But why Scott, why is she (or he) being submissive to Belle, I understand it is an immature bird but instinct will rule, whereas people learned logic and instinct isn't as primal in us today animals are ruled by their instinct.
Belle is not getting quality sleep at the moment. Nest has lightened up a little and you can see her head sort of bobbing like she's nodding off then catches herself.
Whoo boy! It has taken me a couple of hours to get sort of caught up!
First of all, I am SOOO glad that Belle kicked SDTHB's butt! FINALLY!
Shirley, I'm glad to hear the fantastic news about Susan's graduation! Please pass my congratulations on to her!
Wanda, LOVE your story about the kids helping at the Soup Kitchen! What a blessing!
Donka, AMEN! Thank you for that prayer!
Oh, my, I am SO tired I'm about to do a face plant! Making sure the night light and the porch light are on. Have said prayers for all the folks here and all creatures. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Sleep tight, and I will talk to you in the morning light God bless and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
Good morning everyone. This is a beautiful white head in our nest showing through the darkness. I will certainly be glad when we get some resolution to this mess!!! Hope everyone has a great day. I am gonna try to stay on task today and get work done. Got lots to do today before my surgery on Friday.
Thanks Lori. I am feeling okay about it, just a little nervous of course. But I know God is in charge and the power of the Momster prayers is already at work, so I will be fine I am sure.
Ya know, as bad as I hate to admit it, I kinda feel sorry for the intruder. She/he seems so submissive. I just don't understand what is happening here, to say the least.
No feeling sorry for Trudy... understandable, but, her bigger and better days are ahead of her somewhere else when she meets her own Lib. I certainly don't hate her, tho she makes me pretty mad at times. She's just doing what her instincts permit her to do.
When does Wed blog begin I noticed this still says Tuesday and I habe the box clicked to receive all emails of comments to my email and I hope that wed will follow I getting ready for work and don't want to miss any thing So much easier reading in email because my page doesn't seem to keep up with the blogs unless I refresh it
We usually get a new thread with Steve gets to work. He is the only one who can start a new one. Sometimes he is just too busy and can't get it, but most of the time it is late morning, 9 or so, that we get a new thread. I feel the same way about getting the posts in my email. Much easier to keep up with.
Morning all- Today's nest weather- Rain this morning...then showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe. Highs in the upper 50s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
Oh 9 ok I have to leave in a few I think I might come home at lunch and click the box and then back to work I am still stunned with all what is going on with this nest I haven't even looked in on the others I saw the fight live yesterday and don't want to miss anything Talk at ya all later
Looks like Belle on nest no dark spot on head Now I got to head out the door for work Good luck Belle I hope its an easier day for you Love to all and God Bless this nest and all its watchers bye
There's a dark spot on the head of the other eagle. The one away from the camera. Belle just flew out, intruder still in nest. ANd intruder now flew out too.
My sympathy for her does not go deep enough to welcome her here. She needs to move on down the darn road and let us get our couple back. I would love to see Liberty, haven't seen him in forever.
I've been saying since the wkend that T just wants to b there w B. Last nite, B let T stay and hang out for a long time. B is finally giving in. I'm still saying a threesome. They would b invincible!
I thought maybe it was a new egg. The way the sun was hitting it made me wonder. This whole thing is so strange! Lori, that was a great video capture last night! Thank you, I missed the whole confrontation
Morning to "all" so many old bloggers and new bloggers in already don't want to put names because I'm afraid I might miss someone.
Thank you all for the comments already. I'm up to date.
Sissy prayers was already started for your surgery when you told us. Take care girl. Glad Sharon is arriving to help you out. She is an old hand at this surgery stuff. You've been there an helped her out. Sisters returning favors (:
last night after watching Belle's fight with the intruder I figured she would keep her nest. Then last night,I couldn't believe my eyes watching Belle with intruder just Sitting there, It's like they are family now! I hope this doesn't mean Belle is giving up. This is Crazy!!!!
