Hi Steve, thank you for the update and the new thread. Can't blame you for using caution where the climber is concerned.
Margy, have a nice Panda Nap and a whole bunch of fun with James.
Lolly, I hope you're not just running on adrenaline. Get some rest. All will take care of itself in time. Besides, Jack needs time to make a valet key cabinet.
No fainting today. Incision areas are much better today. Dry. New bandages and re-booted.
Paula, have a terrific visit with Michael. May the weather cooperate.
Wanda, so glad it's just a shot. Thought maybe I missed some major event while I was under the influence. Hope you get instant good results.
Hi Jim. Need to check the panda cam. Did check Snowman and, how strange, see snow all over the snowman.
Lynn, Ms. Mai is adorable. How's she doing this afternoon? How are you doing this afternoon?
Shirley, it's almost winter break. Hang in there just a few more days.
Okay, going to check out a few cams before Darth realizes I have escaped the bed.
Dana, did you have to get bloodwork and EKG done today? Must be so, cause otherwise pre-registration is done on the phone if you are talking about City.
Judie, clean the area with warm, soapy water, dry well and leave open to air as much as possible......is that what the nurse told you?
Lolly.....sorry but I don't know what a Valet key cabinet is or what it has to do with eating out....?????
Got some really disappointing news this AM.....Christie is not at all happy in the "new" job....she is probably going to quit if she can get a lab tech job again. I am disappointed in her---which I probably shouldn't be, but I've never thought she was a quitter. :(
Lucheon went very well. Food was delicious. Everyone seemed to have a great time! But we had 9 no-shows---argh! No refunds.....heads were counted in advance.
LOL, Paula---you've got a few days to wait for the weekend. This is only Tues.!
Keeping fingers crossed for Fri.!!
BTW: as some may be remember the day: where were you when Pearl Harbor was bombed? I remember my folks saying they were eating Sunday dinner after church at Grandma's. They were even married yet. "A day that will live in infamy." 69 yrs. ago....
Oooops......just asked Christie why she called at noon when she knew I would be at the luncheon......she didn't; it was Shannon--I just saw the name on caller ID, and didn't look at number. He was calling form his cell phone from work......now she's ticked off at him for calling me----sure that it was about her decision to quit the job......
Lynn, nurse said I could clean the incision areas but the problem is the conflict with having the foot open to air and contained in the boot which is supposed to be on 24-7. I am cheating and taking the boot off at night. Have no idea what the consequence will be.
Also, sorry about Christi being unhappy about the new job. Could it just be a long adjustment? A let down after all the excitement of a new job?
Also, sorry about all the absentees for the luncheon. Maybe just the cold and being extra busy for the holidays.
Jo, you have some good news. Did you get me a toy? A boy toy? Well, okay. Just having you as a friend is the best.
The last paragraph of my first post should have said: "some may be old enough to remember" and "they weren't even married yet"! Duh....brain going too fast for fingers!
Hi Judie! I mainly got 4 pairs skates - You think you are ready for that yet?? Or would you do better with the lego? I do love toy shopping. Wasn't really crowded and I just pushed the cart while my daughters filled it!
I am so happy though that the therapy is going well. That boot is heavy but it really helps when you put your foot down.
Lynn, I wouldn't call Christie a quitter - She had the nerve to jump from a job to see if what she is doing now is better for her. I would think at this time of year that all the travel she has been doing is maybe what has her thinking about another change.
Judie, not sure of the purpose of the boot....so don't know if NOT wearing it will be detrimental...the kind I had was only for when I was up and about, not when resting. They had to take my hard cast off early because it was rubbing so severely on my bony prominences! I didn't have any incision lines, tho'.
Don't personally think that Chris has given it long enough....she is just unhappy about the uncertainty of daily schedule. Never knows until 8'ish where she has to go...often 2 hr. trip each way, and repair job or preventative maint. can take 6-8-10 hrs! She is currently on her way to Havre de Grace, MD for a two day job....had to get a hotel, of course. Guess she is more like me that we thought---not spontaneous!!! Like order and planning....
Just got back from driving to the local cable company office to pay the bill that I usually pay online. Decided to try for the internet again, and lo and behold, it worked!!!
I have missed talking to all of you SOOO much! Lynn, thank you so much for relaying my e-mail messages to everyone here! Gosh, since I haven't been able to get to the momsters mail, I bet I have about a thousand in my inbox!
Gosh, I just got back here, and now I've got to run. Have a class tonight. Will be back after I'm home from school. Hope everyone has a good evening! :o]
Oh--little Emma is doing fine. After we got back from paying the bill, Hubby took her out to go potty. On the way back in, they encountered a snail. Emma got right down there with her nose, then started barking at the snail, with her back end up in the air, and her nose on her paws in front--typical "play" stance!! Some ferocious puppy we have! LOL :oD Will be back later tonight.
BRRRRR..... I wore my Panda hat today! The River channel was running, but shallow Jug Bay was frozen at the Park. The same eagle we saw Saturday landed again in tree behind Vis. Ctr. As soon as I opened the door, it flew away--boo. Length of the wingspan is still amazing to see. On way home, saw the tiniest sliver of the moon ever. Almost an eclipse!
