Good Morning Jo and thanks. I think you know how much I enjoy raising these butterflies. I, like Lynne, feel like I'm helping to keep their population up:) I now have 4 butterflies in that container, not ready to release just yet, still wet.
Lily and Hope are in a safe area. We connected with them today to change the batteries on Lily's GPS unit so we can closely monitor their movements. Lately they are spending most of their days resting. It looks like they're doing nothing -- but not true! They're growing luxurious winter coats! -- SM
I posted that late last night, Jo. The evening update made reference to a reporters TV blurb, so searched for it. It's about 11:30 last night, I guess....link is there.
From Nat Geo Crittercam and Wildcam: Not so bad news? Hi all. I've talked to folks at Real. It seems the cut-off of their service was not a deliberate decision on their part, but an accident of some corporate and technical rearrangements and we got lost in the shuffle. Apparently the person I need to talk to about renewing our partnership is out of town for a while, but I hope to talk to him next week. Fingers crossed . . . Kyler
Wanda, I just love the butterfly pictures. Can only imagine how amazing it would be to watch them emerge. Congratulations!
Lolly, glad you're not living in a bog but sorry about the humidity. Happy cheesecake baking. Oh, you can insert a second drooling smiley face, please.
School week over for me -- well, except for all the stuff I have to do to prep for next week. I do think this will be a good class. In fact, especially good attendance given the Jewish holiday when many students go home for a long holiday weekend.
It has been a most beautiful day here. Sunshine and nice breeze.
Haven't been in search of food so think it will be pasta and salad tonight. Going to put my feet up before heading to the kitchen.
Pralines are made, cheesecake is in the oven. Noted the drools all over the blog. ☺ I am drooling, as well. I love pralines, however these are on the bottom and the top of the cheesecake. (I did snitch a nibble. Don't tell Jack!)
LOL Audubon Guides had a contest on fb celebrating the number of their followers. I made a quick post and won an Audubon bandana. Not sure what I will do with it, but I won it!
Looks like 3 of us are having pasta for supper tonight:) Pasta is so easy to fix, but, it seems to take forever to clean up the mess...anyone else have that problem? My new stove has a black top and it shows every little splatter:(
Wanda, make that 4 for pasta, but mine is with chicken, spinach, pasta under an alfredo sauce. Just love those frozen and jarred ingredients since I can no longer stand at the stove for long.
p.s. Wanda, did you ever post pics of your new kitchen? If so, I missed them. Checked out your pics on your blog but didn't find it. Another pic from your blog should be framed. Gene standing in front of the clock. Amazing depth! Of course the one of GG and Jayden is a keeper.
Supper time. Will be watching for the royal pair to make an appearance. love to all bbl
Lolly you are lucky with a new bandana and a quickie dinner & desserts in the frig. Anxious to see the b-day cake you make tomorrow.
Wanda - Diann caught you about No pictures yet of your newly furnished kitchen from the floor up!
Judie - you have a week under your belt and now you have to get ready for another - never ending challenge. Very happy to hear you say this group of students is decent & seems like they are wanting to learn - You must have a very interesting presentation!
Well, Margy, the first egg that I brought home looked just like Humpty Dumpty...big and round, so he was called "Humdee", the 6 others didn't get named. They were just incidentals in that they just happened to be brought in on milkweed to feed Humdee. 4 hatched and were released today:) I have three left.
My girl is gone, kitchen is cleaned up except for one big pan--ran out of D/W room! Thankfully, she is feeling much better than she has the last two days. Shannon DID finally help her get the work computer stuff straightened out with their scanner. Would have saved her a lot of frustration if he had done that Tues.!
Evening Everyone! Been out and about today~~~went to Solomons to pick up an order from long ago & we had late lunch there. My first encounter at a restaurant with a club I've heard and read about & know a couple members~~~the Red Hat Club! There were about 25 ladies & something I didn't know was that as well as the red hats, most were wearing purple! Starting on our way up Rte. 4, saw several police, EM vehicles, firetrucks heading South about 3:30PM. Nothing on news.
Wanda, the Monarchs are spectacular. I was xing my fingers on the "Pepsi" one at the Park, as there was a tiny black speck on it. Think it was dirt or part of last molt, thank goodness. Well, gotta eat the leftovers!!!
Judie, Christie had her first on-the-road call today...to Cumberland, MD. She went with another guy....turned out to be a situation that she would not be involved in , but she at least now knows where that hospital is, and met some of the staff. She's adjusting to the different kind of routine. Her company van has about $1M worth of parts in it!
Sure glad you are so happy with this years class, Judie!
Loretta, the Red Hat ladies here often wear purple, too---don't know if there is a special reason/cause or not.
Red Hat Ladies Poem WARNING When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick the flowers in other people's gardens . . . But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
If I hadn't found all of you to be my friends, I would probably have been a Red Hat Lady for the companionship and friendship. But as I said, I found it here!
Time to bring things to a halt and go upstairs. I just wrote a quiz on literary terms. Then my computer went crazy. There was nothing but colored streaks on the screen, so I turned it off and restarted it. Now, it seems to be okay, but I think I might notify the tech people tomorrow.
I was afraid I had lost all of my work, but it was automatically saved, thank goodness. I really did not want to do all of that work over.
Good night, friends. I am looking forward to open house weekend.
Shirley, maybe you should back everything up to a disc! Will should be able to do that for you if he's home!! Get a good nights' rest! We'll see you tomorrow.
Dear Jo, we are the most fortunate to have you as our friend. Even if you turn into a Red Hat lady, we will love you and welcome your friendship.
Lynn, glad Christie is doing so well. Can feel your pride in her all the way to your old stomping grounds.
Have already fallen asleep twice so think that's a sign. Going to turn my light off but will leave the night light on for others coming in, or head back the hallway, down to the tub, up the stairs to bed. Goodnight everyone. Pleasant dreams.
For those of you who asked about my kitchen...It is not finished yet. Cabinets need to be cleaned (replaced is more like it), pictures put back up, etc.
Taking a look at the lion cubs before turning in. They are also getting a cleaning & feeding before their day is over. I am looking forward to watching those 4 little ones in a couple of weeks - should be some fun in the den!
