Made the split! Yes, Shirley...that was the "Ponderosa' as our friends called it....3500+ sq. ft.! The cabin now (post-divorce--he still has the big one) was built in '86. I bought it in '92. Small, but cozy! It was just a vacation cabin...but I've done a lot to it to make it a real home/house!
I read back first to make sure I wasn't repeating something if Sissy had already reported but she didn't, so here goes.
Mattie and her friend Olivia went wandering into the woods yesterday and came back to Sissy's house with a blonde dog. Seems it is the same dog that the little girl was hitting with a stick and Justin tried to protect. It appears to be part pit, part chow (block spots on its tongue) and maybe part lab. It is the sweetest dog. It ha a collar so somebody is probably looking for their dog.
Sissy went outside this morning to cut some flowers and fell. She hurt her knee and her chest, with the chest hurting the worst. We can just call her Grace.
My youngest was 17 when we moved in here, Shirley. We made some good memories while she was still home---living in a small place definitely brought us closer, literally and figuratively!! She couldn't go close herself up in a room alone! Her room only had a folding screen---previous owners had used it for a hot tub room! Doorway is about 7 ft. wide. Sharon, are the owners who was abusing the poor dog? Poor Sissy! What are we going to do with her? Hope she didn't bust any ribs like Mits did!
The dog stayed on Sissy's porch all night, whining and keeping the neighbor's dogs barking. She has called animal control and hopefully somebody has reported it missing and will be able to get it back. Animal control hasn't been here yet though.
Sissy felt something pop in her knee and her chest so. . . mtbr!
I hope if the dog has been abused that the owner doesn't get it back! I have ZERO tolerance for animal abuse (any abuse of anyone or thing) and being in the animal business for so many years I saw it often. There was more that one pet that we, uh "rescued" from a bad situation!
Not sure who the owner of this dog is. The girl that was hitting it with a stick does not own the dog. Sissy said it whines like it is really missing somebody.
Shirley and Lynne2 and Judie...if you go into my profile and click on "email me"--I'd sure like you to send me your e-mail addresses to add to my Momster list!
Hedgie, I'll send you my e-mail address when I go upstairs to my own computer. This one's defalt e-mail is my work e-mail, and it wants to connect me to that system and fusses at me because it can't find it.
(Yawn...) I'm getting a late start today, after sleeping in an extra 4 hours, AND taking a panda nap! Got Hubby off to work, and resumed snoozing. Woke up, got breakfast & 2big mugs of coffee, took a panda nap, and here I am. Guess my poor brain was really fried yesterday!
Good news-- got 3 more tests back last night, and got a B, and 2 As! Thank God!! Feel good about the exam last night, too. Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement-- they really helped! I'm not studying at ALL today; will resume full speed tomorrow. Gotta give the gray matter a rest-- enough already!
DEB, I'm SO sorry to hear that you have the stomach flu! I swear, I'd rather have almost anything else, myself. Thank God I hardly ever get the part where you hurl. The diet that ALWAYS worked when I was in my stay-at-home-Mom mode is the 'BRAT' diet: Bananas (ripe), Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. (That's after 24 hours of clear liquids.) Once you're OK on that, gradually add more easy-to-digest stuff, until you're good to go. Jello is always a good thing, whether still liquid, or completely set. Try to avoid fatty foods until totally OK. Make SURE to drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest. (I'm sure you already know that!) Prayers for your swift recovery!
Hey, you guys, We have a fledgling black-capped night heron who's hanging out in our back yard. He showed up just before dinner last night, flew off, and now he's back. Got a pretty good picture of him. He's about the size of a chicken, but with longer legs. A real sweetheart!
Lynne, so glad you got your blog built! Left you a comment. Sometimes the blogger cop makes things difficult. When I tried to post the snake pics last week, it took three tries before they appeared!!
Well, it is 2:30 here and still we sit and twiddle our thumbs. Can you hear us screaming in frustration?
Sorry to hear about Sissy's fall. Guess we are all in good company!
They have told us that if we are still here in the morning we will have hot air balloons going over us. Approx. 30 or so. That will be interesting.....but hope we are not here!!!!
