WHOA! DEB!---Those meds must be stronger than GATORADE!!! ho!---you are slurring your words again!----(the devil made me say it)---ho! ----So glad you are feeling much better----HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!!
yes Paula, the FINNEY NEST demo video is great...for 34 dollars you can buy it for the rest of the season , till mid September when they fledge to Africa
also on the FINLAND NEST now, you don't have to click for the enlarged pic, it is already done for you...sent Suzanne several pics, she will be glad...to see the FINLAND nest back
SORRY DEB!---I didn't know you had to work today---I wouldn't have been teasing you!!---ho!---You are so cool!!---I should advise you if your tummy is still acting up---eat soda crackers----sending good thoughts----MOMMA NORMA----
No, I won't do that, it sounded horrible when I read it! Time to hit the road. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! I hope it clears up here for the fireworks tonight.
Suzanne would remember the details, about the banding, I think I recall when they banded Finney.....since this is the 1st year we have seen chicks at FINLAND NEST,,don't know what they would do, was always hoping the sea eagles would roost there
Judie, about the younger generation and cell phones, etc. It is amazing at the end of the school day to watch the kids walking to their buses. Most of them have out their electronic devices making up for not being able to use them during the day. (Not that they aren't sneaking to use them during the school day anyway.)
Yes it is, that would have been one way before we started watching the FINNEY NEST....sometimes on there site you can read the English version of things if you have the time to poke around it....also can use google translation
cam just cam back on at Finland nest it was down on May 23rd due to a storm...don't know if they have banded them yet...but nice that they have 2 cams from that site now
I don't think they have ever banded the FINLAND OSPREYS!!---since I have been on the blog---I watched it all the time with SUZANNE----That was our favorite!!-----I don't mean to repeat myself---if I do IGNORE me!---ho!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... HAPPY 4TH AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO SISSY AND TOM (hope they are both on the mend...Sissy's sore from her fall and Tom has Lymes disease;( )
Blogging is a good thing! But sitting here for an hour waiting to hear Lynn's horn blow at the nest is a DEFINATE DISORDER...one that we are all aware that we have and don't even care that we do;);)
WANDA---I have wished you & the CAPT a HAPPY 4TH----3 times--& something eats it!!---I think TOM is doing fine--but I suggested SISSY see doc yesterday---& she said she was going to Mon!---
WANDA---No! they are going to spend a mo with DAD---works at FORT DETRICK---LIVES in that area---MD!---Will get to visit with them after they go to beach with DAD!!----LOVE THEM MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF!!
Happy Independence Day to all, and Happy Anniversary to Sissy and Tom!! (Megan, need a link to the Flintstones' Happy anniversary song here!!) Deb, so glad you are feeling better! At least you'll get off work in time to enjoy a 4th evening. Mits, what a full day you have planned! Enjoy! I remember something having been said about when they would be able to repair Finland water cam---seems like they had said something about banding then....???? At any rate, I am SO GLAD that it is up and running. I was pulling for the sea eagles there, too, but will settle for the osprey!
Really good to know that our addiction is not harmful...except maybe to our butts and our carpals!! Thanks, Judie, for your thanks to all the firefighters(my SIL's) and nurses(me). Thanks to all teachers and professors, too!! Knowledge is the biggest and best weapon there is!
thought I remembered that too, Lynn, but the translation gets lost sometime.....I remember when I found this nest and sent it to Suzanne, we were never sure what was going to show up, had to do alot of searching to find out what was going to show up there, even thopugh I knew it was supposed to be an osprey cam,, caught it at the end of the season right before the osprey left for Africa.
WHOA!!---GRANNYBLT---You are trying to entice me again with the 'aroma' of baked bread!---ho! ---Too bad you don't live in WV--you could come to my house -- I have one still here & one moved on to another tree---& can't see it for the leaves!---HAVE A GOOD BIRD WATCHING DAY!!---
Lynn, I have to laugh everytime I think about a bunch of grown women sitting her waiting to hear you blow your horn, and then, when you did, we carried on like we just heard Santa Clause on the roof!;) We have many addictions that are harmless and I love everyone of them!! Glad to see our new friends are becoming addicted too:)
Wanted to stop in and wish everyone a delightful July 4th.
I've been elbow deep in paint for the past week and enjoying it. Weird, I know, but I like to paint. Anyways, I haven't stopped in to see how "the family" is doing. All of you and the eagles too! :)
How are Hidey, Belle and Liberty doing?
By the way, I noticed something about a week ago. Shedherdstown isn't too far from where some of my family lives in what use to be called Paris Virginia. Anyone ever hear of that? Beautiful area. Some of my happiest memories come from when I was a young girl visiting them during the summers.
Morning Norma Ed is doing well except his feet are swelling more. Only thing he can do is keep them up. Going to try later going over to nephew's house. A lot of firefighters and people will be there. Playing maybe volleyball like last year. We enjoyed watching them. Don't know if Ed will be able to stay for the fireworks. Take it hour by hour.