Trudy's submissiveness and the overall strangeness of the situation got me to thinking when I should have been sleeping last night and one of those thoughts got stuck in my head. I'll throw it out to you all and you can tell me what you think....
Could Trudy be a rehabilitated eagle that was recently released (and may have some issues coming to light to show that she wasn't ready to be released or really isn't a great candidate for release).
I've just started watching the eagle cam this season so I may be really off base.
Lynne, apparently not enough coffee. Thanks for putting up with me.
Jen, I am not even a good educated guesser when it comes to eagles, but I think it's GREAT that you are thinking outside the box and willing to put it out there! Bravo!

Morning, all. This is Kathi at work again. I gotta change my name but don't know how....anyway, what a morning! Just when I thought the drama was over!
Sissy, before I forget, my prayers are with you. I'm sure you will come through with flying colors!!!
Jen, your comment about T possibly being a rehabbed eagle sounds feasible. I mean, what else would explain this behavior?????
Have a good day, eagle lovers. I'll be checking in from time to time. No audio, no ability to watch clips, etc. :(
I'm just going to watch for awhile and quit posting, unless i have a ? that I have to have answered. There is so many post to go through and I am not a seasoned observer. Seems right now there is more questions then answers. Someone needs to write a book about our Eagles in Shepardstown. I enjoy all the comments...still here but I need to learn more before opening my mouth. Reading up on Eagles. God Bless! you all.
Shirley, I see something about Susan and graduation. Assuming all worked out. Please send along my congratulations to her for all she has accomplished.
Yeah, I still have a few WT Sparrows, but not as many as before. I need to start keeping a journal. (of course, I say this every year) Seems to me the Juncos have usually moved out by now. Maybe I'm confused. Happens a lot.
Well Paula I just finished watching Confrontation II . In Confrontation I Belle cries were NOT alarming cries. In Confrontation II there was not even any cries from Belle. In that II video Belle has opportunities to attack the intruder like in I. Never happened.
I think it needs to be called video's of "two eagle friends hanging out in a nest together".
Christine, some people refuse to listen , I swear some people over there have no clue what they are talking about and they know they don't, they just wanna seem important to those of us who don't know any better. At least I have sense enough to know there are people who have watched these birds enough to know what they are talking about....... and he isn't one of them.
Uh, really, that's a losing battle over there...I'm staying away. I don't know exactly what is happening at this point, but in my opinion that was definitely the intruder we've been seeing, on the nest this morning with Belle. Exact same features.
I was going to stay quiet, but with nest orating that the intruder has been constantly trying gto do, spells male to me.
i know you all think I am nuts but it just makes sense.
I know when you see them in person, as some of you have , you say intruder is bigger, but I am having serious reservations here. I am not a kook, just stating from observations.
I'm not so sure, it's getting pretty deep over there. Gonna need a very large shovel to clean up that bs.
Those videos make it so obvious it's the intruder bird we've been seeing. No one is going to convince me that's Liberty. I've been there on the ground, I know what I saw. We saw all 3 eagles, the intruder bird is easy to pick out.
Hi, all! I'm late getting here this morning. Family and work are asserting themselves. :-) I see the nest is empty (again, still?) as it was when I went to bed last night. Has Trudy been back since she was unceremoniously shown the door by Belle?
We haven't seen the intruder before yesterday on the cam in the zoomed out view. The intruder certainly looks smaller than Belle. I've asked Lori to send me pics when they were both perched on the same tree, at different times on Sunday.
Yesterday was our first good look at the intruder since the cam has been pulled out. Prior to yesterday, we only had a close up view of the nest.
It's possible this is a male, and that he might have beat Liberty or chased Liberty out at some point, and is trying to take over the nest, from a male perspective.
I know that 3 eagles were seen at the nest soaring yesterday.
However, he is young, and obviously didn't know he should be bringing fish, if this is the case.
Anything is possible, and I think the intruder looks smaller than Belle in the videos and screen caps we've seen. But Liberty seems to still be in the immediate area, so I don't understand why he wouldn't fight this bird if it was a male. Liberty didn't looked injured, and I thought males would fight hard over a nest and mate.
