Yes, the link allows me to "lurk" and read. Bandit was quickly located on the ground and taken to rehabilitation (OWL)place. Appears it is a she and she is going to be okay. I have read nothing indicating physical injury. Pictures were posted last night showing Bandit being treated. Pictures today sow the limb on the groud and how rotten it had become. Apparently this nest has had problems. Parents were flying about and perched on nearby power poles. Don't know what they do when the eaglet suddenly disappears. Will be banded and released when old enough.
Certainly was an emotional experience for me. Better this morning now I know Bandit is getting good care and is physically unharmed.
Hi Judie, I am still having some trouble finding my way around in their system. I did get the information yesterday about the rescue of Bandit, thanks to the link provided.
I go to the bottom of the page that shows up first -- the section that says post comment/post reply and over to the right side are page numbers. I click on the most recent, next to most recent to check on updates and see tree/nest pictures. Hope this helps if you need it. Their system is more complicated. I like ours much, much more.
Good Morning, everybody! TGIF!!! Happy Friday! Thanks for the new thread, Steve. Hope you have a good weekend! Boy, the nest 'tree' looks like Hidey came in for a landing on it! Will be interesting to see whether it recovers. Judie, thanks for the update on Bandit--it's nice to know she's being cared for. That was a scary video of her fall! I'll have to get another heron picture on here for you guys. I don't have one of the two babies together, though. They were too wary of me, thank goodness! They moved to the front yard last evening, and were busy picking up little fish under the trees. When someone walks down the sidewalk they disappear into either our Lantana bush or the ferns under our tree. They're well camouflaged!
I must say, it sure is good to be here today! I was a wreck yesterday when Internet Explorer wasn't working! Made me realize how isolated I feel without all of you! Judie, I know what you mean when you say Bandit's situation was very emotional for you. I've had 3 baby heron casualties this season (they fell out of the nest/tree and didn't survive.) Just breaks your heart when it happens. The ones that are making it OK really warm your heart!
Well, now that it's daylight here, I'm going out to get the newspaper and look around quickly for baby herons. These two are excellent fliers, so they could be anywhere. Be back in a couple of minutes...
GOOD MORNING AGAIN... I was yelling at everyone on the other blog, to get up out of bed... and talked to myself for about an hour. Come to find out, everyone was over here! Thanks LYNN for letting me know that there was a new thread and that I was LOST IN TIME!:)
Good morning, momsters and dadsters. Lovely--not--am here----drizzling and gloomy. Hey, Norma, so glad you have your g'kids there to brighten your week! Shuttle is scheduled to return at 10:48am!!!
Good morning, Sharon (nice avatar!) and Shirley! I went out through the garage to get the paper in the driveway, and the two herons are on the roof, walking around. No parents back from fishing yet, so it's very quiet out there.
Good morning, Lynn! You'll be happy to know that there is one less 8-legged freak in my neighborhood as of yesterday! He was on the outside of our front door, way up at the top, in a weird position, playing dead. Andrea.....question....you said the herons were eating little fish under the trees...do you have little ponds under them???? Glad you got my message, Wanda.....noticed that there wasn't a call over, and was afraid someone would get lost!!
No, Lynn, those herons are pretty sloppy eaters, and we find all kinds of seafood under the tree, which they've apparently dropped. Not unusual to find a small crab leg or a fairly large mackerel out there!
...Several sardines are a typical discovery in the morning. I try to rake them up so they don't attract flies, but the baby herons have taken over for me. They just eat them!
Yes, the parents come back from fishing at the beach (we've seen a bunch of adult herons at Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach--a good 25 miles from here) and regurgitate what they've caught for the babies. I'm not sure, but I think pelicans do that too.
Yeah, some days it seems as if it's raining fish and crabs. Between that and the poop shoots, we tend to avoid walking under the trees this time of year! Roughly half of our yard is nicely whitewashed by now. I wonder if we could get some kind of protected status as a rookery!
Gotcha', Andrea. Guess that would make a mess if they didn't eat them all! Thank your hubby for decreasing the 8-leg population by one!!! Whew---I would not have been using your front door!
Wasn't it Lynn who was walking around with a stick to keep spiders away? Sounds like you need an umbrella to avoid poop shoots and falling fish, etc.
