Well I sure never got to do the SPLIT on here before.

paula eagleholic said...

There are lots of vultures around the area, too. One time when Belle flew east and we lost her, she flew right through a group of them, must have been 6-8 or em.

turtledove said...

So now I'm confused...even more! :)

So there was no sighting of 3 eagles at all? Only 2 have been sighted at any one time?

The biologists mentioned that Lib was OK, but maybe they saw an eagle with Belle and assumed it was Lib. Or maybe they did in fact see 3 eagles. If only 2, then I wonder if Lib is in fact OK. So now I'm worrying.

Maybe on the visit with the eagle specialist tomorrow they can ask that question.

hedgie said...

Wanda, it was 11 before I got home....been reading and reading....blog, emails, FB....NOW it's time for the newspapers but my eyes are HEAVY!
Comment on pics----no info, but I still think drug bust!

paula eagleholic said...

We saw all 3 this past Sunday, and 3 were seen on Tuesday?

WV sUSAn said...

Turtledove -- I only said that WE, G and I, did not see three at one time last weekend. There have been several who have visited the nest at different times and said they did see three at one time.

And, not to worry, everyone is confused. lol

turtledove said...

Oh, thank goodness someone saw 3 eagles. Sorry I misinterpreted! Phew!

Christine said...

Paula, the lady I'm talking to tomorrow said she has been following a little, but not like us. I think she may only be able to speculate and not give any definite facts. Unless since I'm coming out there she decides to call someone up there and ask specific questions. Who knows, all I can do is try. If you have any questions you want me to ask let me know. I'm making a list. I'm also printing pics of the 3 eagles. I wish I could take my laptop and show her some of the video....hhhhmmmmmmmmmmm

WV sUSAn said...

Christine - what raptor center are you visiting?

Red said...

Of course while I'm napping things happen. Eagles come and go and I'm snoozing. Figures.
Tomorrow when y'all are getting bored I will take a nap and let the show begin. hahaha

WV sUSAn said...

So funny Red.

hedgie said...

Wanda, whatever you do, DON'T scratch your face!!!

Christine said...

The Carolina Raptor Center here in the Charlotte area. Savannah and Derek's home :)

Lolly said...

Red, it is a know fact...You snooze you loose!!! Has happened too many times. I do not snooze during the day, but usually outside and miss out.

I am now heading out. Been inside all day. Have managed laundry and cleaning of one bathroom. Also, sorted some piles. LOL

Back later!

Lolly said...

Known not know! Grrrr! Why do I proof read after I hit publish? LOL

Jen said...

I lived in Charlotte for 6 years before moving back to WV & I loved the Carolina Raptor Center. One of the things I miss. Was happy to hear the other day that the WV Raptor Center is going to create an educational center with trails and such in Fairmont. I'm hoping it is like Carolina's.

paula eagleholic said...

Thank you for your sacrifice, Red ☺

WV sUSAn said...

Christine -- we visited the Center there last year and had a great visit. Don't rush and plan to spend a long time. Lots to see and the staff is very helpful.

They were building an osprey exhibit when we went and that's probably completed by now.

The eagles, my goodness, I could have stood there indefinitely and watched them. When Savannah had her eaglet last year, the Center had the eagle area closed - or rather the fence was covered with a tarp so you couldn't see them. In the CAM view of the nest this year, I do not see the tarps. Not sure what they are doing to protect the eaglet from human exposure.

You are going to have such a fun day and I'm so jealous. :-)

WV sUSAn said...

Christine -- meant to say, too, I have several very good friends who live in Denver NC and visit them often. From now on, the Raptor Center will ALWAYS be included in my visit to the area.

Jen - is that the one that's in the Morgantown area now? They had some birds at the WV Hunt Show in Charleston a month ago or so.

Thanks, Leona. Yes, that's the Truder

Susan - That's the one. They were apparently given 227 acres outside of Fairmont. They have a beautiful eagle that I have seen a few times during their educational presentations for my kids activities.

Here's their site which also has information on their future plans.

Hi everyone.

Back from the wannabe adults. Easy day -- video about aging life-sentence prisoner population.

Thought I might contact the circus which is in town to see if we could use the elephants for a parade to the nest. More thungering applause!

