MORNIN' HELEN!---Will wish everyone a BLESSED PALM SUNDAY again!!!---The HILLS are alive with beautiful flowers & trees here in WILD & WONDERFUL WV!--LET US REJOICE & BE GLAD---
HELEN---When did you see an OSPREY in the FINLAND nest?----I haven't see it yet!!---snow has melted---I love that nest!!!---SUZANNE & I discovered that it is an artificial nest a couple of years ago!!---GORGEOUS SITE!!!
HEDGIE---Do you have to wear boots to 'hike out' & get your paper!!---you are so funny!---the paper is the only thing that I DON'T have to hike out for!----
Beautiful Palm Sunday morning. My friend Betty is home from the hospital and doing very well. It is a miracle and your prayers did it. Thank you. Love the new cam and our little Miracle. I watched Hallmark last night. That wasn't Norma Roberts was it? It was very good and will have another movie next Saturday. Have a great day all. Sister will see you tomorrow to see the O's.
Sorry HELEN!---I was referring to the FINNEY WATER NEST---& referring to FINLAND NEST as the ARTIFICAL NEST nest that is high up in the tree!!---Aren't those correct???
the reason we call the man-made land nest Finney, was because, that is what we had nicknamed the chick there one year.....and we just call the water one Finland so not to confuse people when they want to look at it, at least that is what was my understanding when we starting watching these nest several years ago.
04 April 2009 It has been exactly 28 days since the first egg was laid, so we are definitely in the home stretch toward seeing chicks. Keep your fingers crossed, for our couple has had no hatchlings the past two seasons. It's possible that by Easter we could have our first osprey chick...how exciting that would be for all our viewers. Even our employees at Palmetto Electric are bustling with excitement about our potential brood since we went live with our osprey cam in 2007.
We are expecting temperatures to get down into the 30's for Monday and Tuesday evening then warming back into the 50's for evening temperatures the rest of the week. Hopefully this cooler weather is winter's last surge and warm weather will stay for our resident ospreys.
With about a week or so to go.....keep viewing and sending in your observations.
Good morning, everyone. Don't you love it when the weatherman is wrong. We only got about 4-5" of snow. There is a lot of ice on the wires, so I sure hope the wind stays down today.
MORNIN' DEB!!---That was my prayer for you---that you wouldn't receive all the 'PREDICTED SNOW'!! LIFE IS GOOD!!----(when they are wrong in our favor)! ho!
Norma, only have to wear boots if there's snow on the ground! It's about 100 yds. out and 100 back! Ceil, so glad Betty is doing so much better, The Nora Roberts movie was on Lifetime, and there is another one next Sat. The Hallmark movie was one of the pioneer films, wasn't it? THink they are running all week.
HEDGIE!---Thanks for posting his column---He is in our CHARLESTON papers every weekend---& you can find his writings in many bird magazines!!!---I enjoy reading him!
Me, too, Norma...he's in our paper every week, too. If you email him.....don't expect an answer anytime soon....took about 5 mos. to get a response to a question I had asked him last year!!
HEDGIE---It's been a couple of years---but I had a birder friend who grew up in CAMERON, WV--(SHALAWAY'S HOME TOWN)----She wrote & he never did reply!!---Probably gets tons of mail!!! ho!
MORNIN' MEMA JO!---How are you feeling today?---Are you basking in the SUNSHINE?----AREN'T those 'little rebels' a RIOT!!!---I love watching them!!---such energy---never know when or where a fuzzy head is going to POP-UP!!!
If you get time take a look at the Hummingbird nest (still empty..she's probably in another by now) you will find a couple of clips of the latest pair of chicks' fledgings.
Nothing much happening right now at Blackwater. Our Hidey is stretching and growing and yawning and looking pretty.
04/05/09: After an in-person visit to the refuge on Sunday, it became clear that there are three ospreys competing for the cam nest and possibly for a mate.
The birds are bringing in new material, so hopefully two of them will pair up soon and get the breeding season started.
Happy Palm Sunday to Everyone. I think Hidey is bigger today than yesterday!!Guess that happens when you don't have to share food! Had a surprise visit from SIL this AM. He was up on business from TX to Reading PA & didn't want to sit around hotel, so drove to our place. Going back by way of Delaware to pick up some great sub sandwiches! I want one of those!☺
I finally dwnlded a couple weeks worth of pics yesterday. I still have to edit eagle nest & ospreys at Park. I'll holler when I get them on here. Maybe after dinner! Deb, glad you didn't get a blizzard. Ceil, so glad your friend Betty is better.Prayer does work---Frank talked to stepson of his brother today & BIL is feeling well enough or antsy that he wants to get out of house tomorrow for a ride!!!
I was just attacked by a stink bug! Sitting on sofa w/ dog watching news...it came crawling from arm of sofa on to my arm.....scared the daylights out of me!
Ceil so glad Betty is doing much better ( : prayers are wonderful aren't they.
Deb so happy you didn't get the preditction.
Yes it is a long trip for a day one. We took hubby's other sister with us. So all 4 of us went to nice family resturant there. Had a nice meal and shared some hours together. That is just what other sister-in-law needed she said.
See they are already filling up our nest with more grass. For when the thunderstorms arrive.
Neat I loved Larry's site for the Loon last year. I loved watching the chicks ride on the parents back. Great hope the loons nest at the cam site again.
Ah Ha..someone is adding pictures to the Momsters album, number just increased in the New Photos news...and I got the 999 error so I will post a few later, and then enjoy the new additions! ☺
My eyeballs want to take a nap! So think I'll do rest of pics tomorrow. Margy, see you're still standing after a long workday! We just watched a cool show on submersibles going into the Titanic & filming stuff that's never been seen before.