We sometimes have "poop" birds here that fly over in flocks and poop on everything and everyone below. Was sitting in the car with my daughter one day watching a poor woman run down the street holding her purse over her head for protection. It was raining poop on her.
Guess you can see why the guy across the street from us gave up on putting large goldfish in his front yard fountain! (The egret that ate them still stops by to check for more!)
Ha ha--Lynn, that's exactly why I always go out front through our garage door! Not as many of the 8-legged critters there. For some reason, they tend to hang out by our front door. I think it's because we keep our porch light on all night 'cause our street's poorly lit. Probably attracts a few bugs for them to catch, even though it's a yellow bug light.
I get many spiders on my front porch and around the garage door. Always feel creepy when I go out in the dark to turn faucet on or off.
Once encountered black widow spiders on an ATM. Did not get my money! Machine sucked it back up. I called the bank the next day and the woman there freaked when I told her that there were black widows in their ATM.
I would not think they would be in groups, but there were 2 or 3. My son saw them too. I have never gone back to that ATM.
Yep, Shirley, me and my stick AND Wanda with hers!!! This morning I had to use the umbrella, tho'!!! ure glad I didn't encounter anything that I would have had to clean off it! Can't even count the number of seagull poop hits we've had through the years when we were on the ferry to Ocracoke!!! Wise to wear a hat, but then the wind tries to snatch it.
Hey, Shirley, say hello to George for me, and tell him about this: last night I ate a piece of string cheese, and it had a quiz on the wrapper. Q: Which animal has an IQ surpassed only by monkeys, chimps and humans? A: the cat!
Yes, Lynn, I saw the birds...an accident waiting to happen! It was a beautiful touchdown...Do you remember when they use to parachute into the water and bob around for hours before getting rescued? Made me nauseous just watching!
I enjoy watching all the different things and people start to gather around the Spacecraft...need to sleep though, but what a beautiful landing, perfect setting. 6.5 million miles between launch and landing !
Hey Margy, in the pillows....did you happen to hear if the structure fire last night on Hedgesville Rd. was the "rat trap" building across from Hofes' Welding??? Looked on the GIS map as if MAYBE it was! Hoping so...it has been condemned but the new building inspector said that she can't locate an owner to get it torn down. Think I'll take a ride in a little while to see!
I have had some good luck taking pics off the TV....so I did a movie of the landing...got the largest bird in one segment....but now batteries need recharging. Will let you know if it's any good when I get it on the other puter!
I told the lady at the bank that they might want to call an exterminator. Don’t know, but expect they might have. They had a little house that to go in to put money in the machine. I said I guessed they had lots of little cubbyholes in there that they put their hands into. She was horrified.
Good Morning All.... watching NASA and heard Margy holler out that our Blue disappeared! All good things at once! And I have my RED shirt on! Norma - enjoy the grandkids! I know you are in heaven having them there!
Well, at least with the shuttle, there's no engine intake to suck the birds in! And I imagine that the craft itself could sustain a hit without too much damage---maybe??? LOL....if foam can damage tiles...makes me wonder, huh? But to withstand the "burn" of re-entry....who knows. Yep, I remember the water splashdowns and Navy pick-ups!!
A fire in the middle of the night, shows up fully involved, always curious, Lynn
Good Night, Eagle Pals, I need to get some more shut-eye - not sure if I will get called in to work tonight or not....not suppposed to but one never knows so I have to bank some sleep...but not at an ATM !
I was thinking horse nettle, too. But we always just called them briars. I could not Google them until you guys used the name horse nettle. I have a lovely one growing through my back steps. Very healthy plant.
Yep, Margy....and no storms...and I imagine there wasn't any power to it. I had talked to the building inspector about it a couple of months ago after seeing young kids on the porch....she had already condemned it but couldn't find the absentee owner.
Oh, Shirley I meant to say I know you INTENTIONALLY make mistakes to make me not feel bad about my typos. Sorry! Anyway, glad you escaped the Black Widows. Met one when I was about 6 years old. It was living in the garage and I think that was the last time I played in the garage.
Missed the landing -- was snoozing.
