magpie said...

Hey Lynne 2 announced it...come on Lynne 2 - - you found it. Thanks for finding it and sending out the alert. Good to see you on here today ☺

Thanks, Steve, and thanks for new up and running Still Cam without those distracting orange letters !

Lynne2 said...

it's lonely over here

floralgirl said...

You are not alone...lol...

Lynne2 said...

hey guess what Margy....weather lookin' bleak for camping and hubby not so keen on going so we'll give it another day or 2 to see if it improves but woo hooo....getting a little closer to Open House maybe!!

THANKS STEVE!!

Lynne2 said...

oh hey Megan!

magpie said...

Love that avatar, Lynne - especially nice to see that again ☺

I'm looking for some warm pajamas and need to get some housey things done and a couple of family emails.
Back in a little while.
xo

Lynne2 said...

love your new avatar, by the way!!

magpie said...

Yes, saw your posts Lynne...
hope things work out in just the right way.

Lynne2 said...

thanks Margy, just thinking I should change to something more seasonal

floralgirl said...

I like your avatar, it's pretty.

magpie said...

I think of changing mine sometimes, but I really like the one I have (gift from Paula) and just tend to leave it be.
I don't want to fix something that isn't broken ☺

Lynne2 said...

good idea...mine is from mine and Steve's first official date last Sept....hard to believe we'll be married a year soon!

Judie said...

Thank you, Steve.

Yep, cooler weather, a blanket, and some heat -- sure feels like summer is over!

Hi, Lynn2. Hope you will be at Open House. Would like to meet you.

Margie, Dorset will be absolutely just fine. A little "down" time is usual after a surgery. Part of recovery as most all of us know from experience. Hugs and lots of love will do the trick.

Nest is looking really nice. Belle and Lib are doing a very nice job of nestorations.

Off to watch some Extreme Forensics -- I know, I know, I'm a real pervert. Better to study crime than to do the crime.

Back later.

Lynne2 said...

well girls I am off for a hot shower and then some hot chocolate to take the chill off....heat not working in new place....eeeekkkkk!! So far not bad, hopefully will be fixed by Wed. and I am hoping my poor little houseplants don't die on me...have a great night!

hedgie said...

Thanks for callover, Lynne!
Yes, Margy, ASK THE CABLE PEOPLE TO HOOK IT UP FOR YOU!!! Don't know why they didn't to begin with.

paula eagleholic said...

Wow, how about that! Thank You Steve!

magpie said...

Yeah, I'd keep that one on there forever, Lynne....nice reminder of what sounds like a really special time. ♥

My original Magpie was from Deb, one from the Black Hills of SD, a real beauty.
I might try to get that one back on here for a little bit.

magpie said...

I love the forensics shows, Judie...when I can get to them...
sometimes I am afraid to watch scary things by myself...like one of the Criminal Minds shows a few nights ago.
And I don't do horror shows. Never!

paula eagleholic said...

Looks like that was a nice first date, Lynne

floralgirl said...

I don't watch scary stuff either, life is scary enough for me.

magpie said...

Okay new thread, more birthday greetings:

Happy Birthday Jo...♥

Bet those crab cakes were great!
And the family time...☺

magpie said...

Gotcha there, Megan...10-4!

Judie thanks for the encouragement for Dorset. She was so strong all week leading up to the operation, and the aftermath, is a lot of hard work, and restraint...hard work she is used to, restraint, not at all. When our Dad nicknamed her Spitfire, I don't think it was for temper, I think it was for Spunk!

floralgirl said...

I bet once her body heals a little, she'll be back to her spunky self:)

magpie said...

Spunky like you, Megan, and hard-working like you too ☺

floralgirl said...

Alright, you are too kind. You know all about hard work yourself.

hedgie said...

