I had a disagreement with my sister recently about the rhubarb. As I remember it, rhubarb was regarded as poison. And in fact I think I helped on this step a time or two, Mom would use only the red stalk and maybe a little of the white ... never the greens. She would cut it into short chunks and simmer it in water for a half hour or more. Then, after throwing the water out, she could bake with it or make whatever she wanted with it.
My sister says she doesn't remember that step, but she's five years younger and could have missed it.
Good day!! LOL Slept til 10:00 and have been on facebook and reading past blogs. So, I still want to say "good morning".
Was over in Dallas from early in the morning 'til 12:20 AM this morning. Should have spent the night. However, sleeping in my on bed til late was great. Can I complain about parent abuse? Actually LOVED helping Michael and Ashley. There is so little that we can help them with, that helping with the move was great.
Jack kept getting lost. He could not fine the upstairs living area and upstairs kitchen. LOL He always had directional problems. LOL No, it is a house you can really get lost in. It is absolutely gorgeous! The kitchen is a dream and they do not even cook much. They eat out! Zach was in hog heaven with his new playroom. He was sooo cute!
Osprey chick at Loch of the Lowe's in Scotland hogging a nice big fish. I haven't been able to get into Pix Pa today...says broadcast is not available any more. But I can see Finney's !
My early morning birdwatching was unbelievable. Saw many families, starting with a doe and two spotted fawns (finally a fawn sighting for me!) At the creek, two different fawns ran across the creek and surprised a Great Blue Heron - all three were spooked and took off in different directions. Also saw one Green Heron, and a bunch of families: Indigo Buntings, Eastern Meadowlarks, Pileated Woodpeckers, and saw one wren, I think a Carolina wren, who grabbed some chow and took it to the nest and then there was a peeping fest!
Also saw a turtle in the water which I think is called a musk turtle, two big carp, a bunch of goldfinches. And, I was finally able to SEE the Philadelphia Vireo that I always hear out there. It was grabbing insects off leaves I think.
Oh yes, three ducks which I am still trying to identify, maybe blue-winged teals but I don't know my ducks very well. No pictures of them...And, I heard more cidacas. It was a perfect morning at Swinging Bridge, absolutely no one around, and only one car passed by the entire time.
And, someone/s stole the sign for the Wildlife Management....which has all the regulations and other important information. Just checked with DNR, they know about it
Probably ended up as firewood in a campfire pile somewhere :(
Yeah, Paula... I wanted to go check out the nest and babies but figured I might get pecked !
LOL I have learned my lesson the hard way! If I plant something at their house they do not truly appreciate the hard work. They do not water nor tend to pots. They will have lawn people and so be it! Like I said....I learned the hard way!
Judie, Kathryn just called. Hunter has a football practice tomorrow morning, so I will be alone. I will be wearing my bright pink capri pants. They have white leaf designs. I think you will be able to spot me.
Hello all:) Lolly, that house is absolutely beautiful! congrats to your son and his wife. Another nasty thunderstorm passing by here and the nest, raining at the nest now. This one has a 90% chance of hail, and I am hoping it misses us.
Had a nice lunch in the midst of a terrible day. My eldest daughter lost her job today---out of the blue. She is devastated, and I am hurting so for her. Don't know what in the world is going to happen...he is disabled----w/o insurance his meds are over $1200/mo. (he is in the famous Medicare "donut hole"). Please pray....

