There is still an eagle at BWO!! Beautiful!

deb said...

Lunch time here, I broke down and turned the heat on, just to get the chill out of the house. Hopefully I can turn it right back off.

deb said...

I see I missed both eagles visiting, glad so many saw them.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I have saved a few pics. Will try to get them in the momsters album.

hedgie said...

Mits, that's absurd, isn't it? Shows the excellence of my thinking, huh?? :)

Sharon, sure that you will get at least one kind new.....but did you see where Andrea said she's only seen a cardinal once since she moved to CA??? That is SAD!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I haven't seen cardinals here but I think they come in the winter. More will be revealed. I do know that we have bluebirds, blue jays, mockingbirds, starlings, crows, woodpeckers (downy I think). I saw one out here yesterday but didn't get to see it long enough to identify it.

deb said...

The LA Olympics in 1984 was financially sound and made money. They were smart and used existing facilities where possible and used corporate sponsors to fund the few that were built.

hedgie said...

After a big breakfast, sure didn't need lunch, but tummy is starting to protest, so guess it's time to fix some dinner! Then want to bake the birthday cake.
Almost time for Margy to get off work...hope our eagles visit after she gets home!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I see Jo already has our folder ready for pics for the Open House! :)

hedgie said...

Deb, I'm thinking about turning on the gas stove this evening. Like you, long enough to get the chill off. It was 48 again this morning, and has been cloudy most of the day. But temps are supposed to rise each day for a week or so---yippee! A few sprinkles around the area now.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Gang,
Jumping in here to show you a picture of a Cooper's Hawk that showed up in my backyard today, and caused a major panic among my birdie visitors. It hasn't caught anyone yet, but gets an A for effort! Sure is purty.

Mema Jo said...

Andrea they are beautiful..
I had a pair in my yard one day for a brief period of time. Couldn't take my eyes off of them.

Mits said...

yes, Lynn, you are a wise woman:)

Heading home and down to Mom's. Moving my brother out on Monday to an apartment...so I won't be back on until Monday night...have a great weekend and Monday!

Hugs to all ♥

Oh, and happy eagle watching! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Well, I got my pics put on the eaglet momsters site.

Mema Jo said...

My cardinals that were around all summer have disappeared BUT when winter is here so are the cardinals.
Guess they take an early vacation and then head back.

BWE hanging onto the edge!
Hope they have a well attended open house at Blackwater tomorrow and that the sun shines on them.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Sharon for the new pics you just posted.

hedgie said...

Feel better now! Had a tomato/basil flatbread wrap with pastrami and provolone. Hey, Wanda and Margy---did you ever have the delicious hot pastrami sandwiches or reubens from Toll House Confectionary (corner of King and Tennessee)? They were the best!
Saw what was left of Raleigh Ridings' house today, Wanda and Margy---the best you can through the trees, that is. Sad. See in the paper where they think it was arson.

There was a good column in the paper about the stink bugs----very damaging to fruit and vegetable plantings. It wasn't online yet, but will keep checking and post link when it is.

Great shot of the Coopers' Hawk, Andy!!

hedgie said...

Sprinkles now a shower.

And one eagle

stronghunter said...

Hello to everyone! I got home a little while ago.

I think I finally figured out the problem with my gradebook program. I sincerely hope so. The tech person said, "Why are you having these problems, Shirley? All of the other English teachers are doing it correctly." Really made me feel good. :( Yeah, really.

It was the second time she had come to see me, so I decided it was time to see someone else. The new person explained for maybe five minutes, and I realized what was happening--at least I hope I did. Cross your fingers for me! I had been able to figure out the program I used last year mostly on my own.

Very angry about the fawn murderer. Can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said. Would not want to run into that old lady in a dark alley. Might scare her.

Hello to VA Eaglet Suzanne. Welcome to our blog. Please come back often.