Must be a reel treat for everyone living at Lynn's place with all the fishin and poopin and stick swingin
Good morning! Slept a little later this morning. It was late when we went to bed, but slept great. So good to have an enjoyable evening and forget the court issue. Gina has been told to bring Gus to court. This really disturbs me. I guess if Dad gets temp custody, Gus goes with him right then and there. I do not want to be there if that happens. Please pray that the parents are reasonable and no drama today. Won't be good for Gus or me if there is drama. I am a very emotional person!!
We had breakfast on the patio this morning. No home made bread, Norma, but canned bisquits with sausage and cheese. Yum! Very plesant temp out and no humidity.
Lolly - I pray all goes well for Guz today. These situations tear at my heart strings! I would feel like scooping him up and running away! ((hugs to you))
We have 9 goldfish in our lower pond. A few years ago we had a huge heron in the backyard. I ran out and chased him away. He flew to the roof top of our neighbors workshop. A few days later, maybe even the next day we had several fish missing. Restocked and all has been well. We count them regularly. We never get baby gold fish as we also have mosquito fish and they eat any eggs that hatch. Darn! But, have to have the mosquito fish they eat any mosquito larvae.
Yes, Jo, I would like to do that too! I would give anything to have him in a happy, two parent home. Or, even in a one parent home where the parents worked together for him. Life is so unfair to some...and little Gus is a victim.
Margy, know you're back in bed, but wanted to add that the owner or the county should have set it up to be used as a training exercise for the FD...preferably during daylight hours. That would have eliminated the danger posed to neighboring properties, at least!
I just saw the most amazing thing. Nature never ceases to surprise me!
All 3 chicks are in the nest with Mom. The fledgling had a fish and was eating, the other two watching, and Mom ignoring all of them. The middle chick was screaming at the fledgling. The fledgling believe it or not, went to give a bite of fish to middle, I now call the fledgling Mom Jr. Anyway, middle one went to take the bite, but instead stole the fish! Next refresh, middle is giving the fish to the one with the bad leg! That just amazes me. Mom Jr got the most incredulous look on her face when middle gave the fish to baby. I'm not sure the chick with the broken leg is the baby, but I'm gonna call her that...easier to type. Then middle went over to baby and was coaching her as baby tried to eat the fish. Baby has a hard time holding the fish and pulling the meat off. But baby wedged the fish between some sticks and she could do pretty well. Middle was still coaching her, but now that she was getting bites, she went into serious mantling mode! In the meantime, mom jr and mom are in the back of the nest talking things over. What a hoot, that is just amazing. I honestly don't think middle wants to fledge and leave baby alone. Who knows.
I got some pics, in fact quite a few, but haven't edited (cropped) them, this just happened. I have to go to an appointment, should be back about 11 or so. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on computer. In any case, don't know if I'll have time to edit/send pics.
It really does sound like Gus needs an attorney. Maybe the judge will appoint one. Don't know anything about how it is done in Texas, but do know that it is done in Virginia.
Would think that the court will protect the child from any court battles.
Wow, Lynn. Those Finney chicks are something else. I watched one the other day that kept coming back and leaving as if to show the others how it is done.
I posted some new pictures on my blog, including the horse nettle growing through my steps--I've got to get rid of that plant, the rainbow after the tornado warning, a sunset, and most importantly, one of Hunter helping me with some plants.
Some petunias and something else. Not going out there to check what they are right now . . . I would have to read what it says. Cops still there. Don't want to be on porch. Think it might be a drug bust.
Might get a couple of pictures he took posted. He asked me if I would do that. His camera doesn't have the best resolution, but he has some okay pictures. He got a fledgling wren at the mall. Couldn't get too close, though.
Wow...kennel is flooded...dog couldn't get out her yard...and fought me going out at all--had to lift her over a big puddle at the gate, but she found a high spot! We need the rain, and I really didn't want to mow today anyway!
When cops are outside my house I am happy because they "hide" out front to catch drivers who think STOP is a suggestion. Shirley, hope the miscreants are take away from your house.
SWAT team--Will said that is not the proper term, but is what most people call them. It was a big vehicle. That was awhile back. You all are going to think I live in a bad neighborhood!
Shirley, son is correct. I believe SWAT teams are now called Emergency Response Teams (ERT). One of my students is ERT and I told him it sounds more like he should have a stethoscope instead of an assault rifle. I still like SWAT - pumps more adrenaline.
