I wonder if a group prayer would be good just one more time--this time asking for Lib & Belle to remain together? How about 8 pm tonight? Everybody just pause a moment and pray that Turdy finds herself some nice young studly eagle and Lib & Belle live happily ever after....
Susan, thanks for correcting that address! Being a"foreign" one, I would never have known that it was wrong, since they often use such different formats!
Delphia said on FB that Valium makes her shaky and she will have the results in 5 days. The cyst she has are benign 99% of the time. At least that is how I interpreted it.
Hello Everyone!! Some of you may not know, but I work part time at Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro MD. For the '08 season, the first closely visible eagle was constructed & they have fledged eaglets for 3 years. They are nesting now, too. However, a week and 1/2 ago, an injured eagle was found beside the road 1 1/2 mi. away. Bird had bad wing~~was taken to rehab. No one knew where it came from & it could possibly have been our nesting male!No one had seen 2 eagles at the nest together since that Sunday. How would the female raise the clutch alone?? This AM, an eagle was sitting on branch below the nest. Nest is so huge, it's been difficult to see top of female's head in nest.At 10AM today, our Maint. Mgr. saw TWO eagles there!!!! Is it Dad?? This evening I could not really see anyone in the nest, was ready to leave when one flew in, did a lot of chirping from tree in front of nest.Someone flew out of the nest and joined him. Then the both flew up, doing circles & chirping in the air!!!Shortly, the female came back to the nest.Activity was somewhat like courtship, so is this Dad? or a new kid on the block?? Doesn't matter--at least there are two!!!! ☺ Hope pics might help w/ID since they won't wear their name tags!
Shoot, I missed Belle~~~guess that strange black blob at 3 o'clock is not part of a fish.
I could not wait to get home to finally share some good! news! Also, the 3rd osprey nest we can see from office had 1 osprey in it today & hardly any sticks. Construction's really happening. I was thinking the other night, Turdy needs to meet a young const. engineer and move out of the hood!
Loretta, SO glad that you have two adults!!! Hopefully it is your regualr male.....if not, sure hope he learns FAST about bringing in food for the eaglets!
Note to self:pray at 8:00 and ask for a nest for T to be led to so she can fix it up NOW for next year - seems she needs something to do other than this nest.
I don't understand what is happening. It seems so weird that both females are going back and forth to the nest. Trudy (Turdy)was just there moving branches around. Now it's empty again. I think that we probably are just going to have to come to terms with Trudy, isn't there a chance that is who we will be watching next year?
And B. Both on nest. Quick biting match Stay w it B. On Ts back biting her. Finally T flew off. Yeahhhhh for Belle. Now B flew off. Very interesting scramble. T was going to continue w her digging and B wasn't goign to have it!!!!
I think whomever Nature Nut is, she is right. Trudy seems very young and a bit confused. She's not fighting back at all. She's just standing there with her head lowered while Belle sort of attacks her. Do you guys really think it's not possible that this could be an offspring of Belle's and Liberty's?
Did Belle fly off in the same direction as Trudy? Wonder if she's chasing her. I swear, I wonder if Trudy is like a little girl wanting to play "grown up." Her actions make little sense because of the timing -- no mate and too late to lay eggs.
I am very upset. I dearly love my Craig, but he has a knack for calling me at bad times. I missed the entire incident between Belle and Turdy. I hope someone has a video.
I don't want to c either get hurt but B is going to really get tough. I don't think B is scared of T more like she really doesn't want to injure T either. Just wants T out of her house. Trudy would probably just chill there w Belle if shed let her. All so weird!!! Just crazy!
Turtledove, she's definitely one confused bird. Does seem too young to know what she's doing. Sometimes I feel that she's mimicking Belles actions with the fluffing of the egg bowl and the moving around sticks. You're right it's almost as if she's a little girl playing house. I probably sound totally crazy but what I'm seeing is kind of crazy too.
Pam, Trudy just flew in the nest, started to rearrange sticks then in swooped Belle. Looked like she was really going to get agressive then kind of backed of and the two of them were in the nest together. Then Belle started to get agressive again but not over the top because Trudy was just kind of standing there with her head lowered doing nothing but walking around. It was so weird! Belle kind of got on her back but didn't seem too agressive then Trudy flew off to the left and I think Belle flew off to the right. I'm still sitting here with my mouth opened....
I think B has been eating all along. She looks healthy and flies often. Not trying to conserve. Her face looks good and her breast is still full. She's very capable of taking on Trudy.
If she was one of Belles fledges she would have to b three yr old. Does her plumage look to that of a three yr old? The NCTC report indicated possibly three.
