Thanks Steve. I will try to get the others.

Thanks Ceil! You got me!

ceil said...

Hey Sharon. Don't know if I will hear Lynn's horn. Got a hum on the cam.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the new thread, Steve.

So sorry to hear about Farrah Fawcett, such a shame. Watched the documentary special on her a couple of weeks ago. Brave lady.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I have a hum too Ceil. Might still be able to hear it if I can keep the cam running.

Lynne2 said...

Thanks Steve! BTW, I was reading some of your stuff and have just gotten the book Last Child in the Woods to read....kids need to get outside these days for sure.

Thanks for the call over Ceil. I've had a hum on the cam today as well.

Paula, did Farrah pass away??? I haven't watched the news at all.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

From previous thread:

Lynne2, you read right. I have four dogs. Mopsy (mixed breed with schnauzer I think), about 14 years old, Buphals (lab/shepherd mix), I think 7 years old, Scooby Doo (german shepherd) who is "who knows how old" and Hairy (chow, cocker and beagle mix) who is about 3. This week, I have been taking care of Sissy's dogs but 3 of the 4 of them are staying at their house. She lives 3 houses out from me. Ellie Mae, one of her 4 dachshunds, has been hanging with me this week.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Lynne2, Farrah did pass away today.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Cancer sucks! Tomorrow will be 7 years since we lost Daddy to it!

Lynne2 said...

Aw, how sad about Farrah. She put up a heck of a fight.

Sharon, they must keep you so busy! I have just one dog now, but this is the first time in 15 years that I've had just one. Now I think "how'd I do it!!!" I've also taken on foster dogs now and then as well. You should put some pics on your blog!

Lynne2 said...

I'm so sorry about your dad, Sharon. My good friend Tracey is getting married in Sept. and last week her dad was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. Oh, I really feel for them, not knowing if he'll make it to her wedding....I'm saying my prayers.

stronghunter said...

I lost my mother to cancer years ago, and have survived cancer myself since 1995. Surviving it changes your life... my doctor told me that.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This one is Buphals. He is the spokesman for the rest of them. He says "I love you Mommy" in dog language. Then he gets a treat.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Surviving it is a wonderful thing. My brother, I think at 47, had prostate cancer. They don't normally even check for prostate cancer until after the age of 50. We were blessed that they found it early. We never knew where Daddy's primary was but it had metastasized to his pelvis.

Lynne2 said...

wow Shirley, sad about your mom but thank God you survived.

Awww Sharon, he looks so sweet!

stronghunter said...

Sweet doggie, Sharon.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This is Hairy and Peedab. Peedab was my mommy's dog and now my niece takes care of her. She is also the sister to Ellie Mae, Sissy's dog.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

On my street, there are 5 houses. The dogs in 4 houses total 17 and surprisingly, there is not a lot of commotion from them.

Lynne2 said...

Aren't they adorable!
Wow, that's a lot of dogs!!

ceil said...

I thought I heard a horn

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

If this comes through, this picture is of Mopsy.

stronghunter said...

It sounds like they are happy doggies, Sharon. There have been times I have heard awful commotion from my backyard neighbor's dogs. Fussing, crying, barking, growling. They haven't always been happy or well-cared for. I haven't heard it recently, thank goodness.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Can't find a picture of Scooby right now. Will have to dig for that one.

Lynne2 said...

geez, the buzzing is so loud...I didn't hear it, but I was able to hear all of the racket going on under the tree this morning.

ceil said...

Is that a horn?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I can't get the cam to stay running.

ceil said...

I still hear it so it is not a horn

Lynne2 said...

oh my gosh, Mopsy is so sweet! I have such a soft spot for senior dogs.

Merry Half Christmas, Jim!

stronghunter said...

I still hear hammering and buzzing. Nothing else, but have to keep renewing.

Mema Jo said...

I didn't hear a horn yet! Hummmmmmmmmmm! Anyone?

Lost Dad & Mother to cancer. Sorry to hear headlines about Farrah Fawcett death to Cancer. There has to be a cure out there somewhere!

It is really a hot day! Good beach day!

ceil said...

We should have told Lynn to call one of us and then we would know when she is there.

Mema Jo said...

I hope one of the adults will be sitting up in the tree for Lynn's mom & sister to see. At least they'll see
the large nest!

ceil said...