Not sure what I am working, Paula, but I put in for the day off regardless....and am planning to try to do it..... I'll be breaking in my new sneakers before then for sure !
I watched the Country Music Awards tonight and it was fabulous! Just watched Deb's video of Lib and Belle fighting over a fish...I think Belle won that battle. Too funny! Thanks, Deb, for putting those videos on. We get to see things that we miss during the day:)
It's windy on the nest, but otherwise everything looks OK. The big Miracle is sleeping on her own, even in the wind, tonight, but Belle is not far away.
Thanks magpie, so far so good! Hidey is certainly growing. I have had a chance over the weekend to sneak a peak at the nest and keep an eye on him/her!

Good Morning All!
Great to hear that Deb! My 1st question was going to be How Deep Did It Get! We have clear skies & sun here in the valley.
Watching a feeding of the NBG little rebels!
I was rooting for the Sea Eagles this season to have the nest.
It is good to hear from you Ceil.
Great news concerning Betty's condition
You and Mits get to go to the O's!!

update from BWO....
Nest Update
04/05/09:
After an in-person visit to the refuge on Sunday, it became clear that there are three ospreys competing for the cam nest and possibly for a mate.
The birds are bringing in new material, so hopefully two of them will pair up soon and get the breeding season started.
Update from Larry's Loon Cam:
Larry's Loons
There must be a lot of birds by the OK cam, it is a wing feast in the nest.
OSPREY in Washington!!
Should I or shouldn't I? Who do I listen to! I was thinking I would check tomorrow's forecast. The sun is so nice right now.
I love Larry's attitude of acceptance, no matter what, as it should be with nature.
yea!!!!!!! osprey is back.....
Me, too. I e-mailed him and told him the loons are passing through here. Mary saw some at Lake Yankton the other day.
o at BWO
I knew some sticks had been moved, but wasn't sure what was moving them. I wish it would turn around so we could see if it is the male or female.
509 viewers watching duke farm eagle nest
nice plume coming out of Redoubt
nice that he provides for the loons too.
I have been checking Redoubt, too. It hasn't gone off since yesterday morning, but it may just be building up again.
I think it is the female in WA, but it isn't a big necklace.

Deb, glad you didn't get a blizzard.
Ceil, so glad your friend Betty is better.Prayer does work---Frank talked to stepson of his brother today & BIL is feeling well enough or antsy that he wants to get out of house tomorrow for a ride!!!
Forgot to say Congrats to Candy on Tarheels victory. Think the final game is Monday!
Hidey has been alone for quite a while.
Race was another stinker....argh!!
Hidey is eating again and both Osprey are in WW nest.
Make that parent is eating, Hidey not getting any bites right now.
Now it is Hidey's turn.
Parent is getting most of this meal, then a bit or two Hidey.
Evening all in Eagleland
Was in Johnstown Pa left this morning and back now. Sister-in-law
needed a visit.
See Hidey/Miracle is getting fed.
Both our nest, lots of fluff.
Hidey is smart, first get fed by one parent, then when next parent arrives act hungry.
Everyone is eating now.
One eagle left.
osprey at BWO too
Feeding in OK and feeding in PH.
Dana, that was a long trip to make both ways in one day, wasn't it? Hope you found all well with your SIL.
2 osprey at Discovery Village also
I was just attacked by a stink bug! Sitting on sofa w/ dog watching news...it came crawling from arm of sofa on to my arm.....scared the daylights out of me!
I only see one egg in PH, but that nest cup is so deep it could be there. I only see one bobble head, too.
both again
Eagle back with more fluff!
little stinker must have been hiding all winter...
Action everywhere and the dogs think they have to eat.
Hidey was just getting to walk around nest and Mom brought back a ton of fluff to put on her
I was so busy watching and typing, didn't notice I wasn't all alone! Off to feed dogs.
priorities Deb....feed the dogs:)
Ceil so glad Betty is doing much better ( : prayers
are wonderful aren't they.
Deb so happy you didn't get the preditction.

looks like they try to camouflage Hidey before they take off this time of day.
off to fix dinner...bbl
See they are already filling up our nest with more grass. For when the thunderstorms arrive.
Neat I loved Larry's site for the Loon last year. I loved watching the chicks ride on the parents back. Great hope the loons nest at the cam site again.
More sticks arriving at BWO.
I have put 2 sets of pics on Blog. Still have to do eagles and ospreys!
Hidey is so cute preening feathers--reminds me of kitten cleaning up after dinner! ☺
Dinner--I need some!
yum, dinner was good, steaks on the grill, salad, and baked potato:)
That eagle was up close and personal. My live feed is behind still cam.
BOTH
Happy Family of Three in OUR Nest.
Hi Everyone ..

