All of those islands are fun. You know you are on a small island when you can see water out the front door and water out the back door.

Didn't know I was at the split.

Found the frig for Mom's, it's being delivered on Monday. Tonight I am headed out a little later to the new place that my son works at tending bar. Tomorrow I'll head up to his house for a cookout and some fun with Cohen and Brensin!

Thanks for the information, Paula.

Okay now - the fun seems to be beginning for our afternoon crowd.

Deb - so glad you got to bail early ! Hope there is some fun in store for you tonight also....fun might just be relaxing and being done with work ! ☺

Glad to say I saw Wild Sweet Pea along the roadway, and Jewelweed is out, also called touch-me-not. I think I got some good pictures and will post them sometime Sunday.

Also while out yesterday I must have been near a nest of Carolina Wrens, because I was just about buzzed by about five of them....or at least, they seemed to be sounding the People Alert at me !

Had a little fun with the grandson, some water balloon fun to cool us off. Now to get dried off and re-dressed, and out for some chow!

Andrea - Chrissy is enjoying talking "British Isles" things with you....☺

Hello and Good Evening to all, and once again,
Happy Birthday America

And Norma - I found one of my favorite Veterans to shake hands and say Thank You to, and will see the Captain later and do the same.

God Bless ALL Our Military folks, and Veterans, and their families!

Prayers for the victims and the emergency providers in Okracoke. Such a tragic event for so many...

xoxo ☺ ♥

It has not been a good week to be a "celeb" of some sort or another, has it? A lot of talent gone in a short time, along with some great people.

deb said...

Hidey finally makes an appearance!

paula eagleholic said...

Margy, I look at the slo mo cams at TH and WE...5 second updates that don't freeze up your computer.

paula eagleholic said...

Daggone, missed Hidey!

Hidey is still near! Can hear peeping for dinner!

Did ya'll hear Lady Liberty's crown is now open?

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey calling persistently

paula eagleholic said...

Had to go take the neighbors dog home...he broke his chain and they aren't home....I tied it back together.

I hate people who get dogs and leave them tied up outside all the time and don't pay any attention to them.

Going to see my son....BBL

stronghunter said...

Bye, Paula. I agree, I hate to see people mistreat a dog that way.

Have a nice visit with your son.

stronghunter said...

Hidey is still calling.

stronghunter said...

Pretty fireworks in New York this evening.

I just came in from outdoors. We were sitting out there and watching fireworks. I had a little doggie in my lap who was a bit nervous--my son's friend brought his dog along. He is my buddy now!

Good evening and Happy 4th!!!!

We arrived home around 3:30 this afternoon. We actually did not get away from Raton until 4:30 yesterday. We drove until 1:30 AM, stopping for dinner and for Jack to change a tire. Yes, more problems!!! We are home and I could write a book about this trip! Colorado was fun, but the trip home was _______!!!!!!

Anyway, I am exhausted! Will be back on later!

Again, happy 4th. Hope each and everyone of you have had a great day with family!

God bless!

stronghunter said...

Good to hear from you Lolly! What a trip!

ceil said...

Hope everyone had a great 4th. Just watched the fireworks from the Inner Harbor. They were great. Lolly sounds like our trip to Oregon in December but would do it over again.
Good night and God Bless America and all my eagle buddies.
Happy 4th to Red.

hedgie said...

Home and settled after a perfectly delightful evening of great company, yummy food and lovely fireworks! Nice way to spend the holiday.
What a shame about Steve McNair---wonder what kind of scandal will come out of this one?
Lolly, so glad that you made it home safe and sound....bet you are exhausted!
We wondered about you earlier. Did Laurel and the boys head on home, or they with you for the night?

magpie said...

Yep, got what I wished for, well two things.

1) Lolly made it home ☺
2) Deb got to see Hidey ☺

Wonderful evening, ditto what Hedgie said. Got home, HAD to water my flowers...they were sagging badly, should look good in the morning.

Thanks Wanda, Gene, and GeeGee - and Lynn!

Checking a few sites, Good Night for Now for those heading for the pillows....

hedgie said...

Looks like the rain may miss us tomorrow...staying mostly south of here. Really wouldn't mind a day of rain so that I can mow without being in a dust cloud!
Re: Statue of Liberty crown reopening....by reservation...booked up til Labor Day!!!! Plan your trip WELL in advance!!

Costume Lady said...

What a nice evening we had. The weather was perfect, food was good and the company was great! Fireworks were extra nice this year:) GeeGee enjoyed herself so much that she stayed awaked until we all went home at 11o'clock. Her usual bedtime is 7-8PM. She should sleep well tonight.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

Tammy said...

