Helen, I have 2 skunks that hang around also. Hope they're not mixing their genes!!! Ugh, smelley possum...worse than normal. Ok, wanted to see if I could split this. outta here for real...
I think that's it Helen. HUMMM. I have to go to the store, when should I go? Maybe we just won't have dinner tonight, much more important stuff to do. LOL
I will have to wait for a video. Dr. Sharpe must be nice to look at, I assume, Helen! Can't wait to see it. I am off, another store closing here. Walmart is gradually closing down the local stores, too bad. 40% off, so will see if there is anything I can't live without.
Good afternoon everyone! Another busy day at the hospital. I'm a little stressed today. If you don't mind, send some prayers my way. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks. :)
The eagle at SR female was digging around in the egg cup. Maybe making it bigger. She sits there with her egg showing for awhile now. Beautiful picture.
Dana, if you check the information at the bottom of the Catalina Cam, one of them has a list of all eagles born on the island since like 99. If you have the number of the female, she may be listed there. Sorry I can't remember which camera it is.
Have you not seen DR. SHARPE--JILL?-----He climbs up to all those nests & removes their eggs & puts in artificial eggs!----It is AWESOME to watch!!---Is that what he is going to do today!!---But I don't think I can get it!!---HECK! HECK---(i don't think i have ever said heck before)---LIFE GETS TOUGH SOME TIMES!!
He first takes a picture moving in to get the eggs stomping down rubber gloves takes two wooden eggs out put them in nest takes two real eggs puts in box
DEB---I just goggled possum!!---The ones that I have seen---appeared to be larger & don't remember fur being that dark---could be--but I remember the fur as being much lighter!!---They certainly aren't as cute as these appear???---ho!
NORMA- Possum's rank right up there with naked mole rats on the cuteness scale. All the time I lived in Grant County, I hardly saw possums, now here in Downtown Martinsburg, I probably see one a night when I am out working. And Zachary is scared to death of them
She #82 Dia is still sitting away from the 2 eggs in egg cup. She keeps looking at them. Like "ok I am satificed both are still here". Well she flew off.. She will be back. I'm sure of that. She has accepted "fake eggs" for years now.
She flew back in looking towards eggs....moving feet (talcons) towards egg cup....closer...closer..one foot in eggs cup....puttting body into egg cup....laying on "fake eggs"....touched them with beak....all is good...wiggling onto eggs ( : ( :
OMG I just saw some awesome wing exercising over at Tesoro! Woooohooooo! That little one is anxious to fly LOL! I took some pics with my digital cam as I can't seem to do a screen save on that one. Haven't put them on my computer yet so hope they come out ok. Look good from what I can tell, tho. Oh, and good afternoon to all :-)
I love the SR cam you can hear them talking lowly to each other. Both parents are in nest with egg. It does get static and pic goes. It does come back....well worth the watch !!
Hi, eagle lovers. I've been reading the blog off & on today and just now had time to comment. I see that we have gained some new bloggers in the past few days - a late "Welcome" to you! It's 20 degrees up here on this mountain. BRRR! JO - I saw your comment about how hard it is to type those weird letters for the word verification. Because we have some projects in Asia, I have to type some weird names of people and places sometimes. Some of those letters just don't seem to go together! The hardest for me to type is a Q without a U after it. I have to force my fingers to do that. Weird - huh? I have a good possum story. Once my husband and I had a friend and her friend, who was from NYC, in the car with us at night. We were driving on a country road when a possum crossed the road in front of our car. The NYC gal started screaming "OMG, OMG, OMG - I thought the rats in NYC were big!!" We laughed so hard we were crying. I can still see the look of amazement on her face. Here goes (you can do it fingers) ..... txlgqxcn Whew - I did it!
K25... is the male. He was hatched from an egg removed from the West End nest in 1992 and was then fostered into the Pinnacle Rock nest. K34... is the female. She was produced by the San Francisco Zoo in 1993 and was then released from the Bullrush Hacktower on Catalina Island.
Also of interest, the Seal Rocks male (K25) was rescued this past Spring from drowning by a fisherman. He had gotten himself tangled in fishing line and was struggling in the water. Seeing the eagle in distess, the fisherman was able to reach K25 and get him untangled with the help of his friend and then they set him free.
Eagle at BC is settling onto the egg cup. I want to see an egg laid in the daylight. she has eaten, practiced incubating and it is time to lay an egg!! (I hope)
Forgot to say the Dr. visit went very well, healing almost complete and very pleased with vision! Who could ask for anything more.. Thanks for all your prayers and concern. It is truly amazing what God and Prayer can do! To Him goes the Glory!!!
well all, time for me to hit the gym. I can't express how much I appreciated your prayers today. It made my day just knowing you all were praying for me.
I watch it in Quick Time Player and it stays open. My computer just does it automatically when I hit the link on the web page. First a white box comes up and then Quick Time opens.
Do you know why Dr. Sharpe and the crew have elected to take the eggs and incubate them from the two nests this year... "why these two nests" in other words??
Interesting question Jim. I can't think of any reason these would be different that the others. Could it be the age of the Eagles? Are those nest exposed to more adverse enviromental elements? HUMMMM
Jim there is actually a thread on their blog that sort of deals with the subject.
The eagles feed on marine animal carcasses (not fish) which are contaminated with DDE (?) which builds up in their systems which causes the egg shells to be soft. So age does have something to do with it. The older the eagle the more contaminated.
Thanks, Jill. That could be a reason. The WE females are 25 at least, the male was new to the menage last season and is 7; but the TH pair are not nearly that old...
I just looked them up ... info under the cam ... and they were hatched in 1998 and have been breeding since 2003. They're not very old as Bald Eagle pairs go.
I think you are at least partly right, Jill, and I think I'll check into it further.
OK, Jill & whoever is interested, here's a link to a series of questions and answers on the IWS site. Read them all to learn why only the WE and TH nests will be incubating woodies this year. Also, there's a glimpse at next year.
Jill, there in a tinyurl.com site which shrinks the long urls, but this "clickable link" is from a formula I got from a dude on the Maine blog last year and then brought to the folks on this blog.
I don't have your e-mail, and it's not a good idea to give it out here, but if you have mine, e-mail me...then I can send you the formula and some instructions.
Another way might be to see if Paula has it listed on the left side of the momsters site.
You have to pay attention to every little detail, but once you've done that, it's easy.
A Magistrate ... like a Justice of the Peace. I know I've seen them working on TV or something, but I don't recall exactly. Think I've heard of Police Magistrates too.
Oh dear, I just went back and checked your profile. Saw the city you live in. Reminded me of a Jeff Dunham clip I saw the other day. I will have to look for it and send it to you. Concerns the pronounciation of Santa Ana.

