Lot A, Mits. Nice day, overcast all morning, humid but bearable. Got there around 8:15 and it was so quiet, got to see lots of animals with no crowds for a while.

This describes my summer:

I Meant To Do My Work Today
by Richard LeGallienne

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand,
So what could I do but laugh and go?

Mema Jo said...

Good - I too had never seen Koo's talons on his injured leg but I can now.

Shirley tomorrow marks the beginning of another good school year - I'll be thinking about you!

Kid had lots of fun and that's why we went. Her choice. Those pandas are cute, but I still love the red pandas and the sloth bears. Got to do the meet a kiwi program, it was great.

stronghunter said...

Thank you, Jo. I do hope it is a good year.

floralgirl said...

This would be a great activity-National zoo autumn conservation festival

Mits said...

I have always wanted to do the kiwi meet and great, he is the fast dude on the cam at night, red pandas are great, but I love the sloth bears, did you see the a.m. demo of them eating?

Mits said...

have a good day tomorrow, Shirley

Mits said...

prayers for you and your family on Friday, Paula.

floralgirl said...

We missed the sloth bear feeding cause we were still in the kiwi program. But we went back to the bears around 6 pm and they were out and active.

Mema Jo said...

All 3 chick were in the Finney nest but now only Koo is there.

Mits said...

that is great, Giant Pandas ignore people, sloth bears seem to enjoy people....did you take a picnic lunch.

Mema Jo said...

Megan did you stay on the Asia Trail or did you venture down to the Birds and by chance see the eagle?

Mits said...

they have 2 eagles there, Jo:)

Mema Jo said...

Oops! I only thought there was one.
Do you know if it is a male and female?

wvgal_dana said...

Jo the day we went to St. Vincent College at Latrobe was on Monday Aug 10th. That was the 9th day that the Steelers had practice. I looked at what you sent but that wasn't the day we went.

floralgirl said...

Oh please, we walked all over the whole zoo. My legs are still aching. Couldn't ge to the eagles cause the elephant house construction had some paths closed. we could not seem to get to them, the wolf or the otters. Spent a lot of time in the reptile house... and the bird house.

floralgirl said...

And yes, we ate a picnic lunch there, had a shady spot in the parking lot.

I got a Conflicted Edit too & I wasn't even editing!!!!Now I'm too pooped to rewrite!

Oh Boy, the Zoo. Daughter & I were there to see the sloth bears get their meal worms, etc. siphoned in!Didn't see the kiwi, When I've watched his cam at night, he is one busy little rascal!

Judie said...

Well, I got a conflicted edit message and I, too, am too tired to redo.

Will try to catch up again sometime tomorrow.

Turning out my light now but leaving the night light on.

Heading to bed here too, gotta get up early- nite all...

I'm not certain why we are all getting so many conflicting edits this evening You would expect it during the day when so many are on the blog.
It has happened twice to me so I am going to copy before I publish.

Dana Maybe PA NANA's son has a more recent copy. Darn I was hoping you and Ed would have a pic to remember - But then you got your visor!

I think the whole blog has been afflicted today...too many errors, goofs, etc. Google must be having trouble.
Night to all turning in---see you tomorrow evening, Shirley!!! We'll try not to talk about you while you're gone...LOL!!! Only good things!
Megan, glad you had a good day off----sure was a long one for you...no rest for the weary, huh? We really need to send you to the beach for a week!

Zoo Eagles
The Zoo houses two bald eagles in the Bald Eagle Refuge exhibit in Valley Trail, arriving from Tennessee in 2003. The flightless eagles living in this exhibit were discovered injured in the wild. The female was recovered in Alaska and the male was rescued in Pennsylvania.

wvgal_dana said...

I'll take 3 days Hedgie at Ocean City. Hotel please about 17th and Boardwalk facing the ocean and on the 2nd or 3rd floor. lol

Hi guys! I am home! The visit to Laurel's was fun. She worked in her classroom and I worked in her house. LOL Actually, we swam most of the time. I am really excited about Jacob learning to swim with me. We swam twice today and this afternoon he was jumping off the diving board and swimming to me on the side. He was having so much fun!

Behind on everything else, oh well, there's tomorrow night...

Gonna hit the hay, catch ya'll tomorrow night, too busy to really chat during the day.

Koo is wingercising and preening. That leg looks like it's in permanent flying positing.

Gnite.

Special prayers Paula for you and the family for Friday.

Paula, read about Friday. When we were in DC last Oct. we went to the Natl. Cemetery. Have an uncle buried there. Saw several funerals and was impressed with the service and respect given. Will be thinking of you Friday.

Hi Jim. It is after 1 AM in the east but I'm up due to pain of old age. ;o) I really enjoyed your link to the Panda cub. Soo tiny and hairless. I thought I saw the beginning of the black around the eyes.

Have checked the Finney nest and Koo has some company but has been acting different today. Yesterday she was very active and today not. Maybe she overdid it yesterday? ;o)

Where are you located? West coast?

PA Nana said...

If anyone is still on here, good night from PA.
God bless us, everyone.
