Norfolk Botanical: The adults will hang around for several days before leaving the nesting site
It is sad, but thank heavens it is getting the best treatment. I was wondering this morning if it was affecting its breathing or its eating.
Norfolk Botanical: The adults will stay around the garden but will not stay at the nest, just as they would at the end of a nesting season.

I don't know what those noises at our nest were...didn't seem to bother the eaglets.

Well, that was certainly educational and SAD. Like Jo said, we sat with coffee-in-hand and P.J.'s on and watched history in the making. How fortunate we are to witness all of this. We know that the babe will be taken care of and will return to the skies one day. AMEN

Wow- thanks for the play by play Dana- couldn't stay inside and watch. You know it is sad for the parents in one way, but if you look at it another- the eaglet may have died without interference from man this time, so in the long run this is its best chance for survival. And as much as this pair has gone thru this year to produce this chick I really want to see it survive- back outside- later

God is so so good. I was hearing a chirping outside my window by my computer. Got up and looked. It is a baby robin and I watch while Mom fed it. Now tell me that wasn't mean't to be for me to see ( : ( :
I keep looking to Dana,, but nothing as yet,, I hope they arn't duds like the last one was yesterday,,,,

Megan - that is the best way to look at this situation. It is the best outcome for Buddy and his parents.
Bad AM. At least NBG baby will be treated and OK hopefully.
When I first got up, saw Dad and Daughter hairy woodpecker at suet. He was giving her breakfast--reminds me of Dana's comment.
I have pics of them I will add to my others that are almost ready.
Paula, I had the volume up for NCTC cam and when we heard that banging when I was on WVEC, my hubby said it sounded like someone shooting!

When Lib/Belle came in the nest a few minutes ago, they landed right on the middle chick at 9 o'clock position. Could not have felt too good!
I am sooooo excited, just got word, I will be on the list for PANDA CUB WATCH......training next Wednesday at 6:30pm.....

Here is the information on Lolly's eagle nest:
This bald eagle nest is located in the Delta municipality, a little south of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, not far from the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal. There are two small eaglets in the nest. David Hancock thinks the first one hatched May 5, 2008, and the second one hatched May 7, 2008.
By the way, Tsawwassen is a Native Indian word, and the T is not pronounced.

Just read on the tragedy for the Chapman family. She was 5-year-old Maria, one of three girls they had adopted from China. How sad for them and especially for the brother that hit her! God bless them!

1st examined chick is back up with mom & dad at the nest box.
This is the 2nd chick to be examined.
They explained that the noisy protest is only because of not knowing what is going on - not due to being hurt in anyway by the banding.......
Have to go be a taxi cab for a couple of hours. BBIALW!

Don't we do blood test on the eaglets - but does that help determine sex

I got kicked off and just signed in the site again. There was adult on top of the nest box but no chicks in sight
I was just thinking the same thing! Let's get back on the roof and watch the reunion with the parents.
I imagine there are classrooms on line watching this and this Q/A session is very good for them.
He is something else trying to explain mating of falcons to that age group. Did a very good job of it!

OMG, that eaglet needs to be more careful.
I have been very impressed with all the speakers. They have done very well with the children and I like the way they talked to the falcons. :)
Now I have both parents at the box.
I had seen one adult on top of the box but no chicks. Time & date are correct so I think it is accurate..
I think we need to find out more information on our eaglets getting band. They need that number on them..so information can be recorded on where they go and where they end up nesting when they mature.
We gotten the cam going...Let's think about how we can go about getting this accomplished. Through Dept. Of Wildlife or how?????

They are SO loud & our kitty slept thru the whole thing!(course she's indoor cat, but would like to get out.)

I'm back,, and I watched the falcon banding while I ate dinner,,
those chicklets really shout don't they,,,, but I think the two blokes when over board with the last two chicks,, they were so scared and wanted to go back to mummy and daddy.
I've tried to read back on all the ppast posts but boy ,,,there are so many,,,
I did see one from " Hedgesviller",
saying her grand daughter was taking scones into school tomorrow,, oh dear,,I hope I havn't let the side down with my English recipe !!!