We can't get to his Dr. until July 9th to discuss the findings of biopsy. Which was nothing. Which has the dr. confused because of PET Scan. We'll be asking to send him to an onologist.
Anyways Norma are you going to see fireworks tongiht?
Tammy, you are right...Paris isn't too far away...it's in part of what we always called horse country---not too far from Middleburg, which is where there are still lots of fox-hunts and steeplechases! RICH people live there, LOL!
What an amazing array of hilarious comments on here since I was last on. Ceil was up in the middle of the night because of some rabble-rousing in her neighborhood!
Judie was afraid that Boris was an unfriendly blogger!
We have comforted ourselves about our addictions....
and everyone sounds like they are having some fun, at least being on here ! Now, to wait on Lolly
Sorry that Deb and Loretta have to work! Woof, Double Woof !
Wanda, people probably think we are crazy.....but I bet most folks don't have the network of wonderful friends that we all have developed here due to our "addiction'!!!
Enjoyed your comments about the grandchildren....hope you can relax your "Granny Fears" about thier travels, and so glad to hear you are going to see them soon ! xoxo
Thank you for responding. The way I knew it was close is I saw Berryville. We use to be able to see Berryville from my Aunt and Uncles diningroom picture window. They owned a mountain and their house sat right on top. If I recall, Berryville was about 15 miles from where they lived. Rich? I don't know about that. My uncle worked in DC and was big in one of the Labor Unions. My Aunt was an artist and had a small studio on the mountain. My uncle passed away decades ago but my Aunt is still on the mountain in a newer home she had built and my cousin and his family live in the main house.
It was absolutely beautiful there. We lived in Ohio and I always knew we were getting close when we drove through Winchester and I saw a BIG apple and a castle. :)
Tried it Dana that, and Mits's link from the other day, just won't open! I wonder if there are some upgrades to my computer I need to do...it was always one of the easiest sites to open and watch !
HEDGIE & TAMMY---STEVE lives in MIDDLEBURG!----I have gone to the FOX HUNT there for the past few years!---Daughter's college friend lives on the MELLON Estate--AWESOME!---she is Mrs. MELLON'S nurse! --- Paris is near there---
Margy I haven't had to update anything. I hadn't watched it for such a long time. Brought it up just find this am when I hear it was working. I did just delete all my temporary files though.
Berryville is a beautiful little town in a wonderful area. There is a restaurant there called the Battle Town Inn...had the best smothered chicken in the world ! And rum-raisin rolls. Haven't been there in years, but surely want to again someday !
You are getting close to where I live---40 miles or so!!--We shop in Winchester-Drs, etc--daughter taught at Berryville---grand-kids went to school there too!!--VERY GOOD SCHOOLS!!
Margy sent you the link thru the mail, maybe that will work, but doubt it if you could not get it from Dana's tiny url..also sent you some pics from both cams regular and close up
Thanks Norma - I am "on-call" but they are pretty well staffed so as long as I can get there reasonably quickly if they call I should be okay.
Thank you for the beautiful card! There is a shop at the Caperton Train Station, with all kinds of books, RR, Civil War, and West Virginia things! I bought a few and have been beefing up on my West Virginia Facts! Think of you often when I am doing that!
Thanks Helen - I will give it a try, and enjoy for sure what you have sent !
Best wishes to all, for this day, and every day. xox TTFN xox ☺ ♥
Trying to figure out why my eyes feel so worse since I went to eye Dr. He put drops in my eyes 1st ones stung 2nd ones ease the sting. I know he said and has set date to cataract surgery. Although my eyes didn't hurt like this before. Oh well just another trail to travel.
My Aunt and Uncle had a telescope in the diningroom that you could look through and I would sit for hours watching what was going on in Berryville (mainly the street light in the middle of town changing colors). *lol*
Hedgie.. The castle. Boy, I don't know. I thought the castle (built on the side of a mountain) was in Winchester. It could be Berkeley Springs I guess but I don't remember that name. It's been 42 years since I went there. I was nine. I always thought the big apple and the castle were in the same town. In my minds eye, I can still see both. It would be interesting to see pictures of them today to see how accurate my minds eye is. *lol*
Here's another tid bit of information about the mountain my Aunt and Uncle were on. There was a small cottage toward the base of the mountain that was used by Joan Fontaine. She was an actress of American films from the 1930's. We use to go on all-day hikes around the mountain and we were always warned never to go close to the cottage that Miss Fontaine didn't like "strange children". *lol* I didn't know we were "strange". That cottage reminded me of the little house in the forest in the Wizard of Oz.
Thanks MARGIE!!---If you get any WV facts wrong---(I am here to correct you)--ho!---kiddin'---I noticed when I moved here in the late 50s---folks knew more about VA than WV----
Tammy....don't think there's a castle in Winchester! Think I know exactly where your aunts' mountain is!!! Not too far from the road to the Methodist church Camp (called High-something!)...am I right?