Speed reading -- Wanda, what happened to your face? Can't imagine anyone not wanting to see it and you. Hope all is better.

Will anxiously await reports from those who make it to NCTC area.

BTW, I forget who (sorry) but Tyson's is only about 10 minutes from me (well, 3 hours in the crush hour).

Jim, checked on Phoebe's babes last night and they are really getting big. What is the fledge date expected?

Red, you are getting way too many naps, these days. Congratulations on your retirement.

Will be thinking of Bev's surgery tomorrow and sending a healing prayer.

Ok, gotta go. I'll be on later!Hope the gals on the ground come back with some answers concerning Liberty. I have a feeling they won't :(

WV sUSAn said...

Yes, Jen, they had Thunder there. So grand to see. And, awesome if they would build a facility/center similar to that in Huntersville.

WV sUSAn said...

Any word from the ground crew? I'd say they are too busy watching and not able to get a phone signal anyway.

hedgie said...

Wanda, soup kitchen video on FB was only a black 6 second screen.....?????

IrisF said...

@Hedgie/Lynn - Thanks for that explanation about the cam...we arrived here in FL late this year and I didn't get online until near the end of Dec. so I missed way too much to catch up on. Hadn't realized they waited that long to get the new cam up and running. Now it all makes sense.

@Wanda, hope you start to feel better soon!♥

Mema Jo said...

One of the three ground crew members is now home - Me. First off it is down
right cold and damp outside.
Pam & Robyn and I parked alongside the road facing the Sycamore Palace from a distance. We could see 1 eagle perched in the tree top above the nest. I was able to contact daughter Jenny and she said at that time the intruder was in the nest moving sticks. After waiting a while the intruder flew out & circled around to the top of the tree above Belle. Then we could see size difference between male & female.
They did linger some time then they both flew off and in the direction of the NCTC campus & I would imagine they kept on going to the river.

Phone service was not great - Sharon, Lynn then finally got a connection in Texas! Thanks for being there Lolly.

The sad news is that no where did we sight a third eagle - Liberty :<(

paula eagleholic said...

I would guess they haven't seen anything further, or not much of anything.

Mema Jo said...

It is good to be back home here on the blog. Thankful I am close enough to help keep tabs on our eagles.....

hedgie said...

NCTC press release NOT in our paper today. Now to read Hagerstown paper.

hedgie said...

Jo, sorry you didn't see Lib...:( Breaks my heart. Your call came through, byut when I answered, nothing happened, so figured signal had failed!

WV sUSAn said...

Jo -- thanks so much for the report and for braving the chilled elements on your reconnaissance mission at the Sycamore Palace.

Mema Jo said...

Pam & Robyn were staying later then me
I left at 3:30pm

Funny story- one of the two yellow labs came right out of his gate (the
private property at the curve)
He had is stuffed toy with him - a
little brown beaver! He would not let go of him - hung out with us - wanted scratching on his head. He and his look alike brother are the ones we hear on the cam at times.

hedgie said...

Doggie wanted to play, huh, Jo???!!! Good that he was friendly!

hedgie said...

Article not in Hagerstown paper, either. Geesh!!

Mema Jo said...

We tried to ignore him but he really wanted attention. We never got his stuffed beaver from him - only when he laid it down and walked away from it.

Mema Jo said...

I was staying after they (Belle & Intruder) left thinking that it would be a good time for Lib to pop in...

hedgie said...

Weather forecast: accumulating snow Sunday! Say it ain't so!

paula eagleholic said...

Hey, Jo, Thanks for going over, and thanks to Robyn, too.

The doggie had a different toy the other day, think it was a colorful ostrich or chicken or something. Kept escaping around the end of the gate, we had to keep putting doggie back in.

Lolly said...

Just came in and going back out. Just wanted to take a peek in. Jo, thanks for going to the nest. It was really great hearing your voice! Miss you guys!♥

See that nothing is going out. Back out I go!☺

Lolly said...

Wanda......One blossom is open. Going to go take a picture.

paula eagleholic said...

Oops, and thanks to Pam too :)

Sorry you didn't see Lib :(

Red said...