Andy, how many courses are you taking? I am astonished at the number of tests and exams! Do they ever just teach a class, or do they just ask you to answer questions? Surely they must spend some time explaining things. And to think how my 12th graders explain about the amount of work they have to do. They had a movie for 1/2 of class yesterday and all of today. I hope they appreciate. We are studying Arthurian Legend, so I showed Merlin.

stronghunter said...

EAGLE!!!!

stronghunter said...

. . . 12th graders complain. . .

Got excited when I saw the eagle and did not proofread.

magpie said...

...was....

stronghunter said...

Poof!

Mema Jo said...

The valley has a few of your little sprinkles from Hedgesville now.

Mema Jo said...

Perhaps he will return. Same time almost as last evening!

floralgirl said...

Missed the rain here, had our usual 7 drops...

Mema Jo said...

Well I win this time so far - I had 22
drops.

stronghunter said...

Cardinal is back. He is amazingly red.

Mema Jo said...

Here is a thought about our early evening nest visits....
Maybe Lib is the one who turns on the
night light! lol

stronghunter said...

I saw a few drops on my windshield. There were 5.

magpie said...

Shirley - that tech person needs some lessons in manners....maybe she/he could learn that kind of thing from YOU.
Hope you figure the grading thing out okay.

Thanks for the Eagle wish, Lynn..it worked.

I also saw what was left of the old bldg through the trees. Where there is one fire bug with a match, he/she usually finds another one :(

Good Evening Everyone, going back through the earlier posts.
xo

Mema Jo said...

Cardinal must have vacationed at the beach and that is his sun burn red!

With that comment I know I need to take a break!

BBILW

magpie said...

Sharon's pictures are very nice. I put three up from last visit.

stronghunter said...

Jo, do you think Belle would let Lib turn on the night light?

magpie said...

Sure were some beautiful pictures that Helen got from BWO and Finland. Thanks Helen!

magpie said...

Lynn, the only things I had from the Toll House were fountain cokes, and chocolate nut sundaes. ☺

floralgirl said...

Ha ha Shirley, you're right, he might turn it on, but she would arrive to let him know how he did it wrong, and turn it on again herself.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Oh Megan, that is so true, cause you know he does nothing right the first time!

floralgirl said...

Uh oh, Here's Spidey!

Mema Jo said...

S P I D E Y

floralgirl said...

Creepy crawly...creepy crawly...

Mema Jo said...

I hope Hedgie reads about Spidey when she comes back from baking the cake!!!

magpie said...

How very special that Glo and Diann, and many others, got to see our Afternoon Eagles today. And Welcome to VA Eaglet Suzanne, what a great avatar!
Always nice when someone says OURS is one of their favorite cams ☺

I have sorrow for the beaten deer, and wonder what kind of problems a little old lady living alone would have to lead to that. Never know.
Sad to think of that much fear and aggressiveness to lead to something so brutal.

magpie said...

Holey Moley - Spidey !

magpie said...

I hit the fast refresh and dumped Spidey!

stronghunter said...

I think it is early Halloween at the nest!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Gotta love Spidey!

magpie said...

So what is the big white block of something at Pix Pa...behind the raccoon there now or is it just my imagination

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I will never forget the first time I saw Spidey on the cam. I think that was the first time I blogged too. Skeered the poopoo out of me!

magpie said...

Noises at Pix like cans being clunked. Maybe it is big raindrops and walnuts or something falling.

floralgirl said...

That is a mineral block or something like it- food for the animals.

Mema Jo said...

Read the Fri Oct 2 entry & view pic

stronghunter said...

I copied an image of one of the spooky scenes of spidey or whatever that was. I don't think it looked like any spider I have ever seen. Looked like an alien of some kind. I would post it, but you all might never look at my pictures again.

magpie said...

Something about the nest view reminds me of one of those Boppes...you know the big round pillows you put infants in....
or maybe a doughnut instead.

Mema Jo said...

Pretty Downy and a cardinal at Okie Bird Cam

magpie said...

Someone at work who must know I have trouble sleeping gave me a sound machine, has birds, woods, ocean waves, white noise, and rainfall....

magpie said...

