A bit chilly actually and waiting for snow! Nearly the WHOLE country is getting snow and here in New England we MIGHT get flurries. ACK! Would love a white Christmas! Hope you are well and ready for Christmas. I have been watching for the new cam and missed it. Logged into the blog on the MONDAY following it's installment on Friday, but still glad to see it even in it's current fuzzy state. Can't wait to see Lib or Belle return - I sure don't want them to abandon the nest, but don't want to see a new eaglet fall out if the tree gives up the ghost either . . .
Morning all. FuzzleMA......what happened to you??? Missed you at Open House. Tried to reach you via email but got no response. Thought you and Bob were all set to come with your reservations so was disappointed that you didn't make it. You can have my snow anytime. Not much--thankfully, so far---but any is too much for me.
Lolly, glad your day/evening was so much fun!
Speaking of no more momster falls....forgot to tell you that Ceil DID....she almost fell on ice in the yard, caught herself, came inside and fell into the kitchen chair and bruised her ribs. :(
One more thing, before I go...for those of you who aren't on facebook, I have a new Trail Cam video on my JUST FOR FUN. Don't know why the music can be heard here, but NOT on facebook?
I'm seeing a fuzzle cam and a FuzzleMA this morning already. : )
Much to do today that I will tell you about later.
We are having some snow here at the moment to add to what we had last week. This snow will not be difficult to clear off the roads like the last. Whew.
The forecast for Tuesday is 40 degrees. Heat wave.
Ok, folks, trimming the tree today so I must get a "hustle in my bustle" - when's the last time you heard that! - will keep checking for word on the two absentees and then we will all celebrate!
Just had the funniest reaction from Mai when I turned on the stereo that has surround sound!! She looked puzzled as if "WHERE is that coming from??" as she started looking all around!
Ha, Jo-----I know how that lion feels!!! Luckily, Mai has NOT gotten my tail---yet! But she did tear a hole in the knee of my jeans! Teeth are like stillettos!! Wish I could trim them, LOL!!!!! Still can't get the cams to play.... :( Makes no sense since I can get pandas and some others at NZ.
Wrinkles are still there, BTW!! Feel like calling her Baggins---but know that is already a well-used Pei name from a specific breeding kennel.
Keeping an eye on the Skins and Ravens Ravens right now are good but don't know how long that will last & Skins are taking a beating but could come out of it - Very rough game!
Lynn I wish you could see the little cub - he wants up on the shelf with his mom and he can't quite figure out how to get up...... He is standing on his hind feet with paws up on the shelf. He is tumbling back and forth while tramping on his siblings. lol
Hi BEagle - did you get your tree up and trimmed? If you did I bet it is starting to look Christmasy... I always feel better after the outside lights go up for the inside to get decorated.
I'm trying to keep track of the Ravens and the Redskins.....
Hi all! Jack and I are just sitting here, recovering from the weekend. Larry and Sandy left after breakfast. They have an 8 hour drive and were stopping in San Antonio for a few hours visit with their middle son and family. Sharon and Dan went to church with us and then left after lunch.
We had so much fun! What a blessing to have my closest family all together. For a while we thught that Michael might not make it, but he did, Joey did not come as he got sick. He did not get as sick as Laurel.
Now I have the next 3 days to recover before Laurel and Michaels families are both here for Christmas.
Back from movie, shopping, and dinner. Had a puzzle disaster. We took the puzzle to the frame shop to get it dry mounted and framed. But this particular store does not do dry mounting on site and wanted $44.00 to send it out.
Yikes! We knew we could get it done for $24 on site at another store, so we bought a frame and headed out the door. That's when the puzzle fell off the shopping cart and onto the floor right in the exit. We blocked the store exit long enough to pick up the puzzle pieces.
The puzzle is now on top of my car in the garage. Much work to do on it. Oh well. It was only the puzzle that fell, not one of us.
We saw the new Harry Potter movie; it was very good.
Hunter has a two-hour delay tomorrow. I haven't heard anything from my school yet, but have already requested a substitute because I have a dental appointment.
Wow, what a moon out there! Hope the skies will remain clear enought at least in some of our Eagle Corners for tomorrow night's moon rising, AND the lunar eclipse overnight Monday into Tuesday !
Oh Woof! Shirley...I've heard of 52 pick up, but 1000 pick-up or portions of that....shucks!
I think it is good that you decided to economize though....I have just such a puzzle that someone else put together for me that I want to get framed...someday!
Wow, that cam trail video is definitely a Must-See! On Wanda's Just for Fun link....and there is music on it for me, lovely soulful music, and as Jo said....a lovely surprise at the end....
I have this thought in my mind and know that I have the write-up printed out somewhere...about when Belle and Liberty first started their nest at the Sycamore Palace. It might be on one of the FWS or NCTC links and I need to keep searching....how the first year, was a "few sticks" and then by the following year there was one hatchling....any ideas on that anyone? Sure takes a lot of sticks to make a 1,000 pound nest
Also came across some screen grabs I made of the nest in 2006...wow, the views then were spectacular... that's when I was just watching and wondering what all you bloggers were all about! But I sure learned a lot along the way reading what you had to say
Naturalist friend in New York, close to the Pa border in Erie, has at least 10 feet of snow on the ground from snows of the recent weeks..... he gets the lake effect snow from Lake Erie...is anxiously waiting for the lake to freeze up which will reduce the lake-effect snowfall it's snoeshowing weather up there for sure !
Jo - I'm sure Shirley will come back on with this, but it is the 1000 piece puzzle that Lynn donated for one of the raffle prizes at Open House Dinner this year....the one of all the birds...Shirley has a picture of it on a post from several weeks back
okay, going to be working on cards and Christmas things for awhile...
Best wishes for a good evening....will be watching for posts from Judie and Lynne...
Sure wish I could tell you that I am feeling better, but no such luck yet. In fact, the coughing has resulted in a pulled muscle in my left side. So now coughing is REALLY fun!
