heard that before and I had to go online to listen to an eagle call. We have heard so much from Hidey and nothing from the adults. I didn't know what they sounded like.
I do not know if it was Lib or Belle, but whichever one it was landed in the nest making that same sound.
Ironic that after all this time, I did not recognize an adult eagle call.
Adult was having words with Hidey, who lit in the nest at the same time. I do not know if anyone else saw the adult.
Lots and Lots of boats to be seen out on Lake WA but no eaglets at the nest.
One of the Barn owls is back in the nest box.... Both were gone most of yesterday and evening.
Think maybe Judie and someone else was watching . . .
Oh I do see that Braveheart took off today, but looks like he is back now for a bit...
Oh, dear, Judi has not been on for a while....am concerned! She did not have to do the G&T's I said I would do that!
LOL Wanda, that is so funny about you getting on saying you had had too much to drink. Bless Margy!
We just had hamburgers on the patio and then walked around the yard. It is still dripping! So wonderful to be wet!
Lynn, we often find owl feathers. they are very pretty!
Took some pictures of the yard today. Need to get busy and load them onto the blog.
REHAB♫♪♫♫♪♪
SPIDERS and SNAKES♫♪♫♪♫
Lolly - Margy and I will both agree whole-heartedly that it was NOT FUNNY when Wanda put us on about having too much to drink. We took her seriously and really felt like we had to go save her!
Now today when she tells the story I can laugh! She really had us going!!
lol
All we need to do with Judie is put her in the wheel chair and push her up to bed! lol
I hear someone at the mic!!!!!!!
Love the new avatar, Megan ! and that song cracks me up !
Get ready - something is clunking the microphone..
Yes We were digging for cell phone numbers !! ☺
Lolly
The cleanest my kitchen floor ever gets is when I upset about something, and down on my hands and knees I go ! Boy does it sparkle after that !
xoxoxo
Margy, didn't hear where the hawk was.
Queen Anne's Lace is also out!!!
Hedgie - that is a great theme song for you
I don't like Spiders or Snakes!
I cleaned bathroom cabinets and drawers Thursday. Then I started on my closet. Threw out a lots of clothes. I was major purging! LOL It helped! Today working in the yard was the best!
Just to repeat, BWO 's Braveheart took flight today ☺ Lisa has posted some nice pictures.
Oh Come On Bird! Before the Night Light comes on and Lynn stops watching !!!
Megan, loved the songs. We can all make a video together and sing Rehab! LOL
Jo, I imagine it was not funny since you believed her. Funny now!
Whoops! Something is by the mike. I hear it. Maybe a black snake!
Shirley - that is a very good site for Wildlife Rehab info. I bookmarked it just in case I ever need it. I knew we had one in Thurmont.
LOL
BTW - First on BeakSpeak for Yesterday and the last Seven Days:
FWS NCTC ☺
Shirley...that was an excellent lead: Margy, do you want to add this to your store of contacts???

Right here in our neighborhood!!!!
Great! We have always been able to find people around here who will take birds. I did not know what you might have in your area, so I Googled.
Not to worry Wanda...☺
Can't wait to see what you joke about next !
Bird just flew away I believe, heard that beautiful flapping of the wings...
Night light is on! MT nest but noise in the tree!
Great News about Braveheart
Congratulations LISA for the successful
Osprey season
Margy, I do love Queen Anne's Lace. I used it as fillers in the flower arrangements that I made for Denise's wedding. The other flowers were lavender (roses & dendrobium orchids). It was a perfect combination. Had to spray them first...they carry a lot of bugs.
Perfect, Lynn and Shirley!
I will present that to the Boss and see if we can get it added...
Dear Wanda!
You are kinda lucky: You have GeeGee and that night you had Mema Jo and Magpie to Mother you ! ♥
Oh, maybe back now....
Wanda I also love the fancy name for the Wild Carrot !
I think that we should name MEGAN as our official disc-jockey. She can pull a song out to fit the occasion quicker than you can say "Jack Robinson"!
Wow, no spider webs at all at our nest tonight...that's nice !
At least none yet...
Yep, Wanda - that, and our Garden Angel as I think Mits dubbed her the other day...correct me if I have the wrong namer...
And also Full Moon Namer and Meteor Alerter ☺
Hey, How is Dustin doing? did you have to pry him away from the computer?
I used to have one of those animated frogs that played that song!!! But the sun coming in the sunroom made his rubbery skin dry and crack!
That song and Jeremiah was a Bullfrog have almost been favs of mine!
I AM so lucky to have you, Margy and Jo in my life. I can't imagine my life without my Mom. I love her so much. And then there are all our SISTERS out there. I have alway wanted a sister and now I have all of you! (((HUGS))) to you all!
