Sharon, did I tell you that I am NOT going to the beach? So, don't put me on your list;)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That is right Wanda, you are not on the list! :)

Costume Lady said...

Paula, you have all our good wishes for a wonderful time at the beach. You must be ready to drop. You cared for your Mother for such a long time in life and now in death, caring for her house.

Well I hope I see the landing!

Costume Lady said...

When is the landing suppose to take place, please?

Mema Jo said...

Turn NASA on now - It's the dedocking of our shuttle Discovery from the Space Station.

Those clouds are awesome......

Here I am back from school. Very, very tired today.

Sharon, I am NOT going to the beach!

Paula, have a lovely weekend of relaxing and enjoying.

Okay, way too much to catch up on. Just hope everyone is having a great day with lots of good wishes coming your way. I need a short nap. Will return later.

Hello! Been "under the weather" but am now on the mend.
Blessings around and if there are any birthdays, Happy, Happy!

Before I forget, Dana, the Steelers are playing Thursday on NBC. I forgot to get the time ... geez .. maybe I'm not any better. Darn sinuses!

I'm having a hard time keeping up with you guys, and dolls. too. So many posts take me hours to catch up.

I saw over the holiday that the live cam was down so I probably missed visits of the royal pair. But some of you are photo angels in getting the pics of these landings. God bless you.

... more catching up. ... later

Mema Jo said...

Hi Diann - I'm watching the NASA station.. GGD is here for dinner and a play date! She is the one I call Meatball and the spaghetti is cooking!

Diann Everyone is getting excited about Open House on Oct 17
Lynn is taking head count for dinners... Any chance of your coming down???

Mits said...

speaking of open house, Jo and Lynn, you have mail.

Lolly said...

Hi all, home from church. Helped prepare meal, then the funeral, then helped serve and clean up. Been a long day and my feet are tired.

Watching NASA TV with my feet up.

Lolly said...

We are supposed to be able to see the ISS as well as the shuttle as they pass over tonight. Cetainly hope we see them. One time when in Colorado we saw them go over, but at the time we did not know what it was. It was fantastic, two very bright lights moving across the sky.

paula eagleholic said...

Sharon - that's a cool pic....

And I love ya too! :)

Jo - So glad Meatball is getting her meatballs tonight and not some nasty old BBQ chicken, LOL

Lolly said...

Paula, who is taking care of door prizes and possible raffles at open house?

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda - I will surely drop when the house is done.

And I think it's only fitting that we take care of our parents when they need it....they took care of us for most of our lives.

paula eagleholic said...

Heading home to mow...catch ya'll later!

paula eagleholic said...

Hey, Lolly, I believe you can email Wanda on that issue!

PA Nana said...

Mema Jo, unfortunately, we won't be able to attend the open house. Sure was hoping it would be possible but hubby's crazy schedule has him working all weekend. I hope there will be lots of pics for those of us who can't attend. :o(

Our local news has one of the new generators for TMI arriving in Port Deposit, MD. The other is expected tomorrow. They will be housed at the Bainbridge Naval Base temporarily then,at 3 mph, they'll make their way to TMI. Not sure when it will pass near us, but if hubby is off, I hope to go down the road and watch. Got to remember our cameras!!

hedgie said...

Lolly, Wanda is handling that.

Lolly said...

Okey, dokey! Thanks!

Mema Jo said...

ANY OF YOU WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND

Send a photo to Paula and you might tell her your favorite drink so she can
make Bottle Buddies for our dinner table!

I normally would be a little earlier for lunch, but had a long call today.

Mits said...

how did the haircut go....?

Mits said...

update from BWO........

Nest Update

09/08/09:
Braveheart is still at the nest, but since she hatched late, we probably shouldn't be surprised.

In 2006 -- the last year we had chicks -- our final osprey was seen on September 8, then the bald eagles arrived on the platform, meaning our osprey family had left town.

Lolly said...

Go on the right day, Deb? hee hee

Mits said...

lol...Lolly....

Lolly said...

The color on the cam is fantastic. Can really see the yellow of the beak and talons.

Lolly said...

I do not like the statue eagle. I want to see it moving!!!!

deb said...

I got the right day and it went well, thanks for asking, :)

Lolly said...

Ok, experts, Belle or Lib?

deb said...

This non-expert guesses Belle, only because of the position in the nest. I am probably wrong!

Mits said...

well I'm leaning towards Lib, because I thought he had a crooked footsie

Mits said...

lol....ok we have a 50-50 chance of it being either.

Lolly said...