I HATE not being able to do anything. I am not wired for it. There is much to be done around here and Steve can't do everything! We did get the tree decorated this afternoon though. I was allowed to put a few ornaments on. I was also allowed to put clothes in the washer, and fold them out of the dryer, but not to carry them up or down. I was not allowed to take the dogs out for a walk or a run in the field. Can't wait til Mr Buzzkill goes to work tomorrow. I have a thing or 2 to do while he's gone!!
LOL, you know I'm just kidding! I'll be MOSTLY good while he's gone tomorrow!
Shirley, so sorry about the puzzle! UGH, all that hard work....
Lynn, OMG it must have been hysterical to watch Mai try to figure out the surround sound!
Paula....really hope there are no lingering problems from suet eating dogs!
Nice to see Fuz back on here again!
Hmmmmm BEagle, what ARE you writing so intensely?
Looks like some sort of "weather event" is in the works for Fri/Sat. MTBR as the week rolls on.......
I generally throw all my back things out when I have bronchitis also....been lucky so far this year but that could all change on a dime as Sissy says.....
Wow, Margy! That snow fall report! That is the area we traveled on the way to New England. In fact, one night we spent right on Lake Erie. Glad I am where I am...right now!
old time friend of mine...used to get shall we say irritated or disappointed in me in that when I was sick....I would not take off work like I should have and could have....he was so right....
only thing is, he was not pushy or communicative enough about all that....too late now :(
Bet Lynn is having a wonderful time at Christie's Bell-ringing performance tonight
Hey Margy! Sure hope you can find that write up somewhere!
Wow, Steve came home last night with 5 bags of stuff from his mom....boxes and cans of all kinds of food, laundry detergent, paper towels and napkins, shampoo, etc. What a nice surprise! We told her back months ago to NOT get us anything for Christmas this year...they've been a little over taxed with his sister's medical issues and stuff. This was very unexpected! But I sure wish I had been able to spend some time with her instead :(
I heard on the news about a group from one of the churches in Denton Texas on a ski trip to Colorado... bus has had an accident, no fatalities, but one serious injury and 11 others with moderate injuries....have you heard of this ?
Lynne, give it until Wed. Any chance you can take Mucinex DM or at night a Tussin DM cough medicine. I know what you're going through.. just trying to throw some tricks for comfort your way. It will take a while to clear out those lungs! ((hugs))
I don't know where Judie is.
Lynn should be at the Bell Ringers concert with Christie.....
Zi-cam knocked it out pretty good, Lynne...thanks ! And your all prayers of course !
It also knocked out my taste buds for a few days and makes me very thirsty but I drink tons of water anyway, just had to add a few more liters to that !
Paula or another will be able to comment on the nest of the first year....I know eventually I will find it....but might not be able to look for that tonight
Time to go heat up some supper. Lots of left over food around here so all I have to do is reheat some food. My brother brought peanut brittle and then made pralines while here. The diet goes back into effect January 2!!!!
have to tell you this one, James's grampy, my former husband, always had the nickname "Bear."
James and I found, at Goodwill, a Christmas ornament, Adult Bear and Baby bear hugging a snowman...which had a white head in the likeness of a Bear...it was cute as can be. It was his early Christmas present, Grampy's that is....
Laurel is in Denton. Michael is in Dallas. Laurel does not like Dallas. Michael does. He is the lawyer on the approx 42nd floor of a high rise. His home in in the big middle of Dallas. Yuck!
Happy Evening Everyone! Been reading things, doing emails, etc., but don't think I wrote on here today! I just read about the lunar eclipse Margy mentioned & story said the total is at 3:17 AM, TU, however it will begin around 1:22 AM, I think. Guess this will cause alarms to be set if we want a view. Happening on the Solstice is rare & it was about 380 years ago!! Will happen on that date again in 2094! Read about Shirley's Puzzle---Yikes!! If you know the exact dimensions (or close)why not cut a cardboard backing on which to reassemble puzzle. If you're careful, you might not need to glue it. When done, place the glass or plexi on top, hold together firmly & invert to lay in frame. Just a thought.
Okay: I did find what I was looking for. This will be a rather long post. It was from something I printed out in 2008, wil hve to figure what link I got it off of then:
History of the NCTC Eagles
The NCTC eagles first showed up during the winter of 2002-2003. They started working on a nest at that time, but only managed to gather a few sticks. They returned to the nest in the fall of 2003, began working on the nest in earnest. They had a large nest built by January of 2004. They laid the first egg on Valentine's Day and two eaglets were hatched by the first day of spring. Both eaglets survived and fledged in early June.
The adults returned in November of 2004. They spent two months making repairs to the nest and exhibiting breeding behavior. The first egg was laid on February 15, 2005, and one eaglet hatched in late March. It survived and fledged in mid-June.
..the article goes on to explain that in September of 2005, a small video camera was installed about 10 feet above the eagle nest, using a local tree service comany, who used a 75-foot bucket truck, and had to climb an additional 10 feet to reach the nest. At that time, the nest was 4 feet across and 2 feet deep, and weighed an estimated few hundred pounds.
All this then led in 2005-2006 to the breeding and egg-laying activity and 3-hatchlings in 2006 that many of us were watching....
This same article had three pictures, two from Paula...one of the youngest eaglet doing wingersizes at the nest in 2008, and the other of an adult eagle perched on a branch in 2007
The bear center has a good video over on facebook and I can't find it on any of the Den news - The video featured our wondering, de-hibernating, Honey! There is a fence and Honey wants to be where she can find bird seed. She manages to get on the right side of the fence and then when she has her fill, she ventures back to her den.
Nest Building - I only remember Kent WA nest that was being rebuilt in another tree nearby... Wow - It was Star and I can't remember the other name. Loraine and Garry would communicate with us. I just wish we had a reliable 'spotter' down near our Sycamore Tree.
Is it what it is but we don't know for sure what it is. That is the frustration we are all feeling. I will keep the faith and pray that the nest is still safe for them.
Margy, Steve had that stuff posted on an NCTC page at one time. Not sure if the link for that is still up or not.
