AT least something produced today! Congratulations Panda moms! I have been watching that crazy falcon most of the day and she ain't left that nest once! Much less stand up!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Glo, you've got mail!

wvgal_dana said...

Nilla what is that website I can't get into it????????

I did see the little "hairless pandalet".

And you all thought my hairless kitten looked funny lol

paula eagleholic said...

Can anyone view the video on Freida's site? It says High Drama, Egg rescue in high winds. When you click on it, it say Freida had to rescue an egg today, did anyone see that or watch it yet?

NillaWafer said...

Heck Dana i ddint save it .. just google ask (use to be ask jeeves) then put in what sounds do newborn panda cubs make?

wvgal_dana said...

Nilla they tried to mate them. He was really willing but she just wouldn't let him. So that's how they had to get her pregrant.

Mema Jo said...

I guess this answers my question about the check up: The cub, which is about the size of a human hand, is being cared for by mother, Lun Lun, and will have its first veterinary check-up when Zoo Atlanta officials determine it is possible to do so without disrupting maternal care.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ain't no d^^n wonder she ain't been off those eggs today. Look where it got her! Told ya'll the wind was blowing hard.

NillaWafer said...

Yes Paula i watched it WOW she was knocked completely off the eggs in high winds and then 1 of the eggs rolled i would say 5 inches away from nest .. she took her foot n beak and rolled it back in the nest...

glo said...

I just watched it Paula I say let that bird lie there and relax as long as she wants too. she is probably holding on to those weeds and crouching on those eggs to save them all. We could tell it was really windy there form the earlier blog comments. Poor bird. That is an amzing but crummy OK drmatic piece of work after sitting on them all this time to habve that happen. Although had the chick been hatched she probably couldn't have succesfully rescued.

paula eagleholic said...

It is very windy there today, probably why Freida hasn't gotten up.

paula eagleholic said...

Wow, I'll have to check it out tomorrow at work.

glo said...

Ok SharonI will watch for it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Dana, they also show a shift change from yesterday where Frodo laid on the eggs. So that was probably when you asked if that was Frodo!

glo said...

Well now I feel sad for Freida. i want to go help her out...Guess my showing up wouldn't be that much help. darn... I hope the wind has died down now geeesh. I think I'll go back and look at that cute little panda again. Don't have to go too far I have saved Mom and cub onto my desktop

wvgal_dana said...

For those of you that might not have gotten into that link Nilla put up. Check your emails .. I emailed it to you...

It is awesome!!

NillaWafer said...

Yes i rememebr when he took the nest and Dana ASKED ABOUT IT .. hE SEEMS TO BE MORE SLEEK AND DAPPER..LOL Lately she has her feathers ruffled alot..

paula eagleholic said...

If I am reading it right, when you click on the Brisbane current temp, etc, link on the Freida page, the wind speed was 65mph gusts today.

NillaWafer said...

Dana what no phone call tonight? lol i am in tears...lol

NillaWafer said...

Well we certainly had alot of rain thsi morning some hard rain to.. Must say the grass is greener and not dry n ugly any more...

paula eagleholic said...

Wind has died down to 22mph gusts, but I can't blame her for not getting up!

Mema Jo said...

The Frieda clip for SEPT 5: Look at those lazer lights!

glo said...

Ok Well glad to know Frodo takes a turn now and then. probably answers my question yesterday about her source of food over this time period too!!! LOL

wvgal_dana said...

Don't cry Nilla I'm just too tired to dial. YOu know you need a break from me. lol

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, the master of my life is wanting the computer for a little while. I might be back on later but don't know. I hope Mits shows up soon!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Andrew just saw Lun Lun's baby and he said it looks like a naked mole rat too and he hadn't even read the blogs or watched the cam at the zoo. Love his thinking!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

BBL!

Mema Jo said...

All of those clips are great on the Frieda/Frodo site. It sure gives you a good view of the ledge!! It really isn't hard to tell Frodo's feathers from Frieda's now that we've seen the switch.