Don't know how long I'll be here....keep getting thrown off....AND in penalty box....don't know why---haven't downloaded anything in last 24 hrs. System SO slow---can't even get back into mail. So if I disappear, you'll know why...and I'll go ahead and say a final Happy Birthday to Jo, prayers for any and all, and hope everyone has a good day tomorrow. I have an early lunch apptmt. so since I'll still be a Hughes bad girl, may not even log on in AM.

Mema Jo said...

Good Evening! Hope you can stay awhile Lynn. The dinner was excellent and we went with hubby's brother who also celebrates his birthday at the end of this week and his wife. They are FL snowbirds so we always see them before it is time to go down south. The chill in the air is encouraging them to leave soon! lol

hedgie said...

Wonder where Mits and Ceil and Wanda are???

Mema Jo said...

Want to go over on other thread to see if Eagles came back.
Margy I had put some pics in Momsters that I took just before I left around
5:45.... The nest is really looking good!

BRB

hedgie said...

Glad you had a nice evening, Jo!!!

Mema Jo said...

Good Good Good - Our regal couple was here just before dark and I can see pics from Margy in the album.

floralgirl said...

I took pics too but I'm just too lazy to post them....

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, sounds like a great time at dinner

Don't know where Mits and Ceil are! Hmmm...

Wanda hasn't been getting on until late at night...

hedgie said...

Maybe Mits and Ceil are BUSY....maybe baby time has come!!!

stronghunter said...

Hi folks,

Worked late setting up for sub. I thought I wasn't going to have to, but one thing led to another, and then the copy machine decided to jam repeatedly. Love it when I produce pleated paper fans instead of good copies!

Still lots to do on the courses I'm taking.

Just cannot understand why students who are going to college in two years cannot learn 10 literary terms per week. You would think I am killing them! Exercised an option Judie does not have--Parent signature on a quiz paper, but will hold them until I go back so sub doesn't have to deal with it.

Just need to wind down now. Watching "Dancing" and laughing. It feels good to laugh, have been wound a little tightly recently.

floralgirl said...

So Jo, what did you have for dinner? I've never been there, but my sil and bil always rave about the place.

Judie said...

Ah, the thrill of crime solving! I blame my mother -- the first books she gave me to read on my own were Nancy Drew mysteries. Only took 45 years to kick in for a career but better late than never.

So my wonderful eagle friends, I am about to turn my light off but will leave the night light on for others. Busy day tomorrow so need to turn in early. Will check in tomorrow soon as I can.

G'night.

Mema Jo said...

Belle Baker sent me an email today and I was very happy to hear from her......
...Hi Jo! Thank you so much for thinking of me… I miss you all very much and the eagles, too. I haven’t been able to keep up with them this year hardly at all… was it a successful season for the eagles? How are all the eagle buddies doing? I used to get mail from Jim quite regularly, but haven’t heard from him in a good while. I hope you and all the other eagle buddies are well and happy and that their fledglings and loved ones are faring well, also.
Love, Belle

Belle had changed her email address but I know we still try to keep in touch with her. She's a special lady!

Mema Jo said...

GOod Night Judie

stronghunter said...

Jo, I'm happy you heard from Belle--your efforts paid off.

stronghunter said...

And Lynne2 is back!

stronghunter said...

Good night, Judie!

hedgie said...

Maybe Jim doesn't have her new email address, Jo. You should send it to him!!
Shirley, love the idea of a parent signature sheet!! Wish they were used more often here.
Judie, Nancy Drew came after The Bobbsey Twins for me, but definitely got me started on my passion for mystery, sleuthness and law enforcement!

deb said...

I am home from work and had some ribs for dinner. They were good, all I had to do was pop them in the microwave to heat up!

I sure hate missing all the visit, but I enjoy all your pictures. :)

hedgie said...

ny slick spots tonight, Deb? You don't walk at nighttime, do you??

stronghunter said...

Jo,when the quiz grade drops below 50%, and it is a dual enrollment student for whom most of the material should be review, I need to bring in reinforcements. It is time for mom and dad to sit down at the kitchen table and pound the stuff into the kid's head. Started to e-mail parents, but this is easier and parents get to see the problem first hand.

stronghunter said...

