thanks for the call over Ceil:)

Mits said...

off to dinner, bbl.

ceil said...

Wanda is it just one foot or both?
Did he injury it or is it like Lynn said gout?
Mits have a good supper. We got Chinese. I really wanted a hot dog but the Eagle Express did not come up my street.

ceil said...

Looks like we are going to get a storm here.

hedgie said...

Ceil, blow the storm this way! We need rain.
Wanda, all is forgiven!!!! LOL!

magpie said...

I saw an eagle....
it was beautiful. About 10-15 mins ago. Short visit.

I was on the phone with the other older brother (who got his 60th birthday package on time back in January ) - he got his copy of what my brother Fred probably IS not going to receive in time.
But it was a fun phone call, and I couldn't put out an Eagle Alert.
xoxox Back in a little while to chat.

Good Evening Eagle Friends. xo

magpie said...

So keep watching, maybe he or she will come back....I only have still cam like the rest of you right now xo

stronghunter said...

EAGLE ALERT!

Mema Jo said...

WOWSIE They're BACK

EAGLE IN OUR NEST

I MEAN 2 EAGLES IN OUR NEST

stronghunter said...

Yeah! Two eagles.

stronghunter said...

Messed up my computer game. I forgot to take my turn and time ran out. Worth it!

Mema Jo said...

My still cam is great BUT just the ongoing green barber pole on the Live Feed with no pic at all. Maybe it is
just overloaded. I can take pics on the still cam.

stronghunter said...

Getting some pics.

Mema Jo said...

I think Lib went Poof just as I was about to snap pic. lol

stronghunter said...

Jo, are we the only ones here now?

Anybody else out there?

Mema Jo said...

Making sure the night light comes on I suppose.....

Mema Jo said...

Shirley is your live feed working?

stronghunter said...

Didn't see Lib leave, but that is what happens with the still cam.

Mema Jo said...

Both are now back in the nest

Margy said Live Feed was down

Shirley- After image has been there for 15 sec or so Hit the F5 button and
refresh.........

stronghunter said...

Nope, no live feed.

ceil said...

Jo live feed has been down for a few hours

Mema Jo said...

He is gone again!

Belle still in the nest

Mema Jo said...

I think the night light has come on.

stronghunter said...

Poof!

stronghunter said...

Jo, what happens? Can you make it refresh more than every 30 seconds?

stronghunter said...

I usually click on the refresh symbol on the screen.

Mema Jo said...

Yes F5 will do it or if you have a refresh button up on your menu

DOUBLE POOF

stronghunter said...

I have a refresh button on my menu. I am experimenting.

stronghunter said...

Got several good pictues.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Ceil - I don't know why it does that! Especially at crucial times.

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Jo.

magpie said...

Well...good for you gals!
I was on another phone call, with step-daughter....so I missed out for a good cause.... ☺

Congratulations Eagle-Eyed Ladies !

stronghunter said...

My still cam was acting up earlier, too.

magpie said...

I love that beautiful blue shimmer around the edge of the nest...

Hope everyone is doing okay, going to take me awhile to catch up...

stronghunter said...

Going to go do some chores. BBL.

Mema Jo said...

My picnic crew has left and the clean up crew has finished! Kitchen looks better then when we started. Everyone
enjoyed the food - the sweet corn was delicious! So was the cantaloupe!
I love summer fruits!

And now the cats have all come out from hiding! lol How do they always know when the last car leaves?????

hedgie said...

Cool story....daughter and SIL stopped at Rocky Gap State Park Fri. on their way to Glenville to visit a ranger friend of his, Sara. Turns out she works with the girl who brought the eagle to Open House last fall. He is currently away from the Rocky Gap Aviary, going through training for his educational role.
Shannon got to hold a hawk for Sara while she removed an injured feather---if the quill itself isn't removed, it acts like a drain and he was bleeding heavily. Using a hemostat, she was able to remove the quill and the bleeding quickly stopped.
There was a very tame vulture who follows her around like a puppy who took to Christie and kept pecking at her fingernails!
Christie didn't understand exactly what she was talking about, but she was saying something about NCTC video not being what they wanted for an educational purpose....don't know what that wasw about!