Tammy, have a pic of the castle to send you, but don't see an email link on your profile page. Click on mine and email me your address and I'll email you the pic!!
TAMMY -- I hope you get a chance to go to Winchester again some time!!----A few years ago---they put up all kinds of very large APPLES with different decoration on them---In re:--The HOSPITAL APPLE---has a heart monitor attached to the apple to hear one's heart!
Good late morning - beautiful weather out there for picnics and firework displays later. Hope any rain and/or winds stay away. If this blog is what addiction is - More Power To It! WHoo HOo! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't keep up with all of you! You are one interesting group!
Norma, gotta tell you..my BFF, who was educated in mostly military-base schools in England and California, and graduated from American University honestly did not know that WV was a seperate state from VA until I moved here! Of course, as I pointed out before, VA schools heavily taught that WV was an illegal state!! Can you imagine the way the VA rebel soldiers felt coming home from war to a Union state???
I don't know. I have directions (somewhere) to get there but I don't know what may be in the area now. Their mailing address now is Boyce, VA instead of Paris. Same place, just changed the name.
There was a motel not to far from where they lived that my aunt and Uncle knew the owners. We use to go there to go swimming in the pool. That was over 40 years ago though.
You are probably right about the castle. If we followed the route you mentioned, then we probably went through Berkely Springs. We use to travel there by taking the turnpike through Pennsylvania from Ohio. I just knew that once we made it to Winchester we were alomst there and it was time for me to get car sick. *lol* I always got car sick right before we got there and car sick right before we got home. Use to drive my Dad nuts. Didn't matter how far we were traveling. I'd get car sick right before we reached our destination. It could be a trip from Ohio to Virginia or an hour ride from where we lived in Ohio to my Grandma's house in Ohio.
Oh Norma.. I want to go there again. I'd love for my husband to enjoy the scenery along the drive, see that mountain and the house on it. My Aunt had a fireplace put into the kitchen that I could walk right in to it was so big.
TAMMY---Mountains are still there--but lots of changes---Now there are houses everywhere---Folks from the city are moving in----where in Ohio do you live?
I was born in Bowling Green, Ohio. Up by Toledo. I spent most of my adult life in Port Clinton Ohio. On Lake Erie between Toledo and Cleveland. Close to Cedar Point and the Lake Erie Islands. I live in Buffalo, NY now (other end of Lake Erie). Been here for 3 years. My husband is from here. We came here from Ohio to help with his Mom when she was ill, and stayed.
We lived in the Columbus area from 1967 until 1980. My family lived in North Carolina, so we drove through West Virginia when we went to visit my folks.
Not sure if I-70 was there back then, but turnpike to it OR US Rt. 40 would still take the same path I mentioned before. The castle would be on your right on the side of the mountain. Still there!! I'll send you the homepage so you can learn the history!
I remember that tower, the windows and the hill being right behind it. That is such a neat structure.
Do you know the history behind it? I never knew anything about it.
stronghunter, My youngest daughter attended college in Columbus at OSU. My older daughter lived there after graduating college working for a engineering company. She is in Charleston, WV now working.
I want to thank you Hedgie and Norma for sparking memories. Those were glorious days in my youth visiting Virginia. Special, special place.
We lived in Columbus and New Albany. I taught in Pickerington for three years before my children were born. All four of my children were born in Columbus.
Tammy, I am also heavily into genealogy....haven't spent much time on it lately...I had gotten badly burned out on it...it was then that I found our eagle cam and all of these great folks. We (cousin and I) had hit some brick walls....and she is an archaeologist and researcher and is still trying to verify a lot of things before we put them in our database. The biggest block to her is whether we are or not descended from the great Rob Roy---she's even involved her bro in DNA testing!!! But with records what they are--or aren't!!--think we have probably gotten back as far as we can!
HEDGIE---WV an illegal state!!---ho!----I thought I had heard them all!!---So interesting yesterday----I watched a bio of LINCOLN on the history channel---very good!---
Lynn, so your ancestors were Sottish. So were some of mine. I did some geneology study a few years ago. Very time-consuming, but very interesting as well.
Fantastic article, Paula. Who knew??? Well-kept secret for sure. I did my psych rotation at St. E's....of course, that was LONG before they set up housekeeping nearby! Thanks!
And, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Sissy & Tom! Hope it's a spectacular day for you!
Good morning/afternoon to all of you. Had an opportunity to get here, and took it! Judie, so glad to know that this blog and the eagle cam are not recognized as being harmful addictions, because I am DEFINITELY hooked!
It's a really nice day in SoCal-- sun is shining, and it's supposed to get to 83 here in Anaheim. Just about perfect! Looks kinda windy at the nest. Hope it settles down before long.