Lynne, what a wonderful surprise from your MIL!! HOpe the muscle isn't too bad. Mr Buzzkill, LOL, gal you'd better be good tomorrow! I can see why no outside stuff, but you should be OK to do inside stuff, as long as you don't over exert yourself.
Margy, sounds like a perfect present for Grampy!
Shirley, sorry about the puzzle! Guess ya'll get to do it again. I used to glue mine to cardboard, but I am guessing there are better methods than that nowadays.
The moon was really pretty tonight! Hope to catch it tomorrow night, too. Not sure about the eclipse, tho.
OK back to putting lights on the tree...I hate that part!
Yes, the gift your received Lynne, was from the heart. I would love to do the same for Laurel. What I do is just a wee bit at a time. What a wonderful MIL you have! Accept it graciously and give her love in return!
Jo, can't take anything with DM in it...it makes me nauseous. But PRED is my FRIEND!
OK, so here's a thought....suppose our pair have been working on another nest already for some time. Could there be something in their instincts to tell them to start a new one at some point knowing the original one can't last forever? And suppose it isn't ready yet...will the instinct to breed make them come back soon to THIS nest to raise a family?
I think that they can 'not' breed by their instincts. Don't think they would come back to old nest to breed and not finish new nest. That's what the Kent couple did. They didn't breed -
Lynne - just maybe when we awaken in the morning our Royal Couple will be there waiting for us! Of course the cams need to be up/running..........................
Hope you get better fast, Lynne. What a wonderful present from your MIL!! Lolly, hope all your family gets well, too & Margy's cold disappears by eclipse time! I know you'll be out there! LOL Jo put link for lion cubs & I heard on radio in car yesterday that they were going public!!!Think for just short periods, due to weather. I didn't think they meant outside!? Didn't decide on which tree to put up or decorate yet, but am trying to do dining room table.Would like to use a white & gold lacey runner, but don't know if it would be attacked by little claws!!! BBL
Maybe our nest doesn't need much nestoration. If they WERE building a new nest somewhere, why then, would they have bothered coming back to this one at all. I mean, they WERE doing some things pretty regular til we lost the cam. They could very well have been nestorating while we couldn't see them for those 2 weeks or so. Maybe the have finished ahead of schedule and are relaxing til mating time!
I sure wish we hadn't been without a cam for so long. Another thought that I am trying to push out of my mind is....well, what if something has happened to one of them? I sure hope not!
Paula, I can do SOME things inside, but the Dr strongly cautioned me against doing anything if I didn't have to, and under no circumstance should I do anything to make me breath heavy...and that really doesn't take much at the moment!
Well, I'm headed for my shower. Will contemplate eagles. I sure hope the cam is back online tomorrow.
Loretta Yes, it did mean Outside- They lowered the water in the moat and put coverings on the bottom of the trees (so they couldn't climb) Twice we have seen them outside. The cams have been changed in their dens and you can watch them inside now. 7 little bundles of energy at times!
wrapping a Christmas gift book, reading a few facts off the back cover: 1) an American robin can pull up and eat as much as 14 feet of earthworms from a lawn in a single day
2) a barn swallow makes its nests out of mud; it takes 6 - 8 days, as many as 4,000 trips for supplies and 125 miles of flying
Lynne, I think the NBG eagles, when they were building a new nest, were working on both at the same time. Might be what we have here. Our pair has been spotted together.
I have had the mini vacation thought too, but usually it's only for a couple of days, at least that's what is has been.
Another reason for building another nest is to let the current one "air out". And it could be because of the "bad Luck" they had in the nest last year.
righto Paula....and Jo.... I got that book at the NCTC gift shop !
Birds, Nests and Eggs might have to get another one...for myself !
Us local yokels should be able to make some more visits over the holidays....to watch for the Royal Pair.... personally, probably not until after Christmas for me I believe Dana reported that the security guards had seem them, Lynne
You gotta love it when you've already cleaned the litter boxes (oh wait, that was Steve, I wasn't allowed), you've had your shower, you are in your robe and slippers, hand lotion all slathered on, hot chocolate water is boiling, door is locked and lights are out.....and THEN Brother decides to deposit a gift in the litterbox. One that simply cannot be ignore until morning.
Very interesting facts, and I SO believe it about the Robins!
I mentioned a recon for a new nest the other day. Steve is on board for a road trip! But not til after the new year for sure. They'll stay very close to the other nest. Shouldn't be THAT hard to find!
Good evening. I'm settled in and caught up. Miss Mai did well while I was gone! She apparently missed me, tho'!!
Gotta clarify about the concert: Christie isn't playing bells this year----with new job, she can't be sure that she will make practices on Weds. evenings. :( But her MIL still is playing. The service is actually a combo---choirs and bells, hymns and readings. Joy Offering is taken nationwide during Dec. to benefit our retired ministers. SOme of them---mostly the older ones---really struggle to make ends meet.
Lynne, hoping you don't bust a rib the way I did the last time I had it so bad!!! Brace with a pilllow when you cough!! And you CANNOT go outdoors. I'm gonna tell Steve to rig up an alarm system!!
Shirley, what a bummer about the puzzle......hope it didn't get messed up or wet in that doorway.
Paula, think I told you about my sisters' dog eating an entire package of bacon, including the stiff plastic insert and wrapper. No sickness at all from the fat, and the plastic all came out whole!!
Well, I am heading for bed. I have instructed Steve to NOT feed the Polar Bears tonight because I don't want them in the house. He fed them all of our bread and milk. Then they wanted more and tried to get into the bedroom. It was bad enough when he was just feeding them outside by the fish pond, but this is just too much.
This was a dream I had last night! LOL! I think it stems from the fact that we are seemingly always running out of bread and milk, and the fact that Steve keeps feeding the dog people food from the table and instead of being grateful, they just keep begging for more. Polar bears because it is winter.
I think I need some real sleep, my brain is going all Cattywampus!
Sure wish Judie had checked in today...hope she's feeling OK!
Hi Lynn! Glad Mai did well while you were out! Sounds like the concert was really beautiful!