Mema Jo said...

Hi Margy! Sorry to hear that you think Fred's package won't arrive on time. Can't imagine the postal system's procedure of the 'back to
Baltimore' and then down the road again. No wonder we get increases on postage stamps every year!

hedgie said...

PapPaw did not do well while they were with him...very short of breath, even on oxygen. Couldn't walk 10 ft. w/o gasping. O2 levels were only in the 70's and should be in the mid-90's.

Costume Lady said...

I am scratching my head trying to figure out why the video from yesterday or was it Friday, won't post to Youtube or my Wild and Wonderful. It did show up on facebook. I don't think I will ever figure out this computer...or is it ME? Youtube shows that the video is still processing...for 2 days?! Sorry for those of you who aren't on facebook, that seems to be the only way to see it. It's kinda cute, Lib and Belle are really being fiesty, actually it is all Belle. It looks like Lib came over to help place a stick and Belle just thumped the heck out of him!:) LOL

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie, it would be interesting to know WHO didn't think the NCTC video was ok for Ed Purposes? And also
WHAT NCTC video?
Sure would like to hear the whole story. I was hoping the Ed Eagle would return this year to NCTC Open House.
You could tell last year that he was new to all this and seemed sorta spooked. He really was beautiful...Could have been a she....

magpie said...

Dear me, Lynn, sorry about Paw Paw, but so happy that he could have a family visit.

Need to pass this along: On Sept 17 (weather permitting) - the Potomac Audubon Society will sponsor a hawk-watching trip in the Harpers Ferry (Jefferson County WV ) area. The Broad-winged hawk should be at or near its peak migration time then, and many other species may be seen. Local birding expert Matt Orsie will lead the trip and help identify the birds seen.

I bet this has already been posted...and there are more details if anyone is interested. This is on a Thursday...

I have more calls and emails to attend to, so will be more polite in a little while about earlier posts, which I have not read yet.
xo

Costume Lady said...

Feel so sorry for anyone in ill health:( How old did you say Pap Paw is, Lynn?

Gene has just one foot swollen...pretty sure it is gout. Bought him some cherries to nibble on. Suppose to help a little. Frankly, I think a G&T would be the best medicine;)

Costume Lady said...

Yes, he was new to the crowd and so was the handler, felt sorry for her.

hedgie said...

Don't know any more than that, Jo!
I thought maybe they had tried to tape nest activity off of the cam....which if it did it's freezes, it would be difficult to use.

Judie said...

Oh Wanda, thank you so much. Now I can go inside and eat dinner. It has gotten very dark outside and I was getting scared. Shirley made me jealous because Will left her a hamburger.

Missed the evening eagle visit. Just have green barber pole.

Lynn, sorry the family visit wasn't so good. At least family got to visit for awhile.

Jo, summer fruit is super good and cats ALWAYS know what they want to know if it's to their advantage. I still miss ours every single day.

Margy, keep the faith in USPS. The package WILL arrive!

Maybe I missed out but has anyone heard from Andrea today?

Later,
Judie

magpie said...

Well, I would say that if someone "out there" in the educational field is looking for good videos, they are certainly available from amongst our Momsters! Will also be interested to hear any more on this tale. Nice experience you related about Christie at Rocky Gap, Lynn.....

I sure enjoyed Sandy Burk's book which we had a chance to view while on the Patuxent Field trip in April, thanks to Paula for bringing that along! xo

magpie said...

Thank you, Judie...
I am disappointed, and maybe I will find a surprise when I check the tracking again, and again, and again...but maybe the day AFTER the birthday will be better after all, sometimes there can be a letdown, kind of like after Christmas...and maybe this will have a Silver Lining to it!
You are ALL so Sweet for your encouragement and kind remarks!
xo ♥

magpie said...

