Good morning Ceil. It just warms my heart every time I see your name on here!! So glad you made the jump!! :)

MITS said...

took her long enough, Sharon:):):)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The little shift in the camera angle would have been good if one of the eaglets had chosen the hiding spot by the tree to hang out in but they hang out at Spunky's/Liberty's perch most of the time and we can't see them! Well, we can see their butts!

ceil said...

As you know I was never one for speed Mits. Good to be on Sharon but not enough time. Have to go now. BBL

Blogger ate my comment. Morning Wanda. Mits dog is not behaving at night. He is sleeping right now. I am going to take him for a walk. Lizard is fine so far. Friends will be home tomorrow. BBL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Me too, Wanda!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I think I would have to refuse taking care of someone's lizard. My dogs misbehave at night so that would be nothing new for me! :)

MITS said...

I think it is time to retire from the pet sitting thing

Costume Lady said...

Ceil, if you are still there, did you have to feed the lizard live crickets? You are a GOOD FRIEND!

MITS said...

lol.....Wanda, she is that..a good friend...

Costume Lady said...

Our eaglets have been up for hours and haven't been fed yet...they must be starved. When breakfast finally arrives, there will be a feeding frenzy!

Costume Lady said...

Our only pets are fish and plants.
When we were away on our Western trip, I gave the fish one of those weekend feeders compacted into SHELL FORM (a giant one) and watered the plants to over-flowing. After being gone for a month, everything was still thriving. Can't do that with a cat or dog (or Lizard).

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

You know, for a GOOD friend, I would feed you and even clean you but don't expect me to touch bugs and feed lizards! :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Do you all remember when Spunky was practicing with his wings and went down over the edge of the nest and held onto the side and then jumped back up! Like - OOPS!

Costume Lady said...

I wasn't on here at that time, but Pearl just about lost it, for sure!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Wanda, I forgot. Seems like you have been here forever.

Costume Lady said...

Lost my Live Feed. Need to push some buttons.

Costume Lady said...

It has been a year in April. Don't know what I did before this. I am like you, it has been a blessing!

MITS said...

what no food????

Suzanne said...

good morning, everybody. Have been on other computer for the last 3 hours, will have to go back and see what I missed. Loon is off the 2 eggs, did see that. Ok, gonna go catch up.

Suzanne said...

OH, jackdaw off babies. Still 4 babies and the 1 egg, so that may not hatch now. darn.

melvsmom said...

Good Morning, Everyone! I have a general question. I have heard "branching" mentioned. Am I correct in assuming that they will jump to nearby branches before actually attempting flight?

Also, (again assuming Spunky is Liberty), he almost fell out of the nest? I bet that nearly scared you all to death. I'd be in tears.

melvsmom said...

Also, do the parents slow down on feeding to encourage them to leave the nest or is there just a "shortage" right now?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Melvsmom - Spunky was the runt of the litter in our first year watching. He fledged on Flag Day. Closer to time to fledge, there will be less food but I don't think we are close enough quite yet.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING DEBBIE...
I have never seen them branch either and I guess we won't see these 3 when they do. That cam is good for now but not for later.

Costume Lady said...

Branches are out of cam view...I guess we have to go down to the Sycamore tree to see them in person!

Costume Lady said...

We should be having a get-together at the nest soon.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Sharon, Helen and Ceil. And Wanda, from the other page. Phew, had to put out some fires. Heck of a noete when they start so early, but nobody else is here usually. So mission accomplished, can breathe now.
NBG is getting fed, and I guess Intrepid has been in and out earlier this morning, but both in nest now. Was a woodpecker on the suet feeder in OKie. Our kids were doing some serious wing flaps earlier. Egg turning in Scotland. Darn, loon eggs still uncovered. It's been about 5 minutes or so I think. Well, all have a great day.

Suzanne said...

Oh, morning, Melvsmom!

Suzanne said...

Still a wee bit early for branching. That's where they do their first "flights" to very nearby branches, and return to the nest. A loon is out on the water near the nest, just swimming slowly back to her eggs.

Suzanne said...

She's at the nest swimming around looking around before getting on the eggs, I guess. They sure are pretty!

Suzanne said...

Check out the PA babies, looks like one found something to eat and by golly, got it down! But it looked like 2 were sitting side by side singing to each other. Till the one found the food scrap, too funny.
Anyone heard from Norma lately? She had election stuff Tues, and yesterday was her study group, but don't know where she is today.

Suzanne said...

Zooming in on the NBG baby! What a cutie.