I am assuming that all when you all went to the panda site & saw the pic of LunLun holding the little one - that you also went into the site where you can see LunLun sleeping on her side and the cub is lying flat out on the floor a few feet from her. LOL It will only take a month for all that furry hair to come out!

wvgal_dana said...

Isn't it something that 4 days fuzzy then at that time not even black and white coloring.

So tiny

NillaWafer said...

<~~ CRAVING SOMETHING SWEET... This is 22 days without smoking!!!!!!

I truly LOVED your album. I had a grey baby fox I saved and returned when she was almost a yr old to the wild. I kept her wild, teaching her to catch her food. I loved working and helping her grow. Her name was "Summer" cause that is when I found her. On Interstate 81 thought it was a baby kitten and the trucks were swzzing by her and the wind from the truck put her in the fast lane.

I knew from the start I would keep her wild that is where she belonged.

Mema Jo said...

Delphia Did you have time to check out the video clips of the past week on the F&F site. One shows Frodo nesting & there are a few more that are really good.

NillaWafer said...

OK Mits this si for you just incase our Maggie gets crankey and this is the reason.......CONSTIPATION (IN SMALL CHILDREN): Soak 6-8 raisins in hot water. When cool, crush well and strain. When given routinely even to little infants, it helps to regulate bowel movement... Thats All Folksss

NOW THIS IS REALLY STUPID REMEDY FOR A MIGRAIN HEADACHE AND DROWNED..LOL........................ Fill a bath with hot water, kneel down in the bath and place your head in the water and start to blow out of your nose. lift your head, take a deep breath and repeat for at least another six times. Then lie back and relax for 10 minutes.your headache should start to ease now and should be gone completely in the next half an hour.

Just Vicky said...

Do like my new kitty???

NillaWafer said...

OK THIS IS THE LAST ONE BUT MAYBE THIS OR ANY OF WHAT I POSTED WILL HELP 1 OF YOU IN SOME SMALL WAY IF YOU SUFFER FROM MIGRAINS LIKE I USE TO FOR OVER 30 YEARS......Another effective means is to use natural apple cider vinegar . Equal parts of natural apple cider vinegar and water should be placed in a small pan on the stove, allowing it to boil slowly. When the fumes begin to rise from the pan, lean your head over it until the fumes are comfortably strong. Inhale for approximately 50 to 80 breaths. This generally alleviates the headache considerably, if not entirely.

Just Vicky said...

Where are you getting those things Nilla??

NillaWafer said...

http://www.ask.com/web?o=0&qsrc=6&l=dir&q=Home+Remedies+for+Headache i just googled home remedies and there is a whole bunch of interesting stuff to read

Spmeday i am going to be a contestant on a game show and it will come in handy..lol i love triva

glo said...

Well just about time to call it a day for me. I have been headachy all day and am very tired. Not wanting to drown myself int he tub just yet, and don't have any applecider vinegar int he house, so its off to bed for me. Maybe tonight freida's little ones will come on out of there. Although given the wind there to day i am actaully very glad that little one was stillin its egg, so mom could just roll it back in place.

Good Night all.

Just Vicky said...

Nilla, remember us when you become rich and famous on the game shows!

NillaWafer said...

Vicky since i guess i went thru change of life i dont get migrains any more .. I actually have been in hospitol for 10 days with them and got nerve blocks in base of brain and was on very dangerous medicines for my body.. But it helped.. LOL i was married and had insurance then too..

NillaWafer said...

Niters Glo hope you feel better really should look at that site for headaches might be something there to help you..

Just Vicky said...

Mema Jo said...

It is that time of evening --

You two enjoy each other's company - I remember Nilla you said you didn't work tomorrow & can stay up late on the bird watch. With the camera angle as it is - close ups of eggs looks to be impossible. Think we'll need to wait for some fuzzy little chicks.
Vicky, King BoBo is very pretty.

Goodnight all. Sweet eagle dreams.

GOOD MORNING, SUZANNE
May the eagles follow you always

Just Vicky said...

