PM picture, off the egg for a moment.

More info from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center:

Bald eagles usually lay two eggs, and both eaglets usually survive into adolescence. They help to keep the nest hygienic as they grow older by defecating over the rim. The central hollow that the adults created by wriggling their bodies from side to side begins to fill up with prey remains, pellets ejected by the young, and with green sprigs brought more or less constantly to the nest site by the adults. Some researchers theorized that the greenery, some of which contains natural insecticides, may help keep the nest free of insect pests. I also think the adults are strongly attracted to greenery as part of their nesting/breeding cycle, and have a strong need to handle them during this period. The adult birds may also snap off twigs from the top of the nest tree in order to get a better view of their surroundings.

I guess I have been visited by the Sandman, can't keep my eyes open.
If Lib and Belle don't come to sit on the egg, if it is still there, it won't freeze. It is not suppose to get any colder than it is right now.

Glad you sis is doing okay Nilla. Not sure what is going on with the nest. I have watched it refresh over and over and the only differences I see are camera lines. Some think it is stuck and looping others say it is changing, I can't tell for sure. But remember last night, they were off the egg until midnight, even tho we could see them.

paula eagleholic said...

VA eagle still looks like it is standing up

Jill said...

I agree with Jo. I just can't see much of a difference in the pics except camera lines.

Mema Jo said...

Glad you're home Nilla.

Good Night Everyone
Peace to you & yours

Never been to that one. Everytime Brad gets hurt at work they send him to a different one. I can get to pretty much anywhere in Baltimore from St. Agnes. LOL. Got lost the other day and ended up at Bayview, then found my way where I needed to go. And if you followed mapquest heaven help you.

Signing off for tonight...I have faith...

Jill said...

I think BW is stuck now. Time says 22:10 and bird hasn't moved in a long while. What is going on with the cameras?????????

NillaWafer said...

Jill that hospitol is top notch for Ortho.. google it and take alook her doctor is Dr Bennet... They have a huge rehab center also...

Mema Jo said...

JILL Had to come back to tell you
that the BW cam goes down from 11pm to 3am.... every night

TTUT

Jill said...

Didn't know that. Thanks Jo. I think Belle is disabling our cam so she can lay her egg in private. LOL

Jill said...

Tis Midnight, no change.

movin said...

I've been watching the cam for a while, and I will have to agree with those who think it is frozen.

First time I've noted the 'eagle spirits' watching over the nest this year though.

Well, at least we don't have to worry about Liberty or Belle having gone berserk and abandoning their eggs.

{:?D}

GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY...

Good morning to the early crew ... good luck sighting the eagles until the cam is fixed.

You think this melodramatic stuff with the cam happens just to keep our interest up???

Geula said...

Hi all! I'm going to cuop (catch up on posts)...sleep tight!

Geula said...

This is NOT a way to start my day!

I realize that the cam isn't refreshing the picture (I hope) but I see an empty nest with no egg in it...HELP!

I guess I'll just have to wait another few hours to see it in daylight!

Be still, my heart! (but not too still)

Gee, I just got a tension headache...better take a tranquilizer......LOL!

Jill said...

Guela, we think Belle covered the egg then flew away. Sometime after that the camera started to loop. (We hope). Some seem to think it was refreshing but I can't tell it, if it is. It is fairly warm at the nest and no rain. I just came in from work and it is fairly decent outside, I live about 10 miles from the nest. Now I am going to get some sleep, you will probably know before me when the camera comes back up.

Geula said...

How silly of me! I'm at work and I thought that if I was here, on a different computer, then everything would be okay......an eagle would be sitting in the nest!

PHOOEY! that didn't happen!

Suzanne said...

Morning, world! Morning, Geula! Have to go back and see what happened, no eagle in the nest, and I do not see an egg! Maybe because of theIR lighting, but what's going on? Darn! Will have to go read back.
Very warm out tonight, but very foggy in places. 49° in PA, but 58° here in VA at this hour! Unreal for Feb. But guess this is the last day, supposed to get down to the teens by and during the weekend. That's a big UGH!
Ok, need to go see how Helen's doing, and what's going on with our nest. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Geula said...

I've got everybody here at work concerned about the eagles! and at least I'm not alone in my worries! ::SIGH::

movin said...

GOOD MORNING, SUZANNE, GEULA, JILL... [:~D]

The camera froze up (time changes, picture doesn't) at a fairly warm time when no parent was in the nest.

I'm about to go to bed, so don't be surprised if I disappear.

Jim

NillaWafer said...

Just woke up and checking nest its 4:40 am and nothing has changed no eagle in the nest no egg!! God i hope the cam is stuck or that egg is buried deep... Ok back to bed... Hi Suz and Geula...

NillaWafer said...

Morning Jim and Niters Jim sleep well Jim... I pray with the morning light it brings good news!!!

movin said...

I'm sitting here yawning my head off... going to give it the ole college try...

Good night, all.

Jim

Suzanne said...

