Well, Hidey, you're living up to your name-- at least you came by and said "Hi!". I have way too much to do, so gotta get busy. Take care-- hope the fishin's good! Later, maybe... Stronghunter, hope you get to see the little rascal! TTFN :o]
Hidey, you're such a little tease! I heard you again! (Say, it looks like a SPLIT!) This is killin' me-- but I've GOT to go get busy! Thanks, Hidey, for at least talking to us. Will check back if possible, later. :o]
Andrea, I have planted coleus from seed, but they are very slow growing. I find that their color and growth do better in a sunny spot, but, they will grow in partial shade. They are very easy to start new plants from a stem. Just snip one off and stick in a little hormone powder and into the soil or stick it in a jar of water and you will have a new plant, ready to stick in your garden in a week or so.
Sharon, do you live in the city or country? I've been wondering how you attrack so many wonderful birds. I'll bet there isn't more than 1 or two of us who have had a flicker nesting in our yards. You must put some wonderful food out or they just like you:)
Wanda, I do live in the city (if that is what you want to call it) but have woods surrounding me. The flickers don't eat my seed so I guess I just lucked out that they chose here to nest.
Hi, Wanda, Thanks for the Coleus advice. I think I'll try it both ways, and see which works best. I will move the pot to where it will get a little more sun, just in case. Sharon, I bet your woods attracts the flickers! They would attract me, too, if I were back there! Do you put out any suet? I'm considering trying that to see what is attracted to it.
Hey, not a bad idea-- there might be something to that hormone powder thing! Well, I've eaten lunch, watered all the outside plants, reordered a prescription, refilled the bird feeders, and checked the Earthlink e-mail. Now need to shower, and study more. Guess Hidey hasn't shown himself yet, or you guys would have alerted everyone. See, that's the perfect name for him! Well, gotta run-- BBIALW. :o]
Oh-- I had some kind of tiny little bird in my yard-- scarcely bigger than an adult hummer-- maybe 5" long, at best. A whole flock of 10 or 12 of them; they stayed about 10 minutes, and then they were gone. I'm not sure, but I think they were a flock of Pacific Slope variety of Bushtits. They have the cutest little call, and they're very conversational and energetic. Didn't dare move to go get my camera, doggone it!
Mits and Sharon, I wonder...if we jump into a vat of that hormone powder right out of the shower, would it stick to us better? I could use somma dat! I'll let you know if it works ;o]
Pretty quiet at the nest today. Sure glad that bothersome whiney hum went away....guess it just goes through its paces now and then. I am NOT complaining...
Saw a bluejay getting some calcium today...it was eating the remnants of the robins' egg shell. And saw another squirrel eating a toadstool--yuck! Very disappointed that my turtle, Myrtle, has not made an appearance this year...after 4 straight, I miss her!!
Whoa, got knocked clean out of the chair by the Fairy....telling me it was time to get ready for work.
So away I go....hope everyone in the our county is peaceful, honest, and kind-hearted tonight.
Mits ! In case you did not see my answer from early this morning, that bright beautiful object shining on the ocean, would be Venus ! The Planet of Love...so watch out, if you got that hormone powder !!
Hi All! Well, we have made an unexpected stop in Raton. We stopped for lunch and the van would NOT start. Jack called AAA and they sent out a mechanic and a tow truck. The started needs to be replaced. He did get the van started and we were only a few blocks for a RV park. Tomorrow he will come get the van and replace the starter. Hopefully it will be repaired quickly and we will be back on the road.
Jack and Laurel have walked to a grocery store. I am about to turn the computer over to Joseph. He is needing some intertainment. Our DVD player broke as well. Lovely!
Hello Lolly! Hope you get your van repaired quickly so you can be on your way. Everybody here is into hormone powder tonight. Maybe your van needs some.
Lolly, breakdowns while on vacation are the pits! At least you have a place to stay while you are waiting. Hope they can get a starter in a hurry, like YESTERDAY;) Don't fret...gives you a little extra time with grandsons and daughter. We are so anxious to hear about everything and see some pictures. Feels like we have been on vacation too:)
HORMONE POWDER: If you get the medicinal kind, you might be able to rub it on yourself and get satisfactory results, depending on what you are looking for;) ROOTING HORMONE POWDER: Don't rub this on your body or you may grow roots...it is very powerful stuff!!
I would sow the coleus seed in the planter like you wanted to, and move it into the sun until the seeds germinate and get some size to them. Then you can give the plants more shade.
I Googled hormone powder and found all kinds of strange things. . . so be careful. I did find the rooting kind too . . . I had not heard of it before. Do you get it at your local garden store?
Yes, Shirley, I got my rooting hormone many years ago (it lasts a long time) at Wal-Mart or Lowes. You can buy a packet (like a cool-aid packet) for about $2.00, maybe less. It doesn't take very much to do the job. If you plan on rooting a lot of plants, a 2oz bottle costs $5-6.00.
I am a little concerned.....discussion on hormone powder????
Bought a new DVD player for the boys. Adults sitting outside and reading. Yes, Raton is in New Mexico. This is where we get off the interstate and head into Texas. Our plan was to be home tomorrow. Now we will just have to wait and see.
Lolly, Gene says it doesn't take very long to put a starter in. Two bolts and 2 wires and that's it...(or something like that). He said about 30 minutes:)
Good luck, Lolly!! Hope you make it home tomorrow...going away is nice but coming home is so sweet! Sorry for the bad luck, but think we all get used to it when hauling an RV!
One of the worst things I remember was dropping the muffler on the truck on I-95 outside NYC on the way back from NE on July 4th!!! No place open for repair.....drove the rest of the way home literally r-o-a-r-i-n-g!!! When we pulled into the driveway and turned off the engine, the SILENCE was deafening!!!!
We rented a very nice rv to go to Canada one summer.
Had a tire blow out and purchased a new one. Also had to buy a new sewer hose. Although we kept the receipts, the RV rental people said they would not pay for them unless we brought the old ones back. Can you imagine hauling an old tire and a (yuck) used sewer hose around in the rv?
It will probably take longer to locate the starter and get it sent to the shop than to install it!
Had to go looking at refrigerators tonight...Mom's is on it's last leg. Wish I had brought my measurements with me...gotta go looking again...nothing fits!
Lib and Belle are going to have to do a LOT of nestorations before they even think about starting another family. I don't remember the nest being this messy last year. I think Hidey won't let Mom and Dad in the nest long enough to do any cleaning. LOL
i missed the bear. I have been busy today, laundry, hair cut, lawn mowing. I was thinking I would get the whole lawn moved today, but forgot about my hair appt. I don't feel like finishing it now.
Lolly, sorry about the starter. Good thing you were in a town and not on the road.
Just finished our dinner....chili dogs, YUM! Hate to get on the scales when I get home. I really do have a lot of good pictures to share.
Yeah, hoping he does get the starter in the morning. Was impressed with his locating the problem so quickly. Think we have had a good mechanic. If he gets it and gets it fixed in the morning, we can get part of the way home. I am thinking Thursday. We are at a KOA, not the best in the world but really nice people with very clean showers. We have stayed here before.
Paula, didn't realize that your bro was still there! Yep...guess he needs a fridge! Calling it a day. STILL tired from the past month of getting ready, entertaining and coping!
Wham Pop Zap! Here I was sitting and enjoying reading some birthday greetings and the power goes out! NOT the way I like to turn my computer off.
Vehicle problems! WOOF - The ties that bind us together. Hedgie - you got me LOL'ing with your muffler story! and Shirley with the sewer tales! Hope Lolly and Jack get Homeward bound soon.
Thanks for the sweet song and message Sissy And thanks to all for your greetings near and far. I really treasure the friendships on here.
There was an awesome buck at PIX PA - more than a spike, and in lovely velvet.
Hate to spend part of the day sleeping but I have to...
So I will see you wonderful people a little later one.