Ok get ready for some nest action. I'm leaving for a while. Something always happens when I leave. See ya later, gator

paula eagleholic said...

Now, if you want a really good laugh, I'll give you a synopsis of what they're saying on the OD forum....that's Lib in the nest with a head wound. Lib and Belle are together, and Lib has been so roughed up that we don't recognize him, and we are in denial that that is Liberty (refering to the eagle with the mark on the head).

Oh, and the experts we consulted don't know sh**...

OMG, that is all too funny over there.

mariadangeloart said...

Insanity...... :\

Thanks dear one for being our eyes on the ground and in the sky at the Sycamore Palace..and also to PammySue and Robyn

and to the cell phone reporters and bloggers...

You mentioned you could observe some size differences...can you talk about that just a wee bit more, when you thaw out

Please and Thanks!
I know what you mean but I think I just want to hear a little more about it

I hope Wanda and Gene take a ride down also !

Harbinger said...

I couldn't check in here at all at work, just a few brief glimpses of the empty nest, but it looks like there has been more digging around the egg cup.

magpie said...

I want to go to that place near Fairmont you are talking about Susan and..is it Jen ?

paula eagleholic said...

Harb, the Truder paid a visit, maybe 10-15 minutes long, no other eagle with him, but it appears Belle was above the nest.

magpie said...

newspaper, what's a newspaper, oh I think I remember...

magpie said...

christine !
am very excited hearing about your visit tomorrow to the Raptor Center near you !!

Robyn said...

Back home, to add what Jo said when the intruder flew to the tree branch above Belle she started making her noises but only briefly so maybe she is a little annoyed or not, sadly I don't speak eagle :(.

As soon as Pam and I turned to walk back to our vehicles Pam turned back around to catch the eagles flying off to the right of the tree shame we missed who flew off first no doubt Belle with the intruder right behind...

No sign of Lib

Ugh Paula OD channel *shudder* trying to stay away...

magpie said...

yeah harbingerdc, hate it when I can't check things while I am working but at least I have LIVE FEED there !!!

Robyn said...

Pam and I decided to sit in the car as it is really cool down there especially when the wind picks up, we kept our eyes open but nothing from when Jo left

magpie said...

if I don't comment on the great links that folks are posting here it is because it is impossible for me to stray too far from this blog and the Still Cam....
in my dreams, I will catch up

Mema Jo said...

Margy I can't give actual measurements
I can only say that who we assumed was Belle was larger-fuller body then the intruder. The intruder sat up above Belle and so with the naked eye you could see the size difference. The intruder had a slim body.
Did not have a zoom camera with any of us. Pam got a digital cam pic. It may answer your question.

hedgie said...

Dang---it is spitting snow and sleet here now.

bev. said...

Just checking in again.
thank-you to the ground crew.

Hopefully someone spots Lib at one of their visits, and that is warmer for those going soon.

Quite perplexing . but as far as Lib goes, no news is good news. What I mean here , is he may just be licking his wounds somewhere.

After my falocn was defeated first time, she went not too far away and got healthy. Lucky for me she had a transmitter.
would that not have been nice if Lib had had one.

Out again
still praying for LIb

magpie said...

that is just fine Jo....
Thank You !!!

I think you must be aware of the Eagles Nest with two big chicks in at the Sutton Avian Research Center in Okla:

Sutton Okla Eagle Nest

just checking with you on that

NatureNut said...

Hello everyone! Just starting to get on here---waiting for eyes to get normal after Dr. drops!
WOW, Thx Jo, Pam, & Robyn for visiting Palace. Too bad not everyone was seen.

Sharon, I am so glad you asked Dr. Sharpe about Belle covering egg & chick. I (bird brain, but not Eagle brain) thought she might have done that because of intruder~~~protection of hers.
I hope Lib appears. It would be so frustrating if Belle took up with a destructive gigolo. :>(

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie - you really shouldn't kid around about SNOW or SLEET :<(

Hi, Gang,
Gosh, it's Good Afternoon! I was so tired last night I couldn't get to sleep right, so didn't sleep much. Slept in today, and have been napping a bit. Better now!