Morning, Geula, Jim, and Nilla! Was not paying attention, trying to read back to see what happened to our eagles. Some say a loop, some say frozen, don't know. Do know the "horsie" shadow changes very slightly on refreshes, but guess we'll have to wait until daylight to see for sure. Not sure if the change is going through a loop or not. Time is 6 minutes slow now, it was only 2 a couple days ago.
We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon, but it was over quickly, and only fog this morning, so decent weather. Hope we get a 2nd egg before the weekend, gonna be a cold one.

Jim, sorry I missed you. Hope you sleep well, and maybe I'll talk to you before I leave today.

Nilla, how's your sister?

Suzanne said...

See where Steven made a comment about lots of traffic. According to the counter on this blog, we had 864 visitors yesterday! Keeps going up, and we only have 1 egg so far!!! (Let's hope!) Can you imagine how many hits we're gonna get when the egg(s) start hatching? Then fledging time? We're gonna be off the charts! Steven, we're gonna get the #1 spot on Beakspeak and camp out and just stay there! Hope you guys can handle lots of traffic!

Suzanne said...

Guess everybody went back to bed or work. So I can sing as loud as I want!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SANDRA
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!

AND I HOPE YOU ARE COMING HOME FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!! That will be such a wonderful present for you.
I hope your day goes absolutely great for you!!!

Good to have you BACK!!!

Suzanne said...

I see where Norfolk got their second egg! Congratulations NBG!!! Awesome pics on their under second egg, if you get a chance, you can watch her lay it, and hubby come and look at his newly hatched egg. Wonderful pics! Laid 4 Feb 0503ish. Right now the nest or cam are really blowing in the wind. Think I can see a white head, but wouldn't swear to that!
No change in our cam. If we get 800plus hits on the blog, wonder how many hits they're getting on the cam? Has to be astronomical!

Suzanne said...

Tai is awake, laying on his back leaning against rocks and eating bamboo. Oh, Either Mr or Mrs Owl was off the eggs, Jo, remind me, I got a pic of the two eggs, I'll email it to you. And I think that's the male on the eggs in BW. Saw where Lisa said this may be a different male. I was thinking that the other day, have not seen him bring in food once. Remember last year ALL the food that was in that nest? Guess we'll never know, maybe he's getting lazy in his old age.

BBIALW...

Suzanne said...

Egg turning at BW. Our cam remains the same. Tai is still eating bamboo, he's just moved over a little bit. Maine MT, Norfolk still blowing, and Norma, there is a forklift in with the donkeys. They are investigating it!

Suzanne said...

Deer with hurt legs on PA cam.

Suzanne said...

Oh, another one behind her, didn't see that one at first.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good morning Suz. Hopefully when daylight starts, the pic will remain the same. Can't imagine why they would just abandon this nest.

Suzanne said...

Adult in Tesoro, and adult turning eggs in NBG.. and right back down. Pulling at sticks near him/her. Maine MT, but doesn't look like they got as much snow as I thought they did.

Suzanne said...

Wow, eagle just flew from one side of nest to the other in Tesoro, and now it's feeding time. Both those chicks popped right up when they realized they had food. Can see the other one flying around, I think. See wing shadows!
Norfolk turning eggs again. Man that nest is really blowing!
Eagle at BWO.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SUZ AND SHARON ...
It has just broken daylight here and nest remains the same (infrared light). So, it is MHO that the cam is frozen.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Sharon! Neither can I. I just took a pic, gonna compare it to the one I took this morning shortly after 4. I sure hope they didn't abandon it!

Costume Lady said...

OH, YESS!!!

Costume Lady said...

OK I stand corrected about the frozen cam! Now, what?

Suzanne said...

Should not have done that. Hate to say it, but it IS getting daylight at our nest. Can see a difference between pic from 4 (dark) and pic now (getting daylight). Not sure what's going on. Gonna send the pics to Steven, see what he thinks.

Costume Lady said...

It it Belle or Lib, Suz?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL, REFRESHING, MIND EASING SIGHT THAT IS!

Costume Lady said...

She is sitting on the egg. HOORAY!!

Costume Lady said...

SUUUUUUUZZZZZ. COME SEE!!!

Red said...

Well people I just checked the nest and Belle is there now sitting on the egg. Maybe the cam started working. I sure hope that was it.

Costume Lady said...

THANK YOU LORD...

Suzanne said...

EAGLE IN THE NEST!!!

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING RED, Long time no see!

Costume Lady said...

I don't get on the Chat Room much anymore. Miss everyone there.

Costume Lady said...

She is turning the egg, now back down to keeping it warm.

Suzanne said...

Wow, morning, all! I'm hoping the cam started working, cause it's much lighter than it was a few minutes ago. I took a pic and one from 4:16 this morning and sent them to Steven.

Think that's Belle, her body takes her tail out long enough that it doesn't get hit by the side of the egg.

Phew, BBIALW...

Costume Lady said...

Thank goodness she covered it before she went out on the town last night!

Costume Lady said...

I think they both had ONE LAST FLING. LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

My sister was watching and said she saw Belle fly in.