Hey Jo.

Lynne2 said...

Merry Half Christmas, Jo!
I haven't heard anything yet, but not sure if I will over the buzz.
Wow, that's awful to loose BOTH parents to cancer. They sure are making incredible strides in prevention and cure, so much seems to be related to environment and lifestyle. My husband and I both smoke, and we decided to quit this week (it's been difficult) and we hope it isn't too late for us. Worst thing I ever did was start smoking.

Mema Jo said...

I called Lynn's cell - had to leave message - no answer.

Lynne2 said...

maybe she is running a bit late?

Mema Jo said...

I agree with the smoking - that is after I quit! It was almost 50 yrs of the habit... Don't have lung cancer BUT have COPD! Trying my best to get 3 of my 5 kids off of them. You have to want to quit - I had a terrific support group!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Lynne2, I quit October 17, 2008. It is really hard but so rewarding. When the hankering hits, if you wait 5 minutes, it will go away. I used the patches for I think 8 weeks.

Ms Bookworm said...

So sorry to hear about Farrah. Cancer just sucks! Lost my Dad to it in 1998. He had Multiple Myeloma, which went into remission, and another type of cancer caused a football-sized tumor on one of his kidneys.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I had a friend who never smoked 1 cigarette in her life that died from lung cancer last year.

Costume Lady said...

Maybe one of our eagles is in the tree and she's afraid of scaring it away if she blows the horn.

Lynne2 said...

Oh Andrea, you lost a parent to cancer too? So sorry.

JO---50 years and then quit, WOW!!! Steve's been smoking non stop for 32 years except for a few years ago when he quit for 10 days. I have quit before, 5 years without. What an ass I was for starting again! It's been easier for me than Steve. Did you quit cold turkey?

Sharon, congrats to you as well!! We are taking Welbutrin to help ease the side effects. So with that we cannot use the patches due to possible increase in blood pressure.

Lynne2 said...

I know some people get lung cancer without ever having smoked, but the odds go way way up if you do, that's for sure.

Merry Half Christas Wanda! You're right, maybe there is an eagle in the tree!

Costume Lady said...

When I was there, I blew the horn from the road...didn't think that would scare them, but when I decided to go up to the barn, I accidently blew the horn when I stuck the camera out of the window...didn't faze Belle or make Hidey come out of hiding:)

Ms Bookworm said...

Golly, that HUMMMMMMM is bad today!

Say, my last posting got lost somehow! Got some crazy error message.

LYNNE2, I'm a Christmas geek too-- a REAL Christmas geek. Our daughter, Jen, was born on 12/25/71.
That was a very special year.

DEB, if you're interested in a nice sheep, I might be able to arrange getting one for you. Trouble is, we'd have to figure out how to get him here from Scotland. Wonder what the quarrantine laws are like.....

Costume Lady said...

Capt. Stitchless and I quit smoking in our 30's. So glad we did. It was at the urging of our daughter, Karla. She never smoked, but her sister, Denise did...she quit 2 years ago, I think...maybe 1 year. It was VERY hard for her for a long time. She's glad now that she quit.

Lynne2 said...

well all, I hate leave such good company but for now I have to attend to some chores!

jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the waaaaaay

ceil said...

There it is.

Costume Lady said...

Hey Lynne2, thanks for the half Christmas greeting...There's the horn!!

Ms Bookworm said...

I HEAR A CAR HORN!!!!

stronghunter said...

It seems to be pretty still at the nest today, so it is hard to see if the leaves are blowing, which is one way I decide if I need to refresh.... Heard 4 honks!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

ceil said...

Yep Wanda. Three little beeps

Lynne2 said...

all right Andrea!

Good for you and the Capt AND your daughter, Wanda! It isn't easy, but it gets a bit easier every day. Lots of habits have to change! Amazing how life can be dictated by your next smoke!

Did I just hear the horn?

Mema Jo said...

Quit after I went to Wellness Center at Hospital and as I said the Group was great. We were so truthful with each other about Sneaking a Smoke!
I also had the Chantix prescription and I am sure that is what clinched it!

Costume Lady said...

I can't believe there are grown women on here, just sitting and waiting to hear a horn blow. WE NEED TO GET A LIFE!!
Oh, this is part of our life, isn't it;)LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I didn't hear anything! :(

stronghunter said...

