Thursday

New thread.

Walking in this morning I saw no sign of an adult around the nest, so they are now leaving the eaglet alone a bit.

That was so messy, I'll try typing again! Hidey is in the middle of the nest, that's why he looks so BIG!

Must have been a swan or goose at Sidney nest

deb said...

I checked the Hancock forum and they were all saying seagull on there, Paula.

wvgal_dana said...

It had been so white I thought there was also some snow in the nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Whoa...Hidey on the edge!

paula eagleholic said...

That was a very feathery seagull!

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey back in the middle of the bowl...you can really see feathers coming in all over...and his tail too :)

wvgal_dana said...

Feather hanging from adults beak lol

paula eagleholic said...

Kewl, you could see adult was on branch above cam...noise, wing and into the nest!

paula eagleholic said...

Lib's having sghetti now...

Hidey is getting food...where is he/she putting it??????

Hidey is getting so big. Isn't he just wonderful? Mauley

When I was leaving work Hidey was eating and he is still eating. Must be going to his feet and wings.

Back from GeeGee's. She is really enjoying this beautiful Spring day. We put netting over all her flowers that the deer and groundhogs are nibbling and check all her bird houses. She has three sparrows with eggs and one black-capped chickadee with eggs so small they look like jelly beans:)
This nest is new to us...it is so very neat and the outter part of the nest is made completely of beautiful moss.

Costume Lady said...

Hidey reminds me so much of Dustin. We had a late lunch at GeeGee's and 2 hours later had Supper here. He had 2 deluxe cheeseburgers and 2 servings of broccoli and 2 glasses of chocolat malted milk. He will want a snack before going to bed:)

Costume Lady said...

Hidey is so full, he can only flutter one wing...probably saying he has had enough!

hedgie said...

The bottomless pit of a growing boy, Wanda!!!

sara said...

Cleaning up all the leftovers.

sara said...

What is trying to eat the camera?

Costume Lady said...

That would be SPIDEY, Sara;)

sara said...

If a spider sounds like that I don't want to see him.

Costume Lady said...

LOL...Have you seen him yet, Sara?

sara said...

I'm just waiting on Spidey to jump onto the lens.

Niece and Randy said...

Looks like the parent might have left to investigate the noise??

I knew a Steve Chase from East Tennessee, would this be the same one maybe??

sara said...

I thought that was his leg but then it stopped. Need to hear the music like in Jaws when they are waiting on the shark.

Costume Lady said...

Don't know about that Niece and Randy.

Sara, if you haven't seen Spidey yet, go to my profile page and click on JUST FOR FUN...he is the second photo down.

sara said...

That is a big spider....

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey is alone in the nest!

Costume Lady said...

Sara and Niece and Randy, this is TV night for many of us and that is why there aren't many comments on here tonight.

Niece and Randy said...

I understand tv night..lol..Greys Anatomy , Private Practice, and now ER's replacement, Southland..but I can't seem to leave the eagle cam, hmmm

An addiction warning should be posted on the main page!

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, having had 2 boys and 2 brothers, I certainly have seen my share of bottomless pits!

paula eagleholic said...

Nice Avatar, Niece and Randy!

paula eagleholic said...

N & R - you send send Steve an email through his profile on the front page of this blog...

Niece and Randy said...

I hope you mean the second avatar :) lol..I forgot I had the first avatar for another blog spot! Thought I better change it to fit the blog !

paula eagleholic said...

I like the warning on the Puleston Osprey cam page - "Warning, this camera provides an uncensored view of nature"

Niece and Randy said...

I will do that Paual, thanks.

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, the second!

paula eagleholic said...

Hey, Nature, Like the duck avatar too!

magpie said...

Good Evening Eagle Pals...
got to take care of a few things but in case I miss anyone: This Blog is Awesome....sometimes I compare what I was doing this time last year..just before I signed on to become a Momster..(. Paula you remember, you had to walk me through a lot of it...)
And what has taken place since, well, Wildlife Extravaganza for one.