I'm going to the gh where I know all the answers and there's no one there to tell me I'm wrong:)
At the WE nest, a new male, K51, showed up in the fall while K01 was away. He was very persistent, and stayed and stayed. Even tried to bond with the female, Wray. She wouldn't accept him at first. Then he started bringing fish. They did bond, finally. Then K01 returned, and he won the ultimate battle, whatever that was we don't know since it was off cam, and he is now on the nest with Wray.
And I did watch WE this past fall and saw all of that.
The intruder being a male might also explain the submissiveness. I don't recall seeing K51 fight with Wray. She would certainly give him hell, but I don't think she ever attacked him like Belle did.
Maybe that attack was because Liberty is still around.
I can't find it have looked the comment about the liquid from Belle's beak. I think is was PammySue that found the information and posted it on the bog.
When I was watching Belle do that it brought back a memory of when my daughter was on pedalight. The doctors where keeping her on it too long. She was still a baby and when I said, "no more". At the hospital they said the pedalight kept her from being dehydrated but caused malnutrition due to no food. They said if it would have kept on pedalight she would have died from malnutrition. So that is what I feel happened to Paddy O'Joy. Wasn't dehydrated but died from malnutrition.
BEagle, I have not softened to the intruder..... I am mad as heck. I have never been a big eagle fan, never paid them any attention really until paddy came along and I fell in love with paddy and belle, never seen lib but he has my heart too. I want Belle and Liberty to live happily ever after and this intruder bird off my computer screen ASAP......
Man, that is sad about Liz Taylor. what an actress she was. Just saw a special not long ago with Debbie Reynolds and her daughter. They were talking about Liz and how Debbie and her had been best best friends before the Liz Taylor, Eddie Fischer scandal. And how they had been able to at least talk now. Liz has had many ailments for a long time now.
Dana, kickingbird posted that info. The video is on my EM blog. Dr Sharpe did confirm that eagles can do this, he had seen it on eagle cams, presumably in CA
Dana that was K'bird. And before that, I had posted something along those lines....I had read and commented on an article explaining how eagle produce saliva when the are eating to help in digestion. It seems perfectly logical after reading K'bird's info that possibly the chicks don't have their own saliva at first, and the parent provide it for them. But I cannot find anything to confirm that.
I have felt in my gut , since the beginning , that this intruder was a male.
It just made sense to me. I have watched eagles since 2005 and all the behaviors pointed to it.
It would be natural for Belle to be aggressive as she jsut lost her chick and egg . and someone else was digging at the cup.
But I do not want you to think that I am not sensitive to your feelings. I have watched this pair also.
when my female falcon got defeated , I was mad as hell. But I did warm to the new female. By the way , my female survived and is nesting at another site in Edmonton and now I watch her also. she did try and re -claim her nest following year , but failed also.
I also want to say, the reason I am comparing eagles and falcons , is because they are form the same raptor family . behaviors are quite similar. Lib may still be around , and may try again.
I have also been thinking about an article posted by someone several days ago, maybe even better than a month ago. Maybe the one that posted will remember this.
The article was about a man with a rescue eagle. I think the eagle was Stormy. The eagle lost part of a wing and cannot go air bound any more.
The man was very perceptive about the nature of this eagle since he is keeping her and expressed ideas about eating habits when he brought her food.
Does anyone happen to remember that? My interest on this was the man's perception...like he a good observer and maybe has some insight into something like this.
I just started watching this eagle cam within the last week and hadn't known about this blog until Pam told me. I had been reading that OC forum and while I feel I'm no eagle expert and just know a little, I thought those people were nuts. I couldn't believe half of the stuff I was reading on there. A lot of times I felt like I wanted to jump through the computer to hit some sense into some of them....
I have given up on trying to figure things out. Whoever, whatever the intruder is, I don't like her/him. I resent the fact that our Paddy O'Joy is dead because of it.
