Okay, so I have been worrying since yesterday that the starling may have killed the flicker inside the tree but I just saw both flickers on the tree. I am so grateful. That has really been weighing on my mind! No wonder I have a doggone headache today!
I am back from the surgeons and I DON'T need a return visit unless I just want to say "HI". The xray showed the bone knitting very nicely. So one down and one to go!
You all have been busy - you already SPLIT. Welcome all you newcomers.
Would be great for you to stop by NCTC on your trip to VA, itl (Lisa) You may want to let us know as some locals may be able to meet with you.
It is warm (hot) outside - glad for my AC! Hidey hanging on her favorite edge
You're right about that plane, Paula Eagleholic, it brought me running, too!! Hi, Mema Jo, so glad to hear your good news! Are you able to lose the cane? So happy you're doing so much better!! :o] Heard that you saw a Bunting on Sunday! Awesome!! What I wouldn't give to be able to see one out here in CA!... Say, looks like Hidey has found a tiny bit of shade-- maybe that's why she likes to sit in that spot. Sorry it's SO hot back there!
Paula I would have loved to do the NCTC walk but will be doing the March of dimes walk on Sunday. Probably by myself. Betty isn't up to walking that much yet. Great news about H and BWO Pandas do that Jim. Moms don't want their little ones climbing. So they just knock them down. Pandas are very durable.
Omigosh, guess what?! I think I've discovered a hummingbird nest outside our bedroom window! It's on a lower branch of one of our huge ficus trees. I wouldn't have noticed it, but the little hummer flew back to it just as I was adjusting the blinds, and I caught the movement. Otherwise, it's just about invisible! Who'd have guessed! Keep you posted.... This is awesome.
Funny Helen they try to keep her calm and the birds get in.I better get things done.BBL Oh Loretta great pics of the trip. Gene and Wanda also. Thanks guys.
I'll have to try to get some pictures-- wish a webcam were possible! Nowhere to attach it, though. That tree is so thick, and the nest is on a tiny branch that's blowin' in the wind! Momma is SO cute! My digital camera zooms really well, so hope I can manage a picture or two.
OK nest cam is up/running. Little one doesn't look like he is very happy. Cam is smudged in two places. Still looks windy and looks as though eaglet would like to hide under adult - in fact he keeps going farther and farther in under the adult!
Hi all! Over in Dallas now and Zach is down for his nap. Actually put him down at 1:30 and he finally fell asleep an hour later. He was happily talking the whole hour. So funny! Had the monitor on listening to him.
MITS.....thanks so much for the recorded hatching of the HI eaglet. I just knew I was going to get to see it today. Who knew I was going to end up over here.
Their lightning storms are frantic - We know from watching the night Lolly and Jack were camping out and the cam would light up the sky that you could see the nest.
Oh, and the first thing I opened was OK. So, glad all is well. Saw the solar panels when there. Also, not surprised at the lightening strike on the wide angle cam. The pole is on a hill, remember?
All - at least there is one camera up and running at OK (even tho it isn't very clear). Heard they had some terrible weather storms, tornado, and such. Good to see they appear OK.
I swear I can see the leaves growing by the hour!! So nice to look around and see GREEN!! Got all of the flower pots and baskets washed. Baskets need repainting after they dry. Still have one mulched area to finish picking up sticks and twigs out of. Going to have to wait until sun gets lower...SO hot out!
Was it just last year that I had the hummingbird and the squirrels in my house?? I am praying for no repeats of that this year. Hummingbirds are really busy at the feeder.
Lynn, it ended up going into my bathroom and was buzzing the ceiling. It took a broom in there, after many unsuccessful attempts to get it to perch on the broom, it finally did and I put the broom out the window. They are some quick little suckers. It took a while.
I was just on the chat thing for HI. People on there speaking French. I did say hello to them in English and one said hello back but I don't have a clue of anything else they are saying! :)
I am home, have caught up as far as this blog. Today was almost all paper work, just did a little fact giving this afternoon. So far most of the people are nice, two that talk too much, but that is to be expected.
Glad your day went well, Deb. Be sure you catch the video of the HI hatching.
Zach is awake now and Jack is reading to him. OMG they have cut his hair shorter than usual and he looks so much like Michael it is spooky. Have been taking lots of pictures.
The first 3 weeks are 7:30-4:30, Mon-Friday. That is for class room training. I'll find out the next schedule closer to that part which is 4 more weeks of phone training.
I took Spanish for three years in HS; French in 2nd grade for half-a year.....don't remember any of it, and Spanish is decent enough to read some, and listen to s-l-o-w speak, but sure can't remember enough to speak it!! Mits, what did you DO in Latin class????
I quick popped in at noon, normally I will have an hour for lunch, but I ran errands today. They give you a locker, but you have to have your own lock. I had to run and get one. Goofy, at Target every locker had a lock, you put a quarter in and took the key. When you put the key back in to leave for the day, out came your quarter.
Parent just brought something that is still living into the nest at HI. It was a mammal of some kind! Had to minimize the screen, can't watch that kind of stuff. Now, had it been a starling I would have loved it! :)
