Monday PM

You know, I grew up skiing and sledding. I love winter and snow. The weather today is ridiculous, 70 degrees. I went up to Mercersburg to drop my daughter off at school and you could see the snow melting at Whitetail from miles away...

The eagles love it though...

`Thanks Steve for the new thread. The eagles waited for me to get home so I could still look at them.

It is 65 degrees here in Nature's Air Conditioned City! Unbelievable. No wonder I had to turn the heat off earlier.

carolinabeachmom said...

SHARON I just looked and we only have 67 here, so you are almost as warm as we here at the Outer Banks.

I can't believe that Liberty and Belle are still in their nest. They must be bonding or just enjoying the warm sunshine on their bodies.

Costume Lady said...

How long have they been there?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, it seems to me that there visits are getting more often and longer!! Makes me a very happy woman!

carolinabeachmom said...

WANDA I think someone said since 2:44pm. They have just been sitting there enjoying each other and being together.

carolinabeachmom said...

I'm with you SHARON. I just wish I could retire so I could watch all the time.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The first picture I snapped of this visit was 2:43.

Costume Lady said...

It is 69° here right now. This blog is really acting up. It is printing words all over the place and not where I want them....I have never had this to happen before. Ok they seem to be bouncing back where they belong.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Excuse me - that was 2:38.

Costume Lady said...

2:43 and they have been here all this time? Looks like they are just about ready to take up residency.

Costume Lady said...

Is this the first year there is night vision?

carolinabeachmom said...

I just think that they are both happy that their home is fixed up again with alot of hard work. Now they want to just enjoy it. :)

carolinabeachmom said...

WANDA Yes this is the first year that we have had lights on the nest. It will be so cool to be able to watch them anytime; day or night.

carolinabeachmom said...

WANDA Sharon said that they have been there since 2:38. The first pic she took was 2:43. They have been there for quite awhile.

carolinabeachmom said...

Oh oh, there went Belle, Will Liberty follow?

carolinabeachmom said...

Looks like he is ready for take off....

I was checking the live feed (got an immediate "can't find the server" or similar), and I found the new thread on the way back to the blog.

From the other thread:

"Any word on the live feed or sound for this season??"

They would be even more beautiful in full motion and with sound.

60's and 70's would sure be nice. We are 39 here, but we will take anything over freezing this winter. We have been spoiled the last 3-4 winters with warmer than usual temps, this year is back to more normal winter weather.

Costume Lady said...

Nice visit.

carolinabeachmom said...

Liberty gone too. That was some visit! Wonder if they will be back after they have supper?

carolinabeachmom said...

EAGLE BACK!!

movin said...

Looks like Liberty has returned.

TWO EAGLES IN BWO NEST NOW. I would love to know if it is the same two birds that come to the BWE nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, they do. One still in the nest...

That fluff looks a wee bit trampled on. I think they need some more.

paula eagleholic said...

Candy and Wanda - Yes, we had night vision last year and the year before.

paula eagleholic said...

Eagle at BWE

Candy - sometimes it is the same pair from BWO

deb said...

You can see a head at CC2.

carolinabeachmom said...

PAULA We had a light on our nest last year? You are right, I had forgotten. How could I forget seeing spidey in front of the cam after dark.

paula eagleholic said...

It's showing up good now, isn't it Deb. (CC2)

deb said...

Yes, it is. I wonder when the eggs will hatch there?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I thought we had night vision camera last year and then they installed a light this year.

deb said...

Deer at PA cam.

deb said...

That was quick, but where there is one, there are usually more. :)

paula eagleholic said...

No Sharon, there is no actual light on the nest. Night vision is infrared light.

deb said...

Gone!

deb said...

Eating at BWO.

carolinabeachmom said...

Well now that I have mixed everyone up about a light or no light, night vision or no night vision, and whereas the eagles have fled, I guess I had better see what is for dinner. :)

Since it is such a nice day, I am doing away with the snowman and putting our beautiful couple as my pic now. :):):)

paula eagleholic said...

Deb - I think expected hatching at CC2 is the same as Tesoro - Jan 9.

Mema Jo said...

Lisa at BW has placed Fantastic eagle pictures from Homer Alaska on the web page.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the note, Jo.

Hope everyone had a great evening!

Good Morning Early Birds
It's Tuesday & I could win the lotto
& take us all to Homer AK

paula eagleholic said...

Jo - That's the same link that Bob posted earlier!

movin said...

Good evening, folks....

I was just reading the "Nest Observations" at IWS for today, and apparently, amongst zero action from eagles, they received a report of a sighting of an immature eagle, which had fledged on Catalina in 2006. Below is a link to the article.

