You know, when I was in highschool, I used to get those icing containers and eat the icing right out of the container. That just how much I love icing! :) Of course, I don't do that anymore.
Thanks for the dates, Iris & Sharon. Wow - that's in about 2 weeks!!!! Did you all realize that Daylight Savings Time starts on March 9th? I like chocolate cake with orange icing. I also like to put chocolate syrup on sherbert - especially orange or raspberry. Is that weird or what?
Jill - that's my rationale - but a lot of people thinks it's weird. Next time the momsters get together, maybe we should all bring our favorite cake. Once my boss had a birthday party for himself. It was a pot-luck dessert party. Everyone brought a dessert. It was fun, but a little sickening!
Outback has a delicious choc. cake with choc. icing (it is too big for one person) and they serve it with raspberry over it. It is great. So Carol I don't think you are weird. Guess Outback doesn't either lol
Dana, Joey used to get the chocolate cake from Outback when he got a good report card. And he would eat the whole thing. I would have been sick for days. But it is good. So is the cheesecake at Applebee's with raspberry sauce over it.
Ed got a piece one time all for himself took him 2 days to eat it. Since he got one so did I. Took me 2 days and the 3/4 left I gave to him. That's why that cake at Outback for us is a share it cake lol
I got cake at Buffalo Wild Wings for my birthday. The first part was good, then it went down hill. Way too much chocolate. I was sick most of the night. (I know I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing) LOL
Danelle, Sharon and Geula and anyone else that has birthday early March. I will prodict (praying here) a hatching at our nest sometime in early March hee hee
OMG- Carol- I love chocolate sauce on orange sherbert...great minds think alike- and any cake I bake is going to probably be chocolate, birthday people. Oh, now I am soo hungry....
Outta here - hopefully I'll make it up here tomorrow. Just ready forcast for here and they have downgraded our possible amount of ice. Hope they are right! Keep those eggs warm, Belle!
Well everyone, it's time for me to hit the road home---and eat some cake! :) Will probably in to work late tomorrow with all the ice we are supposed to get. See ya'll tomororw! :)
Just checking in - Guess I will sit down and eat my spaghetti while thinking about CAKE!
DIL & grandson joining us for dinner. Be back later this evening.
Oh yes - I was able to see my granddaughter Christine & grandson Patrick in Germany with web cam. That was so cool. It was late & great granddaughter already in bed.
Helen, sounds like you are getting your appetite back. If I lived closer to you, I would bake you a Rum Nut cake, it is delicious and makes you feel good too!
Oh, that's cool Jo! Glad you can see them now:) Gotta love these computers, what did we ever do without them? What's the TH cam, not that I need another to look at. I'm glad to see Mits here, too. I'll know she's really much better when I start seeing her weather forecasts again:)
Very Good, Jill. After the cake is done baking and cool, you spoon rum sauce over the top and sides and what lands on the plate, you get to eat. LOL That is why it makes you feel good.
A STORM MOVING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST WILL BRING PRECIPITATION INTO THE COLD AIR ALREADY IN PLACE OVER THE REGION. THE RESULT WILL BE LIGHT SNOW OVERNIGHT...FOLLOWED BY FREEZING RAIN FRIDAY INTO FRIDAY NIGHT.
SNOW WILL BEGIN DURING THE LATE EVENING HOURS TONIGHT... LIKELY CLOSE TO 11 PM. ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT. THE SNOW WILL CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN FRIDAY MORNING.
FREEZING RAIN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY ON FRIDAY AND INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. SUBSTANTIAL ICING...AROUND A THIRD OF AN INCH... IS EXPECTED. THIS WILL LIKELY CAUSE SUBSTANTIAL TRAVEL PROBLEMS AND POWER OUTAGES. STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS THROUGH THIS EVENT.