Paula, that was great video! I almost feel sorry for Turdy, Belle was very agressive with her talons and beak on Trudys head. I think "blood" was drawn.
FYI - I have A LOT of Liberty and Belle videos on youtube, for some of you that would like to see them during the past seasons. I really haven't had a chance to post any since Joy hatched, but I will be going through and making videos for the record.
I have such conflicting emotions, I always root for an underdog to pull themself up and acheive but I so want Belle and Liberty to continue ruling he roost.
I wonder why intruder is not fighting back though I am glad she isn't her behavior is quite odd from the research I have been doing lately. If she truly wanted the nest she would give Belle a run for her money, what gives?
I don't think anyone should have to purchase a photograph on here, just tell us what one you want and we'll try to tell you how and where to get it for free:) They are everywhere, on our blogs and Momsters photo albums. No one is suppose to sell anything or profit from this blog at all, MARISA:)
Thanks to all for pictures and videos I must go my neck is killing me and I have been sitting here for four hours Nite nite and I did a sort of stupid thing I clicked the little box to send me all comments to my home email so I can read at leisure God Bless this nest and all its followers
BEagle, someone asked if this could be a chick from an earlier brood. Belle and Lib wouldn't have any 4 yo eagles, that was 2007 when they lost 3 eggs. This eagle has the markings of a 4yo. If it were a previous chick, it would have to look like a 3yo.
PHOTOS of the latest confrontation of Belle and Trudy are on my blog...WILD AND WONDERFUL. Please feel free to copy any one that you may be interested in.
BEagle I was NOT implying any innocence, I am just confused by what I have read regarding other eagles trying to take over a nest, especially the one in Tampa.
Being a scholar my life the past 6 years had been nothing but research so I do it often, when I am confused I like to read elsewhere on actual cases and try to compare to what we are seeing and it is very different from what I have been reading, Thank you
I have to say, in a way I am starting to feel bad for the intruder...just in the sense that she doesn't seem to be combative. It's like she doesn't know what is going on. She seems so concerned about the eaglet??? However, she was trying to keep Lib from going to the nest. Is she confused?
Maine forum thinks the intruder may be a male based upon the size of Belle and Trudy in that video. But if that were so, my question would be, why isn't Lib fighting the intruder?
I think Trudy's obsession is with POJ. I think she was trying again to unbury him again!! She definitely seem submissive though, like she doesn't want to fight Belle! I'm still wondering if this is a mother who may have also lost an eaglet or something. This isn't here trying to take the nest. She wants that baby! Again, this is all just my opinion.
Just watched the video of Belle kicking butt. Awesome! ! Showed the video to my daughter and she said that just totally made her day! Way to go Belle. Way to show biddy!!!

Kathryn, Belle has an inverted V in the white feathers of her neck in the front, where they meet the dark brown feathers.
Oh I would love to have a copy of the paper Hmm to far to drive all the way from Florida LOL I just might see if I can find online
AND I SAID THAT WITH LOVE !!!!!!!!!! Lib was just frugal -

Good evening.
Shoot, I missed Belle~~~guess that strange black blob at 3 o'clock is not part of a fish.

Of all the nerve. Moving sticks around. Who do you think you are?
Trudy is in the nest.
Someone is above the nest, I hear the cam
Me too Robyn.
Friends at work are asking what happened on the nest. I start crying all over again.
BEagle--look at head...it is Turdy!
Loretta, SO glad that you have two adults!!! Hopefully it is your regualr male.....if not, sure hope he learns FAST about bringing in food for the eaglets!
She looks like she is marking the nest. Is that what she is doing?
And gone.
Hedgie. I noticed the mistake already and posted.
Thanks
Hi everyone!

Duke nest. Incubating.
I don't understand what is happening. It seems so weird that both females are going back and forth to the nest. Trudy (Turdy)was just there moving branches around. Now it's empty again. I think that we probably are just going to have to come to terms with Trudy, isn't there a chance that is who we will be watching next year?
Dana....where are the photos??? And it says something about being a member??
Lots of other egg watching going on, can you all post links to those other sights. I only know of the Cambridge and the Norfolk.

Oh no, where is Belle going?
She made her point! Whoo Hoo
T may come back....
They won't get hurt.
Belle is just getting the intruder off her property.
And B. Both on nest. Quick biting match Stay w it B. On Ts back biting her. Finally T flew off. Yeahhhhh for Belle. Now B flew off. Very interesting scramble. T was going to continue w her digging and B wasn't goign to have it!!!!