Andy, that was certainly a well-timed entrance!!! LOL--Emma and the snail sounds like Shirley's dog and the ants!!! Glad you are back among the connected!!
Paula and Jo....know you are right...just hate to see her give up too hastily.
Carolyn's family got lucky tonight--their dumb neighbor took down a tree----and the electric line, too! Happened at 2:20----power co. was there at 4, and it was fixed shortly thereafter. Too cold a night to be without heat!!
Wow, I was thinking about using a crane yesterday! My BIL had crane co. Hope the ground up there is solid. Maybe it's frozen!
Heard about Elizabeth Edwards. So sad & I thought she had more time. She had discovered lump while campaigning was going on, but waited til after election to do anything & it ended up stage 3 by then. Must have been a fast growing kind. Most people survive BR CA these days.
Well, Geesh! Steve is now giving us a Crane instead of eagles...what made him think we wanted a Crane? (I'm really so very encouraged by his news!)
Judie is hiding from Darth after giving him the "Boot" and Lolly is nearing the end:( Jo needs to pray for all of us at Mass this evening;)
Andy, you need to skip school so that you can read those 1000 emails in you inbox! Did I miss hearing about Baby Mai today? Wanna hear all about her and her antics everyday, Lynn:)
Re: Pearl Harbor. I wasn't around yet, but my Uncle was there. His crew was lucky---they were out in the sea away from port when bombing started. His was one of the few ships that survived. He lives in Falls Church & I was watching news to see if he went to memorial. I remember when I was preschool that my aunts would sit and listen to the radio w/my Mom. They would read lists of the lost sailors & soldiers.
Evening, Wanda! You sound perky, like a chip off Judie! LOL Will you & Capt. Father Gene attend the Crane gathering? I want to know if installer person w/camera will be lowered by the crane!? I see this poor guy (in my mind)dangling above the nest!
Oh remember when phonograph records would get stuck? Sorry Dana but that came to mind when I was reading your post, wasn't sure if my eyes were failing
very sorry to read of the death of Elizabeth Edwards....very sad, the way everything turned out for her after she gave so much of her time and devotion...
Rosedale is having Dec 11th at 5:30Hedgesville High School Band and all the luminaries placed around that people have donated money for. I went to Rosedale today and made out my check for my donation for a luminary for Ed. That will be a cold night...it is outside in parking lot.
Mema Jo remember when our EagleMomster Belle use to go there with daughter and family and put out the luminaries. (Belle's daughter went to Hedgesville and was in the band). Jo I will check back in to see what toy you would have brought me LOL
hope Christie's situation turns around and she finds that she loves that job, Lynn sure is tough when things don't turn out as rosy as they appear from the start
naturalist friend in New York near Erie Pa has 2 - 3 ft of snow, but heard the Tundra Swans flying high above the clouds before the storm weather moved in, they were getting out of Dodge and headed our way.....I will keep bugging everyone to hear of any reports of sightings or sounds of them
It was Dec 6 2006 when I first saw and heard them fly over on a full moon night
Loretta, I missed the infant moon due to clouds I guess, so glad you saw it !
had a nice evening with James, we went shopping for the food baskets they are working on at school, I will take our things up Wednesday and have lunch with him too, first time I've done that. It was fun watching him pick things out, he said some people don't have stoves to cook on, so we figured that into our choices
have a mountain of things here to take care of.....
Best wishes for a good evening for everyone, glad to know that Andrea is back on cybertrack. glad the toy shopping was fun, Jo, is great to see Judie Post, and I wonder, where is Shirley ?
Have finished dinner and now going to make some banana nut bread to take to Laurels. She has had 2 fruit baskets delivered and a friend asked what she could do, Laurel said she needed breakfast help, so bagels were delivered for breakfast. However, I know she needs more for breakfast on Thursday. So....ta da...banana nut bread.
I got back on the blog and thought you had all gone wild chatting away. But, low and behold, Dana was just hogging the blog to herself! :)
Wanda, something got a hold of you, Lady! You are full of it tonight! Really do not want to get up, but off to the kitchen I go!
Dana, please take something for the stuttering. Maybe some castor oil?
Jo, I think Lego pieces would be good for now. Maybe I could build a ramp to downstairs (where all the snacks are located) or maybe I could build a boy toy.
Wanda, you and Capt. Father Gene should go to the nest to watch the crane activity. Cheer them on for a successful cam installation and safe return to ground level.
Christie's going to be just fine. She'll do what she knows is best for her. Glad Carolyn has heat.
Lowreeda, t.v. has been running Ledo ads here for days. Think of you every time.
ANDY! SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU BACK! Hope class went well tonight. I think a short story is in the making: Emma and The Snail. Cute. Bring us up-to-date when you have time. Can I remove the tin cans from my door knobs?
Hi Margy! How was James time today?
Where's Shirley?
It's still a bit early but am beginning to feel tired. So will be turning my light out in a few. Will leave the night light on for others coming in, going out with puppies, headed back the hallway, or just stumbling in late.