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all!

Nice sunshine on the nest!

That Norfolk baby is growing like a zucchini!!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh I remember that.

Where is Spunky? Where is Spunky?

That little rascal used to hide on the nest, behind the trunk at 6 and you couldn't see him!

melvsmom said...

I see that Pearl still has that feather on her beak. I wonder if it bothers her as much as my OCD self?

melvsmom said...

Did you see that? She FLEW!

Mema Jo said...

Good earlier then normal Morning

We need to look up some videos of our first loved trio in the nest 2 seasons' ago for some of our newbys to view. I didn't even consider that Branching was a new word - Bad Mema Jo! I'll find some Debbie!

Mema Jo said...

NORMA - where are you today?
I realize she was at the polls & then at Study Group - don't know why she isn't here yet this am hour.
Hope she pops in shortly.

I am out of here until late afternoon hour. Hold down the fort!

MITS said...

Debbie, soon parents will do a fly-over and drop food into the nest, so they can eat on their own

This has been such an education for me. I can't remember having more fun on the computer.

It has actually inspired me. My husband has encouraged me in the past to go back to school. I think it might be fun to go back and study animals. Any suggestions from anyone? I know nothing about a course of study.

Thanks for the info you provide. The people I'm working with right now get a kick out of my oohs and aahs when something happens. Several even stop by several times a day to watch and catch up.

Had to leave for a while. Wanda if you are still here. No crickets this time for the lizard. One time fed it crickets and most of them somehow got out in the house. I told Suzanne I am afraid of the lizard but don't tell him. Right now he is laying over his water bowl. No clean water until he moves. Have to leave again. Have a small garden and flowers that did not get planted before the rain. Have a good day everyone. Hi Norma and Jim.

Good morning all,

I hope everyone is well. I have not been here in a while as my life has been taking many turns, mostly good but has been keeping me busy.

My daughter Tori to those of you that know her is back in children's hopsital in DC, I am asking for prayers for her. She was admitted yesterday after a few tests she gets every 2 mths.

I know the power that comes from this group that I have never witnessed anywhere before, so I know all your prayers, thoughts, hopes will be strong enough for a miracle to happen.

Her email is Torshi831@aim.com

she should have a laptop sometime this day,

Thank you.

OH! Our babies got so big, I was watching them sunday they were soaked but ater I was able to catch them flexing their wings :). Last time I saw them they were so tiny.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yes, Robyn, I met your lovely Tori last year on the nest trip. Will definitely be praying for her. I pray all goes well. AND, THE POWER OF THE PRAYER THAT COMES OUT OF THIS GROUP IS SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE EITHER. TOTALLY AMAZING AND SUCH A BLESSING FOR THOSE OF US INVOLVED!

Suzanne said...

Well Hello, Norma. Glad to see you made it to the blog today! We missed you. Yes, love the loon cam, and she just slides in and out of the water, too cool.
Hi again, Ceil. Shhh, lizard isn't lurking on the blog, is he?
Robyn, hi, and I hope Tori is going to be alright. I will pray for her. It's not the same thing as last time, is it? In any case, it's good to see you on the blog again!

Good morning all....Robyn, Suz, Sharon, Norma, Ceil and anyone I missed. Read where Jo will be gone til later.

Suz, I love getting on in the morning and reading your descriptions of the cams. This morning I could really picture the Scotland cam. Thanks!

Won't be on much in the next few days. Today going to mow and then head to my daughters....tonight is Joseph's first grade program. Can't miss that!

And, speaking of prayer, I could use a little tomorrow. PLEASE! Having a little out patient surgery in the morning. Having a cataract removed. So, like I said, I will not be on much in the next few days.

Robyn, will certainly lift Tori up in prayer.

You know, we all get very sad when we think of the nests that didn't do well this year, but when I look at NBG, I really feel good! What a neat family! And, that spoiled little one is growing soooo fast!

Costume Lady said...

Lolly, my Mom had that surgery a few years ago and it was a breeze. They slightly sedate you and your eye is so numb, you feel nothing. No soreness or pain. But it is OK to be aprehensive...that is normal.

Lolly said...

Just had a good view of the stork babies. Sooo cute!

Costume Lady said...

Hi, Dave...yes it is good to be alive and to have a computer to enjoy Gods handywork when we can't be outside.

Costume Lady said...

Has anyone seen our eaglets being feed today?

Lolly said...

Thanks, Wanda! I guess it is the idea of being awake, though they say I will be very relaxed. Counting on that!!