Lolly, as I said before when I viewed the realty listing....magnificent mansion!!! Know how proud you are of Michael...glad Jack didn't stay lost! I would worry about Zach---talk about playing hide&seek!!!
Obviously rained here while I was gone, but not very much. Have been hearing thunder from southeast, so guess we have missed this string of storms, but sounds like some damage by the river.
Wonder if lightening hit the solar panel? Have never seen a blue image like that beofre. Thanks for prayers....find that I just keep starting to cry....oh, for the little problems that childhood held with the kids... nothing I can do to help now unless I die.
Lynn, prayers for your daughter, family and YOU. That kind of thing adds stress for everyone concerned.
Yes, hide and seek would be a ball! There are two staircases and you could move around sneakily. Wouldn't that be fun! LOL Unpacking the kitchen items yesterday evening, I kept going into the hall to the downstairs guest room (going to be excercise room) and utility room , when I meant to go to the butlers pantry.
(((Hugs))) for you Lynne. Have been through it with my daughter and son in law when he has lost a job. They bought a new house...he lost his job. Got another one, decided to do an expensive add on to house, did it, and lost a job. I cried and screamed! So, hugs for you!
Prayers for your daughter and her husband, but especially for you, Lynn. So hard to see our children hurting.
Do not forget to take care of yourself, though.
That is really a blue screen, isn't it? The picture went out when there was a loud clash of thunder. I do not know what it means that the microphone is still working--the power must still be on, I suppose. Wonder if lightning hit the camera?
Lynn, I am so very sorry about your daughter losing her job. So hard to express my sympathy, especially for the critical issue of medications for her husband. Thoughts and prayers going your way and hers.
Shirley, looks like I will also be alone. Husband had last minute Park Authority assignment so just me and you and many others who want to see the eagles fly. I'll look for the hot pink pants and you look for a green Corolla and red hair.
Can't plead guilty to the D.C. Department of Environment. Someone probably forwarded.
Judie, I have been thinking that you really should take all of the crime situations you are creating and write a crime novel. I like James Patterson and Dean Koontz. Bet you could do that, too.
Shirley, when I write a book it is likely to be about all the episodes with wannabe adults -- some of whom are probably criminals, too.
Lynn, I am double-checking locks tonight. The stabbing was on your old stomping ground -- Hummer Road. Not much on the cause or killer but the victim apparently had an accupuncture business in the home. She was found bound and stabbed several times in a bathroom. Police still there about an hour ago.
It's okay to be grouchy, Paula. That's why you have all of us.
What's he cooking, Lolly? I like ANYTHING cooked on the grill:) We didn't go for crab legs tonight. Stayed at GeeGee's and called in a pizza and salad. It was just me, Denise and Mom...Capt. Gene is in Elkins. We enjoyed it so much, that we are going to do it again next Friday. Something on the grill. Get tired of going to a restaurant all the time. Can't really chat because of the noise. GeeGee can't hear anything...so she really liked the idea of staying home.
We really had downpours during this evening and I would have been here sooner if it hadn't been for them. I had to sit in my car and I thought it would never slow down - but it did - sort of - I am really wet!
Had to chuckle over the rhubarb conversation this am....when I was growing up, relatives always mixed it w/ strawberries...and I still didn't like it! So, Jim, when do you leave for Minnesota? I am going to call it a day...have a headache from you-know-where. Too much turmoil today. Judie and Shirley, we will be anxiously waiting to hear from you momsters tomorrow evening!!! Enjoy watching the eagles as well as getting to know each other! Travel safe! Peace and prayers.
Wanda, dinner tonight was grilled chicken and fingerling potatoes roasted on the grill. Then I made a roasted garlic vinaigrette sauce to go over the potatoes and the chicken. It was yummy and so easy! Had a tossed salad with bistro pecans to go with it.
Sounds yummy and also, light. I love potatoes and squash sliced and grilled. Gene puts a marinade on them which he concocted. He calls it Cagene. Just a touch spicy and a little tangy...very good.
We had rain here while I was at GeeGee's. We could see stormy skies down this way from her porch. I was pleased to see that it had rained, when I got home, but after looking around a bit, it was dry under my trees, which means it wasn't a good rain. I hope Megan got more than I did.
That's it! You stop by here, pick me up, and off we go to California. I will prepare some dishes ahead of time. Have some favorites Jack and I like to freeze for trips....Rolled flank steak with Chimichurri sauce and another...veal pockets. Oh, yummy, you would love those!
Shirley and Judie - have a great time tomorrow! I heard Duane ( the NBG photographer ) will be there too. Don't know what he looks like, but he'll be carrrying a big lens!
