I have gotten inquiries from folks about getting more info on what's going on and also requests that the NCTC do something to assist the birds.
I need to repeat that we all understand that this episode is unsettling to everyone, but it is one of the risks of having the cam in place--you get to see the wonderful things and the not so wonderful as well.
Wild nature is not always a happy place...the best thing to do is not to interfere in any way.
FWS biologists have been aware of this episode since it began and I suspect there will be more information put out tomorrow on the official cam website.

Sharon, I think b/c of these events I'm more interesting in seeing how Liberty and Belle will overcome and triumph over the intruder. I'm definetly in this for the long haul. :)

Trudy has been in the nest for a few minutes, she adjusted some sticks, then uncovered the grave, and is just standing there wondering why no one is challenging her.
Belle was doing her territorial calls above the nest, and now she's in the nest doing the nestoration moves that seem to inspire any challengers to attack if they are going to... no challenges.

that is not Belle in the nest, it is Trudy, and she is pulling chick out of grave, like she's wondering if it's dead.
Trudy has stepped back like she doesn't know what to do.
OOPs. I misidentified the female bird in the nest. I can clearly see the brown on her head now.
But when I was looking a while ago it was definitely Belle?????????

I just wanted to pop in and say thanks again to all of you who continually give us updates and info on the eagle soap opera. I come here to get my "fix" on what is going on with the trio. I feel lost right now with no visuals though. :(
