Lolly I have a friend his last name is spelt same as your maiden Hendrick. He was a friend of Ed's and mine. I have lost track of him. He used to live not too far away. Will have to track him down.

Margy in a comment on other thread you said, "oh by the way I am wearing MY orthotics right now".

wvgal_dana said...

Do you truly have to wear them Margy?

Did not have time to read back on the blog. We are headin' out!

Have a great day and hope to talk with you this evening, or on the road if my phone cooperates!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Happy traveling, Lolly.

Grabbed my laundry and put it on hangers.

Getting set up for what promises to be a busy day.

We have a yellow dress assembly today. It is about dating violence.

Very rainy here.

stronghunter said...

Learned that Luna does not do bathroom duties in the rain. Kathryn said she might not go for days. She says Luna's a "Polly Princess" when it comes to going out in the rain. Flash is not so finicky.

I left a note for Will to try again later. I would think there would be a secret bathrooming event in a corner somewhere in the house at some point.

Much to do. Back later.

Good Wet Thursday Morning - Thank you Steve for putting me in the right spot!
I don't have any rainy day plans.
Lolly, I am very glad your stop was so successful tracking down Jack's ancestors.

Shirley sure hope Luna holds it!
I'll keep my eyes out for others to come over - I am going to FB to check things out.

hedgie said...

♫ It's raining, it's pouring....♫
Nothing too evere here yet...just lots of rain--wet but not flooding.

Lolly, you and Jack be careful!

Wanda, will peruse your articles shortly.

Dana, be careful on the road----and don't forget the guidelines I gave about breaking in the orthotics.

Cinnamon is very much like Luna---she has shelter, but if it gets too wet from run-off under there, she doesn't like to go out. I h ave to lift her and put her there!

Mema Jo said...

Hello There, Lynn Do you think it will rain today?

Just got word that my 10 year old Toyota passed the Emission Inspection.
Should be good for another 10 years. Oh yes, it did cost about $500 in a repair but it was worth it - now I don't need to drive with the 'Engine Light' on all the time......

hedgie said...

There are some lovely photos on the Channel Isl. update!

hedgie said...

That's good, Jo! Hope your older model precludes all of thr many massive, recent Toy recalls. :(

Mema Jo said...

OK Now I feel very good. Just got off the phone with Norma
She sounds great - still exercises by walking with friends. Told her I would
call again on her birthday and would keep checking that she makes it to Lisa's on the 23rd. She said they both are planning on it! Add 2 to the list Lynn.
Norma says she thinks of us often and send everyone her love.

hedgie said...

Andy, sure hope you woke this morning w/ fever GONE!!!! Maybe all the outdoor heat is making your overworked brain fry. All kidding aside----any other symptoms??

hedgie said...

Dana, know that it's a rough day for you, but try to celebrate and not be sad. Ed is in such a better place. There's a big party going on up there!

Lolly said...

Bright sunshine, no clouds for our travels!

I love my iPhone! :)

We are still having heavy rains....

Are you on your send scarf yet?
You going to bring one to raffle?

This sure would have been a good road trip: Smithsonian's National Zoo
Come to the Zoo's Front Royal, Virginia, campus, this weekend for an unforgettable day of fun, tours, and activities in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's the one time every year that the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute is open to the public! You can get your pass online or at the gate.

hedgie said...

Thanks for making contact with Norma, Jo. Are they coming both Fri. and Sat.?

Mema Jo said...

I can't confirm that, Hedgie
For sure Saturday. When I call again I'll ask.

Now break time.......

Hi, Jim. Cooled off any out there?
Did you see the Channel Isl. update?

movin said...

Howdy, Hedgie.
It HAS cooled down to just under 90°, but we're in for some more hotties.

What about the Island report?
I read last week's, plus some of the daily stuff.

Good afternoon, all.

Thank you for the new thread. You must realize you had us all playing a serious game of "find the thread" this week. lol Hope the visit to Michigan was a good one. Welcome back.

Serious rain here in D.C. Got really soaked when I left class even with umbrella and rain hat. Chilly now in AC.

Shirley, glad the SAT class is going well and that the students seem to want to do their best. I cannot imagine attending a school dance. Never liked them. Boys on one side of the room and girls on the other as if each gender thought the other was something icky. Surely hope Luna decides she can wait. You don't need those kinds of problems.