Lolly and Wanda - each of your dinners sounded great!
Have a great weekend all, heading to Moms for the weekend.
Yes, visit Andrea and Jim, then ride up the coast to Sacramento and visit Anne-Marie and then cross over to Nevada, Utah, Colorado and into South Dakota and Visit Deb, then on to Illinois to visit Glo and Vicky and on and on:)
Early October we are taking Jacob on a road trip to New Mexico and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Can hardly wait. Will have to keep a journal on Jacob sayings.
Very sorry to hear of your daughter's job loss, Lynn. Of course she and her husband will be in my prayers. I've been in that situation several times WITHOUT the extra burdens, so I can definitely sympathize with her.
Boy, that's really a beautiful, deep blue screen we have.
How annoying. I can hear Hidey quite close and heard the familiar kathump on the camera but all I have is that blue screen. Well, at least we know he/she is doing okay and still hangin' round.
Don't forget to stop for me on the way to Lolly's. Amazing how insightful children can be - adorable.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---CONGRATS! MITS---You are our #1 EAGLE MOM---today & every day!!---Bet it is beautiful at the beach this time of day!----HEDGIE--you & family will be in my thoughts & prayers----I can feel your pain--I am still going through a bit of the same thing---WHOA!--MISS the 'KISS IT & MAKE IT BETTER DAYS'---stay COOL--prayers will get carry you through this---REMEMBER this MOMSTERS & DADSTERS GROUP can do anything!!--GOD BLESS! Actually we only got an hour with him. He brought me his car and Kelsey and her mom picked him up on their way to Myrtle Beach. My brat is getting 2 beach trips this year and his momma still has none! :)
I have a baby cardinal, baby mourning dove and a baby towhee out here eating this morning. I love baby season. I have seen my cedar waxwings for about a week.
Seems every time I look in on the FINLAND OSPREYS---OSPREY MOM is feeding her 'CHICKS'---Those CHICKS are almost as large as MOM! Beautiful site this am!!!
SHARON---I think I have had more birds this year than any I can remember!----Soon as I come downstairs---I walk outside &--BIRDS are everywhere!---I haven't seen a CEDAR WAXWING yet!!---Lots of CARDINALS---always think of you when I see them!----
NORFORK SITE---A 'REBEL' is branching!----Makes my heart feel good to see him/her there!---Read yesterday they have been coming back to nest---off & on!----
LOLLY!--LOLLY!---Remember---I think your m/t bedroom has been promised to me since last year! --Just tell those other MOMSTERS---they must get in line! ho!---and they haven't tasted your home baked bread & sausage either!---
Your son's house sounds like a dream home to me!!---How can I view it?
Got on my pink capri pants. Judi should have no trouble seeing me.
Woke up really early this morning and pulled out the instruction manual that that I had carefully saved for my camera. It was in Spanish. Had to go find the English version.
Managed to take a few practice pictues and download them to the computer, but I will have to take the instruction book with me today.
GOOD MORNIN' SHIRLEY!---I bet you are excited this am!---Oh you will remember this day for a long time!!---send us a pic of you in your pink capri pants & a pic of JUDIE with her red hair!---ho! HAVE FUN TODAY!!!
Morning momsters and dadsters. Norma, Lolly posted photods of Michaels' mansion in her new blog Michael and Ashley's house, I think it's called. Just click on her name and look for that blog on her list!
Good morning all. Shirley just have a good time. If you get pictures that will be great but enjoy the day. We were so busy last week at NCTC we forgot to take pictures.
Thanks for all prayers, love and support. Needless to say, had a restless night. Have fun, Shirley and Judie!! Sharon, been missin' you, Sissy and Thelma! Are you car-sitting while the kids are at the beach?? Bet you don't like them right now! Road trip sounding like a really good idea...fun, fun, fun...think we'll need another Eagle Express! And we must add Indiana Dave in Terre Haute to the stops!
MORNIN' HEDGIE & CEIL!---It's a beautiful am here in WV--but I think it's going to be a WARM & HUMID day!!---ho!---Hope SISSY ENJOYS it---she has been wanting 'HOT' weather!!!!
HEY HEDGIE!---Thanks for telling me how to view LOLLY'S son's house!!!---I am most anxious to see it!!---Does your daughter live close to you?---Mine doesn't--
With all of the recent talk about Boris' relatives--yuck--heard two new interesting tidbits about them....did you know???....there are over 25,000 different species of them, and that daddy-long-legs are the most poisonous of all but their mouth is too small to bite a human. Thank goodness!
Yes, Norma, Carolyn lives 15 mi. from me. She is coming over later and we'll update her resume'. Then off we go to new Target to get her blood pressure med rx filled---TG it is on their $4 list, plus I have a coupon for a $10 gift card with a new rx. Every little thing helps.
WHOA!!--LOLLY & JACK!---I am truly at a loss for words to describe how much I appreciate your sharing your son's house with us!---One doesn't see homes like that in our area!!--What's the old saying?---Everything is big in TEXAS!

