That sure is a beautiful nest we have there!

magpie said...

Lynn - I think you are correct on that old building, sure I would have seen the flames/glow from here if I had gone out to look....

Hate to see that kind of stuff, makes me think there are fire bugs out and about!

Graet pictures in tje Journal though, love the one of the firefighters standing there lined up and watching....

thanks for the call-over Margy:)

intersting/disturbing story of the embezzlers from Jefferson Co fire company....

ten or so years ago we had a similar problem at Hedgesville Fire Department...one big difference, was that the amount was close to $80,000...long-time member/treasurer was the culprit...never should have happened....

GOOD MORNING...
Just spoke with GeeGee and she doesn't know for sure which house burned (trees are in the way), but she said fire trucks parked all over her lawn and was there a long time. Must surely be Robin Townsend's old house.

Wanda's shop has been opened for almost an hour! I hope everyone wants
to disguise themselves for Halloween!

Just got a call and a lunch date with office gals. We missed Sept somehow.

6 b-days this month - list is almost ready to send out!

Guess I best get a move on.. May go to Walmart after lunch....

Mema Jo said...

All I need to do to really get moving is to play Andrew's Drum Line Video..

I love that sooooooooo much!

Good morning, everyone!

So sorry about the injured deer. Wish it never would happen but at least it won't suffr any longer.

Glad Gee Gee wasn't affected by the fire -- only the fire trucks.

Andy, congratulations, again. YOU ROCK!

Will have to check on the cam later. Getting ready for my next class of wannabe adults.

May head to Wanda's after second class to get some wax lips. I WANT TO BE A PRINCESS!

Happy opening day, Wanda.

Good morning! Great to see a nest with correct time. Now, has anyone seen an eagle?

Trailer is in the drive and now we start preparing to leave. Still well, but Jack and I are turning into hypochondriacs, every little thing we worry...is this it? Nope, going to think positive.

Have not talked with Laurel as she called while we were gone and I have not been able to reach her since we got back. hmmmmm?????

Margy...you are the sweetest, most thoughtful person! God's blessing on you. I know Norma had so much fun getting her little gift from you, just as I loved getting the adoption card. It made my day!

Would you believe we are having another rainy day? Actually, I love getting rain just before we leave. Makes me feel good about the yard, but we also need to mow before we leave.

Going to spend the day loading. Thinking of Wanda and her shop. I am so glad we stopped by there last year. Nice to picture Wanda at work in there. Have a great season, Wanda!

hedgie said...

J8st saw a very strange bug outside----looked like some kind of grasshopper but only about 1/2" long, pale tan but with antennae that were 3" long!!!! Wierd.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Headlines from the Bedford Bulletin yesterday -

Real stinkers - Putrid pests invade Bedford homes! They say the ones here are from the family Pentatomidae because of their 5-segment antennae. They say not all are bad, like the spined soldier bug! Well, I say whatever, they all stink!

Mits said...

I suspect, we will see them, hopefully, at the end of the day:)

Good Morning/Afternoon, Eagle Buddies,
I just woke up! Oh, what weather we're having here! Santa Ana winds, blowing like a hurricane, and supposed to reach 90 here today. Crazy.
Just wanted to let you know that Hubby is getting off work shortly, and we are spending the day with my sister-in-law. Going to lunch, then probably a movie. Gotta do some damage control with the hair & makeup, and use 'concrete' hair spray, so I don't frighten small children. Then I'll be outta here. Don't want you all to worry about me, so reporting in. Will BBL, but probably much later today. Haven't read the blog at all, so will have to catch up later. Have a wonderful day, and will talk to you later.

Lolly said...

Let's go, Mits! I want to swim with the dolphins too. Must admit it might be a little scary at first, but oh, the experience.

Mits said...

I'm right there with you, Lolly.

Lolly said...

Just talked with Laurel. They seems to all be better, though Joseph had a coughing, panic attack early this morning. Once Joey got him calmed down, he could breath okay. Now the two boys are driving Laurel bananas!! Must be getting better. Laurel is going to grade papers today and she thinks she and Joseph are going back to school tomorrow.

deb said...

That would be so much fun, maybe someday!

paula eagleholic said...

Good news, Lolly!

hedgie said...

Oh-oh-----fire has rekindled.....watch out, GeeGee, fire trucks coming back. Hope they aren't damaging the lawn.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Well, a little after midnight, a 91-year-old neighbor lady passed away. I had never met her but talk with her daughter often. Then at 4:23 a.m., one of Andrew's lifelong friends and his girlfriend had a little baby boy, Gabriel! One goes and another takes the place. Drew (Andrew's friend, not Andrew), called me yesterday to tell me Sammie was in labor. He sent a text during the night to let me know the baby was born. He hadn't even contacted Andrew. Drew has always called me "Momma". Love that kid and I pray things go well for them!