My eyeballs are down to my ankles, and I think I am getting pink eye or a Stye :(

Think I will soak in some bubbles to let the work stress go down the drain, and will look forward to the rest of the day's comments in a little while. Work has been tough these last three days, lots of unpleasant things going on -
xoxo

Mema Jo said...

Judie - Andrea and Hubby are in the AC
at a local hotel for the weekend. She should be studying and we all told her she could retain the info in the coolness of the room! Her hubby is something else for her and I'm sure he enjoys the AC. I couldn't take their humidity or high temps.

Mema Jo said...

Judie you do have the url for the Still Cam - right?
If not here it is.........

http://www.fws.gov/nctc/cam/stillimage.html

Costume Lady said...

Margy, if you decorated the package as beautifully as you did Gene's B'Day card...the postal workers are probably passing it from town to town to let everyone see it!:)

Sorry, Judie, I forgot to tell you to come in;)

magpie said...

Wanda...you are sweet! Maybe someone will recognize that this package is Priority!

I am sorry to hear the Captain is in discomfort....Please give his sore foot a hug from me....♥
and the rest of him a hug from me too ♥

stronghunter said...

Wanda, I enjoyed the video on FB. You did that with a camera trained on the computer for all of that time? How do you avoid a reflection from the coputer screen? I tried taking a picture of the computer screen and it just did not work.

Costume Lady said...

Shirley, I didn't do anything special to keep away the glare. Maybe it's the angle on which I have my moniter set?? I can't figure out what the red reflection is on the video. No Idea.

stronghunter said...

I do remember having one pictue of the computer screen that did work, but I wasn't close. I will experiment.

Mema Jo said...

Now you all know why the Eagle Express didn't show up at the noon hour today... Has to be Gene's
'gas pedal' foot!

stronghunter said...

That was a long time to hold the camera steady. I am impressed.

stronghunter said...

Judie, we are using the still cam to observe the nest.

Costume Lady said...

Well, Shirley, I don't know how it held it so still either, must have been divine intervention, because I can't hold a camera still when I'm photographing something.

hedgie said...

Missed your question, Wanda, about PapPaw's age...I think Christie said 83.

Costume Lady said...

Not the "gas" foot...the "brake foot". He hurts so much, but is being so sweet.

Costume Lady said...

Gene says that he just uses one foot for the gas and the brake. I am a 2 foot driver...could never get used to using 1 foot for gas and brake.

stronghunter said...

Do you drive that big thing, Wanda?

hedgie said...

Maybe the hotel where Andy is doesn't have internet service that she can tap into.

Mema Jo said...

That is good news about being two footed! Just wish the pain would go away for Capt.Gene. You can't just put your foot up and expect it to feel better.

stronghunter said...

My brother could not understand why I did not just jump in and drive his huge motorhome. I am not comfortable driving something that big. Once when we were moving, I did drive a U-Haul truck with my twins in the car. They looked out and asked, "Why are so many cars following us, Mom?" Well, it was because I was afraid to go very fast.

Mema Jo said...

Well I just use my right foot for both gas & brake. I remember stick shifts I had to use both... When I broke my left leg - I could drive within a few weeks.

Mema Jo said...

Maybe Andrea's hubby knew that Lynn and now she is captivated into studying

ceil said...

Going to call it a day. Peaceful dreams. Oh before I go I went to the store and Hersey Kisses has a candy corn flavor. Really good.

stronghunter said...

I would have to go into seclusion to learn all those things Andy is learning.

Judie said...

Ah, yes, I forgot Andrea and hubby were headed for AC. Just began to wonder about her.

Wanda, it's okay. I found my way inside in the dark because I left my night light on. Also, Frank has gout and he takes Endocine. It helps alot but upsets his stomach. Maybe a possibility for Gene? Anyway, add a hug from me with Margie's hug.

Frank had a stye 3 weeks ago. Infected pore. Doctor didn't offer much help. Healed on its own.

Jo, thanks for the link to the still cam. I didn't have it so now I can keep up.