WHY can't I go outside? I'm going to have to tomorrow to take the dogs out mid day. They won't last from when Steve takes them out in the AM til he gets back home. I'll bundle up and wear a scarf over my face. I HATE STAYING INSIDE!!!!
Yes BEagle, do that...we call it a "cheat sheet"! Sometimes hard to keep up with everything! Wish I could have been studying with you on Peace.
Hmmmmmm....was just thinking.... Truth, Justice and the American way---there is very little truth and justice anymore in this world, and the American way is being undercut continuously within and without. I'm just sayin'...........
Lynne, your MIL did a really great gifting!! I remember my mom doing that once or twice when times were tight, and I have done it for Carolyn, too! It makes so much sense, and is so appreciated!!
Lynne, definitely cover your face with a scarf. Breathe in through your nose (to warm the air) and then breathe out through oursed lips, slowly. The dogs only NEED to be out long enough to do their duty. They don't NEED a romp across the fields! Are you listening to me????!!!!
for some reason I thought Lolly was talking about about the Dallas Washington game Lynn...what do you think?
cause it was shortly after the game ended :(
but you're right Lynn...things get discouraging for the American people in many ways....just got to look for the bright things I guess, wherever they are tucked away
sure seems to be a lot going on in Berkeley and Jefferson counties this year for Christmas for the less fortunate...glad to see so many involved in those efforts
Oh by the way, Audubon Society is sponsoring a Bird Count on January 2 - will post that information another time here soon....believe I read that they had one yesterday also I did that one year, it was great! and you count what you HEAR if you are sure about it.....I heard robins and meadowlarks in January and saw Virginia Creepers for the first time also
Sorry, pulling a Margy! Read back & had a couple comments. Paula, I hate it when lights do that. I have an old string of the mini-clear bulbs (back when they had 2 prongs) & if one burns out, all the others stay lit!!!I love it.Back after 911, we bought strings of red, white & clear lights. One blue one wouldn't light at all when tested. I pushed in each of the 100 bulbs, & nothing!!!Was not going to test each bulb. They're still in the bag. Many birders around here did the Xmas bird count today. Margy, were you speaking of a rare VA Creeper bird, or a brown creeper? LOL I've heard of a plant called VA creeper.
Loretta, I was wondering the same thing about the creeper! And wow, that VA creeper sure is a nuisance. I'm sure it's not as bad as kudzo, but it is here in great amounts!!! I go around and cut it at the base of trees every spring!
Good grief, you all have been on a roll this evening. I tried to read backwards to my early evening post, but my brain got muddled somewhere along the way.
I don't have to get up early, but I will be taking Hunter to school for his two-hour delay tomorrow.
I think we got all of the puzzle pieces, and they do not seem damaged. Some are still together, but we have our work cut out for us. It's now resting on the picture frame we purchased. As far as I know, it is still atop my car. I will have to remember to remove it before I take Hunter to school or it will be a mess we cannot fix!
Lynne, for goodness' sake, do not go outdoors. If you can get one piece of rope or a dog lead, make them take turns going out. We do that sometimes, and our dogs are surviving. Think about it this way: they need you at home, not in the hospital.
Well, I didn't get my cleaning and decorating done last night, but I did get it done tonight! Still have to put ornaments on the tree and some more cleaning and putting away...and of course wrapping!
I have trashed the 2 strings that didn't light! I refuse to fool with them!
Waiting for the last load to get out of the dryer and I'm heading to bed!
Yes, Paula, I think that when the lights stop working, you have to trash the whole string. There are so many different kinds and so many lights on a single string. I will usually try to make sure the bulbs are in securely, but that's it.
Sorry I have been MIA. It's been a busy weekend doing last-minute shopping and stuff. We haven't started building an ark yet, but probably should have! It's been steadily raining all weekend! Emma has been a real trooper through it all, and has been going outside, never mind the rain. I'm not as thrilled about it as she is--I'm still kind of damp around the edges. It's nearly impossible to handle a rambunctious pup AND an umbrella big enough for both of us, so haven't been using one. The big carob tree in our parkway stops the rain fairly well, once we get there, so have been hanging out underneath it.
Am really sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly, Lynne! PLEASE take it easy tomorrow, and DON'T try to walk the dogs! Just a quick potty trip will do! Prayers for your speedy recovery! Gotta have you feeling better by Christmas!
Hope you are completely recovered by Christmas, too, Margy! More prayers!
Am hoping that Judie is feeling OK--hope the infection has improved a LOT by now. Praying for you, too!
Well, it's getting kinda late, so think I'll turn on the night light and the porch light, AND the Christmas lights. Have said prayers for everyone, including our eagles, Belle and Lib! The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Hope we all sleep well. I'll talk to you in the morning. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
Time for me to get some sleep. The evening hours just seem to get away from me. I look at the clock and it is 9pm, nest thing I know it is 1am!
Jo, I have often wondered what happend to the Kent eagles. I always enjoyed those 3 cam views (I think that was Kent) I think Star's mate was "Spirit"??
Lynne, dear girl, you MUST take care of yourself if you don't want to land in the hospital!
Judie, shall we send out a Blonde Alert for you. Jo's husband is an ex-state trooper...we may send him down there!! Hope everything is OK!
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS SLEEP WELL PRAYERS FOR HEALING FOR SO MANY THANKS GIVEN FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... Sharon, how much snow in Bedford? What was it I heard or read about Bedford in the news? I'll have to go see what that was all about!
I'm thinking of taking my Trail Cam down to NCTC and see what we can see:)
Another busy day here, GG day with appointments, etc. BBML
It is me, Sissy, Wanda. You don't wanna get me started about the snow! LOL!! It is snowing here right now. I think Bluefield has been moved to the Arctic Circle!!!
George walked across the keyboard to get to the remains of my sweet roll: nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
yes ma'am Shirley. I will behave. It's not going to be easy!
