Thanks much for the new thread, Steve, and thanks to Ceil for the notice.

I mentioned at the end of the other thread that the BW cams are up again.

They are usually not down for long.
Saw the BWO osprey this morning. I do have a hard time seeing it. I think they need new cams.

I very seldom do this but I think I need a panda nap. BBL
Thinking of Dana and hoping for good news on Ed.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh, I would love a panda nap but got to get work done first.

hedgie said...

Jim, right---didn't mean to say that Gordon was on I love Lucy, just on The Lucille Ball Show(s). Remember Ann Sothern, but not that particular show, and all the others y'all mentioned except Marion Lorne....who (s)he????
Welk was my grandparents' fav----I got stuck watching it many a Sat.(?) night...did like The Lennon Sisters and Bobby and was it Myron ?Flores?

Glad you took the photos of Justin, Bluefield gang.
Wanda, your garden sounds like it will be bountiful.

Costume Lady said...

Thank you Ceil and BUSY STEVE!

Yes, Ceil...stil praying for a good outcome for Ed. Seems that couple have more health problems than they can handle. Glad they look to the Lord for the strength to handle it all.

hedgie said...

I did take a panda nap after lunch!!! Terrible....don't know if I will ever get used to doing that! Could never nap before I retired----would always end up w/ a splitting headache...not now!! Guess it's one of those well-deserved rewards now that we don't have to "punch the clock" anymore!

Costume Lady said...

I'm not sure who Jim was speaking of. Maybe Myrna Loy, actress?
My Mom and Dad were fortunate enough to travel to Las Vegas and see many stars that were popular in the 60's. They had friend who lived there and they visited every year. They particularly liked Lawrence Welk show with the Lennon Sisters (they were able to meet an talk with them). I guess that is why she enjoys them so much now. They also saw Elvis, Humperdinct, Sinatra, S. Davis and many others. It was the highlight of their lives.

I see Hidey, too!!

Looks like chow time, but between breeze, shadows and blob, hard to tell what exactly.

deb said...

I was just reading on the other blog all the talk about Lawrence Welk. He is from North Dakota and Myron Floren was from Roslyn, SD.

Hidey just took off.

And poof!

Adult just landed.

thanks for the call over Ceil, and new thread, Steve. Lunch was great, went to BB&B and got a Shark floor cleaner...have to go out for awhile BBL

deb said...

And gone that fast. It was a silent landing.

Mema Jo said...

Yes, you would have missed him if you hadn't been watching!

hedgie said...

Thanks, Deb...I was close on Myron's last name. Whoa...always thought Welk was from Minnesota! Thanks for that info, too.

deb said...

Lynn, if he weren't from SD, I wouldn't know it either!

deb said...

All caught up!

Paula, glad you had a great weekend with CHIL group.

Justin, I am so sorry for what happened to you! I hope you keep feeling better!

Dana and Ed, sure hope the test go well!

Costume Lady said...

Can't you just hear that Champaigne Music from the begining of the show in your ears? Da, Dada, Dadaa, Dat, Dum, Dum...Sorry I know I can't sing:)

deb said...

Do Kestrels have two batches a year, I wonder? There has been a Kestrel in the nest both yesterday and today. It looks like she is on eggs again.

I will have to check again when I get home from work.

Missed Hidey visit, but hear clunking sounds near the mic.
Been planting stuff outside--2 lavenders to go,but have to get lime---brutal in the sun even tho there is a breeze.
I think Marion Lorne
played "Richie's" Mom on Happy Days.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, you guys,

I'm back, after sending out some resumes to keep the EDD happy. Got to go and mail my continued claim form back to them now, but thought I'd stop by here first.

Sorry to hear that Gale Storm has passed away-- used to watch her show as a kid. Charles Farrell was the actor who co-starred with her.

Used to watch the Ann Southern show, too. I think it was Don Porter who played her boss.

I remember Marion Lorne! She was a real character; used to get all 'flustered'. Think she had a British accent; older lady with big eyes and curly hair. She was on the 'Mr. Peepers' show with Wally Cox and I think Tony Randall, then later was on 'Bewitched'.