Good Sunday Morning to All.

Can hear Hidey chirping softly nearby. Sure hope she decides to make an appearance.

So there are some genealogy enthusiasts here! I've been researching my family for decades. I too get a little burned out at times. When I do, I set it aside for a month or two and then get the urge and start searching again. I really don't have any real noteable ancestors to speak of. At least names that any of you would recognize. Just Eli Ransom Olds (inventor of the Oldsmobile) and probably more notorious than noteable, Mercy (Lewes) Lewis, one of the young girls who accused innocent villagers of witchcraft in Salem Mass and she was responsible for several people being hung. AS for this being a "small world", my husband and I are kissing cousins! Well, probably 500 or more times removed. :) My 8th Great Grandfather's brother married his 8th Great Grandfathers sister in 1672 in Swansey, Massachusetts. Both of our families came to the New World within two decades of each other arriving at Plymouth. 330 years later, our families cross pathes again.. it must have been fate!

I love doing research whether it be for my family or others. Do any of you here have access to Heritage Quest?

Most importantly... I still hear Hidey!!

Tammy said...

Ms Bookworm..

I had to laugh when I read you are interested in genealogy research and you were concerned about it being time consuming. It is! But... it's like reading a good book that you can't put down. Once you make that first connection that you knew nothing about, you are hooked and want to learn more... and more.. and more. For me, everytime I found a long lost grandparent and information about their families it was like Christmas! You'll find good things and bad things. One time I found first cousins that married each other. I thought I was going to hyperventilate (lol) until I realized (had it explained to me) how common this was because of how confined and isolated people lived their lives centuries ago. Also, my 4th GreatGrandfather pimped out his daughters as prostitutes in the mid 1800's. The information is listed right on the Federal Censuses! So.. if you start doing the research there may be bits and pieces of information that may not be "favorable", but it is interesting and they are family. I try to imagine what their lives were like to make them do the things they did.

If you truly want to get involved with learning your heritage, I am sure there are enough of us here that could help you get started and save you from making the same kinds of mistakes we did when we started.

Tammy said...

On a sidenote.. I saw where the LDS was mentioned.

Does anyone here know what motivates the Mormons to keep such extensive genalogical records?

It's interesting.

stronghunter said...

Deb, I think you are right. It looks something on the cam in Finland.

stronghunter said...

Norma, yes, that boat has been there a long time. Either it is anchored or the camera has frozen up.

paula eagleholic said...

I hear Hidey calling for lunch!!

movin said...

Good Morning, Norma. Not too much fireworks myself.

But I did catch several big shows from around the country on the Internet. How about you?

We can hear the fireworks from Disneyland, which is not too far away, but usually I don't see anything from there.

Finney on the water's nest: I think the lens is either becoming fogged or becoming cleared of fog. Notice the side toward the sun is too warm for fog, and it is clear.

Finney on the land's nest had that yesterday and the day before, but it looks pretty clear to me now.

It is 75 here, Norma, headed to 86. The boat is in the same area, but a different position. I think Shirley is right, it is anchored there.

stronghunter said...

If you watch at Finland site, you can see it update. The boat moved a bit when it did.

stronghunter said...

What a beautiful place to go sailing. I might want to anchor my boat there, too!

normabyrd said...

I just glanced at the boat the 2nd time---you folks are right!!!---

I have been watching the 'BURROWING OWLS'---They are so CUTE!---could watch them strut around all day!----

deb said...

I can't get the live feed to work for the burrowing owls. It would be fun to watch them scurry around the nest area.

Costume Lady said...

HELLO! Hope everyone had a nice 4th celebration with family and friends. We enjoyed the evening so much, along with Lynn and Margy. I think they enjoyed themselves too.
The firework display is in a field right across the road from GeeGee's. So close, that some of the embers from the fireworks landed in neighbors yard. No damage.

Costume Lady said...

I have posted some photos of the fireworks and FIRECRACKERS from last evening on JUST FOR FUN.

hedgie said...

Good lazy Sunday afternoon, fowl friends. Have really been lazing today! Watching A Capitol Fourth that I taped last evening. Been reading through the various links posted here, too....some very informative info. AND wrote to my congresswoman about the proposed road that will destroy the habitat of DC's eagle pair!!
Oh, no...Wanda mentions firecracker pics...hope it's not me!! I was dressed in red and she and the Captain both called me a firecracker...LOL!
We had such a great evening! They, and GeeGee are such gracious host/hostesses.

ceil said...