Good rainy morning. SOmeone (Christine maybe?) said something about sun shining on something in nest that made it look like an egg....there is NO sunshine here. It is raining! And has been since late last evening.
Christine, could you please let us know what the people at the raptor center have to say about this situation? Bev, after watching those bizarre night videos, I was wondering the exact same thing, maybe Trudy really is a male. Either that or Belle is tolerating her because she thinks Trudy is kind of nuts too! This is by far the most fascinating eagle cam this year. What a great learning experience!
I still refuse to waste my time on the OC forum......I'm afraid that I would just tell them all to go jump in a lake because they are just plain stupid idiots. DOn;t know what Paula and MEgan told them, but am sure that you all are wasting your breath! THEY DON'T LISTEN, they don't read; they just blather.
I can only think of one heartbreaking THEORY on why Lib would not be fighting off this intruder if it's a male.....it would have to be because he simply knows he can't...we have no idea how old our beloved pair are, and while there seems no outward sign of problems with the sightings of Lib, we cannot know for sure.
Here is part of what Susan got in response to her email:
Finally, maintenance work is currently being carried out on our HD nest cam. We are working as fast as we can to fix this before the osprey potentially returns to the nest. Please rest assured that as soon as an osprey returns to the nest at Loch of the Lowes, we will do our utmost to ensure live footage is streamed as soon as possible from the nest.
Both cams currently show a birdhouse on a tree....so don't know what that's all about.
Came inside for hot water- Someone posted this- read these paragraphs- from the NBG in 2008- We are starting to get a picture of what has happened at the Norfolk Botanical Garden nest over the past week.
The intruding eagle has been identified as a 4th year female. While this bird has attained its adult plumage it still retains some darker feathers on both the tail and head giving it a somewhat "smudged" or mottled appearance. At times this intruding female has been seen with both resident eagles, with some mating behavior noted with the resident male. The resident female can be identified by the scalloped shape of her white "bib", while the male's bib has a relatively straight edge.
Oddly, at times the resident female & the intruder have been seen either flying with each other or perched quite close with no apparent conflict, at other times the tension between the birds is shown in threat displays and chasing behaviors.
Chrissy says: I have another way of contacting SWT Head Ofice,,, how long it will last I don't know pet,, but it's still up and working pet,,,, they might close this e-mail address down too soon,, so send everything you have and be damned pet,,,
If you go to the main SWT page top right you will see "Contact",,, click onto that and fill in the form and place you message there,, I've just sent one this morning and it went through just fine pet,,,
Can you do me a big favoure please,, can you tell all the girls about it,, those that want to send something please for me,,,
If there have been any rehabbed eagles released in this area, it has been clandestine! No known local rescues, recoveries, rehabs or releases---hey, the 4 R's!
Or some eagle that has a dark spot on its head.....I notice that the spot looks different sizes depending on position of head. Larger when head is down than when it is up.
I'll definitely let everyone know what they might say at the raptor center.....if I can get to any of the experts.
Floralgirl -- are you Megan? That posting definitely sounds like what's going on here. I wonder if there is follow-up. I know the intruder was eventually driven off right?
I remember that at Norfolk . I watched the whole season.
O.K. Since that the spot is not as big(and could be the light) if you take the spot away, does it look like Lib at all. Just asking. I was looking at the tail.
Sorry I am in the gh- if you go to the OC forum the link was posted by Mee. Or go to NBG blog and go back to 2008. Their female intruder was eventually driven out. And yes, I am Megan-
Thanks Sharon. I missed most of the bird in the nest because my picture was frozen and I didn't realize it. Didn't the spot on this birds head look tiny?

Bele is talkig again
Darn it, can't see. But some "chirping" in the nest.
and it just started pouring here
VERY DARK in nest this morning. Must be because of the cloud cover. One eagle in nest.
Good Morning Robyn and Trish....or I imagine it's still night for you.
Good morning Lori. Yes still "night" time here. Have been sick the past few days so it's all the same to me lol. My inner clock is a mess, ha.