Wow that was pretty tough.
I am jumping up and down for Joy!!
did you see Belle kick her and peck her and jump on her...Yea Belle!
my heart is pounding anyone else also
Did you see Belle push her with her talon?
Formidable lady is Belle.
Got 2 pics
I only got part of that on Video, but I will certainly post that asap
Ba thump...ba thump...ba thump.
My ♥
That's the most aggressive I've seen B. She's going to have to get her game face on to get T to leave.
Our Beautiful Belle reigns for today. Turdy just looked lost, like she doesn't have a clue what she is doing.
Wonder what is going on outside the nest, now?
It was so cool when Belle jumped on her back.
Oh yes Judy All of our hearts are pounding - If we could hear all of them we would win 1st place in a drum corp!
I hope this is the final round.
We sure could have used a ground
crew to see where Belle went.
I think whomever Nature Nut is, she is right. Trudy seems very young and a bit confused. She's not fighting back at all. She's just standing there with her head lowered while Belle sort of attacks her. Do you guys really think it's not possible that this could be an offspring of Belle's and Liberty's?
At this stage in my life, I am believing that anything is possible.
And I am so proud of Belle. ♥
Thanks for the pictures and commentary, Lori.
Trudy really isn't aggressive. What a shame that no food was flown in, when in hindsight it looks like Belle might've been able to do it.
I don't want to c either get hurt but B is going to really get tough. I don't think B is scared of T more like she really doesn't want to injure T either. Just wants T out of her house. Trudy would probably just chill there w Belle if shed let her. All so weird!!! Just crazy!
I wonder if they are in the area in the tree is there anyone observing on this blog in person and not the cam
Put pics in album.....can't get them in right order....tried twice!
Hormones? Instinct?? We r getting educated.... If we can just figure out what it is we r seeing.
Belle needed to eat and get her strength back.
I need a cocktail after that!!
Anyone get that on video... I missed it.
I missed it too, I'd like to see video.
I had to LOL at this comment posted in the OD forum...
WHOA!!!! WAY TO GO, BELLE. A West Virginia smack down in the nest!!!
Where are the pictures posted anyone on facebook should put them on NCTC page hahttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002216403076ve
Pam, Trudy just flew in the nest, started to rearrange sticks then in swooped Belle. JudyE....too dark here to see anything if someone was there watching.
That is funny Paula.
Someone please post a video of what we just saw if you have one.
Maria, thanks for the description. :)
Can't wait to see what Paula has on video.
I think it would be too dark for a ground crew. Maybe not, though.
There's that busting out redneck I was speaking of earlier.
Here's part of the fight...I didn't get it all, I was feeding the dog. But I think this is the best part!
Fight! Fight!
OMG Its that late I need to get off the computer I can't believe its 8 already Its still light in Florida Thanks
What to think, what to think!
Where would the video be at???? I am a 3rd day Newbie
Hornby Nest.
Two eagles working on their egg cup and setting up baby bumpers.
The night light is on and Belle get yourself home....
I have the live feed up and
I will be checking in during
commercials during the next 3 hrs.
I will remember Prayer for T to Fly High Away to find a mate and
then to build her own nest.
I do hope that T's feathers have been ruffled enough to send her own
her way down the river.
How would I go about purchasing a copy of the photograph on your blog?
Was Megan out of the gh to get to see this?
Paula, that was great video! I almost feel sorry for Turdy, Belle was very agressive with her talons and beak on Trudys head. I think "blood" was drawn.
FYI - I have A LOT of Liberty and Belle videos on youtube, for some of you that would like to see them during the past seasons. I really haven't had a chance to post any since Joy hatched, but I will be going through and making videos for the record.
Click on the blue link in my post at 7:51pm for the video
@Marisa....who are you talking to?
Yes, Paula That was the Best Part
Hope you can post it all over the
forums and FB.
I am going to pray that it is time
for a new beginning.
BBL
I saw the fight on YouTube and did post on facebook to Pam page and Nctc page also
Great video Paula. That was the straw.
I think Hussy is going to pay attention now.
I doubt that Belle would seriously hurt the Hussy. If the Hussy was attacking HER then, yes, maybe.
WOW I missed that, I was having supper with Tori.
Paula, very nice catch on your vid. What a girl! U can feed the dog and capture nest action at the same time. Very impressive, my dear!
I don't think anyone should have to purchase a photograph on here, just tell us what one you want and we'll try to tell you how and where to get it for free:) They are everywhere, on our blogs and Momsters photo albums.