Thanks, Wanda! LOL----your pics double posted, too!!! Blog is just plain nuts anymore. Left you a comment---but will repeat it here: try hot soapy water to remove that SS cleaner, and then use Windex to keep it looking decent!
Hi, Everyone! Getting here kinda late tonight. Was watching some TV shows we had recorded.
This has been one of those days where you run your caboose off! Went to the dry cleaners, the Post Office, the bank, and to school, for my Practice 4 exam. (Thank you all for your school prayers for me!)Funny--went to the bank because my debit card pin suddenly wouldn't work--then found, when I got home, that they'd sent me a new one. So now I need to go back to the bank to reset the pin on the new one! LOL
Shirley, hope your school day tomorrow is a good one!
Judie, glad your work week at school is over, and hope preparations for next week go quickly and easily! Really glad you have a good bunch of students, and I BET your presentations are fascinating!
Wanda, your kitchen is just beautiful! Love the floor, too. I'm SO jealous!
Lynne, hope you're feeling a LOT better. Hope you don't work too hard and really wear yourself out!
Lynn, I DON'T recommend this for you, but if anyone else wants to see what our freaky spiders look like, just Google 'Hobo Spider' or 'Agressive House Spider' and look for a website with pictures. Ours sure do look like them! Kinda hope I'm wrong, because their bite is so dangerous. Might be a close look-alike.
I'm hoping that tomorrow I'll time it right and get to see our eagles! It's nice to know that they are hanging around, although it's kind of too early for nestorations, I think.
Jo, I like your Red Hat Ladies Poem. Mighty glad you've stuck with us, though! Love you to pieces!
Lolly, glad you guys are not having to tread water--that was a LOT of rain! Mmmmm--that cake sounds just yummy!
Weather was nice here today. Got up to about 72, with sunshine and pretty clouds.
Well, getting late back east, so guess I'll call it a day. Thanks for leaving the night light on, Judie! I'm leaving the porch light on. Prayers have been said for everyone. (Chrissy, hope you are doing better! ((HUGS))!) The eye-scanner security is enabled. Dana's thumbprint-scanner security is enabled, too. Sleep well, everyone, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
Er...make that Neighborhood! Goodnight, Andy. NO----I won't google that 8-legged thing. Don't need nightmares. Just pray that you don't get bitten! Thanks for all the security measures. We love you, too, gal!
Will say my goodnights now---have been waiting for a MN posting on FB, but nothing yet. I'm sure that Lynn and Sue and the crew are plum wore out....have to assume that no news is good news. Prayers for all....and peace.
Lynn, I would like to look into refacing my cabinets...that can be expensive too, but a whole lot better than buying new cabinets. About 10 years ago, Gene took all the cabinet doors off and stripped and re-stained them. Looks nice for a while, but the stain is wearing off where I have to scrub them the most.
Been having a G & T with pop corn. I was very good at church and did not eat anything, but when I got home I was hungry. Popcorn!!
Wanda, your kitchen is looking great! Love the stove and refrig!
Yes, Andy, we did have mucho rain. Some people had major flooding. We will never flood but we sure can get boggy, but we are fine now. They have been a couple of deaths. One was a man who drove into a low water crossing. Why do people do that? Turn around!!!!!!! I knew coming home that the water was shallow over the road but I did NOT drive through it!
Okay, my turn to head to bed. Night all! Sweet dreams!
Wanda, if you run out of Windex, I use equal parts rubbing alcohol and water to clean my windows without streaks. I add some food coloring and write on the spray bottle in big letters that it is "window cleaner" so it can 't be mistaken for something that's not toxic. It's a cheap subsitute for Windex. Don't remember from where I got that idea, but it works for me.
Goodnight to those heading for the pillows. Catch you tomorrow.
Also Wanda, the kitchen looks good. I especially like the floor tile. Doesn't show dirt - that's what I need with these guys and my cats.
Guess I should turn in too. Hope everyone has a great morning tomorrow and I'll catch up with you later in the day.
Andy: almost forgot -- important. Google the hobo spider for details. It is also called a recluse spider. They hide in dark places. Check shoes and clothes, crawl spaces, underneath sinks, etc. Poisonous. Rather you be safe than bitten.
New note on Finney's nest site that they haven't posted any pics since 8/26. I KNOW I've seen the male fledgling less than a week ago, but if nobody is seeing them these days, they have probably all migrated south to Africa.
Both Finnish nests still look well cared for, and I haven't seen any crows or eagles either, so .... ????
Alcoa Peregrine nest: New female; bonding going on; nest box not being used; water tank is being used; not clear if they will reaim the cam toward the water tower again.
No Ospreys on BWO right now, but there are no other birds either....
I'm up early, and I hope I can stay up. My schedule has been turned around again.
Morning all. Judie, the broewn recluse used to only be in the SW, but has pretty much migrated all over the country. Have never seen any that I know of, but did have two employees at work who were bitten by them---they really thought they came out of packing crates of parts that came in from Mexico, but hwo knows? THey could have been hiding in our multiple stacks of cardboard.
Good morning! Jack is out frying sausage and he made bread yesterday. Ahhh...Friday morning sausage sandwiches. NORMA!!!!! Come on over!!!!
Have to get busy baking cakes to decorate as soon as I finish my breakfast and coffee. I will take a picture as soon as I am finished. Only thing...the toy figures I am putting on the cake will have to be put on after I transer the cake to Denton.
We have brown recluse spiders here. Not a lot of them, but find them occasionally. Just have to keep an eye out for them when cleaning out cabinets and dark places. They are recluse!
I'm up early as usual, but not going back to sleep after Hubby's off to work. Checked our nest, but no eagles at the moment.