The Delta blog seems to have two participants with a little disagreement. One thought Bandit should have been left alone while the other is defending the OWL rescue. The one who thought Bandit should have been left alone thinks she would have eventually flown up to a tree branch. Don't think that person knows how much practice it takes for a baby to fly or that an attempted flight could have been a very, very short distance to a highway death.
I expect they would not have caught Bandit so easily if he/she had been capable of flying up to the branch. The report said that the wing muscles were not strong enough.
I've returned from running my errand and I sure did hit some DIRE WEATHER! Drove 10 miles under the limit and had to walk in a foot at least of water to get to where I was going. Umbrella helped keep my upper body partially dry but my jeans pant's legs & shoes are quite soaked. But I am safely home! I had to retrieve Marvin and Scar from under the picnic table on the deck. They made a run for me when they heard the patio door open. They meowed to me "Bad Momma"!
IMHO - Bandit is exactly where she needs to be with O.W.L.!
I am hoping the Finney nest osprey chick with the hurt leg will be taken from there soon and sent to rehab. I loved Suzanne's commentary on today's actions at that nest.
Jo....you know you're not supposed to cross deep water!!!! Glad you made it home safe and sound. Was Mr. Ed with you holding your hand? How was Aaron? Bet the cats were MAD at Mema!! Please be careful at that patio door, too!!!
I, too, believe that Bandit is in the best place! If his wings have not developed enough muscle to sustain flight, and not having had any practice, he surely would have been a dead eaglet by morning.
There just did not look like there was enough room in that nest for the exercise Bandit needed. I do not think Bandit is the first eaglet to fall out of that nest, either.
Shirley if you check out Magpie's Roost link there are some of my Megan Flowers there - I get to market when I can and buy some of her specialities! xox
I am like you, though, I want to get my pictures more totally organized ! One of these days.
All my postings are kind of old now Judie - I have a bunch more to load but just need to sit still long enough to do it! But my three feet just keep on truckin'. I want to get New York Ironweed on film and hoping to find Cardinal Flowers and Joe-Pye Weed soon!
Happy Friday to Everyone... work has not called yet so I have a little window to slip through for some kid fun. Watch the Weather, and Be Careful! xox ☺ ♥
lol Hegie - Patio Door! When I cross through that Patio Door I can still feel the pain of that broken bone. Very gingerly I step high across it!
Aaron was great - l love that kid! Well he will be 30 this year. He had just taken a week down at our beach house and loved it - rain and all. Especially the Thrasher Fries!
I am dry now - that was quite a downpour of rain and I think more to come!
Checked the pictures, Maggie. I like the flowers and also the benches. So wish the deer hadn't eaten almost all my flowers plus the tomatoe plants have no tops. Usually canning tomatoes in a week or two but not this year.
Going to google the flowers mentioned as I have never heard of any of them -- live in a flora vacuum.
Are thrasher fries a local specialty or some exotic flower?
Still stormy looking here but rain passed by quickly.
Judie - Ocean City Boardwalk Fries are sold by Thrashers - Aaron said they now have 3 store fronts instead of only the one that would get a line a mile long. Glad they woke up to a more productive business.
Hi again, eagle lovers! I went to watch Endeavor land--and thank God for a safe landing!--and then promptly fell asleep for a nice panda nap! Guess I must have needed it. Shirley, I just LOVE your George! It's obvious that the quiz people never met him! BTW, I do have an old umbrella hanging by my back door, just in case I need it. Lolly, I've been praying for your situation with little Gus! Sure hoping all goes well for both him and for you!
Hi everyone. Just stopping by to say hello and send best wishes to all. Has Hidey been to the nest lately? I really miss watching him/her. When will this nest be active again? I don't want to miss a thing!
Shirley, I sure am glad your neighborhood is nice and quiet again! A storm warning too? Golly! Never a dull moment sometimes, right?! Hope all is well back there. Prayers for safety! Well, I have to send out some resumes, so BBIALW. Take care, everyone! :o]
AAAAAGH! Our computers were down for the last two hours. They still made us take calls and tell people we couldn't help them. That did not do any good--anyone that was mad, just got madder! Sometimes you have to wonder where people get there logic from. There are a lot of other call centers that could have helped those people. Hmm, I think I need a margarita as soon as I help feed the osprey. I am off to see the birdies!

