I have been putting off talking about this for hope of it going away but it isn't. Buddy the Basset Hound has had bloody diarrhea for a few weeks. Took him to the vet and they are treating him for a bacterial infection, even though they couldn't get much of a stool sample so they were just hoping that is what it is. They said after a week to 10 days, if he is no better, then they will do blood work and x-rays to check for cancer. He is no better. :( Requesting prayer for Buddy but more than Buddy, T-Bird. He doesn't act sick in any way, still steals food when he can.

I LOVE US!

So sorry to hear about Buddy's problem. Prayers for him and for THELMA---we all know how dear he is to her !

Hi HODA ! What's up for you today ?

This is the day I take my stuff to the tax preparers AARP so kindly provides. The price is right and my returns are not at all complicated anymore.

The weather is perfect, so Penny will be getting expanded walks and sniffing opportunities.

Have a good day all ! BBL

Around the noon hour a rep from Dell is coming here to check out my "power"
on this new hard drive. SO, I may be MIA for the rest of the day as I don't know what part he is bringing.
I am just praying he doesn't take away my hard drive...... I don't want to pull a "Janet" lol
I sure hope she gets her's back without charge! 20 lashes with the wet noodle is our Momster Policy.

Kay, feels good to get taxes underway. You and Penny have a good time outside.

Hoping Hoda has an exhilarating ski day. Safe would be better.

Good afternoon.

I see that most of the snow has disappeared from the nest. Eagle is on the eggs.

Prayers and good thoughts for Thelma and Buddy. Thanks for the new thread, Steve, and for the call-over Sharon. Congratulations on the feather.

Bowling today--

I was getting ready to go when I looked outdoors and was reminded that I had not removed all of that snow from my car. Ugh! It was more than I expected, so I hollered for help from Will.

The team scheduled to bowl against us could not make it, so they will bowl another day. Therefore, we do not know what our ranking will be. Never had that to happen before.

stronghunter said...

Came home to find cat barf on my bed. I will be doing big laundry today.

Bird inventory for today: Nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpecker, chickadees, mourning doves, house sparrows, white-throated sparrows, song sparrows, cardinals out the ying-yang, dark-eyed juncos, titmice, house finches but no partridge in a pear tree.

Shirley, sorry about the unexpected laundry. Glad you got your bowling in.

Jo, congratulations. Sure hope "Peggy" did a good and lasting fix on the computer.

Looks like Shep on duty. Happy to see relatively snow-free nest.

Going with Darth tonight to celebrate 35 years of continuous neighborhood watch. Longest active in the U.S.

Sandi said...

Hi all. I would ask that you add my mom to your prayer requests for today, along with Shar's brother Ronnie and Thelma's basset Buddy. I just got a phone call from Lisa that she is back at Gilchrist hospice as an inpatient.

One of the nurses called Mom this afternoon. Mom said she was having a lot of pain, even though she had taken her meds this morning. The nurse came right away and called Lisa to say she wanted her admitted until they can get her pain under control.

What a roller coaster - I came home Sunday feeling like Mom was stable and doing great and felt optimistic that she will be able to stick around to see this great grandchild born. Today she's back in hospice - life can turn on a dime can't it?

Later.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Oh yeah, I had 2 flying squirrels today. :)

Judie said...

Janet, glad today has been better. Don't forget to fill us in on the proposal.

Sandi, very sorry about this set back for your mom. Do hope she can be stabilized quickly.

Oh Shar, thou dost exaggerate! TWO flying squirrels? Foo on you.lol

WVJerry said...

Good evening everyone. Thanks for the new thread Steve. Sandi - Hope your Mom can feel better soon. I'm just now getting on from a short visit I had with Wanda at her Soup Kitchen. They were all pretty busy serving their meals but we visited a short time. Got to see two wonderful pictures...one was presented to her by the people she works with in the Soup Kitchen...the other one Pastor Eddie showed was a photo of an eagle he had taken along with the Potomac Eagle train. They were really nice. She said to tell everyone here she is doing fine. I was glad to get to see her in person even though it was a little late. She is truly a nice and giving person and I could tell the love and respect everyone had for her at the Church. Hope everyone has a good evening. Take care all.

Question I posted on FB also

a gal at work that walks to work over 7 miles got a ticked for JAY Walking this am
The walk light had the big red hand not to walk but there was no traffic at that time so she commenced to go in the cross walk and go across Well as soon as she got to the other side she got a JAY WALKING ticket I told her I would go to court and fight it I thought Jay walk was not in a designated area like a crosswalk and being it was early in am no traffic ANY thought????

Good news today JANET.

SHAR you are a show off with your bird count! LOVE IT AND YOU.

KAY, JUDIE. Terrific Ski day.
Did over eight Kilometers and did really well on hills!
It was fast and fun and made it to the chalet and back out again.
I feel great. It was a full day.
Now I am having apple cider and waiting to go to yoga in 15 minutes.