Lynn and Judie, thanks for the concern about the Hobo spiders. I don't like the looks of them either--believe me! As far as I am concerned, they are positively demonic-looking! We have learned to be particularly careful about shoes, socks, gloves (ALL articles of clothing, for that matter!), etc. Thank God, since we usually keep the windows and doors shut (yes, even with no A/C), we haven't had many of them actually get into the house. Since they are SO big (about 2" in diameter, counting the legs), and SO speedy (about 2/1/2 feet to 3 feet per second!!!), they DO draw attention to themselves. We have both gotten quite adept at smooshing them with the business end of a broom. They usually cram themselves into a corner and stay still during the day outside, so don't usually cause a problem. If they get near the front door, we go out and kill them, so no guests get jumped on or dropped on. Haven't seen a single spider of any kind at all since the exterminator was here this time. He was nice enough to clean away all the spider webs outside the house, too. Am still being vigilant, but so far, so good! BTW, these spiders are in the same family as the Brown Recluse Spider, but their bite is not quite as serious--still bad, though. I promise to be really careful. Lynn, I think I'm more paranoid than you are about those 8-legged freaks!
Forgot to mention that I found a website that sells Hobo spider sticky traps. There's no poison in it, just a pheromone that attracts the spider, and it sticks to the trap and dies in a couple of days. The traps can be folded together, making it less likely for pets or kids to get stuck. I'm considering buying some of these to put near our patio door inside, and maybe the front door.
Have fun,Jo. Hope the shopping trip is successful! Andy, NOONE can be more paranoid than me when it comes to those critters. Only thing that I can say I am honestly afraid of. Lolly, never even heard of a brown recluse until I was in TX in '68. Signs posted everywhere---airport, bus station, restaurant, even the Alamo!! Scary!! Is Jack frying sausage on the grill?
I grew up in the brushland about 2 1/2 miles outside Del Mar, and we had many wild critters ... especially when we moved to the essentially uncleared, wild area right after WWII.
A lot of the animals were interesting and essentially harmless though; but we had a plethora of Black Widow spiders on our property. Just had to learn to look carefully before putting hands into or under things they like to use as cover.
I don't think we even knew about the recluse type spiders, and I don't believe we saw any. But they do have them in So Cal, and they are very dangerous.
A new one I read about not long ago is the Brown Widow, which is supposed to be more poisonous and is rapidly replacing the Black Widow around this area.
For those not on FB: The Bear Hunt Debate Guess it is what it is. Doesn't make it any easier to swallow. IMHO: bears are certainly not as fleet of foot as a deer....I don't buy "not seeing" a collar on a lumbering bear.
Made a visit out into the world of food gathering so there is now enough for a few days. No cheesecake but did get some Pepperidge Farm lemon cookies. BBQ hamburgers with tex-mex cheese on Kaiser tonight with sliced tomatoes.
Jim, I remember as a child in southern VA, about age 6, my father found a Black Widow spider in our garage. He captured it in a jar and showed it to me so I would know what it looked like and to never pick one up. Never heard of a recluse spider until I lived in Ohio.
Jo, sure hope you had a nice day out.
Lynn, don't worry. The leaves will all be there waiting for you. Cool weather, sweater weather, yay!!!
Andy, the spider catchers remind me of fly paper some people used many years ago. Give it a try and see how many accumulate. All in the name of research, of course. Just don't tell Lynn.
Can't remember Jim and Andy locations but hoping they are well away from the San Francisco fire area.
Off to check early news and put my feet up before heading to the kitchen.
It only takes me 3 hours of shopping in a mall then I am ready to drop. lol Did get what we wanted for the shower and of course spent too much for one shopping trip. It was fun! Afterward we did stop at Paneras and got soup! I came home and put my feet up and now here I am! DIL and gs coming over for Pizza! Wonder what GG is cooking up!!
Have finished the cake and have posted a picture. It is in the Family Pics blog. Disappointed in it, wish I had done differently. It is definitely a grandma cake! Oh, well, Jacob will love it.
I checked on the lion cubs - they are surely getting around well on their own. Three of them seem to stick together and the fourth one is a loner or maybe just the explorer. The cubs' first exam has been scheduled for the morning of September 17.
Judie, remember when we lived in Falls Church that my dad encountered a b.w. on the bathroom floor one night. Scary, for sure! He made us start wearing our slippers if we got up in the dark.
Jo, three hours is a LONG time at the mall....I hate shopping!
Hedgie - I took sit-down breaks on the benches/rockers... Jenny would go into the store and if there was anything we wanted in there, she would come get me!
Lolly, the cake is gorgeous! Jacob will enjoy as will everyone else.
Jo, I'm with Lynn. Don't like shopping these days. Been doing most everything online. Three hours -- congratulations. Enjoy the pizza. Oh, Paneras broccoli cheese soup is a favorite of mine.
So glad Jim and Andy are well away from the fire. Hope Anne-Marie is, also.
Sad about KoKo. Have to read the post. Yes, the lion cubs are beginning to do some exploring and I did notice one tends to keep to itself.
Anne Marie was heading to Alaska but I am not certain when. I know only that it is soon and she could already be there. I love to people watch! I usually flash a smile and see what kind of reaction I get when I say Hello!
Wow, anybody hear the plane at our nest? Air and wind conditions just right to hear it as it makes it's descent and approach to Reagan (Washington) National. They always follow the river....have made that approach many times!
Diann....I have it, too. You aren't alone. Yes, heard the motorcycles a couple of times, too. Glad you've made the furnace decision....one less thing to worry about!
Glad you liked that one Lolly. I can see everyone laughing at each other now. It is going to be FUN FUN FUN!!
My day started out with finally a dental appointment. Had to be in Hagerstown at 8:45. They took dental away in Oct. 2009. So I have really been doing a good job of home care. So we did bite wings and cleaning and I got a good job by my dentist. It had been a year. I've never gone a year before. They were nice and since I was paying gave me a discount (: I like discounts. So made the 6 month appt. hope when it comes I can afford it. Love clean teeth!!
Each evening we get more and more Momsters that see our eagles. It is about this same time & it is GREAT ! Margy are you off for a few days or will you be checking in the early am. We need to send Lori and email and get her early am eyes on the nest.
I got two of two, one of one... and have a bunch of stuff cooking in the kitchen better get back to that for a few minutes before I have to call the fire department !
BEagle, glad you finally made it back! Geesh...they should have just reimbursed you and let you buy one locally!
