Walking in this morning I saw no sign of an adult around the nest, so they are now leaving the eaglet alone a bit.

Tapteacher, Hidey hatched on March 14 so -- 4 1/2 weeks old I think, 5 weeks old on Saturday.
For Your information:
I sent a couple of pictures to Steve, regarding our concerns about Belle's Beak, and he thinks she probably got tangled up in something, and he will keep an eye on things.
Also reminds us that "these are Tough Critters that Lead Tough Lives..." So true !
Dana I also mentioned that you had seen Belle getting knocked out of the nest last week..

Norma 18 miles is short for us. Remember Red has that very large lawn with a lot of trees. Probably is one (could be main) reason moving. We had to do the same with hubby on oxygen. Couldn't take care of the large yard. So we down sized.

EJ at Loch Garten Osprey nest laid her 1st egg of the season today April 16th. Maybe in Scotland that was yesterday??

I was watching EJ squirming all around and moving things around in the nest Just right - then Odin came in and they mated twice - so I didn't miss seeing it by much! I think they are 5 hours ahead of us.

I just found the Eagle cam. Can someone tell me the approximate size of the eaglette? I read that it was about 1 month old and I am curious about the size.

Good morning! Good to see Hidey moving around. When I first got on the was asleep and hiding. He blended into the nest quite well.
Hear the children! They are happy it is not raining.
Where are our eagle experts to tell Dianne the approx size of Hidey?
Don't know the answer to your question, Dianne---welcome, BTW---but an eaglet reaches full size at 12 weeks, so at 5 we can assume that he is probably about 8" "tall"---Paula, Jo...anyone else know?
Whoops! OK is down. They hope to have it repaired soon. Appreciate the fact that they post that it is their problem and not my computer.
Eaglet Growth - The young birds grow rapidly, they add one pound to their body weight every four or five days. At about two weeks, it is possible for them to hold their head up for feeding.
By three weeks they are 1 foot high and their feet and beaks are very nearly adult size.
Between four and five weeks, the birds are able to stand, at which time they can began tearing up their own food.
At six weeks, the eaglets are very nearly as large as their parents.
At eight weeks, the appetites of the young birds are at their greatest. While parents hunt almost continuous to feed them, back at the nest the eaglets are beginning to stretch their wings in response to gusts of wind and may even be lifted off their feet for short periods.
Triplets are asleep at NBG. I think they have been rocked to sleep. Is it the tree the cam is in or the tree with the nest that sways so much?

I know you cannot open up Loch Garten....very funny routines there, Odin showed up with fish, EJ was interested, then he took off WITH the fish, and has done that once or twice...as though he wants EJ to get up so HE can see HIS Egg too! I really must have just missed seeing the laying this morning...picked the wrong time to do computer work :(
The egg when I did see it looked pale blue with speckles, but it was a very quick glance.
I can't keep the site open for too long either.

StorchnestBlack stork had some narrative but don't recall whether they had a sighting or not, but were hoping that they would return to cam nest.

I think Hidey is okay...probably quite warm in the sunshine...was just eating a little while ago and was very alert.

They pant almost like dogs in the heat! I know, it used to make me a nervous wreck too, but it gets easier after you watch em awhile and learn what is "normal" for them.

Thought I had captured a great shot of Hidey showing off his tonsils...LOL!...but it wouldn't save on two tries....drat! It was so cute. He's really motivating around the nest....the little explorer.

Sure, you can keep it in a seperate tab, and then just go back and forth between pagesof whatever you are doing. Bookmark or save to favorites the main page...then when you are ready to get on, right click on it in your list and select Open in New Tab.
Both Ospreys on the nest at BWO now. Wonder when Lisa will bring the cam delay down to 30 secs. again.
Looks like they are getting close to starting their clutch now. I saw the female lying down and forming an egg bowl in one of the flattened root balls a few minutes ago.

I am not like my fancy friends, can't do the link but if you copy and paste this into the address line it will get you there just the same. Then from here you can go to the Osprey cam (BWO). This is the eagle cam (BWE). I didn't know it was two separate places until about 3 months ago!!

If you want to receive the captures we grab and send out, we will need your email address....don't post it on here!! You can either have it on your profile page or put it in an email on the momsters yahoo site. We also have some neat keyboard characters if you want them! Things like faces, musical notes, degree symbols, etc.!

I was wondering why the mother Hummingbird was away from her eggs so long...wondering, wondering.....
Finally I read a bunch of stuff above the picture and I learned that the eggs were 'stolen by another bird' on April 14th.
I wonder if the Hummingbird will abandon this nest altogether now.

Whoa, hi Mattie!!!! I forgot you all are on spring break!!! How is everything? How are your grades? Are you getting ready for 6th grade in the fall? My granddaughter can't wait to move uo to Jr. Hi. Hoping that the next time you all come, she can, too, and hang out with you!
Yeah, Lynn, Tom went back to dayshift and only had to threaten to quit to get it!!! He gets home around 3:30 and I get off around 1:30 or so, so I have time to pick the house up a bit, take a shower, and cook supper before he gets home. It is absolutely wonderful, just love it!!
I will give this back to Mattie now, Lynn, so she can talk to ya!

Hidey needs to get his head back into the nest and STEP AWAY FROM THE SIDE!!!! I can't even imagine what it would have been like if there were three like him.

Just saying Hi after a wildflower forgaing trip at Swinging Bridge - I didn't pick any! but saw tons of bluebells, spring beauty, Trout Lily, cutleat toothwort, and I found Colstfoot! Saw two soaring Red-Shouldered Hawks, and had a pair male and female red-bellied woodpeckers traveling with me through the woods.
Also, May Apple is popping up all over! Also saw grape hyacinths, took a bunch of photos, will check them out AFTER A PANDA NAP.

She hide under Helen's coat most of the day.

ltl...those white feathers on Hidey's head will be leaving soon, they are just downy feathers. Their heads and tail don't start turning white until about 3 years old....full change completed when they are five.