Well, which ever one it is, it sure is staying long and in the same place!

deb said...

I didn't check out the feet. I hate to leave with an eagle in the nest, but lunch is over!

Mits said...

yes too bad we can't see it live:(

Judie said...

Quick visit

Yep, eagle still in the nest -- oh for the live cam!

Diann, glad you're feeling better.

Jo, Frank has to go speechifying tonight so I'm not cooking - I WANT MEATBALLS! Enjoy the meatballs with Meatball.

Lolly, know your help was much appreciated -- you deserve some quiet time.

Tried to check on Diego but the picture froze.

Now back to check the nest still cam.

Later

Judie said...

Eagle still in nest. I'm pretty sure it's either Lib or Belle.

Lolly said...

LOL Judie we are in agreement! It surely is Bell or Lib!

Lolly said...

I want to know who climbed up to the nest to put a stuffed eagle in the nest?

Mits said...

I think you are right,,,,,it is either Lib or Belle:)

PA Nana said...

lol, Lolly!

PA Nana said...

Wow!! She/he has been there for 10 minutes already. I tried something that worked - took a pic with my cell phone of the still cam. I'm thrilled!!! Now it's my wallpaper.

must go check on supper ...

Mits said...

poof

hedgie said...

Diann, sorry you've been feeling poorly, but glad that you are better. And glad y'all got to see Lib or Belle!

Costume Lady said...

I have a little bit of bad news from Steve Chase about our cam.
Read the message and see what you think is going on. IT IS WHAT IT IS!

Hi,

As you know we have had a relationship with MyOutdoor TV the past year to stream our eagle cam video. Unfortunately, Chris Moise has left the company, and the new boss has decided not to continue the cam feed. Chris was not sure when they were going to cut it off, but I assumed it would be soon. It's really too bad because the eagle cam significantly increased their traffic. I will also say that regardless of what they have decided to do with the cam feed, they have been a fantatsic partner that has brought the eagles to many more people, thanks to their generous gift of bandwidth.

Since we heard from Chris on this, we have been looking for options, and have decided to send out an RFI to see who might be interested in working with us to provide the feed. We have been approached by one large media outlet that is interested, and the RFI will likely bring more interested parties. I'm sure we will find a partner before the winter.

That said, I think the video feed will soon be off until we have that new provider.

Well that was a comment I'm not sure I liked coming into. Then again maybe as one door closes a better on will open. Although outdoor has been great...Thank You Chris...though you may never get this. Hi to those out there looking at us to take the eagle cam on. It is a wonderful Educational tool that is used in schools, people that would never get a chance to see eagles in their producing stage and hatching and raising their young do get the chance throw a webcam like this on from NCTC. Children and people of all ages have watched this pair of eagles from across the United States and even from other countries. It is even educational to adults. It is a "family experience" of what nature does.
Thank you if you are reading this and thinking of taking on and showing the world this webcam. I can say that people enjoy "live cam with sound".

hedgie said...

Very well put, Dana.
Thanks, Wanda, for posting Steve's message....yeah, it is what is is, but it sucks. Can't imagine why, Chris or no Chris, outdoortv wouldn't want to continue.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda you have tons of emails

wvgal_dana said...

Diann if you catch this Steelers play Thursday at 8:30pm....( : Glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better.

It's late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!!!

I don't want to be called at 1:25am on my birthday lol

Judie said...

Well, since I didn't get an invite for meatballs with Meatball, I had to settle for a tomato sandwich. Good but not as good as meatballs with Meatball.

Jo, where was Meatball? Are you missing a stuffed eagle?

Just read the message from Steve. Heartbroken would be an understatement. As Dana said, we are so very grateful to Steve and for Chris in their efforts to educate anyone interested in how eagles live and survive -- or sometimes not. Let's send our BIG eagle prayers that another provder can be found before winter. Especially disappointing as our royal couple have been making regular visits to the nest so early this year

Sad now. Think I will go away for awhile.

Mema Jo said...

Can anyone tell me if this discontinuation is for the MyOutdoorTV live feed ONLY. Does it mean that the Still Cam is also being turned off.....
Don't know how to get that info from NCTC.

Lolly said...

Well, excuse me while I cry! No live cam, no sound. I heard them fly in the other evening.

Going out very shortly to look for shuttle and ISS, but it is a wee bit cloudy. Nothing is going right!

stronghunter said...

Judie, I have tried again. You have an e-mail. . . two in fact.

stronghunter said...

Excuse me, good evening, everybody.

wvgal_dana said...