I am speaking from experience as a parent. Have done some pounding of info into the head at my own kitchen table. It paid off.

stronghunter said...

Do I sound like I am on a tear? Meant to wind down and leave the job at school. Hard to do.

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - Jim and I got our heads together some time ago about the address change. Then on the Oct b-days Belle's address was correct.

Mema Jo said...

Dinner at Dutch's for me is always Crab Cakes. They are even better then some of the places down in OC.Potatoes are freshly baked and then the veggie of the day. Their bread has like an oatmeal topping and served with cinnamon and honey butter. Yummy.

paula eagleholic said...

Just finished adding and rearranging today's pics!

hedgie said...

Okay, Jo!!! Jim sends some good emails, doesn't he??

paula eagleholic said...

Shirley - done head pounding here too. Couldn't get it into their heads that all they had to do was actually do the homework, and turn it in too!

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, my favorite at Dutch's is the filet Oscar...filet topped with crabmeat, asparagus and hollandaise! To die for!

paula eagleholic said...

And the cream of crab soup...and the sweet potatoes baked in honey....and on and on...

paula eagleholic said...

Got to go balance the checkbooks....bbialw

deb said...

No slick spots, Lynn. Now that it is dark when I get off I drive. There is all the road construction by me and big piles of frozen dirt. Nothing would probably ever happen, but feel safer driving.

hedgie said...

OMG---just had a stink bug circling the light right above kitchen table....they are HUGE in flight---look 4 times bigger. Smacked him down with magazine and then tissued him straight to commode.
Hey, that makes me think about Vicki!!! WOnder how everything is in Commodetown?
Jo, meant to tell you....be careful with socks on---no skating on the bare floors!!

Mema Jo said...

Yes, Jim gets them from his buddies and relatives and keeps sending great emails to all of us.

stronghunter said...

Paula, I do think parents will be able to help with this problem. I think most of the kids don't understand they have to really concentrate to learn this material. We will see what happens.

stronghunter said...

Love your Snoopy, Paula.

floralgirl said...

Well, now I'm going to bed really hungry...but I did ask. Gotta get some sleep, being one employee down will make tomorrow very hectic for me. Nite all:)
Wondering where Mits is....
Hope you had a very happy birthday Jo!

stronghunter said...

How long has Mits been missing?

hedgie said...

Goodness, Paula....you are making my mouth water! Mmmm...gotta go to that place for sure.
Luckily, I never had to do any real pounding. Eldest wasn't a great student, but she did do her assignments. Youngest was my brainy kid.
Deb, glad to hear that, dear friend!!! You just never know in this day and age.

stronghunter said...

I would feel better driving, too, Deb.

hedgie said...

Haven't heard from Mits or Ceil since 4-ish.
Night, Megan!

magpie said...

Jo
Before I opened email and Blog, but after I opened up the Still Cam, I went straight to the Momsters Album to see if there were any pics! Voila! Yours! ☺

Will check the others in the morning.
I hope Judie can solve this crime problem:

Catch the Night Bandit!

Shirley, go back for a little more laughter....you are a wise and hard-working teacher, and I know your efforts with these students, will reach at least some of them.

Oh, Paula's choices on the menu offerings, Too Good!

Lynn hope you don't stay penalized for long! That's another "crime" for Judie to solve..

and Jo - Thanks for the nice email post from Belle....

magpie said...

Best wishes for an especially restful and restorative sleep for Megan...big tough day Tuesday.

My shoulders are warped and my hands are cramped....so I got to say my Good Nights now, even though I have missed making some comments I will think about in the middle of the night.

Prayers for all needs requested, glad to see most folks are in their roosts safely, and
God Bless Us, Every One

It is raining on Shirley and the chicks at Alcoa.

hedgie said...