I ggogled possum, it looks like the color can vary quite a bit. Probably like you all have gray squirrels and ours are more reddish.

Dana, if you check the information at the bottom of the Catalina Cam, one of them has a list of all eagles born on the island since like 99. If you have the number of the female, she may be listed there. Sorry I can't remember which camera it is.
Dana here is the link to the list of eagles born since 91 (I was close).

DEB 27° here now!!!----I'm FREEZING!! ho!
I can't get a good look at her wing.
Norma-keep the snow on your side of the mountain please. Rumor has it we are supposed to get 6 inches here on Saturday. Anybody else heard that?
HELEN -- Can you get DR. SHARPE?---Don't we need extra "STUFF" to get on there now????
DANA Best I can tell they are not any of the eagles on the list
Did you learn a lot at the NBG meeting?
Yes, Norma, you need Neokast to see Dr. Sharpe. I will have to wait for a video to come out on the egg removal. #$@#$@#$
Eagle in nest at NBG.
Eagle in BC is moving around the nest.
Right now the two eggs at TH is alone. Eagle parent flew off. Maybe Dr. Sharpe is climbing up the cliffs.
DEB--If DR. SHARPE is going to exchange the eggs today---It is something to watch!!
ps---whoa!! he is cool!!
My cam at TH just said "stand by"
JILL---Stopped SNOWING!!---All blown away----seriously---it's too cold to melt---So it seems to blow away!!!---
The cam just moved around some. I am sure he is up there. We will be seeing him.
Yep he is up there fooling with the cam!!! ( :
There he is
I have to wait for a video of it, Norma. Neokast program isn't made for Mac computers.
He first takes a picture moving in to get the eggs stomping down rubber gloves takes two wooden eggs out put them in nest takes two real eggs puts in box
Now he moves off and sits himself some place to make sure the parents/parent comes back. To take care of the eggs he put in there.
Did I miss it or are you telling Deb what will happen?
DEB---I just goggled possum!!---The ones that I have seen---appeared to be larger & don't remember fur being that dark---could be--but I remember the fur as being much lighter!!---They certainly aren't as cute as these appear???---ho!
Eagle just flew partically into the picture. Waiting for it to come to eggs now.
Jill I am telling as happening.
NORMA- Possum's rank right up there with naked mole rats on the cuteness scale. All the time I lived in Grant County, I hardly saw possums, now here in Downtown Martinsburg, I probably see one a night when I am out working. And Zachary is scared to death of them

