Helen, sorry to hear about drowning. I never thought there were very many in OC.
On lighter note, Margy, you and James could come down here and volunteer! Lynn, if your area is so similar to China, then you and SISSY should have PANDAS!!!! Now, plant that bamboo!
Well, the Goshawk was in the tree in our parkway. Not sure what its plans were, but the mailman spooked it. He always walks thru our brick planter and diagonally across our lawn, instead of walking on the sidewalk and up our driveway. Pretty annoying. Hawk went 'poof'. Well, gotta do a few things around the house, and need to get some lunch. Will check back later. Still praying for Davin and Norma & family! :o]
Margy, another school bus wreck...maybe 2 or 3....so much cross-traffic on scanner, can't tell for sure....something on Tabler St. Rd. and one on Mt. Lake at Providence Church intersection, as well as something in the City.....a little bit of rain sure can cause trouble---not enough to wash oils off roads.
FYI - I emailed Steve about the cam. He is in meetings, but said they pulled the cam down today, as they were working on burying the power cables from the solar cell.
So, there is a valid reason for our blue screen...they are doing some additional work!
Had much to catch up on as computer at school died so couln't read comments.
Norma, my prayers for Davin, you, and all her family. Likely her surgery is over by now and I know we all are anxious to know it was successful and she is recovering.
Happy birthday Kathryn! Give mom Shirley a hug for her good job done.
Lynn, hope you are feeling better. I like chicken soup but maybe some broth for you?
I am sory about the father who lost his life. It will, indeed, be a difficult outcome for the son and other family members to cope with.
Hey -- Lolly got adopted! Great news as it's hard for teenagers to get adopted.
Read the update on Diego who had his 4th exam today. Check out the picture of that rolly polly guy. He's really gotten big, right eye and left ear opening.
Supposed to have gotten some bit of rain today but none so far.
I'm sure I've forgotten some important events -- my apologies. Please don't send stink bugs as payback.
Off to gaze into the frig hoping for an ephiphany about dinner.
Thanks for the updates, Paula - regarding our nest, and thanks NCTC for working on the problem ☺
One can always grab a nice Belle, Liberty and/or juveniles coffee mug with some java to soothe the absence of our birds at the nest...IF you happen to have one, I played it safe, and got Two ! ☺
Have been doing on line shopping. Joseph is getting a new bedroom for his birthday. He and Jacob have been together (Joseph's idea three years ago!) Now, he wants his own room. There goes my room! However, when I am up there he can sleep in the trundle bed back in his old room. Anyway, it is going to be a (yuck!!) NY Giants room. (Double yuck!!) Have been comparing prices and coming up with the best deal. It will be cute.
Anxious to hear from Norma. Davin is not off my mind! Continued prayers.
close friend who had bypass a few years back...it was a long day, he went in at 0800 and time in the recovery room was busy and it was almost 9 pm when he could open his eyes....hope things have speeded up with more modern medicine these days. (( Hugs )) Norma...♥
Lynn - I think I am glad I do not have a scanner...but I appreciate your updates.....wet roads, yeah, but basically careless driving on a lot of people's parts... I'm definitely a granny on the roads when they are wet...
My apartment smells good, Roast Chicken! But a former work buddy has a gift card to Cracker Barrel and is in the area from Winchester....so, chicken for work Wednesday and something else for dinner ☺
Keeping you all in my thoughts, will check for Norma updates when I get back.
It's almost, Autumn...less than one hour...
PS Loretta, I would love to bring James to PRP and volunteer! When he gets older he would probably love to skipper the pontoon boat!
Yes, knee-deep in papers--probably should be knee-deep in prayers as well.
Thank you for all of the birthday greetings for Kathryn. I will tell her.
Continued prayers for Davin and her family and for all others who need them.
Tired and hungry. Ready to head home. Going to be a very long week. I have a weekend class coming up, so I will probably need to set up for a sub on Friday.
The Friday class runs from 4:00 PM-10:00 PM. I could make it by 4:00 if I got someone to cover the last of my block 4 class, ran out the door and ate supper in the car, but I am not sure I would absorb anything after 9:00 PM, and I have to be in class again at 9:00 the next morning. (Have done that before!)