Thought of you this weekend, Judie. Michael has a curved staircase, uncarpeted. Zach sits and slides down....bumpity, bumpity, bumpity...bump! He can go fast! Can you?
Crisis in the household. Hunter is having to do long division with remainders. He told me that it is harder than anything I ever had to do in math and that I would not be able to do it. He is also convinced that his mother never did math that hard.
I have come back upstairs and Kathryn is doing the explaining. It is her turn. Little does Hunter know that the thing that is really harder than long division is teaching someone else how to do it.
Reminds me of my mother the math teacher. She just might have been able to get him to understand it.
Can't say that I ever liked long division myself, especially with remainders.
Dana....come back!! Use your trash can!!!! ROFL! No, CHI doesn't call....you have to call them. Dr. is supposed to give you paper with pre-registration phone number to call. Grrrr.....
Wanda, Mai has been a mixed bag of activity today. Not as rambunctious as yesterday, but more mischievous! But she sat calmly on my lap all the way through Jeopardy! And she "watched" some like Cinnamon always did! Shar Pei grow into the wrinkles!! Usually keep them around face and neck and shoulder areas, but that's all. She is nowhere near as wrinkled as Shanghai was.....as you can see from the pics I posted yesterday. There is no way of knowing for sure, I suppose, because of no history but don't think that this litter was pure....think it is mixed with who-knows-what!
ROFL, Shirley! Hope you told Hunter that long division even with remainders has been around for centuries?!!!! I never minded it per se, but hated when a teacher would not set a limit on how many places to carry it out!!!!
Lowreeda, Elizabeth Edwards told Andrea Rowan on CH. 9 that she did NOT do monthly breast exams or get her mammos because she was too busy living life.......really too bad; if she had and it had been diagnosed at an earlier stage, we probably would not be hearing now of her death. My age.....what a shame.
Lynn, we're still at the point at which you just write the answer as, say, 6 with a remainder of 5, so he does not have to worry about how many places to carry it out.
He was in a mood today. Grandma got rejected. He told his mother that, since I am a high school teacher, my explanations were just too hard for him to understand because he is only in fourth grade.
I had him counting Legos. Kathryn was so frustrated she was about to tear her hair out--and his. I think he had to make up to her by telling her that her explanation was better than mine. That's just fine with me. They went to bed on a positive note and there was no bloodshed.
Almost 10:00 already. This day has been busy and seems to have flown right by! I need to do some picking up around here and think I need to write two checks.
Mai is learning to walk up the steps! Advantage of long legs. Hope she learns down soon, too. She weighs 14#....but it's not as compacted a weight as Cinnamon was....plus I don't have to be so careful about how I handle her! Still won't eat tonight...hmmmmm.
I was helping James with his homework earlier too, writing ten sentences using spelling words. It's touchy when you use the word in a sentence and it is misspelled. also dotting i's and putting periods at the end of sentences. Sure wish I could work every night with this child on his homework. Even though he gets a little put out with me also. James is so far behind on many school skills and life schools but he sure seems to enjoy learning... and he is way ahead on some of the "sensitiveness" skills. Very heartwarming and heartwrenching narrative Shirley... thanks for sharing these thoughts
I almost skipped the mammogram that told me I had breast cancer. School was about to start and I'd not had a mammogram for several years, so I thought I'd better do one at the end of summer before school started. It's fortunate I did.
Hunter was fighting us every inch of the way, Margy. It was drama city there for awhile. He'd had a hard day at school because he was not getting the assignments done. And he kept arguing that we were wrong and that we did not know what we were talking about.
He said his teacher said they could not draw pictures to figure out the answers. I remember drawing little lines and counting them. I just did them on a separate paper that I didn't turn in with the assignment.
evening all! back from busy day at Irvine and babysitting. One of the girls, the 3 year old, has pneumonia. UGH. Hard to tell, as she was really wound up! Did my best to keep her quiet. Had a lovely ride home through the town where they live. Decorations on light posts, shopping centers decorated, houses all lit up...just like when I was a kid! Of course, that was a long time ago, and I have wrinkles now. I'm hoping to live long enough to grow back into them. Just like a Shar Pei.
I think I might swallow a couple of Sominex tonight.
I'm also going to go downstairs and adjust the thermostat. I think I really need storm windows and doors. It gets cool and drafty downstairs and then it gets too warm upstairs in the bedrooms. I should go ahead and do it before the year is over, so I can claim it on taxes this year.
Margy, glad you had a good day with James! I'll be listening for the swans...heard them last year! Tracey and I thought we heard them 2 weeks ago when she was over. But we can't be sure.
Judie, you sure are getting back to your old self! However, I am fearful for Darth as to where you are putting that boot.....
Dana, you sound (so to speak) like a broken record!!!
Lynn, so sorry Christie is unenchanted with her new job. I'm sure she'll work it out but I understand your concern. And I hope little Mai gets her appetite back! When is her vet visit?
Long division. UGH. Flashback to my poor father trying to help me...only then we had "new" math. He was an "old" math kinda dad. LOL! Hope you fight off your cold. I've got the whole sneezing runny nose scratchy throat thing, but I don't really feel poorly.
Remembering Pearl Harbor today. And very sorry to hear of Elizbeth Edwards passing. Didn't expect that so soon.