Refresh Refresh Refresh ARRRRGH !
I do enjoy your joking Wanda
Even when you lose your car and it isn't a Joke! I still ROFLMBO every time I think of that incident!
"Thank you Jesus"
I forgot to tell you, Lynn...that frog I sent you the other day is named Jeremiah!;)
Maybe it is late night sanctioned mowing ☺
And the most beautiful Wild Sweet William and/or Garden Phlox is out along the creek near Allensville Low Water Bridge, and also near the Cannon Hill Bridge....
don't get me started...
Wow, check out the fog at Finney Land Nest...
and Finland Water is dark for me :(
That is quite a sight at Finney. I copied it.
Freezing up here, got to clean it up and shut down and try all over again.
I have been running off at the mouth anyway so gonna give you all a Magpie break...
TTFN xox
I would like to gather some seeds from the Sweet William...the tall ones. When I see them, they are never in an area that I can get to easily or there is no place to park.
When Gene and I first moved down here, 45 years ago, I couldn't afford to buy flowers, so that is where our "bushwhacking" habit started. I had wildflowers stuck everywhere. Beautiful and free:)
I'm turning this 'puter over to Dustin for a while, before her gets mad at me..BBL
Margy and Wanda...PLEASE....stop talking about summer ending!!! We still have 7 weeks of summer!!! I am NOT ready to think about cold and wind and woodstove....not sure I can survive another winter!
I am not ready for summer to end, but I only have 11 days left until I have to go back to school.
Whoa! Shirley the time really flies by
Kids here start 8/24
Yea! Found red
t-shirts for $2 each for us to decorate.
Judie
LOL
You know that you are getting near retirement when the principal is the same age as your oldest child.
LOL
Have they gotten any in Austin?
Well, you just could not do that to kindergarten teachers. We have so much stuff.
It was interesting watching Hidey foraging around in the greenery yesterday.
I keep hearing little sounds by the microphone.
Did actually have to replace some things though, lost track of some movies I had bought.
Yes, Loweeda! Look up at that spot! That is so cool!!
Yes, I have been hearing sounds near the nest. Someone or something is spending the night.
Loretta, do you think there might be a nest near there?
Well, I am doing my duty! Jack just brought me a G&T. Yum!
I did get back into the living room this evening and repaired some of Hunter's painting mistakes.
The floor people come on Tuesday. Then I want to go buy a new sofa.
I left the windows slightly opened because I painted the bottom part. When I left, I was thinking that if anyone was able to push them up from the outside--they are too stuck with paint for me to close them--they would be in a booby trap with all the wood strips and buckets of paint in there.
The nest really does look funny with that plant in it.
Sounds good!
Okay, my tush is getting numb. Need to get up and move a little.
Nite all!
Sweet dreams!
Shirley, there is a nest at Loretta's park---it had three hatches this year. We got to see them when we went there on our spring field trip!!
Lolly :
Is there sound on one of your pictures or am I losing my mind....computer just made a very ridiculous whiz bang zoink boing noise...
Nice pictures though !
Hi NatureNut,
nice PRP stories !
Oh guess what, NO chicks at Finland Water now !
I got Finland Water back, was two there - chicks - now just one.
I surely do not want to hurry autumn and winter along...I always feel melancholy for the students AND the teachers this time of year.
Wish your summers could last forever!
Oh neat, one of the Finland Chicks was just hovered over the nest in mid air but I was too slow to get a screen grab.
Good Evening everyone! I just finished catching up on all the posts and have to admit I enjoyed the chuckles and banter. Judie, you have a marvelous sense of humor as do several others that I can't remember their names. I sometimes forget my own children's names - I'll call them one of their siblings. ;o) I could use a Margarita or glass of Guiness then it wouldn't matter who's name I called. ;o)
Nice show on PBS - Celtic Thunder
My baby is home, safe and sound! They had a good time, but she did get sick on their 3rd day and spent the whole day in bed except for when she was in the bathroom with the trashcan on her lap. Poor thing. SIL lost his new cell phone. But the weather was nice--hot and humid (like what else in Mexico in July!?), nice resort, good food. But I'm sure glad they're home. Momma can stop worrying so much now!
Finney Nest is Stunning !
Lolly has some kind of game on her blog site that starts making noises when you scan through it.
Look over to the right. Does add an odd touch to the viewing of her lovely pictures.
I am ready to crash now. See you later.
Hi PA NANA
Haven't much had a chance to make your acquaintance, but I have enjoyed reading your comments and like your avatar !
OH thanks Shirley! It was very goofy sounding !
Hallelejah Hawaii, Lynn !
Glad your little nestling is back in her nest ! xoxo
LOL, Diann!! That's okay....the more time you spend with us, the better you'll get to know us!!!