I would love to swim with the dolphins, too, if I knew how to swim!

Lolly said...

Okay, gotta tell you about the "Alternate Friday Aficionado Enchilada Society." This is a small group of aeronautical engineers who for years have gotten together for lunch at Mexican food restaurants every other week. (Well, now it is Thursdays since every other week it is a 4 day week.) Jack is one of the founding fathers. lol They have a talisman that they pass around in alphabetical order. The holder of the talisman selects the eating place. It is up to the others to be highly critical of the selection. They have one member who is on permanent probation. Poor Bob gets lots of ridicule! They have a lot of fun. Anyway, Larry, who was just killed and who funeral we went to yesterday was a member. They are having their usual lunch today, they plan to have a pitcher of beer in his honor. Please think of this group of men in your prayers. This will be a hard lunch, though lots of laughter.

Lolly said...

Well, Lynn, before we go on this road trip to swim with the dolphins, we will just have to teach you how to swim. Or, maybe, they would let you go in with floaties. I could easily go in with the dolphins, not only can I swim, but I float like a cork! lol

I'm sure it's going to be an emotional lunch, Lolly. Good for the guys to meet and have one for Larry.

magpie said...

Okay so no one has won the Our Nest Contest yet...

Lolly - - very special luncheon for Larry, and the sight of those bicycles yesterday must have been very heartwarming. Special things like these, make the loss, more spiritual and loving.
Glad the Laural family seems to be coming along.

magpie said...

Sharon - wonderful news about the new baby, how special to be one of the very first to know!

I think Deb should be the first one to see the Eagles at NCTC - since she is house-bound due to weather...and doing housework!

But there are many special ones here who should be the first! ♥

magpie said...

passing through, had to put my black raspberry chocolate ice cream away. Funny how one goes in for cheese and mayonnaise, and comes out $78 later ☺

Off to the post office, back later...xoxoxo

magpie said...

Lynn - I drove past where I thought the fire was, and couldn't see a thing, that was at, now they are back out there, maybe still. Not uncommon, esp if it was a large structure with a lot of wood and maybe some packrat things..

hedgie said...

Oh, Sharon, the cycle of life, for sure. The Lord giveth and the Lord teketh away...Blessed is the name of the Lord.

magpie said...

funny how we say "new baby" - like there is going to be an "old babyY born....

I tell you, I am often the poster with comment #69.

hedgie said...

Lolly, glad that Laurel and family are feeling better, but still don't think she should go back to work tomorrow!
Very nice tradition the guys have---today will be like their own little wake for Larry.
LOL, Lolly----I sink big time. Many have tried to teach me, but it never works!
Margy, rekindle especially when wind is blowing is almost "to be expected"---and if it's R.R.'s house, it is old and all wood and big.
Sounds like good ice cream! Enjoy!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

LOL, what are you trying to say Magpie? :)

Mema Jo said...

Just returned - need to read comments
Anxious to see if anyone got Margy's 1st To See The Birds award!

hedgie said...

Sharon, Margy's getting ribbing for a second day in a row!!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Too funny and Jo, nobody has won yet but I am hoping too! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I am thinking if I win, I might get to see the nest on October 17!!

Mema Jo said...

Margie That is some fantastic kind of ice cream flavor! Never go into a grocery store when you are even the least bit hungry!

Mema Jo said...

Wish you luck to be the 1st Sharon.
Have no clue what the prize would be other then the Thrill of seeing Lib & Belle after such a long time! That would be enough for me.

If everyone is eating dinner at dusk
I could be the first this evening!

Mema Jo said...

Need to make an Oct B-day list for you all!
Anyone not a Momster/Dadster let me know as that is the email I use to send the list.

Going to put feet up for an hour.....

Today is a friend of mine's daughter's 10th birthday. They have been hiding the big surprise present for months now. Tickets to a Mile Cyrus concert in Omaha tomorrow. Miley has strep throat, so the concert was postponed. Poor Kris, I think she is more upset than Ashley will be. They will still get to see her, but not until Oct. 13.

magpie said...

Hi Deb...wow, that is great but disappointment for the postponement. 10th birthdays are important, she has reached the first decade!
Love her first name ! Reminds me of my naturalist friend in NY. ☺

He reports seeing Palm Warblers, Blue-headed vireo, common yellow throat, and black throated green warblers. Just checked them all and listened ♫ to them on my Thayer's Guide....all are very beautiful.

deb said...