Dana, have a safe drive and take it easy with the new walking accessories.

And a happy Toyota inspection to you, Jo. Always a relief.

Dana, happy birthday for Ed and all the beautiful memories you have.

Safe travels Lolly.

Well, time to think about heading home. Will need a hot shower and dry clothes.

Mema Jo said...

Then you can curl up for a nice cozy nap, Judie.

As Seniors over 70 we can wavier the emissions test if we don't drive over 5000 miles. Now the Honda probably has more then 5000 miles annually.

Channel Islands

Not much news in the Ch. Isles report this week ... some good pics.

But from a quick look at some videos in "Nest Observations", it looks like whatever happened to K-01 at WE, K-51 is in now.

The two are doing nestorations and touching bodies, etc., in the process ... bonding.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,

Lynn, thanks for the Channel Islands update--there are some really beautiful pictures there!

Well, I woke up this morning feeling somewhat less feverish. I just feel sore all over, and like I'm fighting off a virus of some sort. Feel tired, too. No other symptoms, though. Must go to school for a Transcription test and to turn in this week's transcription homework. Thought I'd better check in here first, though, so you guys don't worry.

Gosh, sounds like you've been getting a LOT of rain back there! Out here it's somewhat cooler (expected high 88), and after Monday's brutal heat, that's a good thing.

Dana, ((HUGS)) for you on Ed's Birthday. Wow, bet there's quite a party going on in Heaven! Know how much you miss him, though. Travel safely as you go to pick up your orthotics. I have a pair that I got 10 or more years ago from a "Good Feet" store. They are great! (Good thing--they were pretty expensive, but considering how long I've had them, and how well they work, the price is not so bad.) Just be sure to get used to them gradually. BTW, although it looked like I was up half the night last night, with the time difference out here, it was only about 10:30 when I posted. I have been panda napping all morning, too, so feel pretty well-rested.

Judie, sorry you got soaked in the rain. Hope a hot shower and dry clothes did the trick.

Well, need to get ready for school.
Will check in later to see how things are going. Have a good afternoon! :o]

hedgie said...

Andy, glad you are feeling better.....must be some kind of a viral thing. :(
Yes, I thought the pics were cool from Channel Is.

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Still working with a jerry-rigged system. Just want to say hello. We have had plenty of rain here.

Have to run down to the office to deliver a form.

I will see you later.

Bye for now.

hedgie said...

Well, repair guy showed up.....it would cost $433 to fix the water softener. I only paid $500-something for it 7 yrs. ago. NOT a smart investment to make!
Called a local company who will be here Tues. afternoon to install a new system....$899, installed. ARGH!

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie I haven't read any other comments but the one about the water softner. Who did you get?

wvgal_dana said...

Thank you all that made comments about my "love Ed". I do so appreciate it. You see he is in Heaven but still/always in my heart and mind. I took a birthday balloon to him today. Plus a cupcake and lite a match so he/or the wind blow it out. I ate the cupcake (no sugar diet) so he wouldn't eat it I did LOL

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Gang,
I'm back from school and a couple of errands. No more classes until Tuesday! Yippee!

Had all kinds of fun trying to do my Transcription test. There were 4 Medical Assistant students in the computer room working on a group assignment of some sort. You're really supposed to be quiet in that room, but these gals were discussing their assignment, and then two of them got into a rather HEATED argument about what one of them had written. Then the cleaning crew decided to vacuum the room next door. I may need to get some more expensive headphones--the kind that block out room noise. Can't afford the REALLY good ones, but may be able to find some that work better than what I already have. Oh, well.

Lynn, I actually got to feeling pretty good while I was in the air-conditioned classroom, but when I went outside, the heat sort of hit me in the face. It's about 89 outside, and was maybe 70 inside.
Do feel like I'm gonna beat whatever this is, though. Other than fatigue, soreness, and not much appetite, have no other symptoms.

Awwww--LOVE the baby gorilla pictures! How cute! She's a busy little fur person, too. So much to learn!

Well, think I'm gonna go put my feet up for a while, before Hubby gets home. Will check back in later. :o]

hedgie said...

