Pretty soon, we won't see any of the nest if the snow keeps coming down. I am off to get some things done. Windchill warnings for tomorrow, so I don't want to go out if I don't have to.
We made it back from Winchester! I was afraid the doctor would be closed, but he was open for business and was very busy. The snow started just as we pulled into the hospital and by the time I got out there was about 2" on the ground. The roads were VERY bad on the way home...wrecked tractor trailer and so many cars, I lost count. We decided to go on Rt. 11 instead of I81. Felt safer. Doctor said everything looked OK but I had to have my Mammogram taken over...said my chin showed up in the xray. Now you know my chin is not even close to my mamms. I think the technician messed up. I don't think my chest will ever be the same. I feel like I have 2 planks sticking out in front of me. Thought about stopping by the video store to see what'a up with Nilla, but it was still snowing hard and we just wanted to get home.
OH,LOOK AT THE SNOW ON OUR NEST! It is beautiful, but I am glad we don't have any eggs yet. Wonder what Lib and Belle will do when they come for their afternoon visit.
My son lives in ME and thinks the area of the nest is in an area not accessible to the public. I just hear birds. Snowing here in NW PA, a deep freeze predicted for the weekend.
Forecast doesn't sound like our weekend is going to be great. Hope L&B just stay up on the branches or find a nice fir tree in which to nest. Glad you're home Wanda- Really glad you found your car under all that snow! Especially since you sometimes can't find it without any snow on it!!!! LOL I just had to brighten you day with good FUN memories!
grannyblt this is the first chance I have had to say Welcome! I am down in MD and of course by my name of Mema I am a granny also! How far up in NW PA are you? Glad you have joined in with us!
Mits I guess they mainly close the zoo due to cleaning off all the sidewalks. I see on Panda Cam 2 that he went inside - no snow play! Can you tell me what is with the back wall reflection or light flashing???
I see he is inside now, Jo....the back wall has a mural of mountains in China, not sure what the flashing is....not sure if we have a cam operator or if the keepers are turning the cams to where pandas are now, they have very little time when the are tending to the pandas...sounds like they are working on bringing the other 2 in now
I live about 80 miles north of Pittsburgh, so we get a little more snow than there, but not so close to Lake Erie that we get too much lake effect snow. We had some snow left from earlier that had melted somewhat yesterday but a little more today. It has stopped for now.
That eagle has been at the BWO for some time. I notice their eagle nest doesn't appear to have snow.
i THINK YOU ARE RIGHT SHARON,WE need to get down there with a snowblower. Oh, no, that won't work; might scare them away. I guess we will let Mother Nature do her thing.
A pair of bald eagles spend most of the day in the area around the nest at Fort St. Vrain Station and visit the nest nearly everyday between 8 and 10 a.m. Last year the eggs were laid in early March.
I copied this from the site. They will have a live cam also, not sure if they did last year or not.
Update on Sandra - I will post this on Momsters to send out
Jo, Sandra is making excellent progress and we(Sandy, her therapists, and me) are shooting for February 6th(her Birthday)for her release to home therapy. If she is not to a point where her therapists feel she is ready for release they will at least let her come home for the day. She wants to know what is happening with the eagles in Shepherdstown? You will have to reply to my email because she cannot access her mail from the hospital. Tom
I just read back some comment that I missed and Lo and Behold, SANDRA is doing so well she may be able to go home in a few weeks. THANK YOU JESUS! I sent her a card with a photo of the eagle with it's head bowed when we had the noon Power Prayer. I hope someone showed it to her.
Hey! I just opened Pete's Pond, and I saw some fish or something were breaking the surface of the water, catching insects. All of a sudden there was a big commotion right in the middle of the pond, and up pops Fatty the Crocodile's snout, and he heads for the far bank in the shallows.
It kind of looked like he had been dragging something whitish on the far side of his body, and when he got into the shallows, you could see a huge catfish (40-50 lbs.) in his jaws, flopping wildly. He caught it toward the tail end, so I don't know how long it will take to finish it off.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... It looks like Suz wisely decided to stay home. There are many Black Ice spots on the roads and it won't warm up enough to melt any of this mess til late this morning. We are at 31° right now and the high temp. today will be 40°.
Good morning, Wanda, Sharon. I'm glad you are up early...don't blame Suzanne for avoiding the driving in the ice and snow.
I'm just up for a short time. Took another look at Pete's Pond, where it's raining now, but I don't see any sign of Fatty the Crocodile right now. He didn't get all the catfish because of the turtles, but he must have downed more than 30 lbs. of it.
There are hundreds, maybe a thousand, Cattle Egrets on the shore of the Pond right now. They must be there for the insect feeds going on this time of year.
GOOD MORNING JIM, SHARON, AND WANDA!, Just came into work and pulled up the nest and was greatly surprised to find the two in their nest. Probably wondering where they go from here. ;)
Never thought I'd see them this morning. My heart hurts for them after all that work to have it snowed over. Hopefully the sun will come out and quickly dry it up.
WANDA I told them at school yesterday that I was going home and get on the blog to tell you all that we had 90' weather and I was sunbathing at the beach! :):):) NOT It just rained here, no snow.
I'm glad that you and Sharon are on the job. I'll have off thru Tuesday of next week. Break for High School between semesters. Soooo, maybe I'll be able to get in on some of the action.
The snow stayed west of us in the state. Us being by the water, makes snow flakes few and far between down here. Once an a blue moon, we get a covering. One Christmas break way back the snow was a good one, and the drifts soo deep, they weren equipted to handle it then. I think they are a little more streetwise now.