Good morning, Floralgirl and Steve.
Lolly, hope all goes will with the court issue. Good that you have lawyers in the family.
I hear Hidey squeals in the distance.
Good morning, everyone.
Thank you, Steve.
I also hear Hidey and heard some tap dancing on the microphone. Maybe a brief appearance?
Lolly, I know everyone is wishing you an easy experience in court. Having your son with you will be a huge help.
Think I'll check in on the Delta situation. Paula, thanks for letting me know I'm a true eagleholic.
Maybe I'll go back for a little more sleep.
Cheers,
Judie
The plant in the nest seems to have been mashed or knocked over. Maybe Hidey sat on it?
Good morning, Judie.
Judie, did you find any information at the Delta nest? It is still dark there.

I do not think the tree plant is horse nettle. No spines. No blooms yet. You can now see the stems and the underside of the leaves.
Good morning, Sharon (nice avatar!) and Shirley! I went out through the garage to get the paper in the driveway, and the two herons are on the roof, walking around. No parents back from fishing yet, so it's very quiet out there.

Don't think it's the cam..think it's NCTC

This just happened. Everything was fine awhile ago. Maybe someone is playing with the system. No storms that I am aware of.
Morning, Mits!
Who do we have to notify about the blue screen?
Oh--here's another heron picture from yesterday afternoon.
Andrea.....question....you said the herons were eating little fish under the trees...do you have little ponds under them????

Paula, thanks for alerting Steve regarding the blue screen. :o]
Gotcha', Andrea. Guess that would make a mess if they didn't eat them all!

Tornado in Memphis, I guess yesterday. System is coming to the east coast. Batten down the hatches, folks.
Endeavor still about to land.

Watching Endeavor Action now on the Web...
Thanks for the Alert ! xo
Already noticed our Blue Blue Screens...

Touchdown countdown at 11 mins.
Hey, Shirley, say hello to George for me, and tell him about this:
last night I ate a piece of string cheese, and it had a quiz on the wrapper. Q: Which animal has an IQ surpassed only by monkeys, chimps and humans? A: the cat!
And there she is !
Hi, Margy,
Say, if Endeavor is about to land, I think I'll go watch it, too! Thanks for mentioning it! BBIALW.
less than 3 mins.
just heard those sonic booms...
George says he knows he is smart! He's not so sure that monkeys, chimps, or humans are smarter, though.
George has plenty of cattitude.
Is that not so very beautiful...
Hallelujah Hawaii...they are home safe !
Beautiful landing!
Hedgie is our Shuttle Queen...
keeps us posted on when it goes up and when it comes down !
thanks Lynn!
It'll be another hour before we see any astronauts...think I'll head back to the pillows !
Another flawless landing! Did anyone see the birds flying in front as Endeavour made its' final approach???
I saw those big black birds, Lynn !
During final approach some of those views of the Shuttle resembled an eagle ! Big long strong beak...
Wanda - I remember what you just described...
There were just two chicks at Finland Water, one just left !
I was panicked, could not get that site to open early this morning, glad to get it back again.
can't tell if original fledling left or if it was the second one
Maybe Osprey-eyed Helen can discern.
I saw the birds, Lynn.
Oh, Shirley, I'll be afraid to use an ATM now.....argh!!!!
Ferry at Water Nest
I have had some good luck taking pics off the TV....so I did a movie of the landing...got the largest bird in one segment....but now batteries need recharging. Will let you know if it's any good when I get it on the other puter!
Our Nest Cam is Back up, Still Cam Also !! ☺
Thanks NCTC Folks !
Correct, Lynn on the bldg across from the welding shop.. it was slated to be demolished...maybe this was cheaper ?
I just don't use THAT ATM.
I told the lady at the bank that they might want to call an exterminator. Don’t know, but expect they might have. They had a little house that to go in to put money in the machine. I said I guessed they had lots of little cubbyholes in there that they put their hands into. She was horrified.
. . . a little house to go into . .
Margy, I was thinking the same thing! The side cockpit windows looked like eagle eyes!