Lynn, no, I'm not trying for tickets to the Michael Jackson funeral. Actually, I'm trying to stay as far away from there as possible-- far, FAR away! No disrespect intended, but boy, is that ever going to be a circus! Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not really fond of large crowds, anyway.
Hello, Andrea. I understand your desire to stay away from the MJ thing.
Hedgie, I have Irish roots, too. I have been able to get pretty complete information on both my mother's and father's side. I do not remember how far back it goes at this point, though.
Speaking of eagles that tolerate human presence, I have always wondered about the Delta nest. It seems to be near a busy road. I have often heard all kinds of traffic noise.
Lynn, I know you were only kidding, but I'm not! Although I realize there's probably some historic significance musically to MJ's funeral, I have no desire to go there. Might be different if he had been President, but no thanks. Actually, Farrah Fawcett, who at one time probably had the most popular pinup poster in America, was badly ignored by the media when she passed-- only mentioned briefly, really, in comparison. It's kind of strange. I just resent a bunch of newscasters trying so hard to influence everybody. (Boy, don't get me started on that one!) Okay, I'll shut up now. Guess I'm just a non-conformist! LOL :o]
Say, sounds like our Hidey is nearby! Is lunch soon to be served in the nestaurant?
Shirley, on the Scotch and Germna portions we are back into the 1500's! Not so lucky (yet) on the English and Irish. Scottish records appear to be much more preserved, mostly thanks to parish church records!! But a lot lost due to wars and fires that can never be recovered. Good cemetery records there, too.
Happy Fourt of July to Everyone in Eagleland & Beyond!**** Finally getting on here, but can't open Live Cam--BOO.They installed new (better???) 'puters over a week ago & now nothing hardly works! Even got a memo from powers that be that a daily sales report we do every PM might take an hour to print!!!! That's Progress!!??
Andrea, I feel that Farrah was badly ignored by having to share the day w/ MJ. Don't get me started, either!!! Never cared for him after "Ben"....never saw Thriller, or had any desire to! As for the media....almost embarrassed to say that I used to be a journalist. I now view the majority of the media as near-treasonists in many respects, and not much more than gossip-mongers in others. Two other celebrity deaths this week w/ very little mention---and both great performers: Karl Malden and Harve Presnell. Why not magnify THEIR talents??
Hi, everyone. I am home, it was so slow at work they drew names out of a box to see if you wanted to leave. I was going stir crazy and said yes! Now if the sun would just put in an appearnance!
Andrea, I was lucky enough to have had elderly aunts who had started making charts. From there, it was on to the internet.....Ancestry.com, Rootsweb.com, census records, ship logs, etc. Anne Marie is also heavily involved...think she is also doing it for other people.
Yeah, right on, Lynn! Boy, are we ever on the same page! You know what, Ed McMahon was barely mentioned, too. I worked for a newspaper for over 11 years too, so I know how the newsroom works. Most of us have no idea how manipulated we are by the news media. Woof!
I have notebooks I got from each side of the family. I did some research on the Internet, but haven't done much for quite awhile.
The most interesting part I have found so far is on the Scottish side--the Hunter clan has a castle there and a website. They have lots of information on the history of the family.
During the school year, I do not have time nor energy to do this kind of research--just a little dabbling in the summer.
Way to go, Deb!!!! Congrats! Loretta...sorry you are still stuck at work! BUT.....there are sure worse places to work, gal! Norma would love your job, too! Think I'd set that printer to start and then leave and let it do its' thing after hours!!!
Must caution you about some of the sites...like Ancestry.com---the information there is put in my anybody...and often info is NOT accurate!! So never take it for gospel! Always verify! I use a database from the LDS site (Mormon Church---which probably has the most extensive records in this country) called Personal Ancestry File, which you download for free from them, and then you build in your info. Takes a little working with it to understand it all---and, of course, back up to disc frequently so that you've got it in case of a computer crash!! You can submit your info to LDS for inclusion, BUT you have to get permission from any one still living before you can include them! Pain in the neck! So I haven't sumbitted it. I just pass it on to the interested relatives.
The notebooks I have were completed before the Internet sites came about, done the old fashioned way. Some of it is written by hand. A family member on my mother's side put together the notebook I have for her family.
When he was working on it, I got a phone call from a woman in my neighborhood, someone I had met but didn't know well; she turned out to be a distant cousin. The family member putting together the info had noticed we had the same zip code. Something like that makes you want to keep working on the research.
Ahh genealogy ... my favorite subject. Hedgie, I too have been burned out by it. Did hubby's side first - Irish - and once I was ready to cross the "pond" the info dried up due to the English and fires. I subscribe to many genealogy mail lists that I can read and stay up to date on any new items. My side was a bit different and went in so many new lines I ran out of patience and paper. ;o) Happy 4th to everyone. We're getting ready for a visit from daughter and grandson. Must baby proof house; if I can remember how.