I feel very blessed and very happy. It was glorious in the woods. The sun was out. The skies were blue. They let us ski for free as both of us were from a sister x country ski club. I have to mention that to our club.
Crossed ski trails with a couple from Lake Placid New York and another couple from Milwakee Wisconsin. They were friendly.

See you all when I get back in the lake house. I think I will sleep well tonight.

Good evening.

Hoda, so glad you had a wonderful day. Sandperson says you should sleep through the night.

Jaywalking is walking against a no walk sign or crossing in an area without a traffic light (mid-block), etc. Your friend broke the law traffic or no traffic. A car would have had the right of way - zoomed through and injured/killed your friend.

Judie said...

Off to the pillows early. Long day of appts tomorrow. Will report the vascular stuff.

Good morning!

Sandi, so sorry to hear about your Mom. Yes, it is a roller coaster. Just hope they get her pain under control. Prayers for a quick bounce back and normalcy for a long time.

Shar, prayers for Thelma and Buddy. Absolutely.

Wanda, so happy to see that you're back here again. Happy Jerry got to give you a hug. I think of you everyday. ♥

I've been staying up later doing homework, so I'm waking up at 4 instead of the usual 3AM. I don't do well, in any way, without sleep.

I get my grade on my second case study today. That was a 62 page paper I edited down to 54. Just hoping I did well. What a heap of work that was.

So happy I had the time to rejoin here this morning. I love you all!

Have a fantastic day everyone!

Email from Sandi around 3:32am and she asked me to post on the blog to all her friends

Around 5pm yesterday, Lisa called to say we had better get to Baltimore, that she didn’t know how long Mom would last but the hospice nurse said she was dying. Hospice nurses know. We were out the door within 10 minutes but Lisa called before we even got to Georgetown on Rt. 113 to say Mom was gone.
I am a strong person and I will get through this. I have family and friends who love me and I have no regrets when it comes to Mom except that I didn’t get to Gilchrist to say one last goodbye. This past weekend was an especially good one, since Brian was home and since Mom was feeling good, and when we left on Sunday afternoon, I gave Mom a big hug and a kiss and told her how much I loved her, like I have every Sunday for the past 2 months.

I really expected to see her again this coming weekend and wasn’t ready for her to die yet, but I didn’t want her living in pain. My sadness right now is almost physical, it hurts so much, but I know I will be OK.

Paula, glad you got a few minutes to walk outside and relax. The commemoration meeting went well. Police were there and recipients. Oh, cake, too.

Would like to contribute some good news. Vascular doctor/surgeon says everything looks as good as it can (arteries will never be perfect again) and my walking without significant pain is very good. He said the procedure went very well. Go back in six months. Procedure was worth it.

Belle was tucking lots of fresh flugg around herself. Will likely need it. Another storm may pass our way next week.

Okay, off to put my feet up. Late dinner. Darth has a meeting.

WOW! Another great day! Morning mist stopped and we had a great walk on the beach. Then we went on a fantastic drive with awesome views. For a while had phone service and posted a pic or two on fb. We had lunch in Yachats, a quaint little town. Had freshly made clam chowder .....it was soooo good. Drove up, got out of the car and met the owner who was leaving. He is a fisherman and sells his fresh catch and someone cooks it up fantastically! We are back at the trailer warm and cozy as it started to rain just after returning.

Good Evening My Dear Eagle Buds.

My thoughts, prayers and love are with SANDI and her family. Seems her Mom felt at peace once she'd seen Brian and had gifted them all with a good weekend together. Mother love, what a wondrous thing it is.

JO, thanks for relaying SANDI's thoughts and the service information. Thanks, too, for once again seeing to the Momster tribute. I'm thinking you'll be receiving more than enough to cover the floral arrangement and should just keep any excess in a little fund for such occasions or for something needed at our next get together.

Thanks to JUDYE, too, for the Guestbook site.

BEV, here's hoping your birthday was a true RED LETTER day---full of good wishes, maybe some cake and a lot of family hugs !

LOLLY, going to sleep to the sound of waves is sooooo wonderful ! Hope you and JACK have had a beautiful, scenic day.

I'm so tired I can hardly see straight. It was a great day with Seth. The Live Butterfly Show at the conservatory was the best of the 7 or 8 I've seen. There were more varieties and greater numbers--guess we were there on a prime day. Came on home for a couple of hours of talk, puzzle solving, watching old Johnny Carson Karnak bits, snacking...I took him home at 5 and then did a Kroger run. By the time I put things away, walked Penny, ate dinner....Well, the ol' gray mare she ain't what she used to be. That's a huge day for me.

Reading back...

Thanks to all who've posted Eagle news from our nest and others around the country !

Mega-prayers for NC Suzan !