Deb I think those black and orange bugs must be some kind of milkweed bug, maybe a Fall variation or something, I googled it and they are similar but not exact.
Nope, this boy is hard headed and thoroughly brain washed. NY Giants it is. My poor grandson, ruined by his own father!!!
Just put up my Fall garden flag and changed my wreath on the front door. Think now I will tackle the hall closet. If I am not back this evening, send someone searching.
Loretta, there aren't that many drownings in OC, the only time you hear of any are when the guards are off duty, the guards warn people when they are going off duty, twice, flag people to come in, but before guards are off the beach, they are back in the water....
09/22/09: Technical Note: We re-aimed our satellite dish this morning, but we're having a slight problem getting our PC to refresh the images. We're working on the problem. Thanks for your patience.
Just saw on Facebook that Sissy posted last night that Tom's mother had to go to the ER----they couldn't find anything wrong and sent her home; was to see her own Dr. today......hope everything is okay, but let's all add them to our prayers.
EVENING EAGLE BUDDIES!---DAV'S SURGERY IS OVER!!---5:20--Dr told MATT EVERY THING WENT WELL!!!----They told MATT to go home--didn't want him there while she is waking up! thanks kids! --
Hedgie, things are good here in Bedford. How about you? Yeah MITS, our win was lucky too. We had a hard time getting points once we got in the red zone.
Happy to hear the good news, Norma. Continued prayers.
Prayers for Tom's mother, too.
Picked up my supper at McDonald's tonight, but could only eat half of the sandwich. I am sure that I got plenty of calories, anyway. While I was waiting for my burger, I saw an interesting barbeque stand behind McDonald's. Looks interesting. I'll try that next time.
I asked by brother about snow in Fort Collins. This is what he said --
Shirley,
No snow in Ft. Collins yet but maybe by tonight. Some areas in the foothills just to the west of Denver got several inches. The hills just to the west of Ft. Collins were white this morning and the forecast is for snow above 6500 ft tonight (unless it has changed). We are at ~ 5000 ft. so it is getting close enough that we may get some. The record first snow (for Denver) is something like September 3rd. So snow this time of year is not that unusual.
Yep, Thelma, they definitely need to do something to start making TD's.....I'm beginning to think "get rid of Zorn"! Imthink they should make Joe Bugle the head coach! JMHO.
Just watched the video of the 4th exam of Diego. He is such a butter ball and so cute. What I would do to hold him!!!
Yes, it does snow in Sept. in Colorado. One time when we were camping there we woke up to 8 inches of snow on our tent. Our tent was okay as we had a catalytic heater, but the awning over the table had collapsed and was buried. Jack carried the kids approx. 2 1/2 and 6 1/2 to the car while we dug out, packed up, and headed out! Snow plows came through to clear the roads. Amazing experience! Ahh, memories!
Eight inches is a healthy dose of snow--especially if you are in a tent.
I remember seeing some snowflakes flying in July when we visited Colorado. Don't remember exactly where we were, but it was in the mountains.
My mother went to spend time with my brother and his wife when their child was born. They had so much snow that Jim put on snowshoes and went out to dig out the heat pump. My mother was quite impressed. She has always lived in the South.
Remember one time when my daddy was in Denver...woke up to several inches of snow and then it was in the 70's that afternoon....don't remember what time of year it was, but not winter! BTW---have I offered y'all ACORNS?? I've got thousands...you're welcome to help yourselves. This is ridiculous!!!
Jim (my brother) is so used to Colorado weather that he grabbed a jacket to go out when he visited us in the heat of the summer. You do not really have to do that around here.
New cam is functioning in the PA woods. Remarks: pixcontroller: Hi all, yes new camera installed. We're in a weird light situation now but it will get sharper at night 7:22 pixcontroller: The day color is really good 7:25 pixcontroller: The sound amp died and I installed another one... not very good. Will install a better one tomorrow
Casserole is in the oven. Used Italian sausage and pepperoni. Made half a recipe for the two of us. Also used rigatoni as that is what I had a half a box of in the pantry. Jack grated fresh Parmesan to sprinkle on top.