Yeah, it does, Shirley. It's truly amazing what you learn!! For instance, my mat. gm's ancestor was a Hessian soldier conscripted by the Kaiser to assist the colonists during the Revolution. After he deserted, he was indentured to a farmer near Winchester where he eventually started his family before heading west and settling in Ind. and subsequent generation in Iowa, where my moms' family was from. (My g'parents moved to DC in '18) Anyway, we had a neighbor around here whose home was built by Hessians---it is on the historical register....and I like to think that maybe some of them knew my ancestor and soldiered w/ him!
My Scottish connection claims connections to Robert Bruce and is said to have arrived in Scotland in the 1100's, having originated from Normandy, France.
Happy Fourth!!! Just got on here, been into Elkins City Park to look at all the cars.they had areal good turnout this year, even with the threat of rain.Has Hidey be4en seen atall today?I can hear some bumping at the cam.Paula, that was a very good article about the vDC Eagles,Let them build their security bldg somewhere else!!!
Phew! I'm back again after a quick shower. Have to run now-- we're going over to SIL & BIL's house. The dog-sitting is going fine so far. They're all being really good for us. (Gotta say, though, that little Jake is my favorite!) Will try to get their computer going later and see if I can get to the blog from there. Thanks, Lynn, for the genealogy info. Would love to get busy with it, but am afraid it's pretty time consuming-- may have to wait till a long school break! Thanks again, though. Will try to talk to you later tonight. TTFN :o]
Helicopters used. Relatively short trip via air. We first started going there in '73. At time when kids would always manage to get sick at inopportune times, would always get Rx's from doc to have on hand in case (antibiotics and such) as there wasn't even a clinic on the island then.
Just had a chance to come back. Read Paula's story on DC eagles!!!!How neat--hope they get to stay--they were here first! Sad about the SC fireworks explosion---we just don't really think about that happening. Gotta see if it takes an hour to print report LOL! ☺ Happy & Safe Fourth to Everyone!***
My eldest was 9 mos. old in '73 when we made our first trip---tenting that time. By the time youngest came along in '75 we had a truck-bed camper. Finally graduated up to a 27' Prowler. Never stayed in a hotel until '91!! As kids were growing, usually stayed at Hatteras so they would have activities, but always went to the island during the day for beach-time!
Last two times I went to the Outer Banks, we had hurricanes churning out in the Atlantic and ferry was shut down, so didn't get over...so disappointing. One more trip on my bucket list! Have lived with the threat of the island disappearing for so-o-o long.....and it continues to survive and thrive!

Good morning. Thanks, Steve.
Good morning, HAPPY FORUTH OF JULY!
Glad to know you are feeling better, Deb.
Happy 4th of July!
Norma and I missed the call over....I let her know!
Finney water nest looks great...2 nice chicks in the nest...
GOOD MORNING STEVE!---Thanks for the new '4th of JULY' thread!!---CELEBRATE!!!---Thanks MITS--for calling us over!!!
Glad you are feeling better Deb. Are you off today?

Wow it even has sound
WHOA! DEB!---Those meds must be stronger than GATORADE!!! ho!---you are slurring your words again!----(the devil made me say it)---ho! ----So glad you are feeling much better----HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!!
OMG those chicks at Finney land are so huge now...haven't checked them in weeks...
Parent at Finland water raising hell...well, all OK now.
Thanks for the call over Mits. Are you going to the mall for fireworks tonight?
Just watched it, Paula. Very nice.
The OSPREY PARENTS are still missing at the FINLAND OSPREY nest!
The CHICKS are sleeping again!!
No, I have to work today, 9-6. At least it is cloudy and rainy, makes going in a little easier.
Yes Paula, going to the Nats game, find a place to eat after game, then to the mall for the fireworks, and using Metro all day..
What was the water nest parent doing? Not sure how you could tell if she is raising hell with the refresh working the way it does.
Parent back at land nest. Gave me one of "those looks."
Sounds like a great day, Mits. Have fun!
Shirley...parent had wings spread out and was calling thru several refreshes...
Little ones visible at land nest. Think there's feeding. Both parents were there for a moment.
yes Paula, the FINNEY NEST demo video is great...for 34 dollars you can buy it for the rest of the season , till mid September when they fledge to Africa
Paula, do you get sound on the water nest?
Awww they are all lined up.
Nope, no sound on the water nest.
Mits - so they are doing a video of the whole season? Or I guess, selected sections of the season.
also on the FINLAND NEST now, you don't have to click for the enlarged pic, it is already done for you...sent Suzanne several pics, she will be glad...to see the FINLAND nest back
SORRY DEB!---I didn't know you had to work today---I wouldn't have been teasing you!!---ho!---You are so cool!!---I should advise you if your tummy is still acting up---eat soda crackers----sending good thoughts----MOMMA NORMA----
no Paula, you can get live video for the rest of the season at FINNEY'S
Norma, no problem. My stomach feels normal, just leery of what I put in it yet.
what ever it is don't do what Jim suggested, baking soda and water, your BP wil go wild like Lynn said last night..