Sure we would Shirley.
Nice link, Jo thanks, and thanks Megan, I checked our posts first before asking.

magpie said...

That Pix Pa cam is nice, and I love the sounds now that I have sound, but it demolishes my computer much like the California IWS sites used to, can't keep it up for long.

Play time is over, I got to get some things done around here.

TTFN xo

stronghunter said...

Watching the raccoon at Pix Pa reminded me that Susan said she saw two raccoons on the campus at George Mason the other day. She said the went down into a drainage ditch when she approached, but she could see their shiny little eyes looking at her.

Mema Jo said...

When the resident groundhog was there one day he was biting chunks off the block!

magpie said...

Ninja with glow sword is back

stronghunter said...

. . . and their cute little masks.

Mema Jo said...

Yes, Shirley I really do love watching the raccoons - especially their masked faces and then to watch their paw movements while eating.

magpie said...

cat or squirrel tore up one of my garden box plantings today...had all my little sedum plants in it :(

Mema Jo said...

I have no clue what I am seeing in the field at the PIX

Mema Jo said...

Well they changed it back to the raccoons....
The field - looked like a little ghost hopping around! lol It really could have been an owl...

stronghunter said...

Looked kind of spooky, didn't it Jo?

floralgirl said...

I think it was Sasquatch...

stronghunter said...

Have to go fix something to eat. BBL.

stronghunter said...

Sasquatch, well that is a possibility.

Mema Jo said...

Thunder storm at PIX

hedgie said...

Congrats to Alcoa Anglesea!!!

Boo to Spidey....glad I didn't refresh!

Cake is done...but it fell---first time I've had that happen in years! Extra icing will have to fill that depression!

Mema Jo said...

Sounds Yummy about the extra icing.

Mema Jo said...

Those 2 raccoons at PIX have been eating and chewing forever!

Mema Jo said...

I'm waiting over at PIX to see if the feed throw is on time this evening.
Should be in about 3 min.

Mema Jo said...

There it goes - feed throw
And there goes the raccoons running

magpie said...

Okay my night is complete, finally saw AND heard the feed toss at Pix Pa... ☺

floralgirl said...

Scared them away! those piggies...they'll be back.

magpie said...

It was exactly on time tonight, Jo...

magpie said...

Bear is up and on its feet at Snowman too

Mema Jo said...

The bear doesn't seem to know what it is he wants to do...... Hungry I guess.

Mema Jo said...

I am taking a break and then watching a 9:00 show - Medium....

Then I'll return..

IF anyone leaves for the evening I'll catch you tomorrow!

stronghunter said...

Talk to you later, Jo.

Judie said...

Hello everyone,

Going to make a final pass through the critter cams and then turning off my light. Very stressful day with never ending emails from students who cannot think beyond the next text message. Really discouraged. Days like this make me think it really is time to quit and just watch critter cams and blog.

My light is going out. The night light is on for others. Going to sleep so please don't slam the door if you come in later.

Judie

Lolly said...

Hello all! Well, I missed all the action tonight.....eagles and Spidey!

We bought groceries for our trip and then came home and mowed the lawn. Had to get the yard done today. Rain is predicted for the weekend, so we needed to get it done tonight. I must say the yard is looking good for this time of year.

Laurel was VERY tired tonight. She has already gone to bed. Both boys have soccer games tomorrow, but she is not going to let them play. Do not know yet if she is going to bring Jacob to us or do we need to go get him. Just depends on how she is feeling. Today really zapped her.

stronghunter said...

Tiptoeing in so I don't cause any more stress, Judie.

Hope tomorrow is a better day. It is a stressful job. I am sure many students appreciate you and all you do. They would miss you.

Lolly said...

I came in, Judie, but I hope I did not slam the door!

magpie said...

Woof! I am not entirely anti-hunting for a number of reasons, but I don't like the chat at Pix Pa about hitting and missing and losing track of possibly struck deer. :(
jmho
and I usually X it right out

hedgie said...

