Well Suzanne That pretty much was my trip to NCTC, unless I have some rich uncle who dies and leaves me a fortune for travel and enables me to retire. Otherwise for me I use my vactaion time and travel money mostly to see my kids. I did need to see that nest and meet many of you too though so yes I did make the trip. Perhaps someday when I retire if the finances stay at all capable to do some traveling I will come again. Do you suppose we will all still be a watching this cam and these eagles and their young....oh my what a thought that is LOL. We can go to Lib and Belles tree, stop by to see Big Boy and family, swing on over to Ms. In Between, and then just sit there and absorb all the happenings at Spunky's place. Fun thoughts.
OK got to unpack and do some laundry today for sure. A few groceries are also in order.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!----BEAUTIFUL "RAINY" DAY IN WV!!---The temp. is 61°---GREAT to see you are home safely GLO & VICKY!!-----You all, along with LOVELY ANNE MARIE & her GRANDDAUGHTER all made this day SPECIAL!!!---ENJOY THIS RAINY DAY----& PRAYERS for all the folks in SD!!!!----SEE YOU LATER---MUST GO DANCE IN THE RAIN!!--KIDDIN'----HELEN---Blow Kisses to the "LITTLE PRINCE" for me!!!!!!!
Haven't heard from Candy all week. Hope she's ok! She was visiting her son this weekend, did she come on at all Sunday? She usually comes on in the early morning, but not this week yet.
Oops, dropped the bamboo. Ok, just get down to get it, but think he lost interest by the time he got back down. Off to other adventures...
Good Drizzly Morning Thought I would come on in even though I haven't read all the comments! I could say something wrong & get in trouble by doing that. Emails will need to wait! I have not received an email response from Candy yet.. Hope we hear from her soon. Like Norma said - I am hoping Anne pops in to let us know she and Diana are home. Mits What's the fire report? Anything new?
Morning, all. Just getting online...went to an "Emergency Preparedness Seminar" this morning. Lots of good info on how to prepare for an emergency, either business or home. Most people think it's not going to happen to them...but look at the CA fires...life comes at you fast! First thing to do is to make a plan!
Hi Paula There is extensive planning for businesses as I remember Thankful now for computers with backup disc and not all those paper records. However, without power those paper records are needed!
Morning, Jim. See those fires haven't slowed down any! They are saying the wind is gonna change, so maybe that will help the fire fighters! Are you alright?
No, Suzanne, I'm just listening to the news on AM (jazz station carries little news), and the winds have died down, they're getting many of the fires on closer control now.
It's not over, but it's getting better.
No, my area of Santa Ana is not threatened this trip.
Time for me to hit the road. I'm tired and have to get gas and do some stuff tonight before I can even take a panda nap. Ugh. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly! Mits, have a good afternoon on Asia Trail today!
Great news. Little Sammie is home from the hospital and doing good. She has been told about her father's death and seems to be dealing with it okay. Keep her in your prayers for complete healing. She will still need therapy for her legs. Oh and she had 2 broken arms instead of one. Poor Baby.
See you later Suz & Mits Thanks Jim for the pics of Dolly's stroll on the ledge. Jill, thanks for the news about the little one.. She is going to have a long haul with all those breaks. I hope that Tiffany is doing ok.
I guess they are checking out the degree of 'wetness' as to how many dry leaves to bring! I surely wish our cam could have been tilted upward a bit so we could see Liberty in his favorite perch.
Well I think I have decided to just go ahead and post it too. Sometimes I have not known whether to do that or not but Can always delete it or leave it. Its kind of neat to see how excited folks get when they spot the nest has a visitor or two. The more excited posts the merrier.
Wonder what they are both so intently watching? Could someone run on over there and check it out ? I now know how close some of you live, and for some what a distance you do travel even for those who consider themselves to be sort of "local". Ahh to live within an hour of there would be priceless, even with what I do get to see here 3 months or so out of the year.
Getting dark at Pete's place. You can see an electrical storm in the background, and it is either raining on the pond, or the fish are very active after the insects tonight.
Well, I home in body but not in spirit. I crawled into bed and got 6 hours sleep. I'm at work but a little numb. I will tell you all about it later but it was a wonderful trip. My biggest complaint was it wasn't long enough. Just too much to see and too little time. It was memories for a lifetime.
Just had an email from Tiffany. Sammie's bones are healing quickly. Her heart is broken because she understands her dad is gone but she seems to have accepted it. Tiffany asked me to thank all those who prayed for her and everyone involved. Keep praying for little Sammie that she doesn't have any set backs but all seems to be moving along fine at this point. She told her mother she couldn't wait to get back to cheerleading. She doesn't realize that it will be quite awhile before she is ready for that.
Yes Wanda Tiffany needs our prayers too. She said she has a great support system helping her out while she goes back to school and finishes her nursing degree. But a few extra prayers won't hurt. And little Sammie is strong willed Jo. Doesn't know the meaning of the word can't.
As of 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24, the Wild Animal Park has started assessment and clean up efforts from the fire and wind damage. Of the over 3,500 animals that reside at the Park, two animals (a clapper rail and a kiang) were lost due to complications from the fire. More than 600 acres surrounding the Wild Animal Park were burned. These were open buffer zone areas and not exhibit space. The California condors and other endangered bird species, as well as other mammals, have been returned to their homes while others are in the process of being moved.
The rest of the animals remain safe, secure, and have weathered the firestorm well. The Wild Animal Park did lose one of the empty condor breeding facilities to the fire as well as a storage facility containing Festival of Lights event materials. Winds have damaged trees throughout the Park, but again the animals and exhibits have weathered the storm. A core group of employees is on hand to care for the wildlife. Other employees and some contractors are currently assisting with clean up and restoration efforts.
That is all so tragic. Glad to hear for the most part the animals faired well. One loss is one too many and I am heairng but not at all sure that perhaps some of this Fire was intentionally set. Gosh I really hope that isn't so. I certainly wish I lived closer to that Wildlife Park.
Hadn't heard about any intentional fire setting in CA yet - Geesh, I hope that isn't the case. I had heard they thought most was started by downed power lines from the wind...
Some fires were from downed power lines, others are believed to be arson. They have a guy in custody who they caught trying to set another fire. Like they don't have enough.
Good evening, my eagle buddies. Been busy this week with working and going for jury duty. Love having that civic duty to interrupt my days - NOT! Oh well.
It has been raining most of the day here in Bluefield. So badly needed, that is for sure. My dogs love getting in it and coming back in soaking wet, especially Buphals - he is such a water dog except when it comes to a bath.
Mits and Nilla, thanks for the pics of this evening. I missed them.
This weekend, I have to help Thelma move. That is going to be a really sad time but it is going to be good for her, I pray.
Next week, Andrew is going to Columbus for a "Percussive Arts Society International Convention" or PASIC to those in the know. I am going to Ripley next weekend for my twice a year weekend away. Really looking forward to it.
Returned from dinner - Thanks Mits & Nilla for the pics from their last visit. I still have some to place in for today's noon time visit... Looks like rain the rest of the week now - Fires seem to be under control in San Diego area.
Paula, Thelma is moving about 45 minutes away. The town is Draper, between here and Roanoke, VA. More opportunities for her with her career and hopefully a fresh start to her life. I pray it all works out for her.
Hey JIM, how about an update on the fires. Saw some terrible video on TV earlier today. They said the Santa Ana winds were going to die down tonight and that should help.