Positive side, maybe I will have more time on the computer this weekend. Certainly will not be able to work in the yard.

Suzanne said...

Hi all. Mr and Mrs Cardinal and mr downy woodpecker are at Okie birdfeeder. What a cool site.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Have not seen our eaglets being fed.

Lolly, I seem to vaguely remember that storks do do some kind of work with babies! :) Mom had cataract surgery on both eyes and had absolutely no problems. You will be the same way!!

Suzanne said...

Lolly, glad you enjoy the comments. My sister had that done as young as she is, and her vision is better than 20/20 now. Think she told me 20/40, but I personally, don't really know what that means. But it does mean she can see better than I can! She has to have her 2nd eye done also, but then she won't need glasses any longer. She's looking forward to that! You'll be in my prayers.
Hi Dave, how's your eaglets?
Naturenut, thanks for the info on Deb's unknown bird! Sure is pretty! Phew, back to it for a few more minutes. Busy day, can't wait to go home and maybe take a power nap... or something!

Good Luck on your surgery Lolly!

Lolly I have cataracts and when they first started doctor said they were so slow and he almost said you will be gone before they can come off. This time he said they are growing fast. Will dread going through surgery. You will be in my prayers. Robyn so sorry to hear about Tori. She was doing so well. Hard when your child is sick and you cannot help. I believe so much in the power of prayer.

Thanks, Norma, just saw your note. Lady G is gonna get a partial haircut this afternoon, but she doesn't know it yet. I'm sitting on the couch with my scissors, so when she arrives to sit on my lap, I'll be ready. She has a clump of hair that's gotta go before it really becomes a mat. She's not gonna like that! But she'll get over it, I think.

Hi, everyone. I hit the yard bright and early to beat the rain and it still hasn't started. Maybe the weatherman will be wrong. I have also been to the green house and the grocery store. With my tree gone I need sun plants instead of shade plants.

Thanks, NN on my bird ID. I read about that one last night and wondered if that might be why the coloring was so different.

melvsmom said...

Sharon, one parent brought in leaves yesterday. Talk about some disappointed babies. But eventually one of them picked up the leaves and rearranged them for a while. Maybe it's a lesson in nestorations or nestkeeping.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Maybe. I have seen a parent in the nest twice today and no food either time. Don't know what is up with that but I am sure they are not starving.

Mema Jo said...

melvsmom
At three or four weeks, this eaglet is covered in its secondary coat of gray down. In another two weeks or so, black juvenile feathers will begin to grow in. While downy feathers are excellent insulators, they are useless as air foils, and must be replaced with juvenile feathers before an eaglet can take its first flight, some 10 to 13 weeks after hatching. Pearl is plucking her downy feathers

Mema Jo said...

Hi Dana - just signed on a few minutes ago. One of my kids brought me 4 Salvia to plant. I still want to get over to market & get some from Megan. Didn't get there yet.

melvsmom said...

Sometimes it looks like they're wearing bike helmets.

melvsmom said...

So, Jo, why do they seem to be stuck in the beak somehow? Just sticking to something or what? It seems that even when she scratches they just hang on. I assumed it was Pearl because she's first and probably goes thru changes first.

melvsmom said...

I had never noticed their talons before. How cool is that?!

Mema Jo said...

melvsmom - Looking at Pearl with a feather in her nostril makes me want to sneeze. I would think she could scratch at it a remove it or rub her beak! I had to laugh yesterday - dumb feather would not go away!!! lol

We have turned on the AC only three times and only once over night. This is very unusual for it to be this cool. It is presently 68.

We are in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. We are in the country. Houses in our area are on 1 to 4 acres. We are on 1 acre.

Oh, I love Athens!!! Our church has a camp there. Our women love to go there for retreat. Athens is a small town, but very nice.

Athens is in east Texas, the piney woods are there. We are where the west begins.....literally. We happen to have our house in a band that has oak trees, but west of us, the trees start to grow a little thin.

I live right up against the Sierras in the Sacramento Valley. Lot of water in the rivers but no rain in the summer. We get our all in the winter.

Well better speak now that I'm finally on! Good Good Evening everyone.
Got more news from our naturalist, Greg, at the Park. He also believes our female osprey is not alive and is having bad luck w/a foster chick. I think they are too young to move now. Maybe we can transplant later and make a lean-to Tiki Hut for protection like last year! That foster child reared by our male fledged. He's such a good boy!
I've also been watching the stork---beautiful sight.
Gonna see end of ER. BBL