Myron Floren's brother, Dewey, who wasn't in show biz, used to do car repairs at a Mobil station a couple of blocks from our house. Don't know what became of him, but the gas station changed hands a couple of times, and we lost track of him.
He was really a nice guy, and a car repairman you could actually trust. Sorry he's not there anymore.

Any news from DANA & ED?----have been anxious to hear!

hedgie said...

Nope, Lowreeda...that was Marion Ross!

hedgie said...

Cool, Andrea!! Even the famous have nice relatives!! More so back then, I bet, than now!!

Good Evening ALL in Eagleland.

I haven't had a chance to read comments. Just woke up and started some food. Neither one of us slept too much last night. Came home and out we went.

Wanted to come on and THANK YOU ALL FOR PRAYERS. The procedure went very well. The team had been worried for a week. Which of course we didn't know until this morning. The nodule is on the inside of lung on the back wall not the side. Really hard to get too with the ribs and area it was.
But GOD GOT THEM THERE AND THEY GOT 3 TISSUE SAMPLES FROM IT. So we should hear something in 1 to 3 days.

The only tears I have gotten are the ones remembering prayers are going and have been going up. I know this has been a long prayer session. I am still asking for continual prayer.

I can not tell you all how much comfort you give me just knowing that you are praying for us.

Ed did very well. There was some blood but they were able to aspirate that out of the lung. He just needs to rest and take it easy for 24 hrs.

Tee hee he is already talking about going to get a hair cut tomorrow.

Thank you so much HUGS HUGS HUGS TO YOU ALL.

I'll try to get back on later....thank you again for the comfort of your prayers.

Mema Jo said...

Thank you so much Dana for letting us know that your day went well and go ahead and take that man of yours for his haircut tomorrow! Continued prayers for sure! ((hugs))

Hi everyone! Hidey's in the nest so who's making that noise at the cam? Could the wind be that strong?
Also, what's the temp at the nest site? Sorry, lots of questions, but I just signed in to check on Hidey and wondered if it's very hot since s/he looks like s/he's panting.
God bless,

hedgie said...

Dana, so relieved to hear that the procedure went smoothly. Will continue to pray that the results are good. Hope you don't have to wait too long to know. You go ahead and cry, girl!!! It's good to relieve the tension. Hugs for you and Mr. Ed!

PA Nana said...

Thanks hedgie. I'm in PA and our weather is certainly not like WV or any other part of the country.
In fact, we're having lower than normal temps - hasn't hit 90 degrees in June, so far. I remember the triple digits at this time of year in 1966 - I had my second child in 107 degrees! There was no a/c in patients' rooms then. It's still a record.

Ms Bookworm said...

Dana, SOOOO relieved that all went well for you and Ed today! Will keep on praying. Hope Ed recovers from the procedure really quickly, and is feeling much better now. God bless you both!

So happy to see Hidey for a bit, but had to run to the Post Office right away. Now that I'm back, gotta run and get some quick dinner, take a shower, and zoom off to school-- Keyboarding tonight.

If I get home early enough, will be back later tonight. Take care, all!

Nice videos on the BWE site. On the one the eaglet looks up into the cam.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for checking on the still cam, Steve. I use it instead of keeping the live feed up all the time, then turn on the live feed when there's an eagle in the nest.

How is everyone this evening?

paula eagleholic said...

Nature - I have heard of that lavender place you went to in Fairfield. Right up the road from here.

Dana - glad all went well, hope Ed recovers quickly.

jmp said...

Hello everyone,

Late in the day but thanks Steve.

I remember all the folks from the television programs. Seeing their names sure brings back memories. I think the Ann Sothern thing were the very long dark lashes and the large dark lips -- that's what I remember. Was supposed to be glamorous back then, I think.

Saw Hidey earlier really giving adult the what-for. Can't blame adult for taking off.

Bookworm: all the best with tests this week. Hoping for aces all round.