Wanda, yes, the winds have subsided today and are turning around to the SW, which is the normal onshore direction. The humidity is in the 30's now instead of 6-8%. Temps should stay in the 80's for at least one more day.
Generally, the firestorms have done a tremendous amount of damage, and they could do more if they turn into unburned areas, but the worst is over, and fire fighters are getting them under some kind of control now.
The air is heavy with smoke yet, and the stuff that blew out to sea (and Catalina, according to Steffi' report today...great pics of Channel Islands this week.) is now blowing back onshore and inland. The moon and even daytime sun light looks very peculiar when filtered through that junk! Just went outside and took a look at the full moon...I've seen darker orange moons but this one is a pale orange with a large orange halo tonight. Can still smell the smoke in the air.
[Geraniums and Bougainvillea really appreciate a good chug of tap water and a spritz on the leaves in this kind of weather...I could hear them whispering "thank you, thank you" ... as I left this evening.]
Stairways, walkways, driveways and cars have a nasty layer of cinders and other fallout all over them....
It must be very traumatic to have to leave your home to the mercies of a raging firestorm. I think all those people could probably use a prayer in behalf of them.

Haven't heard from Candy all week. Hope she's ok! She was visiting her son this weekend, did she come on at all Sunday? She usually comes on in the early morning, but not this week yet.

Awwwwwww, back to the red ring.
I just can't believe how he has grown.
he's almost fully grown, isn't he?
Good Drizzly Morning Thought I would come on in even though I haven't read all the comments! I could say something wrong & get in trouble by doing that. Emails will need to wait!
I have not received an email response from Candy yet.. Hope we hear from her soon. Like Norma said - I am hoping Anne pops in to let us know she and Diana are home.
Mits What's the fire report? Anything new?
he will be fully grown and sexually mature around 4 to 5 years.
checked about an hour ago, Jo, no new update yet, but still real early out there, but they have been really good on the updates.
still no new update. No news is good news.
Does he continue to grow in size up to sexual maturity?
Morning, Jo! Enjoy this drizzly day.
YES, he does, only around 153 lbs. now, his Dad is around 285.
Oh wow, he's got a way to go, then. Back in the tree we go...
looks like he is trying to trim branches
Morning, all. Just getting online...went to an "Emergency Preparedness Seminar" this morning. Lots of good info on how to prepare for an emergency, either business or home. Most people think it's not going to happen to them...but look at the CA fires...life comes at you fast!
First thing to do is to make a plan!
I am getting a glimpse of the 2 sister OTTERS on the cam.
Morning, Paula. Share your new knowledge, sounds interesting.
Tai has what looks like a styrofoam plate or something. Was carrying it around, just sorta dropped it.
Mits, looks like it's raining again. Hope you stay dry this afternoon, or at least as dry as you can.
Camera found the fishing cat!!!
Yup, still raining. You can see the rain hitting the water where Tai is drinking.
Swimmer on the Bonaire cam, lots of little fish under him. Cool.
Smokeys are all fogged in now.
Cam 1A had the Sloth bear in view.
So, I have taken my Asia Trail excursion for the day!
Oh! Cam 2A has the Sloth bear mother and the cub in view.
raining there, not here.
Hi Paula There is extensive planning for businesses as I remember