And we are having all kinds of nice conversation while we are waiting. It is okay.

Costume Lady said...

Seeing as how it is HALF CHRISTMAS TIME...I'm going to do HALF of my Christmas cards;) Horn again!

stronghunter said...

Didn't hear it that time.

Mema Jo said...

Honk! Honk! Honk!
WHoo Hoo!

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, do you have SAND in your ears:)?

ceil said...

Andrea my husband is a Christmas baby. Born quite a few years before your daughter.
Yep Wanda. I love this life but I better get some things done. Have a good day everyone.

Lynne2 said...

hahahaahahaha!! Wanda that was funny!

I'm glad the group and Chantrix were so helpful for you Jo. It was really expensive, even with my insurance (which due to unemployment I am paying out of pocket for) and I was successful with the Welburin last time.

Costume Lady said...

Capt. Sorebutt is now Capt. Stitchless. He went to the doctor this morning and had them removed. Healing very nicely. Thank goodness..he won't have to sit sideways anymore.

Lynne2 said...

OK leaving for sure this time, gonna go put on some carols and mop the floor!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I guess Capt. Stitchless didn't have any drains, huh? :)

Sand in my ears, I wish!

Costume Lady said...

It's been wonderful to chat and giggle with you ladies, but I have a deck that needs flowers planted in it's containers. I wasn't going to plant any this year, so that I could help GeeGee more, but I just couldn't go all summer without flowers on my deck. BBL

Ms Bookworm said...

Sharon & Jo, congratulations for quitting smoking, and Wanda & the Captain, too! Lynne2 and Steve, I'll be praying for you both-- they say nicotine is one of the very worst addictions. It's apparently as bad as heroin to get over! Keep up the good efforts!

Costume Lady said...

No drains, Sharon...just a small incision to remove the infection that decided to make a home on his butt after the doctor removed a TAG by freezing. You can't imagine the laughter and jokes he has had to endure from the family;) Bye now.

Ms Bookworm said...

Ceil, that's so cool that your husband and my Jen share a birthday!
There's something special about a Christmas birthday. You have to have your birthday party either 2 weeks before, or 2 weeks after, because most of your friends are out of town visiting family!
LOL :o]

Ms Bookworm said...

Hey, that's good news about the Captain! Fantastic!

Ceil, did your husband have that birthday party problem when he was a kid? We just gave up after a few years and went with the flow. We have a family get-together on Christmas Eve, and celebrate with Jen at midnight-- much more difficult now that she and her family are clear over in Texas!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, gotta run-- have a lot of housework to finish. Have a Merry Half Christmas, everyone! I'll check back later when the chores are done. :o]

ceil said...

Andrea he is 66 and in those days family lived close by and so did friends. His family always did what I have done for the last 45 years. Celebrate Christmas in the morning and his birthday at dinner.

ceil said...

I don't care if it rains just want to be at the beach to watch the ocean.

floralgirl said...

I'm happy for them...no, really, I'm glad they're having good weather. Kid went to NC beach, she took the sunscreen, and I can't find any...thought I had more, my shoulders are burnt...gotta go back outside.....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am not happy for them. I wish it had been raining on them all week. I don't like them! :)

ceil said...

Megan cover up so that you do not get blisters.

Mema Jo said...

I'll be back later this evening- expecting lots of great-grandkids to come through that door in about 1/2 hr.
I am so excited to have all 7 of them here at once! I am going to have my arms full!

Costume Lady said...

Get lots of photos of them all together...never know when this will happen again. They may be grown up by the time it happens again. I have plenty of room, Jo, on your family album.

Good Eagle Afternoon, Friends.

I like Christmas too, but once it starts coming it comes way too fast! And then we find ourselves in June again.

Spent half the afternoon doing errands, and the other half looking for wildflowers. Found some but often there is not a good place to pull over and take pictures. Did get butter and eggs, and nightshade, and two things I don't recognize at all. I think there are a lot of Construction Transplants...
I'll get around to doing the pictures sometime in the morning.

Hedgie will be dee-lighted that several of you heard her honking the horn ☺

magpie said...

Another thing about Christmas, for those who work in a 24/7 operation...sometimes we have to be at work :( (BIG FROWN)

But as always, I am grateful to have a secure job, and it can be special to be there for those in emergency need.

magpie said...