Nest plant is recovering and growing.
Pretty views of the back and tail feathers of the chick at Finland Water nest..
three chicks at Finney Land.
We've had several fires it the area this week, two in the city in two days. Hope it's not a trend !
So Glad we heard from Dana !
xo TTFN ♥
Good, Margy!!! What an eyesore, not to mention a hazardous situation! That building was Bill's original carpet sttore (rental) back in the 80's.
My horse nettle guess was just a guess....Wanda and Megan had some other choices which are probably better ones.
So long.....
I was thinking horse nettle, too. But we always just called them briars. I could not Google them until you guys used the name horse nettle. I have a lovely one growing through my back steps. Very healthy plant.
Maybe it really is a tree.
I remember water landings too.
Especially the one that almost sank.
Ooops, sorry I missed you Jo !
I had my RED on overnight, and will wear some more when I go out later !
Yes, Yay, Triple Yay for Norma !!
I have a horse nettle with flower bloom on my wildflowers link Shirley... need to post some of my Massachusetts pics this week-end
xo A three or four batch of "so long" postings from me. Ceil is gonna notice !
xoxox TTFN for Real now !
Yep, Margy....and no storms...and I imagine there wasn't any power to it. I had talked to the building inspector about it a couple of months ago after seeing young kids on the porch....she had already condemned it but couldn't find the absentee owner.
Lake Washington Owl Nest Box is MT!
I guess they both have flown the coop!
Later,
Judie
PA Woods changed to the Salt Lick pic and there were 2 young deer with their mother at that location. Then it switched back to the squirrels & birds!
Anybody ever heard of a band called Little Texas????? I haven't but daughter says they are big-time. Playing at our county youth fair Weds. evening.
Lolly, my thoughts and prayers are with you today....too bad Michael can't stand up and say "I REPRESENT GUS!"
I am fixing some 'brunch' even though it is almost lunch time here! I have just had coffee so I am ready for food.
BBILW
Judie, it's Andrea with the fish and poop! I just twirl my stick!!
I can't get a whole pic of Finland water nest....only shows top third of both....it was that way most of yesterday, too....anybody else??
For those of you saying prayers for Gus today...I have added a few pictures of him on my blog Family Pics, though he is not family.
Lynn, went to Finney water and I have the whole nest. I checked the date to make sure it was not frozen on an old picture.
Here is message from Suz: very cool!!
I just saw the most amazing thing. Nature never ceases to surprise me!
All 3 chicks are in the nest with Mom. The fledgling had a fish and was
eating, the other two watching, and Mom ignoring all of them. The middle
chick was screaming at the fledgling. The fledgling believe it or not,
went to give a bite of fish to middle, I now call the fledgling Mom Jr.
Anyway, middle one went to take the bite, but instead stole the fish!
Next refresh, middle is giving the fish to the one with the bad leg!
That just amazes me. Mom Jr got the most incredulous look on her face
when middle gave the fish to baby. I'm not sure the chick with the
broken leg is the baby, but I'm gonna call her that...easier to type.
Then middle went over to baby and was coaching her as baby tried to eat
the fish. Baby has a hard time holding the fish and pulling the meat
off. But baby wedged the fish between some sticks and she could do
pretty well. Middle was still coaching her, but now that she was getting
bites, she went into serious mantling mode! In the meantime, mom jr and
mom are in the back of the nest talking things over. What a hoot, that
is just amazing. I honestly don't think middle wants to fledge and leave
baby alone. Who knows.
I got some pics, in fact quite a few, but haven't edited (cropped) them,
this just happened. I have to go to an appointment, should be back about
11 or so. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on computer. In any case,
don't know if I'll have time to edit/send pics.
Ooops! Guess I blog-pooped. Sorry.
Judie
Oh, wow, Lynn. How cool that was to watch all of that!
Lolly, hoping all goes well in court this afternoon and Gus receives the best outcome for him and for those who love him.
Judie
Thank you, Judie. Time to go get ready.
BBL
Lunch time here. Lolly, I hope the parents behave and that the day goes well for Gus!
I am going to have to organize my blog.
Lolly, some very kind people and some good lawyers helped me protect my children in an ugly battle. I still appreciate it and so do they.
