We have identified the source of the signal problems we've all seen this week. Our microwave signal is being blocked partially by some tree limbs that have leafed out really well, and that may have been impacted by the storms over the past week.
We've requested that the limbs be trimmed. Hopefully it will happen today.

With the wild weather we have had here, it's no wonder tree branches are the problem. Glad to hear it is a problem that can be fixed. Still have plenty of trees and branches laying everywhere around the area. My birds are aggravated, the seed feeder, suet feeder and the thistle sack are still buried under the walnut trunk in my yard. Can't even see them. What a mess- back out to plant:) pretty day out there:)
If I had known that last Saturday, I could have brought my saw with me....I would've been more than happy to help.

Checking out some cams & saw all 7 burrowing owls out in the sunshine. They disappear back in their burrow as quickly as they come out of it.

I saw her at the launch pad with her wings spread out getting ready to take off, then the cam screwed up and when it cleared back up, she was gone!
She took off while the cam was messing up! The little stinker!!
The last I saw, he was on the flight deck with wings out looking oh so ready and then the cam monkied up.

We have sad news to share with you. Today Wolong's staff held a funeral for nine-year-old giant panda Mao Mao, a mother of five, who died after the wall of her enclosure collapsed in the May 12 earthquake. She was discovered yesterday, buried under rubble. Mao Mao was a valuable member of the panda community and will be missed. Read the Associated Press article and see photos.

Good for Tiny. I was about to go back to the nest and push it out. Helen e-mailed me. I have been very busy trying to get ready to leave for Oregon on Sunday. We are driving. Juvie took off. Couldn't see the top of the head good enough but thought I saw the white spot. No hesitation on the take off so that probably was not Baby Littley!

Was watching overseas cams last night & thought Finney nest Mom was very attentive to under her belly. Dad came in too--saved some pics. Sea eagle chicks are not fuzzy greys anymore--flapping.. Got some of their still pics--maybe post this PM.

Steve just emailed to say they are checking on a clip for us of Tiny Baby Littley's take off!
We had some that was 20 miles away yesterday, but that is it, Norma. I drive right by Little Sioux, IA, on the way to Omaha. The Boy Scout Camp was totally destroyed. What a terrible tragedy for all those boys.

I cried from joy and sadness when I read that Tiny had fledged. Now three beautiful, healthy, well-equipped eagles have the world to explore. I wish them all the best that this earth can offer them, even though I will miss them dearly. :-( :-) :-( :-)

Yes, Wanda - Liberty and Belle are THE BEST!! Many human parents should hide their faces in shame when compared to those two awesome parents. It is overwhelming to think of the tenderness, patience and devotion that they showed toward their off-spring, not forgetting the beautiful home they so lovingly created for them and all the food they caught and fed to them. It is good to know that there are numerous eagles and eaglets out there flying around with Lib and Belle's genes in them. I am so in awe of them!!!!!!

Hi, Norma. Yes, I know that she will be back again for a while, along with the others, but she has reached a milestone in her life, that will change her life forever.
I watched Paula's video and I thank her for that. Maybe Steve will be able to get us a better video. Yes, the kestrels are beautiful. I saw the fledgling twice yesterday, but not this morning. I got a letter in the mail yesterday which had a 1 cent stamp on it. A kestrel is on that stamp.
Liberty & Belle are the GREATEST, and I bet Liberty has the record of tonnage of fish brought in to the nest this year....
There are probably still some big carp buried under the grass in the nest.

You are right, Norma, about it changing our lives. It is all about change - all the changes in Lib & Belle's lives - getting the nest ready, the mating, the laying and incubation of the eggs. And then, the changes for our parents and their dear babies - the hatchings, the feedings, the competition for food, the sheltering from snow and rain, the the hopping around the nest, the poop shoots, the stretching of little wings, the flapping of bigger wings, the mantling of the food, the jumps in the nest and, finally, the first flights and the returns to home. How could it not change us?! It is all so beautiful and we are so priviledged to have been able to observe it all. And as we watched, it was happening in thousands of nests all over this beautiful planet. And it will continue to happen day after day and year after year.

Read where we have a hatching at Finney's nest. I watched it very late last night, she kept messing with her head down. I felt like something was happening, but never saw something. Yea! This is a great cam to watch, though wish it was live feed.
Not on much today. Busy with the boys! They are never ending eaters! We have gone through a gallon of milk in less than 24 hours! And they are only 7 and 3.Poor Laurel having to raise these boys. Also, we have pulled a tooth. Tooth fairy will have to come tonight!!! WaHoo!!!