Well, guess if I had looked a few seconds earlier I woukkd have seen both of them....was cleaning up kitchen and when I turned off the faucet I heard the clunking....made it just BARELY in time to see one.
12:00am - 11:30pm LIGHT A CANDLE ON YOUR PORCH OR STEPS TO REMEMBER ALL THE HEROES OF THAT DAY,THE ONES WITH THE ANGELS AND THE ONES HERE WHO ARE SICK.
8:30am - 9:00am Moment of silence for all the victims of 9/11/2001.
I finally got through to Stand Up To Cancer and was able to donate over the phone. Lynn, thank you so much for letting me know that this was going to be on. My donation in years past went to my 2 nieces who did the Cancer Walk - They were unable to participate this year.
Evening dear friends! Jo, thanks for posting the Red Hat Lady text! It almost sounds like one of my patron saints--MAXINE! BTW---if you want to see a great car, race is on ESPN2 & Kyle Busch is wearing a pink suit & driving the pink car designed by girl w/kittens, bunnies, & baby seals on it!!!!
Got home late again, but had some Tony Roma ribs that only take 20 minutes!! Yum, yum. Packed my lunch for Sat. w/leftovers~~~ribs, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Not a lot of wildlife at Chelsea today despite the beautiful weather--did see a few deer nibbling when we left.We heard those stinker kingfishers at the pond. They won't sit still & it reminded me of Bob's great pics, so went online & showed them to artist working there today. She loved them!
I just put a pic on my blog of the "deerstruction" of my morning glories.
Yesterday my cough was so much better! Today it's back and even worse. UGH. I was at Irvine today, and one of the things I LOVE to do is watch for people to come in so I can go out and take out a snake for them to see for for the kids to hold, and feed the toads and turtles worms which everyone loves. But I just couldn't talk that much today because talking equal coughing. Double UGH. But we had fun anyway!
Hope everyone is doing well...will try to read back a little more in a bit. Miss you guys!
OH my gosh, one elderly lady found a dead stinkbug and brought it to me to find out what is was because she keeps seeing them at her house, too. That was a HOOT!! And her friend was very brave and held our largest snake, and Eastern Kingsnake!! That was really cool!
Loretta, maybe Bob hypnotized the kingfish! Isn't that the same car Busch-baby drove last weekend? Lynne, sorry you are still ailing. Could there be something you are allergic to at Irvine??? LOL----has that lady been living someplace else for the last 2 yrs.??!! Did you tell her to squeeze the stinkbug?
Lynne, so sorry you are feeling worse today. Laurel is coming down with a cold. Someone always gets sick the first of the school year.
I did not see the eagles. Had the cam up and was watching. Then Jack said the neighbors dog was out. Marly comes to me, so out I went and took her to their front door. She climbs the fence! I told Todd he needed to teach Marly to ring the doorbell. Anyway, I missed the eagles.
Lynn..thanks again for the info about the show....very touching....was able to view most of it... with the info on trouble getting through on-line and phone, I hope, you can send me the site to send something in the next day or so... please and thanks...
Well, my goodness. Teeth are taken care of (with discount) and furnace is taken care of (wish there was a discount). So glad for you both.
Hi BEagle.
Hi Margy.
Hi Shirley.
Yes, Kristofferson is no youngster. Rhodes Scholars are sometimes brain smart but lifestyle stupid -- ages a person very quickly.
Lynne, maybe it's time to have the dr. check out the cough? Been a while, it seems. Just a thought.
Lynn, not nice to have Lynne tell old ladies to squish stink bugs. lol
So grateful for all the donations and time given for cancer research. So very grateful some of our bloggers are with us as a result.
Getting tired. Going to turn my light off but will leave the night light on for others coming in, headed back the hallway, down to the tub, up the stairs to sleep, or just wandering in like teenagers on a Friday night. Pleasant dreams.
I was just thinking that the last time we went to New Englad we did not have a laptop. Went a long time without communicating via internet. Now I will be able to tell you all where we are and what we are doing. Yea!
I first joined this group when Wanda and Gene were traveling out west. I remember Wanda getting on occsionally while they were traveling...when she found a computer.
Lynn, could be something at Irvine, but most likely leaf mold or grass. This happens almost every single year since I was a kid, almost always in the fall. It usually runs it's course in about 10 days to 2 weeks. Chest and back hurt from coughing but I don't feel "sick" per say. No fever or headache, but runny nose. Just tired and out of breath. NOT going to Dr. Have meds from last year...an inhaler and Tessalon Pearls. They gave me cough medicine with Vicodin in it also boy, that didn't go well. Hence the Pearls.
Lolly, I sure hope Laurel doesn't get too sick....but I guess it's bound to happen when you are around so many children every day.
What beautiful weather we are having! But hoping to get some rain on Sunday...we sure do need it.
Going to hit the hay now. MIL is here for the weekend and we are supposed to meet at our friend Kathy's for crabs tomorrow afternoon. Need cough to be gone or I can't go. I am quite sure I am not contagious, but I'm offensive nevertheless. No one wants to have to listen to this, especially while eating!
Prayers for you all my friends and have a good night!
Hubby and I went to Five Guys for dinner. Had never heard of them before, but one opened up just a couple of days ago not too far from home, so we tried it. VERY good fries, and liked the burgers, too. Think it's great that they use 100% fresh beef and no fillers. Liked having such a choice of toppings, too. We'll be back. (Do you guys have these places back east?)
Lynne, sorry you're coughing again (or is it still?)! Keep taking the Mucinex and get lots of rest. Sounds like you had some cool adventures at Irvine, though.
Margy, so glad to see you back here! Miss you when you're gone. Glad you will soon have some well-earned days off.
Speaking of the B.W. variety of 8-legged freaks, we lived in Salt Lake City for 2 years when I was just in grade school. Our home was a duplex with a basement apartment, and had window wells to let light in downstairs. There were DOZENS of the darn B.W.s in those window wells, so my dad had a serious talk with me about them. Learned to just avoid places where they hang out, and not disturb them. DOES pay to watch where you put your hands and feet, for sure! In case you didn't know, Diann and Lynn, I have arachnofobia too. Darn things nearly give me fits!