Jo I am thinking it is just for the live cam for now. Prayers that someone will soon; very soon fill that need of the live cam because the eagles will soon do more nestorations and then prepare to lay their eggs. WHICH WE AND OTHER WOULD LOVE TO SEE .... PLEASE TAKE THIS WONDERFUL WORK OF NATURE ON...Whoeve is reading this before this great pair of eagles of Shepherdstown NCTC begin to lay their eggs. Remember THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING...

stronghunter said...

Well said, Dana!

Lolly, happy you saw the shuttle and ISS.

Goodnight, Ceil.

deb said...

I am home and sad to read that Chris is no longer at Outdoor TV to support our cam. :(

I second Dana and hope we come up with another wonderful provider to bring us live feed.

I don't think I added my birthday wishes to Kevin, even though I know I had planned to. Hope it was a great day, Kevin!

magpie said...

Good Evening Eagle Pals..
Wow, almost one hour of the stuffed eagle in the nest. Yay for the viewers!

Lolly - sooo glad you got to see ISS and the shuttle... I can't get the normal website to open due to an overload of people checking....don't think it was due to be visible hereabouts tonight but it is cloudy so doesn't matter much. It's great isn't it? So big and fast and no blinking lights, such a smooth transit across the sky !

magpie said...

I read the disappointing news about our Live Cam...wow, what a punch in the tummy....and we have been first in Beakspeak both in the last day and last seven days for quite some time now, and almost always in the top 7 !

Thanks, Wanda, for getting the information to us....hope someone with more compassion for advance notice takes it on ! Just think of all the gratitude they will get from the Momsters and Dadsters!

Thank Goodness it seems we will continue to have the Still Cam...

Steve Chase said...

The still cam is operated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and will continue. We will have a streaming cam for the nesting season, no worries. We need to use the Fall to go through our search process. NCTC does not have the budget to run streaming cam year round without a partner.

The new "boss " at MyOutdoor TV did not consult NCTC on this decision. He made the decision based on his own reasons, which is his prerogative.

magpie said...

Most beautiful picture I have ever seen of my Mother, which I included in the packet, was one of her sitting with my brother when he was about 6 months old....
Second most beautiful one was when she and my Dad were sitting with five little ones all scrunched up on a couch...this was such a fun project.

magpie said...

Thanks, Steve, I understand completely and sure appreciate your reassurance that we will have live streaming during the nesting season. You are the Perfect Leader on this, thank you so very very much for popping on here with an update. Once upon a time all we had was Still Cam...and we loved it then, and will continue to love it now!

Had to make a trip back to school to return a borrowed book to the teacher today, too. Am nowhere near caught up on the blog. Will have to try that tomorrow. Eyes are tired from reading, and have a better chance of being able to see straight in the morning. Hope you've all had a good day. Prayers being said for everyone. Good morning, everyone.

Wanda, I hope you found that sweet musical note in your sweet dreams last night.

I think Gabriela is spot on. We probably weren't an asset to the profit line.

Off to get my "do did" so I will be even more beauteous.

Hope everyone has a great morning,
Judie

WOW!! Two again!

"Busier than cats covering up pee." Never heard that expression before. I am having trouble keeping from giggling.

My students are quietly reading. I do not want to have to explain why I am giggling. Must be quiet.

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' SHIRLEY---That would be one way of getting your student's attention! ho!

I am very sorry to report that Koo has been euthanized. No specific details yet, but apparently vet felt that there was no good outcome. Rest in peace, poor Koo. Fly high and free in spririt.

Norma, still no obit on Nancy Hockensmith.
BTW....are you coming for Open House????Fri. night dinner? Sat. dinner? Need an answer for headcount!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

So sad about Koo but if she was not going to have a free life then this is a God thing! There are some things worse than death and the meaning of euthanasia is "good death".

stronghunter said...

Sad news, Loretta and Lynn. I wish the outcome for Koo had been different.

deb said...

The eagles are gone, glad I got to see them this morning.

One eagle back.

normabyrd said...

I share your pain--LORETTA and LYNN!---I just supposed she would live a long life educating children!! (that really hurts)---

normabyrd said...

lORETTA, what a beautiful comment from MOOSE about Koo. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I, for one, am glad Koo will not have to suffer anymore. What a terrible life it would have been, in the wild, trying to exist with a deformity such as that.
I feel, that without the efforts of Loretta and others, who emailed the authorities in Finland, Koo would have suffered a lonely and painful life. Seemed no one over there was willing to do anything until faithful viewers raised a ruckus! THE SQUEEKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL:)