Our poor bunch need the snow plow!
Cambridge sure isn't getting much of this winter snow weather......
Our nest is beginning to look like the Oregon nest! Sorta hope we don't get an afternoon visit.... Going to be some pretty cold talons if we do!!
WEATHER FOR CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND...
This Afternoon
Rain. Highs in the upper 30s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
Just a couple of wing flaps by Lib & Belle and the snow will be history. We have about 5" here....Still snowing but gently.
I'm glad to see our Weather Girl is back. Thank you Vury Much.
Eagle at BWO
Well, I believe the snow is going to cover the camera lens!
i THINK YOU ARE RIGHT SHARON,WE need to get down there with a snowblower. Oh, no, that won't work; might scare them away. I guess we will let Mother Nature do her thing.

Too bad the snow froze to the lens.
POOF LIB
POOF BELLE
Think Lib left, can't see him anyway.
Both gone now.
I guess a frozen nest is not to either one's liking.
The Colorado cam at Ft. St. Vrain is back up. Looks like it updates every 2 minutes.

I don't think it was a live feed last year, Deb.....our nest looks spooky right now, snow must be covering the night light
I didn't think of that, it looks so dark, I bet you are right.

of our eagles.
10 is gone.
wonderful news about Sandra...
sun is shining in Oregon
Our injured deer is sure staying around awhile tonight.
something is off cam at PH, but making a lot of rustling noises.
Wouldn't it be nice to control the camera, so we could see what it was??
I just read back some comment that I missed and Lo and Behold, SANDRA is doing so well she may be able to go home in a few weeks. THANK YOU JESUS!
I sent her a card with a photo of the eagle with it's head bowed when we had the noon Power Prayer. I hope someone showed it to her.
Well, I am going to turn in early tonight. I have to say that our pic is the strangest looking thing I have ever seen.
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur.

[:=)
Jim
Just looked again, and Fatty has dragged it up onto the bank, so it will be ready to eat sooner.
Jim
For some reason, Fatty has dragged it back in the water, where it is thrashing around, perhaps Fatty is trying to snap it's spine.
Anyway, here come a flotilla of turtles to get their share, drawn by all the thrashing.
Jim
In the shallows again, and at least two LARGE turtles are right up by the croc's snout trying to rip some big bites for themselves...
Jim
Now, four turtles, and if Fatty doesn't wake up, he's not going to have much catfish for breakfast.
Jim
WELL, GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE/GOOD MORNING TO FRIDAY AND THE EARLY CREW.
I hope Suzanne makes it in through the snow....
Jim
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It looks like Suz wisely decided to stay home. There are many Black Ice spots on the roads and it won't warm up enough to melt any of this mess til late this morning.
We are at 31° right now and the high temp. today will be 40°.
Good morning, Wanda. Glad Suz didn't try to make it in the snow.
Our nest sure looks strange, huh?
GOOD MORNING SHARON...
I'm glad Suz has a job where they understand what "Bad Roads" mean.
We got about 5" of snow here. JMHO.
Schools are all closed in nearby counties.
Going to turn the heat up and the coffee pot on. BBIALW
Good morning, Wanda, Sharon. I'm glad you are up early...don't blame Suzanne for avoiding the driving in the ice and snow.

Have a great day, all.

EAGLE ALERT - OUR NEST!
I don't think they can do much in the way of nestorations this morning. Way too much snow. Can hardly even see them in the nest.
They are sitting at the 1-2 o'clock position on the edge, looks like they are just looking around.
Looks like Belle is moving a stick around.
I see one of them at least. I sure didn't expect them to show up this morning.
Jim
Good morning Jim. They are both in there this morning but it is hard to see.
Is there more snow due?
Jim
I don't think there is more snow due but you just never know.
I may have just seen some hanky panky in the snow.
Wow, don't they look cold? My coffee break was too long; I almost missed this visit.
We aren't expecting any more snow today.
GOOD MORNING JIM.
EAGLES IN OUR SNOW COVERED NEST!
GOOD MORNING JIM, SHARON, AND WANDA!, Just came into work and pulled up the nest and was greatly surprised to find the two in their nest. Probably wondering where they go from here. ;)
I missed that Sharon, hope you got some pics.
Never thought I'd see them this morning. My heart hurts for them after all that work to have it snowed over. Hopefully the sun will come out and quickly dry it up.
They had better keep moving or stomping their feed or they will freeze fast! :)
And to think that this was the weekend that I wanted to trip up to Josh's. Posponed.
I saw where we had good news about SANDRA yesterday from JO. God keep blessing her and giving her the strength to keep truckin.
AND I saw someone's crock pot lit, UFO flying past my house down here yesterday. :) I hope their dinner turned out ok last night. :):)
GOOD MORNING CANDY...
Did you get any snow?
You can tell Lib & Belle are not happy campers!
Bye Bye!
Hope SUZANNE made it home yesterday afternoon. Poof, both gone?
Hope SUZANNE made it home ok yesterday. Saw where she got to leave a little earlier than usual. I see she didn't come in today.
Poof, both gone. or is Belle hiding under the snow?
They will be back when the snow melts later today. PROMISE!
WANDA I told them at school yesterday that I was going home and get on the blog to tell you all that we had 90' weather and I was sunbathing at the beach! :):):) NOT It just rained here, no snow.
I think the fact that they're stomping around in it helps it to melt faster ... recalling last year.
It only got down to around 40° here, but now that strong wind is blowing in again ... I can hear some largish gusts blowing through now.
Jim
I'm glad that you and Sharon are on the job. I'll have off thru Tuesday of next week. Break for High School between semesters. Soooo, maybe I'll be able to get in on some of the action.
I agree JIM. All that stomping and the body heat from the passionate feelings, has got to help the snow to melt faster. :):)
Morning, Candy.
Jim