Good afternoon all. Wanda great pictures. Did everyone have a good 4th? Hope so.

hedgie said...

Not too bad, Wanda!!! Yes, Margy is our angel fairy! Think you pics turned out better than mine...I have the corner of the awning in almost every shot!!! Guess I forgot that the lens pics up more than I see on the viewer screen!

ceil said...

Lynn I loved your outfit.

hedgie said...

Hi ya', Ceil! How is your weekend going? How were the Harbor fireworks??

ceil said...

Margy did look like a fairy but I think she is an angel in disguise.

ceil said...

Lynn the fireworks were great. Not long enough but we sure did have quite a few drunks in the area. But that is normal.

Costume Lady said...

Hi Ceil, do you live near the Harbour or is it Mary Margaret?
Yes, Lynn looked very pretty in her RED FIRECRACKER OUTFIT! Red is a good color for her.

ceil said...

With both live near the harbor. MM lives right across from the Science Center and we live about 6 blocks from the harbor. We walk over one street and have a excellent view. Love it.

ceil said...

Off to write to Senators of our district. Can they get any stupidier?
Homeland security and they have to build a road and chop down a tree where a pair of eagles live. Whew.

magpie said...

Awesome pictures, Wanda and Gene - you really captured the fireworks and that Red Firecracker Nicely !

Hi Afternoon Folks...
Enjoyed your Fourth of July details, Ceil

I got some pictures posted in Wildflowers, Feathers and Fur, and started a new link "Fun and Dandy." (Ceil, got some Railroad pictures on that one, and Lynn, the Froggy palette I told you about. )

Goldfinch pics are a little blurry, I was taking them through a screen door.

Speaking of door, out the door now to pick up a new photo card and a battery charger for my camera before my trip next week.

TTFN - Hope all are enjoying the day.

xox ☺ ♥

magpie said...

PS - The food pictures are on Fun and Dandy!

hedgie said...

Got distracted! Phone calls and baking a pound cake.
Wow, Ceil, didn't realize you and MM were that close to the Harbor! Ballparks are close by, too, aren't they?

hedgie said...

Margy, pics are great! Thanks for including the palettes---love the froggy!!!

ceil said...

Lynn we walk to the ball parks. Football days we sometimes hear the crowd.

hedgie said...

Oops...waited too long for some rain...my fuschia looks really sick...hope it perks up now that I remembered to water it!

hedgie said...

Did hear that there was a fireworks incident on I-70 outside of Hancock yesterday...a car loaded w/ fireworks caught fire...no injuries, apparently.
A second person did die form the Ocracoke explosion.

ceil said...

Margy great pictures. Look like James was having a good time. Food looked good.

hedgie said...

Forgot to mention that my eagle floor mat in the truck got "fed" last night---my bag of leftover New Yorkers leaked on the mat!! Truck smelled delicious today when I went to clean the mat!!
Can't wait for dinner time to get my goodies!

together. We lost one of our young
eaglets,it was on the ground under
a power line pole,so we think it
landed on the cross member and was
able to touch each line and was
electrocuted.I am very sad.Please

hedgie said...

Dave, we have been wondering about you. So glad to see you and know that you are alive and well. Such sad news about the eaglet....condolences to you all. I had checked your blog a couple of days ago to see if you had added any new pics, and commented on here that you were MIA! Welcome "home".

Hi all! Made it to church this morning. Received some great greetings. Then spent the afternoon scrubbing the trailer. Amazing what two boys can do to the carpet in the trailer. LOL
We still need to clean the outside and make some repairs.

Have NOT opened any cams until just now. Went to OK and there was the eaglet with fish. Hurrah! And I can hear Hidey fussin'!

Laurel is recovering. Leaving Joey to tend the boys this afternoon. She was ready to turn them over to him. LOL He did let her sleep in this morning.

Talked with Michael last night. They have sold their house and found a new one. Signed the contract yesterday. I am amazed at the house they bought. Have only seen pictures on line. But, I am in awe that MY SON will have such a house.

Good news! I only gained two pounds on this trip. Will get it off quick!

Lolly, guess you have to get the RV ready to go back to the storage lot....but, good grief, gal...don't knock yourself out your first day home!!!!

Almost time for Army Wives!
Yes, Ceil, Mits has deserted us today! Maybe she did too much yesterday. Do we need a blonde alert???

Good Night to All that I have missed chatting with today. Germany Gang is still here for a few more days and then
I will be a full time chatterer.

I had a good day - Full of love & hugs! Kisses too!