Well people, it appears that thanks to the "Pineapple Express", a strong, wet weather system from the Hawaiian Island area (this is what has been causing all the snow and rain on the west coast, and those systems are the ones that move eastward), that many of us may have a White Christmas. I have been watching all the major weather sites, all the local news weather sites, too, and amazingly, they are ALL in agreement. Almost all are predicting a snow event, but none will say how much. Still too early. HO HO HO.
LOL! You know, it does snow on the tops of the mountains on the Big Island...Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea. In fact (more useless trivia to follow) the Island actually have 11 different climate zones!
Sure wish I had some chocolate covered Macadamia Nuts right about now.
Well, Hunter came back downstairs and apologized for being rude awhile ago.
There's hope for the kid yet:). (He had refused to drink any milk with the sweet roll and then said a lot of silly things until I was really provoked with him.)
I waited him out, and he apologized on his own, thank goodness.
Then he started talking about Santa. Maybe he got worried.

Thank you, Steve, for being on top of the cam problem - we so much want to see the arrival of Lib or Belle! Merry Christmas!
Good morning, Fuzzle. How are your this morning?
How are you, that is?
Morning, Fuzzle! Glad to see you back here!
Morning, Shirley, how are you feeling this morning?
Hedgie: wrong person! I WISH I could have made reservations! :)
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
Fuzzle, we will have a Spring visit to the Sycamore Palace. Stay tuned for a date!:)
I'm okay this morning, Paula.
Oh dear, I hope Ceil will be okay.
No more falls for this group.
Poor Ceil, I understand that bruised ribs can be very painful. I wish she were still on this blog with us, and Helen too. Really miss them!:(
Have a blessed Sunday♥
Shirley, are your eyes still black and do you have your cute "old" nose back? Does it hurt?
Sorry, Irene....I was mixing you up with Deb!!! My bad. Not awake yet!
One more thing, before I go...for those of you who aren't on facebook, I have a new Trail
Cam video on my JUST FOR FUN. Don't know why the music can be heard here, but NOT on facebook?
Have a good day:)
Eyes are not still black. My nose is not so swollen now. I have the remains of one scrape and some reddish places where the others were.
My nose has a bit of a different look, though. But it has been set now. Doc said I have a deviated septum.
My teeth and gums are still sore, and my nose hurts. I am getting better, Wanda. Thanks for asking.
Good morning Folks.
Heat wave.
There was an eagle on the WE nest briefly.
It looks like a juvie on the BWO nest.
If you check the BWO nest, at the left is the mention of a photo to see how cold it is there. Someone captured a beautiful picture of an eagle.
Good Sunday morning to everyone.
Birds and squirrels are visiting the deck and the cats didn't find it too
cold and went outside.
FuzzleMA glad you came to visit
All of us are awaiting the arrival of
Lib & Belle... maybe that will be our Christmas present
Ok, folks, trimming the tree today so I must get a "hustle in my bustle" - when's the last time you heard that! - will keep checking for word on the two absentees and then we will all celebrate!
Hi, Mema Jo!
I have a feeling that Belle and Liberty will be back at the nest with the new cam.
But in case that doesn't happen though, couldn't the blog adopt another nest? Another nest that is easy for people to access?
The position of the blog is centered around our lovely birds but nature may have another way of doing things.
Until that way can be worked out with the cam and all, would it be a good idea to adopt another couple?
Need to scoot to take care of the scads of things to do.

Chrissy has 9" of snow on the ground in Kidderminster. Had heard reports of London being bogged down....so emailed and asked her...yep!
Just had the funniest reaction from Mai when I turned on the stereo that has surround sound!! She looked puzzled as if "WHERE is that coming from??" as she started looking all around!
Would love to have seen the confused look on Mai face! How are her wrinkles coming along?
Full house of lions
Love watching these cubs.....
The little tail biter just got a growl and a swat from the adult........
I bet he comes back again......
I guess the way to get around the
mischievous lion cub is to Hold Your Tail Up!
Makes no sense since I can get pandas and some others at NZ.
Wrinkles are still there, BTW!! Feel like calling her Baggins---but know that is already a well-used Pei name from a specific breeding kennel.
Almost game time......let's see how badly this can go. With any luck, we will beat them 'boys!!
Keeping an eye on the Skins and Ravens
Ravens right now are good but don't know how long that will last & Skins are taking a beating but could come
out of it - Very rough game!
Paula - Samantha while in NY did see
the Lego Santa! She thinks it takes years to build him.......
Lynn I wish you could see the little cub - he wants up on the shelf with his mom and he can't quite figure out how to get up...... He is standing on his hind feet with paws up on the shelf. He is tumbling back and forth while tramping on his siblings. lol
Redskins SCORE! 13-7, C'boys.
Go Skins!
Ravens scored again 21
Saints 7
Two adults on the Hornby nest. Looks like they are cuddling.
Go Skins!!
LOL, Jo---he needs to use a sibling as a stepping stone!
lol He was tramping all over them
He/she finally gave up.
May be going with hubby to mall to watch all the last minute shoppers!
Maybe watch the youngsters at
Santa's chair.
Hi BEagle - did you get your tree up and trimmed? If you did I bet it is starting to look Christmasy...
I always feel better after the outside lights go up for the inside to get decorated.
I'm trying to keep track of the Ravens and the Redskins.....
BBILW
Gotta get ready to head out as soon as this stupid game is over.
Hope all have a pleasant evening. See you later!!!
I need to keep checking on the Skins.
Jo.
My son has been out and about but will help me this day put up the tree and decorations for that Christmasy feeling.
My son will get Christmasy thoughts when he sees there are packages to put under the tree.
Back from shopping expedition! Had some great success getting some dresses for Gianni!
And why am I not surprised to have discovered that one of my dogs ate the bird suet that came out of the feeder when the wind blew it down?
Sounds like a nice weekend, Lolly. Hope Laurel's family feels better before Christmas!
Lolly's had much fun. I can tell.
Paula, may your doggie "move" well.
Nice to hear that Gianni will be well dressed!
Similar plans for my son, when the sales are on.
Better late than never, I guess...

GOOD DAY
FOR A SUNDAY
TO YA ALL...