So Emma has met a snail! Hopefully she will not become obsessed with them like Sasafrass with the ants, or my Puddles with toads!
YAY~~~a crane for the cam on Friday! Sure hope all goes well!
Someone living behind me has a bunch of noisy puppies. Yip, yip, yip. I wonder if they are taking care of them. It sounds like they are outdoors a lot. There have always been lots of dog noises from that area.
Lynne, I hope the Sominex works the way they say it does. I think it is actually just Benadryl, which should help if I have any allergy problems going on tonight.
Shirley, know how rough it can be. My ex was a math genius--literally. And if the girls had trouble, he just could NOT bring it down to their level. Many tears and angry times when they needed help. He had no patience with them, expecting them to be as smart as he was.
Margy, were you going to try to sell the dollhouse stuff? Or did I dream that??
Lynne, hope your back is better. Was there heat today??? How can the birds manage without it? Mai's apptmt. is Th. afternoon. What should I do about eating?
I am a year and a half away from my last mammogram. I must make that appointment...I certainly know better, what with a family history (GG). GG is doing well, thank you very much! Although she is beginning to show some signs of the reduced sunshine syndrome. I suppose we are all getting that about now:(
I don't think Father Capt. Gene and I will be witnessing the cam installation. We will probably cooking Family Friday dinner. If the timing is right, we may be able to watch a little while???
After doctor visit, grocery shopping and visiting GG, Gene and I drove over to Hagerstown and had dinner then drove home through Williamsport (MD) and looked at the Christmas lights. They are always so pretty there and the Park is jam-packed with light displays. It's worth a short drive to go there and see all that cheerfulness
Sandman is knocking on my door and calling out: JUDIE, JUDIE, JUDIE. I think I'll will pretend that I am she and see what he does;)
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS SWEET DREAMS PRAYERS FOR ALL
Lynn, no heat AT ALL in the aviary! As in, no heat source period. The birds will be just fine. In the wild they'd be out in the elements. Ours have a partial cover over each mew, and they all have "hide" boxes to get into if need be. We'll have to start moving the hose into the main building after we clean and water. Not sure what the game plan will be if pipes freeze.
What are you feeding Mai? If dry, you could try throwing pieces on the floor for her to chase. That might entice her. How long since she last at anything? You don't want more than a few hours, maybe 6 or 8 tops without eating. Risk hypoglycemia because she is so young. So go ahead and mix in a small amount of baby food for her.
Hypoglycemia is more common in smaller breeds. It sounds like she is acting just fine otherwise, but if she is still refusing to eat in the AM despite baby food, I'd just give the vet a call.
Okay, Lynne...thanks. She hasn't eaten since about 9am other than on elittle puppy milkbone and maybe a dozen pieces of food----Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Food, chicken flavor. Same thing she ate at the fosters' home.
I'd try the baby food now, and the throwing of the kibble on the floor. You can see if she'll eat another Milkbone, too. Probably just a bit of stress...try not to worry. But if you can't get her to eat well in the AM, call the vet and tell them.
Forgot a stinkbug story....at Irvine today, this little boy was watching the terrapins with his mom. I went over to say hello, and he told me in great detail how a stinkbug flew into the water and the turtle ate it! He was so cute...probably about 4 years old.
Mai is awake. Time for a trip out and then try the baby food. Will take my bath and then hopefully get her settled down for a good night for us both. See y'all tomorrow. Prayers for all in need.
I am here. Fell asleep in my chair. Every night...too pooped to pop! Look forward to January when I have nothing to do!
Lynn, was it you that asked what a valet key cabinet was? When a valet parks your car they then put your key in a cabinet.
I am so sorry Mai is giving you worry problems. Sounds like our resident vet is helping out.
Okay, better hit the shower before I fall forward and hit the keyboard.
Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Forgot to mention...talk about math homework and helping. When Laurel was in high school and needed help, Jack was in California on a trip. They did homework help via telephone. I certainly could not help! It was beyond me! LOL
and here's hoping Mai Ying wakes up with a voracious appetite, no matter time it could be...but better in the morning after a peaceful night's rest with her "Momma" ♥
All of the talk about Pearl Harbor reminded me that my birthday is today. I was born the day after Pearl Harbor.
My father used to talk about rushing home from the hospital and making a recording of the news broadcast. He made a record somehow, I think with the radio they had then.
It was an interesting old radio/record player. It even had a button to push for television. I remember pushing it and waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever did.
I have often thought that that radio would be worth something now but I have no idea where it might be.
Morning all. Decent night. Baby Mai DID eat last night and again this morning---I just stirred in a scant 1/2 tsp. of baby food turkey w/ broth----and she gobbled it all! (Ha---no pun INTENDED, but...fitting for sure, huh?) We slept from 12:30 til 4, right back down and then til 6:45. Thanks, Lynne!!
Wind had stopped when I got up this morning......but is stirring again now. It was 22° then. Dumby next door was loading firewood into truck (throws it so clunk-thump-boom) at 7AM, and is now working on 2nd load=headache for me!