Judie

stronghunter said...

My husband had gout caused by medication he was taking for high blood pressure.

hedgie said...

Wanda, Gene shouold be taking tylenol and naproxyn(Aleve).....The Aleve is every 12 hrs. Take the Tylenol every six in between. No organ meats!!! No alcohol and no fruit juices, but important to stay well-hydrated!
Margy, hot compresses for your eye, and sleep!!!!
Goodnight, Ceil!

stronghunter said...

Isn't it nice to have Lynn here to give medical advice? I know who I need to ask if I have an ache or pain.

I have missed what happened to Margy's eye.

Mema Jo said...

Shirley I think Margy told us she
thought she was getting a stye

Mema Jo said...

I bet Jacob sleeps with his front end loaded on his bed! He should have had a great day. I am glad that Lolly and Jack gave him his present early - this way Jacob can appreciate them more!

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Jo. I missed that somewhere.

I am very tired. I am going to turn in for the evening. Night light is activated.

Mema Jo said...

Hear from you tomorrow, Shirley.

Mema Jo said...

I'm going to see what 10:00 TV has

I may be right back.......

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

80 posts in 4 hours. What in the world have you all been talking about? I guess I had better go read!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was going to suggest that Gene go to the doc and get Indocin and maybe some allopurinol to prevent it from happening again.

magpie said...

Hope you had a look at the Osprey Article and Pictures on the last thread, Sharon, close to the part before the Split, posted by Deb.
It is Great! - very informative article, terrific pictures, including THREE of Our Deb!

Nice avatar, Double E-S.

Lynn, thanks for the advice...I did warm salt water compresses, hope it heals on its own like Judie's Frank's did...It Hurts !

Good to hear of the Osprey Nest in Ocean City, Helen!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That would be Dr. Eagle-Eyed Sharon to you!!!!! :)

hedgie said...

LOL, Shar----gab fest!!
Night, Shirley.

Judie said...

Yep, I do remember Frank was supposed to apply warm compress to his eye. And, yes, Frank also takes blood pressure med. so that may be a source of his leg/feet pain.

The URL for the still cam doesn't seem to work tonight -- page cannot be found. I'll try again tomorrow.

Jo, Cold Case at 10.

Can't wait to find out how Jacob liked his front end loader.

Goodnight Ceil and Shirley.

Judie

hedgie said...

Oh, most definitely, Shar---I was just covering tx for now, figuring he couldn't see his doc until Tues.!!

magpie said...

Judie and Ceil -
lol'ed reading your Front End (and Back End) Loader comments....

Saw that front end loader soon as you posted the pictures and also the Clock, Lolly -
Great Birthday Cheer...wonderful workmanship by Jack on the loader!

magpie said...

and I know I hae missed Ceil -but I'll post it anyway, that I am glad you are there for your neighbor lady....difficult to know of lonesome seniors in need, every little touch of kindness helps for sure!
When I grow up I want to be Your Neighbor! ☺

magpie said...

Hope Deb had a great day today, and that Paula's Picnic was a Blast!
Enjoyed reading all the comments, sounds like some good times were had today...

Good Night Eagle Pals
No alarm clock setting for me tonight...finally!

xoxo God Bless Us, Every One

hedgie said...

Sleep soundly, Margy!!

Costume Lady said...

Ladies, thanks for the advice on treatments for Gout.
Lynn, I have been giving him Ibuprofen every four hours. Will that work? That's all I have til I can get to the store. Don't know if VA is seeing patients tomorrow or not, but I would like to take hime there.

Costume Lady said...

Don't pop up in the middle of the night to look at our nest...remember, it's AWOL!
Sleep long and well, Margy:)

Costume Lady said...

Oh, and yes, Gene does take Blood pressure meds.

Mema Jo said...

Sleep long and peacefully, Margy.

I missed Cold Case, Judie. I don't believe I did that - love that show.
Was watch Criminal Minds reruns earlier. Hubby had show on Defying Space or something like that!
I was over playing some card games!