C(°Ù¿°)D Jim
Howdy Jim!
BEagle, they moved it in and out, LOL. Birdseed does not digest!
Surprised he didn't get sick from eating all that fat!
Truth, Justice and the American way has triumphed once again!
Fell asleep. My late hours and early rising caught up with me.
Has Lynne been on today? I 1read a little of the blog.
Sorry, Lynne that you have been so sick.
Sorry to read about Ceil's fall. This falling has got to stop!
Taking a break from the intense writing I am involved in.
I will tell you later about that.
Interesting about the bird seed. Didn't know that.
I do hope that Lynne is giving her bronchial system a good hearty rest.
To put procrastination aside, I will get back to my chore of writing.
Why do I get so many distractions at holiday time?
Boy oh Boy! I was trying to watch the videos of the Hornby Eagle Couple... Their actions really make me realize why I miss Lib & Belle so much.
Hello friends,
Back from movie, shopping, and dinner.
Good Evening Eagle Pals...
I am thankful it was the puzzel and not one of you that fell kaboom! Which
puzzle is it?
Wow, that cam trail video is definitely a Must-See! On Wanda's Just for Fun link....and there is music on it for me, lovely soulful music, and as Jo said....a lovely surprise at the end....
Well hello there Jo...did you and Ed go People-watching ??
Naturalist friend in New York, close to the Pa border in Erie, has at least 10 feet of snow on the ground from snows of the recent weeks.....
he gets the lake effect snow from Lake Erie...is anxiously waiting for the lake to freeze up which will reduce the lake-effect snowfall
it's snoeshowing weather up there for sure !
Best wishes for a good evening....will be watching for posts from Judie and Lynne...
xo
Good evening all!
HEy, I see nothing from Judie today...hope all is OK
well I didn't have to wait long !
Hi there Lynne....
just relax, turn some or all of this over to prayer, rest, recuperate, heal....
"this too shall pass..."
I generally throw all my back things out when I have bronchitis also....been lucky so far this year but that could all change on a dime as Sissy says.....
Wow, Margy! That snow fall report! That is the area we traveled on the way to New England. In fact, one night we spent right on Lake Erie. Glad I am where I am...right now!
old time friend of mine...used to get shall we say irritated or disappointed in me in that when I was sick....I would not take off work like I should have and could have....he was so right....
only thing is, he was not pushy or communicative enough about all that....too late now :(
Bet Lynn is having a wonderful time at Christie's Bell-ringing performance tonight
ok ttfn
But I sure wish I had been able to spend some time with her instead :(
Lolly:
I heard on the news about a group from one of the churches in Denton Texas on a ski trip to Colorado...
bus has had an accident, no fatalities, but one serious injury and 11 others with moderate injuries....have you heard of this ?
Margy, how is your cold...gone I hope!
Lynne, you be good when the "subby" is gone! You gotta get to feeling better.
those are fabulous gifts, Lynne!
How so very clever !
Lynn should be at the Bell Ringers
concert with Christie.....
LOL
I think we sometimes get our Lynn and Lynne interchanged...
I had commented about Lynn aka Hedgie being at the bell-ringing...
No, Margy, had not heard that on the news. I am sure I will hear about it soon.
Ok Lolly, sorry to have to mention it...is it Laurel or Michael in Denton, sorry I can't remember all that sometimes
I heard it on the Christian Broadcasting radio news a couple of hours ago
Time to go heat up some supper. Lots of left over food around here so all I have to do is reheat some food. My brother brought peanut brittle and then made pralines while here. The diet goes back into effect January 2!!!!
have to tell you this one,
James's grampy, my former husband, always had the nickname "Bear."
James and I found, at Goodwill, a Christmas ornament, Adult Bear and Baby bear hugging a snowman...which had a white head in the likeness of a Bear...it was cute as can be. It was his early Christmas present, Grampy's that is....
okay now,
better start crackin' on my evening plans
Hoping that Ceil is doing okay....
xoxo
Just googled the bus crash. Two were seriously injured and 8 were hospitalized. 38 continuing on their ski trip.
Lynne - the gifts Steve brought home from his mother came from a very
caring and thoughtful woman!
Okay:
I did find what I was looking for.
This same article had three pictures, two from Paula...one of the youngest eaglet doing wingersizes at the nest in 2008, and the other of an adult eagle perched on a branch in 2007
I think I picked up the page with that information at Open House in 2008...possibly from something that Paula or Sandy Burk had at the tables set up
It's as I thought concerning a 'new
nest' - takes a good 3 yrs to build.
the credit for the Eclipse alert surely goes to Lynne2!
thanks for the additional information, Loretta !!
weather report for around here calls for increasing clouds Monday through the late evening and overnight
:(
hope not !!!
ttfn, now, really....
sigh...Jo...I have been thinking that too just didn't want to say much about it until I could find the printout about it :(
maybe they have increased their nest-building techniques with more maturity
love you...xox
Yet, I am remaining hopeful with the rest of us about this year....and will keep the Faith about it until time tells us, one way or the other
The bear center has a good video over on facebook and I can't find it on any of the Den news - The video featured our wondering, de-hibernating, Honey!
There is a fence and Honey wants to be where she can find bird seed. She manages to get on the right side of the fence and then when she has her fill, she ventures back to her den.
Nest Building - I only remember Kent WA
nest that was being rebuilt in another tree nearby... Wow - It was Star and I can't remember the other name. Loraine and Garry would communicate with us. I just wish we had a reliable
'spotter' down near our Sycamore Tree.
And I have that history on the eagletmomsters.com site, under the history tab.
Need a break - some things to do
BBILW
Yes, the gift your received Lynne, was from the heart. I would love to do the same for Laurel. What I do is just a wee bit at a time. What a wonderful MIL you have! Accept it graciously and give her love in return!
I think I am going to go get comfy. I will not last long tonight. I am dragging! LOL
They
didn't breed -
Lynne - just maybe when we awaken
in the morning our Royal Couple will
be there waiting for us!