Time to head back already. BBL
The judge had excellent insight.
I hear Hidey!
Lolly, Gus is a cute little guy. Bless his little heart.
Raining at the nest.
Raining quite hard here.
Yikes. Cops have stopped someone right in front of my house. Not just a traffic stop.
Two cops. Two cars.
Judie, so easy to get us all mixed up! No biggie....I wasn't chiding!!!
Good pics, Shirley...Hunter is a good looking lad! Grandma's little helper!
Are those petunias on the porch?
Some petunias and something else. Not going out there to check what they are right now . . . I would have to read what it says. Cops still there. Don't want to be on porch. Think it might be a drug bust.
Watched cops through window next door once, and they came and knocked on my door and asked if I'd seen anything. I felt like an old busybody.
Cam is back on :):):)
Hunter is a sweetie. He enjoyed helping me.
Might get a couple of pictures he took posted. He asked me if I would do that. His camera doesn't have the best resolution, but he has some okay pictures. He got a fledgling wren at the mall. Couldn't get too close, though.
Hope they don't knock on your door today!
Pics if Gus and Hunter are great!
Love the rainbow, Shirley! I have never been able to find that pot of gold!
Need to do an errand and then wait for a visit from gs, Aaron.
Rain hasn't started here yet Lynn.
BBL
Wow...kennel is flooded...dog couldn't get out her yard...and fought me going out at all--had to lift her over a big puddle at the gate, but she found a high spot!
We need the rain, and I really didn't want to mow today anyway!
Have heard stories about a couple of kids on this street. If there are drugs down there, I hope the cops get it all cleaned out.
Pretty and sunny here right now.
Cops searching the guy's car.
Glad front door is locked.
At least 3 cop cars out there now.
Excitement in your neighborhood!
No, I wasn't upset. Just felt stuuuuuuuuuuupid!
Adult is at Delta nest looking around. Wonder if he/she will stay around now that Bandit is gone?
Really storming at Hiey's house. Getting dark here -- supposed to have thunderstorm.
Judie
Wonder how many other people are peeking out the windows?
We real excitment the night the swat team came in.
That was the night I learned what a "flash-bang" was. It did not take long for everyone to be out on the street--probably not smart.
My storm alarm just went off. How much excitement can I take? (Just severe t-storm watch--probably on the way from Hidey-nest.)
My storm alarm just went off. How much excitement can I take? (Just severe t-storm watch--probably on the way from Hidey-nest.)
Severe storm warning for Frederick and Carroll Cos., MD. Stay safe!!!
Well, just that quick Delta adult is gone.
When cops are outside my house I am happy because they "hide" out front to catch drivers who think STOP is a suggestion. Shirley, hope the miscreants are take away from your house.
Later,
Judie
SWAT team?
Judie
A woman has come from somewhere and is sitting in the car. My guess is that they are taking the guy away and she's moving the car.
Cops are doing paperwork.
Warnings out now for almost all of NW VA and SE MD counties!
Satellites both in and out, intermittant access!
SWAT team--Will said that is not the proper term, but is what most people call them. It was a big vehicle. That was awhile back. You all are going to think I live in a bad neighborhood!
No, Judie.....you are NOT!
Shirley, definitely sounds like it is somebody they were particularly looking for. One more off the street, we hope!
CNN is predicting dire weather for the east coast.
I want them off the street, for sure.
Ominous clouds gathering here. It is oppressive out there. Cops and everyone else gone. I went out and retrieved my trash can, which had blown over.
Cam just went blue again.
Back to my crime notes.
Judie
Cam is back up.... guess it could be the weather partially doing the outage
Glad you are safely home, Jo.
IMHO - Bandit is exactly where she needs to be with O.W.L.!
I am hoping the Finney nest osprey chick with the hurt leg will be taken from there soon and sent to rehab.
I loved Suzanne's commentary on today's actions at that nest.
On some forums you can go back to your comment and 'edit' your typos or whatever you want to change.
Also on some forums you can post pics!
I wish we could do those 2 things on our blog.
BBILW going to dry off my feet!
Absolutely nada in the way of wildlife out and about. Smart critters!