Mema Jo said...

My little lady bug has come to see me
and wish me good luck!

deb said...

I am home and did have a good day, sure glad there was an eagle sighting in the nest.

The Osprey are starting to venture out on their own, hard to believe this season is almost over.

hedgie said...

Having a lot of satellite interference...if I miss the end of this race, I'm going to be highly ticked off!!! Wonder if there are storms around somewhere?

Costume Lady said...

Hi, Deb. I think Lib and Belle will come to the nest frequently. It is really, really a mess. It's no wonder Belle has been pecking at him. She is really in a bad mood. He was just trying to help her and she darn near knocked his head off:)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I am going to bed. I hope everybody has a wonderful night!

Costume Lady said...

Good Night Dr. EE Sharon, sleep well:)

hedgie said...

Wanda, Ibuprofen okay. No, clinic won't be open on a fed holiday. Of course, their ER is......even tho' they've been on Code Red a couple of times this week--NO BEDS for admissions, so think they were even diverting ambulance traffic.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Although Lynn's suggestions were wonderful for the acute stage and not being able to get to a doc soon! I would suggest the ibuprofen be 600-800 mg every 6-8 hours instead of 4 hours! :)

hedgie said...

Nighty-night, Sharon!
Jo, only 2 more weeks before NEW episodes of Cold Case and Criminal Minds come on!

Mema Jo said...

Whoo Hoo! Then I will be in front of the TV.

Costume Lady said...

Forgot, Sharon...you are in the Medical Field, too. Thanks for your input. I'm gonna get this Dude well if it kills me and him too;)

Mema Jo said...

Night Sharon - Liked the pics of the dogs on FB - Need one of Buddie with his new friends!

Lolly said...

Hi all! Loved your video, Wanda. Belle was really being a bit testy with Lib. And, here they are buddies. Wow!

Laurel and the boys have gone home. Jacob was so surprised with presents. He was not expecting them. He loved the front end loader. He also loved the costume, but the castle was the big hit. "My castle!", he said when he opened the box. He loves looking at toy catalogs and he apparently had really been studying it. Both boys had fun playing with it.

Shirley...Laurel brought me work. She and I both sat here and graded papers. lol I enjoy helping her out and it is actually fun to do a little school work. Key word here "little".

Costume Lady said...

We like Cold Case here, too. Have never watched Criminal Minds. Something else on at that time.
Looks like a lot of good, new shows coming in a few weeks. Hooray!

Lolly said...

Wanda, going to hold you to the promise of hot dogs! I got a sunburn waiting for you to pick me up. And, you blamed it on poor crippled Gene!!

hedgie said...

400 mg. every 4 is okay, or 600-800 every 6-8---the most important thing is to try to keep it on schedule so that the blood level stays relatively even!

Costume Lady said...

Lolly, I used to give the toy catalogs to grandkids and tell them to circle the items that they would like to have, and I would choose which one of them that I liked and that would be their Christmas present. Helped my out with my shopping and it kept them busy for hours on end!

Lolly said...

Joseph has never paid much attention to catalogs, but boy, Jacob will sit and pour over them.

Costume Lady said...

HAAAAAA-HAAAAAA, Lolly! ROFLMBO

Costume Lady said...

OK, Thanks Lynn. Need all the help I can get!

Lolly said...

Joseph does want a costume like Jacobs. So, guess I will order another one. Joseph's birthday is next month....before Halloween.

Mema Jo said...

Glad it turned out so well with Jacob's presents!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Just wanted to tell Jo that there is a pic of Buddy in with my brats on facebook!

Judie said...

It's okay, Jo. Cold Case was a rerun but I think I fell asleep the first time 'cause I didn't remember the end. Can't wait for new episodes.

Glad to read the comments about bl. pressure meds and gout/swelling. Frank has been having some serious problems with leg swelling -- wonder if meds are part of the problem. Must have him ask his M.D.

Wanda, don't ya think Belle and Lib are just so typical of Men are from Mars and Women are Venus?

