Message from Larry at the Loon nest from Saturday:
Larry's Loon CamToday, the technical wizards have been here working on all the technical issues necessary to actually bring a live picture to you. We are still hoping that we will be able to do that in the next few days.
Steve must be busy this morning, sometimes it is afternoon before he gets a chance to get us a new thread. So, we just keep talking and talking on the old one!! Hidey is sacked out for sure. She has been eating and flapping her wings all morning, though.
Good morning every eagle watcher. I am watching the eaglet grow from the Sunshine State. Originally from Hag. Md. and was told about the nest and I've been watching for about a month or more. When something looks alarming in the nest I feel like I need an emergency phone# to let someone know that there's trouble. Love the web-site, it brings me home everyday.
I finally turned the sound down, Mits. I am glad you didn't get sunburned, it is easy to do in Arizona. When you get time, you will have to tell us about your trip.
Welcome, Nannydary! They are fun to watch and some others have worried about who to call to rescue the eaglet, too. They decided they would just call the Guard House, I believe.
ROFLMBO! I thought that buzzing was coming from the doctor's dictation. Didn't even think about it being from the nest! Thanks Mits, work is alot smoother now!
Except the launch pad really is not the place for Hidey to be hanging out yet. Welcome Nannydary!! So glad you came on to talk to us. Keep coming back!
Does anybody know if there are any studies comparing survival rates of single hatchlings vs multiple? I keep looking at Hidey and thinking how lucky she is to be the sole beneficiary of her parents' hunting prowress. She's growing so well! But i wonder if she is less competitive/agressive not having siblings with which to compete. Just curious! I also looked at a few other eagle cams and the NCTC one appears to be the best!
I'm not an expert Gabriela, but unless they are tagged, guess there is no way of knowing if they survive as well are better than siblings to share with.....I think just by nature as with other wild animals in is ingrained in their DNA to be fierce birds of prey...jmo.