Been looking at Hidey's nest and decided I'm going to call whatever is growing there the Hidey tree.
Off for groceries.
Judie
thanks Judie and Steve...
Hidey tree sounds good...:)
If it keeps growing, it may really be a hidey-tree. We will not be able to see what is going on in the nest.

Kinda different stuff going on at both Finnish nests. Take a look.
My Mom and the neighbor lady used to make rhubarb pie, turnovers every year for a while. I didn't like it much when I was very little, but I grew to love it.
You can also eat it on shortcake or just by itself or with ice cream.
I've tried it mixed with pineapple at the store, but I don't like it as well.
How do you folks do it?

Good day!! LOL Slept til 10:00 and have been on facebook and reading past blogs. So, I still want to say "good morning".

Actually LOVED helping Michael and Ashley. There is so little that we can help them with, that helping with the move was great.

It is absolutely gorgeous! The kitchen is a dream and they do not even cook much. They eat out! Zach was in hog heaven with his new playroom. He was sooo cute!
For those of you who are interested, I have added a new blog.

But I can see Finney's !
Quiet as can be at OUR nest, except for the wind and the sound of that Baby Sycamore growing ☺
Best wishes for all those about to celebrate TGIF !

Hi, Margy. That is one beautiful house, isn't it? I'm wondering who will do the nestorations?

That's unfortunate Lolly....
but WE appreciate your hard work ☺
and love the pictures and stories of your Gardens ☺
Time for me to get ready for work. Working bottoms and tops this week-end - 6 pm to 6 am twice, then 6 pm to midnight Sunday.
Best wishes for a Good Evening and a Great Week-end. Prayers for wellness, comfort, strength, serenity, safety and joy.

It's after 5...I'm outta here.
LOL, maybe a nice fake arrangement, Lolly. the house is gorgeous. Bye!
Lolly, the house is beautiful!
Judie, Kathryn just called. Hunter has a football practice tomorrow morning, so I will be alone. I will be wearing my bright pink capri pants. They have white leaf designs. I think you will be able to spot me.
I will be driving a grey Camry.
I've been home but I am going again! Invited over to son's for dinner.
The Still Cam is functioning
Thanks for fixing it

WHOA! I swear that the Still cam was on 7/24 just one minute ago. I just checked again and it had flipped back to 7/21 and then once again to 7/24.

Hello all:)
Lolly, that house is absolutely beautiful! congrats to your son and his wife.
Another nasty thunderstorm passing by here and the nest, raining at the nest now. This one has a 90% chance of hail, and I am hoping it misses us.
Jo, still cam says 7/24 now--or at least when I looked.
Really stormy at nest. I see a little sprig of grass under the baby tree.
Weatherman shows an evil storm for you guy around the nest area.
Hang on S'town Eagles and Megan---severe storm warning.
Picture went to blue screen, but I still hear the storm.
Had a nice lunch in the midst of a terrible day. My eldest daughter lost her job today---out of the blue. She is devastated, and I am hurting so for her. Good to hear Hidey; that was quite a storm!
Sunny here, seems that lots of the WV folks aren't able to be online right now.

Was quiet for awhile at the nest, but storming again now.
Thanks, Lolly, Shirley and Judie. I feel your hugs and it helps.
Great. I thought only the still cam was blue. I see the live feed is messed up too. Sounds like it's raining at the nest.
Judie, I have been thinking that you really should take all of the crime situations you are creating and write a crime novel. I like James Patterson and Dean Koontz. Bet you could do that, too.
I'm pretty good at pushing a wheelchair if it becomes necessary. I have had experience.
Even with the blue screen, there is still the 15-minute shut-off. Delightful!
Paula, have you seen the cam go to blue screen before?
Sorry to sound so grouchy. Not a good day at work.
Lynn - so sorry to hear about daughters job.
Shirley and Judie - have fun tomorrow!
Pretty blue. . . I thought the new paint in my living room was really blue, but this has it beat.
I still have to study my camera manual. Might hit up my son for some pointers. He's my techie.
Might have to do with the server at NCTC. Cam might have gotten zapped as well. Be prepared for a blue screen all weekend is my guess.
Sorry about the bad day at work, Paula.
Was a bad storm; I was watching when everything went down. Was especially glad to hear Hidey after the worst of it, though.
Thanks, Shirley. Guess I shouldn't whine. I still have a job.
BBL
Sometimes it helps to unload a little frustration, though, Paula. I have done plenty of that.
Meant to go to store long ago. Want to go before dark. Sounds like it is still raining at the nest. Watering the Hidey-tree.
Saw on the news where a woman was stabbed to death in an acupuncture business on Hummer Rd., Judie. LOCK YOUR DOORS!
Lynn sorry to hear about your daughter losing her job. Prayers that the Lord has plans for her.
Oops. Where are my manners. Evening everyone. Just stopped by to say hi and see what is going on.
Hope to be back later.
I hear hidey..
I'm back!