I watched the Mystery Theater with Inspector Lewis and Sgt Hathaway. Now it is time to prepare for bed but I just remembered that I need to light my candle out front on the concrete steps at midnight. Mine little light just might shine earlier
Paula, I figured they must be a "back east" thing. Guess they are in the northwest, too. Glad we have one now! Good food, and quick service.
Well, I think I'm going to call it a night. For some reason, I've been sleepy all day. Leaving the night light on (thanks, Judie!), and the porch light. Prayers have been said for all. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. Hope we all sleep well. Will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love each and every one of you! :o]
Time to say Pleasant Feather Dreams to those hitting the hay ;>). I will be as soon as I get hair done!
Lynne, hope you feel better soon--yucky allergies! Lolly, LUV the Batman cake. Remember the theme song that was on for the TV show? Well, I think that might have been my daughter's first word!! I heard her sing "Baaman" from the playpen! Goodnight all my buds ☺
Andy, we have just recently gotten Five Guys in our area---everyone who has eaten there say they have the burgers of ANYPLACE!! I haven't been yet. Well, goodnight one and all. Will check FB for a bear update before I hit the hay, but so far, nada. Prayers and peace.
I am falling asleep. Time to call it quits. Going to go shower but will be back to check on the bears!Guess we all want to hear the bears are safe, however if it is bad news then I will not be able to sleep.
Thanks, Lolly, for the Bear Report...should be a NO-BRAINER on making it illegal to shoot collared and ribboned bears. What on earth is wrong with people?!
Had another fun Friday with the family...photos on JUST FOR FUN. GG was VERY good this evening. I made linguine chicken and peppers and she ate a good sized plate of it, along with a helping of fruit salad...and a G&T:) Neither Dustin nor Brandon could make it tonight...really missed all that testosterone!:)
Fell asleep after we got home and wasn't sleepy at normal bedtime, but getting that way now.
Hello to all: What a perfect time to show up - I just saw the note from Steve about the installation of the HD cam - YAY!!! I have read in the past about a few of you who love the Wendy's Frosty and I just came across a copycat recipe and thought of you. Here it is: Wendy's Frosty Ingredients Copycat
1 cup milk 1/2 cup Nestle Quik 4 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
Instructions Blend milk and Nestle's Quik for 10 seconds on high speed of blender. Pulse in the ice cream until barely mixed. Mixture should be very thick. Freeze for at least an hour before serving. ENJOY!!
Went out into the yard and you know what happens then. You always find something to do. After I finished I told myself I better get in there and get some breakfast.
Lynn that is a cool morning to wake up to isn't it?
Wanda when you come in I just love the RV commerical. I think you and Gene had something to do with making it. My thoughts of why...because you both know WE ALL on here like nature. lol

Thanks for the new thread.
Extremely dry except for TX...
Thanks for the call over Wanda - The Documentor of Butterflies. Love them.
Good Morning Steve - Thanks for the fresh dry thread.
I am about to go out and take the petunias out of 2 planters and get the mums planted.
BBL
Good Morning Jo and thanks. I think you know how much I enjoy raising these butterflies. I, like Lynne, feel like I'm helping to keep their population up:) I now have 4 butterflies in that container, not ready to release just yet, still wet.
Enjoy this beautiful day, outdoors!
lol - Lisa has a very good piece of info with a photo for proof as to when the Ospreys have gone! Take a look!
Jim, check Lisa's 2nd blue link on BWO cam page----that's how we'll know when the O's are all gone!!! LOL.
ROFLMBO -= Lynn you are at it again -
Did you read my comment above yours..?
Where is the article or comment about Sarah's collar being placed in the
mailbox?
From MN:
Lily and Hope are in a safe area. We connected with them today to change the batteries on Lily's GPS unit so we can closely monitor their movements. Lately they are spending most of their days resting. It looks like they're doing nothing -- but not true! They're growing luxurious winter coats! -- SM
I posted that late last night, Jo. The evening update made reference to a reporters TV blurb, so searched for it. It's about 11:30 last night, I guess....link is there.
And NO, I didn't see what that you had put Lisa's info on! Great minds think alike!!
I'll go over and check out the comment link.
Going to take a break

Sure thought I was going to start blowing some leaves today....but wind is working against me. Par for the course!
From Nat Geo Crittercam and Wildcam:
Not so bad news? Fingers crossed . . . Kyler
I am in from the yard now. Got a lot accomplished and came in soaking wet. 87 and extremly high humidity. Yuk!
Have cleaned up. Now to tackle making the cheesecake.
Cheescake! (insert drooling smilie face here :-) )
Late arriving here but thank you, Steve.
My delete. Blog cop ate my comments then waited until I posted again and posted twice. Stupid blog cop!!!
Pralines are made, cheesecake is in the oven. Noted the drools all over the blog. ☺ I am drooling, as well. I love pralines, however these are on the bottom and the top of the cheesecake. (I did snitch a nibble. Don't tell Jack!)
Momma lion is out, think I see her shadow. The cubs are just a cute pile of squimyness!
Whoops! One has wandered away from the pile and is down at the bottom of the cam.
Yippee! Company for dinner!! Christie is in Cumberland,MD and will stop in for dinner on her way home!
Get in the Kitchen Momma
Throwing together some spaghetti and garlic bread to feed the kid!
Yea, Lynn! Isn't it fun to have family home for dinner?
Cheese cake has finale topping, ten more minutes in oven, then last sprinkling of pralines and it goes in the frig to chill.
Now to think about dinner. Need to whip something up fast as I have a meeting at church at 7.
LOL Audubon Guides had a contest on fb celebrating the number of their followers. I made a quick post and won an Audubon bandana. Not sure what I will do with it, but I won it!
Looks like 3 of us are having pasta for supper tonight:)
Pasta is so easy to fix, but, it seems to take forever to clean up the mess...anyone else have that problem? My new stove has a black top and it shows every little splatter:(
Hi everyone.
Will be watching for the royal pair to make an appearance. love to all
bbl
No pasta here....smoked brats, baked potato, and lima beans.