Just went on a search of the house for kerosene. Took me 15 minutes to find it in our tiny little garage. Course it was supposed to be in the basement. I have candles ready, now I just have to find a lighter to light them with. bbl
WHOA!!!----ARE YOU CAKE EATERS---the same group that "poo-hoed" me when I told you that I couldn't get my sweats on----BECAUSE I EAT ALL THE TIME I'M ON THE PUTER!!----SNOWING HERE & NO CAKE!!----what will i do?----can we email cake?
Don't worry Norma, when we outgrow our sweats we will pass them down to you. LOL And all I said was you should leave the snacks in the kitchen so you get some excercise going to get them. LOL. Is it snowing there yet? We have a light dusting on the cars and sidewalks. Snowing hard and real fine.
JILL----I don't remember ever eating cake icing out of a can!!!---But used to fight over bowl when MOTHER baked cakes!!!---She made GOOD LICKIN' ICING!
Norma, they didn't have cake icing in a can when you were a kid. LOL And besides that homemade icing is always better. When did they start making icing in a can? I remember it as a teen but not a kid, mom always made the icing. HUMMMM
Duncan Hines came into being around 1950 so I guess that is when we got icing in a can, unless Betty Crocker had it before, I couldn't find anything on that.
South Mountain can do strange things! Would I be so lucky to stay Dry in the Valley!!! Strongly doubt it.. Believe me I am not anxious for it to start - The Later the Better!!
Nilla was closing up shop - said she is having problems with computer at home - They did go to BlackWater the other day and saw eagles & had a great time. She said stay in and stay safe! I just hope she can do the same!
I am back from my raptor program in Sioux Falls, it was really great. I know you will think that I am nuts after reading your discussion, but I hate frosting. I don't mind the cake if it isn't too sweet.
No, no pic of it... but the eggs were completely uncovered, and the bird that was in the nest was near the edge, hunkered down. I remember that last year's clutch got cold and wet, and they abandoned the nest after that. I hope we don't have a second year with no chicks!
and about the frosting -- I LOVE LOVE LOVE Buttercream frosting! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! it's my favorite part of cake!
i hope that all you get is snow, I would rather deal with snow than ice any day.
There were 5 birds at the program, a red-tailed hawk, a screech owl, a gyr falcon, a black vulture and, of course, a bald eagle. The eagle's name was Wowicaki, which means justice in Lakota. I thought that was something after our discussion earlier today. I will look at my pictures tomorrow, I am tired tonight.
Delphia - Just looked at your pic on flicker. The eagle is on the egg cup - I think you are seeing the night light which is in the center of the nest! The egg cup is at the edge of the nest between 12 & 2:00
Mercy, it is really coming down now the way it looks...Belle is tenting big time and has gotten covered so quickly in the last 10 minutes. Bless her heart!
Who knows how much of this they will have to put up with throughout today - it is already Friday.
One of the problems we had last year though was not only lots of snow, but a very quick melt...that melt I think was the last straw as far as keeping the eggs warm and dry. Well, there won't be a melt here for a while.
Boy, I've been trying to check out the intruder thing at the Maine nest...finally found the right blog...by accident.
Some say there have been attacks by male and female; one at least thinks it's been all between females; and some are leaning toward a male intruder and Dad fighting for the nest with Mom watching and calling from a nearby nest.
I can't be 100% sure one of the attacks I saw on video was not a female thing, but I believe most of them I saw over the last two days of action were between Dad and a male intruder.
Anyhow, there has been intruder action on the Maine territory again...must be really prime real estate. And now my eyes and brain are tired from trying to sift through the comments, etc. [(~:]
Couldn't resist looking in on our nest.. doesn't look as bad as what it could be.. No precipitation here right now.. Really tenting and keeping those eggs nice & dry...
Did anyone see in the news -- grey wolves have been taken off the endangered species list... I think it's great that they're doing that well, but I'm afraid that will just make some people think it's ok to shoot them even more now :(
An early good morning to JO and BIRD GIRL. I think I was thinking the same thing; wanting to see how our nest was faring with the horrible weather that is predicted. Our poor eagle parents are sure having a time of it this year. May the Lord bless them and their eggs and get them through this.
Doesn't look like SUZANNE made it in today so it is up to you WANDA, SHARON or whoever gets on early. I can't seem to get into the blog from school anymore.
I am up in the middle of the night, and I thought I would look in to see how it's going.
I can't tell if it's Liberty in the nest, or if the snow makes Belle look smaller. In either case they are managing to keep the snow back from the egg cup a safe distance. All appears on a safe path at the moment.
I'm spacing it as I write, so back to bed for me. [:~)]

I'm lost, what's the wax thing about?
Danelle, I had a spoonful of icing just yesterday, right out of the can! :)
I used to do that too. Come to think of it, I have two cans in the basement. Guess if the storm gets bad enough, I will just have to eat it.
Sounds good Jill and Sharon! :)
My aunt used to make a lemon cake with lemon icing drizzled over it. It was one from a box but then they quit making it. I loved that cake.
No Carol that isn't weird. Chocolate covered fruit is good, so why not sherbet in fruit flavors.
I like the cake idea! :) Sounds yummy to me. :)

Weather Channel says it is snowing in Martinsburg. My eyes say it isn't. I just walked outside and didn't see a thing. Must be getting close tho.
Okay in less that 10 minutes, it started snowing and my car has a light layer of snow on the windshield. Snowing really fine now, can hardly see it.
I swear it seems like it is too cold for Spidey to be so busy.
Just starting to snow here, real little flakes. On the radar it looks like it's probably doing the same in Shepherdstown.
Radar says it should be snowing here alsoo.....gonna go check..
I see spidey's web on the upper left tonight
Spidey is moving to keep warm. My car, the sidewalk and road are covered now. Still snowing, tiny little flakes and coming down pretty good.
Nope not yet....hasn't saturated the air yet...

Got it Jill - Thanks!
Glad we heard from Nilla. I know we have been thinking about her.
Looks as though our Eagle is now tenting..... Guess Shepherdstown is
starting with the precipitation.
It is still dry here in the valley.
Patience Jo it will get to you soon enough. Still coming down really fine. Sure Belle is getting it by now.
Been snowing here and at the nest fot a while, jo. Luckily so far it's just a light snow :)
Good thoughts for BELLE & LIBERTY tonight and tomorrow!---Forecast snow--sleet & freezing rain, etc. tonight and tomorrow!!---
OMG IT'S BIRD GIRL!!!

I happened to peek in and notice that no one is on the eggs -- only one eagle, sitting on the side of the nest??
Did you get a pic of it, Delphia?

I am back from my raptor program in Sioux Falls, it was really great. I know you will think that I am nuts after reading your discussion, but I hate frosting. I don't mind the cake if it isn't too sweet.
No, no pic of it... but the eggs were completely uncovered, and the bird that was in the nest was near the edge, hunkered down. I remember that last year's clutch got cold and wet, and they abandoned the nest after that. I hope we don't have a second year with no chicks!

that sounds like the storm that beat the heck out of my town! we had one helluva thunderstorm night before last, I thought for sure my street got hit by lightening (no, it didn't) and my animals were completely wound up.