Poor Kris has been so excited for the big reveal, but Ashley will be thrilled even if the concert isn't tomorrow. it will just take a little scheduling since they live in Rapid City.

magpie said...

Oh I can understand that kind of disappointment, like when my brother's package U-turned back to Baltimore! Sometimes the adults can get more excited than the children ☺

deb said...

That's right, Margie!

It is snowing in the Black Hills again today.

deb said...

Just the higher elevations, not in Rapid City.

magpie said...

Wow, Jo
Thanks for that October Birthdays email! There are some very important names on there ☺ - as there are of course on all the other months past and future.

Okay, time out from the contest for me for a bit, need to take a little shut-eye.

I am still watching for our Majestic couple to appear. I know my heart is going to skip lots of beats when they do!

I hope Wanda had some business today!

Hey Locals We should go to the shop!

PA Nana said...

Hi everyone. Blessings around.
I'm just checking in before the big day - Monday. I'm on pain meds and am able to use the computer for brief times. Having terrible pain in my "mouse" arm. Please pray with me that the surgery will be successful.

I'm watching for our eagles and I've been checking on the little panda and watched as mom gave him a bath (I think) today. She turned him up and down and sideways and I had to laugh. I didn't hear anything from the little one but I would have had something to say if my mom had done that. :D

Take care and God bless

Mema Jo said...

Just finished watching Diego's 5th exam video. Now there is a close up of him in the den sleeping. I'd so much want to hold a baby panda that size.

floralgirl said...

ROAD TRIP!!!!

Mema Jo said...

Hi Diann! Prayers for your surgery and speedy recovery. Will you have a hospital stay or not?

Mema Jo said...

Road trip to see Diego or

To the costume shop?

We could drum up business for Wanda by dressing in her costumes and parading
through the streets of Shepherdstown and Martinsburg!

floralgirl said...

Wanda's, of course. Although I hear some of you wanna see that panda...

hedgie said...

Diann, so sorry to say that I forgot to write down the date of your surgery....was it this week??? I am SO sorry that I forgot to wish you well beforehand. Have been including you in my prayers all along cause know how much pain you've been having. Hoping that everythimg is successful and that post-op pain will be short-lived. Hang in there, make it through your therapy, and plan to join us on the next adventure we have.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Does Wanda have a baby panda costume?

Mema Jo said...

Lynn Sounds as thought Diann is saying that her surgery is this coming Monday the 5th.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Thirty lashes with a wet noodle Lynn!

Mema Jo said...

We need to ask her, Sharon!

Incidentally what size shirts does
Mattie wear?

Judie said...

Just checked PixPA cam and there's a critter there I can't identify--maybe neednew glasses. Anyone recognize it?

deb said...

Is it a woodchuck??

hedgie said...

Not sure, Judie----wish he'd turn around---maybe a groundhog.

floralgirl said...

Lo9oks like that fat ole groundhog to me.

Mema Jo said...

hedgie said...

Oops---woodchucks and groundhogs are the same thing!! Maybe he just has a super big tail!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood??

deb said...

I couldn't think of the name groundhog. Lynn, learned something new, that they are the same thing.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Or a whistle-pig or a land-beaver. Learn something new every day!

magpie said...

Mema Jo is having burgers but I am all for that road trip to the Costume Shop! and the parade around in Mtsbg and Shep-town!

Lolly said...

LOL Sharon!! I was sitting here saying that and you typed it. LOL

Judie said...

Ah, thanks for the identification. Just hadn't seen it there before.

Hope Wanda has had a good first day and sold tons of wax lips.

I'll mark Monday on the calendar for Diann. Eagle prayers for successful surgery and quick healing.

All will be fine as soon as Ashley sees Miley Cyrus. Date will be irrelevant.

Any update on Dana and Ed?

Ah, some of you may have noticed that I have not left for my daily search for frig inspiration. Well, turns out I had an offer of dinner out in a real restaurant. So, off I will go soon. Will be back to check the night critters.

floralgirl said...

Sharon, she said BEACH!!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I saw that word, Megan, and I think she was being surly for using it!

Lolly said...

Been packing! It was so much easier to pack for the BEACH than New Mexico. Having to pack jeans and sweats as well as shorts and t-shirts.

Mits said...

hmmm, I'm sitting here watching my....ocsurfcam.com.....watching the beach:)

Mema Jo said...

Enjoy your dinner out, Judie. lol about
the Diego checker upper!

It is 6:00 here - within the hour we should see them...... I sure hope so!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yeah, I am needing to go to Wal-Mart but I am going to try to wait for a little while!

Mema Jo said...