It's so good to see our impish teenager today-- looks like we'll get our Hidey fix. Beats me how Hidey can talk and eat at the same time!
The FINLAND OSPREY is sitting in her sunny nest this am---Also -- please note--she is training her 'little ospreys' to give us a look--that says!--'can't you tell--we vant to be alone'---ho!--
Got last week's test back last night, and although I didn't ace it, I got a high 'B' on it. It was a real stinker of a test, so I'll take it! Gotta study like a crazy person today for the test in Surgical Instruments tonight. Never a dull moment, for sure! (Next week is the final exam for that class.)
Looks like Hidey's making short work of breakfast. Bet there won't be any 'nestovers' this time!

Missed Hidey's take-off. Watching all the wildlife in my backyard. Squirrel circus. Then bird show. Then squirrel circus. George and I are having fun. George is twitching all over and swishing his tail.
Got to see our little puppy eagle this morning. He must be really hungry today. Do some of you remember telling me that I had Eagle butt for sitting so long at a time. Well I developed bursitis in my rt. hip and had to get a cortisone injection yesterday. It wasn't so bad though. Am going to have to sit at the computer a little less. Have a good one. And also wonder if any shirts are available with Hidey on them . Would love to have one. Love, Gwen
Hedgie--twin fawns. How nice. Years ago, we had deer out back, but then they built houses. I have a small stand of trees between me and my backdoor neighbors, but haven't seen deer for a long time.
Thanks, Norma! That picture is from our vacation last year (has it been almost a year?!) in the U.K.. Took it at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club near Edinburg, Scotland. Their flower beds are all color coordinated-- the place is like heaven on earth!
stunning comeback for the Baltimore Orioles last night against Boston...son and dil and friends had our tickets last night, ladies wanted to leave after the one and a half hour rain delay, but they stuck it out and were rewarding with a very exciting game, glad they were there
Well, gotta get ready to go out...truck inspection apptmt. this afternoon and have to go get my quarterly chest x-ray. Talk to you fine fowl friends later. Hope the storms miss us...it is sunny now, which probably increases the risk that they won't!