Hello There, Could anyone tell me how many miles from Shepherdstown the nest site is, I live on the Maryland side and would like to walk the C&O to try to view the Eagles along the river.
Good morning, Huminbird! Welcome! It is not too far, but you will have to wait for others to tell you how far. Been there, but I am from TX and can not give you the details. Someone will be on soon to give you an answer.
40 here and cloudy. Just north of us they were supposed to have snow flurries. We really have not had a hard freeze. I have some petunias and some periwinkles still blooming.
Heading to Laurel's soon. Memorial is this afternoon. Have a great day everyone.
Have not talked with Laurel this morning, Wanda. Family all arrived yesterday. I think they are doing very well. Joey is the most emotional one and he is doing fine. It was up to him to write the obit and he also worked on a slide show. Laurel said Letha is a real worker and that is good. I really like her and she really likes Laurel. So, they have worked well together going through Faye's things and making decisions.
Sophia is going with her MeMe (Kristen) and Aunt Jenny to see the Nutcracker. She is totally unaware of what the Theater will be like. She told her MeMe she didn't really want to go to that Peanut (Nutcracker) thing - she doesn't like ballerinas. Anthony said he would love to go and Sophia told him, "NO! it's a girl thingy" She is always dressing up in her tutus and dancing around. She has healed well and goes back to surgeon in one year.
Welcome Huminbird! Hope you see some eagles on your walk, and I hope they are ours!! It's been so long without a camera to watch but hopefully FRIDAY!! Come back and chat with us...we don't bite!
Difficult morning here...the hose that drains outside from the washing machine has frozen. It's one of those big black drain hose thingys that's under the pipe from the laundry room, and it drains into a big hole in the ground under the oil tank. French drains is what we have here. But it has to go over a hump to get there and the water stuck below the hump froze. Washer wouldn't drain. UGH. It took 6 3 gallon buckets of hot water to get it moving.
Oh Jo, I think Sophia will be in total wonder seeing the Nutcracker! And I am so excited for you that in only TWO more wake ups, the G-Gang will be here!
Happy Birthday Shirley! Left you message on FB! That old radio sounds really cool! I have never heard of anything like that. Sure wish you knew where it was!
I guess, at this point, Baby Mai is not sure where she belongs...takes a while. I'm wondering what the Shar Pei Rescuers fed Mai Ying. Has her little tummy become accustomed to their food? I hope that your Vet can help with her tummy problems, Lynn.
Surely, little Sophia will enjoy the Nutcracker! We took Dustin to see a 3D version of the Nutcracker at Virginia Beach Marine Museum umpteen years ago, and he enjoyed it very much. Gene and I didn't really care for it:(
♫♫♫HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY.♫♫♫ Enjoy the day and may the students give the the gift of peace and quiet today.
Welcome Huminbird. Hope you enjoy your walk along the river, see some eagles, and will return to join our wonderful blog family.
Want to catch up a little before I start grading. As Shirley knows, this may well be the most difficult task we have -- frustrating anyway.
Jo, time is getting close. So excited for you. How long will the gang be there before moving south? Can't wait to hear Sophia's reaction to the "peanut girl thingy." Bet she will be enchanted. If it is the Kennedy Center production, the review was very positive.
Lynn, glad Ms. Mai has eaten. Maybe she's just going through a little adjustment time -- did she have to leave siblings? The mother? Maybe gums sore if teething and hard food hurts? Regardless, ask the vet to make sure about type of food, etc.
Lynn2, sorry about the drain pipe but so glad it is draining now. Frozen pipes are not welcome!
Lolly, it is nice that Laurel and Letha get along and will be able to accomplish much that might otherwise be left indefinitely.
Margy, have fun with James. Clearly you are the shining light for him.
Math story: my learning disability involves math and abstract math concepts, Darth is a math wiz engineer, I used to try to do fractions (cut recipes in half, etc.) and then put the paper down the garbage disposal so he wouldn't see my mistakes. After I was tested, I didn't care anymore because I know now it isn't my "fault."
Turtles eat stinkbugs? Ah, now I understand the UMD "fear the turtle."
Wanda, glad you and Gene were able to see the Christmas lights -- just watch out for that sandperson -- sneaks up on me with no warning sometimes.
Well, can't delay any longer. Must begin some grading.
Wanda, yes, Mai was with her mom and littermates until Friday night. Definitely some adjusting...same food they had been using, tho', so....will see what the vet says.
Judie, the math thing is perplexing to many--it took 3 times before I passed geometry! Third time was at the college the summer before I started---prof was a retired military guy who was father of a high school classmate---HE made it understandable! Of course, the text was better, too!
Have fun grading....know it's not your favorite job!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!!! Hope it is a fantastic day for you!! Wishing you the very best.
Didn't make it back here last night. Was really tired in school, and when I got home, fell asleep in the recliner after a late dinner and a trip outside with Emma. Both Emma and I slept through the night! Hubby didn't have the heart to wake me up.