I just had a thought. We should check our pics and videos VERY carefully to compare the dark feathers on Truder's head. What if there are actually TWO intruders--a female, AND a male, of about the same age, and therefore with similar "dirty" markings?! Was having nightmares about that last night--no wonder I didn't sleep well!!! It could be a possibility, though. Heck, at this point NOTHING would surprise me!

Think I'm going to just shut up and watch, and see what plays out. I'm worn out with speculation and my concern for Belle and Lib. Gotta say that we are DEFINITELY rewriting the books about our eagles! Just wish we had a cam that showed the area adjacent to the nest, and that could zoom out farther! I have a feeling that's where most of the action is taking place! Shoot, if I lived near enough to the nest, I think I would be hiding out along the road with really good binocs and a telescope! Ah, well. Time will tell--and I'm rooting for Belle and Lib!
Still have a boatload of homework to stay on task with, so gotta keep busy. (Lord, will I EVER graduate?!) Have to go drop off some work at school so my teacher doesn't think I've been just sitting around eating chocolates and reading "True Story" (anyone remember THAT magazine? I do!)! Don't think it's still being published.
I just about give up on getting caught up on the blog--there's not enough time! Just know that I am praying for all of you, "oldies" and "newbies," and I couldn't care more about each and every one of you! I consider ALL of you to be both friends AND family! We will get through this eagle trauma together. I'll be back later tonight to check in. Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC day! Later, alligators! :o]

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Good evening friends! I have a question. I thought eagles mated for life, not till some young stud walks by!! Is that not the case or is Belle the exception to this?

Robyn said...

Here is the difference I caught judging by these 2 links

First link scroll down to last eagle pic and look at the feathers, that is how the intruder looked who was on top branch

http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/978002

This second photo depicts how Belle looked, eagle on right

http://www.dphoto.us/forumphotos/data/1327/Bald_Eagles.jpg

Liz said...

Susan, that is a very good question, and I wonder too. If they mate for life, why would a mate choose a more studly mate? Not only that, Belle had a mate, with chick and egg in the nest! Not like it was courting season.

paula eagleholic said...

Sissy, most do, but there have been a lot of changes in the Channel islands pairs, so I think it must happen more than we previously thought.

magpie said...

Hang in there Andrea, you will be a "free woman" one of these days..

Just tell your teacher you have been watching WV history in the making with your friends

OK Robyn
going to try those links
Thanks in Advance

Robyn said...

Liz, with eagle populations booming lately the numbers have really soared regarding Bald Eagles in the wild, prior to this numbers have been down, maybe much of what is happening today in the world of eagles may well be new to many biologists who have been studying bald eagles and their kind.

This will be an interesting next few years who knows they may learn more info on our national bird that they never knew before...

magpie said...

Kind of have to feel for Belle in human female terms

being torn between two lovers
not an easy spot to be in....

FuzzleMT said...

@Eagle-Eyed's Sissy, that's a question I have too! I know "survival of the fittest," but REALLY???? Lib is Belle's LIFE MATE!
@Christine, is this a question you would ask tomorrow on your visit?

CarolAnne said...

@Robyn @Liz - along the lines of Robyn's thinking, maybe the past behavior (mating for life, etc) was due to few choices among the eagles. Now as the eagle population increases their behavior will also adapt (change) adjusting to the local population & choices as they see fit.

magpie said...

great picture links, Robyn,
thank you...surprised as H that I could open them up

Paula was that photographer with you at Conowingo, named Keith ??? Man named Keith has the pictures on that first link of Robyn's

Liz said...

Robin, Schicke, those are interesting new theories and you may have something there, but if I made the rules.....I'd say.....only during courting season! Not when there is a clutch in the nest!

hedgie said...

Jo.....I am NOT joking!!!! It really was S&S!!! And listen to weekend forecast!

Margy, I HAVE bitten like that---many times!

Loretta: question, please....is your Dad still alive in Pinellas?

Harbinger said...

Just finished reading from this morning on up and now have to run. Hubby says one of the doggies is yaking.

amberr30 said...