It's night, was pouring a moment ago but there is a steady cold rain here now, I am 5 miles from nest as a crow flies :)
Hope you feel better soon Trish.
Belle is not getting quality sleep at the moment. Nest has lightened up a little and you can see her head sort of bobbing like she's nodding off then catches herself.
Time for work...Wednesday already.
Have a great day!
Have a good night/morning Lori
Hi, Everyone,

:o]
Nearly 5am and I can only see a small slice of the white part of Belle's head. Hard to tell what she's doing or how she might be sleeping.
Does anyone know where Scott posted his photos of Sunday nest visit? John's photos?
Lori they have pics on the Eaglet Momster's yahoo page. Good night again.
Good morning everyone. This is a beautiful white head in our nest showing through the darkness. I will certainly be glad when we get some resolution to this mess!!! Hope everyone has a great day. I am gonna try to stay on task today and get work done. Got lots to do today before my surgery on Friday.
Thanks Sharon, jsut figuring it out.
All this time I thought everything was on EagletMomsters.com and couldn't find where all the emails that I get the daily summary of were posted! DUH!
Hey Scott and John - I just saw your photos. They're awesome. Thanks for sharing. So nice to closely see Belle soaring.
Indeed a dark morning in the nest.
Sissy, I hope you're feeling better about your surgery. Prayers already being said!
Thanks Lori. I am feeling okay about it, just a little nervous of course. But I know God is in charge and the power of the Momster prayers is already at work, so I will be fine I am sure.
Sissy - have someone keep us posted if you can't, ok?
Oh, I am sure Sharon will do that. She is coming in tomorrow night to stay with me for a while. I am so grateful.
Ya know, as bad as I hate to admit it, I kinda feel sorry for the intruder. She/he seems so submissive. I just don't understand what is happening here, to say the least.

Belle is awake, still on the right side of nest, looking around. Still dark here.
Looks like Belle on nest no dark spot on head Now I got to head out the door for work Good luck Belle I hope its an easier day for you Love to all and God Bless this nest and all its watchers bye
Good morning eagle peeps. It's about time for Trudy to come in
and here we go again....
Belle is calling out
B is calling
Last nite was crazy the way they just chilled together.
Trudy has arrived
Good morning all....
Susan, what do you mean "the way they chilled together"?
And here is T!! Chilln and digging together.
Trudy and Belle side by side-
My live feed is so choppy. Is that the intruder already this morning?
do my eyes deceive me or is Belle eating while Trudy is nestorating???
Trudy moving sticks, Belle quietly calling out here and there.
T still submissive and just glad to b there.
I don't see any dark spots. Is that Lib?
Belle is eating something, it appears.
Way too choppy to tell anything!!
Belle flew out.
There's a dark spot on the head of the other eagle. The one away from the camera. Belle just flew out, intruder still in nest. ANd intruder now flew out too.
OK now that was just CRAZY
T arranging sticks and B flew out. And then T flew out. They are going for a cuppa and a morning flyabout. Oh they look like buddies now.
Lynne. B an T chilled in the nest together last nite. Could see them digging around and really just hanging out.
Intruder is back in nest.
Intruder moving sticks around again.
See posts at round 11:15.
T is back
What is it with this bird and the egg cup??
Trudy is digging around the nest cup area again, and then just sitting andlooking around.
Ha. Did u c T try out the egg cup for size??
Shower time for me
Belle just flew back in- trudy still in nest
Ooops B is back
Belle is back and it looks like she brought a can of whoopass with her!!
They are having a staring contest-
And they r chillin
This is way too weird.
Belle flew out
B flew while T stayed to dig
And Belle left again. Hmm...
The intruder (not giving her a name anymore) is still messing with the egg cup, now just looking around.
T moving sticks
trudy flew out mt nest
And away she goes.
T flew out
My sympathy for her does not go deep enough to welcome her here. She needs to move on down the darn road and let us get our couple back. I would love to see Liberty, haven't seen him in forever.