I think I forgot to mention that I saw a ZEBRA SWALLOWTAIL this afternoon at Swinging Bridge, a newborn I think, small, delicate and so graceful. No pictures though.

magpie said...

But the best part, is THE PEOPLE ~~ ☺ ♥ XO

hedgie said...

Niece and Randy...Steve has lots of pics of himself on his blogs...do you recognize him?

magpie said...

Wanda:
Have you ever thought about putting a cam in a birds nest? I have a close friend who did it last year and it was pretty uncomplicated.....Love the stories about what's going on at GeeGee's !

Back soon...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And Margy, we are much the richer since you found us! :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And, I thought you went to a "Swanging Bradge"???

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh yeah, Good evening to all my friends of fine feather and fur!

I went to the concert tonight and of course my baby boy was awesome. His girlfriend Kelsey is in the choir too. They are performing at Tamarack in Beckley on Saturday afternoon, so I am going to that and I will get to meet Kelsey's mom so that should be interesting!

magpie said...

Oh Sharon....
I am glad to be on the same time as you. Thank for your kind words...
Another concert...wonderful. Beckley, Tamarack....that is fantastic! Remember, our new Sara is from Beckley !

And you are right, it is Swanging Bradge, so right! It was rocking today! xoxo ☺

magpie said...

I saw tufted titmice - a pair - chasing each other from tree branch to tree branch. It almost looked like one didn't have a tuft, and they must have had some sort of mating call because they were different sounds in addition to their usual song...

Woodpeckers all over the place, and chickadees!

And tonight, in the darkness, hundreds of Spring Peepers I bet ♪ ♫ ♫ ♪

magpie said...

I'm going to try to download a few pictures so I will be away for awhile.

Costume Lady said...

Margy, are still going over there by yourself? You need a dog for protection or a Taser Gun or Pepper Spray!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I bet so too.

I had a brown thrasher out in the yard today. First one I have seen this year. I have cowbirds out the ying-yang, Mr. and Mrs. Towhee. Can't wait for my rose-breasted grosbeaks to come back. I love spring and the birds coming back to me! God's Music Box gets louder every day!

magpie said...

Helicopter flying over near NCTC -
If it's a medevac I will be seeing in here in just a few minutes

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Did you know that if you get zapped with a Taser gun, they have to be removed by medical personnel? Not like the stun gun, Taser guns really have Tasers.

Wow, I think a helicopter just flew over the sycamore tree!

magpie said...

Helicopter has not flown by here yet, I am three blocks from City Hospital and when they come here, I know it!

hedgie said...

Haven't heard any copter calls on scanner for Berkeley or Jefferson Cos.

hedgie said...

Might be a MD search chopper on the river or something. It's that time of year! I'll have to tell you the story about my dad's Potomac River rescue when he was a boy sometime! I have newspaper clippings from the two DC papers!

hedgie said...

To those turning in, sweet sleep. Heading for tub...will check back later.

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, I found that out by watching COPS one night. I didn't know that anything actually punctured the skin. Owwwww!

Niece and Randy said...

Hedgie , thanks for the tip! I did not recognize the man in the picture however, another Steve Chase :)

magpie said...

Whew!
I just added about 15 pictures or so to Magpie's Roost link...

I need some practice, but YOU will see some of what I SAW today.

I'll create a separate link, maybe over the week-end, because I expect to take a whole lot of wildflower pictures in the weeks to come ☺

I think I am going to like this camera! ☺

magpie said...

Well, the night bandit is sneaking around....so I better started battening down the hatches...
Will be back to say Good Night before I hit the pillows.

Tomorrow, is Friday....find some red to wear in honor of our Military Folks if you can...☺ ♥

Lolly said...

Here I am getting on just as everyone is going to bed. LOL Went to church this evening and when I got home..Laurel called. We've been yakking!