Wanda, I do live in the city (if that is what you want to call it) but have woods surrounding me. The flickers don't eat my seed so I guess I just lucked out that they chose here to nest.
And, I have the benefit of sitting at this window working all day so I can see everything coming and going.
Wanda, if I stick myself into some hormone powder, will I be a new person;)?
Hi, Wanda,
Thanks for the Coleus advice. I think I'll try it both ways, and see which works best. I will move the pot to where it will get a little more sun, just in case.
Sharon, I bet your woods attracts the flickers! They would attract me, too, if I were back there! Do you put out any suet? I'm considering trying that to see what is attracted to it.
I will take a vat of that powder!
I do have suets and it attracts titmouse, chickadees, grosbeak, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, cardinals.
Hey, not a bad idea-- there might be something to that hormone powder thing! Well, I've eaten lunch, watered all the outside plants, reordered a prescription, refilled the bird feeders, and checked the Earthlink e-mail. Now need to shower, and study more.

Wanda I want some of the hormone powder too.
Oh yeah, Hormone Powder is going to be the topic of the evening!
Put me on the list before the supply runs out !
Hello Everyone ☺
Wanda, what is hormone powder??? Never heard of it! Of course, I'm not a gardener!
We hardly got any rain at all!
Hi Ceil, how is Mary Margy doing these days?
Went to the post office and loaded up on stamps. The post card stamps, are an awesome Polar Bear !!
I also found an incredible four-DVD set "America by Rail."
AND, it includes one entitled "All Aboard the Potomac Eagle." How neat is this??
Seven big dollars at Big Lots !
Andrea - your hard work is surely paying off.
and Sharon and Sissy can surely be good mentors on these medical topics.
I really enjoy everyone's talk about flora, fauna, and people.
We do need rain! My Megan Flowers are hollering for it, so I am helping them out as well as I can.
Saw some wild pink bachelor's buttons today. More and more wildflowers out every day. Can't wait to see what's up in Massachusetts !
Pretty quiet at the nest today. Sure glad that bothersome whiney hum went away....guess it just goes through its paces now and then. I am NOT complaining...
off to drug store to get hormone powder:):):),,,bbl
I hear my towhee's coming. TO-EAT, TO-EAT! There is the male and I can hear the female getting closer.
Saw a bluejay getting some calcium today...it was eating the remnants of the robins' egg shell. And saw another squirrel eating a toadstool--yuck!
Very disappointed that my turtle, Myrtle, has not made an appearance this year...after 4 straight, I miss her!!

Hi! I was just reviewing all the comments when Hidey landed and sang a little song.
Sitting right under the camera and hollering.
Jumped up out of sight.
Hello Lolly! Hope you get your van repaired quickly so you can be on your way. Everybody here is into hormone powder tonight. Maybe your van needs some.
Lolly, are you in New Mexico? That's what I got when I Googled Raton.
Lolly, breakdowns while on vacation are the pits! At least you have a place to stay while you are waiting. Hope they can get a starter in a hurry, like YESTERDAY;) Don't fret...gives you a little extra time with grandsons and daughter.

A very lucky--and smart--woman just won $1,000,000 on Wheel of Fortune. Ahhh, it would be so nice.
Really strange sounds from my computer . . . Hidey is developing a new vocabulary?
I am a little concerned.....discussion on hormone powder????
Bought a new DVD player for the boys. Adults sitting outside and reading. Yes, Raton is in New Mexico. This is where we get off the interstate and head into Texas. Our plan was to be home tomorrow. Now we will just have to wait and see.