Of course the cams need to be up/running..........................
I forgot I was going to break! BBILW
Can someone explain how the string of lights worked when tested, but come time to put them on the tree...they don't??
I know, it's one of the mysteries of the universe...
Hope you get better fast, Lynne. What a wonderful present from your MIL!!
Lolly, hope all your family gets well, too & Margy's cold disappears by eclipse time! I know you'll be out there! LOL
Jo put link for lion cubs & I heard on radio in car yesterday that they were going public!!!Think for just short periods, due to weather. I didn't think they meant outside!?
Didn't decide on which tree to put up or decorate yet, but am trying to do dining room table.Would like to use a white & gold lacey runner, but don't know if it would be attacked by little claws!!!
BBL
oh well, it was a thought!
It really would be nice is there was SOMEONE at NCTC who was actually watching the pair, as opposed to noticing them. UGH.
have you wiggled all the light bulbs Paula? that is sometimes the problem...a loose one,...but which one !!!
thanks for reminding us where to find that history ! I just knew you would know !!
xoxo
Paula, I can do SOME things inside, but the Dr strongly cautioned me against doing anything if I didn't have to, and under no circumstance should I do anything to make me breath heavy...and that really doesn't take much at the moment!
Well, I'm headed for my shower. Will contemplate eagles. I sure hope the cam is back online tomorrow.
Loretta Yes, it did mean
Outside- They lowered the water in the moat and put coverings on the bottom of the trees (so they couldn't climb)
Twice we have seen them outside.
The cams have been changed in their dens and you can watch them inside now.
7 little bundles of energy at times!
Paula, concerning the lights...it is the law of perversity of inanimate objects. This is from the warped mind of Jack. LOL
The Lion Cubs sleep in a bundle while
mom gets up on the shelf away from all of them
BWE: Lisa should be pulling her hair out waiting for their new camera to come...
been thinking the same thing, Jo...
wrapping a Christmas gift book, reading a few facts off the back cover:
1) an American robin can pull up and eat as much as 14 feet of earthworms from a lawn in a single day
2) a barn swallow makes its nests out of mud; it takes 6 - 8 days, as many as 4,000 trips for supplies and 125 miles of flying
LOL, Lolly. Tell Jack, I agree!
Some interesting facts there Margy. I guess someone was watching, LOL.
And counting!
I was on a phone call chatting with grandson.
Margy they are very interesting facts!
That makes sense, Paula. But who saw our pair together and when?
righto Paula....and Jo....
I got that book at the NCTC gift shop !
Birds, Nests and Eggs
might have to get another one...for myself !
Us local yokels should be able to make some more visits over the holidays....to watch for the Royal Pair....
personally, probably not until after Christmas for me
I believe Dana reported that the security guards had seem them, Lynne
Gosh. It seems like I left to write only a few minutes ago and now the blog is full!
And what good information about Belle and Liberty and what eagles are prone to do about their nest. Thanks for all that info and it makes sense.
I didn't start watching the cam until the eggs were being laid. Watching the eagles in all that snow was an adventure.
Oh, but I wanted to ask, did B&L stay away last year? Was there a time that they were absent from the nest last year?
The absence of the cam seems to have made things appear worse, possibly, than they are as Lynne said.
yeah Margy, you are right...
And Magpie, I think your avatar is beautiful.
I have been working through the Bible on "peace" for several months now.
Gosh, there is so much stuff since my last post. I better put a notepad next to the computer to write all this stuff down!
Mai is asleep on my feet in front of the little heater. Maybe she didn't sleep while I was gone.
Worrying a bit about Judie.....but if anything was wrong, I'm sure Darth would have posted......I'll call her tomorrow.
Margy, glad you are feeling better!!
Loretta, the cats get on the dining toom table, too??? Argh!
whew, was afraid Dec 24 would be a USPS holiday...but it is NOT !
need that extra day to get my cards to their destination
Welcome Home Lynn..guess I assumed that THE most beautiful bell-ringer would be in the concert this year....hope you enjoyed yourself
thanks BEagle...it is from a card I received years ago from my now-93 yoa shopping pal !
Wish I could have been studying with you on Peace.
really going now...see you all, and the cam working, and Lib and Belle, in the AM!
I sure hope your wishes are granted!
P.S. Lynne - Prednisone keeps
me awake
Lynne, I wish you at least had a rope or a chain you could put the dogs on for a little while...
And that was a really strange dream!
Hope Judie is just tuckered out from activity!
Some snow is coming down on the deer on the PixController PA.
Good many deer (bucks & does) on the Wildlife Cam - ESPN
I was reading the Kent Eagle Forum back in April 2010 and the viewers said about no cam and a new nest being built.
I would be content even with weekly updates...
Sorta sounds very very familiar....
Lynne, definitely cover your face with a scarf. Breathe in through your nose (to warm the air) and then breathe out through oursed lips, slowly. The dogs only NEED to be out long enough to do their duty. They don't NEED a romp across the fields! Are you listening to me????!!!!
Gotta sign off now, so
Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)
for some reason I thought Lolly was talking about about the Dallas Washington game Lynn...what do you think?
cause it was shortly after the game ended :(
but you're right Lynn...things get discouraging for the American people in many ways....just got to look for the bright things I guess, wherever they are tucked away
sure seems to be a lot going on in Berkeley and Jefferson counties this year for Christmas for the less fortunate...glad to see so many involved in those efforts
Oh by the way, Audubon Society is sponsoring a Bird Count on January 2 - will post that information another time here soon....believe I read that they had one yesterday also
I did that one year, it was great!
and you count what you HEAR if you are sure about it.....I heard robins and meadowlarks in January and saw Virginia Creepers for the first time also
I am going to head on to my pillows
Yes, Lynn it is true. I'm just saying that we must do our part to see that it doesn't happen! Our children deserve the American way.
Good Night
Prayers for all
Hugs for all ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Nite Nite Mai!
Nite Nite Emma!
Nite Nite George --- lol I could go on and on...... Good Night
Good Night Loretta !