Jim

K61 sighted

Mema Jo said...

Well, I guess I missed it. Lisa usually does post something from Bob on BW site after we have seen it....
Perhaps it's on the previous thread.

Anyhoo...... Great pictures!

Costume Lady said...

I hate to say goodbye to this beautiful day, but Mr. Sandman is beckoning me to bed.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY
SLEEP TIGHT

movin said...

Bai Yun is eating some of the copious bamboo in her ante room, and there is so much light coming from the den, that I think they must have an IR lamp in there now.

Some interesting birds on Pete's site this morning... Had to look up a small heron that looks like our Green Heron. It turns out that it is related very closely to the Green, but it's found in Asia, Africa and S. America: the Striated Heron.

Jim

movin said...

It appears that Bai Yun is drinking out of the basin in the ante room! First time I've seen that...didn't even know they kept water in there.

GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE. HAVE A GOOD REST.

GOOD MORNING, SUZ AND THE EARLY BIRDERS...

good morning, world. See Steve's note. We broke a record yesterday, record high was 69°, and we hit 70°. Unreal for this time of year in this part of the country! It was 58° at my house this morning, but 54° here. Warmer in PA, what's up with that??? But I'm with the eagles, I like it too. And love the pic of Lib and Belle. They're visiting much more lately, and that's a good thing!
Nice drive this morning, but saw 6 deer... 2, 2 and 2, they're using the buddy system. Also saw 3 foxes! Or 2 foxes and a cat, not sure about the second one I saw. They were alone, no buddy system for them.
All have a great eagle/panda day.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

movin said...

GOOD MORNING, SUZ,

I crashed early in the evening and am still up...not for long I hope.

I believe it's considerably warmer where you are than it is in So Cal this time of year.

We broke 60° today, but 58° was forecast.

We had a couple days of good rain, and I haven't read anything about disasters in the fire areas. I think we dodged a bullet on that one.

Have a great day, Suz....

Jim

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jim! I've been watching the news in regards to the CA rains! Heavy rains, and lots of snow in the mtns, but like you said, you dodged the bullet as far as mud slides go. That's good!
It is warm here, but it won't last. Supposed to get colder starting tomorrow, I think. Then rain also, and I think more rain on the weekend. Hate to say it, but we need it!
I've been trying to watch Precious, but the cam is on the bamboo hallway, and someone is in the door with the light on, but can't tell if it's Bai or ZZ.
Tai is fast asleep on his rock, and parent is off cam sleeping.

Suzanne said...

There was a racoon on the motion activated cam in PA. Glary light, though.

Suzanne said...

Oh, and something just walked by the cam on the corner of the main cam, but no idea what it was. Looked almost like a dog, sure didn't have a lot of hair!

Suzanne said...

Oh, never mind. It's a coon. Could only see part of his back, but he's back now showing us his pretty tail!

movin said...

I see the animal in PA, but can't see raccoon ... it turned and I can see the ring tail also.

I think it is Bai Yun in the doorway to the den, Suz.

Jim

movin said...

Is the coon back on camera, or is the cam doing instant replays again?

Jim

Suzanne said...

Ok, thanks, Jim. Ccoon is back! I was thinking it was Bai too, she rolled and wiggled her left foot, and Bai wiggles her feet a lot. She used to do that when she was nursing. coon is gone again. Wish he'd make up my mind!

Suzanne said...

Jim, did you see the Alaska Eagles pictures Lisa posted on the BWE site? Awesome pics! From Homer, AK. Check them out if you get a few minutes.

movin said...

It's peculiar, Suz, but the last few nights when I've been up late, I've had a lot of troubles getting to sleep. But when someone or something comes on that I want to talk to or want to do, I can't wait to get to sleep????

Same tonight, so I guess I'll try to hit the rack right away. Have a great morning, and maybe I'll catch you before you head home.

Have fun,
Jim

movin said...

I had a quick look at the new pics earlier, Suz. And I'll probably look again in the morning.

Suzanne said...

LOL, nice to know I can put someone to sleep!
Sleep tight, Jim, pleasant dreams!

This was out quote of the day this morning:

"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope
that if you just show up and try to do
the right thing, the dawn will come."
Anne Lamott

Just thought that was kinda cool. Didn't know Anne Lamott, so Googled her. Seems she's an author who lives in San Francisco. Haven't read any of her books, though.

Suzanne said...

Glancing back to see what I missed after I left yesterday, I see the link came from Bob on the Homer eagles. They are just awesome pictures. I'd love to see that many eagles like that! And Deb, I did see your 3 pics of the blond eagle, as the raptor lady told Bob, I think. He is a beautiful raptor, weather a golden or bald eagle. (I'm still thinking Golden, but hey, unusual any way you look at it.)

