Good Eagle Morning Everyone!
No eagles spotted yet here at Park & my osprey buddy that sits in a nearby tree hasn't been around lately, but we have plenty of hummers, goldfinches & squirrels!!
LAST evening news----A Ranger found a little bear cub that had been left behind in the forest fire!---his mother was no where to be found!! His paws were burned & the Ranger said he was all 'teeth' when he picked him up!---ho!---They are treating his burns (which are severe on the bottom of his paws)---Don't want him to get attached to them---so he is sedated when they pick him up---No contact when awake!----prayers for 'LITTLE SMOKEY' (they named him)!!----Such a tiny little bear attacking every one!---ho!--Handsome little cub!
MORNIN' NATURENUT!----I have several birds at my feeders too!---This is my first real year with hummers---They are like magic--aren't they?----I have several animals--(I live on the edge of woods)-----SQUIRRELS!!---I bet when I die one will be in the casket before I am!!---ho!----Don't you love all these feeders that say---'squirrel proof'!!!!

Oh yeah, Norma. That is the truth about the squirrels. I have come to the conclusion there is no such thing as squirrel proof. That is like kid proof, just wishful thinking.
SISSY---I read that if you put red pepper in your bird feed---it won't hurt the birds---but squirrels wouldn't touch the feed!----(1 child was crying--I was hurting the squirrels)---ho!---1st 2 days ok---3rd day the squirrels seem to LOVE the hot pepper!!---ho!

Every day behind-the-scenes at the panda building has been identical to the last. Lun Lun continues to spend most of her time sound asleep in the dens. She tends to get up about two to three times to eat and/or drink in a 24-hour period. We are keeping a close eye on her while she gets the rest she needs. Yang Yang and Mei Lan are also doing great. We put together a large plastic toy car over the weekend for them to enjoy. Yang Yang was standing completely on top of the car, to retrieve some bananas we placed on the top of it yesterday. Mei Lan has been eating bamboo very well in the past week, and she has even put on a couple of pounds, which Is good because she is feeding her growing body. Last night she weighed 52.8 kilos, which converts to about 116 pounds. She is getting to be a big girl! Today is her turn to check out the toy car. So for those of you tuned in to PandaCam … enjoy!

Besides the beautiful frame and the new label, how does the "Pop-up" cam differ from the old 30 sec. cam we had??

Well, Jim, the benefit I see is it is more easily maneuverable on the screen.
We still have the 30 second cam, this one just takes up less space when it is displayed, and it stays up for some people
I was just noting that it's pretty overcast still in So Cal, and it's still only 70°, but it's slated to climb above the 80° mark later today.

I can't move it all over the screen like I can the one on Frodocam for example, and I don't see the old 30 sec cam, Mits.

Re: Pop Up Cam--I've noticed that once it's up, it will minimize to your bottom deskbar when you go to another page. Therefore it's always available wherever you are someplace else on NCTC. Before, I had to click about 3 times on the Back arrow to get back to home page & still cam.Of course you could open an xtra IE window to keep access to more than one page.
You may not believe me----PLUMBERS were back----now need lunch!

No fun train trips here...had to drive gd to Winchester for follow-up w/ dental surgeon.

Was very short clip---2 US lady shooters from Olympics were dressed & allowed to go in outdoor area w/young male who was sitting on bench eating a treat. As each girl sat down, he patted their backs w/his paw!!! They had to leave as the food was almost done!
well how cute was that.....Lynn, that surprises me about the naming of the pandas....the Chinese are very superstitious, that is why there is a big naming ceremony at 100 days, because they think by then cub will survive

Hope Safe and Sound. Train from Martinsburg was 120 minutes late coming in from the West, and about 15 coming in from Washington to Harpers Ferry. When the conductor stepped out, he said "We'll be leaving shortly, after we check out this one motor...." Uh, not exactly encouraging, so we were about 15 mins late leaving Harpers Ferry. It was a fun trip, child is asleep - and I'm not going to be far behind. "Slam Wore Out..."
Won't be back on Wednesday until later in the day probably. Came home to feeble air conditioning...gonna have to wait on a repairmen I guess. Sigh....Grrrr....

Godd morning-eagle in the nest.
It just got there about 20 till 5 'cause I have been keeping a good eye since about 4:15 so I could tell if the eagle was sleeping in the nest.
As the sun is coming up just a little I can tell they are both there. I tried to send you all a picture but it went to my windows mail and I didn't have time to figure out what to do before getting ready for work. I've asked sharon to email the pic to you "fine folk" in eagle land. :)
looks like they're still working on the egg cup-I don't know about you all but I feel a sense of pride about the perfection Belle and Liberty appear to demand of themselves-the cup and the nest are looking good, huh
Think both are still in the nest- hard to tell-someone needs to squish that spider...