Margy...the sounds on Lolly's blog are from her SuperMario game!! Upper right corner. You weren't hearing things!!
The Finland Chicks and Finland lone chick are preening....
Margy, did you see the charred skeleton of the house on 9??? Looks much better now!
Whoooooops Typo:
Hallelujah
Did FInland water 3rd chick really fledge??? WOW!!!!
Sure did Lynn..yeah, it's kind of attractive now! And there is a sign for Yorkie Puppies right near the driveway !
Only two chicks there, Hedgie...and it seems that it has...not sure how long it is away from the nest at any one time, just noticed tonight the nest was empty briefly....
Did post a couple of pictues of the Finney Nest in fog on my blog. I really have to quit now and go to bed. See you tomorrow.
If you click twice on the pictues, they get bigger.
Did I miss Celtic Thunder? I love that group. Just checked our local PBS and Doo Wop was on. Oh well, I'm watching the Finland (land) nest now. Looks like the sun is shining. Is this the one you call the Finney nest or is it the one over water? I get confused.
Happy that your baby is home, Lynn.
Right you are, Margy---two not three!! Well, that's a relief to know it is flying! Suz will be relieved.
The Yorkie pups are at the house next door to it. Think they had put up the fence when last tenants lived in the shack.
Huge flea market fire in Austin, TX....240 vendors...bet Lolly has been there!
Well, I think I am going head for the pillows...going to take my wildflowers books with me and try to ID some of what I saw today. Is it this or that? Ha Ha six or seven pages of goldenrod alone! right now there seems to be only one species out.
Good Night Everyone...I agree totally with Wanda - it is so nice to have such a nice family of sisters on here....and a few brothers too!
xox God Bless Us, Every One
Surely is a lovely morning at Finney!
Water nest juvie looks lonely.....
Parent back to keep him company!
Hi, Diann...I just say, Finny land and Finny water, makes it easier, I think.
Oh, by the way, I only get one of the three public television channels on right now, it is WETA on my channel 26 - it's mostly men singing tonight PA NANA
I have the converter box but have not hooked it up yet to get the other channels.
Crummy about the fire, Lynn...
Sleep Sweetly, all...oxo ♥
I hurried to get back in to say Good Night before everyone left....
So Good Night All
Prayers for all needs being said
((hugs)) ♥
Parent WAS just in the nest with chick at Finland Water. Ooops, forgot I already said Good Night.
I still can't help but wonder how those leg bands---rings as they call them over there---don't become a problem as the birds grow.....
Good night, Jo.
Finney's Land has a full house !
GOOD NIGHT
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL
P.S. Just saw Finland chick depart!!!! She's doing GOOD!
Sounds like most are about ready for the sandman, so I'll say good night and peace to all. I may stay around for a while until that sandman gets to me. I'm a night owl. ;o)
Blessings
diann
I really was alseep, for about five minutes. Have some major sleep disordering going on here at THIS nest.
But I'm going to read myself to sleep, Good Night Again...xo ♥
Good Night---found a Finland Birdlife group espousing "conservation"! Will write them tomorrow.
Good Sunday morning everyone...
finally finished reading last nights' posts
Diann, Finney nest is the man-made land nest, named after "Finney", the 1st osprey we saw fledged there...."Finland" water nest is the nest I found online several years ago, named it that, so as, not to get confused with Finney nest...this nest, Finland water nest, has sea eagles that take over during the months when the osprey are in Africa.
I hope you all remember Hugo the stork, there was no intervention there, no matter how many outraged letters they received from all over the world.....if this is the decision that has been made, they will likely stick to it, if there was no cam to watch it, we would not know that his was going on...
thunderstorm going by the nest now, no Hidey
heavy rain at nest now.
lots of wind too.
all 3 chicks at Finney nest, MT nest at Finland
Yep, nasty storm passing over us... winds 20- 25 mph, thunder, lightning, heavy downpours...making it difficult to get the van loaded...what a weekend.
storm right over Megan now.
I have been thinking about you this a.m., Megan, looks like it will pass by soon.

amen;)
all quiet at nest now.
Braveheart has been flying in and out of nest this a.m.
Ok, very nasty storm past us, looks like more showers behind it, though. Van loaded and I'm off to see the wizard. Have a good day everybody:)
Hate to use my good van in the rain, but Mkt. van is out of commission, brake line has developed a leak somewhere, hence yesterday's morning braking issue. I need a vacation form life....
Hello Mits:) bye!
osprey back at Finland nest
BWO update....
Cam watchers have asked if Braveheart will still hang around the nest. We'll continue to see her, as she uses the nest as a home base and learns to become a proficient angler, which could take several weeks.
both osprey chicks at Finland nest