Suzanne said...

BOTH EAGLES IN BWE NEST!!!

Suzanne said...

The Lady BW left, Lord BW is working on the nest.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SUZ...
Our eagles are staying longer periods of time. Yesterday afternoon's visit started at 2:43pm and ended at 4:15pm; then Lib came back at 4:19pm and stay a few moments and left. Loooong visit. They are getting serious.

Suzanne said...

Wow, you're right, nice long visit! Good morning, Wanda. The Lord and Lady BW were both in the BWE nest, but now only Lord BW, and he's doing nestorations. The Lady BW lets him do that, she's not quite like Belle who has to re-do everything poor Liberty does! But the Lady does add her pine!

Suzanne said...

Deer in PA!

Costume Lady said...

It is 46° here and going up to 75°; that is so wonderful. We know it won't last, but lets enjoy it while we can. I see a BARBEQUE for dinner; maybe even an Eagle Talon before dinner. Party!!

Suzanne said...

LOL, you're right, Wanda. Enjoy it while we can.
OH, 2nd eagle arrived, BWE!!!

Suzanne said...

Darn, I have to go down the hall before our kids arrive. BRB!

Suzanne said...

Back. The eagles are now on the BWO platform. Not sure they're the same eagles, but both eagles are gone from BWE and 2 are now on BWO. So I would GUESS they are the same eagles.

Suzanne said...

Alright, one left, one still there scratching a bite on his/her head.

Suzanne said...

Wow, look at the PINK sunrise in Tesoro. Beautiful!

Suzanne said...

OMG, look at the pile of bamboo Bai is trying to get into her den! Half of it fell apart and is now in the door way/hall. It wouldn't all fit at once. Too funny!

Suzanne said...

BWO eagle left.

Costume Lady said...

Are there any babies in there yet? I havn't been keeping up to date.
(Tesoro)

Suzanne said...

Bai has Squiggles in her mouth and she's dragging her from den to den. She first brought her out of the den with the light, and took her in the other one, now she's brought her back to the original den! Poor girl, she's being dragged all over that ton of bamboo!

Suzanne said...

Wanda, think Norma said they should start hatching tomorrow, the 9th. She's been counting down! As deep as that nest is, we probably won't see any babies till they get bigger.

Suzanne said...

VERY foggy at Peggy's Cove!

Suzanne said...

LOL, Squiggles was trying to escape, and mom grabbed her right back.

EAGLE ALERT!!! EATING.

Costume Lady said...

FINALLY!

Suzanne said...

Glad you're here, I thought you left to get coffee! Didn't want you to miss them!

INCOMING BELLE. LIB WAS THERE.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

They are busy again today it looks like.

Suzanne said...

Lib just took off.

carolinabeachmom said...

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING TO SUANNE AND WANDA AND ALL OTHERS TO COME ON TODAY. Just got in and got the room together and a beautiful eagle came up on my screen. What a way to start the day!

Suzanne said...

Morning, Sharon. So nice to see them!

Suzanne said...

Good morning, Candy! That's Belle, isn't she beautiful????

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning Suzanne, Jim, Wanda, Sharon and Watchers.

They are a beautiful couple in the nest. Well one now.

wvgal_dana said...

Morning Candy

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SHARON...
NOTICE HOW REGULAR THEY ARE BECOMING IN THE MORNING? I'm guessing that is a good sign.

carolinabeachmom said...

Sorry SHARON, I missed you coming on. I wonder if they will be staying longer this am like they did before I want home from school yesterday afternoon. That was one loooong visit.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Dana.

Costume Lady said...

CANDY, you just seem to know when to tune in! Good for you!

Suzanne said...

I think Belle must be keeping her feetsies warm in the egg cup. Must be comfy, she's only moving her head.

carolinabeachmom said...

Sorry DANA, Now I called you Sharon. My eyes are still half closed and I can't seem to get in here early enough anymore to be able to chat for too long.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING TO YOU DANA...

Suzanne said...

Bai is bringing bamboo TREES into the den! Never saw branches quite that thick!

carolinabeachmom said...

Oops again. I see we have both Sharon and Dana on here. Well I guess I had better get my head together, papers passed out, but I will be watching the nest. You all have a wonderful eagle watching day. Suzanne have a safe trip home to Gypsy and the other kitties. BBL

Suzanne said...

Thanks, Candy, you too! Stay safe!
Bai is carrying ZZ around in her mouth, moving from den to den.