Raining again here. Had stopped earlier after a thunderstorm.

hedgie said...

Andy, look for the headphones you want on eBay!

Dana, I got Sunset.

wvgal_dana said...

Judie I got wet too. Hope you got into some nice warm and dry clothes quickly (maybe a warm shower too).

Hedgie need refresher on guideline for orthotics?

I put Little Man's towel in the dryer for 20 minutes before I let him out. Seems he always gets soaked.
Then when he comes in he likes the warmth. Tried hair dryer he doesn't like it as well.

Mema Jo how many miles does your Toyota have on it?
I had a 5 speed when I lived just outside of Baltimore City. Loved it over 200,000 miles when I traded it in.
It was still running good. Only needed at catalytic converter.

Tv lineup sounds good for tonight Mema Jo ( :

Andy are you coming down with the flu?

wvgal_dana said...

I hear an eagle

Mema Jo said...

Toyota has only 73,000 miles. It's hubby car that has all the mileage.

Mema Jo said...

Don't see any eagle yet! Hope Spidey slows down........

hedgie said...

Dana, one hr. first day. 2 hrs. second day, but best to break it up into seperate hours. 4 the next, 2 and 2; 6---3 and 3; 8---4 and 4; then try going 2-3 hrs. straight through a couple of times a day for a few days and then try full-time!

wvgal_dana said...

He said by a week I should be wearing them 6 hrs a day.

Lolly said...

Hi all! We are stopped for the night. We are on the shores of Lake Erie. It is very cool and a stiff wind off the lake. We are parked by a pond in the RV park. There is a swan and a whole gaggle of geese. Took a walk and took some pictures and now I think they took off. Heard them going over the trailer.

Lolly said...

Well, I am stopped at the right time and have the cam on....but no eagle.

paula eagleholic said...

Wow, Lolly, ya'll traveled a good bit today. Glad you had success finding Jack's relatives.

paula eagleholic said...

Uh, Dana, that is a beanie eagle in my avatar picture....

magpie said...

Hi Paula...
have you noticed, that sometimes that the beany and other stuffy Eagles do NOT have the white tail?
Curious...

Hello Eagle Pals including our traveling Momster and Dadster...
ahhhh Lake Erie, my naturalist friend is from up that way, though he lives in New York

wvgal_dana said...

Ok Paula and all Eagle-Momster/Dadsters. I told you I had catacrat surgery. Now you see why I am glad they close these blogs down each night with and thumb scanner. I can't see worth a "blank" since they did the surgery!!!!!!! Sorry Paula that is a nice beanie Eagle. Will you met me at NCTC Open House and walk around with me and tell me what we are seeing????

magpie said...

Dana
about the orthotics
I have had two "rounds" of them, since about three years ago
like them pretty much, BUT, they do not exactly suit some of the shoes that I wear, including Sandles !!
But generally they are pretty good.
Got them during my sciatica problem days...and now, they are just good for general principles.
I guess my arches are not so good and this is part of the solution to that
Hope they work out for you

NatureNut said...

Hi All!
Lolly, your adventure sounds wonderful. Thx for the report6s. Can almost see and feel being by Lake Erie!
Dana, Blessings to you for what you did for Ed's birthday.Stay strong ☺

Well gang, have good news and bad news. Talked to the techies in India and I can now view other's videoes, like Paula's.HOORAY!! What's funny is that I can see everything like always on old computer. This guy clicked on some configuration settings and downloaded newest Adobe Flash Player!!!! I don't know how many times I did that months ago to see the eagle nest Live cam!!!Maybe there's a newer one??!!
OK, the bad news is someone here may be hit w/more than a wet noodle. I noticed today that there were NO flower stalks in the side of the garage bed!!! Under questioning, someone said they broke of the mostly dead stalks and those that wouldn't snap were pulled up AND "they'll come up next year" &"but new ones"!!!!NOT W/OUT ROOTS!!!!!
They were perennials~~bee balm, butterfly weed, black-eyed susans, all there to host butterflies, other insects, and birds! They were in the trash. I pulled out all those w/roots and replanted as the rain poured off the roof and saturatedd my back! You may not see that person at Open House!! TY for letting me vent!

magpie said...

