Well, you beautiful people, it is time to hit the hay!! Hope all have a great evening. I am going to get some beauty rest. See you in the morning light.
Wanda - the egret is pure white but at sunset the colors are never what they seem (plus I don't always get them right in post processing - sometimes on purpose, sometimes not).
OH, I do beg your pardon, BOB...I said I liked the first two sunset/moon photos....sounded like that was all I liked. They are ALL wonderful...those are just my favorites. SORRY
Bob, wonderful pictures. My favorite is the eagle on the stick.
One of the little osprey hurt one of his talons today, so he is off to the Raptor Center in St. Paul. He will be fine, just needs a better facility than the lake! They are hoping to do the minor surgery and send him right back. His name is now Totto, not sure how to spell it, but pronounced toetoe. We also had the first semi-successful fishing by one of the chicks. Too bad he wasn't quite sure what to do with the fish he caught and lost it in the grass. I had put my camera away because of rain, #@$#! it all. By the time I ran to my pick-up and got the camera, I missed the fish.
BOB: Absolutely beautiful photos, love the egrets, the eagles, the heron, EVERYTHING!
GLO: Just viewed Ruffles: How cool, is that your sweet little voice doing the narration? Brings you right into our homes! I loved it when BIG DUSTIN and little karen moved the crate: Go Girl!
Thanks so much everyone, for ALL THE GREAT STUFF TODAY !!
Megan - the tent I was going to use is still in Hedgesville! You know, gal that if I could I would be there! The moon is so bright and there isn't a cloud in the sky. And it is cold out there on my deck!!!! If I see anything early early am (like 1:00) I'll put it on the blog.
Yes! so far so good with Mason.. lots of positive energy flowing towards him, I swear all of Sheptown is tracking his recovery. JO- I know you would've, I have no tent either, We coulda made smores..
Michael Phelps...Aww he just gave the bouquet to his sister. That is so cool What a neat family. Quite bonded been through a lot together. Now its their time to celebrate!!!
Bob, great pics, as usual!!! Thanks. Early morning...gd to oral surgeon for extractions. Only 10 and she is NOT a happy camper. Night all. Sweet dreams. Prayers for all.
Yes, they are really beautiful, aren't they. I am going to be so sad when they leave. You get so attached to them, and now we are naming some of them--not good for the middle of September. :(
I should think it is difficult to take the 'flight' pictures. You are doing an exceptionally good job at it! Deb - do all the ones released have transmitters on them to track them?
DEB - beautiful, soaring birds....I had the same question, looks like a little antenna at the tail end..... Great Shots! We have really had some treats from the posts today!
Nice pose of the Osprey chick on the Finney's nest right now....
The first 5 birds have long distance trackers on them. They are too expensive to put on every bird. It is also a test on where to mount them. Past PTT's have interfered with fishing, so they are hoping this mounting works. All the birds have tail antennas so they can be found easily if they get in trouble. They will fall off when they lose their tail feathers the first time.
Now Deb, are you going to get a receiver set up at your place just in case you need to go help a bird in trouble!?? That would be cool to know how to do!
Okay - I've seen about a dozen...meteors that is, best place to look is near the Perseus constellation, which is more or less East, North East...they should "emanate" from there, Pleaides will be visible soon near there too.. Going to nap until 3:30 - they should be fired up by then, and moon is almost down, that will help. (I made a bunch of wishes!) xox
I don't think I had even heard about pokeberry before this and an article in Wikipedia. You've made a beautiful, jeweled frond from that small part of nature.
Did you know that among its uses were dyes and inks? The Declaration of Independence and many Revolutionary War letters were written with pokeberry (ink berry) ink??
They at least used to make a pokeberry salad down South. But the bush is poisonous to mammals, until you've boiled it and discarded the water at least three times. And the Indians and others used it for some medicinal purposes.
Anybody ever eaten pokeberry and lived to tell us about it??
I was outside a while ago watering the flowering plants, and I remembered to look-see if the sky was clear enough to view meteors ... seems to be, although there is one of those humidity halos around the moon.
But I watched for close to 5 minutes without seeing a meteor.
I did see the Space Station, "I believe" ... southern sky, brighter and at a higher angle from the horizon than the moon. I'm going to do a search on the station, because it does not appear to move much.
NO pokeberry eating here... it is a weed that can get 5 to 6" tall. Been out to see the stars.. the moon is down now and I have seen about 20 meteors- some pretty bright ones that shoot across the sky for a while.. pretty... my neck hurts from staring up at the sky.
Hey Megan - I am getting ready to go back out.. I took a sheet and pillow and laid down the first time...that helped some... I don't have the greatest viewing spot but do have a good view of the Perseus constellation...going out to make some more wishes.
JIM - there are some cell phone satellites still orbiting I think, some kind of iridium something or other, I saw one go from South to North...saw a few more meteors, but could only see about 1/4 of the sky from where I am... back to bed for the rest of my Panda Nap.... Finney's has a chick and Over the Water has a Hooded Crow.
It was a Good Meteor Shower, well worth the time spent.... plus anytime Pleaides and a few other favorites are out together - it's a good night to be outside...Three trains went through and I had one visiting Bunny Rabbit, who was as surprised as I was when we discovered each other... z z z z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z -TIME
Good morning everyone. Looks like magpie and Jim saw the meteor showers. I was long gone by that time. I bet they were beautiful though. I see our Mei is sound asleep this morning and we have an MT nest.
Hi Sissy - Megan saw a bunch too.... Maybe the Eagles were up late watching them too... we might still them...sometime today anyway! Headed back to dayshift today, time to start putting it together.

It is hard to get clear flight pictures, I deleted a lot of them. It was nice of this bird to fly by me a lot of times!
Deb, you are having a really good time, aren't you? I can feel your excitement in your comments.
So very interesting, DEB.
One chick at Finney's again...
Out the door, to check the sky...
Back Later...

I can't watch anymore gymnastics...my eyes won't stay open. Don't think I'll make the viewing of the meteor shower.

Well, what I saw was not the Space Station ... far too high, far too slow.
They have some wild places to view the meteor shower out here, but they are all in the desert or in the mountains and nowhere near where I am.

There are three large black crow-like birds at Finney's nest...what a surprise!
Well, the Osprey chick seems to have ousted the black birds.
And he/she seems to be squawking !
And Mei is still snoozing....
Good morning everyone. Looks like magpie and Jim saw the meteor showers. I was long gone by that time. I bet they were beautiful though. I see our Mei is sound asleep this morning and we have an MT nest.
