Good Morning Everyone!
Our nest is MT - I'll need to read earlier comments and see if anyone was around early early am today.

Wild Watch - Owls are starting to come out in the sunshine, Norma.
Osprey cam has a beautiful tail feather covering the cam...Of course it has flown off as soon as I mention it!

I do like this automated "new thread" - sure saves Steve some work. I do like his comments though.

Was looking over the Hawk Mountain statistics on migration so far this year.. I thought I was suppose to plan to get up there - somehow the idea didn't develop. Maybe next year.
Lisa has link on her osprey page - I think Norma told me about it sometime ago.

Oh I need some brunch - soon.

paula eagleholic said...

Mmmm, bacon..sounds good, think I'll go cook some!

I don't see the young Finney on the nest now.

Anybody seen her today? It's almost time to migrate now.

Finney was there last night when I checked the nest before closing down.

Mema Jo said...

That sure is an ideal "Squirrel Feeder" there on the Loch Garten site! Intentional no doubt!

movin said...

Yes, I saw her last night too, Mema Jo. And she's fishing for herself now, so she could be getting dinner now.

Could also head south at anytime now too.

Mema Jo said...

I haven't been able to find ZZ yet, Jim. The other day I went into the videos at the SD Zoo - From tiger cubs to all the others... They were really entertaining and informative.

MITS said...

flamingo cam was off yesterday afternoon...don't know why

Mema Jo said...

I had to look back on that site to tell you that I LOVE the Baby guanaco

Reminds me of the alpacas that look like little teddy bears!

Mema Jo said...

What are you up to Mits?
Are you lurking???
I was thinking that hubby may have sneaked at least one of the M&M gals to bring down for the weekend to give you some company. You're going to have to get that Car seat to make it an easy capture! lol

MITS said...

no, just got back on to computer....what a missed opportunity, Jo, nver thought of that....hubby is working on some things and will return home some time today...his partial vacation is over.....

Mema Jo said...

Norma Are you telling me that you DON'T like Hardball or the McLaughlin Report?

Believe me - I get as far away from the TV when hubby listens to those news "all talk at once & interrupt each other" shows.

MITS said...

I'm with you, Jo....

MITS said...

That is why it is soooo nice to escape to the computer and the blog....none of politic talk here, thank God:)

Mema Jo said...

Mits - I had the OC cam up and looks as though the crowd has dwindled somewhat since the weekend. Most schools will start up full force tomorrow! Summer is over for the kids.

MITS said...

and yet, surprising how many people have come in this weekend,,,,I'm guessing PA and NY don't start school til after Labor Day

Mema Jo said...

Ceil is on her way up the coast!

Mema Jo said...

I think it is one big rip off for schools not to wait until after labor day to start. There are some things I don't agree should change!
Frederick wasn't going to allow the schools to close for Fair Day last year but with so much negative response to that idea - the kids were off on Friday Fair Day!

Mema Jo said...

I think it is referred to as

Norma - there are some newscasters that I truly respect their unbiased reporting of the political news! They are very knowledgeable and give you a good perspective on what is happening. Others just talk to hear themselves talk! lol

Good Sunday PM Everyone! Stayed up real late last night (been trying to ID the small animals we got pictures of) & slept in--having lazy day & getting the body parts rested from all the walking the last three days! I'm so lonely...the child is on a plane home.
My 'puter keeps popping up red messages about Malware, Trojans, etc. Altho virus scan goes every Fri. night, must be some new invaders! Never had this happen so far.Been clicking on Neutralize, etc. buttons, rebooting. IE is trying to sell me an Antivirus 2009I think.DUH, solicited by everyone!
Saw a Meadow Fritillary in back yard & as I was investigating saw pile of downy feathers near feeder. Guess Mr. Hawk struck when no one was looking!

Costume Lady said...

Loretta, the same thing just happened to me. I was trying to bring up a Car Dealership and the Anti Virus spiel came on and I could not get it to go away. Had to re-boot twice. Each time I went to the Car Dealership...same thing happened. THAT'S NOT FAIR!!

magpie said...

HI Nature Nut: Maybe your meadow fritillary is the one I saw last week up here!