Morning everyone!
Can someone please give me an audio check? Hear anything?
Sorry to be a pain, but the nest is empty...and I can't use sound at work. I know - PITA! :)
well, it certainly looks like Belle has made peace with this whole situation.
Nothing going on right now, Lori- all quiet- Belle and the intruder flew out a few minutes ago.
Sound is working.
I've been saying since the wkend that T just wants to b there w B. Last nite, B let T stay and hang out for a long time. B is finally giving in. I'm still saying a threesome. They would b invincible!
Um, is there an egg in the nest? 5:00 Maybe it's just the way the sun is hitting.
Thanks Megan!
I posted pics from Sunday on my blog (click on my name and click on my only blog).
Thanks again for update.
There's nothing in the nest. Joy and the other egg are somewhere under the fluff.
I see the spot you're talking about Christine - eagle eye! Shadows, sun, grainy cam, etc play games.
I thought maybe it was a new egg. The way the sun was hitting it made me wonder. This whole thing is so strange! Lori, that was a great video capture last night! Thank you, I missed the whole confrontation
B an T have gone out to meet Lib for breakfast. I'll flip if they a fish back to share. Hahahaha.
I can't wait to get to the Raptor Center on Friday. I hope hope hope they've been watching all this!
Morning to "all" so many old bloggers and new bloggers in already don't want to put names because I'm afraid I might miss someone.

Morning Christine if you find an avatar you want to put up. Some can tell you how to do it. If you need that information.
Megan -
The pics take up a lot of room so be sure to CLICK "NEWER POST" at the bottom for the rest of them.
Well, this mornings events are as strange as last nights!
Christine - that was another Lori who did the video capture.
I'm just learning to post pictures! LOL :)
I mean...I'm not that techie or talented with computers!
Here are the video from last night...11:30 to midnight time frame
Confrontation 1
Confrontation 2
That was Lori from the WOW forum that did a video of the evening fight.
I think the spot on the intruders head is bigger from the attack in the nest from Belle.
last night after watching Belle's fight with the intruder I figured she would keep her nest. Then last night,I couldn't believe my eyes watching Belle with intruder just Sitting there, It's like they are family now! I hope this doesn't mean Belle is giving up. This is Crazy!!!!
@Lori (with the victorious Lib avatar), considering those pix you posted, I think you are pretty darn talented!!
Oh and HELLO ALL!! My brain is still pretty bent about the T and Belle antics this a.m.
Good morning everyone!
Trudy's submissiveness and the overall strangeness of the situation got me to thinking when I should have been sleeping last night and one of those thoughts got stuck in my head. I'll throw it out to you all and you can tell me what you think....

Thanks Fuzzle! Glad you liked the pictures.
Paula, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting video links. Wanted to show Kate. How freaky was that happening in the dark ?!?!?
Megan, ignore my comment about clicking on newer posts...I'm freaking (can I say that?) lost.
oh Jen, ANYTHING is possible at this point I think!
Is there a pic now? All is see is the "B"
Ah yes, there it is
Lori, sweetheart, how much coffee have you had this morning? LOL!
Just checked out the pictures, great job. Love the perspective ones! Very helpful.
Lynne, apparently not enough coffee. Thanks for putting up with me.
Jen, I am not even a good educated guesser when it comes to eagles, but I think it's GREAT that you are thinking outside the box and willing to put it out there! Bravo!
I apologize for bouncing around - been up a long time and forget some of you are just starting you day and waking up. (( hug ))
I also post the videos on the Eaglet momsters blog.
http://eagletmomsters.blogspot.com/
Or you can always just click on my name and go down to the eaglet momsters blog
Jen, I've wondered the same thing, along with a 1000 other scenarios. I finally had to take my meds last night to get some sleep!! I don't think anyone at this point can say for sure what's going on. From what I read somewhere yesterday (don't remember where) even FWS is watching "intently". I'm going out to the raptor center on Friday to see if I can get some insight.
Oh, if only we could go back to. . .