Emma has been a very good pup today. She is no longer afraid of her food dish. Yesterday she jumped at her food dish with both front feet, and flipped it, sending puppy kibble everywhere, and causing the bowl to clank loudly on the kitchen floor. Scared herself so badly that she was afraid to eat out of the dish! Silly girl. She's gotten over that by now, and ate a big breakfast to prove it. We found out she likes the yogurt and apple flavored dog biscuits made by Blue Buffalo. We have to break them up in small chunks for her--puppy teeth can't quite handle it. But she LOVES them!
OK, I need to read back on the blog, starting on Saturday. Seriously need to catch up. Will BBL. :o]
Judie, (I'm pulling a "Margy" here--) glad that you are feeling better! I know what you mean about not being a "math brain"! I'm not, either. Hope the paper grading goes relatively well. I'm sure it's not much fun.
Lynn, I'm glad that Mai ate. Hope she improves rapidly in that department! Sounds like a certain little pup has awakened from her nap, and wants some attention. Will BBL. :o]
Hi everyone, Shirley's son Rus here. Mom was at the school this morning, tripped on the sidewalk, fell and hit her head. She will be OK, thank goodness. :)
She broke her nose and got some scrapes on her face. Kathryn just picked her up from the hospital and took her home.
I spoke with her on the phone not too long ago. She's probably home by now. I am at my office in D.C. now but plan on heading down to the 'burg tonight with my fiancee to see her.
Rus if you need to post again, just scroll up to the top and click the blue Shepherdstown Eagle Cam Daily link and it will take you to where you can get to Wednesday thread.

Happy Tuesday afternoon.

BBL
Whoo Hoo! A crane would do it!
Thanks Steve - Best news yet today.
Hi All---this toy store shopper is home
And my feet are going up..
Had a blast with my girls
Hope to do it again next year.....
BBL
Hello! Playing catch-up....commenting as I go!
"A day that will live in infamy." 69 yrs. ago....
I just got back from a Panda nap, and I open the cam at San Diego... Wow!! Kid Diego and his Mom are rasslin on -cam again.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Oooops......just asked Christie why she called at noon when she knew I would be at the luncheon......she didn't; it was Shannon--I just saw the name on caller ID, and didn't look at number. He was calling form his cell phone from work......now she's ticked off at him for calling me----sure that it was about her decision to quit the job......
Back before settling in for an hour or two.
Yippee! A crane for Friday? Can't wait.
BBL
The last paragraph of my first post should have said: "some may be old enough to remember" and "they weren't even married yet"! Duh....brain going too fast for fingers!
Argh--Jo....our shows are all repeats tonight. No fair!!
Well, I guess I'll finish addressing all my Christmas cards!
Oh and yes, I have a Holly Day of Obligation Mass - going tonight 7:30 down in Frederick.
Hi Judie! I mainly got 4 pairs skates -
You think you are ready for that yet??
Or would you do better with the lego?
I do love toy shopping. Wasn't really crowded and I just pushed the cart while my daughters filled it!
I am so happy though that the therapy is going well. That boot is heavy but
it really helps when you put your foot down.
RIP Elizabeth Edwards.
Lynn, I wouldn't call Christie a quitter - She had the nerve to jump from a job to see if what she is doing now is better for her. I would think
at this time of year that all the travel she has been doing is maybe what has her thinking about another
change.
A chip off the old block - hey!
Well if that is true, she will make the right decisions.
Headed out the door shortly
BBL
Hi all! Sitting here, relaxing, sorta watching the news, and sipping a glass of wine. Ahhhh!!
Had a very successful day of shopping. I am nearing the end, but told Jack it is going to be late when I get cards out.
Jo, you expressed quite well my feelings reading about the crane to help install the new cam. Whoo Hooo! :) Needed that wonderful news!
WOW----an 1800's printed edition of Audobon's hand-colored Birds of America sold at auction for over $10 million!!
Well, Lynn, at least she will hang onto the job until she finds another one. Sometimes it just isn't what we thought it would be!
Andy says to tell all hi and that she continues her prayers for all. She is still floating in internet la-la land. Very irritating, for sure.
Hi, Everyone!
Omigosh, I can't believe I'm finally back here!!!
Hi Andy! Glad you are back! Bye Andy!
Good evening Eagle Friends.
Need to catch up the reading on this thread.
I did see in coming on that Steve now has said crane Friday. We will just have to wait and see.
Judie is hiding from Darth after giving him the "Boot" and Lolly is nearing the end:(
Jo needs to pray for all of us at Mass this evening;)
LOL
Will you & Capt. Father Gene attend the Crane gathering? I want to know if installer person w/camera will be lowered by the crane!? I see this poor guy (in my mind)dangling above the nest!
Oh remember when phonograph records would get stuck?
Sorry Dana but that came to mind when I was reading your post, wasn't sure if my eyes were failing
sorry about the hassle at CHI
Good Too Cold WV Evening, Eagle Pals !
very sorry to read of the death of Elizabeth Edwards....very sad, the way everything turned out for her after she gave so much of her time and devotion...
My delete it posted twice.
If I don't get back
Prayers for those that need them.