Beautiful fly by of parent still waiting for eagle parent to land and go to eggs. Just landed
She #82 Dia is still sitting away from the 2 eggs in egg cup. She keeps looking at them. Like "ok I am satificed both are still here". Well she flew off.. She will be back. I'm sure of that. She has accepted "fake eggs" for years now.

Back on the eggs like nothing happened.
Another Dr. Sharpe success !!
Would someone please explain the artifcial eggs. Will they replace the real eggs later?
Hi, I see the female is back on the "eggs" at TH. Isn't that a faster return than usual??
At Norfolk both eagles are on the same branch, side by side, and you can just see the backs of their heads through the pine needles.
[:~)]
Jim
Yes Dr. Sharpe will climb back up and put the chicks back into the nest. I forget how old though.
OUR NEST is back up and working
Thanks!
Off to babysit with grandson.
Eagle at BC really working on something.
Oh, and good afternoon to all :-)
I think it is 2-3 weeks after hatching.
JIM She is probably used to it by now.
Hi Karen nice seeing you again ( :
I love the SR cam you can hear them talking lowly to each other. Both parents are in nest with egg. It does get static and pic goes. It does come back....well worth the watch !!

Last season K34 F and K25 M had to chicks that hatched on their own K 02 K 77.
So I guess Dr. Sharpe won't be taking any eggs from this pair.
Hi Carol good to see you again lady ( :
Eggs at TH being turned just fine. Mommie has no idea ( : wiggling again down into egg cup to care for her 2 eggs (fake).
Carol that was so funny of a story. I am laughing so hard.
Also of interest, the Seal Rocks male (K25) was rescued this past Spring from drowning by a fisherman. He had gotten himself tangled in fishing line and was struggling in the water. Hi Danelle,
Prayers going up for you dear, hope you stress level goes way down!!! Good idea going to the gym.
Dana, I sure hope your back is feeling a lot better today...It's good to see you here!
Missed the excitement at TH, darn,
will have to look for a video later.
Eagle at BC is settling onto the egg cup. I want to see an egg laid in the daylight. she has eaten, practiced incubating and it is time to lay an egg!! (I hope)

We can all watch the video when it comes out! It won't be the same as live, but better than nothing.
Two Harbors Egg Switch
Video by Pat/Cumbrian at IWS forum
The chicks will be returned to the nest when they are about 1 week old.
well all, time for me to hit the gym. I can't express how much I appreciated your prayers today. It made my day just knowing you all were praying for me.
Have a good evening, and I'll see ya'll tomorrow.