I'm tiptoeing in.....sorry Judie had a rough day off, and that Laurel is pooped. Know you are getting anxious to hit the road, Lolly.
Shirley....furniture there yet?

magpie said...

Poor Hedgesville Eagles Football Team, 0 wins for the season, got defeated tonight by Martinsburg Bulldogs 54-6. Martinsburg is my alma mater, but my heart is with the Eagles !

Hedgie, next time you forget something I could run it out to you and save you a trip back to town. I worked at Howard Johnson's in 1966-67-68-69. It stayed in business for a little while past that, and then folded up. Used to be good business when both race tracks in Charles Town were up and running.

Good Night everyone.

Hope it is a good, restful, peaceful, restorative sleep.
xo ♥
God Bless Us, Every One

hedgie said...

That chat room is not a good read, Margy! Some really nasty people there!

stronghunter said...

No furniture yet.

No insurance card, either.

I was supposed to have an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow, but they had not been able to confirm I have insurance. The woman worked late this evening trying to straighten it out. She finally cancelled the appointment--a rare Saturday appointment I have been waiting weeks for so I would not have to miss work. They had to know the name of the eye care provider.

I called the insurance company and got the name of the eye care provider, and left a message on the doctor's voicemail, but I do not know if I can get my appointment back.

Lolly said...

Been on facebook catching up on comments. About to fall asleep sitting here.

Lolly said...

Hope you get the appointment back, Shirley. They just do not realize how hard it is for teachers.

stronghunter said...

Can't imagine why you are so tired, Lolly. Grogery shopping, mowing grass, getting ready to go while worrying about your daughter and her family. Makes me tired just reading it all.

stronghunter said...

I have been having slight headaches at the end of the day. I do not usually have headaches. Really want to get the eyes checked.

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Lolly.

deb said...

I am home and caught up on comments. I win the rain contest, two days straight, I wish I could lose that one. The road construction right by my house is a huge mud puddle to drive through.

stronghunter said...

Going to go upstairs and curl up. Might try to stay awake and watch Lettrman. Strange story!

Lolly said...

Don't you just hate road constuction?

Glad you are home, Deb. No rain here but we are expecting it for the weekend. I would love a good rain just before we leave Sunday.

hedgie said...

Poor Eagles....what a horrible trouncing.
Margy, I'd never ask you to do that!! But thank you for the sweet offer.
Golly, you were just a baby when you started working! Where in CT was the HoJo's?
Sleep tight and have a good day tomorrow.

deb said...

Every direction I go this year, road construction. Yankton trip is about 10 miles of const. Go to Sioux City and hit about 15 miles worth. Sioux Falls to get there is 12 miles, then const. when you get there. All projects are behind schedule because of all the rain this summer and fall.

Lolly said...

Yuck, Deb! We are heading out Sunday morning. Hope we do not run into road construction. Usually in west Texas we do not run into road construction.

deb said...

Tigers lose 8-0, twins win 10-2. This one will be down to the last game I think.

hedgie said...

I'm going to say goodnight, too, gang. I'm a sleepy momster. Prayers for all.

Mema Jo said...

The PIX chat road can be taken down with the red X up in the right hand corner - Megan showed us that one.
You can then make the cam pic larger.

All those guys are Hunters and their chat is their own way of life. Best not to even read! Just enjoy the cam.

Mema Jo said...

Bear is still on the Snowman cam.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Well, my eagle budlets. I am going to bed. Got an early day tomorrow. Meeting at 7 a.m. and then to Lynchburg to get my hair done! I promise to send out pics when I get back!

Mema Jo said...

Night Sharon - sleep well

Mema Jo said...

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Jo, are you trying to rub it in about the beach? :)

Lolly said...

Sharon, no one on here would rub it in about going to the BEACH! But, I did go to the BEACH twice the last few months.

And, you know, I never once saw a TRAIN at the beach!

Lolly said...

Going to call it a night!

Nite all!

Sweet dreams!

Bird Girl said...