I have seen more Milkweed than ever before around here, in some cases, practically fields of them!

magpie said...

Thanks for the Catalina links, Jim,
going to have a peek now.

magpie said...

Is it sunrise, or sunset at Finland?

magpie said...

Oh yeah, forgot, could see the results of lots of herbicides along the roadside. :(
It is What it Is.

Mits said...

Margy, it is just after midnight at FINNEY'S NEST....after the summer solstice days will start to get shorter

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Wanda, I am so proud of the names you are coming up with for Gene. ROFLMAO!!!

magpie said...

Thanks Mits - I know there is very little dark time, I just wasn't sure if the dark time is just now starting or just now ending. I sure miss the sunsets and sunrises at Finland Water nest.
Wouldn't it be something to have so much daylight! Sister visited her son in Alaska couple of years back, it got dark at 11 and light again at 3 - great for birdwatching!
xo

magpie said...

So, Jay gets to see the little girls and you don't? Or did I miss something...

magpie said...

Heading for the pillows, need to work a six-hour shift starting at midnight.

Best wishes for a Good Afternoon and Evening....
Prayers for Strength for all Difficult times, and for Wellness, and last but not least, Prayers for Gratitude.

Good evening, momsters and dadsters. Can't stay or take time to read comments---busy here. Just wanted to let you know that Hidey lived up to his name and persuaded Lib and Belle to do the same! No sign of an eagle anywhere! But I told the tree hi and bye! Did you hear me honk (4 x)???
Got a lovely new Eagle shirt, too, in the gift shop....and an interesting little story that I'll tell you about later!

Mits said...

glad you had a nice visit, Lynn.....yes Margy, Grandpa gets to see the girls:), and our friends from Arizona, who have never met the girls, Sammie the 13 yr old, played a game at the boardwalk last night and won 2 little Elmo's, well really won 1, but she told the lady she wanted it for 2 babies, and the woman gave her the other one....girls will like them.

Michael Jackson has been rushed to the hospital.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Michael Jackson rushed to an LA hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. Condition is unknown.

Mits said...

well, why am I not surprised about Michael Jackson....?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Right!

stronghunter said...

Definitely a strange person. It is hard to tell, but this one sounds serious, though.

Mits said...

Mits said...

yep getting the news online now

Mits said...

these things usually come in 3's, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, now Michael Jackson

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That is true Mits. I hadn't thought of that.

paula eagleholic said...

Real shocker about Michael Jackson...50 years old.

paula eagleholic said...

Wonder what kind of fight there will be over the children.

Costume Lady said...

Paula, I was just wondering that myself.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everybody,

Just heard a little while ago about Michael Jackson-- apparently passed away of a massive coronary. The afternoon news is showing UCLA Medical Center, and it's a media circus for sure. Quite a surprise, although he's not looked to me like he's been in really good health for quite a while-- way too thin and uptight. I don't think he's had a really happy life. Very sorry to hear of his passing, though. He was indeed a major talent!

Costume Lady said...

I don't think that it has ever been documented that he was the BIOLOGICAL father of any of the children. I guess we will hear a lot of stories.

Costume Lady said...

Andrea, you are right...he has never REALLY seemed to be a happy person. Father bullied him for years. That could have been the catalist that started all this weird behavior. Was a very talented person, no one can deny that.

paula eagleholic said...

Have always loved Michael Jackson's music...

Ms Bookworm said...

Lynn, I'm so sorry Hidey made himself so scarce today! I guess Lib and Belle did, too, and I find that kind of surprising. Glad you had a nice visit at the tree, though. Can't wait to hear your story of what happened. We did indeed hear you honking!

Ms Bookworm said...

Gosh, I guess a lot of people who've already bought tickets for Michael Jackson's next concert tour are going to be very disappointed.
Wasn't it supposed to start in London in July?

paula eagleholic said...

Yes it was Andrea.

paula eagleholic said...

Well, Hedgie didn't see our eagles and we didn't hear them at all. They were probably down by the river...

jmp said...

Good evening, everyone.

So sorry I missed Hedgie's honking horn. Was staining woodwork.

Sad about the death of Ms. Fawcett and Mr(Ms) Jackson. He/she always presents a problem when I teach sexual disorders as students seem to be very interested to know "what's wrong with him/her." I hope both are at peace.