Jo I will check back in to see what toy you would have brought me LOL
hope Christie's situation turns around and she finds that she loves that job, Lynn
sure is tough when things don't turn out as rosy as they appear from the start
naturalist friend in New York near Erie Pa has 2 - 3 ft of snow, but heard the Tundra Swans flying high above the clouds before the storm weather moved in, they were getting out of Dodge and headed our way.....I will keep bugging everyone to hear of any reports of sightings or sounds of them
It was Dec 6 2006 when I first saw and heard them fly over on a full moon night
Loretta, I missed the infant moon due to clouds I guess, so glad you saw it !
Dana...it posted 8 times, LOL. What a PIA to have to go just for registration.
Wanda, how is GG?
Loretta, so glad you got to see your eagle! Saw lots of frozen-over water here today, too.
had a nice evening with James, we went shopping for the food baskets they are working on at school, I will take our things up Wednesday and have lunch with him too, first time I've done that.
It was fun watching him pick things out, he said some people don't have stoves to cook on, so we figured that into our choices
have a mountain of things here to take care of.....
Best wishes for a good evening for everyone, glad to know that Andrea is back on cybertrack.
glad the toy shopping was fun, Jo,
is great to see Judie Post,
and I wonder, where is Shirley ?
xoxo back before bedtime
BBL
Back for a catch up visit.
Pleasant dreams to all.
Hi,
I have been crashed in my bed trying to fight this cold.
I am home from Mass - Put a good word in for everyone. I want to know who took Dana's trash can...did you already
put it out for pick up tonight? lol
Thought of you this weekend, Judie. Michael has a curved staircase, uncarpeted. Zach sits and slides down....bumpity, bumpity, bumpity...bump! He can go fast! Can you?
So Emma is barking at snails. Reminds me of Sassafras barking at ants.
Shirley - I sure hope you can shake whatever it is that is making you feel miserable.
A Lego boy toy?
Lolly, why not fix a strata for Th. breakfast? More substantial than just breads.
Margy, are you off all week?? Cool!
ROFL, Shirley! Hope you told Hunter that long division even with remainders has been around for centuries?!!!! I never minded it per se, but hated when a teacher would not set a limit on how many places to carry it out!!!!
Dana, answered your questions on my pic comments!
Mai just woke up again. BBL.
BBILW
So sad to learn of Elizabeth Edwards' death.
Ladies, take care of yourselves.
interesting and sad what you wrote about Elizabeth Edwards, Lynn
nope, some things one cannot ignore
glad to hear of Mai Ying's antics, hope she gets her appetite back
and Shirley: hope you kick the cold or allergy ailment, pronto!
James is getting a cold too, very bad time for that to be happening!
Oh, Margy, I wish you could work with James every night, too. You are so good for him.
Thanks Shirley
We have really held each other together through some tough times over the years
Lynne2, Welcome Home...hope your back is doing better and you get some good rest
ok, got boxes torn apart, going through the hand-made miniature dollhouse bench collection of years ago, sorting the broken from the not broken
therefore am disappearing again
Best wishes all folks and pets...for a good restful peaceful night's sleep
xoxo
I think I might swallow a couple of Sominex tonight.
I'm also going to go downstairs and adjust the thermostat. I think I really need storm windows and doors. It gets cool and drafty downstairs and then it gets too warm upstairs in the bedrooms. I should go ahead and do it before the year is over, so I can claim it on taxes this year.
I am sure James will always appreciate you, Margy.
My mammo is due this month...better get on the horn and get that scheduled.
thank you Shirley....you mentioned Sominex and now I have the stupid jingle stuck in my head!
The "safe and restful sleep, sleep, sleep" thing?
♫ take Sominex tonight, and sleep sleep sleep ♫
Someone living behind me has a bunch of noisy puppies. Yip, yip, yip. I wonder if they are taking care of them. It sounds like they are outdoors a lot. There have always been lots of dog noises from that area.
geesh, I hope not Shirley, way too cold for puppies to be spending much time outside.
I'm heading for a hot shower and bed.
Good night everyone, prayers for all!
Lynne, I hope the Sominex works the way they say it does. I think it is actually just Benadryl, which should help if I have any allergy problems going on tonight.
I hope it works for you....a good night's sleep will work wonders! See in the morrow!
I know, Lynne. I would yip, too, if I had to stay outdoors tonight.
Good night, Lynne. And good night everyone else. See you tomorrow.
Falling asleep in chair!
Time for Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)
Shirley, know how rough it can be. My ex was a math genius--literally. And if the girls had trouble, he just could NOT bring it down to their level. Many tears and angry times when they needed help. He had no patience with them, expecting them to be as smart as he was.
Margy, were you going to try to sell the dollhouse stuff? Or did I dream that??
Lynne, hope your back is better. Was there heat today??? How can the birds manage without it?
Mai's apptmt. is Th. afternoon. What should I do about eating?
I have a few jars of baby food....should I mix that in??
I am a year and a half away from my last mammogram. I must make that appointment...I certainly know better, what with a family history (GG). GG is doing well, thank you very much! Although she is beginning to show some signs of the reduced sunshine syndrome. I suppose we are all getting that about now:(
I don't think Father Capt. Gene and I will be witnessing the cam
installation.
I think I'll will pretend that I am she and see what he does;)
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
I'm BAAAACCCKKK....