POOF LIB
That was too short of a visit...

geez, Belle step away from the cam
My gosh what a difference a couple of days has made...
Hi Mits....☺
I have been noticing something strange on her beak the last few days, don't know what it is....
Nestorations & now Hidey all alone.
hey Margy....hidey is getting huge
On the Baby's Beak, Mits?
no Margy on one of the adults
Hey, Helen, I have noticed that too. I was thinking that's a stain from eating so much:)
Long work day, Margy?
eaglets alone at Caltran
Okay, Thanks, Mits..I am off Monday so should get some better views....
Not such a bad day, Wanda...12 hours always seems long, but it wasn't too bad, thanks.
I need to go check on neighbor lady....back in a little bit...
Oh Wow Second adult returned
Our eaglet is alone, isn't it dark there??
here come the geese, and there they go:)
There we go, parent is home.

Baby peeking our from under Parent at Okla.....
Ah Ha..someone is adding pictures to the Momsters album, number just increased in the New Photos news...and I got the 999 error so I will post a few later, and then enjoy the new additions! ☺
And maybe we will see Paula soon....☺
Saw a couple outside in last week, Mits, so suspect that it maybe came in when I was coming or going or when dog was.
Our bird is up and Baby is wiggly
BRS is just south of Bluefield WVA tonight
it just felt like a steak and baked potato night, Lynn:)
Your pics are great, Loretta!!! Can't wait to see your park!!
osprey still at BWO:)
It looks like the female there, but I wish it would move so we could see it from the front better.
2 adults and a lively chick at Okla
Neat - the osprey at BWO at night !
I haven't seen the egg at the Heron nest since that one day. I must have been seeing things.
I saw the egg, or what looked like the egg, last night Deb....
but I didn't see it tonight
Osprey left from WW.....
a short time ago...
My eyeballs want to take a nap! So think I'll do rest of pics tomorrow.
Margy, see you're still standing after a long workday!
We just watched a cool show on submersibles going into the Titanic & filming stuff that's never been seen before.
Maybe it just depends on where it is on the nest, if we can see it.
I put up a couple of short clips from today on Nest Pictures.
Osprey back at WW, maybe with food...
Back my server went down for awhile. They don't know why. First time since I've had it for years. Coming tomorrow to check modem. Bringing one just incase.
Evening, all!
All looks quiet...Belle has head tucked in...Hidey just a tad under her...guess he's getting too big to brood at night!
Welcome Home, Paula. Hidey kept Belle up a lot last night. Something just woke up Belle, but she tucked her head back in already.
How much snow did you get, Deb? Your snowstorm will be our rain tomorrow.
hey Paula, how did the weekend go?
Only about 4-5", it was mostly slush this morning. Very wet and heavy to shovel. It stayed too warm to amount to much. It is already about half gone.
It went good. Worked in the yard yesterday afternoon and all day today....too pretty to stay inside.
Deb - sounds like you lucked out! Glad to hear it.
* Hi Paula *
Like that New Avatar...been meaning to tell you !
It's new to me anyway...is it from before or a new addition
( can't find my question mark sumbol )
Hey Margy - don't know if I've had that eaglet on here before or not.
Are you still doing the 5k walk on May 2nd?
And thanks for all the "Welcome Home" remarks!
Great Video clips, Deb
Not sure what I am working, Paula, but I put in for the day off regardless....and am planning to try to do it.....
I'll be breaking in my new sneakers before then for sure !
Hi, Paula! Welcome home. Do you take the dogs with you when you go or do you have a sitter?
Dana, what server do you use?
Suddenly my eyelids are down to my big toes, so I think this is Good Night for me.
Hope the week-end held many wonderful treats for everyone.
See You tomorrow: during the daytime!
Peace, Love and Prayers, for all xo ♥
And best wishes for a good report from the Surgeon Monday, Mema Jo
? ?

I have been taking both dogs with me now, because I am at the house all weekend, except for grocery store trip...
I didn't take them down when she was in the hospital and the nursing home.
Went cam hopping out West & couldn't get back on this site!

Loved that Video you did of Andrew and Mattie....
especially liked hearing your chuckle when "The Dame" appeared during the fellows' song....
Miracle Hidey has really added some size this week-end!
I just heard a train on our cam. We have the best live feed now, I just love it. Appreciate all NCTC has done for us!
Hope your workday goes well and the doctor's are speaking clearly for you today, Sissy