OK, got it now Mits...that's pretty neat...
Yup, just read it all in English...thanks.
I was going to get it, but I'm thinking it might only be if you live in Finland, did not see any places for credit cards....
HEY KIDS!----Did you folks remember----TODAY is---
HAPPY---ANNIVERSARY SISSY & TOM!!
CONGRATS!!!
No, I won't do that, it sounded horrible when I read it! Time to hit the road. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! I hope it clears up here for the fireworks tonight.
Good morning, again! Thank you, Steve.
About the addiction, I was mostly joking but thought about how the younger generation is so "addicted" to email, texting, cell phones, Ipods, etc.
Blogging by eagle watchers is not a recognized disorder.
Cheers,
Judie
I always do toast and hot tea.
Have a great day, Deb...
They have the price listed in dollars. I would think that that's for us, wouldn't you?
Mits...maybe you could email them and ask.
Thanks for the clarification, Judie. Glad to know I'm Just a 'holic!!
I'm comforted, Judie.
yes, but, they don't make it easy to send...Shirley
already tried that Paula...
I think I'll stick with the freebie view anyway.
I wonder when/if they will band the chicks at Finney's?
Two of the little ones at the land nest were looking right at us.
Oh, OK Mits.
I think I noticed that the adult is banded.
Birds in the backyard are so happy I finally got the feeders filled again!
Suzanne would remember the details, about the banding, I think I recall when they banded Finney.....since this is the 1st year we have seen chicks at FINLAND NEST,,don't know what they would do, was always hoping the sea eagles would roost there
Yes it is...
They have banded there in the past as I recall.
Mits - I think they fixed the camera when they banded at the Finland nest.
BBL--Must go shower.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
HAPPY 4TH AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO SISSY AND TOM (hope they are both on the mend...Sissy's sore from her fall and Tom has Lymes disease;( )
My grand-kids are flying from TAMPA --- WASH-REAGAN today--- I always get tense when they fly alone!--a GRANNY thing!!!---
Blogging is a good thing! But sitting here for an hour waiting to hear Lynn's horn blow at the nest is a DEFINATE DISORDER...one that we are all aware that we have and don't even care that we do;);)
They have 2 cams?
Are they coming to your house, Norma?
Eating time at BWO
the one that is banded at FINNEY'S NEST....translation...
12.4.2009 Merikotka which was ringed Iissä 2007 (V750)
they have long Finnish names...
WANDA---I have wished you & the CAPT a HAPPY 4TH----3 times--& something eats it!!---I think TOM is doing fine--but I suggested SISSY see doc yesterday---& she said she was going to Mon!---

Happy Independence Day to all, and Happy Anniversary to Sissy and Tom!! (Megan, need a link to the Flintstones' Happy anniversary song here!!)
Deb, so glad you are feeling better!
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY to all of you all.
Judie--happy to know that this isn't classified as an addiction.
Paula, my backyard buddies are happy too. I kept staring at the empty feeders yesterday wondering why there was no action. A senior moment, I guess.
My birding friend and I are going out today or tomorrow to try to find some red-headed woodpeckers for our 2009 list.(I baked bread yesterday)
No sign of Hidey for me today.
Everyone please stay safe.
Lynne
Happy 4th to ALL in Eagleland and Watchers.
Happy Anniversary to Tom and Sissy.
Thanks I just brought up Finland on the water.
Deb so glad you are starting to feel better.
WHOA!!---GRANNYBLT---You are trying to entice me again with the 'aroma' of baked bread!---ho! ---Too bad you don't live in WV--you could come to my house -- I have one still here & one moved on to another tree---& can't see it for the leaves!---HAVE A GOOD BIRD WATCHING DAY!!---
Oh I so like the close up cam on the bottom for Finland.
MORNIN' DANA!---How is ED?---Pray you both are feeling so GOOD that you all are planning to set off lots of firecrackers tonight!! ho!
Lynn, I have to laugh everytime I think about a bunch of grown women sitting her waiting to hear you blow your horn, and then, when you did, we carried on like we just heard Santa Clause on the roof!;)
We have many addictions that are harmless and I love everyone of them!!
Glad to see our new friends are becoming addicted too:)
Greetings All..
Norma, so glad that you will get to see g'kids soon!!!
Good Morning Eagle Pals and Happy Birthday America !
MEMA JO!---The BURROWING OWLS are out----earlier I saw two---either fighting or making WHOPEE!---ho!---I hope it was the latter!!!
Sure hopes grannyblt finds those red-headed woodpeckers. I have seen them only a few times and they are spectcular!
the "Crown" of the Statue of Liberty re-opens today to the public, for the first time since Sept 11, 2001...