Lynn, I would certainly give Baby Mai the baby food...anything to get some food into her tummy...Hope Lynne sees your comment and answers!
Hypoglycemia is more common in smaller breeds. It sounds like she is acting just fine otherwise, but if she is still refusing to eat in the AM despite baby food, I'd just give the vet a call.
She hasn't vomited anymore, has she? Keep an eye on her BMs too, make sure no diarrhea.
Good Night Wanda!
He was so cute...probably about 4 years old.
gotta go lay my tired bones down....
Whoa! I got caught up in what I was doing around here and everyone is closing down ...
Good Night Everyone (Lolly?)
Prayers for Everyone
Hugs for Everyone.....
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
LOL
Whoo Absolutely Hoo !
We have a Momster Birthday Today!
And it's "Today" Now:
Happy Birthday, Shirley, hope there are many sweet and magical moments all the day through...
You Are Special ! xoxo ♥ ☺
and here's hoping Mai Ying wakes up with a voracious appetite, no matter time it could be...but better in the morning after a peaceful night's rest with her "Momma" ♥
best wishes on all that, Hedgie
and Good Night to any remaining Night Owls, or those yet to perch on the blog this early in the morning
God Bless Us, Every One
xo ♥
Good morning!
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Margy.
See you later. I need to get moving here.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR SHIRLEY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!
Good Wed Morning.. I see sunshine out there but the temps are wayyyy down.
♪♪♫♪♪ Happy Birthday Shirley!
I hope your day is special and that the year ahead is good to you
Hello There, Could anyone tell me how many miles from Shepherdstown the nest site is, I live on the Maryland side and would like to walk the C&O to try to view the Eagles along the river.
Huminbird, it is about 4 miles from Shepherdstown.
Good morning, Huminbird! Welcome! It is not too far, but you will have to wait for others to tell you how far. Been there, but I am from TX and can not give you the details. Someone will be on soon to give you an answer.
Yea, Wanda! Knew you would have the answer! Good morning!
♫♪♫♪HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SWEET SHIRLEY...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU♪♫♪♫
Happy Birthday, Shirley! May you have a great day, an enjoyable day, and may your students all perform well! Andm, behave! :)
HUMINBIRD...that should be a beautiful walk and well worth it:)
How's things going for the family, Lolly?
Jo, I have been wondering about little sweetheart, Sophie. How is she healing, inside and out?
Where did that extra m come from? LOL
Best wishes to all, Lolly, hope there is peace and comfort amidst the mourning (( hugs ♥ ))
Happy to read that Mai Ying seems to be back to her normal self
Was hoping that somehow Shirley would be able to take her Birthday OFF.... Best wishes continue for a great glorious special day, Shirley ♥
Headed out soon for lunch with James, told him I would try to dress nicely, so No Bibs today!
Best wishes for a good safe healthy day, everyone
xoxox
Sophia is going with her MeMe (Kristen) and Aunt Jenny to see the Nutcracker.
She is totally unaware of what the Theater will be like. She told her
MeMe she didn't really want to go to
that Peanut (Nutcracker) thing - she doesn't like ballerinas. Anthony said he would love to go and Sophia told him, "NO! it's a girl thingy"
She is always dressing up in her tutus
and dancing around.
She has healed well and goes back to surgeon in one year.
Have fun at lunch, Grandma!!
Lolly, hope the day goes well. Good that Letha is a big help, but hope that tackling that job is not too much for all at this stage of the game.
Huminbird, good to see you. Mighty cold weather to be hiking the canal!! YOu may well see them fishing, but you can't see the nest from the river.
Jo, are you getting excited??
Listen!
Good to hear that Sophia is fine, Jo. Showing any fear of dogs?? Doesn't like ballerinas but wears a tutu? Too cute!! Hope she enjoys The Nutcracker!
Good morning all!
SOOOO glad Mai is eating again!!
Decorating underway....slowly but surely!
Mai just tossed her cookies again...:(
I, too, would love to see that radio, Shirley!
Oh, Lynne, those buckets of water were the last thing your back needed, girlfriend..... :(
Baby just played with and ate her first mini ice cube!! My dogs have always loved ice!!
AND THIS BABY DOES NOT WANT TO STAY OUT FROM UNDER THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! Guess she knows she's my special present!!!
Gene and I didn't really care for it:(
Good morning, everyone.
♫♫♫HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY.♫♫♫
Enjoy the day and may the students give the the gift of peace and quiet today.
BBL
Clouds have rolled in....wind has picked up....I hate winter---and the prelude....season can't even read a calendar.
Hi, Everyone,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!!!
Will BBL. :o]

Judie,
(I'm pulling a "Margy" here--) glad that you are feeling better! I know what you mean about not being a "math brain"! I'm not, either. Hope the paper grading goes relatively well. I'm sure it's not much fun.
Lynn,
I'm glad that Mai ate.
Rus, thank you so much for the info....oh I hope she is really OK! No way to celebrate a birthday!
We just got new thread, I'll let the others know....
Rus if you need to post again, just scroll up to the top and click the blue Shepherdstown Eagle Cam Daily link and it will take you to where you can get to Wednesday thread.
Thanks for letting us know!