Excuse me while I scream.......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Lolly, feel your frustration! But seeing the balloons would be a fun experience, so get your camera ready!!! Remember what they say....everything happens for a reason, so we will assume that this is part of the Fathers' plan for a GOOD reason. Amen.
Good to see you stopping in Dana - hope things are going well in the Ed department, glad to see he made it back from his haircut !
Have some good ISS viewing up in the next few days and weeks, including some double showings - very early in the morning, and quite late in the evening. ISS = International Space Station.
High-fives again Ms Bookworm for your A's and a B - and so glad you are taking a day of rest ! Sounds like it is well deserved, and probably, much needed.
Sure hope Deb is doing okay, don't think she made it back to the blog after posting about her malaise....(Big Frowns)
Well, it is about that time. Got enough food packed for work to feed a small army.
That leaves me time to find some RED red to wear, since my work day leads into Friday - to show Honor and Tribue to ALL our Military personnel, active, past, and gone before us.
Oops....forgot to give my congrats to Andrea on her excellent grades! Way to go, girl! Margy, fireworks noise has been bad around here all week....so bet it's only going to get worse, here and everywhere. Just hope no idiots get maimed!
Turning the computer over to Joseph. We have plans for coming back to New Mexico for the Albuquerque ballon fiesta in Oct. It will be cooler then. Do not need balloons now. Want to go home.
Yup, this little (?!) guy is one of many from our trees. It's sounding like a 3-ring circus out there! Poor Hubby can barely sleep at night with all the racket. (I could sleep through a 27-piece band!) Our very own annual Pterodactyl convention! There are so many nests I'm not sure which one this guy's from. Can't see any of them the trees are so thick with leaves. Bet he's one of the first to hatch, though.
I am having a terrible time with the cam...whenever I try to close it, it freezes me up and throws me off the net. Wonder what that's all about? It did it yesterday, too.
Okay, have my Red, White AND Blue on....and ready to go do battle at 911, though I hope the battles are few and far between, and very uncomplicated, nor destructive, dishonest, or hurtful. That's a lot to ask for, so I take prayers along on the ride to work.
Don't usually exactly pray for Inanimate things, but I will today, for vehicles and machines.
And, of course, Prayers for all, for Wellness, Safety, Comfort, Joy, Strength and Serenity.
Steve - hope you have a wonderful week-end. Very proud of you for all the hard work I know you are doing at the Sc3 conference. And thanks always for taking care of our Eagle Needs !
Hedgie, I'm having trouble with the cam today (and yesterday), too. Whenever it stops and I have to restart it, it takes about 4 or 5 refreshes to get it going again. Keep getting the dreaded 'barber pole' instead. :o[
Sorry you are having trouble with it, too, Andrea....guess "it is what it is"---still wish the still cam was working. I can keep it up forever w/out a problem, WHEN IT WORKS! Nope, no sign of Bozzett in a long time. Many come and then just disappear, but thought she was going to be a stayer.
Hey, speaking of Bozzett, I thought she was going to be a permanent fixture on here. She, I believe was from Cross Junction, Wv. and was planning on coming to our Open House in Oct. Enjoyed chatting with her. It has been awhile...hope she isn't ill. Maybe she is on vacation.
Sharon, so happy to know the yellow dog has a sanctuary and Chance is a great symbolic name. Hope Sissy is better soon.
Andrea: How I do wish I could have all my classes filled with clones of you! Congratulations.
Lolly: I think you are the person stuck trying to get home. Hope that happens soon but if not, enjoy the balloons. If you're not the right person, please buy some balloons and enjoy them, anyway.
Ed& Dana: prayers still coming your way.
Magpie: may the holiday weekend be quiet and uneventful.
Hedgie: I'll send along my email.
Deb: hoping for a quick recovery for you.
Didn't see Hidey today. Hope to get a peek before the sandman visits.
Quiet here. Beginning to work on Fall classes. Began researching domestic violence to add to the crime class. Thought about adding a section on terrorism but that can open up a very ugly can of worms with a very international group of students.
Happy holiday weekend to everyone in eagle land and bless our brave military warriors.