Jack smoked the brats the other day. A quickie meal tonight.
Windy at the nest - web is beginning
Have my house windows open - I think due to the wind and the drop in temp I better close them.
EAGLE EAGLE EAGLE
EAGLE!!
Looks like Lib
GONE
Called out and looked upward
Flew up to branch.......
Hi Diann
I made up my mind I was going to see our eagle tonight!
I will put my pictures over in E_M album
Oh, no, I missed him by minutes!
Maybe next time:(
Yay for you and Diann, Jo....
well heck Yay for me too...I just caught that beautiful sight of one of the Royal Pair at the Royal Palace...
You keep making up your mind just like you did tonight Jo !!
Good Evening Eagle Pals !
Hi Jo & Wanda.
Watching Jeopardy and was just lucky to see the eagle. Now the web is starting to cover the nest.
commercial is over .... later
Wanda
did you name your new butterfly offspring?
Really enjoyed all your latest pictures...did some catching up last night cruising your links ♥
Hello,
My brain is fried again. Ugh. I will hang out here for awhile.
I see that Lib paid us a visit.
The blogger cop tried to get me, but I had copied the message. But . . . then I got knocked off the blog and had to sign back in.
Hi Margie.
Jeopardy is over. I was rooting for Cheech Marin, but he didn't understnad the question and he couldn't hear me with the answer.
Yeah, I got it right!
I'll probably be back much later so everyone have a great evening and blessings.
Football, so I'll have control of the remote. Yipee!!
God bless & goodnight
My girl is gone, kitchen is cleaned up except for one big pan--ran out of D/W room! Thankfully, she is feeling much better than she has the last two days. Shannon DID finally help her get the work computer stuff straightened out with their scanner. Would have saved her a lot of frustration if he had done that Tues.!
Glad some of you saw our eagle!
Yep, Wanda, Diann hopefully lit the fire under you to post those kitchen pics! We're nosy!!!
Ah Lynn, so glad you have enjoyed dinner with Christie. How is she doing with the new job?
Lolly, so pleased you got the baking done. Just wish I could be your quality control tester.
Margy, congrats on seeing one of the royal pair. You deserve that treat given all the hard work you do to serve others.
Diann and Jo, also very happy you both saw an eagle. Wish I had been watching the nest also.
Yep, Jo. One week down and 14 to go. It's okay. This is a good group of students and I am feeling better. Makes world of difference.
Lolly, tell Jack? Tell Jack what? I know nothing, I see nothing, I hear nothing.
PS: Congrats to those who saw our Lovelies. I didn't get to watch--doing laundry, etc.
Red Hat Ladies Poem
WARNING
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens . . .
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
If I hadn't found all of you to be my friends, I would probably have been a Red Hat Lady for the companionship and friendship. But as I said, I found it here!
Jo, that is a heartwarming image! You would have made a great purple Red Hat Lady, but we are so fortunate to have you, and thankful that we do!!!
Loves you all!
I am glad Christie had dinner with you
Means a lot when our kids give us some of their time.......
Jenny is coming over tomorrow am to
take me shopping! Baby shower gift to find. We'll probably do lunch of course.
I think with the baby shower and this being Melissa's 5th child, we will look for something nice for her also.
Pook on her Moose Blog has a new pic from 9/8/10. Beautiful moose by her pond.
I'm taking a break but will return
BBILW
Time to bring things to a halt and go upstairs. I just wrote a quiz on literary terms. Then my computer went crazy. There was nothing but colored streaks on the screen, so I turned it off and restarted it. Now, it seems to be okay, but I think I might notify the tech people tomorrow.
I was afraid I had lost all of my work, but it was automatically saved, thank goodness. I really did not want to do all of that work over.
Good night, friends. I am looking forward to open house weekend.
That is a great pic Pook got, Jo. Her pond is a nice oasis for the wildlife!
Agree with your idea of getitng Melissa something for herself, too!!
Hi all! I am home from church. Had a fun time. Now watching football with Jack.
By jove...gonna have to see me an eagle tomorrow evening. Will try so hard to remember tomorrow, but that is always fix dinner time for me.
Tomorrow is cake day. I am really excited about doing it. Think the cake is going to be really cute.
Good night, Professor! Glad your work week is over!
Good Night Judie and Shirley!
Shirley, tomorrow is Friday... end of your work week.
I am going back the hall but will return to say good night.
For those of you who asked about my kitchen...It is not finished yet. Cabinets need to be cleaned (replaced is more like it), pictures put back up, etc.
Posted a few photos on WANDA'S WISHES.
Thanks Wanda - it is really looking good in your kitchen!
Taking a look at the lion cubs before turning in. They are also getting a cleaning & feeding before their day is over. I am looking forward to watching those 4 little ones in a couple of weeks - should be some fun in the den!
Hoping that all of you have hit the hay or on your way to doing so.
Good night everyone
Prayers for everyone
Hugs for everyone ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Thanks, Wanda! LOL----your pics double posted, too!!! Blog is just plain nuts anymore. Left you a comment---but will repeat it here: try hot soapy water to remove that SS cleaner, and then use Windex to keep it looking decent!
Love that countertop, too---had that in my guest bathroom at my "other" house. :(
Check into Sears for cabinet refinishing. Much less expensive than replacing----THAT would probably cost over $10G!!
Horrible fire south of San Fran......looks like a whole big beighborhood is going up in flames. Explosion....?gas? Just awful.
Sleepy time here...
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Been having a G & T with pop corn.
Bear Update..all is well
Wanda, if you run out of Windex, I use equal parts rubbing alcohol and water to clean my windows without streaks.
Prayers for all needs/wants. ♥♥♥♥
Lolly, thanks for the bear update. I worry about them. I can now go to sleep without fear.
God bless.
Good Happy Red Friday Wishes to everyone...
I haven't been able to watch the nest this morning during some of the prime-time opportunities this morning...wonder if they have been in or out ??
Just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone and
if this is really YOUR Friday:
THEN TGIF !
and well, for everyone else, just hope it is a good day, period!
Good flyover for ISS tonight hereabouts, and watch also for the baby moon, it might make its first appearance in the West tonight...
xoxo TTFN
Good morning!