It breaks my heart that y'all didn't see Lib today. I know she is supposed to mate with the strongest best male but I don't want her with this heathen he killed "our" paddy and the unhatched one. He isn't a good mate for her, he kept a loving wonderful eagle daddy away from his family. He didn't provide for Belle and Paddy, what makes her think he will be any better with their eaglets? Uggghhh. I want Lib back

IrisF said...

Margy, I thought I was the only person in the world who did that. Bite cheek usually, but not always the cheek...sure does hurt!!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I have arrived in Bluefield. Going to a meeting.

Me and Sissy decided that Lib must have had an affair with a turkey vulture or some skank Ike that and made Belle mad.

hedgie said...

Andy, hang in there, gal. You WILL make it through! You have done SO well, and we are so proud of you! Robyn, too!

Robyn said...

Amber no one killed Patty this is life in the wild, sadly it wasn't meant to be. Let us be grateful the eagle population is getting stronger, alas it is happening to the nest we watch.

Robyn said...

oops spelled the wee ones name wrong I see

turtledove said...

Thinking like a human here, but maybe Belle is hanging with this new guy because she figures if she stays with Lib, it'll happen again next year, and she doesn't want to lose another baby. But if Lib proves his strength between now and next breeding season by engaging the intruder and winning conclusively, she'll go back to Lib.

Or maybe she just isn't thinking clearly right now.

Scott said...

@Robyn ....well put

Robyn said...

Scott I couldn't find your email so I am going to post the map on momsters site so if anyone else wants to go it is there. But I will say this, many of the people that go there either fish and drink beer, or sit in water and drink beer or bring their dogs to the river and drink beer, in other words they drink down there but they are just out having fun with friends etc and not looking for trouble...

You may even be offered a ... beer ;)

bev. said...

Good evening.
Margy, I bite my cheek all the time It is a real B*****.

The intruder, did not kill Paddy Joy or the the egg, and he did not provide for Belle because his hormones would not have kicked in to do that.

They smell the eggs to get their hormones working. Have you ever noticed how they smell the eggs after they are laid.
He was not around for eggs etc.

this is a juvenile, so that is why it looks unkempt.

I am very sad here, as you are all but I cannot blame this intruder. As the raptors increase in areas , this is going to happen more and more. It is not easy, but....

they mate for life unless one dies or one is defeated. the remaining eagle will stay at the nest site.

This is not saying that Lib cannot try and reclaim his nest later. Or he may have decided to move on.

bev. said...

Also biologists are learning new things every day.

bev. said...

Everything that is happening is instinct, survival of a species.

but we as humans do not like it. I know I do not and have had to get tougher over the years, but I shed a lot of tears and loose lots of sleep in breeding season.

hedgie said...

Sofa and Jeopardy time for me. BBIALW if I don't fall asleep!

PammySue said...

Hello all. Hope you are having a good day.

I just got home after visiting the nest. I know you already know that we saw the intruder and Belle, but not Liberty. The visit was about 2 hours--from 2:45 til 4:45 p.m.

Don't get too excited, but I took a couple of pics with my little Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera. It is a great little camera for snapshots, but not so much for zooming in on eagle's nests. :(

I put them on the Facebook page. Here is the link (I hope):

Jo. We got lots o doggy lovins too. Nicki is the smaller w the toy, very social. Big Jr is 16 and a chow lab mix w arthritis. No wonder he's cranky.

Thanks to u, Pam & Robyn for the nest visit. Agree w remarks about size and plumage. TRudys juvie feathers appear to b unkempt which makes T look bigger at times. When perched looks bigger. Wing feathers r a little longer. Adult plumage will go and thus the shrinking eagle.

I think somebody just landed n the tree.

paula eagleholic said...

Luck of the draw on the cam timing out...been luckier the last couple of days, coz I don't think as many are watching...have some go as long as 3 hours.

Maybe that will not work if you do not have a Facebook account, though. Is that what you are saying?

I will try to post them to my profile on here. I have never done that, so give me a few minutes, OK?

It's probably a good idea to do that because I know others are not on Facebook either. I'll let you know when/if I am successful.

EJ is the female on the Loch Garten nest mom saw her eating a fish this afternoon, she is awaiting Odin

Robyn said...

isla elsa I am so confused, I don't watch them but mom tells me about them

Lady aka Isla returned 23rd last year. The 30th two yrs ago. Unless someone else claims the nest (oh the drama) I'm not going to get worried til the 30th. Planned worrying.