Just Vicky said...

How big are their eggs?

MITS said...

Just got finished reading all the blogs. Thanks for all the info on Lun-Lun. For those of you who have not experienced the birth of a panda, you are in for a real treat. The only thing is Atlanta is doing it differntly than the National Zoo, already. The zoo had Mei and Tai on 24/7 for about 2 months. The cub has a really loud cry and poor Mei would get very little sleep in those 1st few weeks. Panda moms don't eat or drink for the first couple of weeks either. When Mei started to venture out for a drink, thats when they snacted Tai up for his exam. The little window you see on the door, next to her birthing den was a door just like that, with the same size window and when she heard him cry, she tried very hard to climb thru that window. OOPPSS! sorry too long, but it has been an honor and a privelige to watch him grow from day "1" Talk to you tomorrow, Just a few minor problems here, nothing major. And yes. when you live by the ocean, you always keep up on the latest tropical reports. Night!!!!!

Just Vicky said...

Niters Mits!

Just Vicky said...

Lights going out for me too! Keep watching NillaBean!

NillaWafer said...

hey guys... check out this website:
www.carolinaraptorcenter.org

I've actually been to the center, a few years ago, and it's just beautiful. they have an absolutely gorgeous Leucistic Red Tailed Hawk
(her feathers are white, but she's not albino) named Honeysuckle.

ANYHOO, they have video clips of bald eagle chick that were born at their facility!

if anyone has a chance to go to this place in person, i highly recommend it!

also, they have posted a video of Freida rescuing her eggs after a particularly strong gust of wind, if you haven't already seen it... at 11 pm phoenix time, which is 4 pm Freida time, the camera was not zoomed in as close, so i can see all of her on her nest... posting it on group site in Freida album....

Bird Girl said...

also, i have posted new pictures in my album on the group site...

Bird Girl said...

Sorry, everyone... I watched Freida until I couldn't make anything out anymore (the night vision turns on at 6 pm Freida time), and didn't see any hatchlings. BUT... she kept tucking her head UNDER her breast, perhaps peeking at a hatch in progress, or perhaps hearing the chick peeping??? I hope one of us gets the first picture!!!

Since Freida is 17 hours ahead of me, that means it's after 1 am here, and I should get my butt in bed...LOL!

watch for hatchlings!!!

Good morning Suzanne!

Heading to work here - everyone have a great day :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good morning Suzanne. Yes Lun Lun had her baby. I was watching at the time they said it was born but her back was to the camera and you couldn't even tell. They turn the camera off at 5 p.m. and I watched until then and they said the baby was born at 4:51. If you go to that website, there are a couple of pictures of the new baby. I would never have dreamed that a newborn Panda would look like a rat! :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

MT nest at BW and CT. Eaglet in NU nest but live feed won't come up.

Morning all, very foggy morning here, also. FULL MOON tonite!! Waiting for the grass to dry so I can mow, can't believe how tall the grass is, hate when it's scratching at my ankles.

wvgal_dana said...

Morning earlier than me Suzanne, Belle, and Sharon also lurkers.

If Lun Lun has a 2nd birth they will probably take the cub to raise by the zoo people. Panda Moms usually kill (accidentally the 2nd panda baby cub).

Going to look at the Frieda site ty Suzanne.

wvgal_dana said...

WOW WOW WOW What a video of Frieda getting blow all over the places up there. Blow off the eggs several times!!!!! She even had to gather the eggs they were blow!!!! You've got to watch this video on Frieda's site...

Maybe now we know why Harrisburg had that wooden thing up there. To protect the falcon against the winds. Being that high up with their nest.

Thanks again for telling us Suzanne. Poor Frieda; sure was rocking and rolling...

wvgal_dana said...

I believe if there would have been any "fuzzies" up on that roof. Frieda might have lost atleast one to that wind. Best the eggs hadn't hatched yet.
They need to put something on that roof for later incase of high winds again.

I have to go out for awhile check in when I get back.