I have had emails from Mits But I realize your concern as she said yesterday that she was using Metro all day..

Prayers for all - happy for Dana & Ed and for Margie, Lynn, Wanda and the Capt for sharing their July 4th festivities with us. Love the pics Wanda & Margy!

Peace to All! (((hugs))) ♥

Sounds Good, seeing Lolly, Paula, and Mema Jo on here, and Hedgie and Ceil, and I caught up with Dana earlier.

Wow, I couldn't even open up the blog tonight, had to come in backwards through the live cam. And I can't get Still Cam feed either. Makes me paranoid, but at least the rest of you couldn't get the still. Whew!

We got a Full Moon coming up Tuesday morning at 5:12 so it is going to look mighty full Monday night. We need Megan to give us the Moon Name for this month. But I would settle just for a hidey-ho from Megan without the Moon Name....

I got a nice screen grab from Finland nest earlier from Mits so I know she is with us...

Hi MIts wherever you are....

Lynn - I tried that refresh trick for Finland, still no go. :(

Good Night Paula, glad you had a fun day, and I hope you don't have to work so very hard this week as last.

My computer is not playing nice tonight so I am going to say Good Night to all, wish I could stay home with the pillows tonight, but midnight to 6 it is for me.

Prayers for all, and hope Monday will be a good day.

Still adjusting to being home. Tomorrow we are going to mow. It really needs it! Had many days over 100 while gone and the yard did very well. Of course the water bill will be huge. Have patches of dead lawn and my impatiens suffered, but may recover.

The trailer may not make it back to storage. We have a couple repairs to do and we are leaving again next Monday. This time we are heading to the coast. Going to Port Aransas. Have had reservations for some time. It has been discussed whether we want to go or not...but we have the reservations for nest week. And it is too late to get them for another time this summer.

GooD NighT/GooD MorninG

To you all.

More fun & games with management inspection around here again in the morning ... just guessing they didn't get it all done last week, because I opened the door to get some air just after midnight, and there was a duplicate of last week's notice.

Have a good week, everyone. Hope everyone with illnesses are recovered or getting there.

That weather report looks great to me. It was nice Saturday at the lake but rained all night Saturday night, so we just got up and packed up and left yesterday morning. We had alot of company this weekend at the lake. It is great to have company but we don't rest like we normally do at the lake when it is just me and Tom.

Mits said...

yes, it is not easy leaving. probably go back sometime later next week and stay till I come back for Maggies' BD in August, then go back down, September is my fav month down there, and so is October.

Mits said...

I like when company comes to the beach.....

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

My chest wall/ribs or whatever are still so sore. Sneezing, coughing, turning over in bed, reaching all are hard to do right now. I am staying out of the yard from now on when the grass is wet. Getting too old to be bouncing off the ground. My knee is alot better but still swollen. Such a klutz!!

Mits said...

sounds like cracked ribs Sissy....

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I love it when company comes to the camper too. We had a boat load Saturday night to watch the fireworks on the lake.

Mits said...

did you go to Andrew's concert?

Mits said...

Finland lens still cloudy,,,when that happened to Finney's nest recently, it took about 5 days to clear..

Mits said...

but Finland's closeup is still clear to see the chicks

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

No, we were at the lake. We had already made reservations down there and had a bunch of people coming, so I couldn't cancel it. Him and Kelsey were here when we got home yesterday, packing more of his stuff. I cried again when he left. This is some tuff stuff, this kid leaving our home. It is the same as a son moving out. Me and Tom have to keep telling each other this is the way it is supposed to be, not a bad thing at all. But it still feels bad, ya know?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Those chicks are so camouflaged, it takes me a minute to get oriented and see them.

Mits said...

even with having only one child, I was pretty happy....because I felt I had did my job and got him to that point in life where he was supposed to be, so it was more of a joyous relief....and am so proud of him now, he is a great husband and a wonderful father, who has more challenges than a regular dad would have...and his girls adore him.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

That is true. Tom tells me that all the time. We did the best we could and he has always been a great kid and made good decisions, so we have to trust him and know this is a good thing.

Your son sounds like a wonderful man. I would love to meet him and the M&M girls someday!

I emailed someone at the Finney nest, about the trees , they were pretty full last year, have heard some rumors on the blog about a few things, but wanted to get accurate story...so Laura emails me back....she does not understand my question, but gave me the two sites she watches,,Finney's and Finland

Mits said...

well I was hoping they could join us this year for open house, but Annie's due date is the 19th....so we will see, they might be up for a road trip if she gets antsy....