Deb, so happy you had a good day.

Sure wish my hundreds of Lady Bugs would return. We had new windows put in three summers ago and since then they have been scarce. Before, we had dozens every day inside the house. I was always so happy to see them.

Well, time to say goodnight. Going to read a few pages before sleep. Turning my light off but leaving my night light on. Until tomorrow...

Judie

Mema Jo said...

I am closing down for the evening.
Wish we would have heard from Megan as to how market went today. I guess yesterday (Sat) was the arrangements for the wedding. We should really plan a visit to the farm and the corn maze
where Megan is this fall.

Anyhoooo

Good Night All
Pleasant dreams and restful sleep
Prayers for everyone's needs/wants
(((hugs))) ♥

Good Night Andrea....... Sleep cool

Lolly said...

I will see the boys again Friday. It is Grandparents Day at both schools. We visit with Jacob and then go and have lunch with Joseph.

Then Sunday we go back for his party. I am making the cake for his party...a rocket. Should be fun! However, I have to make another dessert for an auction at church. Next Satuday will be busy!

Then Sunday, right after church the auction and then hurry to Denton for the party.

Mema Jo said...

I'm going to FB - need to watch Wanda's video and will look for your pic. NIGHT

Costume Lady said...

Lolly, I know you love what you are doing with the grandkids and church...but don't stretch yourself too thin. Might come back and bite you in the BUTT! Make sure you have plenty of quiet time. You have a lot of years being GRANDMOMMY:)

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Jo. Tomorrow is another day.

Costume Lady said...

I'm hearing the tap, tap, tap of someone coming towards me and it's not Gene with his cane, so it must be the Sandman. Going to let him in.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP WELL
PRAYERS AND CANDY CORN KISSES FOR ALL:)

Lolly said...

Not happy that so much is landing on the same weekend. However, two days after the party Jack and I are heading to the beach. I will have several days of just Jack and me!

Nite Wanda! Nite all!

Sweet dreams!

hedgie said...

Judie, you are kidding about the lady bugs, right??? I've been lucky, but some people aroyund here have had terrible infestations the last few years!

Good night everybody!! Peace and prayers for all. See you on Labor Day!!

stronghunter said...

Good morning!

Lynn, I am sure Judie is not kidding about the ladybugs. We have had invasions from time to time.

One of the funniest essays I have ever gotten from a student was written about a ladybug invasion. The lady (a college student) did research and learned that ladybugs are attracted to light colored houses and that they like hilltops, so the student concluded that she needed to move to a black house in the valley.

Mits said...

good morning everyone....

Still Cam

Try this for the still cam, Judie.

stronghunter said...

Morning, Mits.

Have been doing research on ladybugs. It seems that the ones that swarm and come into homes are imported. They are a different kind of beetle from the ladybugs we knew when we were growing up.

Please excuse if I post this twice. The blogger seems to have malfunctioned. Has been saving the first part of this message for a long time. Going to hit "publish" again.

stronghunter said...

Four goldfinches on the seed sock.

stronghunter said...

Finney site has a really nice series of pictures and a video of Koo taking off from the nest. The video really gives a different perspective on life in that nest. The wind in blowing and the nest is swaying. There is sound, so you can hear the wind and a few little chirps from the birds. Click on the links on the left side of the screen.

Six goldfinches in my little tree. One of my friends said they had to give up feeding them in the summer because they went through the food so fast that it became too expensive. So far, I am enjoying them. Wonder what would happen if I put another seed sock or two out there?

deb said...

I am off to labor on Labor Day, have a wonderful day everyone!

stronghunter said...

Guess everybody wore themselves out blogging yesterday. It is very quiet here.

stronghunter said...

Hi, Deb. Have a good day.

Judie is going to tell you there is a New Thread !

Good morning Eagle Friends xox

3/18/24. Different days, same results.

5:54 am Scout arrives but Bella is not ready to change out. After a bit of poking around the nest, looks like both decided to go back to ...