Hi Margy. Can't remember if you are working today but hope you have a nice one.
Wanda, the kitchen is looking so pretty. Thanks for the pictures - Thanks for the pictures. That was a thanks for each set.
No bear update this a.m. so hoping that is good news.
Do NOT like the look of a hobo spider.
Okay, off for coffee and newspaper.
BBL
Andy: almost forgot -- important. Google the hobo spider for details. It is also called a recluse spider. They hide in dark places. Check shoes and clothes, crawl spaces, underneath sinks, etc. Poisonous. Rather you be safe than bitten.

GooD MorniNG, EveryoNE.

C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Morning all.
Judie, the broewn recluse used to only be in the SW, but has pretty much migrated all over the country. Have never seen any that I know of, but did have two employees at work who were bitten by them---they really thought they came out of packing crates of parts that came in from Mexico, but hwo knows? THey could have been hiding in our multiple stacks of cardboard.
Jim, we have seen some hoodies at Fin Ferry, but that's all that I'm aware of. And, of course, ferries and sailboats in the water!
Only thing...the toy figures I am putting on the cake will have to be put on after I transer the cake to Denton.
transfer!!!
We have brown recluse spiders here. Not a lot of them, but find them occasionally. Just have to keep an eye out for them when cleaning out cabinets and dark places. They are recluse!
Howdy, Gang!
Well, need to check my e-mail. Was so busy running around yesterday, I didn't have time to look at it. Will BBL. :o]
Sounds like a plan, Andy.
I am off to bake. A day on my feet, do not like that, but I will survive.
Have a great day!
I'll be baaaaaack!
Good Morning - almost ready to head out to meet daughter but wanted to pop
in here first.
Have a great day... Yes, I am putting on my red shirt.
BBL
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Have a good day, everyone.
I've got to take care of business around here.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
It's another breezy day....works against me in trying to blow leaves---ARGH! And that breeze is on the chilly side. Sweater weather. :(
Oooh, Jim, that doesn't sound good at all. Hadn't heard about it before. Be careful....it[s a jungle out there!
For those not on FB:
The Bear Hunt Debate
Guess it is what it is. Doesn't make it any easier to swallow. IMHO: bears are certainly not as fleet of foot as a deer....I don't buy "not seeing" a collar on a lumbering bear.
Back for a visit.
It only takes me 3 hours of shopping in a mall then I am ready to drop. lol
Did get what we wanted for the shower and of course spent too much for one shopping trip. It was fun! Afterward we did stop at Paneras and got soup!
I came home and put my feet up and now here I am! DIL and gs coming over for Pizza! Wonder what GG is cooking up!!
I need to clear the table....BBILW
Have finished the cake and have posted a picture. It is in the Family Pics blog. Disappointed in it, wish I had done differently. It is definitely a grandma cake! Oh, well, Jacob will love it.
I checked on the lion cubs - they are surely getting around well on their own. Three of them seem to stick together and the fourth one is a loner or maybe just the explorer. The cubs' first exam has been scheduled for the morning of September 17.
Sad news from Japan:
KoKo dies
Judie, remember when we lived in Falls Church that my dad encountered a b.w. on the bathroom floor one night. Scary, for sure! He made us start wearing our slippers if we got up in the dark.
Jo, three hours is a LONG time at the mall....I hate shopping!
I think the cake looks just fine, Lolly!
Hedgie - I took sit-down breaks on the benches/rockers... Jenny would go into the store and if there was anything we wanted in there, she would come get me!
Judie, Jim and Andy are both down around LA. Anne Marie is close to San Fran, but don't think she's in the San Bruno area.
That gave you a chance to people watch, didn't it, Jo?!
Headed for the kitchen. BBL
Anne Marie was heading to Alaska but
I am not certain when. I know only that it is soon and she could already be there.
I love to people watch! I usually flash a smile and see what kind of reaction I get when I say Hello!
Love the b-day cake, Lolly
Need to make way for company & pizza
BBL
Wow, anybody hear the plane at our nest? Air and wind conditions just right to hear it as it makes it's descent and approach to Reagan (Washington) National. They always follow the river....have made that approach many times!
Hi everyone.
Lynn I heard a motorcycle earlier but did turn down the sound.
Great looking cake, Lolly. You gs will love it because you made it just for him.
EEeeeewwwww all this talk about 8-legged creatures. I have arachnaphobia and hope to never see another one big or small.
We finally made a decision on the furnace. Signed and sent the proposal today along with a 25% downpayment. Whew! Glad that's over and now we wait...
bbl
Have been on facebook loading pictures of our time at the volley ball tounament. Loaded a ton of pictures.
Diann....I have it, too. You aren't alone.
Yes, heard the motorcycles a couple of times, too.
Glad you've made the furnace decision....one less thing to worry about!
Loved your comment, Dana. That is exactly true! Everyone will be laughing at each other at the blue mouths.
Evening all Eagle Friends (:
Glad you liked that one Lolly. I can see everyone laughing at each other now. It is going to be FUN FUN FUN!!
My day started out with finally a dental appointment. Had to be in Hagerstown at 8:45. They took dental away in Oct. 2009. So I have really been doing a good job of home care. So we did bite wings and cleaning and I got a good job by my dentist. It had been a year. I've never gone a year before. They were nice and since I was paying gave me a discount (: I like discounts. So made the 6 month appt. hope when it comes I can afford it. Love clean teeth!!
I am heading for the couch to get my feeties up.
Remember if you don't already FLY THE AMERICAN FLAG DO SO TOMORROW --SEPTEMBER 11th. MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL.

The power supply went out on my brand new computer. It only took 15 minutes to replace it and 2 weeks waiting for it!
Please watch Stand Up for Cancer at 8pm. On all major networks. Please give if you can!! Thank you.

Hi Margie, Jo, Lynn, Beagle and anyone else here. Now that I've seen them, I'm going to close down on this netbook and watch some tv with the guys.
Have a good evening. Will probably check in much later tonight. Always try to wait for an update on the bears.
.... later
Thanks Margie.