Three friends die in a car accident and they go to an orientation in Heaven. They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are talking about you, what would you like to hear them say?"
The first guy says "I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man."
The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher who made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."
The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them says...Look, he's moving!"
Thanks for the clarification Paula! Since my absence I have missed a lot of news. I haven't really been following to closely the westward nests this year. Jim or you usually keep us updated!
Ed is out cutting the dandelions in the back yard. Do you have very many?
Sharon - I don't even remember her once going down to 6:00 position. Maybe when she starts branching she will. Like how are we going to see her at 2:00 from the road! On My!
Just watched a pair of robins taking a dust bath on the deer trail. And found another barn swallow nest...this one under the steps on the high side of deck. Got 3/4ths of last mulched area cleaned up. New mulch coming next week now instead of this, so guess I don't have to rush! Sofa time for Jeopardy.
Hello to everyone on Eagle Cam! I just read about this site in our local paper this past weekend. Wow! This just amazes me. I can't get anything done because I want to watch the family. I have been calling everyone telling them about the site. Are there other cams out there to watch? Please let me know. This is Wild, Wonderful West Virginia!
Carol, when Hidey first hatched, you would have thought it was a restaurant. Liberty had that nest full of food within just a little while after the hatch!
Good Evening Eagle Pals... 3 and a half hundred posts to enjoy....sure I missed a bunch, but here's something I hope you don't miss: Baby Moon due West...sure is pretty. Did anyone see it last night? Even slimmer. Well, it will fatten up now for two weeks, just like our Eaglet!
I live near Mullens, WV which is not far from Beckley. I read about this in The Register Herald. I am a retired teacher and wow, this would be so neat for the kids to see. I was forced to retire due to illness. I loved teaching and I miss the kids so much. So, here I sit, watching these beautiful Eagles. This is my first blog site and I can tell right now that it is going to be great!
Bibee - our cam is working exceptionally well this year...the feed and sound are great...perfect for the classroom...you can still call your teacher friends and give them the website
When you have time, check out the photos of the Polar Bear Plunge. Wonderful photos of Helen's son, Kevin, grandaughters ( the M&M sisters) and d-i-l Annie. Very special photos...makes me smile and I have posted them on SMILES:):)
Wow almost half way through. Thanks for posting the Hornby Hatch, Mits was really fun watching all your all's comments from when the hatch was occurring.
Yes, nice to see we have more and more Eagle Friends jumping on...I see that the Southern Delegation is indeed growing, Double E-S ☺
No, Wanda, no heat exhaustion calls yet. Lynn....I sure enjoyed being home than being at work, but It is What It Is, and does pay the electric bill so I can sit here and have fun! Voice is getting back to normal slowly but I had to defer to my co-workers for most of the dispatches today
Wow, finally caught up to now. Bibee - there are several teachers and former teachers on here and just plain natural teachers on here too! You will enjoy yourself, and it's nice to you and all the other appreciative new folks on here .....Keep Coming Back ! ☺
I was checking the Puleston Blog site, and there have been TWO different females at the Finland Land nest, and one male. Debate goes on which chick will be THE CHICK this year.
Now, to enjoy some pictures, Wanda, Loretta and Paula...
Saw Deb's beautiful bird posts, wonderful..! Nice to know you have a lot of the same birds there that we do here
BTW I think I fixed the "Can't Post a Comment" problem on my blog links.
Well at 7:38 I took a time out thinking I had 3 good TV shows in a row to watch BUT it isn't Tuesday yet! I had to laugh at myself for losing it!
Welcome eveyone!
Carol & Bibee and all interested newcomers.. On this home page at the far Lower Right & Open the Yahoo Eaglet Group This is the Eaglet Momster/Dadster site from which we send group emails - post pictures and have links to other sites. Please feel free to join us in our Nest!! Email with any concerns or questions to Paula.
Paula....sometimes I have to actually check my "Weeds" books to identify a "Flower..." ☺ Glad you liked them...soon I will be watching for one of my favorites: the orange Butterfly Weed and last year I found a field of beautiful rose colored ones too!
Bravo! Wanda, and Gene, and Paula, and Loretta, those are the pictures and videos I just watched! Sitting here with a big smile on my face. Wanda ! I think yours is the only picture of the Beaver Scent Mound! I like the way everyone has gotten some very unusual captures - there was so much beauty to be seen there..in the Nature, and the People! xoxo
Good Night, Helen. I've been wanting to post those photos, but wanted to make sure it was OK to do so. What are those two little girls going to think of a baby in the house. This is going to be exciting...almost like waiting on an egg to hatch;)
Margy, that was a trip that Gene and I will long remember as one of our favorites. Hope someone can find another place for us to go on another Road Trip.
I'm right behind you sleepy heads! Goodnight to all. Hope everyone sleeps well and those who must work tomorrow--have a great day! Prayers and blessings for us all.
Good Night All I guess I need to turn out the lights!
Wish we would hear from Megan & Dana. Hope Megan is just busy busy and that Dana just could be visiting in CO.