Trailer in the drive. Will load tomorrow and we head out Sat. Rain expected tonight and tomorrow. Not fun to load in the rain!

Lolly said...

Great pictures, Margie! You are doing great with your camera!

magpie said...

Going to catch a few before you go:

Thanks for all your kind encouragement...Needless to say, I was having a good time!

On the way home tonight, I passed about 10 very nice RV rigs, westbound on our Route 9 - not sure where they were headed to, but Spring Gobbler season in WV does not start for another week, so I think they were headed for some fun, like Lolly is about to do !

Thanks to Sharon and Sissy for helping us remember the victims of the tragedy at Virginia Tech two years ago today, Prayers for those that died, and all whom they left behind.

I know prayer works...happened two times for me tonight. Grateful Prayers.

A look at Loretta's magic and I headed for the feather pillows.

xo ☺ and lots of ♥

magpie said...

PS Sharon: Love your words "God's Music Box" - perfect, absolutely perfect.

Megan would like to see your Thrasher AND the Towhees make a visit in her yard!

xo Good Night....z z z z z I'll be up with the storks Friday ☺

NatureNut said...

Nighty Night to some!☺
I was editing pics to put on & one of the scans started----making everything slow as molasses! So I really haqven't got any new ones on yet.
Margy, isn't digital cam fun????Love your pics and looking fwd to more.
I've been hearing little clunky noises from the cam--someone must be sitting close to the mike.

NatureNut said...

Lolly, how long will you be in OK?Will you stay in one place and camp like your TX trip, or sightsee?

Mema Jo said...

Checking in before heading back the hallway! It certainly has been a beautiful day in many different ways!

Good Night All
Peace to you & yours
Prayers for all needs being said

((((hugs)))) ♥

Lolly said...

We are not going to be gone long. Probably just a few days. We will go to one campground and then go out from there. Taking the spotting scope as I understand the nest is a way from the road.

Costume Lady said...

Night, Jo...
I am already down the hallway, so my next move will be into bed.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

PRAYERS FOR ALL

Costume Lady said...

Have fun Lolly and take photos:)

deb said...

I am off to bed also. I'll look for your pictures in the morning, Loretta.

I did put up some videos of today's nest action on Nest Pictures.

Night everyone.

Lolly said...

Nite Deb! Looked at your videos. Thanks! Missed a lot of action today. Hidey is growing up way too fast. Seemed like last years triplets were smaller for a longer time. :)

hedgie said...

Puter is really slow...guess it's telling me it wants to go to sleep...everyones pics are just elongated colored strips! So I'll say g'night, mates and see you and pics in the morning! Prayers for all.

NatureNut said...

Night Everyone! Have a great time, Lolly!
Great shots, Deb. Thx!
I paused my spy scan so I can USE this machine. Hope to yhave pics on so they can be seen in the AM. (some are not great--bad weather & blur).
I'm still hearing clattering noises--claw on mic maybe?

Lolly said...

Nite Lynn!

Guess I will turn in as well.

Sweet dreams!

Nite Loretta! I know you will all have a great time next week. I will be thinking of all of you. Don't laugh too much!!!

Babysan snoozin' at our nest, but he was preening a little while ago. Still hear those noises near the mic, so I guess that's where the parent/s are hanging out.

Hope you all have a good day...
and that you get to see and do a lot of your favorite things.

See you much much later....after work...

PS - If you are up early, look for the Moon, and then Jupiter and Venus in the Eastern sky...

I think yesterday in our parts, was one of the best days on record weather-wise.

Good morning everyone. Hope you got dried out some from all that rain. I had a beautiful day in a spot very dear to my heart. I will get pictures on sometime over the weekend. Read where our little one is getting to spend some time alone. Run over there and keep him/her company LOL. The gift is you will see a fly in or two also if you are patient :-) Off or coffee and dogtreats and later more pictures is the plan now. Got rain coming in for the weekend but sunshine for today.