Goodnight, Margy. Rest well. Hope your day is quiet tomorrow.
Deb....hope you meant Sheila---don't think Shirley has headed for the Southern Cross! LOL!

stronghunter said...

I wondered what that was all about!

Lolly said...

Hi all! We are home. Delivered Jacob to his parents around 3:30. Then we arrived home around 5:30. Have unloaded the trailer, picked up Annie from "camp", and relaxed.

Mema Jo said...

ROGLMBO DEB ! I was over in facebook and was reading the comments made on here while I was gone.... I thought oh No Where did Shirley go! Good One Deb!

Mema Jo said...

Welcome Lolly!

Margy - probably missed you but I sure like your pics for the late eve visit.

Lynn - we'll make a lunch date soon for Dutch's

MITS/CEIL - I have no news BUT I was hoping that Annie would honor my b-day by having Benjamin !!!

Mits said...

hi ya, did not know a new thread was up, watched House, and tried to watch Trauma, not impressed with any of the new med shows on....I also got a nice note from Belle too, she was very kind and encouraging to me after Maggie was born....then got into a book I started when I was at the beach, and read that to keep my mind occupied...so signing off for tonight...good night and prayers for all of you momsters and dadsters...

Prayers for all those with needs/wants and also prayers of thankfulness for many things!

Lolly said...

Something is wrong with our antenna on the trailer, so we did not watch any TV all week. Anyway, have been watching
Dancing as well as Castle this evening. Now the news....way behind on that. lol

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I was reading about all the hard workers on here. I, however, have mastered the art of laziness!!

stronghunter said...

Somehow I doubt that, Sharon.

hedgie said...

Welcome home, Lolly! There's no place like home, is there?
Mits, thanks for checking in...hope you weren't talking to yourself on the old thread! And hope your book is a good one!
We'll make a date, Jo!
I'm calling it a day. Early morning ahead---y-a-w-n.....I don't like AM's!!!
Speakimng of A-M----started to read a post on FB from her, but that's when I got thrown offline...and couldn't get back to FB---she was expecting a bad storm...hope it missed her place!
Goodnight again fine fowl friends!

stronghunter said...

Good night, Lynn.

Lolly said...

Thanks, Lynn! Nite!

Going to take me a while to get adjusted to being home.

Mema Jo said...

I hope you come back and decipher your comment Shirley

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I think Shirley was just trying to prove her point that she was brain dead and needed sleep!

Lolly said...

She succeeded!

deb said...

SORRY, I did mean Sheila, I would swear that is what I typed.

Ooops.

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, I knew what you meant Deb, but didn't think twice about the Shirley part until others mentioned it

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

We are planning to drive most of the way up there Friday evening, about an hour or so from Shepherdstown. Motels are so expensive this weekend close to there because of some hot air balloon thing. Hotel in Martinsburg was around 60 and in Winchester it is 100. :( But, we really wanted to get within an hour so we don't have to get up so early and hit the road running. Old and slow, that is our pace!!

floralgirl said...

Whoops, someone came back with a stick

floralgirl said...

Both again

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Belle and Liberty are certainly busy this morning!!

Good morning, everyone!

Here I am at the big school house waiting to give the crime students their first exam. What fun for me! I already know the answers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA. Please have a most lovely and busy prosperous day.

Shirley, so relieved you are not having to feed chicks and that your brain was only temporarily dead. Good new from the doctors' today, please.

Lolly, welcome home.

Y'all need to stop with the food. I've gained 10 pounds just reading the blog.

Also wish Belle and Lib would sleep in once in a while -- up waaaay too early for me. Missed them again.

Have fun Meagan.

Don't remember Boxcar Children.

Must have missed something along the way -- what are the mysteries I need to solve?

Okay, off to see the wannabe adults.

Nest Update

10/12/09:
We occasionally see eagles eating meals on the platform. The Osprey Cam nest is close to the Blackwater River, where our raptors do much of their fishing. Here's a photo that gives a look at the surroundings.