Mits, Are you headed back anyways soon?
Is or was Molly's b-day party today or this weekend?

Noisy aren't I!

hedgie said...

Hey, Shar---A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood!!!

Enjoy dinners out, Judie and Paula!

Oh-oh- Mits is going to be on Sharons' list next!!! Surly, indeed! LOL!

Mema Jo said...

They call a groundhog/woodchuck a whistle pig BECAUSE if you see one in the field or along side of the road, Just whistle and he will sit right up and look all around. I have been seeing so many young ones in the grass along the shoulders of the roads.. I beep the horn and they react the same as if they heard a whistle.

hedgie said...

Good to know that I DIDN'T miss Diann's surgery date....and need to read more carefully, huh?

Mits said...

well I would like to go down the BEACH in between zoo days, but am afraid to be that far away with dil so close to due date, we will see...I have some unfinished business with curtains being now fixed yet...grrr. We will drop off Molly's gifts after we go to the Orioles game on Sunday

hedgie said...

Bisquits and sausage gravy (yep, Red---canned!) for dinner here. Have finished cleaning. Retiree breakfast in morning, then several errands to run---most important of which is getting birthday present for my Carolyn----37 Sat. Having family dinner here that evening.

Mema Jo said...

I can understand what you are saying about it being OCT and not being certain when Benjamin is coming into this family! I think I would want to stick close to home also.

I see that Boo at the Zoo is the last weekend in Oct. Love that child's panda costume on the cover!

Mema Jo said...

Sharon - Walmart is opened all night - you can wait until it is dark before you stop looking at the nest!

Is your hair appointment tomorrow? Fri?

Mema Jo said...

Scares me when the cam goes 'black screen' when it refreshes ...

Mits said...

yeah I had the black screen but hit refresh and it came right back on

Mema Jo said...

Same here! But I guess I really
BEAT the refresh key !

Mema Jo said...

Maybe 45 more minutes until they could appear?

Mema Jo said...

Getting an early evening cup of coffee! It is really chilly out there!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And I am still here and still watching. How are my buds doing?

Mema Jo said...

I see a Webmaster email address under

Mits said...

beautiful sunset at Peggy's cove

magpie said...

This bud is doing good. Just had a long conversation with Dana.
Short story long, she is okay, sends her love, and prayers, tells God that she might not know who needs them each day but HE sure does.
Part I, Part II to follow.
She is fixing baked pork chops and herb potatoes for din-din for Ed and her. ☺ Yum !

hedgie said...

Sure doesn't look as dark at nest as it does here.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

They don't go to the d--n beach!! LOL!

magpie said...

Dana is enduring endless calls to doctors, visits with pharmacists, etc to work things out for herself AND Ed....her right eye is still giving her some problems which makes it very difficult for her to be on the computer.

Dana thanks everyone very much for all the prayers, and appreciates that they will continue

Mits said...

hey Jo email them and tell tehm to get rid of the annoying nctc logo, Suz and I don't like it hurts the eyes

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for the update on Dana & Ed, Margy. What's the Part II ??

magpie said...

Also told her we were watching the nest grow waiting for an appearance, and also that we are thinking of a Road Tripo to Wanda's and will keep her posted ☺

Mits said...

best time to watch the dolphin cam is between 5 and 7, light changes and the dolphins swims are over, you see mom and baby swimming by often

magpie said...

I was beginning to think the same think about the darkness of the nest and it is further EAST of us here in Berkeley County. Ruh, Ro...

magpie said...

Also, Dana's Mother lives pretty close to me - in Star Acres... and she and her went out to Wendy's for some chow today...she enjoys that, in fact, they both do.

Ed's birthday was Yesterday!

Mits said...

oh Sharon, forgot, they stopped by last week and I gave them the keys to the condo.....told them to clean up after themselves and no late night parties

magpie said...

cam is refreshing, I'm pretty sure we are LIVE.

Mema Jo said...

I can do that - I really think it is very distracting -- What if that red
lettering is what keeps the cam going?
Then I'll be in Bigger Trouble! lol

Mits said...

sunset at nest still 8 minutes away

Mits said...

my lettering is orange...

Mits said...

well, if that is what keeps it up guess we have to live with it

magpie said...

Ed's sister gave him a card, part of which said: " We have had several happy memories. I will never forget the day Mom brought you home from the Vet's. " ☺

He will be watching and/or listening to the Mountaineers game, and then other good shows on TV later.

Dana and I had some laughs...
so there is Part I, II, III and maybe IV. xoxox

magpie said...

WHAT red lettering, and it's not blurry here at all! Ha Ha Ha Psyche....
