GOOD MORNING EVEYONE Pick a forcast any forcast, there are several out there to choose from, it is so hard to predict 100% when you live in this area. But historically, we get our worse storms from the south, starting in the Gulf of Mexico, it brings up the energy and moisture, if it is cold snow, warm rain, you just have to wait and see...have a good one

Tesoro left food and flew off parent that was on chicks is still on chick/chicks.
One flew off at Maine the other on a branch you can see it.

Zoo was wonderful yesterday, the sloths, clouded leopards, fishing cat, small clawed otters, and pandas were all out....DANA, they usually have Mei and Tian out together early, but seperate them by afternoon, They let Tai visit his Mom yesterday, she was in the holding pen and he was right out side the gate, she barked and growled at him, and he just scented and watched her...he was funny to watch

Gao Gao is on the SD cam. Earlier the tree climber wasn't ZZ. Cause I pointed the pic out to someone yesterday and they said it wasn't her. I seen it again this morning but too big to be her up in the tree.
Our nest is changing I think it is slowly getting snow.
That male #10 at SC PH is sure a "hard working man"..been bringing in sticks and moving them around. For a long time now.
Snow is turning our nest and BWE white.
They are working on Norfolk again today. It is up and down.
Weather is now forecasting for 3-6" & stopping early evening hour.
They sure are covering themselves with such a span between 3-6! lol
When our cam refreshes at the nest, you can see the snowflakes coming down!
Dana - perhaps it is Su Lin and they just have the wrong label on the pic at SD.
You're right about ButaButa not putting on any good shows for us, Norma! They say she is active in the early morning BUT then they should turn the cam on earlier for us to see!

snowing like a banshee here, Norma, got my wood in for fireplace, got my beef stew in the crock pot...guess I'm ready. Still hear planes taking off from Regan National, so it is not too bad yet, haven't seen any school closings near me yet, but sure it is just a matter of time, very pretty snow though

Paula my sister says it is because the glass lid has a metal ring around it. That it can't seal right on the crock.
That is why I was wondering how many of you have a glass lid with a metal ring around it?????? If you do and yours doesn't spit liquid out then it is just mine.
DANA, I have 2 crocks, a smaller one with a plastic top and my bigger one that I'm using today with a metal ring, have never ever had a problem with it.

MitsMine is a round Rival...but it won't seal so I have to put 2 paper towels around it to soak of the spitting of liquid it does. I am not filling the pot to full of water. 2 turkey thighs just covered by water. 5 1/2 quart.
Man if I would make a large pot of chilli in that would that ever be a mess.

I have one big crock pot (Rival) and one small (Proctor Silex). Both have glass lids that don't spatter. They both work well. I got the Proctor Silex because it has a keep warm setting that I like.
my round is a 5 and a half quart, think my big one is 7, I just set it and forget it, and I have made huge meals in it
my big Rival has a warm setting, goes right to it automatically, when dish is done
That would be nice. I have to turn mine to "Keep warm".
It is almost soup time for lunch!

DANA, part of the success in using crocks is you use very little liquid, if you are covering the turkey thighs with water, that might be the problem...does your recipe call for that much liquid?

I'm gonna make some chicken soup, but not today....already have something else planned for dinner...trying to cook some extra stuff for the college kid before he heads back to school on Sunday...

I got it ladies...I put the food in the crock pot, add the 1/4 cup liquid it calls for. Then I'll do a hillbilly thing. I'll duct tape the lid to the crock pot. That ought keep it from spitting liquid out. Of course it could turn into a UFO sighting if she blows lol