JUDIE, tickled pink to hear the good news regarding those gams and the success of the procedure !

LORI, so good to see you were here early this morning. Can't wait to hear about your grade on that huge paper ! I have a whole new respect for nurses now that I see how intensive the training is.

See you tomorrow---1st Day of Spring---hope our high winds and rain have subsided by dawn so it will really seem like a new beginning. Wishing the same for all of you.

Thanks again Judy for the list from Chris Olsen... As Paula said we used to have a great "cheat sheet" on all the nest information from Judy B up in Maine. I hope Chris keeps this updated.

I just took a break and watched Jeopardy and then an hr mystery. I have Sandi and all her family in my thoughts.

I need to fill out a 3 page form for the Ophthalmologist cornea specialist who I see Friday about the cataract. They say it is only a 10 min procedure to remove it - but it seems there is always something going wrong - I am grateful for all my blessings so I shouldn't complain whatsoever.

I counted on the nest report
58 eggs from
27 nest
17 not reported for the year yet

I will check every couple of days JO just to see if she updates I put in my favorites also and have the printed sheet on my desk as a reminder so sad about the missing eggs this year 14 mishaps Love how she has it broke down

Kay - good thought about excess monies..... Let's see how that goes and I sure invite all of your input.

Thanks Hoda for the report of having trouble with their server as far as leaving condolences for Sandi's mom.
I think I will wait until tomorrow to try.

I agree with KAY re funds.

PRAYERS CONTINUE.

Judie said...

Kay, the ole gray mare might be dragging her hooves but it was worth it to spend so much quality time with Seth.

Can empathize Jo. Today I had to fill out information I provided three weeks ago. I did get a tiny bit grumpy and complained. Cataract removal seems to be a non-big deal these days. Darth had no problem at all.

Don't know about the spreadsheet but can tell you my "spreadsheet" is tired tonight. Taking it to the pillows early.

Nest is quiet.

I also say GREAT IDEA on the $$

My car is back up and running after a rather expensive repair. Thank God and His good timing...Tax refund hit the bank right in time!

I got a recall letter on it last week. This repair wasn't the problem but I am very worried about driving. GM is in big doo-doo over this recall....they didn't get the word out when they knew. Seems that the ignition could slip into the off position without warning. The part is not available until April. HUH?? In the mean time, I have been advised to not drive over bumps, and to remove the key from the key ring because any excess weight might not be good. OMG. So I am only doing essential driving to and from work, and praying....

Information overload . . . I am trying to read the blog while listening to CNN . . . interesting objects have been found in the Indian Ocean that may be related to the missing plane. Sounds like a significant find.

Oh my gosh, Lynne2--I cannot bring myself to call you LynneDUH!--Do not drive over bumps? Really.

Lynne2 said...

yes, that is exactly what they told me. EVERY road has bumps!

It's a mess...it affects 1.5 million cars and has been blamed for 12 deaths.

Lynne2 said...

I'll not be getting excited (for lack of a better word) about objects in the ocean. Same thing happened last week and it was nothing. SO much mystery with this whole thing.

Getting on to say good night! Had a delicious dinner. Did not go back out. Too cold and misty. However, it is supposed to clear tonight and be clear in the morn. Low tide is also in the morn and that makes for good beach walking. Going south tomorrow to a lighthouse and other things.

Just might eat out tomorrow. That chowder was awesome and so neat meeting the fisherman that catches every thing. He was so jovial and friendly! Just have to go back!

Have thought of Sandi so often today. Been there and it was really a blessing that she went quickly. And last weekend was good!

Night all! SED!

Good First Morning of Spring 2014, Eagle Buds ! Here's hoping you're all seeing signs of new growth and rebirth. Only yesterday I spotted the first crocus sprouts peeking above ground and robin red-breasts abound--Spring has sprung ! Hallelujah !

LORI, I'm on in hopes of finding you up and at em' in you usual early a.m. style.

SANDI, thinking of you and the entire Moore-Roberts family as you prepare to celebrate your Mom's life and influence.

LOLLY, you closed out the night with SED wishes. I certainly had some, going to bed with the chickens and up ahead of them ! Your vacation is turning out to be THE best and I'm loving traveling along with you. You even make that chowder sound good and it's not my cup o' tea !

HODA, what ? More snow ? Doesn't the Canadian branch of ecology know it's now Spring ?

JUDYE, I see this is your official becoming a Momster anniversary. That means mine, too, as we joined up about the same time. I'd followed the nest for several years, but didn't seek out this blessed group til' the Liberty/Belle/Shep triangle trauma began. I know you and I are now hopelessly addicted to this blog full of caring, loving, generous Momsters and Dadsters !!!♥♥♥

Kay said...

LYNNEDUH, sorry to hear you are a part of the GM recall mess and that the dealer's don't yet have the necessary fix ! Be careful and avoid all those potholes created by our severe winter weather !