Well, our family was altogether but then I think Belle flew off!
All - not so little one trying to get under mom in OK.--funny. Must be nasty weather!
Sharon, I didn't remember that it was hummers in your house!!! How did you ever get them out???=
RTH cam froze me up and threw me out!
well that was rude, Lynn:)
Lynn, it ended up going into my bathroom and was buzzing the ceiling. It took a broom in there, after many unsuccessful attempts to get it to perch on the broom, it finally did and I put the broom out the window. They are some quick little suckers. It took a while.

I am home, have caught up as far as this blog. Today was almost all paper work, just did a little fact giving this afternoon. So far most of the people are nice, two that talk too much, but that is to be expected.
Ready for dinner
HI DEB! All of thought about you
all day long! What are your actual
working hours and is it Mon - Friday with some Sat?
Anybody interested in a couple of pet starlings?
Free to a good home! :)
Glad your day went well, Deb. Be sure you catch the video of the HI hatching.
Zach is awake now and Jack is reading to him. OMG they have cut his hair shorter than usual and he looks so much like Michael it is spooky. Have been taking lots of pictures.
Non Parles vous Francais, Sharon?
Ha...me, neither!
Hi, Deb...was just thinking that you should have been home by now!
6" of snow in Denver.
they speak french and spanish all the time there.....Sharon....I remember the hummer and squirrel
I took Spanish in the 9th grade and the only thing I can remember from that is Que Pasa! Andrew calls me Madre all the time.
Welcome home Deb.....missed you today.....
I tooK latin in 9th grade, almost got kicked out of the class
The first 3 weeks are 7:30-4:30, Mon-Friday. That is for class room training. I'll find out the next schedule closer to that part which is 4 more weeks of phone training.
bet your doggies missed you:(
Sure would like to know what attraction that 2 o'clock position holds for Hidey!!
If they spoke German, I might remember a word or two, but that is probably about it now.
Been watching HI, thought there was going to be a switch. No such luck!
not paying attention, but the nun liked me:)
both O's at BWO, one is eating
Parent just brought something that is still living into the nest at HI. It was a mammal of some kind! Had to minimize the screen, can't watch that kind of stuff. Now, had it been a starling I would have loved it! :)
There is nothing about you not to love Mits.
Did that make sense?
WAX!! :)
lol....saw that ufo brought into the nest....got to laugh when they all think it is something different....
I got a joke for ya'll!!
The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them says...Look, he's moving!"
lol..

Whoa, that eagle is sure panting from that dinner run!
One of the forum people posted and you all may already know that they reported: Sad news for Santa Cruz 2 chicks die.Sorry if it is a repeat.

mowing break...hot out, but nice breeze out there...
I vote for Number Three, also!
Jo, that story is about the Pelican Harbor nest, which we already knew about.
The shadows are darkening our nest
Can hardly see Hidey except you know she is at 2:00!!! I bet that will be her launch pad.
Well, I just heard somebody hollering and was looking out my windows. Then I realized that is coming through my computer, guess at our nest! :)
Wow Deb, lots of training...
back out....bbl
Now, Jo, Hidey can't make her own launch pad. She has to go with the other 6 we have watched fledge from there! :) ☺
Thanks for the clarification Paula!
Since my absence I have missed a lot of
news. I haven't really been following to closely the westward nests this year.
Jim or you usually keep us updated!
Ed is out cutting the dandelions in the back yard. Do you have very many?
Sharon - I don't even remember her once going down to 6:00 position. Maybe when she starts branching she will.
Like how are we going to see her at
2:00 from the road! On My!
You can see the feeding so well at HI, it is amazing to watch.
Feeding time at Hornsby. Chick peeping and mom feed it.
We posted at the same time Deb. It is great watching up close.
Deb - Ceil Is the feeding finished?
Man! 1060 viewers
I can't get my login to go through so
I guess I don't get counted.
Just watched a pair of robins taking a dust bath on the deer trail. And found another barn swallow nest...this one under the steps on the high side of deck.