Missed Hidey, Lib, and Belle today. Did see that one of the Dukes Farm eaglets fledged with Dad as sidekick as they soard through the air.

Wishing everyone a restful night. Prayers for all.

Judie

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, the 5:00 news is about to come on, so I think I'll go watch it for a little while to try to find out what's going on. I've been having major issues with the nest cam today-- when it shuts down, have to refresh 4 or 5 times to get it back. Anyone else having the same trouble? Might be a software issue with my quirky computer. Not hmming as badly now, though. BBIALW. :o]

I saw Hidey sitting on the edge of the nest, but s/he was gone when I refreshed. I can't see that anyone saw any of the eagle family in the nest.

deb said...

I would just like to have it done, but had a really nice talk with my friend. We hadn't talked in quite a while. If it weren't so humid this morning, I could have gotten more done. The backyard gets lots of shade, so the grass doesn't dry out fast enough.

Returning to the Grandson topic of last night: My grandson does take an interest in the sky things and birds and flowers....He saw a bird a few weeks ago, which by description sounded like a robin, but he has decided it was Canadian Woodpecker!

Whoa Deb!

Hi, gang! Peace and relaxation here in my Lair! Had eldest and grandgirls here for last dinner tonight---youngest met us for lunch today. All goodbyes said, lots of hugs and tears. Always have to think that I may never see my momma again.
Yes, too bad about Farrah Fawcett. Outcome will end up the same eventually, but thank our good Lord that I have not had to fight as hard as she did. Shirley, FYI since you are new: Loretta and I are both survivors, too!! 4 yrs.2 mos. for me----lung.

hedgie said...

We got to the gift shop in the Commons Bldg., and it was already closed. Young lady came to the door, and I told her I was a Momster and that my mom and sis were visiting from MO...I noticed her name tag and realized that she is my eldest SIL's step-sister. Re-introduced myself to her--only met her when her father passed away last year--so she let us in and let us buy stuff!
My t-shirt is black with obvious eagles along w/ 13 hidden eagles in the pic!!!

hedgie said...

In addition to the bad news of not seeing our eagles....came out of the restaurant and retrieved my truck from 2 blocks away only to find a huge L-shaped crack in my windshield. Went by to let Bill see it this evening and he said it looks like it was hit by a bee-bee. (bebee???sp???) I am NOT a happy camper. He seems to think that insurance covers windshields w/o deductibles....but I seriously doubt it (I know that they do when it can be repaired, but surely not replacement!) And I have a $1000 deductible....argh! Guess I'll learn more in the morning.

hedgie said...

Just so you all know....I am the biggest Christmas geek you will ever meet!!!!

Thanks for the good thoughts & wishes from all of you to all of us!

Going to have pleasant dreams and a restful sleep I can tell. Prayers for everyone's needs being offered!

Deb, what a wonderful phone call you got! Priceless!

Well, I'm gonna go take a shower and hit the hay. I'm sitting here yawning, so better try to get some sleep. Prayers being said for everyone. Hope you all have a good night's sleep (including our eagles!), and I'll talk to you in the morning. G'night! :o]

hedgie said...

Will call the S'town police in the morning. Never thought about it at all until Bill said it looked like a beebee hit. My first thought was that it was heat related. But when we saw the pock mark, Christie said it was probably a rock thrown up from the road...I said I would have heard that hit!
Wanda, the crack is about 8 inches long up and down and then about the same across in an upside down L shape or two sides of a square. No way to repair.

Unknown said...

hedgie, don't know if you'll see this, But I always heard if you put clear nail polish at the ends it won't travel anymore till you can get it fixed, never tried it tho. I bought a used car one time with a 3/4 in. crack near the bottom of windshield, couldn't find anyone with clear nail polish, should of just went and bought a bottle. I went up skiing and going thru the mts the crack started to move, from the bot to near the top, then both ways to the edge of window, a giant T. Looked like a ball of mercury moving a long. I was afraid the windshield was going to be in my lap all the 300 miles home.

Thanks, Robert. Will do that if it can't be replaced tomorrow. Heard that insurance company sends glass company to the house, even for replacements!
I was careful driving home not to hit any bad potholes cause I was afraid that it might cause it to shatter!!

Goodnight, fowl friends. Talk to you tomorrow!