Ed and Dana: happy to know the procedure went smoothly and prayers for a positive outcome.

Also hope Justin is mending quickly.

Last night a deer came to visit but sadly had a broken leg. Problem we have in my area is the construction of new hot lanes which has taken away much territory around the creek and the deer are being forced to move inward for food. Broke my heart because it was so beautiful to watch eating the seed put out for the birds and squirrels. Am having to teach Thumper not to eat my garden.

I hear Hidey.

Best to all,
Judie

Costume Lady said...

I just read in a magazine that Lavendar has legandary mood-boosting powers. It's oils absorb into your skin, in your bloodstream, goes to your brain, and says, 'Everything is going to be okay.' You can also make a tea out of it.

stronghunter said...

I see Hidey munching away on something.

stronghunter said...

Lavender . . . we lived in a house in the city for awhile where there were lavender plants that had been there for years. It was beautiful and attracted lots of bumblebees. They seemed to love it.

It was fine, except it was on either side of the walk and it was a little scary to walk through all of those bees. Have you all noticed bumblebees in lavender?

stronghunter said...

What does Hidey have?

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey is at 2 munching away!

paula eagleholic said...

Looks like fish

stronghunter said...

There is some big white thing at about 11:00--Did Hidey bring that in?

Mits said...

Wanda, G&T gives me the same effect

paula eagleholic said...

That is a piece of bark from the tree, it curls and peels off and falls off

jmp said...

Hidey finishing fish with dessert waiting at 11.

Forgot: more sadness for Red Line train - man jumped in front of a train this afternoon - died - more delays for passengers - will have to email sympathy to my Metro detectives as they have had a horrible week.

Judie

Mits said...

they sure have Judie....I really like DC's metro...

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey is looking full!

stronghunter said...

My Suzi and Hunter rode the Red Line last week without any problems. I had not heard about today's events. Sad.

Costume Lady said...

You can make tea from bark, also;)

paula eagleholic said...

Poof went Hidey

stronghunter said...

Suzi said it was so crowded that she had to push Hunter into the train and the poor kid was smashed in between all the adults--standing room only. He did not like that part, but it did not last long. Not many 8 year olds on the Metro at rush hour.

stronghunter said...

Doubt Hidey is into making tea!

Costume Lady said...

ROFLMBO, Helen! G&T probably tastes better than Lavender tea, too.

jmp said...

I don't use the red line but have used the orange line for over 20years with only two or three short delays in all those years. Did have to attend a faculty meeting today and when I boarded the train I have to admit I gave the crash some thought. Still, I truly believe with the crazy drivers and traffic volume around here the train is still safer. One of the things I had to get used to is having the police students leave mid-class because called to a crime scene. Most people don't realize how affected cops are by the crimes they work -- tough on the job but real caring people underneath all the professional training. Some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Judie

Seems Hidey is poof.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Lib and Belle were just arguing over food.

Costume Lady said...

I'm sure what you say about cops is true, Judie. If you ever have watched the "Cops" show, you will see what all they have to go through. And that is only the traffic division. Boy do they get bent out of shape if something happens to one of their own! Just like we Momsters;)

Costume Lady said...

I thought it looked like a turtle. "Lib, would you like some tea with that?"

hedgie said...

I like Metro, too. Feel that the press is hyping the bad and ignoring all of the good and the benefits. Compare it to other transit systems, and use rider opinion...bet it would win 1st place! I think it's clean; there's no homeless people living in the stations, and there's not a high crime level on the trains. That all counts for a lot!

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, don't look at the nest, Spidey is showing himself;)

hedgie said...

No, Wanda, I practically never look after the infrared comes on!!

jmp said...

Of course I watch some cop shows and Law & Order, etc. because my undergraduate students in the crime class are always asking me about them and I have to convince them that a career in law enforcement is NOT like t.v.-- try forgetting a homicide scene or decomposed bodies! As for taking care of their own, detectives in a night class refused to let me take the train home when there was a rapist active near my station stop. I got to ride in a real unmarked cruiser in the front seat without wearing handcuffs. They really are caring people. I think Metro is the best in the U.S. Aging, like me, but still the best.