Good morning out there to you Jim.

Actually, I did read 2-3 comments before the Weagle Alert, but all I saw was a description of lines and cam troubles.... Sorry.
Jim
Lib has turned a little more to the left now
Wonder what they are both so intently watching? Could someone run on over there and check it out ? I now know how close some of you live, and for some what a distance you do travel even for those who consider themselves to be sort of "local". Ahh to live within an hour of there would be priceless, even with what I do get to see here 3 months or so out of the year.

EMAIL FROM ANNE
I was just getting ready to go back to the shop and thought I would check out the nest---glad I did!
JILL--Tiffany will need a lot of prayers also. She has a long road ahead of her being a Mom & Nurse and Therapist for little Sammie.
Thanks for the follow-up information, Jill. I bet that young lady will surprise us all in her recovery - sounds like she is strong willed!
Wanda - They have been here off and on since noontime.........
5am in Brisbane and the color is on..
Dolly in corner sleeping
Yes Wanda Tiffany needs our prayers too. She said she has a great support system helping her out while she goes back to school and finishes her nursing degree. But a few extra prayers won't hurt. And little Sammie is strong willed Jo. Doesn't know the meaning of the word can't.

Looks like rain the rest of the week now - Fires seem to be under control in San Diego area.
Liberty & Belle are going to get
on to you, Mits!
I didn't even think to take a pic this afternoon when the Juvie and the Adult eagles were on the platform at BW! DUH!
Hi Sharon! You are a busy gal!
Sharon - sorry to hear that Thelma is moving - will she be far?
But glad to hear you are getting away for the weekend....and isn't jury duty fun!
Yeah, those little buggers, know me, Jo.....Hello, Sharon:).
I don't mean to BUT when I look at Dolly looking at us... I have to laugh!
Hello Mits.
Paula, Thelma is moving about 45 minutes away. The town is Draper, between here and Roanoke, VA. More opportunities for her with her career and hopefully a fresh start to her life. I pray it all works out for her.
I just realized 2 months from today is Christmas Eve...
I am not touching your comment, Mits with a 10 foot pole. But thanks for the heads up!!!
Can't I just get past Zach's birthday before starting Christmas?????????? LOL Thanks Mits.
Yeah, but just think, there will be more regular visits to the nest by then
BBILW
:)
MITS--Think of all the Christmas presents you will have to buy now with 2 grandbabies. Better get started. LOL
Sharon - 45 minutes is not that far...you'll still be able to visit with each other.
We will absolutely still visit each other. She is family so we will definitely be visiting.
I think that Dolly has her own Kids Meal & feeding herself
Hi Sharon--Is Andrew liking college this year? Does he find it more interesting than High School and what is he studying?
Andrew is loving college. He is in Music Education. He had a recital yesterday on tympani and it was wonderful. He is even taking piano lessons!
I would have loved to learn to play the piano....My Mother sent me to dancing school instead.
I guess dancing shoes were cheaper than a piano.LOL
Hey JIM, how about an update on the fires. Saw some terrible video on TV earlier today. They said the Santa Ana winds were going to die down tonight and that should help.
Wanda do you have any Spiderman costumes?
Dolly looks like she had too much to drink and flopped up against the wall with one eye open.
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feather and fur! Hope you all have a very restful night and a wonderful day tomorrow.
Wanda, don't know what I will buy them, Molly will not need any clothes..she will have Maggies, but I will get her a few special things. What is with the e-mail follow up comments to my e-mail address above the publish your comments?????? Never have seen that before! GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!
Coming in to say
Good Night

GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY/GOOD MORNING SUZANNE AND THE OTHER EARLY BLOGGERS...
[Geraniums and Bougainvillea
really appreciate a good chug of tap water and a spritz on the leaves in this kind of weather...I could hear them whispering "thank you, thank you" ... as I left this evening.]
Stairways, walkways, driveways and cars have a nasty layer of cinders and other fallout all over them....
It must be very traumatic to have to leave your home to the mercies of a raging firestorm. I think all those people could probably use a prayer in behalf of them.
Rest easy, we'll talk tomorrow.

GOOD MORNING, SUZANNE...