Night bandit is lurking, and I have been eating up a lot of blog space...must leave room for others
If I stay up all night I might get Christmas cards done, but I don't think that is a very good idea
Jo, thanks for all the lion cub links and info...I am still a little fragile with this computer..
can't check too much, and NEVER Pix Pa anymore...
Will say Good Night, be of good cheer, look for your miracles, they are out there for all of us!
prayers for all our needs, and thanks to God for many gifts given
God Bless Us, Every One
xo ♥
Well, Gracie is saying Good Night!
Loretta, I was wondering the same thing about the creeper! And wow, that VA creeper sure is a nuisance. I'm sure it's not as bad as kudzo, but it is here in great amounts!!! I go around and cut it at the base of trees every spring!
Andy has also been MIA today.....hope they haven't floated away! Lots of rain out there.
Bath time for me. See you fine, fowl folks tomorrow. Rest well. Get better if ailing! Prayers, and peace.
Thanks Lynn and Loretta...
I knew I shoulda checked that before I posted...
it WAS the BROWN Creeper ! LOL
xoxo
hee hee hee! It has been a good day!
However, I am very concerned about Lynne! I think she is delirious! You tell her, Lynn!
I have been in on the computer trying to catch up on email. I was so behind. Sent Chrissy a note.
Just finished writing my plans for tomorrow. I will be going to the dentist for work on my injured teeth.
I am heading to bed. Looking forward to a long nights sleep.
Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Hugs to all ♥
On the puzzle--Kathryn knows exactly what should be done to mount it and frame it. She once worked in a frame shop.
Too bad she can't just go to the back room and dry mount it and frame it herself.
Yes, Paula, I think that when the lights stop working, you have to trash the whole string. There are so many different kinds and so many lights on a single string. I will usually try to make sure the bulbs are in securely, but that's it.
Of course, with all of Kathryn's know-how, it would have been most helpful if she had not dumped the puzzle on the floor!
Woweee. I got my writing done. I will tell you about it later.
Lynne2....please listen to Hedgie and Strong.
You can rewire to rest and let your body heal, love yourself.
Why do I have a gnat floating around my nose?????
It wouldn't be a proper holiday if your lights worked perfectly the first time on the tree.
I'm pooped. Too pooped to hit that hay bale. I will glide in.
PEACE
Prayers for you.
♥
A long winter's nap is what I need. I will see you tomorrow.
God bless!
Hi, Everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA.
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SLEEP WELL
PRAYERS FOR HEALING FOR SO MANY
THANKS GIVEN FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS
Good morning eagle friends!! Praying for our cam to be fixed and our eagles to come home!! Hope all is well in your worlds this morning!
Where is everyone this morning? Ya'll all sleeping in??? Wake up sleepy heads!
BBML
Good morning, Beverly. I did sleep in this morning, thanks to a dental appointment. Just got up a little while ago.
It is me, Sissy, Wanda. You don't wanna get me started about the snow! LOL!! It is snowing here right now. I think Bluefield has been moved to the Arctic Circle!!!
Oh, Judie! Where are you? We are missing you.
Good Morning, Sharon ooops I mean Sissy ! ☺ Shirley, Wanda, and Everyone Else !!
I have a busy schedule today, but I plan to make time to check the nest cam...hoping, wishing, dreaming, of Eagles!
I'll leave you with a Christmas Joke:
What is a bird's favorite Christmas Story?
The Finch who stole Christmas
Best wishes for a very good day....
xoxo ♥
How long has Judie been missing in action?
Red birds look so beautiful against the snow. That is the ONLY good thing I can say about the snow, though!!!
The Finch Who Stole Christmas? Oh no. I'm going back to bed....LOL!
Good morning all! Had a very restful night and almost no coughing WOOO HOOOOO! Hope this day goes as well!
I think we last heard from Judie Friday or Saturday...
Sissy - I think because Sharon is first of the three of you on that avatar it tweaks our brains a little
best wishes on the dentist appointment Shirley, and for GG's appointments also, Wanda...
Love you, Eagle pals...
ttfn xoxo
Happy that you had a good night, Lynne. But that does not mean you should go outdoors and run around with dogs. Okay?
George walked across the keyboard to get to the remains of my sweet roll:
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Out of cereal this morning, so Hunter and I are having sweet rolls for breakfast.
yes ma'am Shirley.
HO HO HO.
So, snow from Hawaii. Interesting.
And Christmas snow at that.
LOL! You know, it does snow on the tops of the mountains on the Big Island...Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea. In fact (more useless trivia to follow) the Island actually have 11 different climate zones!
Sure wish I had some chocolate covered Macadamia Nuts right about now.
Mele Kalikimaka!
Snow in Hawaii
Mmmm, chocolate-covered macadamia nuts. How nice.
Sure would be nice to hear from Judie!
OK Folks, here is the time table for our eclipse.
Eclipse event Eastern Standard Time
Partial eclipse begins 1:33 am
Total eclipse begins 2:41 am
Mid-eclipse 3:17 am
Total eclipse ends 3:53 am
Partial eclipse ends 5:01 am
The moon will be pretty high in the sky and easily seen, hopefully from INSIDE through a window!
Mele Kalikimaka
Must go check on Hunter. BBL.
I am afraid that I will be sleeping through the eclipse. Must go to work tomorrow. Those of you who can watch it, take an extra look for me.
I will be resting up to walk my students through two days of research paper work.
LOL Shirley....love that song!
ALOHA!!!
I do hope that Judie has gotten that infection under control and is sleeping in this morning to recover from a rousing Christmas party.
Very quiet around here. Too quiet. Wonder what Hunter is doing?
quite not good.......
Good morning, gang. Hope all are doing well. Glad to hear that you slept well, Lynne and Shirley!
I did, too. Only up with Mai one time around 4:30!
Wind is blowing again...
Wanda, RED alert for Judie!!!

NEW THREAD !!!!!! MESSAGE FROM STEVE!!
I listened to this drama on the scanner this morning. Berkeley Co. deputies got ahead of this jerk to warn traffic in front......