No one is suppose to sell anything or profit from this blog at all,
MARISA:)
Thanks Hedgie I will my email...
I think I saw a can of Whoop A** tucked under Belle's wing.
Finally figured out why I missed the fight. My cam had frozen. Shucks.
Excellent pics, Lori, keep them coming.
Been out working now to read the blog.
Belle is a mature female eagle. The intruder seems to know better than to attack.
Strong. I know. I missed Belle earlier because the cam stopped. Everyone was saying there's Belle and I thought they were seeing things.
I think that just because the Hussy is not fighting and attacking doesn't prove any innocence on her part.
She is still trying to accomplish a nest takeover.
Well....she WAS trying to accomplish it.
The intruder does not have the coloring of a 3 yo eagle.
Thanks to all for pictures and videos I must go my neck is killing me and I have been sitting here for four hours Nite nite and I did a sort of stupid thing I clicked the little box to send me all comments to my home email so I can read at leisure God Bless this nest and all its followers
Paula can you expound?
Posted the video on my FB
Is there a link to this paper report?
Thank you, Paula. That was pretty awesome.
I think maybe Belle's patience is wearing thin.
Posted it to my FB.
There are already 190 views on that video--if I am reading correctly. Wow.
Or a 5-year-old.
Wow- Belle is running out of patience- thanks for the video Paula!
Okay Paula. That makes sense.
You got it, Sharon.
Lori at the Maine forum got more than I did...here it is
Lori's Fight Video
PHOTOS of the latest confrontation of Belle and Trudy are on my blog...WILD AND WONDERFUL. Please feel free to copy any one that you may be interested in.
Paula, that link isn't coming through.
That is cool the way you figured out the age of the intruder. It cannot be one of Belle and Lib's.
Oh wait! The link is okay. I had to click at the bottom.
BEagle I was NOT implying any innocence, I am just confused by what I have read regarding other eagles trying to take over a nest, especially the one in Tampa.
Being a scholar my life the past 6 years had been nothing but research so I do it often, when I am confused I like to read elsewhere on actual cases and try to compare to what we are seeing and it is very different from what I have been reading, Thank you
I just watched Lori's fight video, Belle IS the bigger bird! It is Turdy tho, you can see the wound or dark feathers on her head.
I clicked on the top image to the right and brought up the video.
Trudy isn't much of a fighter. She seems submissive.
Thanks, Paula, her video shows the whole fight.
I have to say, in a way I am starting to feel bad for the intruder...just in the sense that she doesn't seem to be combative. It's like she doesn't know what is going on. She seems so concerned about the eaglet??? However, she was trying to keep Lib from going to the nest. Is she confused?
Amazing how she is being submissive to Belle, I wonder if they have fought in flight...
I noticed that too Liz
Lori's video did catch it all
No one in nest
Hopefully up in the tree.
Maine forum thinks the intruder may be a male based upon the size of Belle and Trudy in that video. But if that were so, my question would be, why isn't Lib fighting the intruder?
Or if it is a male, did it kick Lib's butt off cam? And now Belle has to kick him out?
Interesting--lots of speculation about this. It shows how much we really do not know.
Like you Robyn, I have been trying to locate any information about this situation with the eagles.
There may not be anything to locate!
We might be seeing a "first" as far as observations go.
I just think seeing that fight, bodes well for the future of Liberty and Belle.
Lowreeda, thank you for some good news.
Well, finally! I have no doubt about what it means when someone says WV smackdown and bustin out redneck. What a relief to enjoy a laugh.
The night light is on for everyone coming in later. Goodnight.
Stronghunter
Too true. Humans trying to figure out the mind of an eagle. I wonder if they do that with us :)
Serena
I think Trudy's obsession is with POJ. I think she was trying again to unbury him again!! She definitely seem submissive though, like she doesn't want to fight Belle! I'm still wondering if this is a mother who may have also lost an eaglet or something. This isn't here trying to take the nest. She wants that baby! Again, this is all just my opinion.
Watch this video that shows the whole encounter!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5IGO4c8Cu0&feature=player_embedded
Could this intruder this evening be another bird?
This is an absolutely unbelievable nesting season. I never would have thought this crap would happen at our Sycamore Palace.
Belle definitely kicked butt though!! It was awsome :)
Idiots at OD think Belle attacked Liberty....geesh!
Just watched the video of Belle kicking butt. Awesome! ! Showed the video to my daughter and she said that just totally made her day! Way to go Belle. Way to show biddy!!!
Nope, BEagle, that was the same intruder it's always been.
Almost split time.