Jack just headed to the kitchen to make Garlic bread, Lynn. ☺
Norma, you must be incredibly relieved to have the surgery over. Will continue to send a gazillion eagle prayers for Davin and her complete recovery. Hugs of comfort for you!
All my six surgeries last year I told Frank to go home and stay home. Nothing he could do, wasn't allowed in ICU. Really, just wanted to watch crime shows all night!
Snow? Snow? Oh no! I love snow when I am home with a good book but not when I have to schlep to classes.
Speaking of crime shows, off to watch First 48. Back to say g'nite later.
Well, we have pecans falling in our yard. They are not ripe yet, just hope all the rain, wind and squirrels do not get what is left. Also, have acorns but they are not falling yet,
Reading all since I left work.... CONGRATS for Norma's daughter, Davin!!!!♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Prayers for speedy recovery!
Margy, know you are out, BUT what was that about Deb's orange and black beetle? I didn't see one on her Pics. BBL---coffee, or I'll go to sleep REAL early in front of TV. Gotta dwnld camera too---got some marsh plant pics and a far away big bird w/fish in foot. Couldn't tell if osprey or eagle.
Wow, burrowing owls cam just had sounds like Hallowe-en night...then a large plane flew overhead...
Sounds like everyone has TV shows lined up for the evening...
Dinner was breakfast: apple streusel flavored french toast with some kind of apply syrup, then real dessert, coca cola cake with ice cream, split that with my dinner partner. I'm full....
Loretta - the black and orange bugs are my link "Feathers, Fur and Miscellaneous..." clustered on some milkweed pods. I was answering what was her comment on my post ☺
Just got a thought~~~~and put some reunion pics on blog. I never took a pic of outside of school! Can drive by it sometime---not the same w/additions, tho. Biology Lab, where I lived for 6 years, looks like a chemistry lab now!

LOL, Loretta...when my sister live here she had lots of bamboo planted...and it never attracted a single Panda!!!
Jo, this rain is so sparse that I don't know whether it will make it over the mtn. or not! Sorry...but will keep hoping!

Hi Thelma, nice win for you on Sunday:)
don't forget fans of NCIS, season premiere of it tonight, and the series premiere right after of NCIS...Los Angeles.....
Just saw on Facebook that Sissy posted last night that Tom's mother had to go to the ER----they couldn't find anything wrong and sent her home; was to see her own Dr. today......hope everything is okay, but let's all add them to our prayers.
thanks MITS, nice win for you too
we were just plain lucky, Thelma, to get out of SD with a win...
Hi T-bird! We don't know how our eagles are.....still no cam :( How's everything in Bedford?
Back to work, bbl.
Paula, hope you get mowing done before it rains there. Possible T-storms the next two days.
Getting ready to eat hot dogs off the grill. Some rain sprinkles are here now.
Hi T-Bird!
Thanks Mits for the reminded about the shows tonight!
Really anxious to learn of Davin's surgery from Norma.
Thanks for the info on Tom's mother, Lynn.

good news, Norma
that's great Norma
Oh Normabyrd, that is wonderful news. But with the prayers that come through here, I wouldn't expect anything different.
Norma, so glad for the good report. Know you had a hard afternoon. Will continue to keep Davin in prayers for a great recovery.
Half way through cleaning the hall closet. Working on the toys now. Think Gus left it a mess.
Happy to hear the good news, Norma. Continued prayers.
Prayers for Tom's mother, too.

Lolly, hope you like the pizza casserole as much as I did!!! Garlic bread goes well with it!
I sent recipe to you last week, Shirley!
Lynn, I will go looking. I am swamped these days. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate things, just get confused sometimes.
I am sure when I go to my house this weekend, I am going to fine millions of chestnuts with their lovely burs in my front yard!
Casserole is in the oven. Used Italian sausage and pepperoni. Made half a recipe for the two of us. Also used rigatoni as that is what I had a half a box of in the pantry. Jack grated fresh Parmesan to sprinkle on top.