The Way We Were
oh please Lori....we don't "put up" with you, we LOVE you!
LOL Sharon!
Hey, just wondering if you still have Juncos down your way. I've still got them here. I think they are NEVER leaving to go north this year!
Paula I watched Confrontation 1 twice. I didn't see Belle go after intruder, not even a peck at intruder in that video. I heard her cries at times.
Going to watch Confrontation II now
Yes Lynne, I sure do and lots of white-throated sparrows. I will have to post a bird inventory after while.
Yes, Dana, that's what we saw too...no pecking...confusing to say the least. And none this morning, either.
God Bless! you all.
Good morning, everyone.
Shirley, I see something about Susan and graduation. Assuming all worked out. Please send along my congratulations to her for all she has accomplished.
Wishing everyone a lovely day.
Window on wildlife has video of the two nest visits this morning, if you missed them- on the NCTC thread- just posted by MT belfry
Yeah, I still have a few WT Sparrows, but not as many as before. I need to start keeping a journal. (of course, I say this every year) Seems to me the Juncos have usually moved out by now. Maybe I'm confused. Happens a lot.
Thanks, Megan
Hi Judie!!! Nice to see you!
Shirley, congrats to Susan! I must have missed that post in all of the confusion lately!
CRAZY!!!
Christine I like you deer avatar. ( :
Congratulations Shirley to Susan that they got her credits straight and she graduates. Nice ( :
Someone said they weren't feeling well. Was it "Trish"..whomever I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Paula thanks for the I & II video's.
Thanks Dana, that was supposedly taken up in Carroll Valley, PA where I'm from.
Ok, so I just got nasty on the NCTC forum. That Hans guy makes me so mad!!!
Megan, video certainly confirms what ya'll posted. :)
Oh Christine, that is the OD forum, please don't call that the NCTC forum!
Oh and that Hans and Linda over there don't know a thing!
The BS will weed itself out!
I just got finish watching the two video's "Window on Wildlife" posted by MT Belfry. Of Belle and the intruder.
I'm at the point I'm waiting for Belle to bring a fish in the nest and share it with the intruder. It is that crazy!!
Good morning
I see the nest is empty (again, still?) as it was when I went to bed last night. Has Trudy been back since she was unceremoniously shown the door by Belle?
Just a thought...
So the male and female wouldn't have to bond or mate or court before he would try to take over the nest?
Anything is possible, and I think the intruder looks smaller than Belle in the videos and screen caps we've seen. But Liberty seems to still be in the immediate area, so I don't understand why he wouldn't fight this bird if it was a male. Liberty didn't looked injured, and I thought males would fight hard over a nest and mate.
I'm going to the gh where I know all the answers and there's no one there to tell me I'm wrong:)
Just saw on FB that Elizabeth Taylor died. Wow...
No, they wouldn't.
Thanks Sharon sorry about Elizabeth Taylor...what an actress she was.
Good morning all!
It's practically impossible to catch up on the blog, or at least do a good job of it.
Have not seen any activity on the nest but see there were earlier posts.
I found the Confrontation videos and have them bookmarked for viewing later, having only looked through them briefly.
Are we softening to the intruder? It sure seems like it. After all, she is not fighting back and is submissive like Robyn has said more than once.
We like the Bald Eagles and it's a tough call on this one.
At the hospital they said the pedalight kept her from being dehydrated but
caused malnutrition due to no food.
I had to let Hans have it on OD channel too.
LOL on your post Megan!!
TJ and others, and from what I have also read, say that the resident male wouldn't allow an intruder male in.
I will throw out some of my thoughts though.
This intruder looks like its in the posture of mantling when I'm looking at it and Belle comes along. There is no food so there is no fighting back.
Also, I am almost certain that this is not the same intruder that I saw on the nest...I think it was Friday evening or Saturday.
The intruder a few days ago had the spots all over the head and she appeared bigger than Belle.
The one now is not bigger.
I am beginning to think that I have seen a young female and a young male intruder and they are looking for a place to nest. Could that be possible?