Haven't seen ISS for a while. Have the guys watching the time for me.
I am saying a quick hello. It was a long day.
Well, if there is any further action, I'm not gonna see it.....the web has done me in! Good pics all! Jo, you can move mine into proper time sequence.
h, my----Kris Kristofferson looks so old---and his voice is gone! Always one of my faves! Did you know he was a Rhodes Scholar?!
Lynn, it's going to take a lot of redials to get through the number for Cancer donations...... Persistence will prevail.........
Margy, going by time on all of the other pics, guess one did come back! And I caught it.
Like Jo, my flag flies all the time---except for when blizzards break the flagpole!
Lynn - I would like to ask you to check the time you have on your photo..
Let me know if it should be earlier..
AFTER THE SHOW THAT IS
Hey gals, maybe we can win within the next 10 mins a HD Cam!
I still can't get through. After the show if I don't get through on the phone I will donate on FB page
My apologies. I should have said hello everyone.
I finally reached the 60 mark and I still have elementary manners.
It's really exciting to see Lib and Belle. They are beautiful and talented.
Next time my computer stops working, it would be a good idea to have the part shipped to me. It would go faster.
Looks like a wide open market for technicians but it must have it's share of headaches too.
I finally got through to Stand Up To Cancer and was able to donate over the phone.
Lynn, thank you so much for letting me know that this was going to be on.
My donation in years past went to my 2 nieces who did the Cancer Walk - They were unable to participate this year.
Thanks, Jo!
Oops--time should have been 7:40! You can change it, Jo, surely!
Forgot that my clock is 5 mins. fast!!
Donating in honor of Deb, and for all of our Momster cancer survivors.
We HAD it....IT did not have us!!
WhooHoo!
Evening all! See I missed our birds :(
I just put a pic on my blog of the "deerstruction" of my morning glories.
Loretta...Tony Roma ribs as in the QB? Where do you get them? And are they really special?
Lynne, so sorry you are feeling worse today. Laurel is coming down with a cold. Someone always gets sick the first of the school year.
I did not see the eagles. Had the cam up and was watching. Then Jack said the neighbors dog was out. Marly comes to me, so out I went and took her to their front door. She climbs the fence! I told Todd he needed to teach Marly to ring the doorbell. Anyway, I missed the eagles.
I am so tired tonight. Working on that cake did me in. So messy and so much clean up afterwards.
Glad you could peek in and say hidey ho, Lolly....
you are always at work !!
Soon, playtime approaches for you ♥
Lynne2- gosh, sorry you are still coughing and feeling rough...but you still look for those opportunities to share some fun and adventure
Hello More Evening Eagle Pals, Loretta included !!
Evening, all.
It's been a long work week, one more day to go. Gonna grab some dinner and chill this evening...
Glad Lib and Belle have been around.
Lolly, the cake is wonderful. Joseph will love it I'm sure.
Wanda, nice butterfly pics and your kitchen is looking great.
Nice to see you Margy, and BEagle glad you are back too! That would drive me crazy to not have a computer for 2 weeks!
Paula
I sure hope one of these weeks you are going to get more than ONE day off on the week-end...
always good to see you !
And all Momsters and Dadsters here
I have not gone back to read morning and afternoon posts..need to do that here now
xoxo
Thankfully, Lolly, beach house we're renting has WIFI....so taking my laptop!!
Lynne, hope you feel better soon.
Thanks Margy, hope so soon, too.
Hi, Everyone!
G'nite all.
Hugs to all ♥
Hi Andy, Bye Andy!
Yup, we have 5 guys here!
Nite Paula! Sweet dreams!
I watched the Mystery Theater with
Inspector Lewis and Sgt Hathaway.
Now it is time to prepare for bed but
I just remembered that I need to light my candle out front on the concrete steps at midnight.
Lolly, looked over all your pics on FB and they surely show you all have a
fantastic time.
Oh, Good Night to those on the pillows and those heading there soon..I'm not far from it but have just a little magpie-ing to do first
Hope Sleep is Restful and Restorative for everyone on all our Eagle Corners....
good friend of mine who is a really good grill cook...has been to the Five Guys in Jefferson County and gives it high marks
Lolly

I am falling asleep. Time to call it quits. Going to go shower but will be back to check on the bears!Guess we all want to hear the bears are safe, however if it is bad news then I will not be able to sleep.
Nite all!Sweet dreams!
Good night everyone.
God bless!
Bear Update..Great Article!
Stayed up late watching the TX Rangers finally win the game against the Yankees. Now to bed!
I made linguine chicken and peppers and she ate a good sized plate of it, along with a helping of fruit salad...and a G&T:)
Neither Dustin nor Brandon could make it tonight...really missed all that testosterone!:)
Fell asleep after we got home and wasn't sleepy at normal bedtime, but getting that way now.
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Loving wishes for a Peaceful Day...

I watched the nest when I could, have not seen any visitors this morning but I might have missed them
God Bless Us, Every One

Off you go Margy and may you have a peaceful shift. I know it is a "never know" though.
My flag is flying and God Bless All Americans.
my delete blogger wouldn't post then posted twice
Hello to all: What a perfect time to show up - I just saw the note from Steve about the installation of the HD cam - YAY!!!
I have read in the past about a few of you who love the Wendy's Frosty and I just came across a copycat recipe and thought of you. Here it is:
Wendy's Frosty Ingredients Copycat
1 cup milk
1/2 cup Nestle Quik
4 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
Instructions
Blend milk and Nestle's Quik for 10 seconds on high speed of blender.
Pulse in the ice cream until barely mixed. Mixture should be very thick.
Freeze for at least an hour before serving.
ENJOY!!
Morning Momsters and Dadsters!
Irene, good to see you back! And w/ such a treat for us! Yummmm---thanks!
46° here this AM---brrrr.
Good morning Irene and Lynn-Hedgie.
My thoughts of why...because you both know WE ALL on here like nature. lol
Lynn are you going to head back over the mountain to see Ricky Skaggs this year?
No, Dana, not going to Pickin' this year. Two in a row is enough.....unless there is someone really great that I just MUST see!