Judie

Costume Lady said...

I like that: Aging, but still the best;)

I am home from work, glad to see Hidey in the nest. I hear people cheering! I wonder if that is the conference Steve is involved with. I don't remember the date for it.

BTW, Sharon, my Karla is home from the beach. We can like her now:)
You are one funny gal...crack me up!

They are 9th to 12th grader, enjoying themselves.

deb said...

It must be a rerun of the season, I didn't find anything about having more than one brood. I didn't think they did, but I wanted to check the facts.

Coming on to say hello - busy getting some things ready for a tomorrow morning get together for the Germany Gang with those they haven't seen yet.
This will be there last full week here. I think Ryan is also coming up from GA this holiday weekend for a few days. I sure wish the 2 Army guys could spend some time with each other. It may happen. I'll be back to say good night - It is a beautiful evening outside & the sky is clear and moon is so bright!

stronghunter said...

Hello Jo . . . will have to go take a look at the moon.

deb said...

Here is a story on how they get the fireworks ready on Mount Rushmore:

magpie said...

Okay, sounds pretty good on here. Flowers, animals, birds, G&T's, good report from Dana - and some Eagle sightings.

Wanda - the cows have been moved across the street in preparation for the July 4 Fireworks. Dr. T. always calls and tells us at work that he is doing that.

xoxo Hi Everyone

magpie said...

I wasn't napping ALL this time, got a call that the grandson was going to be in Martinsburg so had some unexpected kid fun to go with my night off ☺

deb said...

Yes, Dana and Ed, I am sure glad the procedure went well today, definitely praying for good results.

magpie said...

What a strange noise on our cam just now....

deb said...

I heard it, too, Margy, but after the other day when I thought the music was coming from the cam, I am waiting for someone else to confirm it.

Costume Lady said...

Margy, glad they got the cows out of the way. Lets us know that the fireworks are going to be at the same place.
Having BBQ Ribs this year. I think Helen is healed up enough now that I won't feel bad about eating ribs;)
Come join us!

deb said...

I am falling asleep in my chair, time to read for awhile and head for bed.

Night, everyone. Glad you got your kid time in today, Margy!

Costume Lady said...

Night Deb...Sweet Dreams.

hedgie said...

G'night, Mits and Deb! Are you heading home tomorrow, Mits?

magpie said...

Hi again, folks.
Wanda, sounds yummy! Think that nice police officer will visit again ????

Lynn - in regards to a much much earlier comment, well, I guess I COULD get fired, if it was a felony, as some of those charges down South were, I think...but I think with a misdemeanor I could stay on. Guess it would not be wise to test the waters though...

Time for the bubbles, got sticky with ice cream cone and general play dirt tonight.

Good Night to those heading for the pillows!

and I will catch some of you a little later on.

I hear a chopper, wonder if it is coming this way....will know in a few short minutes

hedgie said...

Margy, when does your vacation start? Amtrak adventure sounds really cool!! Bet James is excited.

magpie said...

Lynn, my vacation starts at one minute after midnight on July 11 - and I return to work at midnight the night of Sunday July 19. We will probably take MARC commuter to Washington, then Amtrak up and down to Springfield, Mass, leaving Monday and returning Friday probably. We have been talking about it for a year! My sister there has a son 8 years old and a daughter 6.

magpie said...

I've been putting back some dough for it for several months now. To drive, would take 10 hours, not a good idea, just him and me.

magpie said...

I want to say hello in advance to anyone who jumps on late. And to ALL, I apologize that I can't keep up with all the comments and doings...I read them and enjoy hearing what everyone is doing but I don't always get a chance to comment on it. ☺

magpie said...

Once I get started I seem to eat up a lot of Blog space....so sometimes I try to be "conservative."
Ha Ha, not my strong suit!

Costume Lady said...

Train is an excellent way to enjoy each other. You will be free to point out places and things of interest without running off the road and your food and bathroom is right there. I'm excited for you and James. It will be fun to see your photos;)

magpie said...