Jo....you know you're not supposed to cross deep water!!!! Glad you made it home safe and sound. Was Mr. Ed with you holding your hand? How was Aaron? Bet the cats were MAD at Mema!! Please be careful at that patio door, too!!!
Yep! Got a little snit going on the Delta blog. Somebody got told off. We have the bestest blogger!
Jo, get thee to a warm shower/tub and dry off.
Judie
I, too, believe that Bandit is in the best place! If his wings have not developed enough muscle to sustain flight, and not having had any practice, he surely would have been a dead eaglet by morning.
Understand there was a huge thunderstorm in Jefferson Co...no wonder the cam is schizzy -
Prayers for Gus...and all those involved, to think of the child and not themselves...know that's how Lolly and Jack are about it!
Great pictures, Shirley! Your front porch flowers remind me of my Megan Flowers
Get thee dry, Jo, I agree !
whole family at Finney's -
and my Finland cam is a little whacked too, reminds me of some crazy artist like Picasso sometimes, things all disjointed.
There just did not look like there was enough room in that nest for the exercise Bandit needed. I do not think Bandit is the first eaglet to fall out of that nest, either.
Thanks for the kind words, Megan.
Gus is adorable, Lolly
Children deserve to be happy and at peace...if more adults would be like children, this would probably happen.
Computer does not want to play nice right now, going to move along and take care of some other things.
Best Wishes for Happy Outcomes in whatever your endeavors are.
xo TTFN ☺ ♥
Shirley if you check out Magpie's Roost link there are some of my Megan Flowers there - I get to market when I can and buy some of her specialities!
xox
I am like you, though, I want to get my pictures more totally organized ! One of these days.
TTFN
Just wanted to drop in and say "Hello in Eagleland".
Still a lot of scratchy feeling in eye and very blurry. Haven't read comments. Just in to say "Hi".
Prayers for those that need them. Since I haven't read comments God knows when I pray. For whom all He is taking care of with my prayers.
Hugs I have appt. a week from yesterday with eye dr.
Hugs to all wvgal_dana
LOL, cam is back, I'm sure you know. Guess this is blue/green Friday.
Hi Dana, all will be healed and healthy and happy soon.
Shirley, flowers are lovely and Hunter is a knockout. Need to check Magpie's flower pictures, next.
Delta Bandit may be ready for release in about 30 days.
Hear Hidey somewhere.
Judie
I heard Hidey too!
Eaglets are at Lake WA nest
I wish we had an eaglet at the NCTC nest!!!!!!!
Have a great evening, Margy.
Jo, I think you and I were out in the same downpour. Did you hear there was a tornado in Urbana?
Blogger got me
Had to sign in again
No I didn't Paula. I didn't have local news on..... It better stay out
of my valley!
Going to the kitchen.
Judie
Judie - Ocean City Boardwalk Fries are
sold by Thrashers - Aaron said they now have 3 store fronts instead of only the one that would get a line a mile long. Glad they woke up to a more
productive business.
Judie are you staring into your refrigerator for dinner suggestions?
Hi again, eagle lovers! I went to watch Endeavor land--and thank God for a safe landing!--and then promptly fell asleep for a nice panda nap! Guess I must have needed it.
Shirley, I just LOVE your George! It's obvious that the quiz people never met him!
BTW, I do have an old umbrella hanging by my back door, just in case I need it.
Lolly, I've been praying for your situation with little Gus! Sure hoping all goes well for both him and for you!
I think I had best think of something for our dinner.... Going to look into the frig!
BBL
Hi everyone. Just stopping by to say hello and send best wishes to all. Has Hidey been to the nest lately? I really miss watching him/her.
When will this nest be active again? I don't want to miss a thing!
Shirley, I sure am glad your neighborhood is nice and quiet again! A storm warning too? Golly!
Never a dull moment sometimes, right?! Hope all is well back there.
Prayers for safety!
Well, I have to send out some resumes, so BBIALW. Take care, everyone! :o]
Hidey stopped in for a minute the other day....we really haven't seen him in 2-3 weeks.
Lib and Belle will start their nestorations in November and December....that's when we will start seeing them coming back to the nest.
ALMOST TIME FOR THE SPLIT.
Hidey does tease us with a few remarks from time to time.
Nice looking young man there, Shirley. Sure looks like horse nettle in our nest, too.