Hey everyone! Just popping in to say hello, and that I'm excited our eagles have returned! How many eggs this season, I wonder?

Also, I'm updating the mailing list, I sent a message on the yahoo group list.

Magpie: I got it, thank you!!

Ms Bookworm said...

Good (very late!) Evening, Everyone,
I've just dragged myself in from school. The Mid-term exam was a real stinker, but I think I did OK on it.
175 medical terms we had to give a definition for--Yikes!
Have sorta read some of the blog.
Jo and Lynn, glad you like my new (apparent resident) raptor! It kept coming back, and coming back--about 5 times I think! Will have to watch closely for it tomorrow, and see where it goes when it leaves. I haven't seen the pair of Goshawks that had nested in our big tree in a few weeks, so this Cooper's Hawk may have moved in somewhere around here.
Can't tell whether it's male or female. Don't know whether it has a mate, either. Sure is beautiful! Boy, did it cause a near riot when it showed up, though. Had about 50 sparrows, house finches and doves going about 50 different directions, FAST!

Bird Girl said...

Hey Bookworm :)

Cooper's Hawks are pretty cool. Easily confused with Sharp-shinned when juveniles.

Gotta say, when a hawk comes in the area, you sure know it!! Heheh

Bird Girl said...

some kind of shorebird on closeup on Pete's Pond

Ms Bookworm said...

Shirley,
I'm saying prayers for you for techie wisdom! Sure can be frustrating, can't it? In my experience with lots of techie people, I'd say that 99% of them are really rotten at relating to people. The other 1% have hearts of gold. Sorry you met up with the wrong one. Hope you manage to keep your appt. you made for Saturday, too. Those are SO hard to come by!
Sounds like Judie had a discouraging day today. Hope the situation improves real soon! Hang in there!
Hopefully you'll get a really good night's sleep, and everything will look better in the morning. Why is it that really good teachers are so un-appreciated nowadays? Rest assured that I certainly appreciate you, and so does everyone else here, I'm sure!
Oh--tried really hard not to slam the door and wake you up!
Well, gang, I think I'll go watch some TV and relax for a bit--I need to unwind, for sure. Will be back in the morning. Prayers for all being said. There's a night light still on for insomniacs, the porch light's automatic, and the eye-scanner lock is enabled. Good night, everyone.

Ms Bookworm said...

P.S.--Forget who it was, maybe Shirley, who asked about my classes. I only signed up for Anatomy/Physiology and Pharmacology this semester. You can see why--the teachers recommended that I do it that way, because they're both pretty intense classes. when we get to class each time, the first 20 minutes or so are set aside for the weekly exam. It's just a given. Sure keeps you on your toes! Gotta say, I never, ever have had so many exams!
Not a chance to relax for even an instant! Well, I'm headed for the TV now. Sweet eagle dreams! G'night....

magpie said...

Good Morning...could it be THAT TIME again so soon ??

Our nest is empty, Finland Waters are full with little sailboats in the distance, and the nearly full Moon is setting in the West.
I'm headed to work now.

Best Wishes for a good day, prayers for all our needs, and hope you get to see lots of Eagle Action today

Happy Saturday AM to all---I am remembering 37 yrs. ago---laying in hospital waiting for doctor to show up as I was basically starting to bleed to death with a placenta previa. THey finally took her at 11:57am, and we both barely made it. They hand-pumped 6units of blood in to me before I left the OR. But GOOD outcome, my dear Carolyn survived and thrived!

Thanks for fixing and posting the pic, Wanda!!!

Good morning, everyone.

Feel a bit better this a.m. but still astounded at the inability of college seniors to actually thing of applying classroom material to an assignment. Scary, really scary. Hope they find employment where someone will be there to tell them what to do and how to think because they can't do it on their own.

Think I will finish exam questions and tackle the laundry today, maybe iron some blouses. Very pretty morning with bright sun and blue sky. Checked the cams but all seem quiet right now.

Please everyone have a lovely morning. I'll check in later.