Did you have a chance to see, that Megan saw a Giant Swallowtail in her yard! This morning, or yesterday.. Yay, maybe IT is the one I saw in my yard a few days ago!
Never know...

Hope your computer things iron out okay....I thought I had killed mine the other night, but it was just playing possum!

Happy Afternoon....
to Everyone.
Panda Nap time soon....
Back go work tonight, five midnights coming up...Sigh....after nine days off...Woof!

Update on Mason's day has been published.

MITS said...

thanks, Jo:)

SUNDAY, AUGUST 24, 2008 05:45 PM, CDT

Hey, it's Ashley here for another weekly update! I went up to visit Mason and the Ellsworths today, and it was a busy day! Lots of relatives/family friends and a couple friends of Mason's aside from myself were there to visit him, and he was much more decorated and less hospital-smelling than in previous visits.

I really mean it when I say he looks better every time I see him; this time I was instantly met by his eyes when I walked in, and Lisa (who played guitar for him) said his toes moved when she was massaging them. He is officially dual-sideburns again, as well! His mouth is moving like it's nobody's business, and Sylvia and Brian assured me that he's had a good day, and they're still happy about the most recent CAT scan. He's looking a bit pasty, but in the 'haven't-been-outside-for-a-month' kind of way, and he's not much for tanning anyhow (ironically, 'Here Comes the Sun' was on the radio as I wrote this).

Wake up, Mason! We really miss you and want you to see how good you look now!

-Ashley

Mason has such wonderful friends...he MUST WAKE UP and enjoy those friendships, once again. He will find that he has a lot of new friends now.

Anyone know what time the closing ceremony is for the olympics today?

MITS said...

think it starts at 8..think there is a voleyball game on first...ye Wanda he does, maybe we can invite him to the nest next summer

MITS said...

beach is very quiet tonight....not many people walking or flying kites

Costume Lady said...

Helen, wonderful suggestion!

MITS said...

we could make him an Honorary Momster:)

Costume Lady said...

Helen, my Denise got home yesterday from the beach and was so very happy she was able to spend time there. She really, really wants a beach house. GOOD LUCK TO HER! I would visit her often. LOL

Costume Lady said...

We could invite him into the Eagle Express and cook him all the BACON he wants.

Costume Lady said...

Hey, that's a thought...maybe Betty could fry up a big batch of bacon and take it to his hospital room and the aroma may make him wake up. WOW! wouldn't that be something.

Costume Lady said...

My butterfly hatched this morning...I have more detailed photos than the one that hatched for GeeGee. Have a look on "Wild and Wonderful". I have experienced this before, but it just amazes me each time it happens. Never get tired of it.

Mema Jo said...

Headed in to watch the closing of the Olympics. USA won Gold in men's volleyball.......

MITS said...

tell her it is a buyer's market right now...Wanda....mmmmm bacon:)

hedgie said...

Good evening. Thanks for letting us see the transformations of your caterpillars, Wanda! It's been so long since I've done that...forgot how beautiful it is!!
Long day..I HATE shopping!!!..but did well. Fashion Bug is a great place to shop for the girls...they have such good sales, styles they like, and the clothes fit their plus sizes!! But had to go to WalMart, too, for underwear...it was a madhouse, as usual!
Had to take a panda nap when I got home! Just want to hit the tub now and get to bed to get ready for tomorrow's trek to DC.
So, dear friends, blessings to all when you go to dream land. Hope you have a good shift, Margy!

I am just getting on here tonight. My sister came down and spent quite a bit of time at the hack site. She seemed to have a good time, found the little muskrat that lives nearby and got to see Baldy, Jr. That is what I am calling the 3 year old bald eagle.

I did get Jane to let her come over when we gave Gabby her nightly med's. She doesn't like new people to come too close to the birds. I told her Pam would follow all the rules exactly and would take some pictures for us. I posted two pictures on my page for you to see. My hair is not normally so light, too much sun this summer!

I think I missed everyone tonight, and I need sleep. I won't be on tomorrow until late, have to be at an Optimist meeting at 7 AM to present our power point show. Jane does all the talking, thank goodness. I just run the show. Right after that I am back home for carpet cleaner at 9, then back to Yankton to do the PP show one more time in the afternoon.

goodnight, sorry I missed everyone!