Did Red get back home? Nest is awfully quiet.

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, I think it might have been Henry with EJ?

paula eagleholic said...

I'm going to try and get some dinner before I end up eating ice cream at midnight instead of dinner...

Oh, and will work on the intruder videos from today, for the record.

mariadangeloart said...

A bit upset that Liberty wasn't seen. That's sad. I hope whoever goes Saturday sees him. :(

NatureNut said...

Thx, Robyn.I'll have to remember Odin is EJ's mate.Yes, I think Chrissy calls LOtL female Isla. I really never saw that on old blog. Some call her Lady (of the Loch) plus other names.

Judie said...

Lowreeda, get an attorney and make sure your get Mirandized -- seriously, hope that might have just been some additional pressure for something like caffeine.

Well, the intruder returned and I did see some messing with a stick or two. Then departed into the night. No sign of Belle or Lib.

Need to elevate foot so will return later. Just in case, the night light is on.

Loretta. I ckd both Scot nests. No Odin at dark. Nothing yet at LoTL. Gonna get crazy there. EJ looked very good. Nest needs a weed wacker. Ha

Magpie (Margy I think - trying to learn) - Right now the WV Raptor Center is not open to the public. They only take the birds to give educational talks when asked to like schools, festivals, etc. Once the Fairmont location is ready, it will then be open to the public. I've become addicted to this blog so I will be around & I'll let you know any updates on the center as I hear them.

Robyn said...

Thanks Jen, that would be a nice day trip...

Was trying to download pics w/lots of trouble, either small file size or No real name. I'll have to rename all of them--I save them by date. The date I put as a File Namr turned out to be Just that---a folder!!Pics have the million digit/letter #! I hate Win 7!! Lady from HP will call Sun. or Mon. We couldn't do anything today as she was 11 hours ahead and leaving work soon!!!!!Outsourcing???

magpie said...

OK thanks Jen...
also, are you familiar with the West Virginia State Wildlife Center at French Creek in Upshur County? February issue of Wonderful West Virginia magazine had a nice article on it, I have been trying to get a link up on the article, but it has not made the archives on the net yet...

that place is in my list of places to go this Summer !

WV sUSAn said...

Isla aka Lady trained 7Y aka Laird like a champ. He came thru in a clutch (pun intended) and saved the nest. Happy ending!!

I think we r not so much seeing history in the making at our cam nests and dens but more importantly, we are seeing what really happens. So much to learn.

PammySue said...

OK, that took forever! But I got the pics of today's nest visit up on my brand new blog.
Just click on my name and then on Pammy Sue Stuff.
Sorry, but I do not have a professional camera. Just a little Sony Cyber-Shot. :)

Will leave for awhile with this link from Wonderful WV Magazine, March 2010
All Eyes On Eagles

about our nest at NCTC -
Normabyrd and Lynn teamed up together and got many many copies of this distributed to many of our Momsters and Dadsters....a lovely gift

Margy. I went to French Creek couple yrs ago. Nice facility. They dag turkeys there and was checking them out. Something about one of the two gobblers was different. The feed guy told me the gobbler w the long beard probably about 8 inches, was a hen. Dang. Like a woman w a 'stache. Had heard of it but had never seen that before.

Robyn said...

Magpie I rememeber that, I have my issue but while I was redoing some of my home I put it away somewhere safe...

magpie said...

have seen a few hens with a beard...but not that long of a one!

Trying to convince an old pal to take me out there in the Springtime, Susan !
Thank you...

okay, think I am going to go fall alseep in the bath tub

That was the issue that had an article on our Nest as I recall. It was a truly wonderful gift!! I took one to Chrissy last May - my goodness where does the time go, that's almost a year ago. grrrr

Good Evening Scott and Welcome

PammySue said...

You guys are all welcome. I'm really glad that Jo and Robyn were there. My eyesight is pretty horrendous, so we largely relied on Robyn for the visuals while Jo called people and told them what we saw.

TEAM LIBERTY!!

Now I have to go try to catch up . . .

magpie said...