Lolly, maybe you need to come home quickly and help me straighten these ladies out . . . they want to bathe in vats of hormone powder. Really.
Hope you found a nice campground to stay in.
We did enjoy our years of camping and found many nice places to stay around the country.
One of the worst things I remember was dropping the muffler on the truck on I-95 outside NYC on the way back from NE on July 4th!!! It was a nice vacation, though . . .
Hidey is somewhere nearby...making his nightly squeals.
Spidey is also at work.
It will probably take longer to locate the starter and get it sent to the shop than to install it!
Had to go looking at refrigerators tonight...Mom's is on it's last leg. Wish I had brought my measurements with me...gotta go looking again...nothing fits!
Hidey is making music.
Weren't you all talking about hitting the starter with a hammer awhile back?
I think that was Megan. Not sure what it was, but she was going to hit it with a hammer. I guess she either hit it or had it fixed:)
Lib and Belle are going to have to do a LOT of nestorations before they even think about starting another family. I don't remember the nest being this messy last year. I think Hidey won't let Mom and Dad in the nest long enough to do any cleaning. LOL
Paula, are you putting your moms' house on the market? If so, just get a used fridge replacement, or let it go without!
Bear on the snowman cam
We are having a storm here. Lightening and thunder going to shut down.
i missed the bear. I have been busy today, laundry, hair cut, lawn mowing. I was thinking I would get the whole lawn moved today, but forgot about my hair appt. I don't feel like finishing it now.
Lolly, sorry about the starter. Good thing you were in a town and not on the road.
night everyone:)
Good night, Mits.
Night, Helen.
There is a new Mason update, he is back at Rehab!
Bear is back!
Bear is just kind of lying around there.
I am going to shut down, the computer wants to do some updates. See you all tomorrow.
Nite, Deb and Helen.
I am going to put it on the market Hedgie, but it's hard to find one to fit in the spot...also, my brother is still living there...
Not much in the house is new...think it needs a nice fridge...
Paula, didn't realize that your bro was still there! Yep...guess he needs a fridge!
Calling it a day. STILL tired from the past month of getting ready, entertaining and coping!
Prayers for all in need, and thanks to He who answers them. Amen.

Well, goodness!
Sudden loud Hidey visit. Parent briefly here.
Good morning eagle admirers.
Well, I assumed the parent brought food by the way Hidey was acting but maybe not, don't see any!
Good morning Magpie aka birthday girl!!
Somebody said that the parents can't do any nestorations because Hidey won't let them. Maybe this is an example.
Like that avatar, Sissy ☺
I really do need to rest the eyeballs, hope that Hidey stays around for all the Morning Folks to enjoy.

It certainly looks like our impish rascal is having a hearty breakfast. Hidey's definitely digging in!
NPR---rain & thunder storms in the eastern panhandle!!---HEY!---MEGAN----I think that includes you too!!!
Good Morning, Norma!
Oh SHIRLEY!---Those little 'FLUFFY TAILED' SQUIRRELS----'LOVE A CHALLENGE!!! ho!
Good morning Andrea. Glad that the grades are still good.
Yep, 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms here today.

Hidey has reminded me-- I need to go get some breakfast, especially some coffee! Be back in a sec...
:o]
Squirrels left the feeder and titmice showed up. George the cat enjoyed watching the squirrels, but he is really enjoying the titmice.
Norma, I had twin fawns this am, along w/ their momma....beautiful...SO many spots...seems like more than normal! Looked out kitchen window and they were right there....watched as they ambled all the way out the driveway and then held my breath as they so slowly crossed the road----luckily, no cars came along!
Babies alone in Finney nest, but it is hard to see them.
OH HEDGIE!---You got to see 'TWO FAWNS'---That must have blown your mind!!---I know how I felt when I saw just '1'----I live very near--if not in the woods & am praying the DOE w/bring her FAWN next time---LIFE IS GOOD!!!
Well, looks like I got back just in time to see Hidey go 'Poof'! Nice takeoff! Can still hear Hidey in the distance, though.
OH YEAH!--SHIRLEY---The FINLAND CHICKS are well camouflaged in their nest!---Aren't they growing fast?
ANDREA---Love your avatar!!
Wow, Hedgie,
Twin fawns! That is fantastic-- guess that made your morning! Hope you get to see them often. Pardon my manners, by the way-- Good Morning!
I have my sound turned way up, and every so often can still hear Hidey in the distance.

That picture is from our vacation last year (has it been almost a year?!) in the U.K.. Took it at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club near Edinburg, Scotland. Their flower beds are all color coordinated-- the place is like heaven on earth!
Happy Birthday, Margie!! I hope you have a wonderful day!

stunning comeback for the Baltimore Orioles last night against Boston...son and dil and friends had our tickets last night, ladies wanted to leave after the one and a half hour rain delay, but they stuck it out and were rewarding with a very exciting game, glad they were there
Sounds like a fun game to see in person!
Take a quick look at NBG.

Hi, Mits,
Sounds like the game was well worth the wait! That's great!
Well, need to get more coffee, and gotta hit the books and study for a while.
Hope everyone has a great day; will be back every so often today to say howdy. :o}
Oh, my, didn't know it was Nilla's borthday, too. Thanks, Jim!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NILLA!!!
Shirley and Norma, twin fawns are not terribly unsusual. See at least one pair here every year! But it's like double-the-beauty to watch!!!
Well, gotta get ready to go out...truck inspection apptmt. this afternoon and have to go get my quarterly chest x-ray.
Talk to you fine fowl friends later. Hope the storms miss us...it is sunny now, which probably increases the risk that they won't!
New thread! Come on over!