Just opened up the Black Stork nest site (Kurepesa) for the first time this year...it is dreamy!

Costume Lady said...

Don't need to comment, Margy, just enjoy. Of course, if someone asks you a question, you darn well BETTER comment!:)

I have been watching a yearling buck w/ cute little velvet spikes...he was working on what's left of the salt lick. He was watching me, too...so didn't try to get camera...I just stood perfectly still for about 15 min. before he wandered away. So lovely!

update on NZ red pandas....

Red Pandas – the pool has been dropped in the red panda yard as a pre-(possible)birth preparation . We still don’t know if she’s pregnant or not but we’re taking precautions as if she is. The walkway in front of the red panda yard will be closed off some time this week as well to reduce stress. We are also planning on putting up those black boards on the windows again so Shama won’t see her reflection and think another panda is there. We’ve seen some pacing in front of the windows again that suggests it’s bothering her. The window for possible birth if she is pregnant is the month of July. We’ll let you know if we find out any more. . .

Do you recall how old the Maine chicks are, Jim? Have they fledged yet? I have not been watching them in a long time!

deb said...

The Maine 2 chicks hatched on May 7 and May 9.

hedgie said...

Oh, Mits, let's hope this isn't another disappointment!!! Glad that all precautions are being instituted.

Thanks, Deb! Still nestbound babies!!

All right now, the daytime bandit has struck and I have to go back to bed. Have a 12-hour shift coming up at 6 pm tonight. :(

Great reports of all the birds (except Sharon's Flickers fledging! Hope they return often! )

Mockinbirds! One of my favorite birds. At night-time at the office, I can step outside and hear a whole forest and meadow full of bird songs.

Good to see so many cheery greetings. Rain tonight, - woof - we need it but some friends of mine are going to a ballgame in either Washington or Baltimore...Sigh for them....

Hope the afternoon and the rest of the West Coast Morning is a good one for everyone. See you in a few hours.

Deb Hope you enjoy being "retired" for the day. ☺

I have yet to see my first Fawn, Norma ....or a buck in velvet, Hedgie.

Afternoon to those in Eagleland

Need to read comments.

Did see when scrolling down that Sharon's flickers fledged. I love the slideshow.

Mr. Ed went for his haircut himself. Took my phone with him. He should be flustered by the time he gets back. With all the oxygen changes; which I usually do for him. He doesn't really every use my phone..poor man.

It might be a great experience for him, Dana -
Maybe he is getting ready for Independence Day !

Not to worry....he should be fine, and he has YOU to come home to ♥

Just had a heavy downpour here, looks like maybe more showers coming, I hope so. We need rain, so don't complain, remember, into each life some rain must fall ♫♪♫

Good morning/afternoon, eagle buddies!

Have sort of skimmed through some of the blog-- Sharon & Jo, it's the continuing saga of "All My Flickers"! Let's hear you say "fledged flickers" 10 times in a row, really fast! LOL :oD

Stronghunter, if you ever tire of your 'mockingbird fireplace', you can send it to me! I LOVE mockers! They've got spunk! (And, just like me, they often can't sleep at night!)

Dana, so glad Mr. Ed had enough get-up-and-go to get his haircut by himself! Way to go! (Don't worry-- he'll just appreciate your help that much more by the time he's home!) Continued prayers for you guys-- we're all in this together.

wvgal_dana said...

Yes Margy I believe with all the stress he has been under. Out on his own for awhile today. Will probably reset his lifes routine.

Your right there Megan we do need the rain...no complaints here. Not even when I have to go out in it later today. ( :

wvgal_dana said...

I'm going to take a little nap while hubby is gone. Phone is right beside my bed. He'll be ok with his short day out.

hedgie said...

Whoa....big boomers...shutting down for now! Stay safe, everyone.

floralgirl said...

Darn, looks like the rest of storms are passing me by...off to water the gardens.

Ms Bookworm said...