Back to say goodnight, later.
Judie
Gave Jack a new cookbook on grilling for his birthday. He is cooking up a new meal this evening. Yum!
Lynn you have mail.
What's he cooking, Lolly? I like ANYTHING cooked on the grill:)
We didn't go for crab legs tonight. Stayed at GeeGee's and called in a pizza and salad. It was just me, Denise and Mom...Capt. Gene is in Elkins. We really had downpours during this evening and I would have been here sooner if it hadn't been for them. I had to sit in my car and I thought it would never slow down - but it did - sort of - I am really wet!
good night everyone...prayers for all
It's really bad when you're watching the blue screen and it times out after 15 minutes. That part of the system is still working.
I have crossed paths with a few criminals, too, Judie.
Back to say goodnight to all.
REALLY BIG DAY FOR ME TOMORROW!!!
Shirley, don't stumble around cussing in the dark when I turn the light out because I want to meet you tomorrow.
Good night everyone. I'm sure Shirley and I both will let you all know about the eagles release tomorrow.
Turning out my light, now. Pleasant dreams everyone.
Judie
Wanda, dinner tonight was grilled chicken and fingerling potatoes roasted on the grill. Then I made a roasted garlic vinaigrette sauce to go over the potatoes and the chicken. It was yummy and so easy!
Had a tossed salad with bistro pecans to go with it.
I have my flashlight, Judie.
The heavens opened up here. Pouring. My plants are thankful.
Lolly, I want to come to your house for dinner!
Shirley, we all want to go to Lolly's house. Hang in there, we might pull together a Road Trip and go there;)
Might even have to take leave from work for that trip!
I'll even bring the food. Just want her to cook it.
Oh, that would be such fun. You would love Lolly:)
Wahoo! A road trip to my house! I would love that....but I want to be riding on the road trip too. How can we work that? LOL
We'll have to bring you home with us so you can cook some more up here.
I know! I will fly to WV and ride with you! So much fun!
Or maybe we should take you to California to visit Andrea and Jim.
Jack is my cooking buddy. He will have to come too!
Good idea Lolly! (we are Craaaazy)
That's it! You stop by here, pick me up, and off we go to California. I will prepare some dishes ahead of time. Have some favorites Jack and I like to freeze for trips....Rolled flank steak with Chimichurri sauce and another...veal pockets. Oh, yummy, you would love those!
We may need a caravan.
See ya'll Sunday.
Hugs to all ♥
No, no, no....we ride in the Eagle Express. It will be a rolling slumber party!
Yes, visit Andrea and Jim, then ride up the coast to Sacramento and visit Anne-Marie and then cross over to Nevada, Utah, Colorado and into South Dakota and Visit Deb, then on to Illinois to visit Glo and Vicky and on and on:)
Hey, this is getting better!
Paula, hope things go well with the selling of your Mom's house.
Have a good weekend:)
Sounds like a couple of months or more . . . might not have that much leave--and they might wonder where I was all of that time. Oh, well.
I am afraid my supper was a bowl of cereal and a pb and j. It was so late when I got home from the store, I just couldn't see cooking anything.
Must retire for the evening. Good night. God bless.
Shirley, you may have to retire if we are going to take our time and really enjoy this Road Trip!;)
Have a Jacob quote for all of you......."Mommy, under all my hair, I am very, very, bald."
LOL this is called deep thinking.
Good night, Shirley. Safe travels tomorrow and wishing you and Judie a wonderful day.
Lolly..ROFLMBO!
Nite Shirley! Sweet dreams!
Aren't children precious?!!! Dont you wonder what he was thinking to come up with that!
I think I will turn in also...the Capt. is coming home tomorrow and I REALLY need some beauty sleep.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL
I think it was a very intelligent remark!
I will retire for the eventing and think about it. Only problems is that I might need to keep working for awhile so I could afford such a trip.
Early October we are taking Jacob on a road trip to New Mexico and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Can hardly wait. Will have to keep a journal on Jacob sayings.
Nite Wanda! Sweet dreams! Tell Gene about our planned road trip. I know he will be very enthusiastic! LOL
Off to bed -
Good Night All
Prayers for all being offered up
((hugs)) ♥
Nite Jo! Sweet dreams! God bless!
Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Lynn, keeping you and family it my prayers. Just want you to know that you are still on my mind and have been thinking of you.(((Hugs)))

Very sorry to hear of your daughter's job loss, Lynn. Of course she and her husband will be in my prayers. I've been in that situation several times WITHOUT the extra burdens, so I can definitely sympathize with her.
Boy, that's really a beautiful, deep blue screen we have.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Good Saturday a.m. everyone.
Shirley and Judie, have a good time today.
Good morning, everyone.
The BIG day is here! Yea!
Judie

feeding at Finney's nest, Finland mom never seems to be in their nest that much anymore, must be perched on the cam, see her tail hanging sometimes.
With all of the recent talk about Boris' relatives--yuck--heard two new interesting tidbits about them....did you know???....there are over 25,000 different species of them, and that daddy-long-legs are the most poisonous of all but their mouth is too small to bite a human. Thank goodness!
Bai Yun is doing some denning in the birthing den.
yikes, spider 101:)...TMI...lol
Good Sunny Saturday Morning to All!