Good Eagle Morning Mits, Hedgie-Lynn, Norma, Deb, Wanda, Paula, Judie, Grannyblt, Margy and Steve and Watchers.
Wanda, people probably think we are crazy.....but I bet most folks don't have the network of wonderful friends that we all have developed here due to our "addiction'!!!
I have tried and tried to get Finland Water nest to open....keep getting message the webpage has expired....any suggestions anyone??
Norma, I have met your Florida Granchildren and they are precious. Grandchildren are so wonderful!:)
So good to see so many friends on here today! Some like Paula and Mits and grannyblt, Loretta and Deb have already headed out.
Hope the day is one of respite and enjoyment for you and Ed, Dana -
Good Morning, Dana...wishing nothing but the best for you and Ed today and everyday:)
Norma
You are the ever-present Breath of Fresh Air !
Enjoyed your comments about the grandchildren....hope you can relax your "Granny Fears" about thier travels, and so glad to hear you are going to see them soon ! xoxo
FINLAND ON THE WATER
Hi Hedgie..
Ah... the memories..
Margy try the blue link above
Due to my Eagle Cam and Blog addiction, I have a serious non-addiction: I don't do much housework!
Sorry Tammy Good Eagle Morning to you too.
Margy did that work?
Tried it Dana that, and Mits's link from the other day, just won't open! I wonder if there are some upgrades to my computer I need to do...it was always one of the easiest sites to open and watch !
Dana.. I've been reading comments over time and I would like to wish you and Ed a very special July 4th
Count me as just one more voice who will be sending prayers for you, Ed and your family.
*hugs*
They are truly appreciated Tammy thank you. ( :
Nice memories you have shared, Tammy
I'll keep trying, Dana -
very curious, I am constantly doing the internet options -
Sigh. I seem to be the only one not able to view it....
Well, I have to shake a leg and get a few things done, heading out to Morgan County for a little while I think.
Happy Anniversary, Tom and Sissy ...and many many more ! ☺ ♥
You are getting close to where I live---40 miles or so!!--We shop in Winchester-Drs, etc--daughter taught at Berryville---grand-kids went to school there too!!--VERY GOOD SCHOOLS!!
Margy are you stopping in at Brian's?
I don't think so Dana
I have a co-worker who lives two doors away from Brian and Jenna....
but I am glad they are planning something festive. Do you know when Jenna is going to return to work ?
MORNIN' MARGIE!---Aren't you the LUCKY one---no 911 today!---ENJOY your 'JAMES' DAY!----no swimming in GEORGE'S TUB today!--ho!
Tammy, if you saw a castle, were you maybe going through Berkeley Springs??? Most direct route off of I-70 to Winchester would be 522 through B.S.!!

cruise ship going by at FINLAND NEST
Margy sent you the link thru the mail, maybe that will work, but doubt it if you could not get it from Dana's tiny url..also sent you some pics from both cams regular and close up
Dana, hope you have a good time at your outing.
No I haven't heard when she will return.
Lynn I was wondering about that..when I seen castle. I thought about the Berkeley Springs castle.
Tammy the mountains are so beautiful around here. Sounds like you enjoyed the different views.
Happy 4th Jim
HEDGIE---Which LYNN is WANDA waiting to hear 'honk' her horn???
#2?
Can't believe how fast those ships move...missed it! Boo!
Magpie.. About Berryville..
Thanks MARGIE!!---If you get any WV facts wrong---(I am here to correct you)--ho!---kiddin'---I noticed when I moved here in the late 50s---folks knew more about VA than WV----
No, Norma, it was ME that everyone listened for on the Thurs. before last when I took mom and sis to see nest! ANd they heard me honk!
Sigh - at least I can watch Finney's!
Hello to Jim now, and all before, now, and after !
Time to give my numb butt a break...
Hey - for all your Virginia people:
(and any bluegrass fans)
Have you ever listened to the band "No Speed Limit?" Good Stuff !
xoxo ☺ ♥
Hi, Jim! How is sunny California? Did you see the question i asked Andrea yesterday? Did YOU rush online to get a ticket to the MJ memorial??? LOL!!!
GOOD MORNING--- MARINE VETERAN JIM!!!---We salute you!---thanks!
Tammy....don't think there's a castle in Winchester! Think I know exactly where your aunts' mountain is!!! Not too far from the road to the Methodist church Camp (called High-something!)...am I right?
Everyone have a great 4th...just read where Lolly was having problems. Prayers they get home SAFELY and for the 4th.
Eyes are tired out of here.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Tammy, have a pic of the castle to send you, but don't see an email link on your profile page. Click on mine and email me your address and I'll email you the pic!!
TAMMY -- I hope you get a chance to go to Winchester again some time!!----A few years ago---they put up all kinds of very large APPLES with different decoration on them---In re:--The HOSPITAL APPLE---has a heart monitor attached to the apple to hear one's heart!
Good late morning - beautiful weather out there for picnics and firework displays later. Hope any rain and/or winds stay away.