Boy, I'm really jealous of the weather you guys are having at the nest! I love it when it rains! It's been way too hot for me in SoCal lately. Sunday's heat nearly did me in! Seems much better today, so far. :o]

Wow-- had a great night at school last night! My typing speed is up to 55 wpm! Jumped about 10 wpm in one week! All the practice is paying off-- I had not typed anything lengthy in over a year, and was really rusty. 5 more wpm, and I don't think I'll have to take any more Keyboard classes. That would be awesome-- leaves more time for the really good stuff!

Andrea, that is great. Practice makes perfect.

GOOD AFTERNOON...
Not a drop of rain at my place. Lynn and Megan both had some..just passed me by. I'll have to water my garden too. Then it will rain:)

Andrea, you are just taking that medical course by storm!! So happy that it is working out for you. Keep up the good work;)

Ms Bookworm said...

Thanks, Sharon,
You're right! Practice makes a big difference. Now today I have to concentrate on studying for an exam in Human Diseases-- chapters on all the senses-- including touch, senses of pressure, pain, body position, and kinesthesia, and on the endocrine system & hormones.
Needless to say, I just went and got a new cup of coffee. Glad I slept in a bit this morning!

Ms Bookworm said...

Costume Lady,

Thanks for the encouraging words, and thanks, too for reminding me to go water my patio plants! It's not going to be a scorcher here today, but in the low to mid-80s, so they will be thirsty.

By the way, I bought some Coleus seeds the other day. Has anybody ever started Coleus from seed? I'm wondering if I need to start them indoors, or if I can plant them outside where I want them (in a large pot on my front porch). There's certainly no danger of frost, and the pot's on the north side of the house where it only gets partial, filtered sunlight. I think it should be OK, but if there's a Coleus expert in the group, I'd appreciate some advice. I've never tried them from seed before.

stronghunter said...

Andrea . . . congrats on all of your progress.

West VA folks . . . wonder if you're sending me thunderstorms. It looks like something is building up outdoors.

I think I'll keep my mockingbirds. They are spirited little guys.

When I taught freshmen, we read "To Kill a Mockingbird." The first thing I had to do was convince the boys that I was not going to teach them HOW to kill mockingbirds. In fact, Atticus told the children that it was a sin to kill a mockingbird.

Ms Bookworm said...

Thanks, Stronghunter,
and I don't blame you for keeping the mockingbirds. I'm hoping that the ones I have this year will stick around. They're so fearless I'm afraid our hawks will get them!
Gee, what's up with the cam? Mine keeps freezing, and I'm getting the dreaded barber pole! Be back in a sec-- will try to fix it.

Ms Bookworm said...

Thought I heard Hidey in the distance a little while ago, but by the time I got the cam working, there was no sign of him. Did anyone else hear our Hidey?

stronghunter said...

Andrea, I grew coleus years ago in a shady spot in my backyard. I do not remember if I planted it from seeds or not, but it grew happily.

But I am not an expert on growing plants. Megan probably knows all about coleus.

stronghunter said...

I don't see Hidey. Barber pole is spinning away. Sometimes I cover it up. It could make you crosseyed.

Ms Bookworm said...

Normabyrd,
Your fawn story reminds me of the time my parents and I stayed at Yosemite one year...about 50+ years ago-!!! We were in one of the housekeeping cabins, and a deer with a huge rack in velvet kept wanting to come into our cabin! He seemed totally tame, but we were afraid that if he came indoors and then got spooked, that would be a disaster! The squirrels and the birds were totally fearless, too. We had Steller jays landing on us to beg for seeds! No WONDER I love that place.

stronghunter said...

Hidey is nearby!

Ms Bookworm said...

I think Hidey just landed above the camera-- I definitely heard him. Now it sounds like a bit of a tap dance up there. Quiet now, though. Did anyone else hear that?

stronghunter said...

Yes .. . I heard a landing and a little "peep." Now I hear movements.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hey, Hidey! C'mon down! (You little imp!)

Ms Bookworm said...

...Pleez, Hidey? Come on, I need my Hidey fix for the day, then I gotta get really busy. ;o]