Yes Iris, your mind serves you perfectly well....
Norma bought a pile of copies, Lynn helped her with the mailing process, but Lynn is going to come on here later and defer all the credit...
It was a good Momsters team effort ♥

Hello Scott....

My nephew just called asking to spend the weekend so we may drive up to the nest and spend some time there...

It was a beautiful gift. I appreciated it greatly.

PammySue the brand new blog you are setting up looks good.

WV sUSAn said...

Pam, thanks for sharing your wonderful shots of the nest. So nice to see.

Robyn, you lucky girl, so glad to hear you are making another nest visit. Wish I could join you. Awesome! Always anxiously awaiting live observation.

PammySue said...

Paula, we saw a couple of vultures today.

Judie, bring on the elephants. We love thungerous applause. Anything to support Lib.

Red, make sure you notify us when you are getting ready to nap. That way we'll be ready. :)

Lynn, thanks for the update on that horrible woman. I'm glad she is still facing state and possibly federal charges. I think they should put her out in a field with no food or water and leave her there for a while. See how she likes it.

hedgie said...

Sorry I forgot to tell you that EJ was back.
Yes, Margy, they are either 5 or 6 hrs. ahead of us.
Loretta, if your Help person is 11 hrs. ahead, they must be in Japan!!! ARGH! Sorry about the pressure---did he give you the number??? Mine was up another point this year....strong family history so they really like to keep an eye on it! (pun intended, as Susan says!)

Robyn said...

Paula mom called she said Henry was the one who knocked the eggs out of the nest when he came in to take over, Henry was with Isla, she said he wasn't a good provider and the young one was an excellent provider..

EJ her mate they thought he may have had 2 nests going on, Odin came in and was a great provider.

I am just as confused with this as I am with Belle, Lib and intruder...

Robyn said...

Told mom to get on here and chat but she is watching her shows and she gets too caught up in here lol that other things get neglected, She reads daily though...

stronghunter said...

I am too tired to keep going. I will see you tomorrow. It is teacher at- home work day. I get to sleep in before I have to work.

Did not sleep much last night. Was just falling to sleep when it was time to get up. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Among other things, the dogs wanted to go out at 3:30 AM.

Leona said...

Well I have read over all the post and see that Liberty was not seen today. Like everyone else, thanks so much for going out to look. If I didn't leave so far away I would be looking to. Not staying on. I was just checking in for an update. Everyone have a good evening and I will check back tomorrow. Night all...

Christine said...

So I've been babysitting and just got caught up. Well, I guess I won't have quite as many questions now at the raptor center. I wish there was better news, but it all seems to make sense now :( Thanks to those who went out to the nest today! I'll still keep my appointment and see if she can give us some insight into all of this.

Christine said...

I guess all those times we thought Lib was leading "her" away from the nest it was really "him" chasing Lib away :(

hedgie said...

All I did was compile a list of who wanted the mag and make the mailing labels, Margy, and sent them to Norma!!

Susan....what is "dag turkeys"???

I used to have a hen with a beard that my Bill said was 8" long. Haven't seen her in a couple of years. :(

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks Robyn for right names for the right nests...thanks Bobbi :)

PammySue said...

I wanted to say that Jo, Robyn and I felt like paparazzi stalking celebrities today. We had binoculars, camera, and cell phone. On the way home, I actually heard the song 'Paparazzi.' heehee

The dog that came out to visit us at the nest was so sweet. Dogs are awesome.

Christine, way to go scoring that appt. with an eagle specialist. I think your list of questions sound excellent.

Christine said...

Thanks Pammy, hopefully I'll learn something new and useful. I feel like a log of our questions have been answered concerning "Benedict" <--- love that name!! But I still want to ask about some of the odd behaviors we've seen. I hope Liberty is safe and not out there injured somewhere. Maybe he'll be back!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks Pam, Jo and Robyn for the reports today, and the pictures, and thanks Lolly for relaying the info!

Mema Jo said...

@ Christine I just did the same as you must have done. I changed all the situations that we have seen with the intruder being a male. That was the first one I thought of - new male chasing old male away from nest...
The only one I can't understand is when Belle was fighting the male intruder and we assumed it was a female.