Here is the video, but it is PINK!
Egg Switch
Thanks, Paula:):) just love a man with a fanny pack and jungle hat!!
thanks you too, Deb.
I see Paula beat me, it takes me awhile to figure out the link thing, oh well, as Jo said, two is better.
Thanks PAULA and DEB for the egg switch video. The pinkness reminded me of an old Star Trek episode when they got beamed down to another planet.
guess we are looking at that site thru rose-colored glasses
turkeys at PA
Are you watching the BC nest, could this be an egg laying coming up??
watching now Deb..
She has her wings spread out, oops, she moved.
Both eagles in Maine.
she sure looks like she is trying to drop something, Deb
Did she roll an egg? Wasn't that too fast for egg laying?
Darn snow in the nest, I could just see something white. Easily could have been snow.
I'm thinking it is snow
Me, too. I sure it was just wishful hoping on my part.
I'm sure, not I sure, Where did I learn grammar?
Both eagles, our nest.
I don't know, but that sure looks like an egg roll to me at BC. Wouldn't the snow be melting. Both eagles gone from Maine.
WAS FOOD BROUGHT IN ARE ARE THEY EATING LEFTOVERS???
Deb BC (Bartons Cove) gives you 10 minutes of live feed. Are you just refreshing after that?
Mits to me it look like food was brought in.
Both eagles at NBG just flew off limb. Camera man did not follow them.
Dana, I have a live feed that has been open for 2 1/2 hours now.
Both eagles at NBG one in nest one on limb
my live feed only stays up fo 10 mins.
I think they were eating leftovers, nothing new in nest and some of the stuff that was there is gone.
I still do not see an egg at BC
Deb are you viewing it through Fist Light? Or did you put an http into wmp?
I agree with that Mits about leftovers. I do think gal you are right! ( :
lol...Dana, would probably be the 1st time:)
bbl company just came
I watch it in Quick Time Player and it stays open. My computer just does it automatically when I hit the link on the web page. First a white box comes up and then Quick Time opens.
man our eagle is fast asleep
if she is going to lay an egg, she better move her butt around to a dryer area.
Oh, yes, the Good Dr S still looks might fine in Pink :)
Eagle still eating at BWO
Now she is asleep at BC, would she do that before she lays the egg?
might be taking a power nap
Maybe she is planning on spending the night in the nest, Deb
Can you tell I want an egg to be there?? Have to feed the dogs, bbl.
Where might I find the pink Dr. S? Can't seem to find the video.
JIll, see if this link works- egg switch
The cam is stuck on 5:22 for me. Is it for anyone else?
Worked great Megan Thanks.
Mine is too Deb.
Yep, I can't even get the %#@&*# page open...
It looks like my picture just went to normal, correct time and date on it.
Around here, so far I have only seen them in my dreams! Better than nothing though!
Oh, zazwh!!! my cam pic is back also.
back for awhile
Deb what link does quick time show for BC?
Dana, on the top of the Quick Time Player it says
eagleslive_100.asx
I don't know it that will help you or not, different computer systems could be the reason I get a live feed.
Dana, here is the full link, I found it on the Maine Forum.
http://www.neenergyinc.com/eagles/live/eagleslive_100.asx
our eagle is awake and turning eggs...sleepy head
back to sleep
Thanks anyhow Deb couldn't get it up.
This is the new link for Barton's Cove
http://eagles.firstlightpower.com/
eagles/live/eagleslive_100.asx
Cam doesn't appear to be on at the moment
Well, it is on but it's black
Thanks Paula I'll try it tomorrow I think that one just might work.
It does, Dana. You can put it directly into WMP
That is where I tried it and it is black. Although I think tomorrow it will work Paula.
GOOD NIGHT ONE AND ALL
You may wish to check out the cam lists at WildWatch - They have revised their cams.

Go to their discussin forum. Dr. Sharpe, our Paula and some others discussed it there. I gave you the brief version.

Try this link see if it gets you to the discussion
OK, Jill & whoever is interested, here's a link to a series of questions and answers on the IWS site. Read them all to learn why only the WE and TH nests will be incubating woodies this year. Also, there's a glimpse at next year.

Thanks Jim. Haven't gotten the tiny url down yet.
I have finished my son financial aid app and both his fed and state income taxes. YOu would think I would be tired but I am wide awake. Now what.

Jim
I am a magistrate for the city. We work 24 hour shift 3-6 days at a time
I don't have your email, I don't think, does Jo have it? If so, I can get it from her
Our cam is working again..
Jim
Jill, are you still with us?
Jim, I think I just sent you an email. Name and place looked right, either that or some poor guy is getting a very strange email.
Yes, Jill, Jo or Mits would have it.
A Magistrate ... like a Justice of the Peace. I know I've seen them working on TV or something, but I don't recall exactly. Think I've heard of Police Magistrates too.
Jim
Similar. We read rights, explain charges and set bonds.
I haven't gotten one on AOL, but maybe on momsters.
We are getting close to the second split in the comments...every 200
Jim
hummm, it didn't give me the part after @ so I dont' know where it went. I was the one listed on momsters.
If I don't see anything when I get up later, I will ask Jo or Paula to send it to me.
I am going to try to sleep, don't think it will work but I can try.
Oh dear, I just went back and checked your profile. Saw the city you live in. Reminded me of a Jeff Dunham clip I saw the other day. I will have to look for it and send it to you. Concerns the pronounciation of Santa Ana.
Did it start with "eagle"?
I'm in Momsters now, maybe I can just send it to you in there..
