We continue to have significant power supply issues, along with software control issues with the cam. We have decided to hard wire the power and bypass the solar cells that have powered the cam the past several years. This will clear up the power issues.
We are working with the camera manufacturer on the night vision. We have gotten it to work on a sporadic basis, but not much more than that thus far.

Just back from DC. Here's the scoop on today's activities.
Our tree folks came out this morning, and after some observation and long discussion, it was decided that the tree was not safe enough for our climber to get up into the nest. Our nesting tree is slowly deteriorating, and a number of the limbs that support the nest are dying or dead.
This does not mean that getting our guy into the nest would have caused something catastrophic to happen, but it did mean that we were concerned enough about his safety that we could allow the work to happen today.
Our next step is to consider some alternatives, and we have targeted this Friday as the next day we can attempt to get the new cam in place.

Sitting in the Charleston SC airport after meetings this week.
Here's an update on the cam progress: We purchased a very nice high definition cam that will greatly improve the video coming from the nest. This cam did not have audio, so we needed to devise a way to include audio, as well as a better mount. In addition, there are more complicated networking issues related to the new cam, and these issues needed to be solved, including purchasing some additional equipment.
All said, John, Rob, Ryan, and others have been working hard to make sure the system works well before we go up in the nest. Will let you know when we're ready to go, I hope very soon.