Jo
I am so pleased to read that you spoke with Norma! Just this very day I was wondering if anyone had talked with her lately.
Cannot WAIT to see her at Open House !

NatureNut said...

That one quote is supposed to be "buy new ones."

magpie said...

oh dear, Loretta.....
oh dear....guess that "person" was trying to help out, huh?

This is the venting place, vent away!

magpie said...

but please, bring that person to Open House!

Maybe you could hide some car keys to some favorite vintage rods for a few days ?

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, Dana, I will!

Lowreeda....sorry about the plants, guess he was just trying to help!

Loretta, I never allow anyone to mess around in my flower garden..."you know who" doesn't know a flower from a weed unless it is blooming:)
Glad you were able to find the time to put the roots back into the ground!

Lolly said...

Oh, Loreeda!!!!! Think postitive thoughts. Think of something good about that "person"! Quick! Do not want you going to jail!!! LOL Clearly understand....vent away!

Tried to send my boys pictures of the gaggle of geese, but do not have enough bars over my head. lol I did get connected with Laurel though. She was at soccer practice. She is so much better. Hurrah!

We made plans for eating ribs when we return. Joseph gets his braces off next week.....he wants to eat Granddaddy's ribs!! ☺

Costume Lady said...

Yes, Jo, I like Frank's stories too. Forgive him, Loretta and bring him along:)
I liked his story about his deceased brother having "See, I told you I was sick" on his headstone:)

Lynne2 said...

Lorretta, I can only say OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!

evening all! Just a lovely day at Irvine. I cam in with the news of the death of Tony Curtis. Tracey, who is 30 and Patrick, another volunteer just in high school both said simultaneously "Who is Tony Curtis?" Honestly, these young people....
Moments later, I felt something crawling up my thigh, INSIDE my pants leg. STINKBUG!!! EWWW GROSSS!!!

So Lolly is at Lake Erie! We used to vacation there when I was a little kid...my Grandma's sister, Aunt Helen, had a cottage there. Many of the cousins would be there as well...great memories!

We've had just over 3 inches of rain so far and only a brief power outage while I was out today. We are very lucky, some folks have had much, much worse south and east of us. Looks like we are going to have another big slug here shortly.

NatureNut said...

Thx pals. Sorry I sounded mean, like Maxine!!!
If you ever see said person, PLZ do not mention gardening!!! Thx ☺
He would be mortified if he knew I said something, then I'd get the worse than wet noodle!!

Costume Lady said...

Speaking of headstones, I forgot to tell you that we have Gene's GGrandfather's headstone stored in our outbuilding...creepy. Want to find that man someday to REALLY put him beside his beloved wife and then, have the headstone installed (in concrete). It would be stolen if it just sat on the ground!

NatureNut said...

Lolly, glad to hear Laurel is feeling better.
Also read that Andy is not up to snuff. Hope you're better soon.

Been nibbling off and on today, so better just have a real meal~~~~

Lynne2 said...

oh Loretta, his goof is as bad (and as funny) as when Steve weed whacked my young Morning Glory plants not realizing what they were!

NatureNut said...

BTW, forgot to mention that last night, both kitties were staring at the ceiling in kitchen. One jumped up on dining room table for a better view. Fubby saw a Stinkbug!!! He tried to poke it down w/fly swatter, but thing it fell into light fixture! We are seeing more of them at work than last year.

Judie said...

Here to make a few comments before I fall into a deep sleep in my den of choice.

Andy, do well on your test. You know we are all cheering for you. And, I hope you feel better soon. Always hated having a test when I felt sick.

Channel Island pictures were just beautiful. Really a treat.

Lynn, with the new water softener, can you purchase a warranty? If so, would it be worth the cost? Just so hateful to buy a big-ticket appliance and have to replace it so soon. Grrrr!

Dana, sorry you got wet also but if you did while you were visiting Ed it's okay. I know he would have wanted you to have the cupcake. As for Little Man, I'm with him --love something warm after getting wet and chilled. I know he loves you for being so thoughtful.

Lolly, so happy you and Jack and "IT" have arrived at Lake Erie. Enjoy and sleep well in the cool breeze.