Sofa time for Jeopardy.
In the morning and evening shadows, it sure looks like our nest has a big hill sloping down from left to right, doesn't it?
OKLA nest - eaglet is all alone now.
I think they also had a DUD egg.. He is laying on something that looked like an
egg.........
Feeding is finished Jo. Mom resting and chick quiet.
OKLA Nest : I wonder if he has the hiccups? OR if the wind is catching his under his right wing?
Looks like Hidey's doin' jumping jacks!!
Hedgie, I think that was my problem last night, thinking the nest was very sloped downward. I had to tilt my head!
Thanks Ceil - thought my cam may have been frozen..

Hello to everyone on Eagle Cam! I just read about this site in our local paper this past weekend. Wow! This just amazes me. I can't get anything done because I want to watch the family. I am thinking maybe near Beckley since you read it in your local paper?
Adult in our nest!
Bibee, check out beakspeak.com for many other sites. Welcome!
looks like mom is eating it all up, herself! c'mon Hidey - be happy with what is served, it's not a restaurant...
Carol, when Hidey first hatched, you would have thought it was a restaurant. Liberty had that nest full of food within just a little while after the hatch!
App Art Osprey must have eggs. Just saw one of the adults doing the wiggle wiggle in the nest.
More sticks in our nest.
I saw at least one egg at App Art. Where is everybody? Am I by myself? :(

Wow, more newbies again today! Now is that a handle or what...DRAGONMYAZS! LMBO
Margy, did you get any calls for HEAT EXHAUSTION today? I almost called you when I came in from trying to mow:)

Wonderful photos of Helen's son, Kevin, grandaughters ( the M&M sisters) and d-i-l Annie. Very special photos...makes me smile and I have posted them on SMILES:):)
Bibee, another newbie from Beckley posted the article yesterday for us to read....glad to see the publicity, especailly when it attracts new watchers!
Hi, Margy. How do you feel after putting in a 12 hr. shift?? Heard you a few times....could tell you are still a little raspy.
Wow almost half way through. Thanks for posting the Hornby Hatch, Mits
was really fun watching all your all's comments from when the hatch was occurring.
Back after 164 comments more to read ☺
Wow, finally caught up to now.
Bibee - there are several teachers and former teachers on here and just plain natural teachers on here too! You will enjoy yourself, and it's nice to you and all the other appreciative new folks on here .....Keep Coming Back ! ☺
Well, my wonderful eagle friends, it is bedtime for bonzo! Have a wonderful evening, see you in the morning light!
So many new faces on the blog, I love it!! Welcome everyone, specially those Southern West Virginians!! We be jammin'!
welcome Bibee;)
I was checking the Puleston Blog site, and there have been TWO different females at the Finland Land nest, and one male. Debate goes on which chick will be THE CHICK this year.
Now, to enjoy some pictures, Wanda, Loretta and Paula...
Saw Deb's beautiful bird posts, wonderful..! Nice to know you have a lot of the same birds there that we do here
BTW I think I fixed the "Can't Post a Comment" problem on my blog links.
xo
GOOD NIGHT SISSY...I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING LIKE I DID THIS MORNING ☺

Lower Right & Open the Yahoo Eaglet Group This is the Eaglet Momster/Dadster site from which we send group emails - post pictures and have links to other sites. Please feel
free to join us in our Nest!! Email with any concerns or questions to Paula.
Paula....sometimes I have to actually check my "Weeds" books to identify a "Flower..." ☺
Glad you liked them...soon I will be watching for one of my favorites: the orange Butterfly Weed and last year I found a field of beautiful rose colored ones too!
Margy, I have never seen a rose colored butterfly weed! If there is a whole field full, maybe a root or two can be had ;)
MAN! It is 5am at Finney on the water and it Light Out! Osprey at the nest!
Same as Finney on land....
I guess it is that time of the year!
Raccoons in the PA woods
I think behind a tree laying down is a
bear on the Snowman cam...

I'll need to look a while as he is behind the tree and half hidden by
Mrs Goose....
thanks, Wanda for putting the pics on your SMILES:)
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE:)
Good Night Mits! Loved the pictures from the Plunge, and I liked Wanda's Personal Favorite the best too !!! xoxo
Mema...
So very glad you seem to be doing well, and that is a Great Report from the Surgeon...you have been a good patient!
Hope we "see" and hear from some of those we have not seen, in the days to come.
Deb ... glad your first day seems to have gone well.
Special thoughts and prayers go out to Loretta and Frank and family, Perry's funeral is Tuesday.
Good Night Everyone, Sleep Well, and may God Bless Us, Every One xoxo ♥ ☺