Speaking of taxes--I am in a low income bracket as a retiree and I have the IRS withhold about $1000.00 yearly, which means my refund is always exactly that same amt.. The fellow at AARP who prepared taxes for me Tuesday said I should think about having that stipulation removed, thereby receiving about 90.00 more per month. May be silly, but I always look at that little refund as savings for vacation/extras money. So I'm asking you experts if I'm wrong to be lending the government that money for 12 months each year. LINDA ???

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends. I am posting this from home.

The past 36 hours have been the saddest of my life.

I only slept about 4 hours Tuesday night, from 12:30 - 2:30 and then again from about 4:30 - 6:30. My brain would not shut down, replaying last weekend with Mom and thinking about a million different things. That's why I was emailing Jo at 3am.

It was hard sleeping at Mom's - I kept thinking I heard her moving around as I lay in bed tossing and turning. Not scary, just so very sad to realize it wasn't her that I heard and telling myself over and over that I'll never hear her or see her again. I am grateful that she didn't die at home in her bed since we will be spending a lot of time there this week and in the coming weeks as we pack up Mom's life and the condo.

Yesterday was awful - having to go to the funeral home to make all of those decisions about the funeral, going through Mom's roladex for phone numbers and having to call all those people and repeat what happened over and over. Just so many tears - I have never cried so much.

It was sad losing my dad 30 years ago but this is my mom. This is so much worse! I have to keep reminding myself that each day the pain will be just a little bit less. But that is little consolation right now. At times, the ache is actually physical, it hurts so much.

One piece of advice - make your funeral arrangements ahead of time. Plan it all out the way you want it and write it all down, even if that sounds like a morbid thing to do while you're still alive. It's something your children will hate having to do when you're gone, at least I know Lisa and I did.

Denny and I drove home yesterday afternoon after making all of the funeral arrangements. I was wearing old sweatpants and literally my rattiest sweatshirt when Lisa called Tues. evening, and I only grabbed a pair of underwear and a toothbrush before we flew out the door to try to get to the hospital to say one last goodbye and to tell Mom one last time that I love her. So that's how I had to go to the funeral home yesterday - no make-up, no decent clothes, I was a mess. So we had to come home and then we'll be driving back to Baltimore today for the rest of the weekend.

Last night I took half of a Benadryl at bedtime and I did sleep OK. I think it helped being in my own bed.

My brother's wife and all 3 of his children are coming for the funeral - my brother is not. That's actually a gift for Lisa and me, that he won't be there and we won't have to see him.

I know there are many of you who think I should be forgiving but to me, what he did was inexcusable and unforgivable. Mom and I talked about my brother a few weeks ago. She broached the subject - I never mentioned him to her. She was so sad that he never called and didn't come to see her. He broke her heart. She was one of the kindest, sweetest people to ever walk on this Earth - never an unkind word to say to anyone - and he broke her heart. I cannot forget or forgive that.

Obviously I haven't been keeping up with the blog and I hope everyone is doing ok. There was an email in my inbox this morning from Jo with Mom's death notice. I know you are all praying for me and I love knowing that - I can feel your positive energy. Thank you. I love you all.

Make it a great day everyone. I will check in when I can.

Hopping back on for a quick minute to tell a happy story about yesterday. Mom has a squirrel family that she fed. The parents would stand at the french doors and look inside to remind her they needed more peanuts. Yesterday morning, there was a squirrel looking in at me. I grabbed a handful of peanuts, which Mom keeps right next to the door and then opened the door. The squirrel walked right in and sat on the rug until I gave him a peanut - then he went back outside and ate it while i threw the rest of the peanuts on the patio. Mom had told me that she allows them to come inside the door for their peanuts!

Telling that makes me smile and that's what I need to focus on. Gotta run.

Dear Sandi,

When I was going though my divorce, I saw a counselor. One thing he told me was that you do not have to forgive. I know that is counter to what many people say, but maybe it is just in the definition of what forgiveness is. The thing to do is to put the wrong behind you and move on beyond it. Some things and some people cannot be changed, but they do not need to control you.

This much I know, you do not have to feel guilty for not wanting to forgive someone who has wronged you, or who has wronged someone you love.

stronghunter said...

Oh, and good morning.

Your squirrel story was touching, Sandi. I can just picture that little squirrel sitting there.

stronghunter said...

A thought, Kay. Maybe that extra $90 per month should go into an account that earns you some interest. The government does not pay you any interest on that money.

stronghunter said...

I still need to fill out the papers so that the government can take my taxes each month. It would keep me from having to deal with quarterly tax payments.

Mema Jo said...

Shirley those are very wise words for Sandi - Our life's experiences do benefit others. ♥

stronghunter said...

Thank you, Jo. I have had many years to think about these things.