Lowreeda, very sorry about the plants. Hopefully many will return in the Spring. "someone" was just trying to help out. Have that problem myself.

Hi Jo, Paula, and Margy.

Very tired again tonight. Still raining so maybe that is making me sleepy. Will try to get back later to say goodnight. If not, maybe Andy will make sure the light is on when she sets our security.

magpie said...

buzz around town is that the WV burn ban will lifted Friday...but also, the October-November-December burn hours go into effect, burning allowed 4 pm through 7 am but not during daytime hours

guess we have had enough rain to offset a few wildfires

magpie said...

say anything to WHO about WHAT, Loretta ☺

Lynne2 said...

yesterday morning, I picked a tomato and the plant is near the old brick fireplace outside that my Megan Cardinal Vine is growing beautifully over. I stood up and a female hummer was not a foot from my face!! She hovered for about 5 seconds there. I like to think she was telling me thanks, and I 'll see ya next year! Only saw one other yesterday. None today, but I was out most of the day. Guess I'll know for sure tomorrow if my gang has headed south!

magpie said...

Goooood Night Judie

Nice tale, Lynne!

Well, I got gypped out of a visit to Berkeley Springs tonight due to heavy workload at work, got out late, and the rain made traveling just a little too iffy...maybe tomorrow night

Going to bed early...something has sapped my energy also

Hope sleep is good, restorative, peaceful...

My cardinal vine I got from Megan with all this rain. Is getting so many flowers than it ever had on it. I think I'll need to hook up a sprinkler system overtop it next summer lol

Wanda I hope you find him to so they can be together. Where did you all check for him?

Frank told this one: I liked his story about his deceased brother having "See, I told you I was sick" on his headstone." Would have loved to have heard that one.

wvgal_dana said...

Dana, MINE TOO!!! Way more flowers now than I have had all summer! Will have to take a picture tomorrow! Far exceeded my expectations and the hummers have loved it!

Now forecasters are saying worst rain of the day for Central Md will occur over the next 6 to 12 hours...another 2 to 5 inches. UGH. That includes many of you as well.

Glad my shop wasn't open today, we had a "river" running down our driveway most of the day. Have to wait and see what tomorrow will bring!

Costume Lady said...

Dana, I'm not sure of the name of the road where the "dig" took place, but it is right off of Greensburg road. Gene remembered a relative showing him his GGrandfather's grave, as a child and looking at some old pictures of the Wright house, gave him and an archeologist from Baltimore, some idea where the grave may be.

Hi, Everyone,

Checking back in a little early. Am feeling quite a bit better tonight. Still sore, but don't seem to have a fever anymore. Hope that I'll lick this yet.

It's down to 76 here already. Looked really creepy outside a little while ago. The sun is down now, but not long ago was turning everything to a weird pink glow. Very strange!

Dana, like your tribute to Ed, especially the cupcake. I'm sure he was pleased!

Loretta, so sorry about your perennials! Hope they will survive and come back in the spring!

Judie, hope you get a good rest tonight, and that you feel less tired tomorrow. It might be the rain making you tired, too--I get that way when it rains. Something about the ions in the air.

Well, I'm going to go watch some TV. Have a pre-recorded show to watch, then "Grey's" and "PP". Am leaving the night light and the porch light on for others. Prayers have been said for everyone. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. Sleep well, everyone, and I'll "see" you here tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight.
Love all of you! :o]

Thanks everyone for helping me through this "special day".

I did fall asleep in recliner.
Getting ready to head for bed.

Hedgie I have copied and saved your instructions for breaking in the Orothics. ty

You also mentioned to go to Wanda's Wishes. I did. That is the last thing I have read before retiring to bed. A true love story, I recall only a little of it. Was sad I remember that they hadn't found the gentleman's remains. Did not even but two and two together to think it was Gene Wright I knew. Like I said a true LOVE STORY.

Good night all and God please keep the stinkbugs off of everyone tonight. I just found one crawling on me. You know what happened God when the last one bite me. I broke out terrible.

Prayers for those that need them. Safety for those traveling. Safety for those in rainy areas that are low lieing. God just take care of everyone out there tonight please Amen.

Yes, DANA, that was a LOVE STORY, but no happy ending. We hope to make it so, some day!