Made the split!

Hello all my eagle budlets!
I have had the cedar waxwing in the flicker tree on and off again today.
My post-divorce home is smaller than the one we built together--but it is mine. The twins and I planned it and moved in in 1995.
I read back first to make sure I wasn't repeating something if Sissy had already reported but she didn't, so here goes.

Hey Sharon! What did they do with the dog?
Poor Sissy...hope you are OK!
Please give Sissy my best wishes, Sharon. Hope she recovers quickly.
Wonder if the dog has an ID chip. My kitty does.

My twins were 15 when we moved in. My son is still here. My house is in a subdivision . . . not the lovely wooded lot you have, but I enjoy it.

Sharon, I've got a flicker on the corn at the moment. Wonder where it has/had its nest??
Really have to do some mowing this morning. Yesterday I got interrupted by rain and it is likely to happen again today.
Will return . . .
Not sure who the owner of this dog is. The girl that was hitting it with a stick does not own the dog. Sissy said it whines like it is really missing somebody.

Got most of the front yard mowed. Taking a break for a drink of water. It does look like it could rain at any time.
Sharon....if you don't find the owner....are you going to let Animal Control take it or are you or Sissy going to adopt?
Looks like that here, too, Shirley! It's in the forecast.
OK, I finally got around to doing a blog today, but, is it me or is there sometimes a problem adding pictures? I can't seem to add any more!
Good afternoon, everybody,
(Yawn...) I'm getting a late start today, after sleeping in an extra 4 hours, AND taking a panda nap! Got Hubby off to work, and resumed snoozing. Woke up, got breakfast & 2big mugs of coffee, took a panda nap, and here I am. Guess my poor brain was really fried yesterday!

Hey, you guys,
We have a fledgling black-capped night heron who's hanging out in our back yard. He showed up just before dinner last night, flew off, and now he's back. Got a pretty good picture of him. He's about the size of a chicken, but with longer legs. A real sweetheart!
Here's another picture of the little guy-- you might be able to see him better in this one.
It's looking kinda windy at the nest-- is it threatening to rain again?
Andrea, he is so cute!
Spotty showers near the nest area, nothing to scary looking on the way, at least right now!
Can't see Hidey, but he's talking!
Sounds close.
Good Day to Everyone in Eagleland and Watchers.
I haven't caught up on comments.
Hope everyone is ok and having or going to have some family/friends cook outs on cook ins.
Lynne, so glad you got your blog built! Left you a comment. Sometimes the blogger cop makes things difficult. When I tried to post the snake pics last week, it took three tries before they appeared!!

Getting quite breezy here now...MAYBE a storm is coming...don't hear any thunder yet.
Andrea, lovely bird you have there! Is he a yuongster from the nest in your tree?
Lolly, feel your frustration! But seeing the balloons would be a fun experience, so get your camera ready!!!
Remember what they say....everything happens for a reason, so we will assume that this is part of the Fathers' plan for a GOOD reason. Amen.
Well on and off fast lol
Storm looks to be heading this way.
Have to get Ed to cook out up street before it rains with all his tanks.
HAVE A GOOD DAY
HAPPY BELATED ONLY ON THE BLOG

Rained a few drops...now sun coming back out.
Have fun at the cookout, Dana and Ed! Eat some goodies for me.
Good Afternoon Eagle Pals...
Good to see you stopping in Dana - hope things are going well in the Ed department, glad to see he made it back from his haircut !

Here is the link to find out for your area:
ISS for ALL
Great night-capped green heron picture, Andrea...I didn't open up the blog in time to see the first pic...but the second one is Great !
Man oh Man, Lolly - you will be writing not a book but an encyclopedia about this trip !
Maybe those balloons will make it all worth while....
Woof, roadways are crowded...went out at lunch time and everything was pretty busy.
Safe travel wishes for everyone. I think this must be Flip-Flop Day for Paula
We have "fireworks" complaint type in our CAD (computer aided dispatch) at work, sure that one is going to fill up big time for the next few days.
High-fives again Ms Bookworm for your A's and a B -

Sissy! I hope you are doing okay, and all aches, pains and boo boos are healed in time for your Anniversary ♥
Oops....forgot to give my congrats to Andrea on her excellent grades! Way to go, girl!
Margy, fireworks noise has been bad around here all week....so bet it's only going to get worse, here and everywhere. Just hope no idiots get maimed!
Well, it appears that "Chance", the found dog, will be staying at the Riffe's for a while. I knew once she named him it was over.
Yes, Lynne, will try to be more patient.
Turning the computer over to Joseph. We have plans for coming back to New Mexico for the Albuquerque ballon fiesta in Oct. It will be cooler then. Do not need balloons now. Want to go home.

Hey, Shar....had that gut feeling!! One of my best buds has a dog named Chance!
Poor Lolly....not a happy camper anymore.
Hi, Hedgie,
Yup, this little (?!) guy is one of many from our trees. It's sounding like a 3-ring circus out there! Poor Hubby can barely sleep at night with all the racket. Oh, I'm SO glad that 'Chance' has a new home! That poor pup sure needed a break! I wouldn't have been able to resist him either, I'm afraid. :o]

Golly Neds, been meaning to say this all day:
Steve - hope you have a wonderful week-end. Very proud of you for all the hard work I know you are doing at the Sc3 conference. And thanks always for taking care of our Eagle Needs !
Hedgie, thanks for the congrats!--Margy, thanks to you, too! All those prayers from everyone are much appreciated!
Hope Deb is doing OK-- maybe she's taking a panda nap. Sounds like a good idea.
You know what? I haven't seen Bozzett on here lately. Has anyone else? Hope all's OK.
Sissy, hope you're feeling better, and not too beat up. Prayers are continuing for your speedy recovery!
Well, guess it's about time I got my caboose in gear today. Will do a bit of cleaning up, and be back shortly. :o]

Hope she is okay, too, Wanda. I, too, thought she was coming in Oct. Her daughter lives in CharlesTown.
Bibee is also MIA!
Mits, are you home yet???????