O.K.now I will be quiet, before you all boot me out.
But it is all speculation now.
oh stop it Bev, your speculation is welcome...we are ALL speculating!
BEagle, I'm sorry, I don't remember that....
Good morning,
I just saw that Elizabeth Taylor has passed away. How sad.
I have only a moment to check things before my first class arrives, full of energy.
Just passing along - Elizabeth Taylor has died.
Christine, are you talking about working at the egg cup?
Christine, could you please let us know what the people at the raptor center have to say about this situation?
Bev, after watching those bizarre night videos, I was wondering the exact same thing, maybe Trudy really is a male. Either that or Belle is tolerating her because she thinks Trudy is kind of nuts too! This is by far the most fascinating eagle cam this year. What a great learning experience!
Yes, Bev, I remember that article.
BEagle, this has still been Belle and the intruder this morning.
Oh wow, Rest in Peace Liz....
It's sad to hear about Liz Taylor. She was very beautiful and a good actress.
Hedgie, I just woke up to a nice foot of snow this morning. UHG!!!!!!!
Loch of Lowe's info:
Here is part of what Susan got in response to her email:
Finally, maintenance work is currently being carried out on our HD nest cam. We are working as fast as we can to fix this before the osprey potentially returns to the nest. Please rest assured that as soon as an osprey returns to the nest at Loch of the Lowes, we will do our utmost to ensure live footage is streamed as soon as possible from the nest.
Both cams currently show a
birdhouse on a tree....so don't know what that's all about.

Came inside for hot water- Someone posted this- read these paragraphs- from the NBG in 2008-
We are starting to get a picture of what has happened at the Norfolk Botanical Garden nest over the past week.
Paula, I wasn't confusing this mornings episodes or earlier episodes.
Sorry if I gave that impression.
This intruder eagle is smaller than the one I saw intruding last Friday night and had the dark spots all across the head.
This smaller one has only one spot at center left.
The two intruders I am talking about were not on the nest at the same time.
Belle is always in the confrontation.

wow Megan....just like what seems to be happening here!
If there have been any rehabbed eagles released in this area, it has been clandestine! No known local rescues, recoveries, rehabs or releases---hey, the 4 R's!
@Paula I think you are right on with this being a male. It's what I keep thinking every time we see this bird so submissive.
someones chattering
Turdy is in the nest.
Eagle on the nest.
Megan's post about the NBG intruder is fascinating! Is there more on that Megan?
The witch is back!!!
Errant feather on the back underneath the bald head.
Or some eagle that has a dark spot on its head.....I notice that the spot looks different sizes depending on position of head. Larger when head is down than when it is up.
Spot on the head.
OMG!! Get out of the darn egg cup/burial site!!!!!
Moving sticks.
I'll definitely let everyone know what they might say at the raptor center.....if I can get to any of the experts.
Floralgirl -- are you Megan? That posting definitely sounds like what's going on here. I wonder if there is follow-up. I know the intruder was eventually driven off right?
Re-arranging sticks on the far side of the nest.
OK, is this Trudy? there is only on large spot on the head, and I just don't see the dark feathers on the tail......
May I ask, is floralgirl Megan?
Megan, the NBG scenario sounds just like this one!
Yes, Floralgirl is Megan.
I remember that at Norfolk . I watched the whole season.
O.K.
Since that the spot is not as big(and could be the light) if you take the spot away, does it look like Lib at all. Just asking. I was looking at the tail.
Eagle off at 10
Just flew off on the Northwest side of the nest. (as we see it)
Sorry I am in the gh- if you go to the OC forum the link was posted by Mee. Or go to NBG blog and go back to 2008. Their female intruder was eventually driven out. And yes, I am Megan-
Norfolk Eagle Archives
Maybe I should say the 10:30 position.
Thanks Sharon. I missed most of the bird in the nest because my picture was frozen and I didn't realize it. Didn't the spot on this birds head look tiny?
OK we are going to split.....