If this blog is what addiction is -
More Power To It! WHoo HOo! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't keep up with all of you! You are one interesting group!
Happy Anniversary Sissy & Tom
Hope you are celebrating up at the lake!
Have a wonderful celebration of our Independence today! Peace
DANA---Some of my friends have had cataracts removed---& now they don't need to wear glasses!!
Hedgie,
I don't know.
So, is that castle still there? :)
Oh Norma.. I want to go there again. I'd love for my husband to enjoy the scenery along the drive, see that mountain and the house on it. My Aunt had a fireplace put into the kitchen that I could walk right in to it was so big.
Hedgie..
I made a mistake. The motel didn't have a pool. It was a pond. I remember it now because it had a big wooden raft built on barrels in the middle.
Hey Tammy, where did you live in Ohio?
TAMMY---Mountains are still there--but lots of changes---Now there are houses everywhere---Folks from the city are moving in----where in Ohio do you live?
Stronghunter,
I was born in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Tammy, you've got mail!!!
Suggest you delete your comment here that shows your address....leaves it open for spammers!!!!
Better yet....here it is:
Castle
http://www.berkeleysprings.com/legends.htm
Hedgie,
That's it!
Didn't mean to publish the address the way I did, was going to try to make a link, but now I don't need to!
Thanks Hedgie.
Thank you hedgie and stronghunter..
You both read my mind. :)
We lived in Columbus and New Albany. I taught in Pickerington for three years before my children were born. All four of my children were born in Columbus.
Well, thank you all for this wonderful trip through memory lane but I have to get back to my paint brushes now.
:)
You all have a wonderful 4th.
**hugs**
Tammy, I am also heavily into genealogy....haven't spent much time on it lately...I had gotten badly burned out on it...it was then that I found our eagle cam and all of these great folks. We (cousin and I) had hit some brick walls....and she is an archaeologist and researcher and is still trying to verify a lot of things before we put them in our database. The biggest block to her is whether we are or not descended from the great Rob Roy---she's even involved her bro in DNA testing!!! But with records what they are--or aren't!!--think we have probably gotten back as far as we can!
HEDGIE---WV an illegal state!!---ho!----I thought I had heard them all!!---So interesting yesterday----I watched a bio of LINCOLN on the history channel---very good!---
Tammy, very cool that memories can get stirred by the simplest little thought!! Glad to have helped refresh yours!
Lynn, so your ancestors were Sottish. So were some of mine. I did some geneology study a few years ago. Very time-consuming, but very interesting as well.
Norma.....FYI!!!!
WV Statehood
I didn't know there were any eagles nesting in DC...and there may not be for much longer
Washington DC Bald Eagles
Shirley, Scotch on my maternal grandfathers' side. Maternal g'mothers' people were German and English. My dad descended from English and Irish.
Eldest son stopped by and we talked for a good while...now gotta go shower and head to the store...catch ya'll later...
Fantastic article, Paula. Who knew??? Well-kept secret for sure. I did my psych rotation at St. E's....of course, that was LONG before they set up housekeeping nearby! Thanks!
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, Everyone!
Andrea, you realize that it was a tongue-in-cheek question, right??? LOL!!! What a mess! Hope your dog-sitting is going well. Enjoy the 4th!
Paula, thanks for the info on the Washington, D.C. bald eagles. Very interesting!
Well, gotta go water my patio plants-- they're going to get thirsty today. BBL if at all possible. Have a great day, everyone! :o]
Yes, Paula. Very interesting article on eagles in DC.
Speaking of eagles that tolerate human presence, I have always wondered about the Delta nest. It seems to be near a busy road. I have often heard all kinds of traffic noise.
Happy anniversary to Sissy and Tom from me as well!
I just heard Hidey.
Will go get my notebooks so I can put in some dates.
Lynn, I would love to get into genealogy-- it's fascinating! Don't really know where to start, though. Where did you begin?
Happy Fourt of July to Everyone in Eagleland & Beyond!****
Finally getting on here, but can't open Live Cam--BOO.They installed new (better???) 'puters over a week ago & now nothing hardly works!
My notebooks go back to the 1700's.
Thanks for the advice, Lynn. I do not have much knowledge about this stuff . . . but have heard that the Mormon Church has good records.
My side was a bit different and went in so many new lines I ran out of patience and paper. ;o)
Happy 4th to everyone.
TTFN :o]
Must stop to do some housework.
Have enjoyed chatting and exchanging stories, Lynn.
Gotta load that dishwasher!
Ocracoke Island--fireworks explosion. Really sad. Always enjoyed my visits there.
OMG... Ocracoke is my very most favorite place!! Gotta try to find the info.
Ocracoke explosion
Thanks for heads-up, Shirley. Sad...prayers for all involved.
It is such a remote place. Not easy to get people out of there to a hospital.
Happy & Safe Fourth to Everyone!***
